1st (2) (7.5/1 -36%) Imac Wood |
7.5/1(-36%) | (2) Imac Wood 7.5/1, Dual chase winner in France early last year. Not at that level for this yard though shaped encouragingly from a reduced mark back over hurdles after a breathing operation/4 months off when third at Uttoxeter. Pulled up on his only run over British fences but ran well back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3.5/1 +13%) Dirk Gently |
3.5/1(+13%) | (6) Dirk Gently 3.5/1, Poor form when placed last 3 starts over hurdles. Lazy type who now makes his chase bow. Encouraging third on stable debut and he's bred for this new discipline. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/1 -80%) Cotton End |
9/1(-80%) | (3) Cotton End 9/1, Losing run is mounting up but shaped better than the bare result when fourth of 7 in handicap chase (11/1) over this C&D (good to soft) 40 days ago, looking second best for a long way until a chance-ending error 3 out. 0-8 chasing but she was in the firing line over C&D when clouting three out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (2.75/1 -10%) Miss Antipova |
2.75/1(-10%) | (7) Miss Antipova 2.75/1, Remains winless following 21 attempts overall but this 11-y-o has certainly been knocking on the door in recent months, finding just one too good for the fifth consecutive start at Uttoxeter (2½m, good to soft) 6 weeks ago. Likely to be in the mix once more back down in trip in first-time headgear. Needs to buck her run of seconds but races prominently and jumps soundly enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/1 +21%) Decoration Of War |
11/1(+21%) | (5) Decoration Of War 11/1, Showed little promise in 4 starts over fences last summer and shaped as if in need of the run when seventh in a handicap hurdle at Market Rasen after 10 months off in June. Stuck in the mud next time but bit to prove back in this sphere. Shown some aptitude for fences and penultimate hurdle run was respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (8.5/1 +74%) Ocean's Of Money |
8.5/1(+74%) | (9) Ocean's Of Money 8.5/1, Still to register a victory and up against it from 10 lb out of the handicap. Placed in points but a maiden under rules and hasn't been at her best this summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (11/1 -10%) Go Fox |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Go Fox 11/1, Took advantage of a much-reduced mark when successful at Fakenham in June and followed up at Stratford (17f) 16 days later. Just the one decent effort since but mark is at least easing again. Two wins in June but fell in his hat-trick bid and below par since then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (4/1 -14%) Stumps Or Slips |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Stumps Or Slips 4/1, Going the right way over fences now, impressing most with the strength of his finish when following up his Warwick success over this C&D in June. Hat-trick bid was too bad to be true so worth another chance. Made it 2-3 over fences here before the drop back to 2m1f found him out at Bangor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (150/1 -127%) My Boy Grizzle |
150/1(-127%) | (8) My Boy Grizzle 150/1, Looks of no account nowadays. Maiden whose struggles continued when pulled up on his recent chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Stumps Or Slips is a decent sort, winning very easily here in June before being pulled up at Bangor after making far too many mistakes. He may struggle to give 24lb to MISS ANTIPOVA, who deserves a first success over fences after five consecutive second places, the latest when only beaten a length and a quarter at Uttoxeter over further. First-time cheekpieces may work the oracle, while Imac Wood is an interesting alternative assuming he improves for his first start after wind surgery.
MISS ANTIPOVA ran well to finish runner-up for the fifth successive start at Uttoxeter and the application of headgear may help her finally get her head in front. Stumps or Slips is a big threat if his latest run can be forgiven, while Imac Wood took a step back in the right direction over hurdles last time.

