Tribesmans Glory |
(5) (12/1 -50%)12/1(-50%) | (5) Tribesmans Glory 12/1, Fair winning chaser for Tom George in 2020 and belatedly opened account for this yard when narrowly prevailing at Warwick (2½m, good to soft) last time. 4 lb rise fair enough and will be a threat, provided the likely faster surface here doesn't count against him. Ended a losing run going back to October 2020 when winning at Warwick in May.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (11) (12/1 -50%) She Has Notions |
12/1(-50%) | (11) She Has Notions 12/1, Little in the way of solid form over hurdles and while he wasn't entirely disgraced starting out in this sphere at Hereford in January, it would be an understatement to say that he failed to build on that next time. Has showed little in two starts over fences and best watched on first run since February.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 -25%) Jac Jumper |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Jac Jumper 5/1, Hurdles winner and placed over fences for Francois Nicolle in France. No show first 4 starts in handicap hurdles for this yard but just touched off by Calvic over this C&D returned to the larger obstacles 18 days ago. 1 lb better off with that rival now and it should again be close between them. Short-headed by Calvic on return to fences here last month; chance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 -33%) Gone In Sixty |
10/1(-33%) | (6) Gone In Sixty 10/1, Remains a maiden following 20 starts overall but boasts bits and pieces of form which look solid in the context of this race, including when third off reduced mark over C&D (good to soft) last time. Should make his presence felt once more. Respectable third over C&D last month on return to chasing but others are preferred.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/1 -56%) Calvic |
7/1(-56%) | (2) Calvic 7/1, Off the mark at second attempt for new yard when taking 8-runner handicap chase at Huntingdon in March. Doubled his tally in this sphere when collaring Jac Jumper close home in first-time cheekpieces (retained) over C&D recently. More needed up 6 lb but he should be in the mix nonetheless. Got up in final strides to deny Jac Jumper over C&D last month; may win again.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (100/1 -525%) Silver Atom |
100/1(-525%) | (12) Silver Atom 100/1, Tasted success on the Flat at Bath last year and several creditable efforts over hurdles in recent months. However, it's hard to take any positives from his recent chase debut display. Less encouraging recently and always behind on chasing debut ten days ago.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (100/1 -614%) Sevenofus |
100/1(-614%) | (9) Sevenofus 100/1, Point winner who was placed several times over hurdles and also in the money both completed starts in this sphere. Far from disgraced back hurdling at Newton Abbot (26.5f, good) last time but will need to raise her game back over fences if she's to finally open her Rules account. Placed at Taunton in February and March; has each-way claims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (400/1 -900%) Always Force It |
400/1(-900%) | (8) Always Force It 400/1, Shaped well in pair of handicap hurdles for Gavin Cromwell last autumn but no show in 6 starts for present yard, including switched to fences the last twice. 0-12 and well beaten on his two starts over fences; others more persuasive.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (200/1 -700%) Drumlees Pet |
200/1(-700%) | (14) Drumlees Pet 200/1, Winless following 5 attempts between the flags and 0-7 in this sphere after finishing out with the washing in first-time cheekpieces in a 3m Warwick handicap chase in April. 15 months off before soundly beaten in April in her two runs over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (13) (22/1 -57%) Testflight |
22/1(-57%) | (13) Testflight 22/1, Bettered his low-key chase debut when third of 9 at Wincanton in October. Recent run over hurdles in Jersey will have blown away the cobwebs but he's 4 lb 'wrong' at the weights and will need to improve in order to shed his maiden tag here. 0-15 under rules; respectable third over fences at Wincanton last October.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (80/1 -471%) Legostar |
80/1(-471%) | (10) Legostar 80/1, Winning pointer but has shown little promise under Rules (in bumpers and over hurdles). Visor applied for this chase debut and he's hard to warm to. 1-9 in points; showed little in his four starts over hurdles; makes chasing debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (250/1 -279%) Willwekeephim |
250/1(-279%) | (7) Willwekeephim 250/1, Little impact over hurdles for this yard and will need to take a big step forward now switched to the larger obstacles. Makes chasing debut but well beaten on all starts in bumpers and over hurdles.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (300/1 -4515%) Somekindofstar |
300/1(-4515%) | (3) Somekindofstar 300/1, Lost his way for Charlie Longsdon but has finished in the money on 2 of his 3 starts for this yard, most recently finishing third of 8 in a Fakenham handicap chase (16.3f, good). Eased 3 lb and this step up in trip could work in his favour, so there is cause for optimism. Respectable third at Fakenham four weeks ago on first start in six months.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (400/1 -7900%) Best Mate Dave |
