2R L MooreA P O'BrienHe has won three times from 6f to 7f. Finished 2 3/4l behind Camille Pissarro when fifth of 9 at 15-8fav on his latest outing in a Group 1 at ParisLongchamp over 7f (soft) last month. Ballydoyle representative and could have a say in the outcome.
4th (11) New Century
2Oisin MurphyA M BaldingHe has won three times from 7f to 1m on good to firm and good ground. A winner at 3-1 in the Grade 1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine over 1m (good) on his latest outing in September, beating Al Qudra by 1 1/4l. Has a leading chance.

Al Qudra might have been a little unfortunate in the Grade 1 Summer Stakes, won by NEW CENTURY, at Woodbine in September. However, Andrew Balding's colt was well on top at the finish that day and this could be a fine opportunity to enhance an already impressive CV. Aidan O'Brien has landed the previous two renewals of this race and Henri Matisse is feared. Zulu Kingdom is another to consider.

3Flavien PratJohn SadlerWon on his latest outing when 4-5fav at Del Mar over 1m in August, beating Magnify by 1 3/4l. Having his first run for a new stable today, previously with Bob Baffert. Going in the right direction and may have more to offer.
3rd (7) Invigorated
3Irad Ortiz JrMichael McCarthyA winner at 1m on the all-weather. Well beaten at 13-2 behind Mindframe when last of eight on his latest outing at Churchill Downs over 1m (good) in May. He is wearing blinkers for the first time. Having his first run for a new stable today, previously with Todd Pletcher. Any market support would make him of interest.

Canada Gate has been improving in recent starts and got off the mark here in August. Now in the care of John Sadler, he commands plenty of respect with the potential for more to come, but the vote goes to RIMPROTECTOR. The five-year-old wasn't disgraced last time in a stakes contest and a drop in grade should aid his cause. Others to note are No Secret and Lahaina Flavor.

Beaten 1 1/2l by Sugar Fish when second of five at 18-5 on her latest outing in the Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita over 1m in September. That was a step in the right direction and she is more than capable of being in the mix.
(7) Show Card
3Flavien PratBob BaffertShe has won four times from 6f to 1m. Won on her latest outing when 7-10fav at Los Alamitos Racecourse over 1m in September, beating Coffee In Bed by 1 1/4l. Going the right way and is an interesting second string for Bob Baffert.
1st (3) Hope Road
3Juan HernandezBob BaffertShe has won three times from 6f to 1m. Won on her latest outing when 1-2fav in the Grade 3 Torrey Pines Stakes at Del Mar over 1m in August, beating Nothing Like You by 5l. That was a career-best display and she boasts excellent claims to continue her progression.

HOPE ROAD made it a hat-trick of victories when running away with a Grade 3 over C&D in August and Bob Baffert's filly remains capable of further progression on just her seventh career start. Alpha Bella returned to form when runner-up in the Zenyatta at Santa Anita, which gives her every chance of being in the mix. Show Card is respected in her bid for a third win on the bounce.

A winner at 14-1 in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine over 1m (good) on her latest outing last month, beating Nadette by a head. Capable on her day but it wouldn't be a surprise if she didn't back that recent win up.
(8) Nadette
5Hector BerriosNeil DrysdaleWinner of five races from 1m to 1m 1f on ground varying from good to soft and on the all-weather. Beaten a head by Mouffy when second of 12 at 13-2 on her latest outing in the Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine over 1m (good) last month. She is more than capable of a decent showing.

Third of 11 behind Gina Romantica beaten 4l at 16-1 on her latest outing in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes at Keeneland over 1m (good) last month. A repeat of that effort would give her an obvious chance.

