7.5/1(+0%) | (9) Ironhill 7.5/1, Made a winning start for Alastair Ralph in bumper here last summer. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +33%) Sinister Minister |
4/1(+33%) | (4) Sinister Minister 4/1, Has made a positive start to his chase career, runner-up over C&D 21 days ago. In the mix despite taking a 3 lb rise in the weights. 15-race maiden but placed in three of his last four outings; capable of a bold show. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (2.12/1 -41%) Zoran |
2.12/1(-41%) | (1) Zoran 2.12/1, Fairly useful winner at 10f on Flat. 6/4, career best when easily winning 8-runner handicap chase over C&D (good) 21 days ago. Hiked up 8 lb but more to offer and rates a big player. 6l winner over C&D (good) three weeks ago on his second start over fences; raised 8lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (12/1 +57%) Ocean's Of Money |
12/1(+57%) | (10) Ocean's Of Money 12/1, Still to register a victory but she posted a respectable fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Stratford (19.4f, good) 37 days ago. Can give a good account despite being 2 lb out of the handicap. 0-9 under rules; third of six at Ffos Las (2m3f, soft; 9lb lower today) three starts back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (50/1 +38%) Carapaz |
50/1(+38%) | (8) Carapaz 50/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and has no more than hinted at ability over hurdles in recent months. Lots more is needed now going chasing. No worthwhile form after two points and five hurdle races, handicaps on last two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (33/1 -50%) Abaya Du Mathan |
33/1(-50%) | (2) Abaya Du Mathan 33/1, Veteran who scored at Ffos Las in June but needs to shrug off 2 lesser runs at Worcester and Newton Abbot since. Others appeal more. Veteran; two wins over extended 2m3f at Ffos Las this year; heavy defeats last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (7/1 +18%) Martalmix'jac |
7/1(+18%) | (5) Martalmix'jac 7/1, Modest maiden hurdler who stepped up on his low-key chase debut when third in 8-runner handicap at Stratford (17f, good) 63 days ago. Step up in trip should suit so needs considering. 12-race maiden; second seasonal/chase start when third of eight at Stratford (2m1f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (25/1 -25%) Raecius Felix |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Raecius Felix 25/1, All-the-way winner of handicap chases at Sedgefield and Kelso (both at around 21f) last summer. Largely out of form since though so needs to take a big step forward. Third at Cartmel (2m5f, good) in June, his only show from four starts this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (20/1 +9%) Talkingthetalk |
20/1(+9%) | (7) Talkingthetalk 20/1, Got off the mark at Uttoxeter in June but pulled up in handicap chase over C&D (heavy) 26 days ago. Has something to prove. Won four-runner race in June; no trace of that form in her other eight British starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having struck the woodwork on his fencing bow, ZORAN made no mistake next time when romping to victory over this course and distance three weeks ago. Emma Lavelle's gelding has an 8lb higher mark to contend with today, but he remains open to further progress and looks certain to mount another serious challenge. Justshortofabubble, who recorded his first career success at Stratford last time, can give the selection most to think about, while Sinister Minister heads the remainder.
ZORAN impressed when going in over C&D last time and this fairly useful Flat winner can make light of a 8 lb rise in the weights. Sinister Minister has taken well to fences but might have to settle for runner-up spot once more, with Stratford-victor Justshortofabubble appealing as the pick for place purposes.
Recent C&D winner ZORAN brings reasonable hopes of better. Justshortofabubble and Sinister Minister are the other principals.

