(7) Paddy's Return 5.5/1, Well beaten in 3 novice hurdles at the start of 2021. Of some interest that connections have persevered but betting is perhaps the best guide to expectations now handicap chasing after over 2 years off.
Struggled to get competitive in three slow-ground novice hurdles in early 2021.
LTO Selection:

17:40 Worcester Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Runner-up over an extended 2m1f on his latest outing, a 2lb raised mark looks unlikely to stop Opening Bid being in the mix, but he has to shoulder top-weight here so it is easier to side with URABAMBA. The gelded son of Arctic Cosmos finished a fair third over an extended 1m7f at Wincanton last month and the eight-year-old makes plenty of appeal back up in trip. Duke Of Luckley completes the shortlist in a first-time visor.

On the face of things this looks a very good opportunity for OPENING BID to build on last month's Exeter second and get off the mark over fences at the sixth time of asking. Urabamba has been placed in similar company lately and should have a part to play again, while Rocambolas returned to his weak-finishing ways last time but would be a threat to all if reproducing the form he showed when scoring over hurdles last month.

Preference is for OPENING BID, who ran a big race in defeat at Exeter last month and remains well handicapped on hurdling form.

Jumped left when last on recent Huntingdon return; trip/course/ground/mark all fine here..
LTO Selection:

18:10 Worcester Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BALKO SAINT finished second over an extended 2m4f at Kempton earlier this month and the fact he was headed approaching the last means he could benefit from a slightly shorter test of stamina. The class-dropping Kauto The King is now rated 8lb below his last winning mark and can bounce back to form, while Umndeni also warrants a market check on his return to chasing.

It might be worth taking a chance on COURTLAND bouncing back to form as he's come down a long way in the weights and his stable is going pretty well at present. Balko Saint is second choice ahead of last year's winner Kauto The King.

Granted a sound surface over 2m4f for the first time, COURTLAND is preferred over recent dual chasing runner-up Balko Saint.

18:40 Worcester NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It could pay to side with THE GAMBLER, who bolted up in a point-to-point in Ireland last month when trained by Patrick Turley. She can make both a winning Rules and stable debut, but C&D winner Genovese cannot be dismissed on the back of his most recent third-placed effort at Southwell. Jefe Triunfo is a newcomer of interest, especially when considering the booking of Harry Cobden.

THE GAMBLER changed hands for £20,000 after an easy victory in an Irish point last month and is fancied to make a winning start for new connections on her bumper debut. Chris Gordon's newcomer Jefe Triunfo could emerge as the main threat, especially if the market vibes are positive, with C&D scorer Genovese appealing as the pick of the trio with previous bumper experience and also considered.

The form standard is set by GENOVESE who has the added bonus of being a C&D winner. Jefe Triunfo is second choice.

LTO Selection:

19:10 Worcester Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AJP KINGDOM was pushed out to strike by three lengths last time at Kempton over 2m5f, and that race is already working out well with the third coming out to bolt up since. The son of Mahler makes only his fourth start over hurdles and should have more to come, so he is strongly fancied to defy his 7lb penalty. Court Master is rated 120 and, if he can run anywhere near that level, he is likely to be bang there. Of the remainder, Nuova Vita makes the most appeal.

AJP KINGDOM and Court Master stand out a mile in a thin contest. The former has a penalty to shoulder, but he has much less to prove and is preferred, especially with his previous second to Twig reading better now than it did at the time.

Court Master is greatly respected on his best chase form and looks the only threat to recent hurdles winner AJP KINGDOM.

19:40 Worcester Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Fine By Her went in by just under two lengths in this grade over 3m last time at Ludlow, and a 3lb rise for that keeps her in with a big shout. However, preference is still for STRIPE OF HONOUR, who defied his huge odds in style on his latest outing at this track over 2m4f, and the way he came clear suggests the step back up to this distance may not pose any problems. D'jango is noted too.

STRIPE OF HONOUR could hardly be labelled a model of consistency but if in the same form as when scoring by a wide-margin here last week he will prove a tough nut to crack. D'Jango is on a handy mark returned to this sphere and could be the one to follow the selection home. Symbolic Spirit is also shortlisted, along with last-time-out winners Fine By Her and Nelsons Rock.

June 2022 C&D scorer D'JANGO can take advantage of this similarly realistic assignment, ahead of the 4lb well-in Stripe Of Honour.

20:10 Worcester Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SINURITA is having her first run in handicap company after outrunning her odds over 2m5f at Ludlow earlier this month, where she finished third of 11. This opening mark of 88 looks workable and this slight drop in trip looks likely to suit. The consistent Barely Famous is having her first run for Matt Sheppard and she is noted despite the absence, while Valentine Getaway should also be in the mix.

Several in with a squeak but a chance is taken on BLUE SANS, who endured a miserable 2022/23 campaign but can get back on track for her top yard arriving fit from points/having tumbled in the weights. Sinurita, Whenthepennydrops and Barely Famous are just a handful of possible dangers.

Previous C&D winner BLUE SANS (nap) shaped well when second in a point last month and she gets the nod over Sinurita.

LTO Selection:

20:40 Worcester Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The nod goes to BOUNDSY BOY, who finished fourth of 10 over 2m at Uttoxeter last time. Bear A Hand was in third on that occasion, but the form is likely to be reversed given Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero's runner is on better terms. That looks to be the form to concentrate on, although Royal Max commands respect on his handicap bow for powerful connections.

ROYAL MAX remains open to improvement and could be a different proposition now sent handicapping. He gets the nod. Bear A Hand and Boundsy Boy look the likeliest dangers.

The suggestion is NORDY LORDY, who ran well for a long way over 2m3f at Warwick recently and may benefit from this drop back in trip.
