(11) Another Baar
4Henry BrookeAdrian Paul KeatleyProgressive handicapper last year but he's dropped 11lb this summer after a series of modest efforts; latest Thirsk run (7f) was quite encouraging though, travelling strongly but unable to land a blow in a race where the pace held up; return to sprinting should suit and he could go well at a price.
(15) Glendown
4Jamie HamiltonTim EasterbyAll wins at 6f but effective at this trip, as when fourth of 11 at Beverley this month despite a wide trip; no chance from his draw over 6f here two weeks ago; strong pace at 5f will suit and he's an intriguing outsider.
(16) Eeh Bah Gum
9Harry ReedMichael ApplebyNot the force of old and he hasn't build on a fair reappearance effort/stable debut in May; looks vulnerable in this field.
(18) Fortunate Star
4Robert DunneDeclan CarrollWon at Catterick in April off this mark (5f, good) but that hasn't been a springboard to better things; others look stronger.
(9) Leodis Dream
8Sean QuinlanPaul MidgleyFront-runner; made all at Southwell on his return in April and followed it with a close second at Ripon; not quite so good the last twice; yard have won three of the last six runnings.
(7) Reigning Profit
5Tom BellamyRuth CarrRunning well enough this season to come into the reckoning off his reduced mark; should find this being run to suit but the highest stall not sure to be advantageous.
(1) Never Dark
7Danny McMenaminIain JardineHe had been threatening prior to his Nottingham win three weeks ago (5f, good); not so good over C&D last time though and he'd be of more interest on a slower surface.
(5) Faro De San Juan
5Charlie DeutschDylan CunhaHasn't matched last year's best in three starts this year, most recently beaten over 5l into sixth at Newmarket last week; surplus stamina no bad thing in what should be a strongly run race but, even so, this sharp 5f on lively ground might be inadequate.
(4) Princess Karine
5Brian HughesBryan SmartFour 5f wins on turf, the latest by a wide margin at Pontefract in May; creditable third in a small-field fillies' event three weeks ago; other pace to contend with in today's field.
(8) Ghathanfar
8Ross ChapmanTracy WaggottDown in the weights and he's been placed in four of his six runs this year; not at his best at Musselburgh on Tuesday though and others appeal more for win purposes.
(14) Birkenhead
7Jonathan EnglandPaul MidgleyNarrowly defeated stablemate Leodis Dream in the 2022 renewal; in fine form at a lower level and has the ability to contend off this mark; won't find it easy trying to dominate this time though.
3rd (17) Bayraat
8Niall HoulihanTom TateJust 1-15 on the Flat but he's well handicapped on last year's best and his latest run over C&D saw him travel powerfully and run with more credit than the bare figures might indicate; should get the end-to-end gallop he needs at 5f; one to consider.
(19) Golden Rainbow
5Nathan MoscropRebecca MenziesWon three of his last five starts, all in Class 6 company, but he was a disappointing favourite at Beverley on Monday; more on his plate in this higher grade.
(10) Whisky McGonagall
4Callum BewleyTim EasterbyProminent racer; made all to win a 5f handicap at Newcastle in April off 3lb lower; next time was a write off and he returns from a break in a race packed with other pace influences.
2nd (12) Soul Seeker
7Micheal NolanDavid O'MearaMore disappointing runs than good ones in 2024 but he's tumbled down the weights and is now 7lb lower than when winning at Haydock last September; teamed up with Micheal Nolan to win the corresponding race 12 months ago (also won it in 2021); tongue-tie back on; contender.
4th (13) Woobay
5James BowenDanny BrookeBack in the groove for her new yard, second at Ayr before winning at Ripon the following day (both 5f, good); the beaten horses there haven't done much for the form and she'll need more if she is to follow up in this field.
5th (2) Zarzyni
7Sean BowenDavid & Nicola BarronMore than capable off this mark but he has won just one of his last 29 starts; unplaced in four visits to York but the likely frenetic pace will play to his strengths and he holds each-way claims.
(6) Strong Johnson
8Sam Twiston-DaviesPaul MidgleyDown in the weights and he has sound claims on even this season's best; yard have a good record in the race but he'll need to step up on recent efforts if he's to better last year's sixth in this race.
1st (3) Night On Earth
6Charlie ToddIan WilliamsSpeedy front-runner who won at Epsom in April (5f, good) and who has run some solid races in defeat since; this represents a drop in class and he should give it a good go from the front.