Mr Mafia |
(1) (14/1 -100%)14/1(-100%) | (1) Mr Mafia 14/1, Veteran campaigner who capitalised on some mercy from the assessor when making a winning return from 8 months off at Newton Abbot (25.7f) in July, closed down only late on. Only 2 lb higher now but he'll need to pull out more if he's to follow up here. Back from a break to win at Newton Abbot and a 2lb rise is neither here nor there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (5) (3/1 +40%) Captain Tommy |
3/1(+40%) | (5) Captain Tommy 3/1, Capitalised on freefalling mark at Bangor (3m) in May and similar form in defeat next 2 starts. Disappointed without usual tongue strap (refitted here) in a C&D handicap 33 days ago but no surprise to see a better showing. Soft ground an excuse last time and had been running well before that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (2.5/1 -11%) Carlo Du Berlais |
2.5/1(-11%) | (6) Carlo Du Berlais 2.5/1, Proved a different proposition switched to chasing, posting his best effort yet when making it 2 wins from 3 starts at Uttoxeter (3m) 6 weeks ago, finding plenty in the latter stages. Up 5 lb but unlikely we've seen all he has to offer just yet. Player. Just three runs over hurdles and now 2-3 over fences; can continue to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4/1 +64%) Easkey Lad |
4/1(+64%) | (7) Easkey Lad 4/1, Improved to win a pair of 3m Ffos Las handicaps in May and June before facing a very stiff task from well out of the weights in the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter. Returned to form back in calmer waters when fourth at Newton Abbot (25.7f) 4 weeks ago and he's an each-way player. Latest run was in line with his winning efforts and should go well despite tough mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8.5/1 -6%) Favori De Sivola |
8.5/1(-6%) | (3) Favori De Sivola 8.5/1, Multiple chase winner who failed to meet expectations following another wind op when fifth of 7 in handicap at Perth (23.8f) on yard debut 10 days ago. This a pretty quick turnaround and interesting if the market spoke in his favour once more. Struggles continued on debut for this yard at Perth only ten days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3/1 -20%) Reserve Tank |
3/1(-20%) | (4) Reserve Tank 3/1, Inconsistent as a rule but represents an in-form yard and took advantage of tumbling mark to record first success since 2019/20 campaign at Market Rasen (19f) in June. Remains with handicapping scope on old form and he's worth considering again. Return to winning ways was three months ago and more new headgear tried here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CARLO DU BERLAIS gets the nod. The winner of two of his three starts over fences, including last time out at Uttoxeter over three miles, he has another 5lb here but is lightly raced and should still be improving. Last-time-out winners Reserve Tank and Mr Mafia can also go well, with the former feared most on the basis that he was impressive at Market Rasen and now sports first-time cheekpieces.
It could just be worth siding with RESERVE TANK who cashed in off his much-reduced mark when ending a lengthy losing run at Market Rasen back in June and he comes here remaining with plenty of handicapping scope on his old form. Low-mileage improver Carlo du Berlais can emerge as the lead threat.
Fergal O'Brien's CARLO DU BERLAIS has little in hand off his current mark but it's been a solid start over fences and he tries hard.

1st (5) (16/1 -129%) Jeudidee |
16/1(-129%) | (5) Jeudidee 16/1, Strong in the betting and made a winning debut with a bit to spare in a Warwick bumper in May. Too free under a penalty at Stratford 8 weeks later and now goes hurdling in a first-time tongue strap. First bumper run much better than the second; now tongue tied for hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2.25/1 +50%) Gaius |
2.25/1(+50%) | (1) Gaius 2.25/1, Fairly useful Flat winner for Richard Hannon and off the mark in a C&D maiden in June. Ran no sort of race on handicap debut at Cartmel last time, however. C&D winner with solid form claims back in a novice, even with his penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (80/1 -471%) Record Art |
80/1(-471%) | (7) Record Art 80/1, Fair maiden on the Flat who showed a bit more than first time up in this sphere when fourth of 5 in juvenile hurdle at Exeter (16.7f, soft). Off 9 months. First run for yard after leaving Fergal O'Brien. His two fourths for a different yard were remote; up against it on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (33/1 -32%) Buck Of Maine |
33/1(-32%) | (4) Buck Of Maine 33/1, From a good French family and showed promise when third of 6 in a Plumpton bumper on debut. Disappointing bearing in mind that promise at Newton Abbot and was one of the first beaten sent hurdling at Market Rasen last month. Plenty to prove. Placed in two bumpers; not at home on soft ground when pulled up on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (0.4/1 +60%) Winterwatch |
0.4/1(+60%) | (3) Winterwatch 0.4/1, Dual Flat winner who ran badly at Goodwood on most recent outing. However, sets the standard on his trio of runner-up efforts over hurdles, latest in Fontwell handicap in October. Decent Flat horse; placed over hurdles and this looks a good chance to get off the mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -127%) Power Generation |
150/1(-127%) | (6) Power Generation 150/1, Modest maiden on the Flat who was well held tried over hurdles at Stratford 11 months ago. Off since. Regressive Flat maiden; 200-1 when tailed off in a Stratford maiden hurdle last October. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
In an interesting contest there are plenty in with chances, though none more so than WINTERWATCH. Three times a winner on the Flat, he has come home second on his last three starts over hurdles and will be race-fit after running on the level earlier in the month. Gaius won his maiden here with ease before seemingly coming unstuck on heavy ground at Cartmel, and he could go well along with The Derry Girl and bumper winner Jeudidee.
WINTERWATCH ran badly on his most recent Flat outing, but he sets a clear standard back over hurdles and won't get many better opportunities to open his account in this sphere. Recent C&D winner The Derry Girl is fancied to prove the main threat.

