(13) Guttural
10Daire McConvillePhillippa TaylorWon off lowly mark at Worcester (2m4f, good) in June 2023 but has not fired on any of three appearances since returning from a layoff this summer.
(14) Beannaigh Do
7Shane QuinlanSheila Lewis0-20 under rules; not as far out of the weights today as is sometimes the case but still makes only limited appeal in first-time blinkers.
(6) Crobally Boy
9Murray DoddLouise AllanNot seen under rules since pulled up at Listowel in September 2022 and his only win in 11 subsequent points came in a three-runner maiden; probably best watched on first start for Louise Allan.
(8) Guguss Collonges
8Bradley HarrisRoger TealDual chase winner on ground slower than good last November (2m6f/2m7f) but seems badly to have lost his way (over fences and hurdles) since the turn of the year; leap of faith required to support him today.
(4) Jony Max
9Ellis CollierChristian WilliamsFour-time chase winner (3m-3m2f, good/good to soft); on a dangerous mark now but has been out of form since returning from a break in May and today's drop back in trip is probably not ideal.
(11) Ballinoulart
6Finn LambertDavid DennisMade frame in eight consecutive chases for Alastair Ralph from March 2023 to June 2024 but left that stable after modest run in June and has also disappointed on both starts for David Dennis; needs to turn a corner.
(1) Couldbeaweapon
7James MartinBen PaulingHas unconvincing record over fences but ran well to a point at Worcester (2m4f, good) in July, after a break, and has become well handicapped on hurdling form; suited by good and soft ground; one to consider.
(2) Abaya Du Mathan
12Jack HoganGary HanmerLong in the tooth now but a dual winner (once here) since joining Gary Hanmer last autumn; slightly disappointing on last couple of outings but current mark is workable and he's versatile ground-wise.
(9) Hey Day Baby
6Benjamin MaceyJonjo & A J O'NeillBurst into life with 12l win under Benjamin Macey at Market Rasen (2m5f, good) last month, her second start over fences, but was pulled up on soft ground at Newton Abbot a fortnight ago and is a hard mare to predict.
(10) Lonimoss Bareliere
8Philip ArmsonRob SummersBelied 40-1 odds when close second at Stratford (2m3f, good) in July but that was a weak race and his career strike-rate is now 0-36; others have stronger claims.
2nd (12) School For Scandal
9Taylor FisherJoe TickleSeemingly boosted by first-time cheekpieces when second at Hereford (2m5f, soft) in February but his form has slumped again since and he's difficult to enthuse over.
(7) Pawpaw
7James TurnerD J JeffreysGenerally disappointing since joining current stable last summer but arrested decline with close third (just behind Get With It) off much-reduced mark at Worcester (2m7f, good) last month; won't mind if the ground turns soft.
1st (5) Smurfette
6Toby WynneT EllisTravelled well for long way on first two starts for Tom Ellis (2m4f/2m1f, good) and was second to a progressive subsequent winner at Fontwell (2m5f, good) last month; seems versatile ground-wise; high on the list.
3rd (3) Get With It
9Tristan DurrellDan SkeltonTwo good runs for new stable this summer, the latter when keeping-on second at Worcester (2m7f, good; also has form on soft) 23 days ago; drops back in trip with cheekpieces enlisted; leading contender.

He was a beaten favourite on his first two starts for Dan Skelton but GET WITH IT probably didn't have the race run to suit when a strong-finishing second at Worcester three weeks ago, and he remains of interest. He drops back in trip with cheekpieces fitted and it will be interesting to see whether connections switch to more positive tactics. Smurfette ran well in defeat at Fontwell last month and is second choice, while Couldbeaweapon has become well handicapped on hurdling form.[Chris Wilson]

4th (3) Just Four Fame
7Tom BellamyDavid DennisPlaced in good-ground Aintree bumper on rules debut in May 2022 but not seen again until tailed off in soft-ground novice hurdle in February; may yet make up for lost time but is not the most obvious answer here.
3rd (2) Fidendum
5Kielan WoodsDavid Killahena & Graeme McPhersonNot beaten far in any of his three bumpers, most recently when fourth of five at Stratford (good) this month, but needs to take a big step forward on this hurdling debut and will remain a risky option until he learns to settle better.
(6) Soldier's Leap
4Miss Gina AndrewsT EllisBrother to fair hurdler Hombre De Guerra; lost out only by a neck in maiden point (2m4f, good to soft) on debut in May but was tailed off in a recent maiden hurdle (2m, good).
(4) Latenightrumble
7Harry SkeltonT EllisHalf-brother to same connections' useful hunter chasers Latenightpass and Latenightfumble; 4-7 in points before creditable second in Cheltenham hunter chase (3m2f, soft) on rules debut in May; an interesting candidate for novice hurdles this season but needs to prove he can cope with this sharp drop in trip.
1st (1) Dodger Long
4Bradley HarrisHarriet DickinSigned off for Anthony Charlton with win against own age group at Taunton (2m, soft) in March and twice went close on good ground for new stable last month (2m/2m1f); might remain vulnerable under his penalty but probably won't be far away.
2nd (5) Yokkell
5Alex HarveyJohn C McConnellDeveloped into a useful Flat racer since joining John McConnell last autumn and was left clear to win comfortably by 19l on last month's hurdling debut at Down Royal (2m1f, good); should cope if the ground softens here and commands respect.