1st (4) (2/1 +43%) Courtland |
2/1(+43%) | (4) Courtland 2/1, Like many from the yard he's thrived this summer, completing a hat-trick (first 2 legs over 2½m here) before an excellent second in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen. This longer trip should be within range. Big player. Won first three starts this season; best form when second in Summer Plate at Market Rasen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/1 -20%) Go On Chez |
6/1(-20%) | (7) Go On Chez 6/1, Three wins last season and even better form when runner-up around 3m at Aintree and Southwell (beaten ½ length by Brief Times) this summer. Likely to give another good account. 6-12 strike-rate over fences and best form when close second on last two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/1 -20%) Brief Times |
6/1(-20%) | (2) Brief Times 6/1, Often let down by his jumping but has transformed by a step up to 3m in recent weeks, making all at Southwell (beat Go On Chez) and Bangor (by 3½ lengths from Saint Arvans). More on his plate now bidding for the hat-trick but can't discount in current mood. Won both starts upped to about 3m; did it well last time; up another 8lb but more to give. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (6.5/1 +19%) Saint Arvans |
6.5/1(+19%) | (9) Saint Arvans 6.5/1, Enhanced his good strike-rate over fences when seeing off 4 rivals at Perth (3m, good) in June. Respectable fifth in Summer Plate at Market Rasen next time and good second stepped back up to 3m at Bangor since. Fifth in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen and creditable second to Brief Times at Bangor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (18/1 +0%) Killer Clown |
18/1(+0%) | (3) Killer Clown 18/1, Dual handicap winner over 2½m in 2021/22 season. Lightly raced since and failed to build on his Uttoxeter third in May when pulled up in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen. Yet to prove he stays this far. Still useful on his day, such as when 3rd at Uttoxeter on penultimate start; inconsistent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 +0%) Eritage |
25/1(+0%) | (8) Eritage 25/1, Struggled on joining this yard last summer but back in better form over hurdles lately. His 3 handicap chase wins have all come from higher marks than this so not discounted back over fences. Well in judged on peak chase efforts; failed to complete last May/June in last two chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (18/1 -13%) Organdi |
18/1(-13%) | (10) Organdi 18/1, Veteran mare who probably isn't the force of old and ran below form again when 24½ lengths fourth of 5 to Brief Times (Go On Chez second) at Southwell last month. Third in this last year; third at Cartmel was easily the best of four runs this May-July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (18/1 +45%) Gats And Co |
18/1(+45%) | (12) Gats And Co 18/1, Really got his act together in 2022, winning 4 staying handicap chases on the bounce. Patchy form since and he faces a tough task here from 9 lb out of the handicap. Four-timer in February-June last year; hasn't fired in same way since; 9lb out of handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (10/1 -25%) Peregrine Run |
10/1(-25%) | (1) Peregrine Run 10/1, Won this 12 months ago and also added a win at Chepstow in October. Not disgraced in a conditions chase at Galway 16 days ago and this might have been the main aim again. Veteran who won this race last year; Galway latest saw a step back in the right direction. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/1 -47%) Hell Red |
11/1(-47%) | (6) Hell Red 11/1, Enjoyed a highly-productive spell small-field novice events in chases last summer before winning yet another match race at Fontwell in April. Twice a well-held fourth over hurdles at the start of the summer but he was back on track returned to chasing when third at Uttoxeter 23 days ago. Good 3rd of five over that trip when returned to fences at Uttoxeter; seems to need extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (18/1 -112%) Ruthless Article |
18/1(-112%) | (5) Ruthless Article 18/1, Can be hard to catch right but has finished a good second in the last 2 runnings of the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter. Not at his best when fourth of 5 there last time, though. 2nd in Summer Cup at Uttoxeter; not so good there (again 3m2f on good) four weeks later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (50/1 -79%) The Vollan |
50/1(-79%) | (11) The Vollan 50/1, Registered fourth victory of 2022 in a 4-runner Kelso handicap in October. Ended the year out of sorts, though, and returns from a 7-month break in a very competitive race. Four wins last year but lost his way on last four starts; returns from 239 days off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Brief Times merits respect having notched up back-to-back successes at Southwell and Bangor recently, as does the consistent Go On Chez. However, preference is for COURTLAND. His winning run came to an end in the Summer Plate last month, but that was another career-best performance and the progressive son of Court Cave can get back on track today. Peregrine Run is also noted.
COURTLAND advanced his form again when second in the Summer Plate (winner won again at the weekend) and he can resume winning ways now. The Paul Nicholls-trained Hell Red is second choice ahead of Go On Chez and the hat-trick seeking Brief Times.
A strong field, but the one runner with striking potential is BRIEF TIMES (nap). Next best are Go On Chez and Courtland.