This is a race that has been dominated by Paul Midgley and David O'Meara and Soul Seeker (winner in 2021 and 2023) and Birkenhead (2022) return with something to recommend them. There is likely to be a frenetic pace on given a host of habitual front-runners and this may be a rare York sprint where it pays to find something launching their challenge from off the pace. The frustrating Zarzyni, Bayraat (second choice) and Another Baar are considered but it could be worth taking a flier on GLENDOWN. He ran well from a poor draw at Beverley on his penultimate start and then had no chance from stall 19 in a draw-affected race here two weeks ago. He's quickly dropped in the weights and a full revival could be imminent.[Paul Smith]

(6) Brazen Bolt
7Daniel TudhopeJohn & Sean QuinnIn good form in Bahrain over the winter but well held in three runs back in Britain; a major turnaround is required.
3rd (14) Rock Opera
4Andrew MullenRichard FaheyNarrowly beaten at Nottingham last month and deservedly went one better at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) next time; never better than midfield over C&D since but she did race away from where the main action unfolded.
(13) International Girl
6Aidan KeeleyRichard FaheyC&D winner who was better than ever when scoring at Ripon (6f, good) in June but never involved back here; only eighth in this race 12 months ago and others are preferred again.
4th (9) Dare To Hope
4Oisin OrrRichard FaheyImproved performer this year, winning at Beverley (5f, soft) on his reappearance and placed over 6f at Hamilton (second to Manila Scouse) and Chester (third to Radio Goo Goo) last month; latest Ayr run was below par, though.
(5) Badri
7Ryan SextonJulie CamachoFive wins in a productive 2023 campaign; hasn't found his best form this term but last two efforts not too bad and he's starting to look well handicapped.
(10) Dapper Valley
3Alec VoikhanskyRichard HannonUseful effort when third of 17 in 6f Newmarket handicap (good) on reappearance but below par twice since, latterly behind Trefor; hopes are pinned on a gelding operation since last seen eight weeks ago having a positive effect.
1st (3) Rage Of Bamby
4Charles BishopEve Johnson HoughtonEasily her best effort last season was a second over 5f here at the Ebor meeting (good to firm); well held in Bath Listed race on her reappearance in April; off a further three months since but that Ebor meeting effort came on the back of a break.
2nd (1) Korker
5Sam JamesK R BurkeSix-time 5f winner; his two best runs this season have come when fourth over 5f here, latterly a Listed race a fortnight ago; races beyond 5f for only the second time on his 32nd start; can start slowly.
(4) Ferrous
4Connor BeasleyJack ChannonHas thrived since gelded, gaining two ready 6f AW wins in the spring; good third back on turf at Newbury (6f, good) in May and he had possible excuses when down the field in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot since; capable of bouncing back and having a big say.
(12) Manila Scouse
5Duran FentimanTim EasterbyMade all when edging out to Dare To Hope in 6f Hamilton Class 2 in June; even better form when second at Thirsk this month but he was behind Silky Wilkie when fourth back at Hamilton last week.
(7) Bergerac
6Tom EavesKevin RyanAdded to his good Tapeta record when bouncing back to form with a bang to win the Gosforth Park Cup at Newcastle (5f) four weeks ago; raised 4lb but he's won off a higher mark here before.
(8) Radio Goo Goo
4Richard KingscoteDavid EvansSuccessful five times in 2023 and has added two more wins from the front this summer, latterly at Chester (6f) at the end of June; respectable fourth from this revised mark at Newmarket last week.
(2) Silky Wilkie
5Clifford LeeK R BurkeDown in the weights and back to form when second of nine in Scottish Stewards' Cup at Hamilton (6f, good) eight days ago; a 2lb nudge shouldn't prevent a prominent showing if in similar form.
(11) Trefor
3Callum ShepherdCharles HillsWell on top tackling older opposition for the first time at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) five weeks ago; even an 8lb rise doesn't look enough to stop him with further progress likely.

