1st (7) (16/1 +0%) Royal Athena |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Royal Athena 16/1, Respectable fifth of 17 in handicap (18/1) at Newbury (10f, good) 24 days ago. No more than an each-way squeak. Has hinted at winning potential; by a Derby winner so this longer trip is worth exploring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (0.29/1 +28%) Blindedbythelights |
0.29/1(+28%) | (1) Blindedbythelights 0.29/1, Promising sort. 7/4, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Yarmouth (11.5f, good to firm) 4 days ago, plenty in hand. Appeals as the type who will run up a sequence for his shrewd yard and hard to oppose under a penalty here. Won eased down at Yarmouth and should be hard to beat under a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/1 +8%) Dovena |
11/1(+8%) | (5) Dovena 11/1, Winner at Brighton in May. 10/3, fourth of 7 in handicap at Bath (11.6f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Strong contender for place money. Handles this track but not sure what to expect after her heavy defeat at Bath. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +38%) Fullforward |
10/1(+38%) | (4) Fullforward 10/1, Sixth of 7 in handicap at Bath (10.2f, firm, 4/1) 17 days ago. Each-way chance. In form until perhaps not letting himself down on firm last time; unraced beyond 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (22/1 -83%) Little Tiger |
22/1(-83%) | (8) Little Tiger 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Fifth of 8 in handicap (4/1) at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 20 days ago, left poorly placed. Best to look elsewhere from a win point of view. Only 4-1 when nothing went right on handicap debut; may well do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/1 +36%) Caraxes |
9/1(+36%) | (2) Caraxes 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 14/1 and blinkered for 1st time, seventh of 9 in handicap at Salisbury (12f, good to firm) 25 days ago. In good hands but sizeable step forward needed. Showed no benefit from a gelding operation or blinkers when soon outpaced at Salisbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (50/1 -100%) Star Sight |
50/1(-100%) | (10) Star Sight 50/1, 12/1, eleventh of 14 in handicap at Bath (10.2f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Hood back on and would be in with a serious each-way chance if reproducing form of her near-miss in a Chelmsford nursery last November. Regressive profile and this new trip poses further doubts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (40/1 +20%) Limelight |
40/1(+20%) | (9) Limelight 40/1, Ninth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, good to firm, 18/1) 23 days ago. Significantly up in trip and tongue strap on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter. Has yet to reproduce the promise of her debut fourth at Kempton (1m, AW) last August. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS proved a different proposition when winning with ease on his handicap debut at Yarmouth on Thursday and a 6lb penalty is unlikely to prevent the son of Protectionist from going in again. The Pug wasn't disgraced when finding only a progressive rival too good at Wolverhampton in April and he can give the selection plenty to think about, while Fullforward may have some improvement in him now stepped up in trip.
BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS made a winning handicap debut in a better-quality race than this at Yarmouth last week and he is very difficult to oppose under a penalty, particularly given the obvious scope for improvement that he possesses. Fullforward and Dovena are taken to fill the places, in that order of preference, though Star Sight would also be a contender for minor money if reproducing her peak form.
Sir Mark Prescott's BLINDEDBYTHELIGHTS dotted up at Yarmouth four days ago and could easily run up a sequence.

Stepney Causeway |
(2) (4.5/1 -100%)4.5/1(-100%) | (2) Stepney Causeway 4.5/1, Useful hurdles winner for Dan Skelton. Yet to get his head in front in this sphere but he did score on the level at Saint Moritz for present yard in February and not beaten far behind all-the-way winner back chasing at Warwick 12 days ago. Can go well. 0-11 over fences but he's on a reduced mark and ran well at Warwick 12 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (1.1/1 +8%) Al Zaraqaan |
1.1/1(+8%) | (1) Al Zaraqaan 1.1/1, Smart at best on the Flat and completed a 4-timer over hurdles (3 wins in handicaps) for previous yard last season. Made a successful debut over fences in similar event at Cartmel a fortnight ago, benefitting from the good pace. Big shout again if this doesn't become tactical. Won on chase debut at Cartmel last month and a 4lb rise looks fair; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1.5/1 +40%) Donnie Azoff |
1.5/1(+40%) | (3) Donnie Azoff 1.5/1, Off the mark at the fifth time of asking over hurdles when seeing off 8 rivals in a 2m Taunton maiden in March and made a decent fist of it on first go chasing at Ffos Las 16 days ago, albeit only 5 of the 13 fences were jumped. Could progress. Made a solid start over fences when runner-up at Ffos Las 16 days ago; on same mark here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Stepney Causeway is yet to hit the heights over fences after 11 starts without success but, if he could repeat his hurdling form over the larger obstacles, he is undoubtedly well handicapped off this mark. AL ZARAQAAN was also decent enough over hurdles, but he is now rated higher having won his only chase at Cartmel despite taking a while to get into a rhythm. If he improves as hoped, he may be able to give weight away all round, leaving Donnie Azoff to follow them home.
Potentially messy to say the least and tactics could be key. DONNIE AZOFF does at least have the air of one who could improve over fences (certainly has the size for chasing) and he's given the tentative vote.
The vote goes to AL ZARAQAAN, who has won ten times under both codes including a comfortable success on his chase debut at Cartmel.

1st (3) (4/1 -14%) Royal Dream |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Royal Dream 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap (6/1) at Lingfield (10f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Fast ground an excuse latest and his previous 2l fourth at Southwell brings him into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5.5/1 -65%) Obama Army |
5.5/1(-65%) | (7) Obama Army 5.5/1, Winner at Bath in May. 6/4, creditable second of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (9f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. In better form than a lot and leading claims. An uncomplicated prominent racer who is having a very solid season from 1m to 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (50/1 -100%) Third Batch |
50/1(-100%) | (8) Third Batch 50/1, 28/1 and blinkered for 1st time, seventh of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (7.6f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Hood on 1st time, cheekpieces on 1st time. Happier on the AW and has run well over C&D; chance if taking to headgear switch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (2/1 +83%) Kitaro Kich |
2/1(+83%) | (2) Kitaro Kich 2/1, 13/2, ninth of 10 in handicap at Goodwood (9.9f, heavy) 37 days ago. Ran okay in two 1m AW handicaps at Kempton earlier this year; heavy ground latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (11/1 +31%) Mysterious Maestro |
11/1(+31%) | (9) Mysterious Maestro 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Fifteenth of 16 in handicap (33/1) at Newmarket (7f, good) 24 days ago, left poorly placed. Significantly up in trip. Blinkers on 1st time, tongue strap on 1st time. This is easier and the extra headgear could help. One to note. Drawn wide with different headgear and comes with risks up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (16/1 +0%) Abravaggio |
16/1(+0%) | (12) Abravaggio 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm, 16/1) 11 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes polytrack debut. Uninspiring so far but up in trip here and there's stamina in the pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (66/1 -100%) Dee's Dream |
66/1(-100%) | (13) Dee's Dream 66/1, Below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Goodwood (9.9f, heavy, 40/1) 37 days ago, unsuited by step up in trip. Could yet improve for this far but will need to as she's been looking exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (25/1 -108%) Melwood Boy |
25/1(-108%) | (5) Melwood Boy 25/1, Promise in a trio of maidens on the AW earlier this year but improvement has not been forthcoming switched to handicap company, last of 9 at Haydock (11/1, 10.2f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Kicked off with a couple of thirds in 1m maidens but bitterly disappointing since then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (7/1 +56%) Roman Art |
7/1(+56%) | (4) Roman Art 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Off 4 months. disappointing when eleventh of 17 in handicap (well-backed 5/1) at Newbury (10f, good) 24 days ago. Dropped away on handicap debut; only 5-1 and can be given another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (80/1 -142%) House Of Dragons |
80/1(-142%) | (6) House Of Dragons 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (7.6f, good to firm, 20/1) 9 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Has work to do. Gone backwards in two handicaps for this yard (at about 7f) and he's not bred for this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (40/1 -150%) Foinix |
40/1(-150%) | (10) Foinix 40/1, Winner at Chelmsford City in February. 15/2, sixth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f) 90 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive. Given a break since below-par run latest; has form here and the ability to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (150/1 -127%) Earthy Mangold |
150/1(-127%) | (14) Earthy Mangold 150/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1 and hooded for 1st time, first run since leaving Joseph Parr when last of 13 in handicap at Kempton (7f) on return 33 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Uphill task. Tailed off on stable/handicap debut; has an awful lot to prove raised in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (5.5/1 -57%) Jalapa |
5.5/1(-57%) | (1) Jalapa 5.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 28/1, fourth of 11 in minor event at Chelmsford City (8f) 18 days ago, still looking rough around the edges. Up in trip. Blinkers on 1st time. Makes handicap debut and she could do better now. Disappointing so far given excellent pedigree; up in trip for h'cap debut and blinkered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
OBAMA ARMY arrives in fine form and a latest 1lb rise for his runner-up effort at Carlisle may not be enough to stop Jack Channon's gelding from regaining the winning thread. Handicap debutant Jalapa looks to be on a fair opening mark and she may have more to offer in this sphere. Royal Dream offered something to work with when staying on into fifth on his first attempt over this distance here last month.
OBAMA ARMY is in better form than most and can resume winning ways if keeping up the good work back on AW. Mysterious Maestro is worth considering back in calmer waters in new headgear, while Juddmonte's Jalapa is predictably bred to be a lot better than a class 6 handicapper and could do a lot better now.
Jack Channon's OBAMA ARMY (nap) scores highly on consistency and that's a big selling point at this level.

