1st (2) (15/2 +38%) No No Tonic |
15/2(+38%) | (2) No No Tonic 15/2, Dual winner last term and a couple of solid placed efforts this season, including over C&D. Not so good the last twice, though. Has had a wind op. Major player if judged on autumn form but not at best on last couple of outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (14/1 -17%) Iris Des Issards |
14/1(-17%) | (7) Iris Des Issards 14/1, Player on the form of his second in 17f Exeter maiden in December but he made a rather low-key start to life in handicaps at Hereford 6 weeks ago. No better than respectable fifth of eight on last month's handicap debut; needs to step up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/2 +63%) Winterwatch |
9/2(+63%) | (5) Winterwatch 9/2, Three-time winner on the Flat and bubbling under in this sphere. This longer trip will suit and he's one to note. Only beaten about 10l in two 2m handicaps here this year but needs to find something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (80/1 -60%) Iron Heart |
80/1(-60%) | (12) Iron Heart 80/1, Fair hurdles winner over C&D but he's been out of form since a promising start over fences for this yard in September. New headgear. Second in a chase on stable debut but three heavy defeats have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (17/2 +66%) Halligator |
17/2(+66%) | (9) Halligator 17/2, Made a winning start over hurdles in a Uttoxeter maiden in June 2022 and runner-up next 2 starts. Lightly raced subsequently and disappointing the last twice 3 months apart. Tricky to fancy. Still quite lightly raced but has become disappointing; down the field here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (20/1 +0%) A Mere Bagatelle |
20/1(+0%) | (4) A Mere Bagatelle 20/1, Won handicap chase at Kilbeggan over this trip back from a break last summer. Mixed bag since but fresh probably the time to catch him and he's one to consider. Not at best when over fences in the autumn and not obviously well treated over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (22/1 -561%) Pottlerath |
22/1(-561%) | (6) Pottlerath 22/1, Successful 3 times over hurdles during 2022 and sprouted wings over fences at the start of the summer, completing a hat-trick at Bangor. Back from 5 months off over much shorter trip than he usually contests and he might need it. Has fitness to prove after layoff, and seems best at around 3m on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (28/1 -40%) Escobedo |
28/1(-40%) | (13) Escobedo 28/1, Belatedly off the mark over hurdles on final start for Milton Harris at Sedgefield in October (sold for 3,500 gns). Just ticking over on the level of late and others preferred. Placed twice on AW since hurdle win in October but is not very consistent; ground a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (6/1 -9%) Kayf Legend |
6/1(-9%) | (1) Kayf Legend 6/1, Bagged a Stratford bumper at the beginning of last season and struck at the second attempt over hurdles at Lingfield (2m, good). Pulled up in a Kempton Grade 2 when last seen a year ago and this handicap debut represents a far more realistic assignment, while the longer trip will suit, too. Not seen since pulled up in Grade 2 novice in February 2023 but remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (6/1 -20%) Asian Spice |
6/1(-20%) | (11) Asian Spice 6/1, Represents some of the season's strongest low-grade handicap hurdle formlines courtesy of her exploits at Exeter (won twice in November). Struggled in the mud there last time but remains one to be positive about back up in trip with good conditional booked. Won twice in November; not in same form last month but further progress still possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (11/4 -22%) Time To Dazzle |
11/4(-22%) | (8) Time To Dazzle 11/4, From a useful family and has made a good start in handicaps, improving further to land Fontwell event in the mud 6 weeks ago eased down. More to come and leading claims up 8 lb. Stayed on well to win by 8l at Fontwell last month and still has low mileage; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (150/1 -500%) Pak Army |
150/1(-500%) | (3) Pak Army 150/1, Completed a four-timer from the front (second leg on Flat) when seeing off 6 rivals at Stratford in June. Ran no sort of race after 8 months off at Huntingdon recently, though. Stamina to prove and not easy to make a case for. Pulled up on recent debut for owner-trainer and difficult to enthuse over after that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (10) (28/1 -12%) Play By The Rules |
28/1(-12%) | (10) Play By The Rules 28/1, Hasn't fired so far this season but was a decisive winner of C&D handicap on his last visit to Taunton a year ago. Yet to hit top gear this season but won over C&D last year, and drying ground would help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TIME TO DAZZLE had little difficulty in dispatching a subsequent winner when opening his account at Fontwell last month. An 8lb rise in the ratings for Gary Moore's charge looks far from insurmountable and he's taken to double his tally. The biggest threat could emerge from likely front-runner No No Tonic, who races off the same mark as her C&D third in November. Asian Spice and Halligator could also play a prominent role if performing to their best.
TIME TO DAZZLE ran out an easy winner at Fontwell 6 weeks ago and there could be plenty more to come from this good-looking 6-y-o, so he's hard to get away from. Asian Spice remains one to be positive about, while A Mere Bagatelle and Winterwatch are a couple of others to note.
It might be worth chancing the fitness of KAYF LEGEND, who looked very promising when winning a Lingfield novice in February 2023.

1st (5) (5/2 +38%) Celestial Fashion |
5/2(+38%) | (5) Celestial Fashion 5/2, Modest maiden but produced another good effort from 4 lb out of the weights when second at Sedgefield (17f, heavy) 7 weeks ago. Others preferred for the win. Not far away the last twice and should be able to nick one of these sooner or later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/6 +0%) Polisud |
5/6(+0%) | (1) Polisud 5/6, One-time fairly useful chaser/hurdle winner in France who took advantage of a big drop in the weights to land class 5 C&D handicap hurdle 3 weeks ago under this rider, beating a subsequent course winner. Remains well treated after a 7 lb rise. Beat an in-form horse here 21 days and probably well treated even after the 7lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -50%) Not Now Tayto |
12/1(-50%) | (4) Not Now Tayto 12/1, Made frame both starts in Irish points and might do better now handicapping in this sphere after 3 heavy defeats in just over a month in maidens/novice. Tongue tie fitted and is one to keep an eye on. Not shown much over hurdles but this is his handicap debut and on goes the tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 -33%) Into The Sunset |
6/1(-33%) | (2) Into The Sunset 6/1, Dual winner in 2022 and probably needed the run after 18 months off here in February, the steady gallop not a help, either. Remains lightly raced and could show more now. Two wins on good ground but form on softer is much less convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (16/1 -60%) Milan Echo |
16/1(-60%) | (3) Milan Echo 16/1, Ex-Irish maiden who took a step back in the right direction on first run for this trainer in November. Off again since though and might need a longer trip. Stable debut when running best race yet to be 14l off the winner at Sedgefield. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A C&D winner under Emma Smith-Chaston on heavy last time, POLISUD has an obvious chance of following up off a 7lb higher mark. Next best is Into The Sunset, who was on the back of a 546-day absence when he finished down the field in a similar race last month. He is entitled to be sharper now he has blown the cobwebs away and can go well, while Celestial Fashion is the pick of the others.
POLISUD remains well treated on his French form after a 7 lb rise for his C&D win 3 weeks ago and can go in again. Into The Sunset should have come on for his first run in 18 months here in February and could offer a lot more this time.
This looks best left to POLISUD, who accounted for an-form horse here recently and could still be well handicapped.

