1st (1) (2/1 +64%) Masterclass |
2/1(+64%) | (1) Masterclass 2/1, 16/1, below form fourth of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good) 47 days ago, slowly away. Would have every chance if reproducing pick of last season's form off this reduced mark. Brighton maiden winner last summer; struggling for form this year; down in grade today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7.5/1 +53%) Got No Dollars |
7.5/1(+53%) | (5) Got No Dollars 7.5/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 40/1 and visored for 1st time, eighth of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good) 20 days ago. Chance if rediscovering old form but that is no real reason to anticipate a revival. Tongue-tie returns today; yet to match his AW form in four previous turf outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (1.2/1 +47%) Ideal Guest |
1.2/1(+47%) | (3) Ideal Guest 1.2/1, 10/3, good third of 7 in handicap at this course (7f, good) 9 days ago. That was his best effort of the season so far and, though 0-9 here, he has to enter calculations. All wins over 7f but he's shaped as though worth another crack sprinting of late; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4.5/1 -80%) Kodias Sangarius |
4.5/1(-80%) | (2) Kodias Sangarius 4.5/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 5/2, last of 4 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 49 days ago. 0-11 on turf but she has dipped to an attractive mark and, while ground slower than good would pose a question, she is pretty appealing. Has a more solid record on AW but has turf form and she's respected dropped in class. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
FIRST COMPANY kept on for fourth over an extended 5f at Bath last time out and a fractionally stiffer stamina test could work in his favour. He is rated 1lb higher, but Joe Leavy takes 7lb off his back and the five-year-old must enter calculations here. Ideal Guest is feared most following a decent third over 7f here earlier this month, while Kodias Sangarius heads the remainder.
The vote in this trappy-looking contest goes to KODIAS SANGARIUS, who is eased into 0-65 company for the first time and a reproduction of her seasonal reappearance near-miss at Kempton would probably suffice. Masterclass is also dropping in class and is feared most ahead of First Company and Ideal Guest.
Kodias Sangarius is feared down in grade but IDEAL GUEST is selected to make all now dropped back to a sprint trip.

Corymbosa |
(1) (5.5/1 -22%)5.5/1(-22%) | (1) Corymbosa 5.5/1, Promising individual. 3/1, third of 7 in maiden at Newcastle (10.2f) on return in April. The pair that beat her that day haven't done much for the form since but this Fankel filly couldn't be in better hands and is open to improvement. Has shown some promise in two AW runs; Ryan Moore on today; capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Karriewhitchit |
(5) (12/1 +0%)12/1(+0%) | (5) Karriewhitchit 12/1, Dubawi filly. Sister to 2-y-o 7f winner Kazimiera and useful 1m-1¼m winner Franz Kafka and half-sister to useful 1¼m-1¾m winner Charles Kingsley. Interesting to see which way she goes in the betting. Well-bred newcomer but she has a useful standard to aim at on her debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (0.3/1 +64%) Karat Karat |
0.3/1(+64%) | (4) Karat Karat 0.3/1, Promising type. Fourth of 13 in minor event at Newbury (10f, good, 12/1) on debut 19 days ago, not knocked about. That form looks solid (winner followed up in a listed event at Newmarket on Saturday) and this well-bred filly is likely to progress. Debut 4th came in a hot race and she shaped very well; open to improvement; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 -20%) Franberri |
6/1(-20%) | (3) Franberri 6/1, 200,000 gns yearling, Frankel filly. Closely related to 3 winners, including smart 9f-1½m winner Teodoro and useful 2-y-o 7f winner Altruistic and half-sister to 11.6f winner Pitchoun. Market should point the way. 200,000gns yearling from a family full of useful winners; market instructive on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (66/1 +0%) Desejada |
66/1(+0%) | (2) Desejada 66/1, Once-raced maiden. Eighth of 9 in minor event (66/1) at Newmarket (10f, good to firm) on debut 48 days ago. Probably more one for handicaps in due course. 66-1, green and never threatened on Newmarket debut (1m2f, good); longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (8/1 -14%) Torchlight |
8/1(-14%) | (7) Torchlight 8/1, Invincible Spirit filly. Half-sister to useful 1½m winner Mr Inspiration. Dam winner up to 1½m (2-y-o 5f-1m winner) who stayed 1¾m, fourth in 1000 Guineas. Lots to like on paper and she needs close attention in the betting. Half-sister to 1m4f winner out of Listed-winning mare; bred to be useful but needs to be. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (100/1 +0%) Rock Goddess |
100/1(+0%) | (6) Rock Goddess 100/1, Once-raced maiden. 16/1, last of 7 in minor event at Kempton (12f) on debut 35 days ago, missing break. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Presumably more of a long-term project. Well beaten on her debut (1m4f, AW) last month; tongue tied now; longer-term prospect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
KARAT KARAT made a promising start to her racing career when finishing a fair fourth over this trip at Newbury last month. Faced with much lesser opposition here, the daughter of Australia is fancied to progress given she is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Al Aasy. Newcomer Franberri is related to a few smart types and should not be underestimated, while fellow debutant Torchlight completes the shortlist.
It was a pretty useful novice event in which KARAT KARAT was a promising fourth on her introduction at Newbury last month and, with the improvement on the cards here, she will take plenty of stopping. There is much to like about Torchlight on paper and she could emerge as the main danger ahead of Corymbosa and fellow newcomers Franberri and Karriewhitchit.
There was significant promise in the debut run of KARAT KARAT at Newbury and she can put that experience to good use.