Toronto |
(6) (12/1 +40%)12/1(+40%) | (6) Toronto 12/1, Fairly useful at best on the Flat. Won a pair of 2m novice hurdles in spring 2022 but has found life tougher in handicaps since, including pulling up on his recent yard debut despite being strong in the market. Has something to prove for now. Bled on stable debut at Bangor; well handicapped should the wheels stay on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (1.38/1 +0%) Sea The Clouds |
1.38/1(+0%) | (2) Sea The Clouds 1.38/1, Bumper/2m novice hurdle winner last season. Best effort in handicaps this season when narrowly denied over C&D 4 weeks ago. Unlikely to be far away if showing up in similar form. Dual winner who very nearly bagged his first handicap over C&D four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (14/1 +30%) Ragamuffin |
14/1(+30%) | (7) Ragamuffin 14/1, Three-time chase winner last season but hasn't made an impact in 3 outings this term, including back hurdling latest. Struggling over fences before finishing well beaten on his return to hurdling at Stratford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (3.33/1 -11%) Izayte |
3.33/1(-11%) | (5) Izayte 3.33/1, Winner of 2m Warwick handicap in May and creditable runner-up efforts at Uttoxeter and here (both 2m) on his last 2 starts. Should be thereabouts if his stamina holds stepping back up in trip. In form after a couple of seconds but does have his stamina to prove over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (5.5/1 +39%) Whiskey And Water |
5.5/1(+39%) | (9) Whiskey And Water 5.5/1, Runner-up at Newcastle when last seen over hurdles in spring 2021. Has shaped as if retaining ability on the Flat since returning from a long absence and Harry Cobden does the steering now back over timber in refitted cheekpieces. Needs keeping an eye on in the betting. Has been well held in three Flat runs since returning from a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5.5/1 +61%) Aviewtosea |
5.5/1(+61%) | (4) Aviewtosea 5.5/1, Three chase wins for Fergal O'Brien last summer. Second in 23f course chase in June but only a respectable fifth back hurdling at Uttoxeter last month on this first outing for this training partnership. Dropped out with a whimper in this new headgear back over hurdles a month ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (28/1 -12%) Esperti |
28/1(-12%) | (1) Esperti 28/1, Fairly useful winning hurdler in Ireland for Peter Fahey but he has failed to fire in 3 outings for his yard. The season's leading jockey Sean Bowen takes the ride again but would need to see market support to consider. No worthwhile form for this yard, including when way behind Sea The Clouds here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -614%) Sholsang |
100/1(-614%) | (8) Sholsang 100/1, Winning pointer. Second in maiden chase in Ireland for David Christie last May but didn't get close to that level in 5 subsequent starts over there and pulled up in a Uttoxeter handicap chase on last month's debut for a new yard. Cheekpieces refitted. Best watched unless the betting hints otherwise. Ran no race over fences on his debut for this yard after a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (100/1 -52%) Chasamax |
100/1(-52%) | (10) Chasamax 100/1, Three-time winner in this sphere for Nicky Henderson but ended time with that yard below par and has continued in the same vein for current stable. Never lower in the weights but he's nothing like the force of old and remains opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SEA THE CLOUDS found only a subsequent winner too strong over C&D at the start of the month and a similar level of performance may be enough to defy a 3lb rise in the ratings. Izayte arrives in good heart judged on his last two runner-up efforts over 2m and could emerge as the chief threat if seeing out this trip. Oslo caught the eye on his return at Bangor recently and also merits consideration.
OSLO shaped quite well on his recent return to action and is given a chance to confirm that promise. Sea The Clouds is feared most on the back of his near miss over C&D at the beginning of the month. Izayte is another who arrives in form, while Whiskey And Water is one to note in the betting back hurdling under Harry Cobden.
The 6yo OSLO has to enter the equation. He took a while to get his eye in at Bangor but ended up being quite eyecatching.