1st (9) (8/13 +7%) Ryan's Rocket |
8/13(+7%) | (9) Ryan's Rocket 8/13, £110,000 purchase following an Irish point win. Shaped better than the distance beaten suggests sole outing in bumpers and produced a promising first effort over hurdles when second in a C&D novice in December. Sure to improve and very much the one to beat. Clear second to smart rival over C&D on hurdle debut in December; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) (11/1 +8%) Manuelito |
11/1(+8%) | (13) Manuelito 11/1, Cracksman half-brother to smart hurdler Navajo Pass (2m-2½m winner). Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1¼m) for Richard Hannon who was given a considerate introduction to hurdling when a well-held third at Wincanton 54 days ago. Possibly more one for handicaps later on. Fair Flat-racer; kept on steadily for remote third on stable/hurdle debut at Wincanton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +14%) Diamond Dice |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Diamond Dice 3/1, Showed promise in bumpers and left his hurdling debut form behind when landing a 15-runner maiden at Ludlow (15.8f, heavy) 34 days ago, jumping well and travelling powerfully. Has a penalty to shoulder but likely to progress further. Has penalty for last month's Ludlow win but can still play a major role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (66/1 -560%) El Curamach |
66/1(-560%) | (4) El Curamach 66/1, Hinted at ability when well held in a Chepstow novice hurdle (19.4f, heavy) on debut 108 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Ran well to a point on debut but was well beaten in the end; drops from 2m3f here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (14/1 -100%) Intrepide Sud |
14/1(-100%) | (6) Intrepide Sud 14/1, Fair bumper winner who is bred to do better in this sphere but has a 20-month absence to overcome and Ryan's Rocket appears the stable's first choice on jockey bookings. Won very ordinary Worcester bumper in summer 2022; not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (80/1 -21%) Nobody Told Me |
80/1(-21%) | (14) Nobody Told Me 80/1, Fair handicapper on Flat, stays 13f, below form last 4 starts. Sold from Jedd O'Keeffe for only 8,500 gns in October. Won on the Flat last spring but was in poor form last summer/autumn; stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (250/1 -279%) Katopop |
250/1(-279%) | (7) Katopop 250/1, Runner-up completed start in points but has shown nothing in 2 novice hurdles 10 months apart. Struggled on both hurdling starts last year; look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (80/1 -142%) Pillar Rock |
80/1(-142%) | (8) Pillar Rock 80/1, Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Monviel and French hurdler Wealth. Looks one for handicaps after this. With a good stable but was soundly beaten on his first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (8/1 +20%) Diesel Line |
8/1(+20%) | (3) Diesel Line 8/1, Attracted support and made a winning debut in good style in 9-runner bumper at Exeter in February 2023. However, has been disappointing both starts over hurdles. Quite impressive in a bumper last season but has made disappointing start to hurdle career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (200/1 -203%) Cave Article |
200/1(-203%) | (2) Cave Article 200/1, Runner-up completed start in points but was pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Doncaster on Rules debut and again offered little at Fakenham last time. A well-beaten 80-1 shot on both hurdling starts this year; can only be watched at present. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (300/1 -200%) Telenn D'annain |
300/1(-200%) | (11) Telenn D'annain 300/1, Well held in a brace of bumpers 8 months apart. Showed no significant promise when beaten about 40l in two bumpers; hurdling debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (20/1 +0%) Skin Full |
20/1(+0%) | (10) Skin Full 20/1, €8,000 3-y-o, £82,000 4-y-o, Doyen gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler I Am Spider Man, stays 2¾m, and modest hurdler Maggie O, stays 2½m. Runner-up sole outing in Irish points (Apr 2023). Bought for £82,000 after clear second on Irish point debut last April; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (300/1 -200%) Gentlieman Ross |
300/1(-200%) | (5) Gentlieman Ross 300/1, Swerved and unseated rider first over C&D (soft, 150/1) on debut 15 days ago. Hood quickly reached for. Jinked and unseated rider at first flight when 150-1 for debut here a fortnight ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
RYAN'S ROCKET almost sprang a surprise when a close-up second over track and trip in December. There was plenty of encouragement to be taken from that hurdles bow and the Fergal O'Brien-trained inmate should land the spoils if running to a similar level. Penalised maiden hurdle scorer Diamond Dice must concede 7lb to the selection, but the five-year-old is feared most, ahead of Rules debutant Skin Full, who finished second in his sole point-to-point outing.
RYAN'S ROCKET pulled clear with one verging on useful on his hurdling debut over C&D back in December and should prove hard to beat with improvement forthcoming. Recent Ludlow-scorer Diamond Dice appeals as the one to give him most to think about ahead of stablemate Intrepide Sud.
This is a good opportunity for RYAN'S ROCKET, who pulled nicely clear of the others when second to a smart rival over C&D in December.

1st (1) (Evens +33%) Beneficially Yours |
Evens(+33%) | (1) Beneficially Yours Evens, £80,000 purchase after winning his only start in Irish points (Feb 19) and promising start on Rules/hurdles debut when third of 10 in a Carlisle novice (17f, soft) in December. Bred to be suited by this sort of trip and big shout here with improvement likely. Irish point winner and the form of his third at Carlisle makes for good reading. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 +25%) Raceview Road |
5/2(+25%) | (5) Raceview Road 5/2, Multiple point winner who was placed only start in bumpers and promise to glean from his second of 5 in a C&D novice 3 weeks ago, without being knocked about. May well build on that but chasing likely to be more his game further down the line. Beaten 26l into second over C&D three weeks ago and needs to leave that form behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 -133%) Give Me A Boom |
7/2(-133%) | (4) Give Me A Boom 7/2, Promise only start in bumpers during 2022 and encouraging he could build on his belated reappearance/hurdles debut run when second of 9 in a Southwell novice (20.4f) 3 weeks ago. A repeat gives him claims here with rider taking off a handy 5 lb. Beaten by a Paul Nicholls horse at Southwell (2m4f, soft) and this looks no tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (125/1 -150%) Miss Controversia |
125/1(-150%) | (7) Miss Controversia 125/1, Shaped like a stayer in bumpers and not short-term encouragement to glean from pair of hurdle outings so far this term. Looks one for later on. Good jumping family but yet to be closer than 21l in two bumpers and as many hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 +88%) Bluebell Glen |
12/1(+88%) | (6) Bluebell Glen 12/1, Best effort in bumpers last season when runner-up on heavy at Hexham 12 months ago but well held sent hurdling back from 10 months off at Carlisle (19.3f) in February. Handicaps will be more her bag further down the line. Went off 150-1 for hurdle debut at Carlisle, performing accordingly; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (33/1 -230%) Danno's Dollar |
33/1(-230%) | (3) Danno's Dollar 33/1, Bred to be stayer and shaped in kind when midfield on bumper debut at Ayr in November. Not in same form when well beaten seventh at Carlisle (17f) last month but this longer trip ought to suit now hurdling for new yard. First bumper run was better than the second; same owners but has moved yards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (150/1 -200%) Court Case |
150/1(-200%) | (2) Court Case 150/1, Minor promise in bumpers but has offered little on each of his 3 starts over hurdles in recent months. Has weak claims, though this will be his first time away from heavy ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The comfortable winner of a point-to-point before changing hands for 80,000 pounds, BENEFICIALLY YOURS displayed a willing attitude with a respectable third on his hurdles debut at Carlisle in December. That form looks solid, with the runner-up going in twice since, and this son of Milan could be hard to beat with a step forward. Give Me A Boom is also shaping up nicely under Rules and warrants consideration, while Raceview Road is shortlisted after finishing second to a useful rival last time.
A winner of his sole start in points, BENEFICIALLY YOURS offered plenty to work on starting out over hurdles when third in a Carlisle novice in December. Open to improvement and bred to be suited by this longer trip, he earns the vote to build on that effort now. Give Me A Boom, following his recent second at Southwell, can give the selection most to think about.
An absence of 100 days needs defying but BENEFICIALLY YOURS will have every chance if repeating the form of his Carlisle third.

1st (8) (9/2 +0%) Tuscan Rose |
9/2(+0%) | (8) Tuscan Rose 9/2, Didn't offer much last season but more encouraging signs from her low base in handicaps in recent months, shaping like a greater test would suit when third at Southwell (20.4f) in January. Shortlisted. 0-7 over hurdles but was placed over 2m4f in January; a possible if this new trip suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/2 -65%) Fortune Forever |
11/2(-65%) | (1) Fortune Forever 11/2, Showed ability in bumpers last season and found just one too good on return/hurdles debut at Warwick in October. Back to that sort of form when fourth of 15 in handicap at Hereford (19.7f, good to soft) last time and looks worth a try at this longer trip. Kept on well for fourth over 2m3f on handicap debut; looks interesting over new trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 -40%) Giulietta |
7/2(-40%) | (6) Giulietta 7/2, Related to some useful performers in these silks and duly improved on her handicap debut when just touched off at Warwick (19f) in November. Something presumably not right when pulled up at Ffos Las in December and she's been given time since. Retains potential for top stable. Struggled on heavy ground last time; better judged on close second on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/2 +63%) Emma Hamilton |
9/2(+63%) | (7) Emma Hamilton 9/2, Well held in maiden/novice hurdles and ran badly on handicap debut at Hereford last month. Bit to prove at present. Beaten about 47l on last month's handicap debut at Hereford; major improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/1 +8%) Spitfire Girl |
11/1(+8%) | (2) Spitfire Girl 11/1, Ended last season with narrow victory (off 2lb lower) over C&D but been a mixed bag since, returning to hurdles latest after chasing campaign seemingly shelved following Hereford fall in December. Perecentage call is to look elsewhere. Won this in 2023 but has lost her way this season; leap of faith required to support her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (10/1 -25%) My Girl Katie |
10/1(-25%) | (4) My Girl Katie 10/1, On a good mark judged on last season's peak hurdles form and took a step back in right direction when sixth of 16 in handicap (10/3) at Hereford (25.5f, soft) 17 days ago. Enters calculations. Managed only sixth when heavily backed at Hereford this month; now 0-9 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (16/1 -100%) Malina Jamila |
16/1(-100%) | (3) Malina Jamila 16/1, Bumper/hurdles winner but not the most consistent, typically following a solid fourth at Doncaster with a poor effort when last seen at same track in January. Others more persuasive. Ran well in first-time blinkers two starts ago but quickly back in the doldrums last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (12/1 -33%) Shesupincourt |
12/1(-33%) | (5) Shesupincourt 12/1, Dual winner (at up to 23.6f) this term who returned to form when second in Southwell handicap (24.3f) last month. However, ran no sort of race at same course latest and others are more appealing. Dual slow-ground winner in late 2023 but has become very inconsistent; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (9/1 +36%) Sindabella |
9/1(+36%) | (9) Sindabella 9/1, Back to winning ways at Exeter (18.5f) in December but not built on that and finished well held over C&D last time. Won off much reduced mark in December, after a break, but recent form is uninspiring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (40/1 +39%) Miss Harriett |
40/1(+39%) | (10) Miss Harriett 40/1, Long-standing maiden who has offered little in 4 starts following a lengthy absence. Stiff task on her hands from out of the weights. Well beaten on all four appearances this season and now 0-22 over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TUSCAN ROSE has been steadily improving since entering handicaps, as evidenced by her latest third-placed effort at Southwell. This step up to three miles looks sure to suit the daughter of Milan and a breakthrough success could be imminent. Fortune Forever is another potential improver now faced with a stiffer test of stamina and the six-year-old isn't taken lightly, while a 105-day layoff should have freshened up Giulietta, who likely has better days ahead.
GIULIETTA is in good hands and may have been undone by the testing conditions when disappointing at Ffos Las last time. She can open her account. Tuscan Rose and Fortune Forever should also go well.
Preference is for FORTUNE FOREVER, who moves up from 2m3f after an encouraging handicap debut in January.