3L DettoriOwen BurrowsShe has won four times from 6f to 7f on good to firm and good ground. Finished second but awarded the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood over 7f, when 7-1 (good to firm) in July. She has the potential to improve for stepping up to a mile.
(9) Kathmandu
3Hollie DoyleB J MeehanA winner at 7f on the all-weather. Finished 1 1/4l behind Raqiya when fifth of nine at 3-1 on her latest outing in the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood over 7f (good to firm) in July. Leading credentials based on her second in the French 1000 Guineas.
3rd (2) Sacred Wish
4Paco LopezGeorge WeaverShe has won three times from 6f to 1m on good ground and on the all-weather. Beaten 3l by Walkathon when second of 12 at 4-1 on her latest outing in the Grade 3 Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Stakes at Kentucky Downs over 1m (good) in August. Consistent performer who is likely to be competitive once again.

French 1000 Guineas runner-up Kathmandu and RAQIYA head a strong UK challenge, with the latter getting the vote. Owen Burrows' filly was awarded the Oak Tree at Goodwood, finishing ahead of Kathmandu (fifth), and has since been freshened up with this clearly being the plan. Aspen Grove and Sacred Wish appeal most of the remainder.

5T GaffalioneS AsmussenOverdid it up front when fourth in this race at Santa Anita last year; only two starts this term, third behind Vahva on return but most recently reversing that form in winning 7f Grade 1 Ballerina at Saratoga; had a kind trip pressing the pace that day but has the gears to put herself there with every chance; should still have more to give.
5th (9) Ways And Means
3F PratC BrownAlways highly regarded; form figures in one-turn races (like this one) read 12111; picked up an injury in the race for the one reverse; wins include 7f Grade 1 Test at Saratoga in the summer; good claims.

Marginal preference is for SOCIETY over Ways And Means. There's not much between them on the figures, and Vahva is there too on her best form.[Ron Wood]

(11) Big Evs
3T MarquandM ApplebyWon last season's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Santa Anita; favoured by the weights when winning Goodwood Group 2 in August; struggled in the Nunthorpe latest, albeit having a bad draw and he didn't run well in that race last year either; needs to be as good as ever after two-month pause.
(1) Believing
4R L MooreG BougheyForm figures at the top level read 30944223 including twice runner-up to Bradsell; this test is just a bit sharper than ideal unless the added blinkers speed her up a touch.
4th (6) Star Of Mystery
3W BuickC ApplebyStrong-travelling off-the-pace runner; kept shaping better than her smart form in Dubai and has progressed in the US, finishing a troubled third behind Cogburn and Arzak at Saratoga, then winning and finishing second in two lesser Graded races; just got going too late latest and this is a sharper test, but she has serious gears.
(12) Bradsell
4Hollie DoyleA WatsonThree 5f Group 1 wins in Britain and Ireland including two this year; below form when second in France latest but that was a commendable effort on ground slower than ideal; drawn wide for his first race on a turning track; non-runner in this race last term.
(9) Cogburn
5I Ortiz JrS Asmussen3-3 in 5.5f-6f Graded sprints this year, winning those by a combined 9l which is some going; went sub 60 seconds for his 5.5f Saratoga Grade 1 win; slight drop in trip shouldn't be an issue; hard to beat.

This can go to COGBURN, who is an outstanding sprinter. Star Of Mystery can rattle home for a piece of the prize, with Motorious also in the mix.[Ron Wood]

(9) Awesome Result
4Y TakeY IkeeJustify filly who's 7-7 in 1m1f-10.5f dirt races in Japan; one to take seriously, not least considering there was a Japanese-trained winner of this race here in 2021.
2nd (6) Raging Sea
4F PratC BrownHas won six of her last seven starts; doesn't usually win by far; head win over Idiomatic (won this last year) in Saratoga Grade 1 two starts back and head win over Batucada in Aqueduct Grade 2 latest; nothing special on speed figures but should be in there scrapping again.
1st (2) Thorpedo Anna
3B J Hernandez JrKenneth McPeekHas won four fillies' Grade 1s this year; didn't have much to spare at Parx latest and now takes on older rivals for first time, but she pushed Classic contender Fierceness to within a head in the Grade 1 Travers at Saratoga in the summer (fast time); leading claims on that performance.