400/1(-7900%) | (4) Best Mate Dave 400/1, Made a winning handicap debut over hurdles here (2½m, good) last June and went close on his next appearance. Didn't shape at all badly following an 8-month absence/wind op when fourth back here over 23f last month and he could have a part to play if taking to fences at the first attempt. Had wind surgery before his fourth here one month ago; chasing debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The application of first-time cheekpieces got more out of last month's C&D winner Calvic. He must enter calculations, but a 6lb higher mark leaves him vulnerable and it might be worth taking a chance on SOMEKINDOFSTAR, who arrives on the back of a staying-on third over an extended 2m at Fakenham. The Matt Crawley-trained veteran should relish a return to this distance and a fifth career victory could beckon. Tribesmans Glory makes most appeal of the remainder.
While supporting a 20-race maiden is generally risky business, in the case of GONE IN SIXTY such a leap of faith is not required. Indeed, the 7-y-o has shown more than enough to suggest that he has a race of this nature in him off this sort of mark. Best Mate Dave is interesting on his debut in this sphere and is feared most ahead of Jac Jumper, who may well reverse recent C&D placings with Calvic. Tribesmans Glory was a winner last time and also enters calculations.
The most convincing form is the race here last month in which CALVIC got up on the line to beat Jac Jumper by a short head.

1st (3) (8/1 -33%) Hidden Depths |
8/1(-33%) | (3) Hidden Depths 8/1, Proved better than ever when doubling his chase tally at Sedgefield in October and respectable efforts over fences/on Flat next 2 starts. Shaped as if better for the run after 7 months off/following wind op at Bath 24 days ago and better showing anticipated. 2-6 over fences; suited by good ground and a possible on second run after wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 +23%) Almazhar Garde |
5/1(+23%) | (5) Almazhar Garde 5/1, Finished runner-up 3 times earlier this year and belatedly cashed in off his much-reduced mark to end lengthy losing run at Bangor (3m) 23 days ago, asserting from 2f out and keeping on well. Overall record suggests he's not an obvious type to follow up, however. Ended losing run latest; conditions suit and not ruled out despite going back up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (33/1 -560%) Goose Man |
33/1(-560%) | (2) Goose Man 33/1, Useful chaser for Tom Taaffe who was able to defy a lay-off of fully 32 months to win selling handicap hurdle on the bridle at Huntingdon in November. Mixed bag over fences since, plugging on for fourth at Fakenham (21.2f) 4 weeks ago. Won selling hurdle after 972 days off in November; fair form chasing since; on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (33/1 -725%) Bbold |
33/1(-725%) | (4) Bbold 33/1, Holding form well for this yard and ended a losing run dropped back in trip when landing 8-runner Stratford handicap chase (22.6f) 2 weeks ago, asserting final 50 yds. Rates a big player from 6 lb higher mark. Consistent this summer, winning over 2m6f latest (sound form); back up 6lb; obvious chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (150/1 -4900%) Ajp Kingdom |
150/1(-4900%) | (1) Ajp Kingdom 150/1, Bumper/3-time novice hurdle winner who left a trio of poor efforts in his wake when runner-up in a C&D handicap chase 18 days ago, that despite going right at most of his obstacles. Task is to build on that and player if doing so. Inconsistent but 3 hurdle wins last summer; back in form when 2nd over C&D latest; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (7) (100/1 -2122%) Urban Grit |
100/1(-2122%) | (7) Urban Grit 100/1, Modest maiden hurdler earlier in career. Fell in a hunter chase contest at Stratford (22.6f) 13 months ago but successful in points either side of that effort, runner-up last time (May 22). Booking of Harry Cobden catches the eye ahead of his handicap chase debut. Tongue tied. Fair hurdler for Olly Murphy; has since won 4 points; conditions suit; quite interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (100/1 -1011%) Yes Indeed |
100/1(-1011%) | (6) Yes Indeed 100/1, Fairly useful winning chaser in France and some decent placed efforts for this yard last year. Struggled to find best form earlier this year but did at least fare a little better fitted with a visor when fourth of 5 in handicap chase at Uttoxeter 25 days ago. Needs to build on that now. Chase winner in France in 2021; fair run in retained headgear last time; career-low mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BBOLD rolled back the years when scoring for the first time since 2022 at Stratford recently and the Daisy Hitchins-trained 10-year-old appeared to have enough in hand to suggest that he can defy a 6lb rise in the ratings. The biggest threat could be posed by last-time-out Bangor winner Almazhar Garde, although the class-dropping Ajp Kingdom returned to form with a solid second over track and trip and is a contender too.