1st (5) (1.1/1 +63%) Afloat |
1.1/1(+63%) | (5) Afloat 1.1/1, 9/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at this C&D (good) 9 days ago. Obvious chance under a penalty on the back of that thoroughly decisive display. Made smooth headway from the rear to win readily by over 4l here last week; 6lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6.5/1 +28%) Letaba |
6.5/1(+28%) | (4) Letaba 6.5/1, 12/1 and blinkered for 1st time, good fourth of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 16 days ago, having to pick way through. Back up in trip and remains vulnerable for win purposes. Safely held on handicap debut but fared better when fourth in first-time blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (7/1 +50%) Midsummer Dance |
7/1(+50%) | (10) Midsummer Dance 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving John & Thady Gosden when creditable third of 6 in handicap at Leicester (10f, good, 7/1) 65 days ago, not ideally placed. Needs to raise her game a touch. Just a respectable third on stable/handicap debut but may still have potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (12/1 -9%) Corporate Raider |
12/1(-9%) | (9) Corporate Raider 12/1, C&D winner in June. Bit below form 9½ lengths fifth of 10 to Afloat in handicap at this C&D (good, 11/2) 9 days ago. Likely to find one or two too good. C&D winner in June; didn't fire last week but still a possible under 7lb claimer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (14/1 -17%) Wild Hoofer |
14/1(-17%) | (7) Wild Hoofer 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable seventh of 12 in handicap (9/4) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 16 days ago. This step up in trip is of dubious benefit. Midfield when favouite for recent handicap debut (8.6f); up in trip again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (80/1 -21%) Clenched |
80/1(-21%) | (11) Clenched 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving Harry & Roger Charlton when eighth of 10 in handicap (80/1) at Newmarket (10f, good to soft) 19 days ago, slowly away. Readily passed over. Always behind on last month's seasonal/stable debut; has too much to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (8.5/1 -70%) Khangai |
8.5/1(-70%) | (8) Khangai 8.5/1, 9/4, didn't need to improve to win 8-runner handicap at Chepstow (10f, good to firm) 45 days ago, having run of race. 5 lb rise fair enough and booking of Tom Marquand a plus, so he's one to consider. Made virtually all at Chepstow in June, his tenth start; 5lb rise demands a bit more here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (25/1 +0%) Twilight Guest |
25/1(+0%) | (13) Twilight Guest 25/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap (10/1) at Newmarket (10f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Record stands at 0-11 and he's likely to come up short once more. Placed three times this year but ran poorly last time and is now 0-11; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (22/1 -57%) Kemerton |
22/1(-57%) | (1) Kemerton 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 10 in handicap at Nottingham (10.2f, good, 20/1). Off 10 months and needs to get back on track but he's not one to write off given the ability he displayed when fourth in a Kempton novice last August. Unplaced all five starts and absence since last September; not the obvious answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (50/1 +0%) College Wizard |
50/1(+0%) | (14) College Wizard 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 125/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, 8½ lengths third of 10 to Afloat in handicap at this C&D (good) 9 days ago. That represented a step forward but he will do well to turn the tables on Afloat. Belied 125-1 odds when modest third over C&D on recent handicap debut; more needed today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (50/1 -52%) Nahwand |
50/1(-52%) | (6) Nahwand 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Hooded for 1st time, last of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good, 16/1) 13 days ago. Significantly up in trip and needs to find some improvement. Finished last in both handicaps for new stable last month (6f/7f); hiked up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (10/1 +50%) Medina Gold |
10/1(+50%) | (12) Medina Gold 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, soft) 19 days ago. Back up in trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time and the headgear will need to help eke out more if she's to play a part in the finish. Encouraging handicap debut over 1m last month; bac up in trip with headgear added here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Handel kept on to score by three-quarters of a length over a mile at this track last month, but a 5lb raised mark will make life more difficult. Therefore, the vote goes to AFLOAT, who bolted up over C&D earlier this month. She does have to shoulder a 6lb penalty for that success, but the nature of that victory suggests she has much more to offer. Fellow last-time-out winner Khangai is another to consider.
The form of the Leicester handicap in which EXPERT WITNESS was a close third is working out well and, with the promise of better to come from Sir Mark Todd's representative over this trip, she earns the vote. Afloat is an obvious threat on the back of her easy C&D success last week, while fellow last-time-out scorer Khangai is also shortlisted. Kemerton isn't one to give up on just yet and he could also have a part to play.
Rae Guest's filly AFLOAT displayed a significant jolt of improvement to win over C&D nine days ago and is 2lb ahead of the handicapper.