Dodger Long (second choice) ought to give another good account, while it will be interesting to see how four-time point winner Latenightrumble fares on today's hurdling debut. Useful Flat racer YOKKELL made a pleasing start to her hurdling career at Down Royal last month, though, and looks the one to beat.[Chris Wilson]

3rd (6) Exmoor Forest
7David NoonanNigel HawkeHad taken pretty well to fences until pulling up the last time two months ago; has to bounce back from that but still on a reasonable mark.
(1) Itso Fury
7Jonjo O'Neill JrJonjo & A J O'NeillDefied a higher mark over hurdles but he hasn't looked a natural in either of his chases (both handicaps; 2m4f/2m5f), finishing 24l and 37l behind the winner; needs to sharpen up his act.
(8) Illogical Logic
6Jack TudorChristian Williams0-6 over hurdles and ended up tailed off on his switch to fences 23 days ago (2m4f); should stay 3m but others preferred.
4th (7) Phil De Pail
7Toby WynneOliver Greenall & Josh GuerrieroUnseated rider on debut over fences but then won comfortably at Uttoxeter (3m, good) and nearly followed up under the same conditions at Market Rasen; open to further progress.
2nd (3) Roll With It
8James BowenPeter & Michael BowenHad a solid summer and from off the pace he ran out a clearcut winner at Worcester three weeks ago (2m7f, good); that's come at a cost to the tune of 10lb but he's on a roll.
(4) Galloping Pride
7Ben JonesEmma LavelleVisored the last twice when finishing runner-up in 2m7f handicaps at Worcester, front running last time; has gone up 5lb for those defeats and Tom Bellamy jumps ship to Crypto Currency.
(5) Crypto Currency
7Tom BellamyEmma LavellePoint winner; didn't hang about over hurdles and has run well in all three chases over 2m4f, including here; finished his final race out strongly and stepping up to 3m should be just the ticket.
1st (2) G A Henty
7Harry SkeltonDan SkeltonLikes Market Rasen and he kept digging (after getting outpaced) to be close up on his chase debut there last month (3m, good); ran well here over hurdles and, off an untouched mark from last time, he should be in the thick of it.

This is competitive but CRYPTO CURRENCY appears to be crying out for this step up to 3m and Tom Bellamy prefers him to stablemate Galloping Pride who isn't without a chance. Roll With It has had to take a 10lb rise on the chin for winning so well at Worcester and the danger could be G A Henty after his pleasing chase debut.[Alistair Jones]

4th (7) Innisfree Lad
12Theo GillardDavid DennisGood stalwart over the years, with nine wins on his CV; inconsistent nowadays and no longer the force of old but won't fail through lack of stamina; swaps blinkers for refitted cheekpieces; not out of this if ready to roll after a five-month break.
(6) Jimmy The Digger
11Alice StevensHenry DalyOut of form during light campaign last season and absent since pulled up in February; given a good chance by the handicapper in the meantime but his current ability is tricky to gauge; might be ideally suited by good ground but copes well with soft.
(2) Castle Robin
9Paul O'BrienCharlie LongsdonSeen only three times last season and was beaten about 36l on consecutive outings in February/March (had wind op afterwards); returns from 199-break with questions to answer but has good record when fresh and has slipped to a tempting mark; won't mind what the weather does; interesting.
(4) Sacre Coeur
8Tristan DurrellDan SkeltonKeen-going front-runner who won three chases last autumn (2m-2m5f) and looked as good as ever when rallying second at Cheltenham (2m, good) in April; not quite in same form lately but is versatile ground-wise; a possible.
3rd (1) Pull Again Green
8Liam HarrisonFergal O'BrienInconsistent over last year or so but posted sound effort when returned to chasing at Worcester (2m7f, good) last month and remains on a workable mark; seems best on good/good to soft ground.
(3) Presentandcounting
10Brian HughesDonald McCainGood-ground specialist with fine 7-21 strike-rate over fences; on good mark now but needs first-time cheekpieces to help him bounce back from two disappointing runs, and the forecast rain is a big negative.
2nd (8) Planned Paradise
8Jack TudorChristian WilliamsWon easily by 13l off much reduced mark at Perth (2m4f, good) in July and will be fine over today's longer trip but his recent efforts have been underwhelming and he's up in grade here; effective on good and soft ground; others appeal more.
1st (5) Get Up Mush
6Harry SkeltonDan Skelton2-4 over fences since returning from long absence in June, the latter success gained at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good) in July; managed only fourth when warm favourite for latest race but wasn't beaten far, and could have untapped potential over this new trip; seems fine on good and soft ground.

