1st (1) (2/1 -150%) Judge Earle |
2/1(-150%) | (1) Judge Earle 2/1, Prolific over fences last summer, winning 5 times. Heavy defeats previous 5 starts prior to taking advantage of reduced mark in emphatic fashion at Uttoxeter 8 days ago. Hard to beat under a penalty if in similar form. Back to form when thrashing rivals last week; obvious claims under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (14/1 -115%) Sermando |
14/1(-115%) | (2) Sermando 14/1, Positive start for this yard when winning 7-runner handicap hurdle at Fakenham (20f, good to firm) and backed that up when third here last month. However, bit to prove back over fences (novicey mistakes when well held on sole chase start over a year ago). Hurdle win on stable debut and fair run next time; pulled up only previous chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4.5/1 +50%) No Worries |
4.5/1(+50%) | (5) No Worries 4.5/1, Won 3 times over hurdles in 2021/22 season and struck on Ludlow chase debut in November. Failed to complete next 2 runs but hinted at a revival when fourth over C&D 3 weeks ago. Cheekpieces back on. Won on chasing debut but not so good since; fourth over C&D latest; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/1 +21%) Barely Famous |
11/1(+21%) | (4) Barely Famous 11/1, Dual hurdles winner in the autumn but has looked a little short of fitness in 3 starts for this yard, again found wanting in the latter stages when fifth of 9 in handicap chase at Worcester (20f, good to soft) on debut over fences 29 days ago. Well beaten on C&D chasing debut last month and plenty to prove for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (1.62/1 +60%) Jet Smart |
1.62/1(+60%) | (3) Jet Smart 1.62/1, Runner-up only outing in Irish points and got back on track switched to fences when second of 6 in handicap chase at this course (23f, good to soft) 29 days ago, clear of rest. Remains low mileage. Second on chasing debut here last month; could improve on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/1 +0%) Talkingthetalk |
11/1(+0%) | (6) Talkingthetalk 11/1, Third in a Wexford maiden hurdle for Leonard Whitmore last summer but showed little for this yard the remainder of the season. However, off the mark on second start over fences at Uttoxeter (20f) last month before shaping like a non-stayer here (23f) since. 1 lb out of handicap. Won two starts ago but long way behind Jet Smart latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
With his stable and jockey riding the crest of a wave, it's hard to escape the claims held by the veteran JUDGE EARLE, who bounded to a wide-margin success at Uttoxeter eight days ago. Under a 7lb penalty, he has a live chance of following up. He is already a dual course winner and can give the Bowens another day to remember. Jet Smart and Talkingthetalk both have scope to improve over fences and head the list of dangers.
JUDGE EARLE took advantage of his reduced mark in emphatic fashion at Uttoxeter last week so has obvious claims under a penalty. No Worries hinted at a revival when fourth over C&D 3 weeks ago so may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Jet Smart.
A repeat of last week's Uttoxeter win would make JUDGE EARLE hard to beat.

1st (3) (6/1 +33%) Tiger Orchid |
6/1(+33%) | (3) Tiger Orchid 6/1, Won twice over hurdles last season and produced a career best when making a winning start over fences over C&D last month. Held back by errors back here 17 days ago and he needs to cut that habit out. C&D winner on chase debut and mistake cost him next time; ground a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (5/1 +58%) Fairlawn Flyer |
5/1(+58%) | (9) Fairlawn Flyer 5/1, Made it 4-4 over fences at Ffos Las when landing a 23.8f handicap (heavy) in first-time cheekpieces in December. Form has gone the wrong way since then, merely plugging on for third of 5 at Market Rasen 18 days ago. Not at best in recent starts; something to prove but now on a very good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3.33/1 -33%) Bagheera Ginge |
3.33/1(-33%) | (2) Bagheera Ginge 3.33/1, Steadily progressive over hurdles last term, scoring at Stratford and Newton Abbot. Shaped as if amiss sent chasing at Kempton and fell next start but much more like it when second to a well-treated rival over 20f here last month. Up in trip. Second over 2m4f here last month and that form has worked out very well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -80%) Pottlerath |
18/1(-80%) | (4) Pottlerath 18/1, Successful 3 times over hurdles during 2022 and sprouted wings over fences in recent months, completing the hat-trick at Bangor (3m, good). Rare laboured display over C&D 17 days ago but he's fancied to bounce back. Winning run ended with heavy defeat over C&D this month; could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (4.5/1 +18%) Biowavego |
4.5/1(+18%) | (8) Biowavego 4.5/1, Bounced back following a couple of tame efforts when landing a Warwick handicap (25f, good to firm) over hurdles in May. Fair start to chase career when third at Uttoxeter a month ago and no surprise were he to build on that. Behind Gats And Co on chasing debut but could do a lot better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (7/1 -56%) Captain Tommy |