1st (3) (1/1 +50%) Tribal Glory |
1/1(+50%) | (3) Tribal Glory 1/1, £48,000 buy after a point win in May and promising start under Rules when second over C&D 6 weeks ago. Taken to go one better. Irish point winner who went close here last month; should improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (8/1 +11%) The Eventmaster |
8/1(+11%) | (8) The Eventmaster 8/1, 3/1, raced too freely when fourth of 8 in bumper at Southwell on debut 35 days ago. Has the potential for better if the addition of a hood helps her to settle better this time. Hood applied after pulling too hard at Southwell when well backed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (2/1 +20%) Ridge Hill |
2/1(+20%) | (6) Ridge Hill 2/1, £24,000 Dubawi gelding. Brother to 2 winners on Flat and half-brother to 4 winners, including fair hurdler Demophon. Dam smart 9.4f/1¼m winner. Very interesting pedigree for a race like this. £24,000 4yo and a brother to smart middle-distance performer Dartmouth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (66/1 -32%) Harbour Bridge |
66/1(-32%) | (5) Harbour Bridge 66/1, Australia gelding. Half-brother to winner up to 1m Siberian Night. Dam, 2-y-o 1m winner who stayed 1½m. Yard 0-13 in bumpers in the last 5 seasons. Third foal; half-brother to 6f-1m winner Siberian Night (RPR 69); dam 1m 2yo winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/1 -133%) Captain's Pick |
7/1(-133%) | (1) Captain's Pick 7/1, Better effort in bumpers in Ireland when second of 12 at Kilbeggan in June. Joined a respected stable and a prominent showing is on the cards. Clear second in a good-ground Irish bumper and that form has been franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (20/1 -25%) Side Stepper |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Side Stepper 20/1, Nathaniel gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners on Flat. Dam, ran twice on Flat, closely related to smart 1¾m-17f winner Renew. Some paper appeal but Captain's Pick has to be considered the yard first string unless the betting suggests otherwise. 11,500gns yearling; fourth foal; half-brother to US winners Van Dusen (1m/8.5f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (125/1 -25%) Charia |
125/1(-25%) | (4) Charia 125/1, Pulled up in 2 C&D bumpers this summer. Can only watch. Tailed off when pulled up in his two previous visits to this track. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
It's not often that Archie Watson has runners in this sphere, but he's had some success when doing so and RIDGE HILL could continue that trend today. The son of Dubawi has a striking Flat pedigree, being a full-brother to former Yorkshire Cup winner Dartmouth, and this does not look an overly competitive heat to start off in. Tribal Glory finished a fair second over track and trip last month and he should be involved with improvement likely. Captain's Pick heads the remainder.
TRIBAL GLORY is the percentage call on the back of his C&D bumper debut second, although a strong market move for Archie Watson newcomer Ridge Hill would put a slightly different slant on things. Kilbeggan runner-up Captain's Pick should also have a say on first outing for new trainer Christian Williams.
This may go the way of the newcomer RIDGE HILL. His Flat yard wins bumpers and this gelding is very well related.

1st (1) (1.5/1 +55%) Coolnaugh Haze |
1.5/1(+55%) | (1) Coolnaugh Haze 1.5/1, Made the frame all 5 starts for previous connections this year, latest when respectable fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) 46 days ago. Remains fairly treated and could be a player on debut for new yard here. First run since sold out of Hobbs and White yard for 22,000gns five weeks ago; e-w chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 -82%) Hiconic |
10/1(-82%) | (2) Hiconic 10/1, Down in the weights and back to form with a bang to win 2m handicaps at Warwick and over C&D earlier this summer. Not disgraced in hat-trick bid at Southwell since and likely to make presence felt. Good-ground wins at Warwick in May and Worcester in June; form dipped in hat-trick bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (9/1 -13%) Painless Potter |
9/1(-13%) | (9) Painless Potter 9/1, Acquitted himself well over timber this summer, latest when third of 8 in handicap over C&D (good) 21 days ago. 1 lb lower now and not taken lightly. 2nd in two C&D maiden hurdles; respectable third of eight in C&D handicap three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (5.5/1 +35%) Tedwin Hills |
5.5/1(+35%) | (10) Tedwin Hills 5.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden who put a disappointing handicap debut behind him when good fourth of 14 at Plumpton (15.9f, good to firm) in May. This looks tougher but he merits consideration. Had wind operation. Wind surgery since latest start and needs improvement but these are relatively early days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (18/1 -50%) Mix Of Clover |
