1st (2) (15/2 +38%) No No Tonic |
15/2(+38%) | (2) No No Tonic 15/2, Dual winner last term and a couple of solid placed efforts this season, including over C&D. Not so good the last twice, though. Has had a wind op. Major player if judged on autumn form but not at best on last couple of outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (14/1 -17%) Iris Des Issards |
14/1(-17%) | (7) Iris Des Issards 14/1, Player on the form of his second in 17f Exeter maiden in December but he made a rather low-key start to life in handicaps at Hereford 6 weeks ago. No better than respectable fifth of eight on last month's handicap debut; needs to step up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/2 +63%) Winterwatch |
9/2(+63%) | (5) Winterwatch 9/2, Three-time winner on the Flat and bubbling under in this sphere. This longer trip will suit and he's one to note. Only beaten about 10l in two 2m handicaps here this year but needs to find something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (80/1 -60%) Iron Heart |
80/1(-60%) | (12) Iron Heart 80/1, Fair hurdles winner over C&D but he's been out of form since a promising start over fences for this yard in September. New headgear. Second in a chase on stable debut but three heavy defeats have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (17/2 +66%) Halligator |
17/2(+66%) | (9) Halligator 17/2, Made a winning start over hurdles in a Uttoxeter maiden in June 2022 and runner-up next 2 starts. Lightly raced subsequently and disappointing the last twice 3 months apart. Tricky to fancy. Still quite lightly raced but has become disappointing; down the field here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (20/1 +0%) A Mere Bagatelle |
20/1(+0%) | (4) A Mere Bagatelle 20/1, Won handicap chase at Kilbeggan over this trip back from a break last summer. Mixed bag since but fresh probably the time to catch him and he's one to consider. Not at best when over fences in the autumn and not obviously well treated over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (22/1 -561%) Pottlerath |
22/1(-561%) | (6) Pottlerath 22/1, Successful 3 times over hurdles during 2022 and sprouted wings over fences at the start of the summer, completing a hat-trick at Bangor. Back from 5 months off over much shorter trip than he usually contests and he might need it. Has fitness to prove after layoff, and seems best at around 3m on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (28/1 -40%) Escobedo |
28/1(-40%) | (13) Escobedo 28/1, Belatedly off the mark over hurdles on final start for Milton Harris at Sedgefield in October (sold for 3,500 gns). Just ticking over on the level of late and others preferred. Placed twice on AW since hurdle win in October but is not very consistent; ground a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (6/1 -9%) Kayf Legend |
6/1(-9%) | (1) Kayf Legend 6/1, Bagged a Stratford bumper at the beginning of last season and struck at the second attempt over hurdles at Lingfield (2m, good). Pulled up in a Kempton Grade 2 when last seen a year ago and this handicap debut represents a far more realistic assignment, while the longer trip will suit, too. Not seen since pulled up in Grade 2 novice in February 2023 but remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (6/1 -20%) Asian Spice |
6/1(-20%) | (11) Asian Spice 6/1, Represents some of the season's strongest low-grade handicap hurdle formlines courtesy of her exploits at Exeter (won twice in November). Struggled in the mud there last time but remains one to be positive about back up in trip with good conditional booked. Won twice in November; not in same form last month but further progress still possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (11/4 -22%) Time To Dazzle |
11/4(-22%) | (8) Time To Dazzle 11/4, From a useful family and has made a good start in handicaps, improving further to land Fontwell event in the mud 6 weeks ago eased down. More to come and leading claims up 8 lb. Stayed on well to win by 8l at Fontwell last month and still has low mileage; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (150/1 -500%) Pak Army |
150/1(-500%) | (3) Pak Army 150/1, Completed a four-timer from the front (second leg on Flat) when seeing off 6 rivals at Stratford in June. Ran no sort of race after 8 months off at Huntingdon recently, though. Stamina to prove and not easy to make a case for. Pulled up on recent debut for owner-trainer and difficult to enthuse over after that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (10) (28/1 -12%) Play By The Rules |
28/1(-12%) | (10) Play By The Rules 28/1, Hasn't fired so far this season but was a decisive winner of C&D handicap on his last visit to Taunton a year ago. Yet to hit top gear this season but won over C&D last year, and drying ground would help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TIME TO DAZZLE had little difficulty in dispatching a subsequent winner when opening his account at Fontwell last month. An 8lb rise in the ratings for Gary Moore's charge looks far from insurmountable and he's taken to double his tally. The biggest threat could emerge from likely front-runner No No Tonic, who races off the same mark as her C&D third in November. Asian Spice and Halligator could also play a prominent role if performing to their best.