7/1(-56%) | (6) Captain Tommy 7/1, Capitalised on a freefalling mark in no uncertain terms when running away with a 3m handicap chase at Bangor (good) in May. Similar form when second at Stratford a fortnight later and fared about as well as could be expected from out of the weights latest. Back to form three starts ago and two fair efforts since; realistic claims in this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (4/1 +11%) Gats And Co |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Gats And Co 4/1, Really got his act together in 2022, winning 4 staying handicap chases on the bounce. Patchy form since, but he's below his last successful mark and a couple of runner-up efforts confirm he's back on good nick. Hasn't really recovered last year's form; probably needs better than recent second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (33/1 -10%) Fraternel |
33/1(-10%) | (7) Fraternel 33/1, Fair winner at 20f over hurdles but extremely lightly raced over fences in recent times and he has an awful lot to prove. Well beaten in both starts this year after a long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Pottlerath is a dual track winner and is high on the shortlist, while Tiger Orchid won over C&D last month and is considered, despite being held off this mark back here 17 days ago. However, preference is for BIOWAVEGO, who is unexposed as a chaser and is well treated in comparison to his rating over timber. The son of Presenting is likely to be a lot wiser after last month's debut over fences and improvement can be expected.
BAGHEERA GINGE split next-time-out winners when runner-up over this C&D a month ago, and with this trip not expected to be a problem, he looks the most persuasive option. Captain Tommy and Gats And Co head the opposition.
The form of last month's course second makes BAGHEERA GINGE (nap) of great interest.

1st (3) (6.5/1 -95%) Fanfaron Dino |
6.5/1(-95%) | (3) Fanfaron Dino 6.5/1, Weak in the betting but produced his best effort to date when successful at Fontwell (17.7f, good to firm) in May. However, not the most consistent and he ran well below that level back at that venue in June, finding little. Return to softer ground should hold no fears on back of 6 weeks off. Tailed off latest; previous form, including on soft, gives him a solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (1.38/1 +69%) Alioski |
1.38/1(+69%) | (7) Alioski 1.38/1, C&D maiden winner 13 months ago who matched that level when third of 8 in novices' handicap hurdle at Sandown (2m, soft) in December. Fit from couple of spins on Flat in recent months and good showing not ruled out back over timber. Fair AW efforts since a break and ran well on soft ground when last seen over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7.5/1 -67%) Fandabidozi |
7.5/1(-67%) | (5) Fandabidozi 7.5/1, Modest stayer on the Flat who matched previous best over hurdles when third in a Stratford maiden (16.3f) 23 days ago, upsides briefly 2 out and no extra run-in. Claims of making the frame again partnered by Harry Cobden. Consistent but not really improving and 1-31 in career; stable in fine form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (12/1 -243%) Mix Of Clover |
12/1(-243%) | (2) Mix Of Clover 12/1, Dual hurdles/chase winner who disappointed in 3 starts last year but arrives here having shaped encouragingly on back of 8 months off when fourth of in C&D handicap hurdle 5 weeks ago. Could well be worth chancing to build on that now. Ran well over C&D last month; claims on that but ground a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3.33/1 +17%) State Of Bliss |
3.33/1(+17%) | (4) State Of Bliss 3.33/1, Fairly useful on Flat for the Johnston stable and made most of good opportunity to open hurdles account in 4-runner Fakenham maiden (2m) in June. Below best returned to the level at Goodwood (14f) but no surprise to see a better showing now handicapping in this sphere. Handicap debut; won Fakenham maiden last month; beaten on Flat since; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (6/1 +50%) Peace Of Rome |
6/1(+50%) | (1) Peace Of Rome 6/1, Fair in bumpers and similar form over hurdles for Nicky Henderson, fourth in a 23f handicap here when last seen in May. Changed hands for £31,000 thereafter but marked drop back in trip may not suit ideally here. Disappointed in two handicaps; down in trip for stable debut; enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (40/1 +20%) Chasamax |
40/1(+20%) | (6) Chasamax 40/1, Three-time winner in this sphere for Nicky Henderson (including over C&D) but ended time with that yard below par and has continued in the same vein for current stable. Others make more appeal. Three wins for Nicky Henderson but little for this yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The versatile STATE OF BLISS has more to offer over hurdles and, as he had plenty in hand when landing a maiden at Fakenham last month, he rates a key player on his handicap hurdle debut. Admittedly, the runner-up from that race didn't do much for the form on his next start, which creates hope for the likes of Fanfaron Dino and Mix Of Clover, who are both capable of giving the selection plenty to think about despite being more exposed.