1st (4) (Evens +43%) Hello Judge |
Evens(+43%) | (4) Hello Judge Evens, Winning hurdler who added a second chase victory to his tally at Carlisle (20f) last month, able to dictate but getting the job done in determined fashion. Went down fighting to a fellow last-time-out winner there next time and should go well again. In form and just missed out over 2m5f at Carlisle (soft) this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -64%) Busty Boy |
9/2(-64%) | (3) Busty Boy 9/2, Successful on 3 of his 4 starts in Irish points so no surprise he left hurdles form behind when making a winning chase debut at Kelso on return. Followed that with a good second to a progressive type over the same C&D but disappointed at Ayr next time. Given a break since and can bounce back. Below par last time but a 97-day absence could be a good thing; feasibly treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3/1 +50%) Ritson |
3/1(+50%) | (6) Ritson 3/1, Fair hurdler who opened account in this sphere when running out a decisive winner here (16.3f) 15 months ago. Soundly beaten next 4 starts but stopped the slide to some extent when third of 7 in handicap chase at Kelso (17.1f, soft) 16 days ago, going in snatches. has to be of interest after showing signs of a revival when third at Kelso (2m1f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 +9%) The Paddy Pie |
5/1(+9%) | (5) The Paddy Pie 5/1, Has hinted at a revival on a couple of occasions this season, including when fourth of 12 in a Doncaster handicap on penultimate start. Best to overlook subsequent effort (went off too hard upped to 25.2f on deep ground) and he's lurking on a dangerous mark. Back in trip but he has a poor strike-rate over the last four seasons. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HELLO JUDGE has a solid profile over fences and having gone agonisingly close when second in a novices' handicap at Carlisle 19 days ago, the eight-year-old can go one place better off just 2lb higher. Busty Boy is still open to improvement and has to be feared off a potentially lenient mark, while Ritson took a step back in the right direction when third at Kelso.
HELLO JUDGE arrives at the top of his game and is preferred to Busty Boy and Fete Champetre, who both need to shrug off disappointing efforts.
Ann Hamilton's HELLO JUDGE narrowly missed out on his final run and seems to be raising his game.

1st (1) (8/11 +51%) Loup De Maulde |
8/11(+51%) | (1) Loup De Maulde 8/11, Tough and reliable customer scored four times around 3m last year and opened his account over fences in good style at Huntingdon (23.6f) 9 days ago, taking over 3 out and quickening clear. Will take some stopping under a penalty on that evidence. Four-time hurdle winner; scored off lower chase mark last week; respected under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/1 +10%) King Turgeon |
9/1(+10%) | (3) King Turgeon 9/1, Ran well when runner-up on return at Chepstow in November and duly went one place better at Exeter (24.2f, soft) later that month. However, recent efforts not so inspiring, disappointing when fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Fontwell (26f) 6 weeks ago. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Good winner at Exeter in November but form has dipped since; has a point to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/2 -22%) Mortens Leam |
11/2(-22%) | (7) Mortens Leam 11/2, Veteran who has been very lightly raced in recent seasons and, having displayed encouraging sings when second over C&D last month, he duly went one place better at Stratford (22.5f) 2 weeks ago, asserting near the finish. This rates tougher, however. Second over C&D last month and went one better at Stratford a fortnight ago; a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (50/1 -52%) Bbold |
50/1(-52%) | (4) Bbold 50/1, Fairly useful 3m winner at his best and went with zest for a long way (in refitted blinkers) when sixth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (26.5f) in June on final start for Syd Hosie. Absent since and probably best watched on return with headgear discarded. Good-ground specialist; not the force of old and makes stable debut after 273-day layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 +67%) Off To A Flyer |
4/1(+67%) | (5) Off To A Flyer 4/1, Successful over hurdles at Ayr (24.3f) last spring but not kicked on as expected this term, including in trio of starts over fences in recent months, pulled up at Wincanton (20f) in February. Subsequently undergone wind surgery and interesting what the market makes of him with tongue strap applied. Good fourth over hurdles in December; very little has gone to plan in first three chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 -100%) No No Maestro |
14/1(-100%) | (2) No No Maestro 14/1, Built up a good strike rate for this yard and gained fourth success over fences at Uttoxeter (26f) back in June. Absent subsequently but unlikely he'll be lacking for fitness on return and not out of things. Won when last in action but returns from eight-month absence on career-high mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Four of the seven contenders in this contest are last-time-out winners, with slight preference for LOUP DE MAULDE, who recorded a seven-length victory at Huntingdon. Robbie Llewellyn's seven-year-old hadn't been seen in this sphere since June 2022 prior to that success and he is taken to go in again, despite having to shoulder a 7lb penalty. No No Maestro was victorious by a similar margin to the selection over 3m2f at Uttoxeter when last seen in June last year and he could have a say off a 4lb higher mark. Moytier takes a step up in trip and he isn't out of it either.
A much-improved model over hurdles last year, LOUP DE MAULDE transferred the progress shown in that sphere to chasing when running out a comfortable winner at Huntingdon 9 days ago and a bold follow up bid looks on the cards under a penalty. Fellow last-time-out winner's Moytier and Mortens Leam are others fancied to be in the shake up.
There is no strong temptation to oppose LOUP DE MAULDE (nap), who assumed control quite a long way from home at Huntingdon last week.

1st (5) (5/1 +55%) Rafferty's Return |
5/1(+55%) | (5) Rafferty's Return 5/1, Scored at Carlisle in February but visored for 1st time when only seventh of 9 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, soft) 24 days ago. This C&D winner needs to get back on track. Below par latest; takes on progressive opposition here and may struggle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (15/8 +62%) Joker De Mai |
15/8(+62%) | (3) Joker De Mai 15/8, Useful chaser in France and also landed 2m3f handicap hurdle at Lingfield for his new yard in December. Twice runner-up since at Exeter and Kempton so he has to enter calculations. Brings strong form claims and he's Harry Derham's only runner on the card. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (28/1 -27%) Pay The Piper |
28/1(-27%) | (1) Pay The Piper 28/1, Useful winning chaser but he's yet to fire in four runs this term, having his first start over hurdles for 3 years when last of six here last time. Others much preferred. Has struggled this season and this is no easy race in which to rediscover some form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/4 +8%) Inox Allen |
11/4(+8%) | (6) Inox Allen 11/4, £40,00 buy after winning an Irish point and bagged an Hexham maiden and Ayr novice before Christmas. Had a breathing operation and also fitted with a tongue trap ahead of good third of 10 in Prestige Hurdle at Haydock last month. Very much one to consider now handicapping. Unbeaten until struggling in a Grade 2; remains of interest; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (5/1 +9%) Booster Bob |
5/1(+9%) | (7) Booster Bob 5/1, Completed a hat-trick over hurdles in 2m novice at Sandown in December. Well-beaten last of 4 to Rafferty's Return in handicap at Carlisle (19.3f, heavy) 36 days ago though so has a bit to prove now. Highly progressive this season and was too bad to be true on latest handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (6/1 -33%) Rich Spirit |
6/1(-33%) | (4) Rich Spirit 6/1, Fairly useful hurdler who scored at Catterick in December and posted a good second on his handicap debut at Doncaster (19.4) following month. Fell at the first at Kelso last time but can bounce back here. Fell early last time (Grade 2); nicely progressive prior to that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Three-time maiden/novice hurdle winner BOOSTER BOB was too bad to be true when bombing out in last place on his handicap bow at Carlisle last month. His previous victory in a Listed event at Sandown earmarked him as one to follow and the six-year-old could be worth chancing. The biggest threat may emerge from Harry Derham's Joker De Mai, who has done little wrong since switched to handicap company. Inox Allen also warrants respect.
A few of these offer potential, not least NAB WOOD who still looks ahead of his mark despite taking an 8 lb rise for his most recent facile Kelso victory. Handicap debutant Inox Allen also has better days ahead of him and could emerge as the main threat to Nicky Richards' hat-trick seeker, although the consistent Joker de Mai can also have a say.
Harry Derham has one runner on the card and that's JOKER DE MAI (nap) who beat all bar a Kempton specialist there last time out.