Castle Robin has a touch of class about him and will be dangerous off his current mark if back on song after a wind op and a break. However, there is probably still more to come from low-mileage 6yo GET UP MUSH (nap), who has made a bright start to his chasing career this season and now ventures beyond 2m5f for the first time under rules. Pull Again Green is next on the list.[Chris Wilson]

(11) Olivia Kate
5Richard PatrickMatt SheppardOutran 50-1 odds when placed in Worcester novice (2m, good) in June but finished well down the field in her first two handicaps; moves back up in trip with cheekpieces added.
(12) Pollyonesock
6Toby WynneOliver Greenall & Josh GuerrieroPlaced in a maiden hurdle in spring 2023 but looked out badly out of sorts when pulled up on consecutive appearances in May and needs to have been revitalised by four-month break; cheekpieces removed after one use.
4th (8) Regally Blonde
5Harry BannisterBen Case0-8 over hurdles, having ended last season with two disappointing efforts, and absent since struggling on the Flat in April; returns from break in first-time cheekpieces and with quite a lot to prove.
1st (9) Apples Moon
5James BowenNicky MartinUnexposed after only three hurdling starts but didn't show a great deal in three 2m novice/maiden races in first half of this year and needs improvement on this handicap debut.
(7) The Midwife
6Conor RingGrace HarrisNow back on same mark as when causing 25-1 surprise at Market Rasen (2m4f, good to soft) in February but her subsequent form is underwhelming and she has fitness to prove after a 137-day break.
(10) Valentine Getaway
6Richie McLernonJonjo & A J O'NeillRan well in defeat behind a progressive mare at Huntingdon (3m1f, good) in May but her form has dipped in the meantime and she's now 0-13 over hurdles.
(13) Bella Ciao
7Daire McConvilleMartin Keighley0-8 over hurdles; suggested her turn might be near when second at Southwell (3m, good to soft) in July 2023 but returned from one-year absence with a lesser effort over 2m4f, and has been off form another ten weeks since.
3rd (5) Faerie Cutlass
6Ciaran GethingsKim BaileyLeft behind by wide-margin winner when second of 13 at Worcester (2m7f, good) in July but that was still a pretty good effort, and she was in contention before falling at third-last flight there (2m4f, good) this month; may not be favoured by any rain but makes more appeal than most of these.
(1) I Am Gonna Be
7Lilly PinchinCharlie LongsdonHas mixed record over fences since last autumn but was a respectable fifth in a much stronger race than this when back over hurdles at Worcester (2m4f, good) last month and is another 3lb lower here; seems best suited by good/good to soft ground; big player.
(6) Hot Fizzy Lizzy
5Tristan DurrellDan SkeltonPlaced in slowly run Stratford novice (2m, good to firm) in July and reportedly lost her action when pulled up on handicap debut there later that month; not one of her stable's stars but remains unexposed.
(4) Duchamps Art
4Murray DoddAlastair RalphSigned off for Willie Mullins with 32l defeat in 2m4f Worcester handicap at start of this month and with hurdling strike-rate standing at 0-8; needs to have been perked up by switch to new stable; cheekpieces added.
(2) Leave Her To Me
6Kielan WoodsDavid Killahena & Graeme McPhersonBettered inauspicious hurdling debut when game winner of Uttoxeter maiden (2m, good) in July and didn't run badly on her subsequent appearance but probably needs to make further progress on this handicap debut.
2nd (3) Fashionelle
5James BestFergal O'BrienRan well in her first three handicaps then took form to whole new level at Worcester (2m4f, good) last week, keeping on strongly to win readily by over 7l; could still be well treated under 7lb penalty but will have something to prove if the ground is slower than good.