TIME TO DAZZLE ran out an easy winner at Fontwell 6 weeks ago and there could be plenty more to come from this good-looking 6-y-o, so he's hard to get away from. Asian Spice remains one to be positive about, while A Mere Bagatelle and Winterwatch are a couple of others to note.
It might be worth chancing the fitness of KAYF LEGEND, who looked very promising when winning a Lingfield novice in February 2023.

1st (9) (8/13 +7%) Ryan's Rocket |
8/13(+7%) | (9) Ryan's Rocket 8/13, £110,000 purchase following an Irish point win. Shaped better than the distance beaten suggests sole outing in bumpers and produced a promising first effort over hurdles when second in a C&D novice in December. Sure to improve and very much the one to beat. Clear second to smart rival over C&D on hurdle debut in December; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) (11/1 +8%) Manuelito |
11/1(+8%) | (13) Manuelito 11/1, Cracksman half-brother to smart hurdler Navajo Pass (2m-2½m winner). Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1¼m) for Richard Hannon who was given a considerate introduction to hurdling when a well-held third at Wincanton 54 days ago. Possibly more one for handicaps later on. Fair Flat-racer; kept on steadily for remote third on stable/hurdle debut at Wincanton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +14%) Diamond Dice |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Diamond Dice 3/1, Showed promise in bumpers and left his hurdling debut form behind when landing a 15-runner maiden at Ludlow (15.8f, heavy) 34 days ago, jumping well and travelling powerfully. Has a penalty to shoulder but likely to progress further. Has penalty for last month's Ludlow win but can still play a major role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (66/1 -560%) El Curamach |
66/1(-560%) | (4) El Curamach 66/1, Hinted at ability when well held in a Chepstow novice hurdle (19.4f, heavy) on debut 108 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Ran well to a point on debut but was well beaten in the end; drops from 2m3f here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (14/1 -100%) Intrepide Sud |
14/1(-100%) | (6) Intrepide Sud 14/1, Fair bumper winner who is bred to do better in this sphere but has a 20-month absence to overcome and Ryan's Rocket appears the stable's first choice on jockey bookings. Won very ordinary Worcester bumper in summer 2022; not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (80/1 -21%) Nobody Told Me |
80/1(-21%) | (14) Nobody Told Me 80/1, Fair handicapper on Flat, stays 13f, below form last 4 starts. Sold from Jedd O'Keeffe for only 8,500 gns in October. Won on the Flat last spring but was in poor form last summer/autumn; stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (250/1 -279%) Katopop |
250/1(-279%) | (7) Katopop 250/1, Runner-up completed start in points but has shown nothing in 2 novice hurdles 10 months apart. Struggled on both hurdling starts last year; look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (80/1 -142%) Pillar Rock |
80/1(-142%) | (8) Pillar Rock 80/1, Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Monviel and French hurdler Wealth. Looks one for handicaps after this. With a good stable but was soundly beaten on his first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (8/1 +20%) Diesel Line |
8/1(+20%) | (3) Diesel Line 8/1, Attracted support and made a winning debut in good style in 9-runner bumper at Exeter in February 2023. However, has been disappointing both starts over hurdles. Quite impressive in a bumper last season but has made disappointing start to hurdle career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (200/1 -203%) Cave Article |
200/1(-203%) | (2) Cave Article 200/1, Runner-up completed start in points but was pulled up in a maiden hurdle at Doncaster on Rules debut and again offered little at Fakenham last time. A well-beaten 80-1 shot on both hurdling starts this year; can only be watched at present. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (300/1 -200%) Telenn D'annain |
300/1(-200%) | (11) Telenn D'annain 300/1, Well held in a brace of bumpers 8 months apart. Showed no significant promise when beaten about 40l in two bumpers; hurdling debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (20/1 +0%) Skin Full |
20/1(+0%) | (10) Skin Full 20/1, €8,000 3-y-o, £82,000 4-y-o, Doyen gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler I Am Spider Man, stays 2¾m, and modest hurdler Maggie O, stays 2½m. Runner-up sole outing in Irish points (Apr 2023). Bought for £82,000 after clear second on Irish point debut last April; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (300/1 -200%) Gentlieman Ross |
300/1(-200%) | (5) Gentlieman Ross 300/1, Swerved and unseated rider first over C&D (soft, 150/1) on debut 15 days ago. Hood quickly reached for. Jinked and unseated rider at first flight when 150-1 for debut here a fortnight ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
RYAN'S ROCKET almost sprang a surprise when a close-up second over track and trip in December. There was plenty of encouragement to be taken from that hurdles bow and the Fergal O'Brien-trained inmate should land the spoils if running to a similar level. Penalised maiden hurdle scorer Diamond Dice must concede 7lb to the selection, but the five-year-old is feared most, ahead of Rules debutant Skin Full, who finished second in his sole point-to-point outing.