1st (12) (28/1 -180%) Defence Treaty |
28/1(-180%) | (12) Defence Treaty 28/1, Course winner. First run since leaving Nigel Twiston-Davies when creditable 1¾ lengths third of 6 to Opticality in handicap at this course (11.1f, 14/1) 12 days ago, well positioned. No reason why he won't go well again. Beaten by Opticality over 1m3f (stable debut) latest; renews rivalry on 4lb better terms.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/1 +38%) Extinction |
10/1(+38%) | (7) Extinction 10/1, Modest maiden who again ran below best when sixth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (11f) in September. Absent since but comes here with yard amongst the winners so interesting if the market spoke in his favour. Six-race maiden; failed to kick on from promising debut; stamina reserves unknown at 1m4f.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 -14%) Molly Mischief |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Molly Mischief 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, first run since leaving Jessica Macey when very good second of 8 in handicap at this course (14.1f) 75 days ago, headway to lead inside final 1f and collared close home. Comes here easily one of the least exposed and possibilities down in trip. Runner-up on stable/h'cap debut (1m6f) in January; twice withdrawn (stalls issues) since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (5/1 +50%) Further Measure |
5/1(+50%) | (8) Further Measure 5/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Respectable fifth of 11 in handicap (12/1) at Lingfield (12f, AW) 19 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Handily weighted (12lb below last winning mark); hung right-handed under pressure latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (10/1 +17%) Steps In The Sand |
10/1(+17%) | (11) Steps In The Sand 10/1, 50/1, first run since leaving John Joseph Hanlon when eleventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) 46 days ago, plenty to do entering straight and never on terms. Entitled to be sharper with that under her belt and better showing anticipated from this Irish raider. Infrequent winner (1-25); well beaten on last month's stable debut at Dundalk (1m4f, 50-1). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (15/2 +53%) Calshot Spit |
15/2(+53%) | (10) Calshot Spit 15/2, 20/1, sixth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 39 days ago. Up in trip. Others more persuasive. Still seeking first win (0-7); no real progress since fair Chelmsford sixth (1m2f) in Jan.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (12/1 +0%) Bay Of Naples |
12/1(+0%) | (2) Bay Of Naples 12/1, C&D winner. 12/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 18 days ago, fading from 2f out. Likely type to bounce back. Pretty consistent overall until producing a modest effort at Newcastle (1m2f) last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (16/1 -191%) Philos |
16/1(-191%) | (3) Philos 16/1, Respectable third of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford (14f) in December, outpaced 2f out and rallying final 1f. Should give another good account returning from a break/back down in trip. Won in first-time visor at Kempton (1m4f, from 5lb lower) in November; possibilities.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (22/1 -57%) Angel On High |
22/1(-57%) | (4) Angel On High 22/1, Latest win at Brighton in September. 40/1, not disgraced back from a break when seventh of 13 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 13 days ago. Others make greater appeal for win purposes. Yet to win beyond 1m2f; fared okay at Kempton (seventh), so probably worth a market check.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (13/2 -8%) Easter Island |
13/2(-8%) | (5) Easter Island 13/2, 11/8, fourth of 5 in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f) 14 days ago, challenging under 3f out and fading final 1f. Blinkers replace cheekpieces now and certainly not out of things from career-low mark. Maiden (0-10); below par (beaten fav) behind a progressive rival at Newcastle last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (15/2 -150%) Opticality |
15/2(-150%) | (9) Opticality 15/2, Off the mark at Wolverhampton (8.6f) in October. Efforts mixed subsequently but back to form when scoring over 11f here 12 days ago, headway to lead against far rail 1f out and keeping on. Not out of things nudged up 3 lb. Dug deep when winning over 1m3f here recently; extra furlong shouldn't hinder; thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (125/1 -400%) Sir Joseph Swan |
125/1(-400%) | (6) Sir Joseph Swan 125/1, 80/1, twelfth of 13 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 13 days ago, racing off the pace and never threatening following 7 months off. This ought to reveal more. Surprise winner at Yarmouth (1m6f) last summer; mixed fortunes overall for Archie Watson.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (18/1 +28%) Broctune Azure |
18/1(+28%) | (14) Broctune Azure 18/1, Maiden who fared better than previously when fifth of 9 in handicap (33/1) at this course (14.1f) 21 days ago. Needs to pull out more if she's to open her account here, though. Nine-race maiden; fair fifth (beaten 2.5l) over 1m6f here last time; isn't a forlorn hope.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (13) (150/1 -200%) Persian Wolf |
150/1(-200%) | (13) Persian Wolf 150/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2022. 200/1, last of 12 in handicap at this course (11.1f). Off 96 days. First run for yard after leaving David C. Griffiths. Yet to win beyond 1m2f+ (2-40 career); in poor form in recent times; first run for D. Shaw. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Opticality beat Defence Treaty (third) by just under two lengths over 1m3f here earlier in the month and a 4lb pull is unlikely to be enough for that form to be overturned. However, they could both be up against it with MOLLY MISCHIEF, who returned from a 286-day break to make a highly encouraging start to life with Jennie Candlish, filling the runner-up berth over 1m6f here. The daughter of Muhaarar goes off only 1lb higher and looks the one to be with. Philos completes the shortlist.
Plenty with claims and it could be worth chancing Irish-raider STEPS IN THE SAND. She shaped as if she'd come on for her return/yard debut effort at Dundalk in February and from a further reduced mark, confidence behind her in the betting would look significant. Molly Mischief and Easter Island head up the dangers, with recent course winner Opticality another in the mix.
A tricky opener. The recent course winner Opticality merits consideration, but a slight preference is for the returning PHILOS.

1st (1) (12/1 -33%) Wolf Prince |
12/1(-33%) | (1) Wolf Prince 12/1, Performed with credit on first 2 starts for this yard in 2022 but missed the whole of last season and hasn't shown much at Doncaster and over this C&D since returning from a lengthy absence. Twice been tailed off after an absence, last time here finishing well behind Celtic Art. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/4 +61%) Toonagh Warrior |
7/4(+61%) | (5) Toonagh Warrior 7/4, Duly built on promising debut for this yard when landing a 2m Wetherby novice in November before going close on handicap bow at Ascot the following month. Not disgraced both subsequent starts and he's a major player. Doing well for his new team and peak efforts make for excellent reading; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/4 +25%) Celtic Art |
9/4(+25%) | (3) Celtic Art 9/4, Scored twice at Wincanton last season and returned to form when landing a 6-runner Lingfield handicap in November. Latest C&D third was a decent effort and, with the drying ground a good thing where this 7-y-o is concerned, he should make his presence felt. Not on a bad mark at all and ran an encouraging third behind an improving novice over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (2/1 +33%) Amelia's Dance |
2/1(+33%) | (4) Amelia's Dance 2/1, Winless since 2022 but she likes it here (3 of her 4 career wins have been gained over C&D) and she's been knocking firmly on the door this season, finding just one too good on 5 of her 6 starts since October. Another bold show on the cards. Tough mark but reliable around here and hard to envisage her not being involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (125/1 -594%) Manor Park |
125/1(-594%) | (2) Manor Park 125/1, Resumed winning ways at Newton Abbot last July but absent since finishing out with the washing in the Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen later that month. Probably best watched starting out for new yard here. Multiple winner but makes stable debut after a lengthy absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
CELTIC ART looks the way to go as the seven-year-old was beaten four lengths into third in this grade over C&D last time and he only has a 1lb higher mark to contend with. It would be no surprise to see him get his head back in front, while Amelia's Dance will be looking to better her second-placed finishes on five of her last six starts. Toonagh Warrior rounds out the shortlist.
Stuart Edmunds has his string in good order and can strike here with TOONAGH WARRIOR, who was just edged out in a strong Ascot handicap in December and he performed with greater credit than his finishing position would suggest at Newbury last time. Amelia's Dance is hard to knock, for all that it's been a while since her latest success, and she is feared most ahead of the hat-trick seeking Hara Kiri and Celtic Art.
A tight handicap. CELTIC ART ran really well behind an improving novice here last time and today's drier surface is in his favour

1st (2) (10/3 +26%) Has Troke |
10/3(+26%) | (2) Has Troke 10/3, Fair winner at 19f over hurdles and has shown a similar level of form over fences, though looked a ride in a change of headgear at Lingfield (22f) 3 weeks ago. Cheekpieces back on. Third at Lingfield last time and the two ahead of him have both run well since. |

2nd (6) (2/1 +33%) Le Grand Vert |
2/1(+33%) | (6) Le Grand Vert 2/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2021 but wasted no time getting back to form in a first-time visor when second of 6 in handicap chase at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) 26 days ago. Big chance with a repeat. In this new headgear combination when pushing an in-form rival close at Wetherby. |