1st (8) (18/1 -80%) Democritus |
18/1(-80%) | (8) Democritus 18/1, Fair maiden hurdler who took his form up a notch when second in 19f Warwick maiden hurdle in April. Disappointed with cheekpieces added (discarded) on last month's course reappearance and now steps back up in trip for handicap debut. Also tongue tied first time. Tongue-tie fitted for handicap debut here and has the ability to cope with this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (7.5/1 -25%) Rare Clouds |
7.5/1(-25%) | (9) Rare Clouds 7.5/1, Last season's Southwell reappearance success shows he's capable when fresh. Creditable fourth over C&D when last seen. One to consider on return to action. Quite exposed and probably one to watch back from his break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5.5/1 -38%) Cawthorne Lad |
5.5/1(-38%) | (2) Cawthorne Lad 5.5/1, Fair hurdler for Jonjo O'Neill and shaped as if retaining ability for his new yard when third of 4 on his Stratford reappearance in June. Infrequent winner who was laboured on stable debut, albeit over 3m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (2.12/1 +36%) Kazontherazz |
2.12/1(+36%) | (6) Kazontherazz 2.12/1, Course maiden hurdle winner earlier in career. Runner-up twice in handicap company in the first half of last season and shaped reasonably well on last month's return from 9 months off. One to consider under Sean Bowen. Finished tired at Uttoxeter (2m7f) and this shorter trip should be in her favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (3.5/1 +56%) Sir Jack West |
3.5/1(+56%) | (10) Sir Jack West 3.5/1, Won a handicap chase here in May. Creditable third next time and may have found the run coming too soon when a well-held fifth back here 12 days later. Returns to hurdles back from an 11-week break. Won over fences here in May; never went a yard last time but now back hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (20/1 -264%) Creative Control |
20/1(-264%) | (1) Creative Control 20/1, Chase winner last season. Out of sorts when last seen in the spring but is on a winning back hurdling after a break (has had wind surgery). Chasing through the winter; has defied a higher hurdle mark; wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (28/1 -100%) Heross Du Seuil |
28/1(-100%) | (4) Heross Du Seuil 28/1, French bumper winner who landed a Kempton juvenile hurdle for Nicky Henderson in December 2021. Hasn't gone on from that, however, including pulling up in 2 outings for this yard in the spring. His mark has tumbled but would need to see market support to consider. Disappointing since winning in 2020 and pulled up in both runs this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (9/1 +55%) Caspers Court |
9/1(+55%) | (7) Caspers Court 9/1, Won handicap hurdles at Wincanton and Exeter at the start of the year but not at best on his last 2 starts, albeit he may have needed his first outing in 4 months at Newton Abbot 4 weeks ago. After two wins earlier this year he suddenly lost his form; 5lb above last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (16/1 +0%) No Recollection |
16/1(+0%) | (5) No Recollection 16/1, Dual 2m course scorer. Found a Market Rasen Class 2 too much last month and unseated early here since. Steps up in trip now. 2-3 here and unseated in the defeat; has stamina to prove over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (14/1 -155%) Beholden |
14/1(-155%) | (3) Beholden 14/1, Newton Abbot maiden and 2½m Wincanton novice winner in autumn 2021 but absent since finishing a distant third at Fontwell in May 2022. Betting perhaps the best guide to what's expected after a long layoff. Dual hurdle winner capable of bagging a handicap but has been a good-while absent. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
KAZONTHERAZZ shaped better than the bare form suggests on her return at Uttoxeter last month and the drop to 2m4f could prove just the tonic for Martin Keighley's mare. Beholden looks to have a race of this nature within his compass judged on last year's second at Huntingdon and the Cacique gelding shouldn't be underestimated on the return from a 474-day layoff. Cawthorne Lad is entitled to improve on his first run for new connections when third at Stratford in June.
KAZONTHERAZZ should be sharper with last month's reappearance behind her and gets the nod with Sean Bowen taking over in the saddle. Creative Control is well capable off this mark if reacting positively to a wind op since last seen in the spring. The reappearing Rare Clouds won first time up last season and also makes the shortlist.