RYAN'S ROCKET pulled clear with one verging on useful on his hurdling debut over C&D back in December and should prove hard to beat with improvement forthcoming. Recent Ludlow-scorer Diamond Dice appeals as the one to give him most to think about ahead of stablemate Intrepide Sud.
This is a good opportunity for RYAN'S ROCKET, who pulled nicely clear of the others when second to a smart rival over C&D in December.

1st (8) (9/2 +0%) Tuscan Rose |
9/2(+0%) | (8) Tuscan Rose 9/2, Didn't offer much last season but more encouraging signs from her low base in handicaps in recent months, shaping like a greater test would suit when third at Southwell (20.4f) in January. Shortlisted. 0-7 over hurdles but was placed over 2m4f in January; a possible if this new trip suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/2 -65%) Fortune Forever |
11/2(-65%) | (1) Fortune Forever 11/2, Showed ability in bumpers last season and found just one too good on return/hurdles debut at Warwick in October. Back to that sort of form when fourth of 15 in handicap at Hereford (19.7f, good to soft) last time and looks worth a try at this longer trip. Kept on well for fourth over 2m3f on handicap debut; looks interesting over new trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 -40%) Giulietta |
7/2(-40%) | (6) Giulietta 7/2, Related to some useful performers in these silks and duly improved on her handicap debut when just touched off at Warwick (19f) in November. Something presumably not right when pulled up at Ffos Las in December and she's been given time since. Retains potential for top stable. Struggled on heavy ground last time; better judged on close second on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/2 +63%) Emma Hamilton |
9/2(+63%) | (7) Emma Hamilton 9/2, Well held in maiden/novice hurdles and ran badly on handicap debut at Hereford last month. Bit to prove at present. Beaten about 47l on last month's handicap debut at Hereford; major improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/1 +8%) Spitfire Girl |
11/1(+8%) | (2) Spitfire Girl 11/1, Ended last season with narrow victory (off 2lb lower) over C&D but been a mixed bag since, returning to hurdles latest after chasing campaign seemingly shelved following Hereford fall in December. Perecentage call is to look elsewhere. Won this in 2023 but has lost her way this season; leap of faith required to support her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (10/1 -25%) My Girl Katie |
10/1(-25%) | (4) My Girl Katie 10/1, On a good mark judged on last season's peak hurdles form and took a step back in right direction when sixth of 16 in handicap (10/3) at Hereford (25.5f, soft) 17 days ago. Enters calculations. Managed only sixth when heavily backed at Hereford this month; now 0-9 over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (16/1 -100%) Malina Jamila |
16/1(-100%) | (3) Malina Jamila 16/1, Bumper/hurdles winner but not the most consistent, typically following a solid fourth at Doncaster with a poor effort when last seen at same track in January. Others more persuasive. Ran well in first-time blinkers two starts ago but quickly back in the doldrums last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (12/1 -33%) Shesupincourt |
12/1(-33%) | (5) Shesupincourt 12/1, Dual winner (at up to 23.6f) this term who returned to form when second in Southwell handicap (24.3f) last month. However, ran no sort of race at same course latest and others are more appealing. Dual slow-ground winner in late 2023 but has become very inconsistent; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (9/1 +36%) Sindabella |
9/1(+36%) | (9) Sindabella 9/1, Back to winning ways at Exeter (18.5f) in December but not built on that and finished well held over C&D last time. Won off much reduced mark in December, after a break, but recent form is uninspiring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (40/1 +39%) Miss Harriett |
40/1(+39%) | (10) Miss Harriett 40/1, Long-standing maiden who has offered little in 4 starts following a lengthy absence. Stiff task on her hands from out of the weights. Well beaten on all four appearances this season and now 0-22 over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TUSCAN ROSE has been steadily improving since entering handicaps, as evidenced by her latest third-placed effort at Southwell. This step up to three miles looks sure to suit the daughter of Milan and a breakthrough success could be imminent. Fortune Forever is another potential improver now faced with a stiffer test of stamina and the six-year-old isn't taken lightly, while a 105-day layoff should have freshened up Giulietta, who likely has better days ahead.