1st (7) (2.75/1 +0%) Prince Cleni |
2.75/1(+0%) | (7) Prince Cleni 2.75/1, Little form over hurdles but left chasing debut well behind after 5 months off when runner-up at Uttoxeter (24f, soft) 37 days ago, sticking to task after not fluent again last. Tongue strap on 1st time.Considered. 0-8 but ran well in defeat last month, after a break; high on the list. |

2nd (8) (4/1 +0%) Miss Antipova |
4/1(+0%) | (8) Miss Antipova 4/1, Remains a maiden after 18 NH runs but he posted a creditable second of 11 in handicap chase here (20.4f, good) 28 days ago. Shortlisted. Second in two chases this spring (2m3f/2m4f) and will be fine over today's trip; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (22/1 -22%) Touch Tight |
22/1(-22%) | (3) Touch Tight 22/1, Has struggled to get competitive in handicap hurdles and this winning pointer unseated his rider at the first on his belated chasing debut at Plumpton in January, 2022. Hard to warm to. 2-5 in points this year but has more on his plate now back under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (3/1 +25%) First Man |
3/1(+25%) | (6) First Man 3/1, Modest hurdler/chaser who wasn't disgraced on the back of breathing surgery when fourth of 6 in handicap hurdle at this C&D (good) 19 days ago. Switches to fences and merits serious consideration off a 6 lb lower mark. Ran well in his last two hurdle races but has developed worrying tendency to finish weakly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (12/1 -9%) Lough Salt |
12/1(-9%) | (9) Lough Salt 12/1, Arrives in decen nick, fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Doncaster (24f, good to soft) 87 days ago. Not discounted off an easing mark. Not the force of old but his last two runs were respectable; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (11) (16/1 +52%) Master Mead |
16/1(+52%) | (11) Master Mead 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Pulled up in novice hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) 19 months ago. Has his fitness to prove on his chase debut. Struggled in three novice hurdles in 2021 but worth a glance in the betting here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (6/1 +25%) Miss Wachit |
6/1(+25%) | (5) Miss Wachit 6/1, Modest winner at 20f over hurdles. 13/2, remote fourth of 7 in handicap at Market Rasen (23.9f, good) back over fences 21 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Good claims on last year's course form but yet to get going for new stable this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 +64%) King Otis |
12/1(+64%) | (4) King Otis 12/1, Modest ex-Irish maiden hurdler who hasn't shown much in 3 starts for present connections, having a wind op before only eighth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, good to soft) 23 days ago. Makes chase debut with lots to prove. Tailed off over hurdles last month and now 0-7 in that sphere; makes chasing debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (18/1 -29%) Auld Sod |
18/1(-29%) | (10) Auld Sod 18/1, Unreliable individual who was pulled up in handicap chase at Fontwell (26f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive. Placed at big odds two runs ago but quickly back in the doldrums last time; too unreliable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (33/1 -136%) Policy Breaker |
33/1(-136%) | (2) Policy Breaker 33/1, 22/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (24.4f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Lots to prove now going chasing. Pulled up on recent handicap hurdle debut but worth a market check before chasing debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Shar Whats Therush looks interesting on his debut for Dr Richard Newland, who also owns the gelding, but he needs to find more judged on his fences form in Ireland. Prince Cleni was beaten less than a length on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter and warrants plenty of respect, but TOUCH TIGHT may have the edge. Unseated on his only chase effort under Rules in January 2022, he has won two point-to-points since then and deserves another chance at this level.
FIRST MAN showed the benefit of wind surgery when a recent fourth over C&D and can capitalise on a 6 lb lower mark now at the chief expense of in-form maiden Miss Antipova. Uttoxeter runner-up Prince Cleni and veteran Lough Salt complete the shortlist.
Low-mileage 5yo PRINCE CLENI seemed to have got his act together when second at Uttoxeter last month and may still have potential.

1st (1) (4/1 +50%) Wiseacre |
4/1(+50%) | (1) Wiseacre 4/1, Fourth of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm, 10/1) 11 days ago. Down another 2 lb but couldn't be sure that he will benefit from this step up to a mile. Risky for now after three below-par runs and this is his first time over 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (5/1 +17%) Galileo Glass |
5/1(+17%) | (10) Galileo Glass 5/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2021. Blinkered for 1st time, sixth of 7 in handicap (4/1) at Yarmouth (8f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Visor back on and now 2 lb lower compared to when going close over C&D in March. Two recent seconds to his name; below par of late; headgear not helped him before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 +17%) Eton College |
10/1(+17%) | (6) Eton College 10/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2021. 11/1, second of 5 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) 31 days ago. Reproduction of that effort would put him in the picture but placed just once from 9 starts on the AW. On a good mark and was better last time, but record of 0-9 on the AW is a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/1 -75%) Meng Tian |
7/1(-75%) | (2) Meng Tian 7/1, Bit below form fifth of 10 in handicap at Yarmouth (10.1f, good to firm, 11/1) 19 days ago. Back down in trip and now equipped with cheekpieces and a hood. Vulnerable for win purposes. New headgear is a grey area (has worn blinkers) but has the form to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (22/1 -22%) Luna Queen |
22/1(-22%) | (8) Luna Queen 22/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in April. 9/1, fifth of 6 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 33 days ago. Significantly back up in trip and she's likely to find one or two too good. Dual Lingfield winner (7f-1m) but comes with risks given her tendency to start slowly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (2.75/1 +31%) Daphne May |
2.75/1(+31%) | (7) Daphne May 2.75/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Bath in April. Fourth of 6 in handicap on the turf course here (11.6f, good to firm, 5/2) 11 days ago. Significantly back down in trip and she's in with a shout. Pulled too hard last time over much further; likes it here and usually consistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (10/1 -82%) Dourado |
10/1(-82%) | (9) Dourado 10/1, 9/1, won 13-runner handicap at Kempton (8f) 40 days ago. Remains on a workable mark up 4 lb and while he's not exactly an obvious type to follow up, this 9-y-o has to be respected. Didn't go unbacked when snapping a long losing run at Kempton and he's only 4lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (150/1 -127%) Stepmother |
150/1(-127%) | (3) Stepmother 150/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 150/1, last of 7 in handicap at Sandown (9f, good to soft) 27 days ago. Best to look elsewhere. Has finished a tailed-off last in two races for this yard (1m4f novice; 1m1f handicap). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (10/1 +38%) Beau Jardine |
10/1(+38%) | (11) Beau Jardine 10/1, C&D winner. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, bit below form fourth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Kempton (6f) 54 days ago. Significantly back up in trip on debut for new yard. Mark continues to tumble and last two efforts weren't too bad (7f/6f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (10/1 +38%) Dubai Immo |
10/1(+38%) | (4) Dubai Immo 10/1, Remains a maiden after 18 Flat runs. Last of 9 in handicap (100/1) at Newmarket (8f, good) 24 days ago. Back down in class and would be a live contender off this career-low mark were he to put his best foot forward. Placed for previous yard but hasn't shown much at all for this one and now 0-18. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The combination of a 135-day break and lower mark saw Dourado gain a first success since November 2017 and, with that in mind, he may be worth taking on now 4lb higher in the ratings. WELOOF appeared to have more races in him when winning on his penultimate start over C&D in February and he's best excused his poor start at Wolverhampton last time. Meng Tian's mark continues to slide and he's noted now tried in new headgear.
Dropping back in trip here is unlikely to inconvenience DAPHNE MAY, who is one of the more appealing candidates in a wide-open handicap. Galileo Glass is 0-12 on the all-weather but he went close here off a higher mark 3 starts back and is next on the list. Dubai Immo's recent efforts leave much to be desired but he is dangerous to discount having slipped to an attractive mark, while Wiseacre has form claims but this step up in trip is of dubious benefit.
Gary Moore's DAPHNE MAY will appreciate coming back in distance and she's consistent.

7/1(-8%) | (4) Captain Ivan 7/1, Dual hurdles winner during 2021 who capitalised on his much-reduced mark over fences in a C&D handicap in November. Creditable third of 4 at Leicester over Christmas. Off since. Has a first-time hood combined with a refitted tongue tie. C&D winner in November but was held in final run last year; has some work to do on return. |

2nd (1) (1.5/1 +45%) First Angel |
1.5/1(+45%) | (1) First Angel 1.5/1, Drew a blank for Laura Morgan but struck at the first time of asking for the Martin Keighley stable in 17f Stratford handicap 22 days ago. Should remain competitive after a 6 lb rise. Made a big impact on his stable debut when scoring at Stratford (2m1f, good); key player. |

3rd (3) (3/1 +14%) Chess Player |
3/1(+14%) | (3) Chess Player 3/1, Showed improved form when scoring on chase debut at Worcester last July and added to his tally when making light of an 8-month absence at Huntingdon (2m, good) a fortnight ago. Likely to go well again. Made it 2-4 over fences when beating a clear second at Huntingdon last month; respected. |

4th (7) (20/1 +39%) Robin Des Mana |
20/1(+39%) | (7) Robin Des Mana 20/1, Caused a 40/1 surprise when scoring over fences at Worcester (2m) in July 2021 but more miss than hit in only 5 outings since. His last success was in 2021 and this 12yo has been well held in his three runs this year. |

5th (6) (6.5/1 +13%) Alghazaal |
6.5/1(+13%) | (6) Alghazaal 6.5/1, Struck at the second time of asking over fences when quickening 8 lengths clear at Ludlow last month. Probably overdid things in front when fading to finish a remote fourth to Chess Player at Huntingdon 3 weeks later. Won at Ludlow last month but was disappointing behind Chess Player at Huntingdon last time. |

|PU| (2) (4.5/1 +0%) Madiba Passion |
4.5/1(+0%) | (2) Madiba Passion 4.5/1, Bounced back quickly from a lesser effort at Ffos Las when winning a small-field race at Huntingdon (2m, good to firm) last month, in command when left well clear last. Raised 3 lb. Recorded his breakthrough win under rules when scoring at Huntingdon; in the mix again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Captain Ivan deserves a second look with a course and distance win here last September, but he races off 6lb higher now and is having his first start since an acceptable third in late December. CHESS PLAYER has two wins from four starts over fences including last month at Huntingdon and, although he made mistakes late on that day, he may do better if produced at the last minute. First Angel and Madiba Passion are others to consider.
If CHESS PLAYER is in the same mood as when successful at Huntingdon a couple of weeks ago he could be the way to go. Fellow last-time-out scorers First Angel and Madiba Passion may give him most to think about.
A competitive race in which CHESS PLAYER gets the vote ahead of the other last-time-out winners First Angel and Madiba Passion.