MIX OF CLOVER shaped encouragingly on the back of an 8-month absence when fourth in a C&D handicap 5 weeks ago from his much-reduced mark and he could be worth siding with to build on that here. Fanfaron Dino, back from a short break, and Alioski are others to consider. State of Bliss is another in the mix on handicap hurdle debut.
This might be the chance for ALIOSKI to gain a second success over hurdles.

1st (4) (1.25/1 +72%) En Avant |
1.25/1(+72%) | (4) En Avant 1.25/1, Modest hurdler. Unseated rider 1st in handicap hurdle (7/2) at Bangor (19.6f, good) 47 days ago on his final run for Louise Lyons. Tongue strap on 1st time. Needs considering for his new yard. Placed on soft in Ireland; stable debut with tongue-strap on; needs close market watch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (10/1 -11%) Shengai Enki |
10/1(-11%) | (9) Shengai Enki 10/1, Fair form in bumpers for Mark O'Hare. Sold for £28.000 and hinted at promise on hurdle/stable debut when fourth of 7 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 16 days ago. Can take a step forward. Disappointing stable/hurdle debut when fourth at Uttoxeter; one of two runners for yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (5/1 +0%) Star Legend |
5/1(+0%) | (10) Star Legend 5/1, Fair form on the Flat for William Haggas. Off 7 months before posting an encouraging third of 7 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy, 7/2) on NH debut 16 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Considered. Too free when third on recent hurdle debut and could do much better in a hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (33/1 +50%) Malago Rose |
33/1(+50%) | (11) Malago Rose 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Creditable fourth of 9 in novice hurdle (50/1) at this C&D (good to soft) 29 days ago, running on late. Sort to do better once handicapping over further. Fourth over C&D last month but others have better credentials. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (25/1 +0%) Valparaiso |
25/1(+0%) | (8) Valparaiso 25/1, Fairly useful on the Flat for Marcus Tregoning. Off 2 years and not disgraced sent hurdling, cheekpieces on when fourth of 11 in novice hurdle at Newton Abbot (18.5f, good to soft) 10 days ago. Not ruled out. Has shaped with some promise in both hurdle starts after long absence; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (8/1 +11%) Came From Nothing |
8/1(+11%) | (2) Came From Nothing 8/1, 11/1, encouraging fourth of 12 in novice hurdle at Bangor (16.7f, good) on hurdles bow 47 days ago, finishing well. Has more to offer. Well in the mix. Shaped well when fourth on hurdle debut; should improve but this needs a deal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (10/1 -67%) Tip Top Tonto |
10/1(-67%) | (7) Tip Top Tonto 10/1, Fair maiden hurdler but he proved a disappointment after a year off when only third of 6 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, 11/8) 35 days ago. In the mix if getting back on track. Strong claims on last year's form but well-beaten third on return from 11 months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (9/1 -50%) Democritus |
9/1(-50%) | (3) Democritus 9/1, Fair maiden hurdler who took his form up a notch when excellent second of 8 in novice hurdle (14/1) at Warwick (19f, good to soft) 91 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Leading form claims. Leading claims on his Warwick second three months ago; cheekpieces fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (40/1 -186%) Borderline |
40/1(-186%) | (1) Borderline 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Off 7 months before fading sixth of 9 in novice hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 23 days ago. Can build on it now. Placed in bumper but well beaten on this month's hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (10/1 -150%) Six And Out |
10/1(-150%) | (6) Six And Out 10/1, Runner-up on all his three bumper runs, tongue strap on for 1st time in 4-runner event at Market Rasen (16.6f, good, 4/7) 34 days ago. Much resptected on his hurdles debut. Second in all three bumpers; hurdle debut and yet to meet soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (125/1 -213%) Rock D'ete |
125/1(-213%) | (5) Rock D'ete 125/1, £2,000 6-y-o, Kap Rock gelding. Dam 15f hurdle winner in France. Wears hood. Off mark in points at the third attempt (May 7) so not ruled out now going hurdling. Won modest maiden point in May; hurdle/stable debut; probably best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Runner-up on each of his three starts in bumpers, SIX AND OUT has shown more than enough ability to suggest that he can go well in this sphere. This looks like a winnable opportunity on his hurdles debut, with the capable yet inconsistent Tip Top Tonto and Warwick runner-up Democritus looking best placed to chase him home. En Avant and Shengai Enki can also have a say in proceedings.