1.88/1(+37%) | (6) Jolie Baie 1.88/1, More like it when second over C&D last month but it wasn't a strong race from her lowly mark. Can be a factor with a repeat. Runner-up from 9lb out of the weights in a C&D handicap last month; may need more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8.5/1 +39%) Impression Chic |
8.5/1(+39%) | (3) Impression Chic 8.5/1, £26,000 buy after finish runner-up on her completed start in points (Feb 5). Didn't achieve a great deal on hurdles debut in June (2m) and now upped in trip. She was beaten a long way on her switch to hurdling over 2m here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5.5/1 +31%) Sunday Soldier |
5.5/1(+31%) | (5) Sunday Soldier 5.5/1, Verging on fair in bumpers in Ireland but nowhere near that level both starts over hurdles. Placed in bumpers but below that level in her recent hurdle runs; unconvincing. |

4th (1) (1.1/1 -77%) Fountainspinklady |
1.1/1(-77%) | (1) Fountainspinklady 1.1/1, Won a point bumper and also successful in a conventional one under Rules on second start for this yard at Newton Abbot in July. This looks a good opening switched to hurdling upped in trip. Newton Abbot bumper winner and found a weak race in which to go hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (66/1 -164%) Princess Priya |
66/1(-164%) | (4) Princess Priya 66/1, Modest in bumpers but lightly raced and limited impact both hurdles starts for this yard. Bumper promise but it's been a very quiet start over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (22/1 -57%) Hollywood Harmon |
22/1(-57%) | (2) Hollywood Harmon 22/1, £1,000 6-y-o, first foal, dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 25f) Bob Lingo and fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3m) Talk The Lingo. Unplaced completed starts in Irish points, fourth last time (May 21). Irish point form is nothing to shout about whatsoever but has joined a respected yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A taking winner of a bumper at Newton Abbot last time out, FOUNTAINSPINKLADY can be trusted to follow up on her hurdling bow. The step up in trip doesn't look as though it will inconvenience her and she gets the vote ahead of Sunday Soldier and Jolie Baie, who ran a career best when runner-up over C&D last month. Impression Chic is interesting too.
Bumper-winner FOUNTAINSPINKLADY is bred to relish this trip and in truth, she could hardly have been found a weaker race for hurdles debut. Jolie's Baie's limitations are well established but a repeat of her effort in handicap company over C&D will see her thereabouts.