3.5/1(+22%) | (8) Grey Gray 3.5/1, Isn't progressing but posted another sound effort when second of 10 in maiden at Catterick (5f, good to firm, 11/4) 18 days ago. Another solid effort in defeat when second at Catterick but this may take more winning. |

2nd (2) (0.5/1 +78%) Magic Force |
0.5/1(+78%) | (2) Magic Force 0.5/1, Promising run when second of 12 in novice event at Salisbury (5f, good to firm) on debut 16 days ago, not knocked about once chance of winning had gone. Open to improvement. Kicked off over 5f at Salisbury and ran encouragingly behind an impressive winner. |

33/1(-32%) | (9) Villas Bullet 33/1, 40/1, seventh of 10 in novice event at this C&D (good to firm) 9 days ago, though had a tricky draw on that occasion. Either green or quirky in her first two runs but either way she looks one for nurseries. |

8th (3) (14/1 -100%) Zachary |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Zachary 14/1, Displayed plenty of zip when third of 4 in minor event at Musselburgh (5f, good) on debut 28 days ago. Should last longer this time. Raced freely before weakening into a remote third at Musselburgh. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MAGIC FORCE showed plenty of promise on debut last time at Salisbury as he kept on strongly to grab second, and he should have learned a great deal from that experience. With normal improvement, he could prove very tough to beat. The main threat is Invincible Tiger, who took a step forward to hit the frame at Hamilton last time, while any market support for Kitty Bennet would be interesting.
INVINCIBLE TIGER left her debut form well behind despite not racing on the ideal part of the track when third at Hamilton 12 days ago and, on that evidence, a maiden such as this is well within reach. Magic Force's opening effort was promising and he's the obvious threat unless there's confidence in newcomer Kitty Bennet.
Neither MAGIC FORCE nor Invincible Tiger are ideally drawn but they could still dominate given the promise both have shown.

12/1(-243%) | (12) Presenting Nelly 12/1, Related to a bumper winner and opened her account at the first time of asking in 7-runner event at Uttoxeter. 9th (6) (2/1 +43%) Shandancer |
2/1(+43%) | (6) Shandancer 2/1, Fair bumper performer in Ireland and he's reached a similar level over hurdles, producing best effort yet (on back of a wind op) when second at Fontwell (21.7f) last month. Runner-up again at Stratford 3 weeks ago and sure to be there in a change of headgear. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|PU| (2) (3.33/1 +52%) Genovese |
3.33/1(+52%) | (2) Genovese 3.33/1, Overcame inexperience to make a successful bumper debut at Worcester in September. Found it tougher under a penalty in a stronger race at Chepstow but got back on track in a first-time hood when third here in November. Unseated rider on hurdles debut over C&D on Tuesday. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SHANDANCER was only narrowly denied over 2m6f at Stratford last month, but he was badly hampered by a faller at the final flight on that occasion and the application of blinkers can induce further improvement into Amy Murphy's six-year-old. Faded Fantasy rates the selection's biggest threat following a fair second over an extended 2m at Bangor most recently, while his unexposed stablemate Jimmy Boum is another to consider.
FADED FANTASY could do with brushing his jumping up but this isn't a deep maiden, and with progress on the cards, he's the one to beat. Shandancer can remain competitive at this level, with Presenting Nelly one to monitor in the betting on return from 16 months off.
Last month's Bangor runner-up FADED FANTASY gets the vote on his step back up in trip. Shandancer is feared most.

3.5/1(-27%) | (2) Kentucky Bluegrass 3.5/1, Much improved when taking 9-runner minor event at Redcar (7f, good to soft) on return 39 days ago, just holding on. Likely more to come yet. Narrow Redcar winner; closely matched with Bobby's Blessing through one formline. |

8.5/1(+66%) | (4) Kiaraad 8.5/1, 13,000 gns foal, £20,000 yearling, Havana Grey gelding. Dam, maiden (stayed 6f), half-sister to useful 5f/6f winner Gordon Bennett. Market check advised on debut. Gelded ahead of debut and would need to see market confidence behind him. |

2.25/1(+10%) | (1) Bobby's Blessing 2.25/1, Got up close home to make a winning debut in Beverley maiden (7.4f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Entitled to build on that and holds solid claims. Bare form of Beverley win gives him strong claims and he did well to win that day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (1.25/1 +17%) Imperial Dream |
1.25/1(+17%) | (3) Imperial Dream 1.25/1, Promising individual who posted fair form in all 3 starts as a juvenile, ending campaign with good second of 12 in maiden (9/4) at Chelmsford City (7f) in September. In good hands and looks a likely improver this term. Gelded since last seen. Beaten in a modest race on final 2yo start but now gelded and open to improvement. |

5th (7) (22/1 -120%) Break The Spell |
22/1(-120%) | (7) Break The Spell 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Third of 5 in minor event at Brighton (8f, good to firm, 11/1) 20 days ago. Not out of things. Beaten in the region of 5l this season (7f/1m) and looks vulnerable. |

7th (5) (200/1 -203%) Centre Back |
200/1(-203%) | (5) Centre Back 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. 50/1, fifth of 6 in minor event at Lingfield (6f, AW) 11 days ago. Up in trip. Work to do. Beaten 16l (7f) and 10l (6f) in two runs; handicaps should see him in a better light. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Last-time-out victors Bobby's Blessing and Kentucky Bluegrass warrant plenty of respect, as they were both very gutsy winners and are likely to be hard to keep out of the finish, even with 7lb penalties to carry. However, IMPERIAL DREAM, who was last seen filling the runner-up spot at Chelmsford last September, makes more appeal and he has been gelded over the winter, which could eke out the required improvement.
Preference is for the returning IMPERIAL DREAM, who acquitted himself well in all 3 starts last season and remains open to improvement. Bobby's Blessing and Kentucky Bluegrass are also low mileage and warrant plenty of respect.
Bobby's Blessing looks the danger after doing well to win at Beverley but IMPERIAL DREAM surely has a lot more to offer.

1st (2) (9/1 -100%) Midnight Gold |
9/1(-100%) | (2) Midnight Gold 9/1, Winless following 8 attempts over hurdles but should put that right before long judged on latest Fontwell (21.8f, good to firm) second in first-time cheekpieces. Up 3 lb but player with Harry Cobden again aboard. Went close in first-time cheekpieces last month; big player if in similar form again. |

2nd (4) (4.5/1 -64%) Faerie Cutlass |
4.5/1(-64%) | (4) Faerie Cutlass 4.5/1, Clearly benefited from the fitting of a tongue strap and step up to 2½m when proving ¾-length too strong for Mrs Kinsella at Worcester (good) recently. It's likely to be close between them once more but, unlike the runner-up, this mare remains open to improvement. Finished well to open account at Worcester last month and has scope for further progress. |

3rd (7) (20/1 -25%) Bella Ciao |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Bella Ciao 20/1, Has failed to improve on what she showed in maiden/novice company switched to handicaps the last twice, and hopes now pinned on the addition of cheekpieces sparking improvement. Has undergone a wind op since latest start. Well beaten in first two handicaps; had wind op since; now sports cheekpieces. |

4th (3) (1.25/1 +58%) Malina Ocarina |
1.25/1(+58%) | (3) Malina Ocarina 1.25/1, Landed a gamble when notching third career success over this C&D (good) 19 days ago. 5 lb rise tolerable and slick-jumping will stand her in good stead, so she's a must for the shortlist with conditions again in her favour. Won in pretty good style over C&D last month and recent 5lb rise is not excessive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (6/1 +50%) Maria Magdalena |
6/1(+50%) | (1) Maria Magdalena 6/1, On a long losing run and while she was placed on several occasions last year, it's hard to draw too many positives from her effort at Market Rasen, even allowing for that fact that she was returning from a 6-month break. Made low-key reappearance last month but has slipped to a very tempting mark. |

|F| (8) (25/1 +0%) Blitz Spirit |
25/1(+0%) | (8) Blitz Spirit 25/1, Fair performer on the Flat in France but she has yet to make a meaningful impact in this sphere, for all that she has a couple of half-decent efforts to her name. Has undergone a wind op and now tried in blinkers and a tongue strap. 0-6 over hurdles; off since heavy defeat in November; had wind op in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (4.5/1 -35%) Mrs Kinsella |
4.5/1(-35%) | (5) Mrs Kinsella 4.5/1, Another maiden who should get her head in front at some point soon judged on her recent effort at Worcester where she was collared close home by the re-opposing Faerie Cutlass. That said, she will do well to reverse the placings with Kim Bailey's unexposed representative. Ran big race before succumbing to Faerie Cutlass in closing stages at Worcester last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 -230%) Shee's A Stella |
66/1(-230%) | (6) Shee's A Stella 66/1, Very little to shout about in a trio of runs over hurdles for Debra Hamer and transformation needed now going handicapping for new yard. Well beaten in three novice hurdles for Debra Hamer; makes stable/handicap debut here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Supporters of Midnight Gold will be pleased to see Harry Cobden keeps the ride, especially given the pair only just lost out over an extended 2m5f at Fontwell most recently. However, the daughter of Fame And Glory shaped as though she could need a stiffer stamina test on that occasion, so MALINA OCARINA rates the one to beat. She can defy a 5lb raised mark following a five-length success over C&D last month and is taken to get the better of Faerie Cutlass, who has gone up 3lb following a staying-on success at Worcester.
FAERIE CUTLASS left her previous efforts well behind upped to this trip in a first-time tongue strap at Worcester where she reeled Mrs Kinsella in close home. A 3 lb rise for that looks very fair indeed and, with the strong possibility of better to come, she is taken to get the better of the latter once again. Recent C&D scorer Malina Ocarina and Midnight Gold, who arguably posted her best effort yet at Fontwell last time, are others with claims.
She made a low-key reappearance last month but MARIA MAGDALENA is now very well handicapped and might be the answer.