A few with chances but Jo Davis' DEMOCRITUS holds the clear edge on the form of his Warwick second so can go one better now after a break. Came From Nothing shaped well when a debut Bangor fourth and could emerge as the chief threat, with hurdling-newcomer Six And Out not discounted given his fair bumper form.
In the hope that a hood has the right effect, STAR LEGEND is taken to build on his recent debut effort.

1st (3) (0.4/1 +84%) Nadim |
0.4/1(+84%) | (3) Nadim 0.4/1, Has shown improved form with cheekpieces on last 2 starts, winning at Stratford (18.7f) before following up at Market Rasen (16.6f) 5 days ago. Did well under circumstances last time having been shuffled back after 3 out, so he's respected under a penalty. Recent wins at Stratford and Market Rasen and every chance in hat-trick bid; up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (5.5/1 +78%) Jolie Baie |
5.5/1(+78%) | (9) Jolie Baie 5.5/1, Down the field in a Huntingdon bumper on debut and only mild encouragement so far over hurdles. In first-time hood, couldn't justify support (9/1) when finishing fourth of 9 at this course (2m) on handicap debut 17 days ago. Back up in trip. Fourth over 2m here on this month's handicap debut; 9lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8.5/1 +39%) Shandancer |
8.5/1(+39%) | (1) Shandancer 8.5/1, Fair bumper performer in Ireland and he's reached a similar level over hurdles, producing best effort when second at Fontwell (21.7f) in May. Runner-up again at Stratford next time, but not in the same form in first-time blinkers at Southwell last month. Bounce back called for. Plenty of form in maidens and handicaps but disappointing effort latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (8.5/1 +66%) Citizen Jane |
8.5/1(+66%) | (8) Citizen Jane 8.5/1, Little form over hurdles for Tom Symonds and, despite winning a point in between, failed to offer much encouragement on Rules debut for this yard at Uttoxeter (23.2f) in June. Shaped better when mid-field at this course (2m) last time, but further improvement required. Shaped well over 2m here latest; could do better at this trip if handling soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (50/1 +0%) Secret Moss |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Secret Moss 50/1, Has shown little in bumpers/over hurdles so far, finishing well held after 16 months off when fifth of 8 on handicap debut at Stratford 23 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Well beaten all starts, including on handicap debut this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 +34%) Barnay |
66/1(+34%) | (6) Barnay 66/1, Hurdles winner for Jennie Candlish but form has gone the wrong way over fences for his current yard this year, pulled up last 2 starts (reportedly bled on his latest outing). Cheekpieces back on, but has enough to prove returned to hurdling. Out of form in chases in the spring; lot to prove on return from a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Similar to his stable, NADIM can do little wrong at present and the hat-trick looks very much on the cards for the four-year-old, with the step up in trip expected to bring about further improvement. A comfortable winner over C&D in June, Best Mate Dave looks to be his main danger, ahead of Painless Potter, who has been second here on two of his last three starts.
In a first-time tongue tie, MY GIFT TO YOU proved a different proposition on his stable/handicap debut when getting off the mark in good style at Southwell 2 days ago, so he can score again if making the quick turnaround. Nadim arrives bidding for a hat-trick and is the main danger, with Painless Potter completing the shortlist.