Progressive 3yo TREFOR (nap) made light work of largely older opposition at Newmarket last month and it could be a similar story here. Ferrous had excuses in the Wokingham and can bounce back to provide the chief threat ahead of last week's Scottish Stewards' Cup 2-4 Silky Wilkie and Manila Scouse. [Andrew Sheret]

4th (4) Royal Rhyme
4Clifford LeeK R BurkeHis form took off with wins in Glorious Goodwood handicap (soft) and Ayr Listed event (good to soft) in the second half of last season; underlined how effective he his under testing conditions when adding a 1m2f Sandown Group 3 on his reappearance but showed he also handles fast ground when good fifth of ten to Auguste Rodin in Group 1 Prince Of Wales's at Royal Ascot; closely matched with Alflaila on that form.
2nd (5) King's Gambit
3Callum ShepherdHarry CharltonHugely impressive when 4l winner of the strong London Gold Cup (handicap) at Newbury (1m2f, good) on his reappearance in May and duly showed himself capable of making his presence felt at Group level when chasing home Jayarebe in the Hampton Court at Royal Ascot (1m2f, good to firm); the early signs suggest it was a good renewal of that race and he's almost certainly capable of better again.
3rd (1) Passenger
4Richard KingscoteSir Michael StouteFailed to stay in last year's Derby and most progressive otherwise, accounting for easy Wolferton winner Israr (pair well clear) in Group 2 Huxley at Chester (extended 1m2f, good to firm) on his reappearance in May; among the market leaders for the Group 1 Prince Of Wales's at Royal Ascot on the back of that but had to miss it due to an infection; has a 3lb penalty for Chester but still the one beat.
1st (2) Alflaila
5Jim CrowleyOwen BurrowsHas raced on only good or good to firm; won this on his 2023 reappearance and added to his solid record fresh when fourth (Royal Rhyme neck back in fifth) of ten to Auguste Rodin in the Prince Of Wales's at Royal Ascot last month; should go well in this race again.

A good renewal but it's still hard to ignore the claims of PASSENGER, who was impressive on his Chester reappearance and can set himself up for a possible tilt at next month's Group 1 Juddmonte International over C&D by giving the weight away here. Last year's winner Alflaila should give it another good shot but it could be that the chief threat comes from the very progressive 3yo King's Gambit. [Andrew Sheret]

2Clifford LeeK R BurkeCost 40,000euros at the breeze-ups and is a half-sister to 1m2f winner in Spain; dam Polish 7f 2yo winner; hails from one of the most powerful 2yo yards in the country but she does have a useful standard to aim at on debut.
(5) Loopey
2P J McDonaldMichael Appleby190,000euros yearling; Lope De Vega filly; closely related to Listed-placed 7f 2yo winner Bluedrum (RPR 92); dam, 6f 2yo/1m Listed winner (RPR 99), is out of 1m2f Group 2 winner; this is a warm race but she makes paper appeal.
2nd (7) Stormy Impact
2Oisin OrrRichard FaheyHalf-sister to connections' Norfolk winner The Ridler (RPR 102) so she's bred to go a bit; the betting should provide more clues.
4th (6) Mae Amor
2Richard KingscoteDavid O'MearaMehmas filly who showed plenty when third of ten on her 5.5f Wetherby debut (good) at the beginning of June; that race has thrown up winners and she should improve.
(2) Spherical
2Aidan KeeleyRoger VarianReadily beat two rivals to make winning debut at Yarmouth (5f, good to soft) in May then had excuses when well down the field in Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot (5f, good; lost place when denied clear run); moves up in trip today and remains capable of better.
(3) Glorious Kitty
2Billy GarrittyMichael & David EasterbyPitched into the Listed Marygate on her 5f course debut in May and shaped very well in fourth, the way she came back for more suggesting 6f now should be in her favour; likely to go well.
3rd (1) Beauty Queen
2Daniel TudhopeKevin RyanSoldier's Call filly who looked useful when a comfortable winner on her 5f Beverley debut (good to firm) 22 days ago; the way she drew clear late on suggests 6f will suit and she can make it 2-2.