5th (6) (2.25/1 +25%) Spirit Warning |
2.25/1(+25%) | (6) Spirit Warning 2.25/1, Hasn't made it to the track too often since joining current yard but shaped well, after 12 months off, when fourth in 7f handicap at Brighton 20 days ago, nearest finish. Player if backing that up. Well-in on old form; encouraging run in the blinkers at Brighton most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (3.5/1 -75%) King Of Speed |
3.5/1(-75%) | (2) King Of Speed 3.5/1, Back from 4 months off when taking 7-runner handicap at Leicester (6f, heavy) 30 days ago. 3 lb rise fair and will be dangerous if proving as effective over this longer trip. Better for cheekpieces the last twice and effectively off same mark as for recent win. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Major Gatsby is interesting having won four times over this trip, the latest a year ago off 1lb higher at Brighton. He is weighted to go close, but if KING OF SPEED takes to the distance he may be the one. Running on well to win at Leicester over six furlongs last month, although upped 3lb by the handicapper his jockey negates that rise in the saddle. Spirit Warning may prove best of the rest.
SPIRIT WARNING is entitled to build on his encouraging recent return at Brighton and gets the nod in a tricky-looking contest. King of Speed may provide the chief threat.
The 7yo SPIRIT WARNING is worth chancing as he's well-in on his old form and the blinkers had a positive effect at Brighton.

9/1(+82%) | (3) Hope Des Blins 9/1, Fair hurdler. Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 14/1, fourth of 5 in novice chase at Tramore (15.4f, good) 9 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Outclassed by Mullins-trained odds-on chance at Tramore and similar outcome very likely. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This looks a match between the two JP McManus representatives, HERCULE DU SEUIL and Roseys Hollow. While he has to give weight away to his three rivals, the Willie Mullins-trained former should prove up to the task. A Grade 2-winning hurdler, he was disappointingly beaten into second on his debut over fences at Ballinrobe early last month. He returned to the Mayo venue and made amends on his next start, impressively making all despite some slight mistakes. Mullins now looks to have found an ideal opportunity for the French bred six-year-old to follow up. With Aidan Kelly's claim included, Roseys Hollow will carry a total of 19lb less than the selection. A smart performer over flights, she has been a bit disappointing since switching to the larger obstacles and may prove more effective in handicap company. Lieutenant Highway was over 20 lengths behind the selection at Ballinrobe but with a swing in the weights, he should get a bit closer now.
It's hard to look beyond HERCULE DU SEUIL, who went one better than on his chase debut when scoring in good style at Ballinrobe a fortnight ago. A dual winner of graded race over hurdles, he remains open to improvement in this sphere. Roseys Hollow gets the nod for forecast purposes ahead of Lieutenant Highway, who didn't shape badly when fourth in the Ballinrobe maiden chase won by Hercule Du Seuil on his first start over the larger obstacles.
Hard to oppose the front-running \HERCULE DU SEUIL\p after his easy win in a good-class beginners' chase at Ballinrobe

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
NADIM found only the progressive Pak Army too strong on his handicap debut at Stratford last Saturday and Milton Harris' four-year-old rates as the one to beat off only 3lb higher. Riggsby looks to be on a fair opening mark on his first foray into this sphere and he can't be taken lightly having undergone a wind operation since placing third at Wetherby in March. Last month's C&D runner-up Ez Tiger completes the shortlist.
Preference is for NADIM, who was clear of the rest when runner-up on handicap debut at Stratford earlier this month and remains low mileage. Riggsby and Ez Tiger rate the principal dangers.
The suggestion is NADIM (nap), who ran on well for a clear second behind a thriving rival on his recent handicap debut.

1st (3) (6.5/1 -44%) Magical Merlin |
6.5/1(-44%) | (3) Magical Merlin 6.5/1, Windsor novice winner last summer. Went backwards from reappearance fourth of 5 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 28 days ago, though may have been unsuited by step up in trip. Better expected back over 6f. Won a Windsor novice last August but has not made an impact in three handicaps since. |

2nd (2) (2.75/1 +0%) Hover On The Wind |
2.75/1(+0%) | (2) Hover On The Wind 2.75/1, First run since leaving Chris Dwyer when creditable third of 9 in handicap (10/3) at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) 23 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time and he's not yet exposed (from a good family). Has solid record so far and was placed on his handicap/stable debut last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/1 -22%) Get Off Me |
11/1(-22%) | (4) Get Off Me 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 12/1, good fourth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 11 days ago, not clear run and not given a hard time. 6f could be his ideal distance but more needed in this company. Promising fourth on handicap debut here (AW) latest and could be dangerous back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (0.67/1 +26%) Mojeyrr |
0.67/1(+26%) | (1) Mojeyrr 0.67/1, Promising individual. Confirmed debut promise when landing the odds in 9-runner maiden at Southwell (6.1f) 59 days ago, comfortably. Makes handicap debut and mark could be lenient with promise of lots more to come. Landed the odds at Southwell latest and he's open to more progress on his handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MOJEYRR looks an interesting sort having come home third on his Kempton debut before following that with a comfortable win at odds-on at Southwell. He has his first start on grass here after a gelding operation, and may well improve for the change of surface. Hover On The Wind could prove a huge danger if first-time cheekpieces have the desired effect, while Magical Merlin represents an in-form yard and he also makes some appeal.
MOJEYRR confirmed his debut promise in no uncertain terms when landing the odds at Southwell in April and, representing an excellent yard, his opening mark may well underestimate him. Hover On The Wind's limit hasn't been reached, either, and he can offer most resistance.
This can go to the well-related MOJEYRR, who landed the odds at Southwell last time and is open to more progress on his handicap debut.

1st (7) (9/1 -20%) Therehegoes |
9/1(-20%) | (7) Therehegoes 9/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in March. 10/1, below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Chepstow (5.1f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Enters calculations. Won a weak race on AW in March; in and out since and others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/1 +31%) Level Up |
11/1(+31%) | (1) Level Up 11/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in April. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Chepstow (5.1f, good to firm, 20/1) 10 days ago. Others preferred. Two AW wins this year; not so good on turf since but this is easier; solid contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (5/1 +17%) Bungle Bay |
5/1(+17%) | (8) Bungle Bay 5/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in January. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 13/2) 41 days ago. Couldn't rule out. On a handy mark but 5f on fast ground might present an inadequate test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (8.5/1 +29%) Sparked |
8.5/1(+29%) | (6) Sparked 8.5/1, Last of 6 in handicap (12/1) at Lingfield (5f, AW) 6 days ago and, chances are, she will again be found wanting. Went close on AW in April but that run sandwiched by lesser efforts; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (1.8/1 +67%) La Roca Del Fuego |
1.8/1(+67%) | (3) La Roca Del Fuego 1.8/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Chelmsford in December. Sixth of 7 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 14/1) 21 days ago. Chance if rediscovering old form. C&D winner; on a good mark and he's one to consider on this drop in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (2.25/1 -13%) My Genghis |
2.25/1(-13%) | (4) My Genghis 2.25/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in January. 9/4, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 25 days ago. One of the more likely candidates. Placed in three turf handicaps last month; well drawn and should remain competitive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
My Genghis was only denied by a length and a half over 6f last time and he is likely to be thereabouts once more off 2lb higher, but a chance can be taken on REGAL ENVOY. He can be forgiven his most recent display and, if he can reproduce his penultimate effort when fourth at Newmarket, the four-year-old ought to go very well. Therehegoes isn't ruled out either.
MY GENGHIS looks the most solid option having performed with credit on each of his 3 starts on turf since returning from a break, including over this C&D last month. He is likely to appreciate returning to this trip after finishing third over 6f at Salisbury last time. Therehegoes was below par on his first outing on turf for over a year at Chepstow recently but will be a threat if on-song, while Regal Envoy could have a part to play if bouncing back from a low-key effort here 2 weeks ago.
Regal Envoy is a big danger back at 5f but LEVEL UP has had excuses since returned to turf and can gain a first win on the grass.

2nd (2) (20/1 -43%) Foxy Jacks |
20/1(-43%) | (2) Foxy Jacks 20/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Unseated rider 20th in minor event chase at Cheltenham (30.2f, good to soft, 40/1) 89 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Early-season form brings him into it and dangerous to dismiss after a break. |

3rd (9) (3.2/1 +29%) The Abbey |
3.2/1(+29%) | (9) The Abbey 3.2/1, 7/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap chase at Limerick (25.5f, good to soft) 18 days ago, hard held. On the upgrade recently so rates a big player in his hat-trick bid. Has won his last two comfortably; up 11lb for last time but something has clicked. |

4th (7) (11/1 +45%) Snugsborough Hall |
11/1(+45%) | (7) Snugsborough Hall 11/1, Twelfth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (22.4f, good, 14/1). Off 9 months. Switches from hurdles to chase. Eleven runs since last win in 2021. Won a recent point and was only beaten 2l in this 12 months ago off 5lb higher. |

