Preference is for SANDS OF INDI who looked to come up against an above-average newcomer when runner-up on her debut. Captivate and the newcomer Suite Francais are obvious dangers.[Colin Russell]

4Rowan ScottEwan WhillansPlaced in three starts over 7f-8.6f on turf/Tapeta for Saeed bin Suroor in 2022, but having been off for 667 days (and gelded) he was well held on stable/handicap debut at Ayr (1m2f, good) last month; enough to prove.
(11) Voyeur
3Franny NortonCharlie JohnstonShowed some promise when fifth of 16 in a Chelmsford novice (1m, Polytrack) in May, but his other three efforts have been modest; half-brother to a Group 3 winner but needs to show improvement for the gelding operation and longer trip.
(10) Maith An Farhh
3Callum ShepherdJames FergusonAll four outings on the AW; some promise in his first three starts over 6f/1m last year, but having been off for 289 days (and gelded) he took a step backwards on handicap debut at Kempton (1m, Polytrack) last month; should stay the longer trip but has a bit to prove.
4th (5) Jack Sparowe
5Andrew MullenJohn ButlerScored at Bath (1m, good to soft) and at Kempton (1m3f, Polytrack) around this time last year; made an encouraging return when fifth of 14 at Windsor (1m2f, good) in April, but hasn't built on it twice since (including over C&D); best watched unless the market suggests otherwise.
(8) Brunello Breeze
5Tom EavesTom TateAll three wins came here last winter, the last two over this trip; can miss a beat at the start which he again did when behind two of these at Southwell (1m4f, Tapeta) 16 days ago, but if he can break on terms he has to be of interest back here.
2nd (9) Willy Campbell
3Liam KenirySylvester KirkHis two AW efforts have been much better than his three on turf and he was surrounded by subsequent winners when third of six at Chelmsford (1m2f, Polytrack) four weeks ago; considered from the same mark.
1st (2) Evening Story
4Oliver StammersGrant TuerThree wins last year included one on stable debut here (1m4f) in November; ran well when third of 14 over the same trip back here in June and and when filling the same position at Southwell (1m4f, Tapeta) 16 days ago, but this may not be far enough for her now.
(3) Freedom Day
4Jack GarrittyMark WalfordRedcar novice winner (1m, soft) for the Gosdens in April last year; has run with credit to finish fourth in his last two starts, including when 3l behind Evening Story at Southwell (1m4f, Tapeta) 16 days ago; needs more, though, with first-time cheekpieces replacing the hood.
(6) Bohemian Breeze
4Joe FanningCharlie JohnstonThree wins last year and 6lb lower than for the latest at Wolverhampton (1m4f, Tapeta) in November; ran well to be placed off this mark at Carlisle (1m3f, good) and Beverley (1m2f, good to firm) last month and one for the shortlist back on the AW; stable also runs Voyeur.
(7) Desperate Dan
3Ray DawsonPeter Chapple-HyamImproved on his first two starts over 1m2f/1m4f when second of nine in a Yarmouth maiden (7f, good) in July, albeit still 6l behind the winner; has been gelded since and steps back up in trip for this handicap debut; not quite sure what to expect.
3rd (4) Roger Henry
4David AllanGay KellewayWon on stable/handicap debut at Chelmsford (7f, Polytrack; first-time cheekpieces) in April and at Beverley (1m2f, soft) in July; beaten just a neck over this C&D next time and may not have stayed in a Goodwood seller (1m3f, good to soft) nine days ago; others preferred all the same.

Bohemian Breeze has become well treated and comes into this off the back of two good efforts on turf, while the maiden Wily Campbell looks much happier on the AW than turf and his latest Chelmsford third has been well advertised since. However, it may be worth siding with BRUNELLO BREEZE whose record around here reads 1411 and who should be cherry-ripe now after his two outings since returning in July.[David Bellingham]

(1) Haveyoumissedme
6Andrew MullenIain JardineRecord over C&D reads 21202, his latest effort when beaten just over a length by Zivaniya last month; a 3lb pull will help, but so would a stronger gallop and with a few others in here who have led in the past he may get it; respected.
(3) Zivaniya
4Callum ShepherdHugo PalmerHas won three of his last five starts, each of them steadily run races including when making all over C&D last month where he had three of these behind; 3lb rise not excessive, but whether he will enjoy the same luxury remains to be seen.
1st (7) Clockwatcher
3Joe FanningCharlie Johnston0-6 and has become disappointing after showing early promise, but he seems to lack for pace so stepping up half a mile in trip may be what he needs; worth considering.

The key to this may be the handicap over C&D last month won by Zivaniya, with HAVEYOUMISSEDME back in second, Captain Potter fifth and Clear White Light last of seven. The winner very much enjoyed the run of the race in front that day, but if they go more of a pace this time the runner-up would have a good chance of reversing the form. Clockwatcher may appreciate the step up in trip and looks best of the others.[David Bellingham]

(11) Rum Runner
9David AllanGeoffrey HarkerScored over 1m here in 2020 and returned to winning form at Beverley (7f, good to firm) in July; has only managed to win two of his last 46 starts, though, so he does have a bit to prove.
2nd (9) Barossa
4Rowan ScottNigel TinklerTwice runner-up in handicaps here (7f/1m) in April and finally off the mark at the 17th attempt in a 0-50 classified event over C&D in July; didn't do much once in front and tended to hang, but she still comes into this with stronger claims than many.
(4) Drakeholes
5David NolanAlison HamiltonBoth wins have come over C&D, the latest in a 0-50 classified event in March, while he finished a close third off this mark in a handicap at Southwell (7f, Tapeta) nine days later; looked to need his reappearance at Ayr in July and could go well with that run under his belt.
1st (1) Keep Me Stable
4Tommie JakesLinda PerrattSuddenly hit form on turf last month, easily winning a 0-50 classified event at Ayr (1m, good) and going down by a head in a handicap at Musselburgh (1m, good); lower in the weights than for both wins over C&D last November and well up the pecking order.

Dual C&D winner Drakeholes would be a player if coming on from his Ayr reappearance, while Barossa, who was successful here on her latest start, is another for the shortlist. See My Baby Jive, runner-up to her in that race, may not be far away again but the selection is KEEP ME STABLE. Dual C&D winner Dougies Dream is one to be interested in, especially having dropped 7lb below his last winning mark. Tees George is also worthy of consideration having won here a year ago and twice gone close this summer, but BARLEYBROWN looks solid having run well on turf last time and with a record of 2-3 over C&D. 5Ryan SextonJulie CamachoIn good form on AW over the winter, including a C&D win off 2lb lower; made an encouraging return to action when fourth in a 0-70 handicap at Doncaster 40 days ago, a race that represents extremely strong form for the grade; dropped 1lb and he's a major player down in class.
(7) Sergeant Mayer
3Rowan ScottNigel TinklerHe had been banging the door down prior to his Nottingham win last month (6f, good to firm); only seventh at Beverley last time but that not a reflection of his wellbeing as he was easing his way into contention up the rail when the gap closed and he lost all chance; should go well on AW debut.

The two with the most pressing claims look to be Sergeant Mayer and FLASH THE DASH (nap). The former was chopped off against the rail when making his move at Beverley last time and remains in form but Flash The Dash, a C&D winner over the winter, shaped well on his return to action at Doncaster and that form could hardly have worked out better.[Paul Smith]