GIULIETTA is in good hands and may have been undone by the testing conditions when disappointing at Ffos Las last time. She can open her account. Tuscan Rose and Fortune Forever should also go well.
Preference is for FORTUNE FOREVER, who moves up from 2m3f after an encouraging handicap debut in January.

1st (1) (8/11 +51%) Loup De Maulde |
8/11(+51%) | (1) Loup De Maulde 8/11, Tough and reliable customer scored four times around 3m last year and opened his account over fences in good style at Huntingdon (23.6f) 9 days ago, taking over 3 out and quickening clear. Will take some stopping under a penalty on that evidence. Four-time hurdle winner; scored off lower chase mark last week; respected under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/1 +10%) King Turgeon |
9/1(+10%) | (3) King Turgeon 9/1, Ran well when runner-up on return at Chepstow in November and duly went one place better at Exeter (24.2f, soft) later that month. However, recent efforts not so inspiring, disappointing when fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Fontwell (26f) 6 weeks ago. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Good winner at Exeter in November but form has dipped since; has a point to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/2 -22%) Mortens Leam |
11/2(-22%) | (7) Mortens Leam 11/2, Veteran who has been very lightly raced in recent seasons and, having displayed encouraging sings when second over C&D last month, he duly went one place better at Stratford (22.5f) 2 weeks ago, asserting near the finish. This rates tougher, however. Second over C&D last month and went one better at Stratford a fortnight ago; a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (50/1 -52%) Bbold |
50/1(-52%) | (4) Bbold 50/1, Fairly useful 3m winner at his best and went with zest for a long way (in refitted blinkers) when sixth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (26.5f) in June on final start for Syd Hosie. Absent since and probably best watched on return with headgear discarded. Good-ground specialist; not the force of old and makes stable debut after 273-day layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 +67%) Off To A Flyer |
4/1(+67%) | (5) Off To A Flyer 4/1, Successful over hurdles at Ayr (24.3f) last spring but not kicked on as expected this term, including in trio of starts over fences in recent months, pulled up at Wincanton (20f) in February. Subsequently undergone wind surgery and interesting what the market makes of him with tongue strap applied. Good fourth over hurdles in December; very little has gone to plan in first three chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 -100%) No No Maestro |
14/1(-100%) | (2) No No Maestro 14/1, Built up a good strike rate for this yard and gained fourth success over fences at Uttoxeter (26f) back in June. Absent subsequently but unlikely he'll be lacking for fitness on return and not out of things. Won when last in action but returns from eight-month absence on career-high mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Four of the seven contenders in this contest are last-time-out winners, with slight preference for LOUP DE MAULDE, who recorded a seven-length victory at Huntingdon. Robbie Llewellyn's seven-year-old hadn't been seen in this sphere since June 2022 prior to that success and he is taken to go in again, despite having to shoulder a 7lb penalty. No No Maestro was victorious by a similar margin to the selection over 3m2f at Uttoxeter when last seen in June last year and he could have a say off a 4lb higher mark. Moytier takes a step up in trip and he isn't out of it either.
A much-improved model over hurdles last year, LOUP DE MAULDE transferred the progress shown in that sphere to chasing when running out a comfortable winner at Huntingdon 9 days ago and a bold follow up bid looks on the cards under a penalty. Fellow last-time-out winner's Moytier and Mortens Leam are others fancied to be in the shake up.
There is no strong temptation to oppose LOUP DE MAULDE (nap), who assumed control quite a long way from home at Huntingdon last week.