5th (4) (8.5/1 -6%) Champagne Gold |
8.5/1(-6%) | (4) Champagne Gold 8.5/1, Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap chase (16/1) at Punchestown (24f, good to soft) 44 days ago. Can give a good account. This represents a welcome drop in class from the Cheltenham and Punchestown festivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (6/1 +57%) Good As Hell |
6/1(+57%) | (11) Good As Hell 6/1, Latest win in chase at Tipperary in May. Good third of 12 in handicap hurdle (11/2) at Wexford (20f, good to soft) 23 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Up in trip. Possibilities. Placed over hurdles last time and she's better over fences; good bet to give her running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (11/1 -69%) Go Another One |
11/1(-69%) | (3) Go Another One 11/1, Career best when winning 5-runner handicap chase (5/1) at Cartmel (25.5f, good) 16 days ago. Enters calculations. Won at Cartmel latest but only beat four rivals and seems happiest in small fields. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (7.5/1 -25%) Hurricane Georgie |
7.5/1(-25%) | (1) Hurricane Georgie 7.5/1, Three wins from 9 runs last season. 5/2, second of 4 in minor event chase at Limerick (19.7f, good to soft) 18 days ago, barely adequate test. Back up in trip and in the mix for a stable having good spell. Won the Midlands National at Kilbeggan last summer; ran well over too short a trip latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (16/1 +36%) Walking On Glass |
16/1(+36%) | (6) Walking On Glass 16/1, Below form eighth of 15 in handicap chase (25/1) at Ballinrobe (23f, good) 14 days ago. Others appeal more. Failed to shine on return to fences at Ballinrobe two weeks ago, albeit in a strong race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (40/1 -233%) Pairc Na Ngael |
40/1(-233%) | (8) Pairc Na Ngael 40/1, Two wins from 4 runs last season. 22/1, twelfth of 13 in handicap chase at Kilbeggan (19.1f, good to soft) 31 days ago. Back up in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive. Has to bounce back from a quiet reappearance at Kilbeggan when never at the races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (14/1 -17%) Popong |
14/1(-17%) | (5) Popong 14/1, Tenth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (20f, good, 16/1) 28 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Back up in trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter. Below form over hurdles the last twice but she was runner-up in this 12 months ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Sharing the same name as the local hotel, THE ABBEY would be a popular winner of this feature contest. The 10-year-old has shown remarkable improvement in recent starts, winning easily at Downpatrick and Limerick respectively. Despite a 20lb rise, the Yeats gelding still looks well treated on a mark of 117 and with Danny Gilligan again on board, he looks the one to beat. Gordon Elliott trains the selection and is also represented by top-weight Hurricane Georgie. She won the Midlands National at Kilbeggan last season and can make an impact here. Henry de Bromhead is also double handed, with Champagne Gold and Popong his representatives. The latter, who filled the runner-up spot 12 months ago, is given second preference, fitted with cheekpieces for the first time. Stealthy Tom has won three of his last five and is a leading contender with Mark McDonagh aboard, while Snugsborough Hall (third last year) and 14-time winner Go Another One are others that warrant respect.
THE ABBEY arrives on the up and still looks weighted to complete a hat-trick despite being hiked up 11 lb for his most recent Limerick success. Go Another One is feared most on the back of his Cartmel victory, with veteran Pakens Rock another to consider now he is back on track.
The 8yo CHAMPAGNE GOLD can find this easier than contesting competitive handicaps at the Cheltenham/Punchestown festivals.

1st (4) (4.5/1 -35%) Blue Sans |
4.5/1(-35%) | (4) Blue Sans 4.5/1, Fit from a point run, could only manage 13 lengths fourth back over hurdles at Worcester (2½m) last month but she is dangerously well handicapped if staging a revival for a yard in very good form. Headgear left off. Well treated on her old form and has had a near-miss at 2m7f in the past; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (6.5/1 +7%) The Longest Day |
6.5/1(+7%) | (9) The Longest Day 6.5/1, Poor maiden but has been placed twice in handicaps around 3m since returning from a long absence this spring. 4 lb out of the handicap this time. Placed in the last two of his three runs after long absence; 4lb out of the weights here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (1.5/1 +50%) Having A Barney |
1.5/1(+50%) | (7) Having A Barney 1.5/1, On the up since sent handicapping, including a 20.5f Ayr win in March. Creditable third over 20.5f here latest, sticking on again after getting hampered. Much respected now stepping back up in trip. Stayed on well when third here (2m4f) last time and he looks interesting back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (14/1 +65%) Robeam |
14/1(+65%) | (8) Robeam 14/1, Largely struggled since finishing third in a C&D handicap off 8 lb higher last September and it's likely best to look elsewhere again. Wears a hood for the first time over jumps. Losing run is up to 17 and he's generally struggled under both codes this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8.5/1 -6%) Barely Famous |
8.5/1(-6%) | (5) Barely Famous 8.5/1, Landed back-to-back handicaps (first one over C&D) for Ryan Potter last autumn. Also a good second at Huntingdon in October and he shaped better than the result on his recent return to action for new trainer Matt Sheppard. Likely to be sharper with that run behind him. Considered. C&D winner last autumn but she made a low-key start for new yard last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (25/1 -108%) De Grey Mink |
25/1(-108%) | (6) De Grey Mink 25/1, Modest form at best, pulling up on yard debut a year ago. Off since. Tongue tied first time. Best to look elsewhere unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Pulled up in both his runs last year and has a lot to prove after another lengthy absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (40/1 -300%) Here We Have It |
40/1(-300%) | (1) Here We Have It 40/1, Overcame poor position to win a 2m handicap chase here in December but has struggled for form since, including remote fourth over fences here (2m again) last month. Remains to be seen whether a return to hurdles and a significant step back up in trip helps to spark a revival. Has been disappointing over fences this year and has plenty to prove back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (7/1 -8%) Supreme Yeats |
7/1(-8%) | (2) Supreme Yeats 7/1, Cosy winner of 20.5f course handicap in November. Not at that level since but his Market Rasen third over an inadequate 2m was better and he's dropped back to that successful mark. No surprise if he goes well. Won over 2m4f here last November but he's not matched that form since; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (11/1 -38%) Roscoe Tara |
11/1(-38%) | (3) Roscoe Tara 11/1, Reached the frame in a couple of maiden hurdles in 2020/21 season. Better effort in handicaps since returning from a long absence when 11 lengths fourth at Ffos Las (2½m) 34 days ago. Longer trip now might help. Seven-race maiden but has shaped as though the step up to 3m could suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BLUE SANS was unable to justify strong support on his stable debut at Worcester last month, nevertheless, the Fergal O'Brien-trained mare may travel more kindly now up in distance and it's too soon to be writing her off. Having A Barney arrives in better form than most and must enter calculations, while Roscoe Tara is another who could improve for this stiffer test and can't be discounted either.
The suggestion is HAVING A BARNEY, who was a bit better than the result when third over shorter here last time and is unexposed at this trip. Blue Sans was only fourth at Worcester recently but is well treated on her best efforts and is feared most ahead of Supreme Yeats, who won off an identical mark here last year.
This looks trappy but HAVING A BARNEY gets the vote ahead of Roscoe Tara and Blue Sans.

Seventh of 12 in maiden at Thirsk (5f, good, 5/1) on debut 23 days ago, not knocked about. Up in trip. Should have more to offer. Shaped with some promise at Thirsk and she looks a likely improver on this step up in trip. |

11th (11) (3.33/1 -21%) South Kensington |
3.33/1(-21%) | (11) South Kensington 3.33/1, 85,000 gns yearling, Blue Point filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Dark of Night. Dam, 7f winner who stayed 1¼m, half-sister to useful 2-y-o 6f/7f winner Alsindi. Fifth of 10 in minor event (4/1) at Newmarket (6f, good) on debut 23 days ago. Sure to improve. Showed clear promise when fifth at Newmarket and has claims if she can build on that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PAINITE filled the runner-up spot on debut and she was three lengths clear of the third that day, which was a hugely promising start to her career. With the likelihood of much more to come, she can put that experience to good use. Lincoln Legacy scored at Kempton on her first start and has to be respected, while any market support for Key To Cotai would be of interest.
PAINITE made a promising start at Nottingham and could be hard to beat if improving as expected over this longer trip. There could be plenty more to come from South Kensington also after her Newmarket run and she's the danger ahead of Kempton-winner Lincoln Legacy. Looby and Pink Satin are a couple of interesting newcomers.
Richard Hannon's PAINITE rallied well to go close at Nottingham on her recent debut and gets the vote on this step up in trip.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Denis Hogan has his string in fine form at present and the Co Tipperary trainer is double handed here, saddling both AKAABIR and General Idea. A Godolphin cast-off, the former ran a nice race on debut over flights at Listowel last week and finished just two and a half lengths behind the 121-rated Morning Soldier. The Dark Angel gelding should come on plenty for that experience and can be expected to go a lot closer now. In truth, this is a weak contest and newcomer Drombana Boy won't have to be anything out of the ordinary to get involved. By Walk In The Park, the Enda Bolger-trained bay is out of a half-sister to the brilliant Synchronised, winner of the 2012 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Gordon Elliott's Knocknacree is out of three-time track winner Layla Joan, who Elliott also trained. Second of seven on his most recent start at Perth, it'll come as no surprise if he manages to go a place better now. Twice placed last year, Mr Globalist is another leading contender on his debut for Shay Slevin, while Mercury Mission and Boots And Jeans are others who warrant respect.
A thin maiden hurdle that can see Gordon Elliott enjoy yet another winner, courtesy of KNOCKNACREE, who ran well at Perth. Blenheim Belle and Boots And Jeans are put up for the places.
Perth second Knocknacree might want further; so too might AKAABIR but it was a promising start over hurdles from him at Listowel

1st (6) (2.75/1 +8%) Indian Sounds |
2.75/1(+8%) | (6) Indian Sounds 2.75/1, Not an obvious one having had 26 runs since his last win in 2020 but his stable has an excellent record in this race (has won last 4 runnings). Remains favourably treated on lots of form; trainer has great record in this race. |