Fashionelle drew nicely clear of a well-handicapped rival to open her account at Worcester last week and is respected under her penalty but slight preference is for class-dropper I AM GONNA BE, who may be better equipped to cope if the ground softens and who ran quite well when back over hurdles last month. Faerie Cutlass is next on the list.[Chris Wilson]

10Kielan WoodsDavid Killahena & Graeme McPhersonTailed off in his last hurdle race and suffered a similar fate in three subsequent chases; that's more his game, so opposable on this occasion.
3rd (2) Butler's Brief
9Nick ScholfieldAlastair RalphOn a good mark but has struggled in cheekpieces/blinkers since returning from a break; best watched for now.
(5) Highland Frolic
5Gavin SheehanMark RimellWon a maiden hurdle in April 2023; signed off for Milton Harris in modest form and has been tailed off in two of his three Flat runs for this yard; others safer.
5th (7) Ballyvaughan Bay
7Tom BellamyD J JeffreysGround it out from the front over 3m at Southwell (good) and the shorter trip of 2m6f on a tighter track perhaps found him out at Stratford since; still lightly raced and unlikely that he's handicapped out of it (6lb above his win).
7th (1) Dynamite Kentucky
9Luke ScottDr Richard Newland & Jamie InsoleDidn't have a lot in hand at Worcester (2m7f, good) and has gone up 5lb; however, he won't mind the recent rain and a lack of stamina won't stop him.
(9) Fine By Me
7Jamie BraceNigel Twiston-DaviesDrew clear to win comfortably at Stratford (3m2f, good) and was challenging when taking a heavy late fall at Newton Abbot (off this 6lb higher mark); needs good ground so watch the weather.
1st (6) Craven Bay
8Kevin BroganToby Lawes2m7f maiden winner; kept on to be beaten 9l over that same trip in his second handicap and this far is worth a go; still lightly raced; new trainer.
4th (10) Time To Tinker
9Robert DunneGary HanmerBecame disappointing for Paul Nicholls; an improved run for this yard when a 3l third at Bangor but that was over 2m3f; others can see this out stronger.
2nd (4) Chatty Chich
6Harry SkeltonDan SkeltonWon handicaps at Huntingdon (3m1f, good) and Fakenham (2m7f, good) before getting found out by the drop back to 2m4f at Worcester (still ran well); softening ground would be a cause for concern.

Softening ground would be a worry for Chatty Chich and Fine By Me. DYNAMITE KENTUCKY is on a tough mark but has plenty going for him otherwise and he's preferred over Ballyvaughan Bay.[Alistair Jones]

6th (3) In Rem
9David NoonanJane WilliamsWon over C&D in 2022 and reverted to hurdling with pretty good third at Exeter (2m7f, soft) in March; ended last season with a lesser effort and is not one to rely upon but significant rain will bump him up the pecking order.
(8) The Wise Traveller
8Kielan WoodsSarah HumphreyWon twice on good ground for new stable last season (3m1f/2m7f), and his clear second to a revitalised rival at Huntingdon (3m1f, good) in May was also a good effort; returns from three-month break on workable mark but the forecast rain dents his appeal.
(6) Prince De Juilley
7Jonathan BurkeAlastair RalphJust did enough to open hurdling account off today's mark over C&D (good) in May; obvious contender if judged on that performance but his form has slumped badly since and he probably doesn't want the ground any slower than good to soft; usual cheekpieces removed; tongue-tie added.
7th (9) Faded Fantasy
5Nick ScholfieldChristian WilliamsYet to build upon his easy maiden win in spring 2023, and this year's record is rather mixed; ran okay when fifth (behind Stans The Man and Tzarmix) at Worcester (2m7f, good) last month and also has form on soft ground but he's not the percentage call.
5th (1) Tzarmix
6Max KendrickJonjo & A J O'NeillUnplaced all five starts since switching to current stable but not beaten far when keeping-on fourth at Worcester (2m7f, good; Stans The Man second) last month and will be favoured by the forecast rain.
3rd (5) Champetre
6Gavin SheehanOliver Signy0-7 over hurdles and hasn't always looked enthusiastic but was one of two to pull clear of the others when close second at Worcester (2m7f, good) last month and has claims here if the ground doesn't deteriorate too much.
1st (4) Stans The Man
7James BestElla PickardHas emerged from a spell in the doldrums since fitted with cheekpieces for last three races, most notably when close second at Worcester (2m7f, good) two starts ago; may not be favoured by the forecast rain here but remains well handicapped on older form.
2nd (2) Clararose
6Harry SkeltonDan SkeltonScored by 5l here (2m5f, good) in May and has remained in good form since (2m3f-2m7f); not yet proven on ground slower than good to soft or over this far but still features prominently in calculations.

Clararose has made the frame on all four starts since her 2m5f course win in May and might still have a bigger performance in her but she's one of a few in this line-up who would prefer the forecast rain not to arrive. TZARMIX ran respectably on both outings since cheekpieces were added this summer and, with a soft-ground win on his CV, he might be the one to side with. C&D winner In Rem will also welcome rain.[Chris Wilson]