18/1(-50%) | (5) Mix Of Clover 18/1, Dual hurdles/chase winner who disappointed in 3 starts last year but shaped encouragingly on back of 8 months off when fourth in C&D handicap in June. However, wasn't in same form here last month and has something to prove now. Nearer his old form when 3l fourth to Hiconic over C&D; soft ground against him latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (12/1 +14%) State Of Bliss |
12/1(+14%) | (8) State Of Bliss 12/1, Won at fourth time of asking over hurdles in 4-runner Fakenham maiden in June but finished well held in C&D handicap last time and looks on a stiff mark at present. Tongue strap on first time. Well beaten here on soft ground on his handicap hurdle debut; tongue tied first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (40/1 -43%) Anger Management |
40/1(-43%) | (11) Anger Management 40/1, Caused an upset in 4-runner juvenile event at Huntingdon in October but rather gone backwards since and offered little on return from 6-month absence on Flat recently. Pulled up in a handicap in February; well beaten in recent Flat run in his only race since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (12/1 -41%) Restandbethankful |
12/1(-41%) | (7) Restandbethankful 12/1, Back to winning ways over fences at Market Rasen in June and ran to similar level when second of 8 in handicap chase (6/1) at Perth (16f, good to soft) 20 days ago, no match for winner. Back over smaller obstacles now and others more appealing. Last good show over hurdles was a win off 18lb higher in December 2021; chase 2nd latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (6/1 -50%) Kenzai Warrior |
6/1(-50%) | (3) Kenzai Warrior 6/1, Fairly useful winner on Flat who made frame for the third time in this sphere when second of 10 in novice over C&D (good) 68 days ago. Returns to handicaps now and holds solid claims. Heavy defeat on soft in his only handicap hurdle; needs overall improvement in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (22/1 -100%) No Recollection |
22/1(-100%) | (6) No Recollection 22/1, Scored for second time over this C&D when landing handicap in June but well held both starts since and has work to do off current mark. Far from the most consistent but won both his appearances at Worcester, latest a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (4) (25/1 -25%) Jack The Savage |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Jack The Savage 25/1, Posted encouraging third on hurdles bow at Plumpton in February. Not really built on that since but remains low mileage and may do better now sent handicapping. 147 days off before this handicap hurdle debut and needs to show something new. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (80/1 +0%) Chasamax |
80/1(+0%) | (12) Chasamax 80/1, Three-time winner in this sphere for Nicky Henderson (including over C&D) but ended time with that yard below par and has continued in the same vein for current stable. With new yard this year and nowhere near his old form; dropped 24lb in the process. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NO RECOLLECTION was beaten 30 lengths at Market Rasen last month, but that was a better race and he drops in class now returned to the scene of his only two victories over hurdles. A lightly-raced five-year-old owned by the Worcester Racing Club, he could prove too strong for the interesting Tedwin Hills, who finished a promising fourth at Plumpton in May and is open to plenty of improvement. Chasamax is very well handicapped on his better form and could surprise a few, while Hiconic may try to make all and won't prove easy to catch if getting an easy lead.
Preference is for KENZAI WARRIOR, who was a solid second here in June and returns to handicap company on a fair mark. Painless Potter and Coolnaugh Haze can also make their presence felt.
Hiconic and Coolnaugh Haze were first and second over C&D in June but watch out also for fourth-placed MIX OF CLOVER.

1st (2) (4/1 +47%) Craven Bay |
4/1(+47%) | (2) Craven Bay 4/1, Won final 2 starts in points in May 2022 and is progressing gradually over hurdles, third in 10-runner C&D maiden on most recent outing. Merits consideration. Has shown ability in his three hurdles races but more will be needed to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (2.25/1 -13%) Sforza Castle |
2.25/1(-13%) | (7) Sforza Castle 2.25/1, Took another step forward when third of 11 in novice hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f, soft, 13/2) 31 days ago. Step up in trip likely to suit and must enter calculations. Best last time when front-running 3rd of 11 at Market Rasen (2m4f, soft) and rallied well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (4/1 +0%) Shandancer |
4/1(+0%) | (8) Shandancer 4/1, Fair in bumpers and of a similar level over hurdles, adding another placed effort to his collection when third at this course (20f) 26 days ago. Visor on for 1st time. New headgear; in serious calculations but 17 races without a win is the main worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (2/1 +20%) Seinesational |