2nd (5) (16/1 -60%) Blazing Hot |
16/1(-60%) | (5) Blazing Hot 16/1, Latest win at Southwell in December. Off 4 months, first run since leaving David Brown when fifth of 7 in handicap at Catterick (5f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Should be sharper for the outing. All wins on AW; close third over C&D last term but 7lb higher now; 0-17 on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3.5/1 -27%) Soul Seeker |
3.5/1(-27%) | (1) Soul Seeker 3.5/1, C&D winner. 4/1, creditable second of 6 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 5 days ago. Likely to be thereabouts. Remains on a workable mark and the return to Pontefract looks a plus (2-3 here); respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3.5/1 +0%) Jarvis |
3.5/1(+0%) | (2) Jarvis 3.5/1, Dual 5f winner for Ger Lyons. Didn't hit the ground running for this yard last autumn but better signs after a break when fifth of 10 at Newcastle (5f) last month, showing good speed. Entitled to be sharper for run and he's well treated on peak form. Clear signs of a return to form at Newcastle on seasonal debut (fourth run for new yard). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3.2/1 +29%) Cottam Lane |
3.2/1(+29%) | (4) Cottam Lane 3.2/1, Course winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Ninth of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good, 25/1) on reappearance 7 days ago. Needs to have come on a fair bit in a short time. Defied an 8lb higher mark here in 2021 for previous stable; not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (8/1 +11%) Bert Kibbler |
8/1(+11%) | (3) Bert Kibbler 8/1, Latest win at Southwell in March. Best not judged on latest last of 5 at Nottingham as he reared badly leaving the stalls. Cheekpieces on first time. Not solid but has a fighting chance if he takes well to first-time headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A relatively small field in which BERT KIBBLER can take advantage of a drop in class from his most recent outing. He was second off a 2lb lower mark at Ayr on his third-last outing and is fancied to get the better of Jarvis, who reverts to turf following a fair fifth at Newcastle last month. Recent Ripon runner-up Soul Seeker is also respected.
There were quite encouraging signs from the well-handicapped JARVIS on his AW reappearance 5 weeks ago and he's given a chance to build on that. Indian Sounds is on a long losing run but the Paul Midgley stable does very well in this race so he's feared most ahead of last week's Ripon second Soul Seeker.
The runner with the most positives is SOUL SEEKER. Second choice is Indian Sounds.

300/1(-200%) | (1) Young Bertie 300/1, Intrinsic gelding. Dam, 9.5f/1¼m winner, closely related to smart 9.5f-1½m winner Young Mick. Market can guide on his belated debut. First foal of a minor 1m2f winner; best watched on belated debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Shadow Dance failed to justify favouritism last time at Chester as he could only manage third, but that wasn't a bad effort and he still merits consideration. However, the vote goes to SYLLABUS, who stayed on to finish fifth on only his second start. He should have more to come and he can go in for powerful connections. Love Song should be monitored in the betting on her racecourse bow.
SHADOW DANCE holds the edge on form and with more progress in the pipelines Roger Varian's Almanzor colt is taken to edge out Syllabus, who also has better days ahead of him and rates a major threat. Newcomer Love Song and Chepstow-fourth Miller Spirit can fight it out for minor honours.
Miller Spirit is still capable of much better but SYLLABUS might find this easier than the Newmarket races he's contested so far.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Fresh from a double at Bangor on Saturday, 'Shark' Hanlon might be able to strike here with GRIZABELLA. A winner on the level last summer, she ran a fine race to finish fourth on just her second start in handicap company at Wexford and she is fitted with a hood for the first time now. Trying to second guess Charles Byrnes is a futile exercise and so it's difficult to know what to expect from Redwood Queen. She stayed on strongly to finish third under tender handling on debut for the highly controversial Limerick handler at Punchestown last month. Macs Lady also ran a cracker on debut for a new outfit at Limerick. Now in the care of Shane Ryder, she ultimately couldn't hold off the progressive Bal Kauto, and had to settle for second after attempting to make all. Taylor Three Rock successfully made every inch of the running at Listowel recently and she is sure to have plenty of supporters, while others for the shortlist in this competitive affair are Up And Out, Skip Mahler and Atlantic Wonder.
This looks a hot race for the grade with several potential improvers. None more so than REDWOOD QUEEN, who caught the eye in no uncertain terms at Punchestown 3 weeks ago. Grizabella should have more to offer as a hurdler given her Flat ability, with Atlantic Wonder completing the shortlist.
Punchestown eyecatcher Redwood Queen may well be overbet and ATLANTIC WONDER has been shaping like he has one of these in him

Should progress, not least when upped in trip. Eyecatching sixth at Ripon; open to improvement. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Nariko makes plenty of appeal and Kevin Ryan's 600,000gns purchase would be dangerous to dismiss, especially as she is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Rumble Inthejungle and Group 2-placed Great Prospector. However, racecourse experience could seal the deal for NEVERSTOPDREAMING, who finished fourth in deeper waters at Goodwood last month. Soveraine is a half-sister to the German Group 3 winner K Club and also merits respect.
NARIKO was one of the top lots at the Craven Breeze-Ups, fetching a whopping 600,000 guineas, and it would be no surprise to see her make a winning start. The betting will be informative, of course, with Helga Brandt and Soveraine a couple more interesting local newcomers. €220,000 yearling Neverstopdreaming made a promising start at Goodwood and should improve.
The vote goes to very interesting newcomer NARIKO. Second choice is Neverstopdreaming.

3.5/1(+0%) | (2) Apolo 3.5/1, Promising Kingman colt who shaped well when fourth of 7 in minor event (9/2) at this C&D (heavy) on debut 56 days ago, not knocked about. Open to a fair bit of progress. Well-bred colt; green when 4th over C&D on debut 8 weeks ago; capable of much better. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Bolster has winning form after scoring at Leicester on his only start as a two-year-old, but that means he has to give 7lb or more to his rivals. Queen Emma looked as if the experience would do her the world of good when sixth at Newbury in April and she could surprise a few, but APOLO might be the one to beat. Fourth and less than three lengths off the winner over this C&D on debut, nominal improvement could see victory here.
The market should prove revealing but BOLSTER looked a good prospect when making a winning debut at Leicester last autumn and is fancied to make a successful return at the chief expense of promising Kingman colt Apolo, who seems sure to build on his debut C&D fourth. Sir Raj also has the form to play a big part and newcomer Lock The Vault can't be dismissed either.
Sir Raj should go well again but BOLSTER looked a good prospect when winning at Leicester on debut and he can defy a penalty.

10th (8) (33/1 +18%) Lodge Prince |
33/1(+18%) | (8) Lodge Prince 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 80/1, last of 13 in novice hurdle at Tramore (16f, good to soft). Off 14 months. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Some promise in one of his maiden hurdles but comes here after some poor runs in points. |

25/1(+24%) | (16) Destivelle 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 13 in juvenile hurdle at Tipperary (16f, good, 125/1) 25 days ago. Improvement required on handicap hurdle debut. Of limited account on the Flat and has cut no ice in three maiden hurdles. |

125/1(-56%) | (13) Courthill 125/1, 100/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (22.1f, good) 13 days ago, tailing off 2 out. Back down in trip. Hard to fancy. Basement mark is entirely warranted judged on his form to date. |

|PU| (3) (10/1 -11%) Farceur De Sivola |
10/1(-11%) | (3) Farceur De Sivola 10/1, 16/1, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (16f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Not out of things. Ran respectably behind a runaway winner at Kilbeggan last week. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EDGE OF MY SEAT made the frame a couple of times on the Flat last year and has twice run well over hurdles at this venue. Keen when sixth at Tipperary last month, the fitting of a hood may help her to settle and an in-form claimer rides. Runner-up at Naas and third at Wexford, Only One Plan is handicapped to win one of these and is likely to contend again. Be My Hero ran his best race so far when second at Wexford and hasn't been with Gordon Elliott all that long so may be capable of further improvement. A winner over 1m4f at Dundalk last year, The Virginian shaped well after a lay-off when fifth at Punchestown and represents a yard which enjoyed a double on Saturday.
PRESENTING LAD won this contest last season and signalled a return to form at Punchestown last time. He gets the nod. Be My Hero and Only One Plan head the list of dangers.
None of these are overly convincing but BE MY HERO hasn't been with Gordon Elliott all that long and seems to be finding his level.

3.5/1(-5%) | (7) C'mon Kenny 3.5/1, Creditable third of 7 in handicap at Haydock (11.8f, good to firm, 3/1) 16 days ago, finishing with running left. Every inch a leading contender off the same mark. Close third at Haydock last month; not dismissed off same mark. |

2nd (2) (1.88/1 +44%) La Pulga |
1.88/1(+44%) | (2) La Pulga 1.88/1, One win from 3 runs this year. 15/8, career best when winning 4-runner handicap at Hamilton (13.1f, good to firm) 4 days ago, pushed out. Merits respect but will need to raise his game again in order to defy a penalty in this more competitive race. Made all for ready success at Hamilton on Thursday; good chance under 5lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 -7%) Matchless |
8/1(-7%) | (1) Matchless 8/1, 7/4, creditable second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (16.2f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Useful on the Flat (winner of latest start in this sphere at Doncaster early last month) but this is tougher up 4 lb. Made all at Doncaster on sole Flat run for this yard; likely player. |

7/1(+0%) | (6) Carrigillihy 7/1, Three-time C&D winner, including when posting a career best in an 8-runner handicap (good) 17 days ago, just holding on. Should give it a good shot but more needed up 3 lb in this higher grade. C&D scorer last month, taking Pontefract record to 4-4; commands major respect. |

6th (4) (7.5/1 +58%) Knight Of Honour |
7.5/1(+58%) | (4) Knight Of Honour 7.5/1, Winner at Sakhir in January. Ninth of 10 in handicap at Chester (12.3f, good, 25/1) 16 days ago, very slowly away. On a good mark judged on peak form but several of these are more appealing judged on recent exploits. Won at Bahrain in January; inconsistent since. |

7th (5) (5.5/1 -38%) Real Terms |
5.5/1(-38%) | (5) Real Terms 5.5/1, Respectable fifth of 18 in handicap (12/1) at York (11.8f, good to firm) 26 days ago, faring best of those held up. Very much one to consider on the back of that eye-catching effort. Not disgraced in a couple of competitive races this term, despite traffic issues. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (66/1 +0%) Hezmie |
66/1(+0%) | (9) Hezmie 66/1, Last of 8 in handicap (14/1) at Doncaster (14.5f, good to firm) 9 days ago. 3 lb 'wrong' at the weights and likely to come up short once again. Far from consistent since her debut win; opposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
MATCHLESS was second over hurdles when last seen and that followed a success on the level over this distance at Doncaster. He is rated 4lb higher for that victory but that looks unlikely to stop him on his return to this sphere. La Pulga has to shoulder a 5lb penalty following a facile win at Hamilton last Thursday and is feared most, while Zealandia has dropped to 1lb above his last winning mark, which came over this trip at York last June.
Having caught the eye in a big-field York handicap last month, REAL TERMS could be the answer to this competitive contest. She did well to finish as close as she did on the Knavesmire, all things considered, and remains just 1 lb above her last winning mark. C'Mon Kenny also left the strong impression that his turn is near when a closing third recently at Haydock and he is second choice ahead of stablemate Zealandia and Matchless.
With the form of his latest success given a boost on Friday, CARRIGILLIHY (nap) could well add to his course tally.