BBOLD has been in good order since joining his present yard, well served by the drop back in trip when running out a convincing winner at Stratford 13 days ago. He's fancied to handle the 6 lb rise and come out on top again. Hidden Depths, with a reappearance spin on the Flat under his belt, and Ajp Kingdom may emerge as the chief threats.
In a trappy race BBOLD is taken to follow up his win at Stratford two weeks ago. Ajp Kingdom is another who should go well.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (300/1 -10809%) Hola Hermosa |
300/1(-10809%) | (2) Hola Hermosa 300/1, Well backed on debut when offering up little and showed why as she left that form well behind after 9 weeks off when third at Stratford. Could do better again. Stoutly bred; improved on debut when 3rd at Stratford last time; may improve again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (300/1 -6567%) Shakiyra |
300/1(-6567%) | (4) Shakiyra 300/1, Half-sister to fair 2m hurdle winner Call Me Tara, stays 2¼m. Dam placed in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to fairly useful staying hurdler/chaser Caddie Master. Backed off the boards but held back by inexperience when last of 5 at Newton Abbot nearly a year ago. Last of five when 4-9 for Newton Abbot bumper last July; not been out since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (400/1 -3900%) Put A Lid On It |
400/1(-3900%) | (10) Put A Lid On It 400/1, Dartmouth filly. Dam placed in French hurdles, half-sister to Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John. Of obvious interest on debut. 1 of 3 runners for the yard. By Dartmouth out of a mare who was placed over hurdles in France; not an obvious one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (250/1 -7043%) All Inn Hand |
250/1(-7043%) | (5) All Inn Hand 250/1, Sister to fair hurdler Maid On The Moon. Dam bumper/17f-2½m hurdle winner (stayed 23f), from family of Champion Hurdle winners Morley Street and Granville Again. Probably one for later on but offered a degree of short-term promise in Uttoxeter bumper (17/2) on recent debut. Promising 3rd behind 2 winning pointers on bumper debut last month; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (350/1 -600%) Lizzie's Star |
350/1(-600%) | (3) Lizzie's Star 350/1, Unplaced completed start in points (May 31). Some promise in two runs in British points; tougher task on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (400/1 -3900%) Kalize |
400/1(-3900%) | (9) Kalize 400/1, Prominent in the betting but achieved nothing on debut in Uttoxeter bumper fitted with tongue tie 12 weeks ago. Well beaten at 16-5 on bumper debut; has since had a wind op and may well fare better.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (400/1 -3233%) Granny Smith |
400/1(-3233%) | (8) Granny Smith 400/1, Unplaced on her sole outing in points but offered something to work on in Uttoxeter bumper (20/1) a fortnight ago. Ordinary form; has ground to make up on All Inn Hand on last month's Uttoxeter bumper run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (300/1 -1400%) County Royal |
300/1(-1400%) | (6) County Royal 300/1, Leading Light filly. Closely related to a winner, and half-sister to 3 winners, including fair hurdler/chaser Gentleman Duke, stayed 2½m. Dam ran once on Flat. By Leading Light; four of her siblings have won over jumps; worth a market check on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Hola Hermosa offered much more encouragement with her placed effort at Stratford and she isn't taken lightly. However, ALL INN HAND is entitled to build on her opening third at Uttoxeter and any improvement should make her difficult to pass. Point-to-point runner-up Back In The Bay possesses enough speed in her pedigree to suggest that she could play a part on her Rules debut, and the market may prove informative.