1st (4) (4/1 +43%) Churchill Rose |
4/1(+43%) | (4) Churchill Rose 4/1, Third of 5 in handicap at this course (14.1f, good, 18/1) 41 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time and she won't be far away if the new headgear has the desired effect. Modest efforts in h'caps (8.5f to 1m6f); on a good mark; interesting with headgear tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6.5/1 +59%) Who Loves You Baby |
6.5/1(+59%) | (2) Who Loves You Baby 6.5/1, 9/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixth of 8 in handicap at this course (10.1f, good) 29 days ago. Others preferred. Good 2nd over 1m3f here in June; poor efforts since (headgear on latest); best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (12/1 -243%) Dee's Dream |
12/1(-243%) | (1) Dee's Dream 12/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, first run since leaving Michael Attwater when tenth of 12 in handicap at Bath (11.6f, good, 9/2) 22 days ago, not knocked about. Hood on 1st time. Record stands at 0-11. Pulled too hard in cheekpieces on stable debut last time; hood on instead; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (7/1 +18%) Seraphia |
7/1(+18%) | (8) Seraphia 7/1, Seventh of 10 in minor event (13/2) at Chepstow (12f, good to soft) 31 days ago. Opposable for win purposes. Fair third in first-time visor in May; not progressed and has plenty to prove now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (2.5/1 -11%) Blue Antares |
2.5/1(-11%) | (3) Blue Antares 2.5/1, Creditable second of 11 in handicap at Hamilton (13.1f, good, 3/1) 20 days ago. Another bold show anticipated. 0-8 but creditable second with a visor on last two starts and looks the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (3/1 +25%) Dame Sarra |
3/1(+25%) | (5) Dame Sarra 3/1, 15/2, career best when winning 11-runner minor event at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 22 days ago, well ridden. More on her plate back in handicap company she's a player nonetheless. In good form with an AW win (1m4f) and a good turf second on last two starts; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (33/1 -32%) Little Tiger |
33/1(-32%) | (6) Little Tiger 33/1, 12/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 9 in handicap at this course (10.1f, good) 29 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Modest form in handicaps this year; needs to improve markedly for the change in headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (66/1 -120%) Onemore Twomore |
66/1(-120%) | (9) Onemore Twomore 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, seventh of 9 in minor event at this course (10.1f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Makes handicap debut and sizeable step forward required. Well beaten all starts including in a 1m2f classified here; 1lb wrong; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (28/1 -12%) Ladylingmoor |
28/1(-12%) | (7) Ladylingmoor 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Beverley (9.9f, soft, 50/1) 17 days ago. Hopes pinned on the first-time blinkers sparking improvement. Modest efforts so far; stable in fine form; may improve up in trip with blinkers tried. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BLUE ANTARES has been knocking on the door of late, most recently when filling the runner-up spot at Hamilton, and the son of Frankel would not need to improve much more to get off the mark. Dame Sarra landed a classified event at Wolverhampton 22 days ago and she must enter calculations back in a handicap. Dee's Dream has seen her handicap mark decline in recent starts and she might be able to step forward for the fitting of a first-time hood.
BLUE ANTARES has raised his game since fitted with a visor, finding just one too good in handicaps at Ripon and Hamilton, and is taken to deservedly open his account. Churchill Rose certainly wasn't disgraced over 14f here last time and is next on the list with this drop back in trip no bad thing. Dame Sarra recently opened her account on the all-weather and she will also be a threat if she puts her best foot forward now returned to turf.
In a race that won't take much winning the in-form BLUE ANTARES (nap) is the one to beat. AW winner Dame Sarra is next best.