It's a shame that last year's winner Idiomatic misses out. In her absence, the leading 3yo filly Thorpedo Anna is likely to be odds on and if she's at anything like the level of her Travers second, she'll probably take this. However, that run is an outlier in her form - she's no standout on speed figures otherwise - and there's not much to be gained at the prices. The other US runners are ordinary for the level and there's not a lot of pace in the race, so ALICE VERITE is interesting for Japan at a big price, switching from turf, seeing as she's an out-and-out front-runner who's a sister to a Grade 3 winner on dirt. Her compatriot Awesome Result is unbeaten so also needs to be considered.[Ron Wood]

A winner at 15-1 in the Grade 2 FanDuel TV Kentucky Turf Cup Stakes at Kentucky Downs over 1m 4f (good) on his latest outing in September, beating Highway Robber by 1/2l. (13) There Goes Harvard
6John VelazquezMichael McCarthyHe has won four times from 1m to 1m 2f on good ground and on the all-weather, but last win was over two years ago. Beaten 1l by Cabo Spirit when second of 11 at 9-1 on his latest outing in the Grade 2 California Crown John Henry Turf Championship S. Beaten 2l by Kalpana when second of 14 at 12-1 on her latest outing in the Group 1 Qipco British Champions Fillies Kalpana Mares Stakes at Ascot over 1m 4f (soft) last month. Merits a second look but this is undoubtedly her toughest task to date.
(6) Far Bridge
4Joel RosarioChristophe ClementWinner of six races from 1m to 1m 4f on good ground and on the all-weather. A winner at 14-5 in the Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Stakes at Belmont At The Big A over 1m 4f (good) on his latest outing in September, beating War Like Goddess by 1/2l. Arrives seeking a Grade 1 hat-trick and isn't to be underestimated.
3rd (3) Shahryar
6C DemuroH FujiwaraHe has won four times from 1m 1f to 1m 4f on firm ground, but last win was over two years ago. Finished 4l behind North Bridge when fifth of 11 at 11-2 on his latest outing in the Group 2 Sapporo Kinen at Sapporo over 1m 2f (good) in August. His runner-up effort in the Sheema Classic at Meydan on his penultimate start reads well and he merits respect.
(4) Luxembourg
5R L MooreA P O'BrienWinner of seven races from 1m to 1m 4f on ground varying from good to soft. Finished 2 1/2l behind Economics when sixth of 8 at 11-1 on his latest outing in the Group 1 Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown over 1m 2f (good) in September. Third of 12 behind Bluestocking beaten 1 1/4l at 9-1 on her latest outing in the Group 1 Qatar Prix Vermeille at ParisLongchamp over 1m 4f (soft) in September. (5) Jayarebe
3S M LeveyB J MeehanHe has won four times from 7f to 1m 2f on ground varying from good to firm to soft. A winner at 5-2 in the Group 2 Qatar Prix Dollar at ParisLongchamp over 1m 2f (soft) on his latest outing last month, beating Almaqam by a head. Has won 3 times this season. Progressive type who is worth his chance at this level.
1st (11) Rebel's Romance
6W BuickC ApplebyHas won 14 races from 1m to 1m 4f on ground varying from good to firm to good to soft and on the all-weather. Won on his latest outing when 4-7fav in the Group 1 Preis Von Europa at Cologne over 1m 4f (good to soft) in September, beating Straight by a neck and this classy globetrotter needs taking very seriously.

Classy globetrotter REBEL'S ROMANCE showed a likeable attitude when scoring over this trip in a Grade 1 at Cologne recently, and the uncomplicated son of Dubawi gets the tentative vote to bring up a double in what looks a competitive affair. Emily Upjohn and Shahryar can put up the most resistance to the selection.