2/1(+20%) | (6) Seinesational 2/1, Consistent performer who produced another creditable effort after 8 months off when runner-up in a C&D maiden 33 days ago, the lack of a recent run coupled with an untimely error at the last proving his undoing. Highly likely to be on the premises again. Expensive to follow as hurdler but five seconds from his nine attempts, including over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 -60%) Red River Valley |
12/1(-60%) | (5) Red River Valley 12/1, Off the mark in Irish points at the second attempt but ran to just a poor level in a Stratford bumper on Rules debut 17 months ago and not seen since. Tongue strap fitted for this belated hurdle debut. Irish point win; never dangerous in bumper at Stratford (2m, good) in March 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (125/1 -25%) Claude Almighty |
125/1(-25%) | (1) Claude Almighty 125/1, Well held in bumpers/completed start over hurdles. Off 9 months. Beaten at least 29l in two bumpers and when wearing cheekpieces in two 2m4f hurdles races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (125/1 -56%) Princess Priya |
125/1(-56%) | (10) Princess Priya 125/1, Modest in bumpers but showed nothing on Southwell hurdling/stable last November. Significantly up in trip. Two bits of modest form but she needs to show something of a very different order. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (50/1 -52%) It's A Love Thing |
50/1(-52%) | (4) It's A Love Thing 50/1, Fair handicapper on Flat (stays 1¼m) who was given a considerate introduction to hurdling at Stratford last month and will likely be brought along steadily. AW Flat wins; last of eight on hurdling debut at Stratford (2m, good) seven weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (150/1 -355%) Champagne Kiss |
150/1(-355%) | (9) Champagne Kiss 150/1, Bollin Eric mare. Dam (c93) point winner/maiden under Rules. Market can guide. Dam winning pointer, half-sister to useful sprinter Jimmy Too; worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (200/1 -150%) Isle Of Oir |
200/1(-150%) | (3) Isle Of Oir 200/1, Shaped promisingly when runner-up in a Punchestown bumper for S. Curling back in March 2021. However, has offered very little both starts over hurdles since then. 2nd in Irish bumper 2021 (heavy); long absences before pulled up in two 2m maiden hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SEINESATIONAL is an obvious contender after his course and distance second in mid-July and if he improves for that first start of the season, then he could prove difficult to beat. Red River Valley has to be of some interest after winning a point-to-point in 2021 and he is one to consider on his hurdling bow, while Craven Bay seemed better suited by this trip when third last month and only has three and a half lengths to find with the selection on that form.
SFORZA CASTLE has progressed with each start to date and, with potentially more to come now stepping up in trip, he's an appealing candidate in what looks a winnable race. Seinesational is fully exposed but ought to be on the premises again, while Craven Bay has a similarly progressive profile to the selection and must enter calculations, also.
The leading contenders on hurdles form may be the ones to concentrate on. SFORZA CASTLE looked ready for this step up in trip last time.

1st (9) (2.5/1 +33%) Karavomylos |
2.5/1(+33%) | (9) Karavomylos 2.5/1, Has shown improved form upped in trip switched to handicaps this season, getting off the mark at Uttoxeter (23.3f) before good third of 12 over C&D 43 days ago. The one to beat with more to come. Fair third when 11-10 over C&D latest; needs to improve on that in today's first headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (12/1 -50%) Classic Concorde |
12/1(-50%) | (7) Classic Concorde 12/1, On a long losing run but he posted a creditable third of 7 to Hungry Hill in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Possibilities. Minor honours over hurdles at Worcester (C&D) and Uttoxeter on last two outings. |

11th (10) (12/1 +25%) Angels Landing |
12/1(+25%) | (10) Angels Landing 12/1, Fair maiden hurdler who wasn't discredited when fourth of 9 in handicap at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good) 23 days ago. Significantly up in trip. No forlorn hope. 0-11 over hurdles; steps up from 2m with stamina in major doubt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
D'jango is better handicapped over hurdles here than he would be over fences and, as a course-and-distance winner, he could go close, but it seems unlikely he can get the better of KARAVOMYLOS. A consistent four-year-old who came home third here off this mark last month when bidding for a double, he represents an in-form Peter Bowen yard and he may add another winner to his tally today. Hungry Hill and Angels Landing may be the ones to chase them home.
A few with chances but KARAVOMYLOS is on the up since sent over staying trips and fancied to build on his C&D third and resume winning ways. Hungry Hill is another progressive type so he rates a big threat on the back of his Uttoxeter success, while Kapitaliste and Broomfields Cave warrant plenty of respect too in a competitive handicap.
The headgear has to be worth a go on BROOMFIELDS CAVE judged on his performance at Uttoxeter in the race won by Hungry Hill.
Ths is the racecard key.