After an easy win on Tuesday, it is hard to oppose MY GIFT TO YOU.

1st (5) (4.5/1 +25%) Champ Royal |
4.5/1(+25%) | (5) Champ Royal 4.5/1, Several creditable efforts in Ireland for Colm Murphy. Yet to match that form for current stable but there was a bit more encouragement in his latest effort at this course. Too well handicapped to ignore. Best of four runs for yard when fifth over 2m4f here this month; could figure. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4.5/1 +25%) Kapitaliste |
4.5/1(+25%) | (6) Kapitaliste 4.5/1, Made the frame first 2 starts this term but needs to bounce back from a tame display (pulled up) at this course last month. Runner-up on first three visits here but was pulled up on latest start on the track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (50/1 +24%) Off The Planet |
50/1(+24%) | (7) Off The Planet 50/1, Record became distinctly patchy for Philip Hobbs, tailed off when falling 3 out at Warwick in spring 2022. Unsuccessful in points subsequently and debut for current stable was uninspiring. Not totally disgraced on stable debut but no great appeal back up in trip for this maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (4/1 +43%) Alberic |
4/1(+43%) | (8) Alberic 4/1, Scored over hurdles and fences in early 2022 and signs of a return to form when fourth in a handicap chaser at Fontwell 78 days ago. Claims if he can build on that back over timber. Ran well enough twice in the spring to have chances if he stays this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (10/1 +17%) Twilight Girl |
10/1(+17%) | (2) Twilight Girl 10/1, Fair hurdler/chaser in Ireland at her peak. Dropping in the weights and, while not firing lately, she represents an in-form stable and has cheekpieces applied for the first time. Three point wins this year but unplaced in two recent hurdle starts, the latest over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (22/1 -38%) Fierami |
22/1(-38%) | (3) Fierami 22/1, Fair winner at 21f over hurdles but failed to match that level sent chasing last year and not a great deal of encouragement on both starts for current stable. Return to hurdling might help. Well beaten in two chases; only win (on heavy ground) came in February 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (12/1 +52%) Stripe Of Honour |
12/1(+52%) | (10) Stripe Of Honour 12/1, Sagged his second course success when landing 12-runner handicap (20f) in May but hasn't been in the same form since. Inconsistent but has won twice around here at huge odds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (22/1 +12%) Phoebus Lescribaa |
22/1(+12%) | (11) Phoebus Lescribaa 22/1, Veteran who struggled over hurdles last season and fell in a handicap at Stratford on chasing debut a couple of months ago. Plenty to prove. Not in great form earlier this year and both hurdle wins gained on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (16/1 -45%) Punches Cross |
16/1(-45%) | (9) Punches Cross 16/1, Useful handicap chaser at best for Joseph Patrick O'Brien but form has gone the wrong way for his current trainer. Best watched returning to hurdling. Unplaced in ten British chases; first hurdle start for five years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (5/1 -43%) Sylvies Dance |
5/1(-43%) | (1) Sylvies Dance 5/1, Winner in points who was well prepared to make a successful return to the track at Newton Abbot last month. Creditable third at Southwell since and seems likely to be on the premises. Newton Abbot novice winner but beaten 20l+ in a handicap since; may still figure. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (8/1 -7%) Blackjacktennessee |
8/1(-7%) | (12) Blackjacktennessee 8/1, Long-standing maiden who was pulled up in a handicap chase at this course last time and makes little appeal returning to the smaller obstacles. 0-30 in career and hasn't run over hurdles for more than five years. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KAPITALISTE may have been a major disappointment when pulling up here last time, but he had been in good form before that and stepping back up in trip could work the oracle. Similar comments apply to the unexposed Sylvies Dance, who is better than showing at Southwell most recently, while Blackjacktennessee is another capable of bouncing back to his best. Alberic and Punches Cross are on the shortlist also.
CHAMP ROYAL is well treated on his Irish form and his latest fifth at this course was the best form he's shown for his current stable, so he gets the tentative vote in a race that lacks depth. In-form Sylvies Dance is a threat and Alberic is of interest back over hurdles.
Dual C&D winner SHEILA NASH showed enough on her latest start to earn the vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