2nd (1) (4/1 -60%) Mucky Mulconry |
4/1(-60%) | (1) Mucky Mulconry 4/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in May. Creditable third of 10 in handicap at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm, 4/1) 45 days ago, not clear run. Solid each-way chance. 5f AW winner in May; placed on both outings since (close 2nd over C&D first time); chance. |

3rd (9) (12/1 +52%) Ali Jewels |
12/1(+52%) | (9) Ali Jewels 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1, fifth of 11 in minor event at this course (5.2f, good) 9 days ago. Another who needs to step up now that she ventures down the handicap route. Unexposed; not shown a great deal so far and improvement needed. |

2.75/1(+8%) | (2) Irish Dessert 2.75/1, 11/8, sixth of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 2 days ago. Would have a serious chance if able to repoduce the form of his Leicester effort last month. 7th (3) (14/1 +13%) Senor Pockets |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Senor Pockets 14/1, Eleventh of 15 in handicap (16/1) at Leicester (7f, good) 21 days ago. Not the most consistent and needs to turn over a new lead now equipped with cheekpieces. Best run was over 6f; disappointing last time but may improve for first-time cheekpieces. |

8th (5) (2/1 +50%) Bryce |
2/1(+50%) | (5) Bryce 2/1, Fourth of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good, 11/2) 21 days ago. Remains a maiden following 12 attempts but he's in with a shout all the same. 0-12; some fair efforts in 6f handicaps, last twice with cheekpieces; each-way chance. |

9th (6) (25/1 -79%) Sajwaan |
25/1(-79%) | (6) Sajwaan 25/1, Last of 6 in handicap at Brighton (6f, firm, 25/1) 62 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and, having been given a chance by the handicapper, he's not a forlorn hope. Some fair efforts in 6f AW h'caps; gelded after poor turf run latest; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Having opened his account at Wolverhampton in May, MUCKY MULCONRY has posted two good efforts in defeat since and looks more than capable of defying his current mark in a moderate affair. Bryce continues to run with credit and is unlikely to be far away. Dropped in trip and with cheekpieces applied for the first time, Senor Pockets could go well too.
SAJWAAN needs to bounce back following a string of below-par efforts, but her handicap mark has dipped as a consequence and she is worth chancing in what looks a wide-open contest. Irish Dessert is second choice ahead of Bryce and Mucky Mulconry.
The vote goes to MUCKY MULCONRY who won over 5f at Wolverhampton in May and has since run creditably in two turf handicaps.

1st (6) (3.33/1 +5%) Abravaggio |
3.33/1(+5%) | (6) Abravaggio 3.33/1, First run since leaving George Margarson when 17/2, career best when winning 11-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (8f) 16 days ago. The primary question is whether he'll reproduce that level of form now returned to turf. Improved form when off the mark on the AW on stable debut last time (1m); interesting. |

6/1(+0%) | (1) Porfin 6/1, Won 9-runner handicap (11/1) at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) 6 days ago, keeping on well. Likely to give another good account under a penalty. Off the mark for 2023 over 6f at Newmarket last week; stays 7f; stiffer task with penalty. |

11/1(-83%) | (5) Bluebells Boy 11/1, Good second of 10 in handicap (11/4) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 16 days ago. One to consider back on turf with Tom Marquand in the hot-seat. Good second at Wolves last time but was well beaten (after a slow start) on only turf run. |

8.5/1(-31%) | (9) Climate Change 8.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, good third of 10 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f). Off 174 days. That represented a step forward and he's worth a second look now handicapping. Creditable third on h'cap debut in Feb (AW); not run since; fitness to prove on turf debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A few with chances, but marginal preference is for PORFIN. Phil McEntee's charge made all to score at Newmarket six days ago and he remains well treated under a penalty, provided this doesn't come too soon. Habanero Star must also compete under a penalty having struck over 1m here last time, but she appeals as a key player along with Abravaggio. Rogue Star should not be underestimated either.
ABRAVAGGIO made a winning start for his present yard at Chelmsford recently and a 4 lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from following up, provided he again puts his best foot forward. Bluebells Boy has low mileage for a 4-y-o and is respected on the back of a solid effort at Wolverhampton. He is second choice, albeit only marginally as Habanero Star and The Cola Brasil are others with decent claims.
Having shown improved form when scoring on his stable debut last time, ABRAVAGGIO is taken to follow up.
Ths is the racecard key.