1st (1) (12/1 -33%) Wolf Prince |
12/1(-33%) | (1) Wolf Prince 12/1, Performed with credit on first 2 starts for this yard in 2022 but missed the whole of last season and hasn't shown much at Doncaster and over this C&D since returning from a lengthy absence. Twice been tailed off after an absence, last time here finishing well behind Celtic Art. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/4 +61%) Toonagh Warrior |
7/4(+61%) | (5) Toonagh Warrior 7/4, Duly built on promising debut for this yard when landing a 2m Wetherby novice in November before going close on handicap bow at Ascot the following month. Not disgraced both subsequent starts and he's a major player. Doing well for his new team and peak efforts make for excellent reading; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/4 +25%) Celtic Art |
9/4(+25%) | (3) Celtic Art 9/4, Scored twice at Wincanton last season and returned to form when landing a 6-runner Lingfield handicap in November. Latest C&D third was a decent effort and, with the drying ground a good thing where this 7-y-o is concerned, he should make his presence felt. Not on a bad mark at all and ran an encouraging third behind an improving novice over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (2/1 +33%) Amelia's Dance |
2/1(+33%) | (4) Amelia's Dance 2/1, Winless since 2022 but she likes it here (3 of her 4 career wins have been gained over C&D) and she's been knocking firmly on the door this season, finding just one too good on 5 of her 6 starts since October. Another bold show on the cards. Tough mark but reliable around here and hard to envisage her not being involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (125/1 -594%) Manor Park |
125/1(-594%) | (2) Manor Park 125/1, Resumed winning ways at Newton Abbot last July but absent since finishing out with the washing in the Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen later that month. Probably best watched starting out for new yard here. Multiple winner but makes stable debut after a lengthy absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
CELTIC ART looks the way to go as the seven-year-old was beaten four lengths into third in this grade over C&D last time and he only has a 1lb higher mark to contend with. It would be no surprise to see him get his head back in front, while Amelia's Dance will be looking to better her second-placed finishes on five of her last six starts. Toonagh Warrior rounds out the shortlist.
Stuart Edmunds has his string in good order and can strike here with TOONAGH WARRIOR, who was just edged out in a strong Ascot handicap in December and he performed with greater credit than his finishing position would suggest at Newbury last time. Amelia's Dance is hard to knock, for all that it's been a while since her latest success, and she is feared most ahead of the hat-trick seeking Hara Kiri and Celtic Art.
A tight handicap. CELTIC ART ran really well behind an improving novice here last time and today's drier surface is in his favour

1st (7) (8/1 -23%) Annie Wicks |
8/1(-23%) | (7) Annie Wicks 8/1, Well held completed starts over hurdles and beaten 28¼ lengths when third of 6 in mares novice handicap at Ffos Las on chasing debut. Kept jumping right at Ffos Las so Taunton may suit better; still has enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (12/1 +76%) Firefly Lane |
12/1(+76%) | (11) Firefly Lane 12/1, Winning pointer but has achieved little so far under Rules and looks up against it from out of the weights. Won a point but rules form is poor and has a lot to prove over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (14/1 +0%) Sevenofus |
14/1(+0%) | (10) Sevenofus 14/1, Point winner who was placed in a series of handicap hurdles at around 2½m in 2022 and all the better for belated return when runner-up here (18.2f) on chase bow. Not in same form at Wincanton since but ground might have been too testing. Soft no good last time and granted goodish ground she's a player on peak form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 -14%) Our Nel |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Our Nel 4/1, Made the frame all 3 starts over hurdles and positive start in this sphere when third in a 7-runner Fakenham handicap (21.2f, heavy) in December. Showed promise before her departure under an inefficient ride here since so worth another chance. Beaten when falling here last time but previous Fakenham third brings her into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 -11%) Cooleenymore |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Cooleenymore 10/3, Made the frame in all 5 of her handicap hurdle runs and no reason why she shouldn't take to this sphere (placed in points in Ireland). Respected. Consistent maiden hurdler and on pedigree should be as good over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (40/1 -186%) Lady Pacifico |
40/1(-186%) | (6) Lady Pacifico 40/1, Flat/hurdles winner who made a decent start for this stable when third of 8 in 22.5f Leicester on chase bow in November. Ran badly back over hurdles since, however. 3m1f too far hurdling last time; had previously made an encouraging chase debut. |

7th (9) (9/2 +78%) Poet's Reflection |
9/2(+78%) | (9) Poet's Reflection 9/2, Placed twice off higher marks than this over fences last spring and she stepped up on her reappearance spin over hurdles when fourth here (18,2f) last month. Well held at Wincanton since, however. Poor strike-rate and needs a revival, but drying conditions are in her favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (25/1 -257%) Penny Mallow |
25/1(-257%) | (5) Penny Mallow 25/1, Bumper/hurdles winner but well below that level in 7 starts over fences so far. Assessor continues to relinquish his grip but percentage call is to look elsewhere. Stable having plenty of winners but this mare needs to pull her socks up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (11/2 -38%) Come On Du Berlais |
11/2(-38%) | (2) Come On Du Berlais 11/2, Bumper winner in 2022 for Gordon Elliott. Failed to win from 10 attempts over hurdles but not disgraced sent chasing went third at Ludlow last month so not taken lightly with headgear now applied. Placed a few times over hurdles; third on chase debut and now goes in cheekpieces. |

|PU| (8) (16/1 +52%) Nathan Walker |
16/1(+52%) | (8) Nathan Walker 16/1, Poor maiden hurdler who offered little sent chasing when a remote fourth of six at Plumpton in January. Hard to make a case for. Modest maiden who was beaten a distance on her switch to fences two months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (18/1 -125%) Jane Du Berlais |
18/1(-125%) | (1) Jane Du Berlais 18/1, Made her first completed start over hurdles a successful one at Lingfield in December 2022 but has failed to complete on her last 5 outings, including over fences. This a big drop in class at least. Has failed to complete in her last five appearances, the last twice over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
COOLEENYMORE has been performing with credit in defeat over hurdles of late and she makes plenty of appeal on her chasing debut. Robert Walford's mare boasts a pointing background and this looks a suitable opportunity for the eight-year-old to get off the mark. A case can also be made for Come On Du Berlais, who should have learnt plenty from her third-placed fencing bow at Ludlow last month. Our Nel and Lady Pacifico also have the ability to figure in the finish.