Those with experience have shown plenty of promise, while the three newcomers make paper appeal so this is an interesting novice. There was a lot to like about the way BEAUTY QUEEN strode clear in the closing stages on her 5f Beverley debut and she's preferred to Marygate fourth Glorious Kitty. [Andrew Sheret]

(9) Power Of Gold
4Tom EavesJohn & Sean QuinnDoncaster winner off 2lb lower for Hugo Palmer last season (1m, good to firm); not in quite such good form since (mainly on the AW) and he is best watched on his stable debut on first run since January.
(14) Speriamo

4Billy GarrittyFionn McSharryWon twice over 7f on AW in February; back to form when narrow winner at Chester last month (7.5f, good) after a break; excuses for poor run on same track last time; this longer trip is a slight concern.
(7) Siam Fox

(11) Hortzadar
9Richard KingscoteDavid O'MearaNot particularly consistent these days and wasn't at his best at Ayr last time (1m2f, good); had run two decent races over 1m/1m2f before that; return to 1m may help; each-way chance.
(1) Brasil Power
5Callum ShepherdGeorge BougheyHas won three of his nine races on the AW, latest off 4lb lower at Kempton last September (7f); 0-7 on turf, but showed fair form in his younger days (beaten 15l on only turf start last season); not beaten far when fifth at Kempton last time but overall others look stronger.
(2) Master Of Combat
6Andrea PinnaKevin FrostDidn't run up to his best on turf last season but has since been in good form on the AW, winning at Wolverhampton in November (8.5f) and being placed in four of his six races since; off 110 days.
(10) Al Marmar
5Oisin OrrGemma TuttyNot the force of old (1m Ascot winner off 11lb higher as a 3yo) but three fair runs this season, notably when third at Doncaster last month (1m, good to soft); not ruled out.
4th (3) Barley
5David AllanTim EasterbyHas run with cheekpieces this term; well beaten over 1m1f on good to soft on last visit here (June) but has since won and finished a good second in two races at Carlisle (1m, good/good to firm); not out of it.
(16) My Harrison George
4Andrew MullenRichard FaheyOff the mark at Ayr last time (1m, good; third has won since); up a pound but this looks a stronger race.
(4) Eagle Day
4P J McDonaldDavid EvansBack to form recently, winning a Haydock handicap and following up off a 3lb higher mark at Chelmsford (1m); up another 5lb here, but conditions suit and he could run well.
(8) Zozimus
6Daniel TudhopeDavid O'MearaHas won only one of his 39 races and is 0-27 on turf; plenty of creditable efforts this season, including when fourth over 1m1f here in June (Boy Douglas second); could make the frame again.
1st (5) Theme Park
4Rowan ScottNigel TinklerGood second off 5lb lower over C&D last September (good); showed his best form this season when fifth over 1m2f here last time (good to soft); return to fast ground is ideal and he is on a career-low mark, so makes plenty of appeal, particularly from his low draw.
2nd (6) Boy Douglas
4Connor BeasleyMichael DodsHas come back after more than a year off with three good runs this term, winning at Ayr in June (1m, good) and finishing runner-up both other starts, latest over 1m2f here (good to soft); still feasibly handicapped; contender.

Plenty hold chances in this race, for which the well-handicapped THEME PARK is selected to get off the mark for the season now he's back on his preferred fast ground. The in-form Boy Douglas should also run well.[Colin Russell]

(3) Two Brothers
6Billy GarrittyMichael & David EasterbyClose on good to firm once last summer but nearly always seen with more give in the ground; three wins last year, the last over C&D; scored with authority at Thirsk (1m4f, soft) this April and ran respectably next time, before a rare poor effort back here on latest outing; not dismissed.

1st (1) Ziggy
6Richard KingscoteHarry Eustace451 days off before this season and he has returned with four good placings (two at Epsom, then two at Ascot); he's now back virtually to his best, with a rise in the weights too but he should go well again.
(5) Theory Of Tides
3Benoit De La SayetteJohn & Thady GosdenWon novices at Nottingham (1m2f, good) and Yarmouth (11.4f, good to soft; with plenty in hand) in May on his first two starts; 18-1 for the Group 2 King Edward VII at Royal Ascot (1m4f, good to firm) five weeks ago but always behind; has Great Voltigeur and St Leger entries, which gives some hope that he can find the marked overall improvement he needs with first-time cheekpieces on this handicap debut.

The lightly raced, Gosden-trained 3yo Theory Of Tides has to be feared on this step down from his Group 2 assignment at Royal Ascot and he still has big-race entries. However, this is also a step down in class for ZIGGY after his four placings in Class 2 handicaps this term and this may well be his chance to register a deserved win. Ron O has never been better but this trip asks a new question.[Richard Austen]