3rd (3) (11/1 +45%) Poetry Man |
11/1(+45%) | (3) Poetry Man 11/1, Runner-up completed start in Irish points and best effort over hurdles when fourth in a course novice (16.9f, heavy) in January. Failed to build on that run on his chasing/handicap debut here the following month and looked a hard ride when pulled up at Carlisle last time. Cheekpieces go on. Hasn't looked a natural in either chase run and now goes in cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/4 +25%) Euchan Falls |
9/4(+25%) | (4) Euchan Falls 9/4, Dual winner at 20f over hurdles who bounced back to form when runner-up in 3m handicap at Ayr 18 days ago, rallying from 2 out. Unexposed at this trip and can go well again. He was second to a last-time-out winner at Ayr (3m, good to soft); thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (11/2 +21%) Old Page |
11/2(+21%) | (7) Old Page 11/2, Long-standing maiden who ran one of his better races when second of 6 in handicap chase at Sedgefield (26.9f, heavy) 32 days ago. Wouldn't be sure to back that up, though. Rallying second at Sedgefield (3m3f, soft) a month ago but he's now 0-24; others are safer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LE GRAND VERT found only a progressive rival too strong when returning to form in a first-time visor at Wetherby last month. A 2lb rise for that close-up second looks more than fair and a similar performance may prove sufficient. Euchan Falls also filled the runner-up berth on his latest outing at Ayr and the seven-year-old is unexposed over this longer distance. The gelded son of Poet's Voice isn't taken lightly, with Has Troke making most appeal of the remaining protagonists.
EUCHAN FALLS bounced back to form on his first try at 3m when finding only an up-and-comer too strong at Ayr 18 days ago and is the percentage call to go one better. Le Grand Vert is sure to be bang there if reproducing his latest effort, while it's too soon to be writing off Breakdance Kid.
Most of these come with some risks attached. HAS TROKE might be the answer with his latest effort looking all the better now.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
The Dragon King, a 21,000gns yearling, goes for the Clive Cox yard and has to be respected on his debut. However, he could lack the potential speed of SEX ON FIRE, who is bred to be fast as a son of Dark Angel, out of a 5f Listed winner, and goes for the red-hot Richard Spencer stable. Any market confidence behind him would increase interest, while Off The Bench changed hands for 45,000gns back in September and he also warrants a market check.
It usually pays to follow the Brocklesby form early doors so CLAY SHOVELER has to be the call given he seems set to come on for his run in Saturday's contest and has a favourable draw. Paddock clues and the betting might help sort the rest out, with Off The Bench and The Dragon King a couple of the more likely types on paper.
The market should be highly informative. Amo Racing's 2yos usually hit the ground running and OFF THE BENCH gets a tentative vote.

2nd (11) (12/1 +76%) Firefly Lane |
12/1(+76%) | (11) Firefly Lane 12/1, Winning pointer but has achieved little so far under Rules and looks up against it from out of the weights. Won a point but rules form is poor and has a lot to prove over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (14/1 +0%) Sevenofus |
14/1(+0%) | (10) Sevenofus 14/1, Point winner who was placed in a series of handicap hurdles at around 2½m in 2022 and all the better for belated return when runner-up here (18.2f) on chase bow. Not in same form at Wincanton since but ground might have been too testing. Soft no good last time and granted goodish ground she's a player on peak form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 -14%) Our Nel |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Our Nel 4/1, Made the frame all 3 starts over hurdles and positive start in this sphere when third in a 7-runner Fakenham handicap (21.2f, heavy) in December. Showed promise before her departure under an inefficient ride here since so worth another chance. Beaten when falling here last time but previous Fakenham third brings her into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 -11%) Cooleenymore |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Cooleenymore 10/3, Made the frame in all 5 of her handicap hurdle runs and no reason why she shouldn't take to this sphere (placed in points in Ireland). Respected. Consistent maiden hurdler and on pedigree should be as good over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (40/1 -186%) Lady Pacifico |
40/1(-186%) | (6) Lady Pacifico 40/1, Flat/hurdles winner who made a decent start for this stable when third of 8 in 22.5f Leicester on chase bow in November. Ran badly back over hurdles since, however. 3m1f too far hurdling last time; had previously made an encouraging chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (9/2 +78%) Poet's Reflection |
9/2(+78%) | (9) Poet's Reflection 9/2, Placed twice off higher marks than this over fences last spring and she stepped up on her reappearance spin over hurdles when fourth here (18,2f) last month. Well held at Wincanton since, however. Poor strike-rate and needs a revival, but drying conditions are in her favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (25/1 -257%) Penny Mallow |
25/1(-257%) | (5) Penny Mallow 25/1, Bumper/hurdles winner but well below that level in 7 starts over fences so far. Assessor continues to relinquish his grip but percentage call is to look elsewhere. Stable having plenty of winners but this mare needs to pull her socks up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (11/2 -38%) Come On Du Berlais |
11/2(-38%) | (2) Come On Du Berlais 11/2, Bumper winner in 2022 for Gordon Elliott. Failed to win from 10 attempts over hurdles but not disgraced sent chasing went third at Ludlow last month so not taken lightly with headgear now applied. Placed a few times over hurdles; third on chase debut and now goes in cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (16/1 +52%) Nathan Walker |
16/1(+52%) | (8) Nathan Walker 16/1, Poor maiden hurdler who offered little sent chasing when a remote fourth of six at Plumpton in January. Hard to make a case for. Modest maiden who was beaten a distance on her switch to fences two months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (18/1 -125%) Jane Du Berlais |
18/1(-125%) | (1) Jane Du Berlais 18/1, Made her first completed start over hurdles a successful one at Lingfield in December 2022 but has failed to complete on her last 5 outings, including over fences. This a big drop in class at least. Has failed to complete in her last five appearances, the last twice over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
COOLEENYMORE has been performing with credit in defeat over hurdles of late and she makes plenty of appeal on her chasing debut. Robert Walford's mare boasts a pointing background and this looks a suitable opportunity for the eight-year-old to get off the mark. A case can also be made for Come On Du Berlais, who should have learnt plenty from her third-placed fencing bow at Ludlow last month. Our Nel and Lady Pacifico also have the ability to figure in the finish.
OUR NEL is worth another chance to build on her chase debut promise having been given an inefficient ride before falling here 7 weeks ago. Come On Du Berlais made a decent start to her chase career when third at Ludlow so is another to consider, while Sevenofus can bounce back returned to better ground.
This may go to COME ON DU BERLAIS who moved well for a long way at Ludlow when third to a well-handicapped winner.

1st (5) (2/1 +50%) Notforalongtime |
2/1(+50%) | (5) Notforalongtime 2/1, Fair gelding. C&D winner. Latest win here in December. 4/1, fifth of 12 in claimer at this course (8f) 39 days ago. This isn't as competitive and he's considered. Won over C&D in this grade in December; solid runs in defeat since; a player again. |

2nd (9) (25/1 +0%) Roderick |
25/1(+0%) | (9) Roderick 25/1, Below form sixth of 14 in claimer at this course (10.7f, 80/1) 11 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Beaten 10l in this grade over 1m2f last time; this trip suits better and cheekpieces added. |

3rd (10) (5/2 +25%) Tai Sing Yeh |
5/2(+25%) | (10) Tai Sing Yeh 5/2, Fairly useful gelding. 5-time course winner. First run since leaving James McAuley when third of 11 in claimer at this course (6f, 7/1) 25 days ago. 6f here probably his trip but decent chance on these terms. Fine run over 6f in this grade last time but stays this trip; big chance at these weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/5 +40%) Gobi Star |
9/5(+40%) | (2) Gobi Star 9/5, Fairly useful gelding. Visored for 1st time, first run since leaving Patrick Martin when below form fourth of 11 in claimer (11/4) at this course (6f) 25 days ago, not clear run and returned lame. Reported to be lame after good run last time but if back to his best has a big shout. |

5th (7) (16/1 +20%) Cherry Pink |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Cherry Pink 16/1, Maiden who ran respectably when fifth of 14 in handicap at this course (8f) 74 days ago, ridden 2f out and no extra last ½f. Not discounted. Several respectable runs including here but has plenty to find on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (14/1 +13%) Bright Start |
14/1(+13%) | (8) Bright Start 14/1, Fair gelding. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Below form fifth of 14 in claimer (18/1) at this course (10.7f) 11 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Became regressive for Godolphin and no better in two starts for this yard. |

7th (4) (150/1 -355%) Attrazione |
150/1(-355%) | (4) Attrazione 150/1, Modest filly. Off 7 months. Hard to fancy on return. Was well beaten in two starts for this yard last summer and others are preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The form of NOTFORALONGTIME's last three runs over 7f in Dundalk reads '212' and the two defeats came by just a neck. A line can be put through his latest outing when fifth over 1m as he suffered a less than clear run inside the final furlong. Gobi Star is the highest-rated horse in this contest. He kept on well to be beaten less than a length into fourth in a 6f claimer at this venue at the start of the month and he won twice over this trip in November. The 10-year-old Tai Sing Yeh was a place, and a short head, in front of Gobi Star in third in that aforementioned claimer. He is more than capable of getting involved. It is more than seven years, though, that he won over this trip on an all-weather surface. Money for the once-raced Tipsy Scholars would be more than interesting, while Miqdaad isn't out of it.
NOTFORALONGTIME remains in good form, not disgraced in a stronger claimer here last time, and gets the vote over Tai Sing Yeh and Gobi Star.
Though GOBI STAR was found to be lame when just behind Tai Sing Yeh over 6f last time, he can reverse that form.