OUR NEL is worth another chance to build on her chase debut promise having been given an inefficient ride before falling here 7 weeks ago. Come On Du Berlais made a decent start to her chase career when third at Ludlow so is another to consider, while Sevenofus can bounce back returned to better ground.
This may go to COME ON DU BERLAIS who moved well for a long way at Ludlow when third to a well-handicapped winner.

Failed to build on it when well-held third in similar event there since but remains with potential. Shade disappointing at Doncaster last month but made very promising rules debut there. |

Placed in a point in February and in good hands so he needs considering. Remote second in a maiden point last month; improvement needed on this rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (16/1 -146%) Full Monty |
16/1(-146%) | (2) Full Monty 16/1, Promising Westerner gelding who finished fourth of 13 in bumper at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) on NH debut. Off 7 months but likely to improve and worth a market check. Well-held fourth when warm favourite for last summer's debut but might do better here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (125/1 -150%) Golden Moonshake |
125/1(-150%) | (10) Golden Moonshake 125/1, Zoffany gelding. Had a wind op/tongue strap on before coming in fourth of 9 in bumper at this C&D (heavy, 28/1) on NH debut 26 days ago. Needs to build on it. Beaten about 34l when fourth of nine over C&D (soft) on last month's debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (8) (11/1 +67%) Exmoor Plum |
11/1(+67%) | (8) Exmoor Plum 11/1, Mount Nelson mare. Dam ran twice over hurdles. Betting can prove an accurate indicator. Second foal; dam of little account, half-sister to a low-grade hurdle winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (9) (14/1 +79%) O'malley |
14/1(+79%) | (9) O'malley 14/1, Ocovango mare. Closely related to fair hurdler Rocco Royale. Dam unraced sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 23f) Slieveardagh. Others appeal more this time. Closely related to fair hurdler Rocco Royale; considered only if lively in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (11) (9/4 -20%) Oakley's Way |
9/4(-20%) | (11) Oakley's Way 9/4, Promising third of 9 in bumper at Wincanton (15.2f, heavy, 15/8) on NH debut in December, running green. This son of Walk In The Park is a half-brother to top-class 2m chaser Special Tiara and rates a player. Beaten favourite but still displayed significant promise when third on Wincanton debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Oakley's Way posted a solid third on his debut at Wincanton in December and Anthony Honeyball's charge sets a fair standard to aim at. However, 65,000-euro newcomer BRIDIE'S BEAU is the first foal out of Grade 2 hurdle winner Jessber's Dream and he could have too much class for these rivals. I Play County has offered enough in two appearances under Rules to suggest that he can play a hand in the finish as well.
The market should reveal plenty but Anthony Honeyball's OAKLEY'S WAY shaped well when a debut third at Wincanton and this half-brother to the top-class 2m chaser Special Tiara can build on it and come out on top. Paul Nicholls saddles two interesting newcomers though in the shape of Bridie's Beau and Super Saint and they command plenty of respect along with fellow debutants Shady Wadey and Rowdy.
Placed in what has turned out to be a fairly good junior bumper at Wincanton in December, OAKLEY'S WAY gets the verdict here.
Ths is the racecard key.