Poorly drawn on that occasion up in class and he's back in his grade here. Excuses in both runs this year; return to handicap company can help; major player. |

2nd (9) (5.5/1 +50%) Isle Of Lismore |
5.5/1(+50%) | (9) Isle Of Lismore 5.5/1, C&D winner. 13/2, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (5f, good) 23 days ago. Heading firmly back in the right direction this term. Effective over C&D and ran well last time; shouldn't be too far away. |

Cheekpieces back on and he's well weighted when he does find his form again. On a dangerous mark and likely to come good soon; this looks quite competitive though. |

7th (2) (12/1 +25%) Mountain Peak |
12/1(+25%) | (2) Mountain Peak 12/1, Eighteenth of 20 in handicap at Epsom (5f, good to firm, 25/1) 9 days ago, on the retreat when hampered. This is slightly easier and assessor cutting him some slack. Well treated on last summer's form but he's yet to find his feet this season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
DREAM COMPOSER was an unlucky loser when trying to land a hat-trick at Goodwood last month, after missing the start and then being denied a clear run before coming home an admirable third. A smooth passage here could see him back to winning ways, though if anything does go wrong for the five-year-old, the Haydock winner Swayze and Bedford Flyer will be ready to pounce and take full advantage.
SWAYZE turned a Haydock handicap into a one-sided affair 18 days ago, and with that performance backed up by a healthy timefigure, he may well be able to shrug off a 7 lb rise. This is a good-quality contest though, with Dream Composer and Bedford Flyer a couple of potential threats.
There have been excuses for EQUALITY's two defeats this season and this classy operator can defy top weight on his return to handicaps.

3.33/1(+39%) | (5) Jay Jay Zee 3.33/1, 6/1, won 12-runner maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe (17.4f, soft) on debut 59 days ago, driven out. Longer trip will suit. Likely improver for a leading stable in good form. Workmanlike in making a winning debut at Ballinrobe; tackling classier opposition here. |

4th (4) (2.25/1 +32%) Camino Rock |
2.25/1(+32%) | (4) Camino Rock 2.25/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Remains a maiden after 7 hurdle runs. Good third of 25 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (19.8f, good to soft, 20/1) 47 days ago, sticking to task. Unlikely to be far away. Nothing wrong with his third in a deep 2m4f handicap at the Punchestown festival. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CAMINO ROCK was third of 25 in a competitive handicap over this trip at the Punchestown festival. He's the only maiden in the field but a reproduction of that latest run will see him take a bit of beating. Pink In The Park was Grade 1-placed at Fairyhouse in April but, nonetheless, the handicapper is happy to place her on a mark of 121. Not fluent when landing a Cork maiden last time, she still has room for improvement in her jumping but good ground suits and she may build on that victory during the summer. Late developer Lucid Dreams only began racing this year and readily won a Ballinrobe maiden last month. The eight-year-old is capable of further progress over this longer trip.
The step up in trip should suit Gordon Elliott's Ballinrobe debut scorer JAY JAY ZEE who can make the most of the weight he receives from Pink In The Park in a tight rated novice.
The suggestion is the unexposed LUCID DREAMS, who clocked a decent time when winning at Ballinrobe. Pink In The Park is next best.

3/1(+0%) | (2) Flint Hill 3/1, C&D winner. Didn't need to improve to win 7-runner handicap at Catterick (15.9f, good, 5/1) 28 days ago, well positioned. Likely to give it another good go from just 1 lb higher. Triple course winner who bounced back with a brave win at Catterick last time; respected. |

4th (3) (1.62/1 -35%) Giovanni Change |
1.62/1(-35%) | (3) Giovanni Change 1.62/1, Better known as a fairly useful hurdler, career best when winning 9-runner handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f) 31 days ago. Flat winner over 21.6f here prior to that and he's clearly thriving. Won here (2m5f) on return in April and followed up over hurdles latest; big player again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GIOVANNI CHANGE has been in winning form under both codes since returning from a 136-day break here in April and a 4lb rise for his latest success on the Flat shouldn't hinder his chances. Flint Hill has only been nudged up 1lb for his triumph at Catterick last month and is next best, ahead of Yorkindness, who is capable of picking up a race of this nature if on a going day.
GIOVANNI CHANGE is thriving in both codes, and with this revised mark more than fair, he can complete the hat-trick. Flint Hill has plenty of form at Pontefract and he's a big threat, with Easy Equation also feared back on turf.
The tough 8yo GIOVANNI CHANGE has won on the Flat and over hurdles in his last two runs and is a big player again in his hat-trick bid.

6th (4) (3.33/1 +45%) My Turn Now |
3.33/1(+45%) | (4) My Turn Now 3.33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Good fourth of 9 in handicap at Leicester (6f, good, 17/2) 13 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Close fourth on handicap debut at Leicester and she looks interesting on this drop to 5f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Unlimited Data won over this trip in December and again on his return, both on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, and he can go well off 6lb higher, though he may be outgunned by PREMIERE BEAUTY. Ninth in Listed class in October, she ran well on her return when third at Haydock, despite being forced off a straight line, and with any improvement she could prove hard to beat, with My Turn Now the pick for third place.
This can go to PREMIERE BEAUTY, who is entitled to build on last month's encouraging Haydock reappearance and remains low mileage. Unlimited Data and Raven's Up can also make their presence felt.
An open race in which Clive Cox's unexposed filly MY TURN NOW gets the vote on her drop to 5f.

Can make her presence felt, provided she's ready to roll. Beat a talented mare in Ballinrobe maiden but well beaten in subsequent handicaps. |

Up in trip now handicapping and he's open to improvement. Off the mark on second start over hurdles in ordinary Fairyhouse maiden (2m, yielding). |

6.5/1(+19%) | (4) Bravo Team 6.5/1, Unseated rider in handicap hurdle (10/1) at Down Royal (20.4f, good) 10 days ago. Booking of Gilligan a plus but he's on a tough-looking mark. Won off 113 on h'cap debut at Down Royal last year (2m4f, good) and effectively same mark. |

|PU| (8) (40/1 +20%) Quantatmental |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Quantatmental 40/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2019. 33/1, below form seventh of 13 in handicap chase at Limerick (17.7f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Readily passed over. Has been out of form over fences since returning from an absence last year; hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
THE BIG CHAP has been consistent and progressive since sent handicapping last summer and has two good-ground wins on the board. He was a fine third over this trip in a similar grade of handicap at Killarney last month and Paul Flynn engages a useful claimer to take 7lb off his back. Gallant John Joe has often been highly tried in his career and has to be accorded plenty of respect at this level of competition. There was little wrong with his second to an improving type on his most recent hurdles starts at Punchestown in February and he was placed over fences at that venue's festival meeting. Digby has been off since tipping up at the Galway festival but won a big-field novice handicap at Fairyhouse earlier last year and merits respect despite his long lay-off.
VOLANTIS built on his encouraging hurdles debut when landing a Fairyhouse maiden in February and, with the likelihood of better to come now moving back up in trip for this handicap debut, he could be the answer. The Big Chap is a much-respected main danger with conditions in his favour, while Rebel Rose will be a threat if fit enough to do herself justice following a 9-month absence and Digby is also worth a second look.
Consistent and progressive, THE BIG CHAP (nap) looks the way to go but Gallant John Joe and the long-absent Digby are feared

1st (2) (1.38/1 +54%) Iron Sheriff |
1.38/1(+54%) | (2) Iron Sheriff 1.38/1, Thrived in recent weeks, winning over this trip at Newcastle and Redcar. Shaped as if still in good form when third at Hamilton (9f) 12 days ago. Should go well again. Recorded form figures of 41413 during a busy May; return to 1m2f looks ideal; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/1 +44%) Mc'Ted |
5/1(+44%) | (3) Mc'Ted 5/1, Poor effort at Bath last time but placed on 3 of his 4 starts prior to that and capable of bouncing back. Form dipped last time but is largely consistent and likely to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7.5/1 +32%) Tiberio Force |
7.5/1(+32%) | (6) Tiberio Force 7.5/1, 17/2, seventh of 9 in handicap at Beverley (1½m, good to firm) 12 days ago. First-time blinkers (replacing cheekpieces) need to have a positive effect. Sole win came in first-time cheekpieces; interesting with blinkers now fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5.5/1 -47%) Calcutta Dream |
5.5/1(-47%) | (4) Calcutta Dream 5.5/1, Two AW wins in January. Not at best at Chelmsford last time and now back on turf for the first time this year. Stable won the race last year. All wins on AW; turf record is far from solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5/1 -67%) A Shining Moon |
5/1(-67%) | (1) A Shining Moon 5/1, Reacted well to first-time cheekpieces when springing 25/1 surprise over C&D 17 days ago. Raised 5 lb but a bigger issue is probably whether the headgear has the same effect again. Took well to first-time cheekpieces in C&D maiden h'cap last month; may build on that win. |

6th (8) (12/1 +64%) Isla Diamonds |
12/1(+64%) | (8) Isla Diamonds 12/1, 66/1, 7½ lengths fifth of 9 to Iron Sheriff in handicap at Redcar (1¼m, good) 14 days ago, some late headway after getting hampered. Not sure to build on latest effort; now 0-18 and has patchy record. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (50/1 -67%) Air Of Approval |
50/1(-67%) | (7) Air Of Approval 50/1, Well held in 2 bumpers and 3 Flat starts. More chance now handicapping at a low level bit still tough to make a strong case for. Handicap debutante who holds very weak claims on form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
IRON SHERIFF wasn't disgraced when third over a trip shy of his best at Hamilton last time and a return to this distance could be enough for the gelding to regain the winning thread. A Shining Moon shed his maiden tag over C&D in May and he cannot be discounted, despite a 5lb rise, while Her Way makes most appeal of the remainder.
The vote goes to HER WAY who was a bit better than the result over 1½m at Thirsk last week and can take advantage of her reduced mark back at her optimum trip. The thriving Iron Sheriff is clear second choice ahead of Mc'Ted.
Well-treated TIBERIO FORCE is interesting back down in trip with blinkers applied. A Shining Moon is second choice.