5Jose L OrtizKenneth McPeekWill be making up the numbers if he gets off the reserves' list.
5th (5) Senor Buscador
6J RosarioT FincherLate-running type who couldn't get into this at Santa Anita last year, finishing seventh; in fine form early this year, notably winning the 1m1f Group 1 Saudi Cup (richest race in the world); however, struggled in his prep for this; easy to ignore.
(8) Pyrenees
4B J Hernandez JrCherie DevauxRunner-up in 1m1f-1m2f Grade 1s on last two starts, most recently behind Highland Falls; not good enough.
(6) Derma Sotogake
4C LemaireH OtonashiSecond in this last year at Santa Anita off a six-month absence; below form since but has had a prep this time, albeit finishing behind Ushba Tesoro; blinkers added.
(14) Next
6Luan MachadoW CowansWinning machine but usually over further and always below the top level.
(10) Tapit Trice
4I Ortiz JrT PletcherWill need to run way faster than when winning 1m1f Grade 2 Woodward at Aqueduct latest.
(7) Ushba Tesoro
7Y KawadaN TakagiLacked the pace to get involved in this at Santa Anita last year, finishing fifth (behind Derma Sotogake); won and finished second in the last two runnings of 1m2f Group 1 Dubai World Cup over a deeper surface at Meydan; runner-up in recent prep, a race he won last term; others are quicker.
(12) Arthur's Ride
4J AlvaradoW MottTwo 1m2f/1m1f wins from the front in fast times at Saratoga this summer, notably Grade 1 Whitney; disappointing latest but comes into this fresh and has had only eight starts overall, so retains potential; trainer has won this twice.
4th (13) Newgate
4L DettoriB BaffertWon 1m2f Grade 1 Big 'Cap at Santa Anita in March; ignore Dubai World Cup defeat later the same month; nice prep for this when third at Santa Anita in September; potential improver, but still needs to run quite a bit faster than he's ever managed before.
(2) Highland Falls
4L SaezB CoxBy a Breeders' Cup Classic winner out of a Distaff winner; won 1m2f Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Saratoga under forward ride in September; probably needs to run faster now.
1st (11) Sierra Leone
3F PratC BrownAnother for Coolmore; lacks early speed, and has lugged left for pressure, as when a nose second in the Kentucky Derby (leaned all over third-placed Forever Young); more professional when third in the Travers at Saratoga; couldn't match the pace of Fierceness that day but is seemingly still maturing and a strong pace could bring him into this; sire won this here in 2017.
3rd (1) Forever Young
3Ryusei SakaiY YahagiWell-travelled Japanese runner; 6-7; sole defeat came in the Kentucky Derby but he was a very close third and might have won had he not been leaned on by Sierra Leone in the straight; didn't help himself that day with a sluggish start, which had been a trait, and the inside gate 1 today isn't good for one who gets behind, but he began more sharply in winning his prep for this; trainer had two winners at this meeting here in 2021.
2nd (9) Fierceness
3J VelazquezT PletcherWon last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita; had been hit or miss, but the Kentucky Derby didn't go his way (favourite) in May and he's since gained back-to-back wins in good races at Saratoga in the summer, most recently 1m2f Grade 1 Travers, just holding on from Distaff-bound Thorpedo Anna; Coolmore have purchased his stallions rights.
(3) City Of Troy
3R L MooreA P O'BrienThe outstanding 3yo on turf in Europe, winning the Derby, Eclipse and Juddmonte International (1m2f-1m4f); allowed a soft lead at York latest, with a following wind to help; this is a more competitive scenario on a new surface; sire was a top dirt horse but dam was a turf runner; dam's sire Galileo was sixth in this race at Belmont in 2001; trainer 0-14 in this race on dirt, with two placed.

The Derby winner trying to land the Breeders' Cup Classic is a tremendously exciting prospect and it will be a great achievement if City Of Troy pulls it off. No European runner has won this race on dirt since the French-trained Arcangues at Santa Anita in 1993. Aidan O'Brien has tried 14 times (on dirt), going so close with Giant's Causeway at Churchill Downs in 2000 and still chasing the prize all these years later. O'Brien's Galileo was the last Derby winner to have a go, but he was only sixth at Belmont in 2001 - and he's the sire of City Of Troy's dam, who was a grass horse. The latest Ballydoyle contender's own sire was a dirt runner - Justify, who won the Triple Crown in 2018 - but City Of Troy's suitability for this surface, so different to the turf over which he has been racing over, is the big question mark. He might be the best horse in the race but there are enough doubts to pass when it comes to taking short odds. Forever Young appealed before the draw, but he now looks up against it in trying to come from off the speed from the inside post. FIERCENESS (nap) and Arthur's Ride are of most interest. They might have the race to themselves on the lead.[Ron Wood]