HOLA HERMOSA showed much more second time up at Stratford 6 weeks ago and might be able to open her account on the back of that. Stablemate Put A Lid On It and Queen of The Vale are interesting newcomers and the betting could be revealing.
Having shaped with a degree of promise on her debut at Uttoxeter the vote goes to ALL INN HAND. Hola Hermosa should also run well.

Spitfire Bridge |
(5) (40/1 -100%)40/1(-100%) | (5) Spitfire Bridge 40/1, Showed ability in bumpers but no impact on the Flat since and poor form when fifth on Huntingdon hurdle debut. Modest efforts in bumpers, on the Flat and over hurdles; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Brief Encounter |
(8) (100/1 -100%)100/1(-100%) | (8) Brief Encounter 100/1, Well held both starts in bumpers and pulled up on recent hurdle debut. Modest form in two bumpers; pulled up early after jockey lost his irons on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (8/11 +34%) Vocito |
8/11(+34%) | (2) Vocito 8/11, In good form for new yard, finishing second in a Perth maiden before going one better in a similar race over C&D 4 weeks later. Another bold show is on the cards. Off the mark on second start for Olly Murphy; not ruled out despite penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (350/1 -6264%) Captain Attridge |
350/1(-6264%) | (1) Captain Attridge 350/1, Came good on 2m Hereford handicap debut in May and better form when runner-up there 17 days later. Should be competitive under a penalty back in a novice. Fair form on the Flat and won Hereford novice handicap hurdle in May; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (100/1 -1567%) Moonscape Girl |
100/1(-1567%) | (12) Moonscape Girl 100/1, Left her first 2 efforts behind when springing an 80/1 surprise in Southwell bumper for Paul Webber in May. Has joined a good yard ahead of her hurdle debut and it'll be very interesting to see how she compares in the betting to new stablemate Vocito. Improved run when 80-1 winner of a bumper last time; interesting on hurdles/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (80/1 -789%) Molly Mischief |
80/1(-789%) | (11) Molly Mischief 80/1, Progressive in AW Flat handicaps this year, winning convincingly over 11f at Southwell in April. Possible testing ground was against her when pulled up on Southwell hurdle debut in May and could prove a different proposition now. 1m3f AW winner on the Flat; didn't show much on hurdles/turf debut; should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (250/1 -658%) Selectivelistening |
250/1(-658%) | (3) Selectivelistening 250/1, Well held on his completed starts in points and similar story in 2 C&D maiden hurdles last month. Looks more one for handicaps. Modest pointer who was well behind Vocito over C&D last time; looks more one for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (350/1 -3789%) Jazzmina Queen |
350/1(-3789%) | (6) Jazzmina Queen 350/1, From top yard but no show in bumper/novice hurdle. Stable in form but needs to improve after modest efforts in a bumper and a novice hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (300/1 -3900%) Jo's Rainbow |
300/1(-3900%) | (10) Jo's Rainbow 300/1, Fairly useful on Flat (stays 1¼m) for Karl Burke. Joined another leading stable for her hurdle career but shaped like a non-stayer on her first attempt at Hereford. 1m2f Flat winner; 20,000gns buy February; didn't get home on jumps debut; better expected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (300/1 -650%) Vertical |
300/1(-650%) | (7) Vertical 300/1, Poor maiden on Flat (stays 1¼m) for Dr Jon Scargill. A watching brief is advised on hurdle debut for new yard with a first-time hood added. Modest form at up to 1m3f on the Flat; best watched on stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (450/1 -1700%) Dawn Parade |
450/1(-1700%) | (9) Dawn Parade 450/1, Well held in a Huntingdon bumper in May and sent off at 80/1 when unseating at the first on her hurdle debut 17 days ago. Some promise in a bumper; unseated rider first on hurdles debut; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (250/1 -1686%) Sixfiveseven |
250/1(-1686%) | (4) Sixfiveseven 250/1, Fairly useful form when placed in maidens around 1¼m on Flat in France for Tim Donworth but tailed off when falling at the last on Fontwell hurdle debut in November for Syd Hosie. Has had wind surgery ahead of this return for a new stable. Check the betting. Tailed off when falling at the last on debut; wind op since; best watched on yard debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Captain Attridge's recent Hereford second hasn't worked out particularly well but Henry Oliver's in-form gelding merits respect, while shock Southwell bumper winner Moonscape Girl, a half-sister to the useful Thecompanysergeant, is an interesting contender ahead of her hurdling bow. Her stablemate VOCITO has looked rejuvenated since joining the Olly Murphy team, though, and he's taken to follow up last month's C&D triumph.