16/1(-33%) | (5) Clovis Boy 16/1, Stepped up on encouraging reappearance/handicap debut when opening his account over 2½m at Hexham in November. Proved he stays this far when fourth of 10 off this mark at Wetherby on penultimate start but needs to bounce back following a tame effort at Ayr 17 days ago. Cheekpieces applied. Hexham winner (2m4f) in November; nasty tumble next time & low-key since; cheekpieces on.. |

2nd (7) (4/1 -14%) Glory Hights |
4/1(-14%) | (7) Glory Hights 4/1, Upped his game switched to handicap company at this course in January, going close over 20.2f prior to finishing a decent third tried over 2¾m next time (re-opposing Scalloway Bay 10 lengths back in fourth). Mark unchanged and should make his presence felt. Jumped final hurdle in front and seemingly in control in recent voided race here (2m4f).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/11 +55%) Rivers Corner |
10/11(+55%) | (2) Rivers Corner 10/11, Seemingly well suited by moving up in trip when scoring by 23 lengths over 3m at Wincanton (heavy) last month. Proved that that was no flash in the pan when following up off 10 lb higher ar Taunton 12 days later and, though up another 10 lb, he has to be feared in his hat-trick bid. On a roll posting back-to-back wins at Wincanton & Taunton (both franked); tough to beat.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/1 -11%) Scalloway Bay |
10/1(-11%) | (6) Scalloway Bay 10/1, Better efforts switched to handicaps here the last twice, latterly coming home in fourth in an 11-runner contest upped to 2¾m (heavy). Needs to sharpen up in the jumping department but he still has low mileage and is one to consider off a 1 lb lower mark. Newcastle regular; consistent (not necessarily progressive) but well worth a try over 3m.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 -20%) Phil De Pail |
9/1(-20%) | (1) Phil De Pail 9/1, Fair bumper performer and similar form over hurdles without tasting success during 2021/22 season. Beaten a fair way on return/first run following a wind op at Bangor (23.2f, heavy) but he's entitled to come on a good deal for that (first run for best of 2 years) and now tried in blinkers. Well-beaten third on Bangor comeback (2m7f, heavy); 2lb lower in newly applied blinkers.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -200%) Adveram |
12/1(-200%) | (4) Adveram 12/1, Stepped up on when he showed in bumpers and initially in this sphere when second in a 7-runner Ayr maiden (19.5f, heavy) last month. That wasn't a deep race by any means but this 5-y-o looks open to improvement now faced with a stiffer test on this handicap debut. Runner-up to odds-on favourite at Ayr (2m3f, maiden) latest; interesting handicap debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (9/1 +10%) Askmore |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Askmore 9/1, Successful in points and fair second on hurdles debut at Carlisle (19.3f, heavy) in December. Little impact in 2 subsequent starts but pedigree suggests that this stiffer test will be in his favour and may do better now pitched into a handicap. Point winner (3m); failed to kick on from initial positive Carlisle hurdles effort (2m3f).. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (40/1 -150%) Cave Hill |
40/1(-150%) | (8) Cave Hill 40/1, First sign of ability when third in the Ayr mauden won by Bleu D'enfer last month, finishing 12 lengths adrift of the re-opposing runner-up Adveram. 11 lb better off with his stablemate on this handicap debut but couldn't be sure that this step up in trip is what he wants. Better when third (Adveram second) at Ayr last month; bred to stay 3m; others preferred.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Rivers Corner is sure to prove popular having completed a quickfire double at Taunton last month. However, a further 10lb rise in the ratings could be enough to thwart the Syd Hosie-trained gelding, with CLOVIS BOY making most appeal. Although the five-year-old will need to dispel his latest effort when pulling up at Ayr, first-time cheekpieces look just the aid to spark his interest. Scalloway Bay should relish this stiff stamina test and is a viable alternative to the selection.
Now upped in trip and switched to handicap company, ADVERAM could be about to sprout wings having shown more encouraging signs when chasing home an odds-on shot in a maiden at Ayr. Scalloway Bay was behind Glory Hights here at the end of January but he did well under the circumstances that day and may well emerge as the main danger to Adveram now faced with an even stiffer test. The hat-trick seeking Rivers Corner has to enter calculations, too.
The long-distance traveller RIVERS CORNER offers the solution to the finale. Syd Hosie's hat-trick seeker boasts rock-solid form lines.

11th (11) (80/1 -900%) Ludberg |
80/1(-900%) | (11) Ludberg 80/1, Poor maiden. Visored for 1st time, good 4 lengths second of 5 to So Obsessed in handicap (9/1) at Chelmsford City (5f) 17 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Brushed aside by So Obsessed at Chelmsford (5f); headgear tweak & better terms not enough.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
So Obsessed showed huge improvement on only her second handicap start to score by four lengths at Chelmsford and she holds an obvious chance off a 5lb higher rating. However, a chance can be taken on CLOUD KING, who hasn't lived up to his expensive price tag in three starts so far, but has now been gelded. Considering the big prices he was sent off for two of those appearances, it's possible he has been brought along slowly and a mark of 61 could be lenient judged on his pedigree. Mariamne is another to consider.
SO OBSESSED justified strong support in emphatic fashion at Chelmsford earlier this month, proving well suited by the drop to 5f (free-going sort), and a 5 lb rise underestimates her. Cloud King hinted at ability as a 2-y-o so may do better in handicaps this season, while Smooth Silesie is respected back down in class.
A race which lacks strength in depth, so the recent Chelmsford scorer SO OBSESSED shouldn't be unduly troubled by a 5lb rise.

|F| (11) (9/4 -20%) Oakley's Way |
9/4(-20%) | (11) Oakley's Way 9/4, Promising third of 9 in bumper at Wincanton (15.2f, heavy, 15/8) on NH debut in December, running green. This son of Walk In The Park is a half-brother to top-class 2m chaser Special Tiara and rates a player. Beaten favourite but still displayed significant promise when third on Wincanton debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Oakley's Way posted a solid third on his debut at Wincanton in December and Anthony Honeyball's charge sets a fair standard to aim at. However, 65,000-euro newcomer BRIDIE'S BEAU is the first foal out of Grade 2 hurdle winner Jessber's Dream and he could have too much class for these rivals. I Play County has offered enough in two appearances under Rules to suggest that he can play a hand in the finish as well.
The market should reveal plenty but Anthony Honeyball's OAKLEY'S WAY shaped well when a debut third at Wincanton and this half-brother to the top-class 2m chaser Special Tiara can build on it and come out on top. Paul Nicholls saddles two interesting newcomers though in the shape of Bridie's Beau and Super Saint and they command plenty of respect along with fellow debutants Shady Wadey and Rowdy.
Placed in what has turned out to be a fairly good junior bumper at Wincanton in December, OAKLEY'S WAY gets the verdict here.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CLEVER CURRENCY could go well over this staying trip. He put in a good shift off the front in a handicap hurdle at Leopardstown before he was collared approaching the last. A mark of 49 on the Flat ought to be within his compass. He hasn't raced often in Dundalk but, on his last visit, he was a close second over 1m4f in November. Gains Of War was driven home by Nathan Crosse at 66/1 over C&D in January. The duo won't be anywhere near that price and certainly have a shot at following up off 6lb higher. That was a slowly-run race and the form hasn't really worked out, but he is a raw sort open to improvement. Blinkers saw Figurehead finish third over C&D last month and they are retained, so he has to enter calculations. Lucky Question tries a new trip and is another to consider.
CLEVER CURRENCY returned to form over hurdles last time and is potentially on a good mark back on the Flat. Figurehead and Lucky Question head the dangers.
A chance is taken on TOM THE PLASTERER. He has been keeping on over 1m4f lately and the step-up in trip could unlock improvement

14/1(-17%) | (4) Raagi 14/1, 30,000 gns yearling, Wootton Bassett colt. Half-brother to useful winner up to 6.5f Drole de Dame. It will be interesting to see what the market has to say, for all that his yard's newcomers usually come on for a run. 30,000gns yearling; might be better for the run but has a useful pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (6/4 +45%) Zariela |

This step back up in trip will be no bad thing and she should be in the mix. Prominent in both 2yo starts, at 7f and 6f; acts on Tapeta and ready for another go at 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (25/1 +62%) Jimmy Knocker |
25/1(+62%) | (8) Jimmy Knocker 25/1, €12,000 yearling, James Garfield colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 1m-1¼m winner Irv and 1m/8.6f winner Mr Fustic. Entitled to come on for the run. 12,000euros yearling; lack of experience likely to catch him out on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (50/1 -52%) Daylight Ransom |
50/1(-52%) | (6) Daylight Ransom 50/1, Thrice-raced gelding. 250/1, tenth of 12 in minor event at Kempton (7f), not ideally placed. Off 6 months ahead of this debut for new yard. Signs of ability in the 2nd of 3 starts for previous yard; destined for handicaps soon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Kindest Nation was far from disgraced when fifth on her debut at Newcastle and she will have learned a great deal from that experience, so it would be no surprise to see her go close with Oisin Murphy booked. However, the vote goes to GOD BLESS AMERICA, who shaped with huge promise on his first start when filling the runner-up spot over a mile here last month. Eve Johnson Houghton's three-year-old could have plenty more to offer and looks the one to beat. Any market support for Raagi should be noted.
This represents a good opportunity for ZARIELA to deservedly shed her maiden tag having performed with credit on each of her five starts last season. Kindest Nation will be more street-wise following her debut spin at Newcastle and she is next on the list, albeit only marginally as Cerulean Summer also holds solid claims. God Bless America is not without an each-way chance and Raagi could be the pick of the newcomers.
Zariela is respected but lacks Tapeta experience. Perhaps CERULEAN SUMMER can prove another success story for an up-and-coming yard.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Adrian Murray saddled the winner of the first juvenile race of the new Flat season in the Curragh last Monday and could enjoy another two-year-old winner through CHARANDA. This Ardad filly was scratched from that Curragh contest, but has to be of interest as a half-sister to a Listed winner. Michael O'Callaghan often has a speedy juvenile in the early part of the season and Morning Vietnam is related to a couple of winners. Colin Keane has been booked which is a positive indicator to his chance. Jessica Harrington's Profitable filly Some Like It Hot is well worth a market check and similar sentiments apply to Jack Davison's Glascarn Pearl.
The betting will be revealing, with CHARANDA, Some Like It Hot and Morning Vietnam the three most likely winners on paper.
Adrian Murray's team laid down a marker with the first juvenile winner of the season and CHARANDA may keep up the good work