4A FresuH G MotionWon two 1m-1m1f fillies' Grade 1s in South Africa last winter; beaten in both US starts, most recently Grade 2; may do better for respected trainer who had the winner of this race in 2010, but surprise if she's up to this; new trip.
(13) Sunset Glory
4M FrancoM McCarthyShe was on a roll in minor company, including C&D, before meeting trouble and finishing unplaced behind two of these rivals in Santa Anita Grade 2; plenty more needed.
(9) Anisette
4U RispoliLeonard PowellHas won three weak fillies' Grade 1s up to 1m2f, including one here; beaten in 1m1f Grade 2 here latest, albeit conceding weight; never tried this far; even with home advantage, probably not good enough.
4th (1) Beautiful Love
3O MurphyC ApplebyBehind Cinderella's Dream in Dubai in February; recent 1m3f Grade 3 form, including a win, is quite far removed from what will be needed now.
(8) Hang The Moon

3rd (5) Didia
6Jose L OrtizI CorreasUnplaced in this race at Santa Anita last year; won 9.5f Grade 1 New York at Saratoga in the summer but that wasn't a great race; beaten at odds on in Grade 2 here latest; up in trip.

3B LoughnaneG BougheyBeaten 6l into second in 1m1f Grade 1 QEII Challenge Cup at Keeneland latest; this extra distance probably won't help.
(2) Full Count Felicia
5I Ortiz JrK AttardAllowed to open up a huge lead when winning 1m2f Grade 1 E P Taylor in Canada latest; she didn't look good enough before that and she's now up in trip, but she looks like getting her own way again and this is a sharper track.
5th (4) War Like Goddess
7J AlvaradoW MottStrong-travelling hold-up mare; went wide and too soon when third in this race here in 2021; this year's form includes C&D Grade 3 win but she was favoured by the weights; gave the leader too big a start at Saratoga two starts back and most recently committed too soon when second to Turf contender Far Bridge at Aqueduct.
1st (10) Moira
5F PratK AttardGood third in this over 1m2f at Santa Anita last year; did well to win Grade 2 Beverly D at Colonial Downs in the summer given runner-up had the run of the race in front; couldn't get to front-running Full Count Felicia in Canada latest, but the winner stole it; stamina is a question mark, but she looks a contender again.
(7) Content
3R L MooreA P O'BrienHeadstrong; running-on fourth in the Juvenile Fillies Turf at this meeting at Santa Anita last year; won 1m4f Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks in August despite pulling hard, helped by an inside run; more recently disappointed in two soft-ground Group 1s, but that was excusable and she takes her racing well; Moore was originally on Ylang Ylang.
2nd (3) Cinderella's Dream
3W BuickC Appleby5-5 on left-handed tracks including 9.5f fillies' Graded races in the US on last two starts; sole defeat came when seventh in 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket; more to do now taking on older rivals for first time, and up in trip, but has a neat change of pace; missed intended start in September with a touch of colic.

Full Count Felicia is the one to catch, although it's unclear whether they'll go 'full send' with her this time, as at Woodbine, seeing as she has stamina to prove. Either way, this sharper track should help her with the added distance and the others won't want to let her get away again. Cinderella's Dream has a turn of foot, but she missed an intended start in September and is up in trip. CONTENT appeals most. She rattled home for fourth in last year's 1m Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and has since won the 1m4f Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks despite pulling hard, albeit helped by her track position. She'll want some pace in the race, but this sharp test at the distance should suit her headstrong nature and it's easy to ignore a couple of recent defeats on bad ground.[Ron Wood]

Grade 1 Forego Stakes hero MULLIKIN arrives here with a sequence of successes next to his name and he can add to his winning thread. Despite just one run over 6f under his belt, the four-year-old has plenty of speed and may be difficult to peg back. Federal Judge can take this tougher assignment in his stride after a bloodless Grade 2 success last time, while Raging Torrent is also of interest.