Olly Murphy holds a very strong hand here, with the Sean Bowen-ridden VOCITO preferred to his new stablemate and hurdle-debutante Moonscape Girl before any betting clues are known. Captain Attridge looks best of the rest.
The choice is MOONSCAPE GIRLp, who showed improved form to win a bumper last time. Stablemat \bVocito looks her main danger.

Royal Sam |
(12) (14/1 -40%)14/1(-40%) | (12) Royal Sam 14/1, Point winner but still a maiden under Rules. Recent chase efforts underwhelming but his mark has come down and well treated if a return to hurdles sparks a revival with Harry Cobden doing the steering. First start over hurdles for this stable after five unsuccessful runs over fences.. |

(9) (14/1 -87%)14/1(-87%) | (9) Caspers Court 14/1, On a career-low and turned in one of his best recent efforts when second of 5 at Newton Abbot (21.5f, soft) 33 days ago. Cheekpieces refitted. Ought to be competitive. Second at Newton Abbot in May but vulnerable to less exposed rivals.. |

3rd (2) (33/1 -560%) Getaway Glory |
33/1(-560%) | (2) Getaway Glory 33/1, Winning pointer who surpassed his hurdles form when making a winning chase debut at Huntingdon (3m) in April. Better form when placed twice over 3m at Bangor since and major player if able to translate that form back to hurdles. Reverts to hurdles after showing improvement with switch to fences.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (350/1 -10411%) Hugueneau |
350/1(-10411%) | (8) Hugueneau 350/1, Overcame interference to force a dead heat at Huntingdon (19.5f, good to soft) 6 weeks ago and was awarded the race outright in the stewards' room. A 2 lb rise is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing. Awarded the race when forcing a dead-heat at Huntingdon last time; steps up in distance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (400/1 -7173%) Fine By Me |
400/1(-7173%) | (3) Fine By Me 400/1, Added to his decent record fresh when returning from 8 months to finish second of 12 at Southwell (3m) 4 weeks ago. Perhaps not sure to build on that if previous campaigns are a guide. Only one win over hurdles but ran creditably when second at Southwell last month.. |

300/1(-2627%) | (10) Perfect Arch 300/1, Still a maiden but placed in handicaps on the Flat and over hurdles for his new yard in recent months. Another who can't be discounted. Encouraging second at Market Rasen last month; should not be far away.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (100/1 -2757%) Jolie Baie |
100/1(-2757%) | (4) Jolie Baie 100/1, Course maiden hurdle winner last August who followed up in 3m Ffos Las handicap 9 months later. Unexposed at this trip and remains of interest up 6lb. Won here last August and followed up in May on step up in trip; can land the hat-trick.. |

|B| (6) (14/1 +44%) Borderline |
14/1(+44%) | (6) Borderline 14/1, Modest form over hurdles for Martin Keighley and well held with a tongue tie added on his 2½m course debut for new yard last month. Has first-time cheekpieces added to the tongue strap now stepping up in trip. Maiden; soundly beaten in first-time tongue-tie for new stable here last month.. |

|F| (11) (25/1 -56%) Fortuitous Favour |
25/1(-56%) | (11) Fortuitous Favour 25/1, Bumper winner who produced one of her better efforts over hurdles when third of 9 over 3m at Southwell in January but last of 5 in blinkers at Fontwell in March and off since. Last of five in first-time blinkers at Fontwell in March and needs to show more.. |

10th (14) (150/1 -650%) Stripe Of Honour |
150/1(-650%) | (14) Stripe Of Honour 150/1, Showed his effectiveness when fresh when second on 3m Southwell reappearance in May and possible he found the run coming too soon when well held back there only 13 days later. Both wins have come here; encouraging second at Southwell in May but tailed off last time.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A few with chances, but JOLIE BAIE sprung a surprise on her return from the sidelines at Ffos Las in May and a 6lb rise might not stop the unexposed five-year-old. Hugueneau forced a dead-heat for top honours, before placing first outright, over an extended 2m3f at Huntingdon last time out. This longer trip could unlock further improvement and he merits respect, as do Fine By Me and Caspers Court.