Minor appeal on paper; likely he'll prove a longer-term prospect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Despite showing plenty of inexperience on her debut, ASINARA was still only denied by a short head at Kempton earlier in the month. Charlie Hills' filly should have any amount of improvement to come and can get off the mark at the second time of asking. Duke Wellington has finished third on both starts to date, including over track and trip last time, and he shouldn't be too far away. Mickley is another to consider on his return.
ASINARA produced a promising first effort when just failing at Kempton earlier this month, doing well under the circumstances given her inexperience and the ground she made up, and this is an excellent opportunity for her to go one better. Mickley really took the eye with his finishing effort when third at Redcar in the autumn and is the obvious threat, with Duke Wellington best of the others.
Mickley is greatly respected but ASINARA may improve past him now she has had the benefit of a run.

A 155,000-pound Tattersalls yearling purchase, GLENEAGLE BAY won't have to be a star to take this on his belated debut. The Joseph O'Brien-trained four-year-old is a half-brother to Nahaarr, who won the Ayr Gold Cup in 2020, going down by just in neck in the Group 2 Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes the following year. Third on her two starts to date, Agia is sure to prove popular with punters. A beaten favourite when last seen in August, she might be a different proposition now after a winter break. State Actor is out of a half-sister to 2013 Dewhurst winner War Command. An eye-catching third on debut over the course and distance in December, it will come as no surprise if he manages to go a few places better here. Expound and Quantum Light are rated 71 and 69 respectively and are both capable of making an impact.
There is more to come from AGIA over a mile if all is well and she can make a successful return. Gleneagle Bay makes a belated debut for Joseph O'Brien and must be of interest. State Actor has place claims.
Third on both starts at this track last season, AGIA has had plenty of time to mature and could be hard to beat

8/1(-14%) | (4) Waiting All Night 8/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Fourth of 6 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good, 7/2), needing stiffer test. Off 7 months. Others preferred. No win since debut but pick of 2023 form gives him claims; returns with yard going well. |

6th (2) (17/2 -209%) Mobashr |
17/2(-209%) | (2) Mobashr 17/2, Back on the scoreboard at Doncaster (7f) in July and acquitted himself well in defeat thereafter, left poorly placed when fifth in Ascot handicap on latest outing in September. Shortlisted. Capable but often a hostage to fortune; too much ability to discount at this level. |

7th (6) (10/3 +45%) Star Zinc |
10/3(+45%) | (6) Star Zinc 10/3, Course winner. Latest win at Newcastle in February. Ninth of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 9/2) 23 days ago. Not taken lightly. Needs to bounce back from a lesser run last time but dropping in class should help. |

8th (5) (10/1 -43%) Visibility |
10/1(-43%) | (5) Visibility 10/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 20 runs last year. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap (6/1) at this course (8.1f) 6 days ago. Respected. Conditions to suit but he's creeping up the weights and could prove vulnerable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Chola Empire produced a pair of runner-up efforts at Chelmsford last month, including in this grade last time, and he is likely to be thereabouts off an unchanged mark. However, he could come out second best to DAWN OF LIBERATION, who made a pleasing start for the Ruth Carr yard when third at Newcastle. The five-year-old was returning from a 159-day break that day and now takes a drop in grade off 1lb lower. Mobashr is another to consider.
DAWN OF LIBERATION made an encouraging start for new connections at Newcastle earlier this month and should be straighter for that run. He gets the nod in a tricky-looking contest. Chola Empire and Mobashr are feared most.
Star Zinc is better than he showed last time but perhaps MOBASHR is worth chancing on his seasonal return.

Worth considering in an open-looking contest. Two 6f AW wins in Britain, two recent C&D runs have been respectable, needs to improve. |

11th (14) (17/2 -31%) Soyounique |
17/2(-31%) | (14) Soyounique 17/2, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. Creditable fourth of 14 in handicap (5/1) at this course (7f) 32 days ago. Not out of things with a repeat. Five wins in Britain, 0-15 in Ireland but ran creditably in two races here last month. |

Subsequent break needs to have had positive effect ahead of this. Six-time winner (four on AW), well held by Nibras Rainbow on running here in December. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Beaten exactly half a length into second on three of his last four starts over the course and distance, NIBRAS RAINBOW would be a deserving winner. Twice successful when trained in the UK, the four-year-old was second to a stable companion on his most recent outing and had the reopposing Marks Bear in behind. Bungle Inthedesert caught the eye when filling the runner-up spot on Friday and the John McConnell-trained bay is given second preference. Likely to be suited by this step up in trip to a mile, it'll be disappointing if he is not involved towards the business end. Successful over the course and distance in January, Roman Palace is sure to prove popular with punters. Upped 6lb for that win, she could well defy the handicapper off her revised mark of 55. The aforementioned Marks Bear, Ciaran Murphy's Soyounique and six-time course winner Whatharm are others for the shortlist in this competitive affair.
NIBRAS RAINBOW quickly dispelled a lesser effort when runner-up in a C&D handicap 11 days ago and he looks sure to go well again operating from the same mark. Marks Bear, Roman Palace and Bungle Inthedesert are a trio of others to consider in an open-looking handicap.
Second in three of his last four races at this venue NIBRAS RAINBOW does not need to improve much to get a winning turn

16/1(-129%) | (10) Soul Singer 16/1, Found improvement when close second of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 9/1) 8 days ago. Can race off same mark here and is not taken lightly. Improved effort when second at Newcastle last week (6f); could still have more to come. |

May have more to offer yet. Improved when second on recent seasonal/handicap debut (6f, Polytrack); can rate higher. |

5/1(-25%) | (8) Wrestling Revenue 5/1, Sixth of 9 in handicap (17/2) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 50 days ago, left poorly placed. Still looking for first success. Shaped with more promise at Lingfield (7f) last time; Rossa Ryan retains ride; interesting. |

5th (5) (13/2 -95%) Bint Havana Gold |
13/2(-95%) | (5) Bint Havana Gold 13/2, Much improved since sent handicapping, scoring at Kempton (6f) and Wolverhampton (6.1f) either side of a good second over the minimum trip at this course. Remains feasibly treated and holds strong claims. Progressive in 6f AW handicaps; still has more to come and her yard is thriving. |

6th (2) (11/2 +61%) Give It Up |
11/2(+61%) | (2) Give It Up 11/2, Unreliable sort. 17/2 and blinkered for 1st time, eighth of 12 in minor event at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 7 days ago. Others more persuasive. Not progressing and pulled too hard in new blinkers last week; others have more potential. |

7th (4) (9/2 +25%) Better |
9/2(+25%) | (4) Better 9/2, Lightly-raced winner. Respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 3/1) 42 days ago. Back up in trip. Tongue strap on 1st time. Needs a couple of these to falter. Improved for switch to handicaps and going back up in trip should suit; now tongue tied. |