1st (8) (3.5/1 +42%) Classic Concorde |
3.5/1(+42%) | (8) Classic Concorde 3.5/1, On a long losing run but has resumed in this sphere in good form, runner-up in C&D handicaps either side of finishing a creditable third at Uttoxeter. Mark unchanged and this 10-y-o is likely to give another good account. Gave it everything here last week but did endure a hard race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (4.5/1 +18%) Best Mate Dave |
4.5/1(+18%) | (10) Best Mate Dave 4.5/1, After 6 months off, showed much more than previously when successful on his handicap debut here (2½m, good) in June. However, he was suited by the way the race developed and more will be needed back up in trip off a 7 lb higher mark. Much improved on handicap debut here and could easily cope with the 7lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (12/1 -100%) Woodie Flash |
12/1(-100%) | (1) Woodie Flash 12/1, £20,000 purchase after getting off the mark in Irish points at the second attempt in February. Made it third time lucky over hurdles when taking C&D maiden last month but more needed now sent handicapping off what looks a pretty stern opening mark. C&D maiden winner but this initial mark asks a question of him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (10/1 +17%) Inspector Lynley |
10/1(+17%) | (12) Inspector Lynley 10/1, No impact in bumpers/novice hurdles but has made the frame both completed starts in handicaps over 2½m here. Still, he'll need to improve for this step up in trip if he's to open his account. Beaten under 10l in his two completed handicaps but handicap mark hasn't really moved. |

5th (3) (7/1 +56%) Red Happy |
7/1(+56%) | (3) Red Happy 7/1, Scored 3 times (all 3m plus) in 2022, bagging handicap chases off much higher marks than this either side of landing the odds in a weak novice hurdle at Southwell. Not in anything like the same form so far this year, though, and it's easy to have reservations at present. His recent third was remote and he's been struggling for a while. |

3.5/1(+22%) | (4) Judge Earle 3.5/1, Prolific over fences last summer, winning 5 times, and back in the groove when landing handicap chases at Uttoxeter and here (both over 2½m) last month. Just touched off over 23.8f at Perth recently and he has to be feared back in this sphere off an attractive mark. Near miss at Perth was off a 20lb higher chase mark; won't be far away. |

7th (11) (25/1 -25%) Off The Planet |
25/1(-25%) | (11) Off The Planet 25/1, Record became distinctly patchy for Philip Hobbs and while he posted his best effort for a while when third of 11 over C&D on second start for new yard here last month, others basically look stronger. 0-12 under rules; latest 11l third over C&D on soft ground was mildly encouraging. |

|PU| (5) (7/1 +13%) Aki Bomaye |
7/1(+13%) | (5) Aki Bomaye 7/1, Winner of sole start between the flags but 0-9 under Rules for the Tizzards. Still, he needs a second look in the betting starting out for an in-form, predominantly Flat-orientated yard which boasts a good strike rate over jumps, plus he has the assistance of Harry Cobden. 0-9 under rules but some positives over hurdles and fences; now with new yard. |

|PU| (6) (12/1 -50%) Lighthouse Mill |
12/1(-50%) | (6) Lighthouse Mill 12/1, Has been thriving this spring/summer, scoring over 2¾m at Stratford in June and hitting the crossbar on his next 2 starts. Wasn't disgraced off this career-high mark at Bangor (19.6f, good) last time and each-way shout eased slightly in class here. Consistent run of form in recent weeks and returning to further won't harm. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Denied by the narrowest of margins over C&D last time out, CLASSIC CONCORDE deserves a change in luck and he can get that on this occasion. The 10-year-old is capable of landing a third career victory, with the in-form Judge Earle and last month's C&D winner Woodie Flash looking best placed to chase him home. Best Mate Dave and Blue Sans cannot be ruled out either.
If able to reproduce something akin to his recent chase form back in this sphere, JUDGE EARLE will surely take plenty of stopping off a potentially lenient hurdles mark. Aki Bomaye clearly has a fair bit to prove but he's interesting on debut for the Jack Jones yard with Harry Cobden booked, and market confidence behind this 8-y-o should be heeded. Classic Concorde is third choice ahead of the hat-trick seeking Blue Sans.
A few hold chances but BEST MATE DAVE (nap) probably has more to offer after his successful handicap debut.
Ths is the racecard key.