JOLIE BAIE probably did well to come from so far back to win at Ffos Las on her reappearance and further progress is a distinct possibility for a mare who is very much unexposed as a stayer. Dan Skelton's Huntingdon scorer Hugueneau rates an obvious danger, while Getaway Glory would be a threat to all if able to translate his recent chase form back to hurdles. Royal Sam has come down a long way in the weights and is one to note in the betting under Harry Cobden.
A tight contest but JOLIE BAIE can complete her hat-trick. Hugueneau is second best.

Kentucky Bluegrass |
(3) (18/1 -50%)18/1(-50%) | (3) Kentucky Bluegrass 18/1, Fairly useful on the Flat for David O'Meara and left his previous hurdling efforts behind when third in a Hereford maiden in May. Didn't make much impact in handicap at Uttoxeter (16.8f, 25 days ago), but he's not discounted given his ability on the level. Seventh of nine on handicap debut but this race looks weaker and he could figure.. |

Logistical |
(12) (40/1 -150%)40/1(-150%) | (12) Logistical 40/1, Maiden on Flat/over hurdles who showed some promise in juvenile hurdles for Tom Lacey during second half of last year. Form has been going the wrong way for his current yard, though, well held on his last 3 outings (handicap hurdle debut on penultimate start). Well held on the AW latest but not completely ruled out on the pick of his hurdles form.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (9/1 +18%) Afta Party |
9/1(+18%) | (2) Afta Party 9/1, Opened his hurdles account in a Newton Abbot novice (16.8f) in October and, after a couple of lesser efforts, has shown better signs in handicaps at the same C&D on his last 2 starts. On a workable mark based on the pick of his form on the Flat. Sole win over hurdles came at 50-1; needs to improve on recent efforts but not ruled out.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 -43%) Electric Eddy |
5/1(-43%) | (5) Electric Eddy 5/1, Signs of ability for Prunella Dobbs in Ireland and has been going the right way in 3 starts for his current yard, third in handicap at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) on his latest outing. Could be ready to open his account with more still to offer. Progressing and a strong candidate in what looks a weak race.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (350/1 -2817%) Caldwell |
350/1(-2817%) | (6) Caldwell 350/1, Won twice at Southwell on the Flat over the winter for Ivan Furtado, but back over hurdles he could finish only fifth of 9 in selling handicap at Fakenham (16f, good) on his stable debut 55 days ago. Has work to do. Well held in a seller on stable debut latest; others have more pressing claims.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (200/1 -5906%) The Sad Shepherd |
200/1(-5906%) | (1) The Sad Shepherd 200/1, Posted much his best effort for this yard when third in handicap at Stratford (18.7f) in May and filled the same position at Bangor (16.7f, good) 3 days ago, despite having not always been fluent. Can make his presence felt. Not entirely straightforward but has the ability to figure if in the mood.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (150/1 -355%) Jysuis |