2.75/1(+58%) | (4) Love You Grandpa 2.75/1, In the frame on all her three runs, second of 3 in minor event at Doncaster (10.2f, good to firm). Off 11 months but still needs considering on her handicap debut with more to offer. Progressive form in maiden/novice company; off 12 months but still open to improvement. |

3rd (3) (4/1 -33%) Noble Masquerade |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Noble Masquerade 4/1, C&D winner. 11/1, creditable third of 10 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 21 days ago. Can give another good account. Good record over C&D and also when ridden by W Buick; each-way claims once again. |

5th (8) (10/1 +29%) Boasty |
10/1(+29%) | (8) Boasty 10/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in April. Good second of 5 in handicap (7/4) at Chelmsford City (10f) 39 days ago. In the picture once more. In fine form over 1m2f on AW this year but very different conditions today. |

6th (5) (3/1 +33%) Monteria |
3/1(+33%) | (5) Monteria 3/1, 20/1, career best when winning 7-runner handicap at this course (10f, heavy) 35 days ago. Up 6 lb but not taken lightly. Impressed over 1m2f on soft ground here last month; new trip & faster ground to deal with. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Love You Grandpa makes her handicap debut following a second over 1m2f at Doncaster last June, but she hasn't been seen since, so NOBLE MASQUERADE gets the vote. Eve Johnson Houghton's inmate was slowly away over C&D most recently but still kept on to finish third. With plenty of improvement possible, the gelded son of Sir Percy has the edge here. Monteria looks his most serious danger stepping up in trip following a comfortable success off 6lb lower last month.
A highly competitive handicap but Gary Morore's C&D winner THE WHIPMASTER caught the eye under tender handling on his recent return at Newbury and can capitalise on a good mark. Monteria is feared most on the back of his course win last time out. although Noble Masquerade, Love You Grandpa and Masqool all enter calculations too.
Love You Grandpa and The Whipmaster can go well but things look in place for a big run from NOBLE MASQUERADE.

3.33/1(+5%) | (2) Ayiko 3.33/1, €55,000 Champs Elysees gelding. Half-brother to bumper winner/fairly useful 19f/2½m hurdle winner Park This One. One to note on debut for a yard which does well in bumpers. 55,000euros 3yo; represents leading ownership and the market can guide. |

7.5/1(-15%) | (3) Charlie's Dilemma 7.5/1, Valirann gelding. Dam unraced. Respected stable has a solid bumper record. Interesting to see how this one goes in the betting. Dam unraced; from a yard that wins its share of bumpers and one to note in the betting. |

20/1(+39%) | (7) Mount Frisco 20/1, Once-raced maiden. Eighth of 12 in bumper (15/2) at Ballinrobe (15.6f, soft) on NH debut 59 days ago. Well held on debut but didn't appear to be unfancied at 15-2 and could show more. |

10th (10) (18/1 +28%) Hopkins |
18/1(+28%) | (10) Hopkins 18/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 13 in bumper (50/1) at Tramore (16.8f, good) 9 days ago. Beaten 22l at Cork and 28l at Tramore; surely needs more if she's to take this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Derek O'Connor is a significant booking for ALLY KAZOO and Sam Curling's newcomer is taken to score on debut. The homebred son of El Kabeir, unsold at last year's Derby Sale, is from a family of bumper winners including smart jumpers Threeunderthrufive and Benruben. Fellow debutant Ayiko, a half-brother to a bumper winner out of a mare who is related to bumper winners, made 55,000 Euros at the Land Rover Sale. He represents a yard with a good record in this category. Midfield in a valuable sales bumper at the Punchestown festival, Weseekherthere had creditable runs in maiden hurdles either side of that and is now tried in headgear. She looks to have the best claims of those that have run.
Gordon Elliott's WESEEKHERTHERE has shown a fair level of ability in a bumper/2 hurdles and is the percentage call, although a strong market move for newcomers such as Ayiko, Charlie's Dilemma and/or Ally Kazoo would put a slightly different slant on things.
Ayiko looks a likely type but ALLY KAZOO has a nice pedigree and Derek O'Connor is 6-40 for the yard in the last five years.

28/1(+0%) | (5) Panama City 28/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap at Ayr (7.2f, soft, 33/1). Off 8 months. Needs a couple of these to falter. Hasn't progressed but looks interesting on his C&D effort in spring 2022. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LORD ABAMA is well drawn in stall two and he was only denied by just over a length at Hamilton last time, for which he was only raised 1lb. The son of Profitable can be rewarded for his recent consistency and record his first victory. Another to consider is Milbanke, who has now dropped to only 1lb higher than his last winning mark and he could have a say. Grant Wood is also of interest.
Preference is for CAESARS PEARL, who pulled clear of the remainder when second at Ripon last time and still has relatively few miles on the clock. Lord Abama and Crypto Quest head the list of dangers.
Back down in grade, LORD ABAMA is taken to get off the mark. Caesars Pearl is second choice.

8th (5) (16/1 -45%) Kentucky Kingdom |
16/1(-45%) | (5) Kentucky Kingdom 16/1, 7/2, creditable third of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 32 days ago. Enters calculations. In good form on AW but he has something to prove on fast turf. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A facile winner over a similar trip at Yarmouth last time out, a 7lb raised mark looks unlikely to hold RAQISA back, even though she steps up in class for this outing. Mr Freedom made a pleasing return to the Flat when scoring by two and a half lengths at Lingfield earlier this month and could be dangerous, while the hat-trick seeking Mr Zee completes the shortlist.
A case can be made for a few of these but the most persuasive one is for LAWN RANGER who wasn't seen to best effect when fifth here last time and is weighted to go close in his bid for a fifth course victory. C&D winner Carp Kid and Chelmsford City third Kentucky Kingdom appeal as the pair to give Michael Attwater's course specialist most to do and can chase him home in that order.
Competitive for the grade but MR FREEDOM (nap) still appeals as being ahead of the handicapper and he can complete his hat-trick.

1st (1) (3/1 +0%) Hi Clare |
3/1(+0%) | (1) Hi Clare 3/1, Winner at Wolverhampton on final 2-y-o start. Good close third of 5 in handicap at Hamilton (9f, good to firm) on reappearance 12 days ago, albeit with the advantage of dictating the pace. Another prominent showing likely. Has proved largely consistent; good third at Hamilton on seasonal debut; solid chance. |

2nd (4) (2.25/1 +32%) Tasever |
2.25/1(+32%) | (4) Tasever 2.25/1, Fair maiden. Good third of 14 in handicap (20/1) at York (7f, good to firm) 16 days ago, sticking to task after being off the bridle a long way out. 1m looks worth a go. Respected. Consistent maiden who has possibilities upped further in trip; 1m is likely to suit. |

3rd (2) (2.5/1 -81%) Pearl Eye |
2.5/1(-81%) | (2) Pearl Eye 2.5/1, 9/2, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Haydock (1m, good to firm) 17 days ago, responding well. 4 lb rise looks fair. Should give another good account. Has form figures of 1341 in handicaps, winning at Haydock upped to 1m most recently. |

4th (6) (18/1 -29%) Original Thinker |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Original Thinker 18/1, Fair form. Bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap (16/1) at Redcar (1m, good to soft) 21 days ago. Others have more pressing claims. Ran encouragingly in AW event on reappearance; lesser effort on turf since. |

5th (3) (5/1 +55%) Fariba |
5/1(+55%) | (3) Fariba 5/1, Fair performer. Creditable third on AW reappearance in April. Needs to shrug off a lesser run at Newmarket since. Well held at Newmarket last time, taking turf record to 0-4. |

6th (5) (16/1 +11%) Vortigan |
16/1(+11%) | (5) Vortigan 16/1, Well beaten in all 3 handicap starts, the latest at Beverley 4 weeks ago. First-time cheekpieces will need to make a difference. Has gone backwards since handicapping; headgear enlisted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Pearl Eye struck by half a length last time at Haydock in this grade and he is likely to go close once more off a 4lb higher rating, but he could be up against it to beat HI CLARE. The three-year-old filly shaped very well on her first start of the season at Hamilton over 1m1f and she is fancied to come out on top off the same mark. Another to note is Tasever, who tries this trip for the first time.
PEARL EYE is still well weighted andf might be able to follow up his recent Haydock success. Tasever, fourth in a more competitive race than this at York last time, and recent Hamilton third Hi Clare can give Darryll Holland's charge most to do.
This step up to 1m may well enable the consistent maiden TASEVER to open his account. Pearl Eye is feared most.
Ths is the racecard key.