9th (3) (10/1 -33%) Unico |
10/1(-33%) | (3) Unico 10/1, Lightly-raced winner. 7/2, respectable third of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 22 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Others look better treated. Perhaps sharper with her return behind her but headgear needs to have a positive effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (40/1 -433%) Please Please Me |
40/1(-433%) | (7) Please Please Me 40/1, Lightly-raced winner. 9/1, career best when winning 5-runner minor event at this course (5f) 28 days ago. Back up in trip. More required on switch to handicapping. Made all in a 5f novice here last month; 8lb rise for that looks stiff; needs more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BINT HAVANA GOLD is progressing well and with her yard firing on all cylinders on the all-weather lately, Richard Hughes' filly heads the shortlist. She has thrived, with two wins from three starts, since reverting to sprinting and going handicapping, and off just 3lb higher than when scoring over this trip at Wolverhampton, is hard to oppose. Unico is feared most with first-time cheekpieces added, although The Real Mckay is not ruled out having been nudged up 1lb for a C&D second.
BINT HAVANA GOLD has struck up a good relationship with Ethan Jones and is fancied to land her third handicap of the year. Soul Singer and Chiedozie head the list of dangers.
The Real McKay went close here on her handicap debut and is feared but BINT HAVANA GOLD (nap) can continue her yard's hot streak.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SUITYOURSELFBOSS ran a cracker to finish third in first time cheekpieces over the course and distance in January, and she showed that was no flash in the pan by filling the runner-up berth on her most recent start. The Red Jazz five-year-old has clearly improved for the addition of cheekpieces and she looks the one to beat here with Wayne Hassett claiming a valuable 7lb. John McConnell is well represented in this 14-runner affair, saddling Zahee, Double Martini and Cousin Shay. All three have solid claims, with the latter successful on his penultimate start, beating the reopposing Zero Fighter by just a head. While disappointing on her debut for Thomas Coyle, top-weight Lakewood remains of interest. Fifth to subsequent Epsom Oaks winner Tuesday in a Naas maiden back in 2022, she drops in trip here to a mile and should be able to make an impact in a contest of this quality.
BLUE WOOD is 1 lb below the mark off which he opened his account here last spring and is appealing on the back of a very encouraging reappearance third on debut for this yard in February. Suityourselfboss has acquitted herself well in a couple of C&D handicaps since the turn of the year and she is second choice. Maid To Shine is best of the rest.
Placed at big prices on her last two runs at this venue, SUITYOURSELFBOSS has solid claims to suggest she can open her account

66/1(-230%) | (7) Shotley Royale 66/1, Last of 8 in handicap (40/1) at Newcastle (8f) 18 days ago. Others appeal more. Six-race maiden; has failed to beat a rival in his last three starts (6f-1m).. |

28/1(-75%) | (11) The Lion Strikes 28/1, Poor gelding. 66/1 and blinkered for 1st time, good fifth of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 15 days ago. Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs, though. 16-race maiden; three places behind Storm Asset in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton.. |

11th (6) (22/1 -10%) Scarriff |
22/1(-10%) | (6) Scarriff 22/1, 5/1, below form sixth of 15 in handicap at Cork (8f, good), finding less than looked likely. Off 18 months. Makes tapeta/yard debut with her fitness to prove. Last in competitive action at Cork (sixth) in September 2022; first go for Rebecca Menzies. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
STORM ASSET arguably set sail for home a fraction too early when he was overhauled in the closing stages over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton, and can make amends over this shorter distance. Inexplicable is highly effective at this sort of level and having edged out Fanzone to land a similar race over this trip at Newcastle last week, he is taken to cement his authority over that rival and give the selection the most to think about here.
STORM ASSET signalled he is ready to strike again when a recent runner-up at Wolverhampton and can go one better now on these favourable terms. Fanzone also found just one too good on his latest start at Newcastle and rates the chief threat ahead of in-form duo Broughtons Flame and Inexplicable.
Inexplicable was always holding Fanzone at Newcastle last week, but STORM ASSET rates as the pick with Rossa Ryan aboard.

11/10(+56%) | (1) Agenda 11/10, Promising type. Third of 17 in maiden (17/2) at the Curragh (7f, soft) on debut/sole start at 2 yrs. Will improve for this step up in trip and he's a leading contender. Third behind a pair of stablemates in a 7f Curragh maiden last October; a major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/4 -38%) Huxley |
11/4(-38%) | (5) Huxley 11/4, Promising type. Clear second of 9 in maiden at this course (8f, 3/1) when last seen 7 months ago. Significantly up in trip and may well go one better this time. Good maiden runs behind classy rivals last year; repeating that form will see him go close. |

3rd (7) (3/1 +0%) Sea The Polaris |
3/1(+0%) | (7) Sea The Polaris 3/1, Twice-raced colt. 5/4, fourth of 8 in maiden at Tipperary (9f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Will be a danger to all if settling better here. A bit too keen on second run last year but still a decent run; solid shout; yard in form. |

4th (4) (50/1 -52%) Highland Bling |
50/1(-52%) | (4) Highland Bling 50/1, €22,000 yearling, Highland Reel gelding. Half-brother to 1½m winner Curious Bride and 2-y-o 7f winner Rolling The Dice. Dam unraced half-sister to Nassau Stakes winner Winsili. One to note in the betting. Cost 22,000euros as a yearling; will have to be smart to take this on debut. |

66/1(-65%) | (2) Apache War 66/1, Once-raced colt. 50/1, fourth of 9 in maiden at this C&D on debut 25 days ago. Probably more of a handicapping prospect. Yard also saddles newcomers Take Profit and Taste of The Sea. Showed ability on debut in a C&D maiden earlier this month; can improve from that. |

6th (8) (18/1 -64%) Street Mentor |
18/1(-64%) | (8) Street Mentor 18/1, Once-raced gelding. 11/2 and tongue strap on, second of 9 in maiden at this C&D on debut 25 days ago, no match for winner. Likely to improve. Should have improved from C&D debut; yard had a big-race winner at Naas Sunday; run well. |

7th (6) (18/1 -29%) Meteor Storm |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Meteor Storm 18/1, Twice-raced gelding. Seventh of 14 in maiden at this course (8f, 40/1). Off 137 days. Significantly up in trip. Gelded. Beaten 8l over 1m here second start but needs loads more against some of these rivals. |

8th (3) (12/1 +0%) Fine Point |
12/1(+0%) | (3) Fine Point 12/1, Twice-raced gelding. 16/1, fourth of 20 in maiden at the Curragh (8f, heavy). Off 142 days. Significantly up in trip and will probably find one or two too good. Ran to a similar level in two 1m maidens last autumn; needs to improve to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (150/1 -50%) Taste Of The Sea |
150/1(-50%) | (10) Taste Of The Sea 150/1, Raa Atoll filly. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to 6f-1m winner Hills And Dales and 2-y-o 6f winner (stayed 1m) Perfect Madge (both useful). Probably best watched on debut. Will have to be very smart to beat these on debut and best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
AGENDA was putting in his best work at the finish when a promising third on debut behind two better fancied stablemates over seven furlongs at the Curragh last autumn. The Galileo colt can be expected to progress from that experience and should be suited by this sounder surface and the step up in trip. Huxley won't lack for experience having shown promise in Curragh maidens including behind City Of Troy and was clear of the remainder when runner-up to subsequent Group 2-placed Capulet here over a mile. Sea The Polaris also showed promise last year despite racing keenly on both starts, while Street Mentor had fellow newcomer Apache War behind when beating all bar hot-pot Cow Chico over C&D earlier this month.
The vote goes to HUXLEY, who pulled clear of the rest when second to Capulet (placed twice in Group 2 company since) over a mile here on his final 2-y-o start. This step up in trip will be right up his street and an entry in the Irish Derby suggests that connections have high hopes for this Galileo colt. Agenda, who shares the same sire and big-race entry as Huxley, is an obvious threat on the back of his promising debut in October, while Sea The Polaris and Street Mentor are others to consider.
HUXLEY has compelling form claims, having run behind classy sorts last year, including at this track, and he is the selection.

10th (3) (10/1 -54%) Duisker |
10/1(-54%) | (3) Duisker 10/1, Modest filly. 7/2, only sixth of 8 to Copper Mountain in minor event at this C&D 61 days ago so needs to bounce back. Runner-up at Wolverhampton (penultimate start); well beaten by Copper Mountain since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (14/1 -115%) Spring Romance |
14/1(-115%) | (9) Spring Romance 14/1, Course winner but he came in only sixth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 15 days ago. Visor refitted and can make his presence felt if back on his A-game. No win since March 2021 (6f); gone off the boil in recent starts; headgear yet to deliver.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
VAN ZANT went down by just a neck when tried in cheekpieces again in a C&D handicap last week and, with the headgear retained, the Ruth Carr-trained gelding is a solid option now making a quick return to classified company. Copper Mountain, an old rival of the selection's, cannot be ruled out at this sort of level, while Hawajes and Kodebreaker are both capable of being on the premises if on a going day.
HAWAJES rates the pick at these weights so Tony Carroll's recent course scorer looks the way to go. Van Zant must enter calculatuons on the back of a good C&D second last time out, while C&D scorers Copper Mountain and Kodebreaker warrant plenty of respect too.
The safest option is probably COPPER MOUNTAIN who is reasonably proficient at getting the job done when competing at this lowly level.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ALPHONSE LE GRANDE won over the extended ten furlongs here for Ray Cody off a similar mark and indicated another victory could be on the horizon when beaten less than two lengths behind Neddies Boy over C&D last month. The fourth, Darkened, gave that form a timely boost when successful here last Friday. Gracesolution has been placed on her latest two starts behind Noble Crusade over this trip in February and is one for the shortlist along with Golden Sandbanks. The top-weight has proved a grand dual-purpose gelding winning seven times and gained a second C&D success on his latest outing in November. Believe In Science is another to consider having finished third here just before Christmas.
GRACESOLUTION is on a lengthy losing run but looks weighted to go close able to race off the same mark as when a good recent C&D third so edges the vote. Both Alphonse Le Grande and Golden Sandbanks have winning form here so rate the main dangers and can chase home Paul Flynn's 7-y-o in that order. Believe In Science completes the shortlist.
GRACESOLUTION is a fair yardstick and she has run well against a revitalised rival the last twice, so could get a deserved win
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