150/1(-355%) | (9) Jysuis 150/1, Placed all 3 starts in bumpers in France but yet to finish better than mid-field for his current yard, failing to improve for the switch to handicaps when eighth of 13 at Southwell (15.8f, good) 20 days ago. Others make more appeal. Down 3lb but a bit to prove; well beaten at 25-1 on last month's handicap debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (300/1 -3233%) Gerard Mentor |
300/1(-3233%) | (4) Gerard Mentor 300/1, Winless since scoring 4 times in 2022 but took a step back in the right direction when fourth at Ludlow in May. Wasn't able to build on that effort at Market Rasen (16.6f, good) last time, though made a bad mistake 3 out so he's not one to write off. Winless since 2022 and comes with risks but capable of being in the mix.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (400/1 -2757%) Maggie O |
400/1(-2757%) | (11) Maggie O 400/1, Irish point winner who got off the mark in this sphere on the back of a breathing op in handicap at Doncaster (16.6f) in November. However, has been below that level since, making little impression at Ludlow (21.2f, good) when last seen in April. Yet to build on her sole win but the step back in trip will be in her favour.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (450/1 -5525%) Ferrybridge |
450/1(-5525%) | (8) Ferrybridge 450/1, Winning hurdler who opened his chase account at the third attempt at Huntingdon in March, albeit left clear at the last. Rare below-par effort at Stratford 13 days ago, but no surprise to see him bounce back returned to hurdling. Needs to leave a lesser effort over fences behind but not ruled out back over hurdles.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (450/1 -8900%) Virginia Lodge |
450/1(-8900%) | (7) Virginia Lodge 450/1, Proved a different proposition to her debut when winning junior hurdle at Fakenham in November. Hasn't been able to repeat that effort in 2 starts since, but it still remains early days for her leading yard as she goes handicapping (has had a wind op). Modest efforts surround her sole win but she might do better after the wind surgery.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (450/1 -4400%) What A Flirth |
450/1(-4400%) | (10) What A Flirth 450/1, Runner-up in an Irish point and showed some ability on her hurdles debut. Hasn't gone on from that in her 2 subsequent outings, leaving D. E. Prendergast/off 11 months prior to her latest run at Hexham 16 days ago. Could yet do better in handicaps, though. Well beaten on debut for Dan Skelton and looks the stable's second string.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This looks like a decent opportunity for ELECTRIC EDDY to get off the mark following a career-best effort when running on for third over slightly further at Newton Abbot. The six-year-old remains on the same rating and he may have too much for The Sad Shepherd, who would hold strong claims if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate third at Stratford. Ferrybridge and Kentucky Bluegrass are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
ELECTRIC EDDY seems to be building up to something for Nigel Twiston-Davies, producing his best effort when third at Newton Abbot last time (the winner scored again on his next outing), so he is taken to get off the mark this time around. The Sad Shepherd has returned to form on his last 2 starts and could be the biggest threat, ahead of Afta Party.
After his Newton Abbot third, ELECTRIC EDDY (nap) looks the pick ahead of the unexposed Kentucky Bluegrass.

1st (3) (16/1 -33%) Record Art |
16/1(-33%) | (3) Record Art 16/1, Modest form, fading in the closing stages when 4 lengths sixth of 10 on Market Rasen handicap debut in May. Not in same form at Ffos Las (15.8f, good) subsequently and now heads up in trip. Not beaten far on handicap debut but latest run was underwhelming; new trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (33/1 -175%) Boot 'n' Shoe |
33/1(-175%) | (7) Boot 'n' Shoe 33/1, Shaped better than previously sent handicapping in tongue strap/cheekpieces when fourth of 16 in handicap at Kelso in May but unable to build on that subsequently at Market Rasen (20.6f, good). Mark eases another 3 lb and he remains low mileage. Made promising handicap debut in May but needs to bounce back from a poor run last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (40/1 -1355%) Inspector Lynley |
40/1(-1355%) | (10) Inspector Lynley 40/1, Maiden who wasted no time getting back on the up faced with less testing conditions when runner-up on return at Stratford (22f, good) just over 7 weeks ago. Goes off the same mark back down to 2½m and has leading claims if building on that. Clear second to revitalised opponent at Stratford in May; probably won't be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (80/1 -789%) Joker Du Chenet |
80/1(-789%) | (6) Joker Du Chenet 80/1, Respectable efforts at best without success for Stuart Crawford. Low-key start for yard but shaped with more encouragement than previously when fourth of 13 in handicap at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to soft) 16 days ago, left poorly placed. Lurks on a good mark if he can build on that. 0-11 over hurdles; both runs last month were very respectable but more is needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (450/1 -5900%) Easter Junction |
450/1(-5900%) | (1) Easter Junction 450/1, Placed on the first of 2 starts in bumpers and fair form when fourth in maidens on first 2 completed starts over hurdles. His 3 handicap runs subsequently have been disappointing, beaten further than looked likely for a long way at Bangor (19.6f, good) last month. Dropped another 3 lb. Safely held in first two handicaps but last month's Bangor fourth was a step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (350/1 -17400%) Mays Hill |
350/1(-17400%) | (5) Mays Hill 350/1, Winner of a Fontwell bumper but yet to match that form hurdles, put firmly in her place by an improved rival at this C&D (good to soft) 18 days ago. That winner has gone in again since, so she shouldn't be underestimated for her top yard. Bumped into a big improver when second over C&D last month; same mark today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (400/1 -1900%) Dragonball Prince |
400/1(-1900%) | (9) Dragonball Prince 400/1, Ended his time on the Flat (for Hugo Palmer) out of form. No real promise in 4 hurdles for current yard (including on handicap debut last month). Looks an easy swerve. Fair on the Flat but has not shown much over hurdles; headgear switched today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (250/1 -1150%) Happy County |
250/1(-1150%) | (11) Happy County 250/1, Little to shout about so far in a bumper/over hurdles but could make more of a splash now handicapping. Has not shown any significant promise in novice/maiden hurdles; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (125/1 -1463%) Hazels Delight |
125/1(-1463%) | (2) Hazels Delight 125/1, Won sole point but disappointing in a bumper (for Francesca Poste) and failed to complete in maiden hurdles last season. Showed first form in this sphere when fifth at Market Rasen (18.6f, good) on return just over 3 weeks ago and she's one to look out for now handicapping. Shaped with promise in Market Rasen maiden last month; makes handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (400/1 -1900%) Secret Sauce |
400/1(-1900%) | (4) Secret Sauce 400/1, Fair performer on the Flat in Ireland and best effort over hurdles when runner-up in a Hereford novice in January. However, hasn't managed to build on that since, including back on the Flat at Bath last week. Second in Hereford novice in January but lost his way in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (300/1 -500%) Great Warford |
300/1(-500%) | (8) Great Warford 300/1, Little show in 4 runs over hurdles, showing nothing in first-time cheekpieces after 5 months off on handicap debut at Southwell (15.8f, soft) recently. Can only be watched. Well beaten when 66-1 for last month's handicap debut; back up from 2m today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (350/1 -2400%) Mrs Kinsella |
350/1(-2400%) | (12) Mrs Kinsella 350/1, Long-standing maiden. Made frame a couple of times over hurdles for present yard last summer. Didn't take to chasing thereafter and pulled up on return at Stratford recently. Others preferred. Pulled up on last three appearances but still worth a glance in the betting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The form of MAYS HILL's recent second over C&D has worked out extremely well, with the winner and the third scoring since, and Fergal O'Brien's mare may be able to follow suit, with Jack Hogan taking off a handy 3lb. Inspector Lynley might be the one to follow her home after filling the runner-up berth over further at Stratford. Easter Junction and Hazels Delight are others to consider.
A few in with a squeak but MAYS HILL found only an improved rival too strong over C&D last month, and with the winner that day going in again since, Fergal O'Brien's 6-y-o is fancied to open her account in this sphere at the expense of Hazels Delight, who makes her handicap debut having shaped as though she would come on for her return at Market Rasen recently. Inspector Lynley and Joker du Chenet can fight out third.
This might go to MAYS HILL, who split two next-time-out winners when second over C&D last month and has the same mark today.
Ths is the racecard key.
