Dam won over 1m6f for the yard and it's likely there's more to come; shortlisted.
LTO Selection:

16:41 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A taking winner at Brighton last time out, VOLCANOLOGY is the leat exposed in the field and should therefore be open to plenty of improvement on just her third career outing. The step up in trip is a big plus and she should have too much for Courageous Strike on his first start for new connections and Go Your Own Way, who has been narrowly denied on his last two starts.

GO YOUR OWN WAY produced a career best when runner-up at Kempton 11 days ago, only just failing, so he is taken to go one better returned to this longer trip. Courageous Strike was also narrowly denied on his latest outing and could be the main danger on his stable debut, with Seahorse Syd completing the shortlist.

Ollie Pears is 5-19 with 2yos on the AW this season and SEAHORSE SYD can add to the tally. Volcanology is second choice.

Huge prices for two runs from wide stalls round Chester last month and ran accordingly.
LTO Selection:

17:15 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ZAYINA may have a 7lb penalty to overcome for a taking success at Brighton last week, but that was only her third start and she should be open to far more improvement as she goes up in distance. Narrowly denied at Southwell last month, Faster Bee looks to be a key player, along with Across Earth, who ran a highly-encouraging race on his debut at Newcastle.

This step up in trip promises to suit ZAYINA, who was strong at the finish when opening her account in a 1m Brighton novice. She is likely to take plenty of stopping on her all-weather debut, despite carrying a penalty. Across Earth and Hampden are both open to improvement and rate the main dangers in that order of preference, while Eagle Angel and Rogue King showed ability on their respective debuts and can do better in time.

Boasts a fair course record and will be happier back down from 1m2f; each-way claims.
LTO Selection:

17:45 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The step up in trip can work the oracle for GOLDEN PHASE, having shown signs in recent starts, when slightly outpaced over a mile, that she may relish this longer distance. The booking of Hollie Doyle catches the eye and she is preferred to Clotherholme and Possible Ambition, who wasn't beaten far at Newcastle when last seen in February. Completing the shortlist are Coconut Ba and Star Of St Louis.

GOLDEN PHASE did well to sustain her effort at Lingfield 22 days ago having been forced wide throughout, so she remains of interest, especially with that form proving solid. Star of St Louis and Possible Ambition head the opposition.

LTO Selection:

18:15 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

INITIO sets the standard for the others to aim at with a rating of 75, despite finishing last of 13 on his handicap bow at York. This looks like a much more suitable assignment and he could get his head in front for the first time, with the form of his third-placed finish in a similar event at Thirsk in August giving him strong claims. Hailey Ya Mal was well supported on his debut but he failed to fire in seventh and has since switched to the Antony Brittain stable, so that could spark more from the three-year-old. So Glorious completes the shortlist.

INITIO wasn't seen at his best in the mud at York last time but possesses much the best form on offer and is taken to get off the mark at the chief expense of Mick Appleby's newcomer Maruna who is worth monitoring in the betting. National Health and Hailey Ya Mal appeal as the pick of the rest for minor honours.

LTO Selection:

18:45 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 2) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Street Kid held on by a head to score over this trip at Haydock last month and if he can transfer that form to the all-weather, then he ought to have a big say off 3lb higher. However, preference is for ARATUS, who has undergone wind surgery since finishing third in a class 2 handicap at Leicester when last seen 12 months ago. The five-year-old is 1-1 on the all-weather and he could make a winning return to action off a 3lb lower mark. Safe Voyage is a reliable sort and he also has to be considered.

ALL THE KING'S MEN failed to beat a rival at Haydock when last seen in June, but it's easy to excuse him that run, and he's fancied to resume his progress now returning to the all-weather after a break. Aratus shaped well on several occasions in competitive handicaps in 2022 and is capable fresh, so he's a very interesting runner too, particularly as he was successful on his only previous all-weather start. Mitrosonfire bounced back to his best at Ascot last time and completes the shortlist.

Aratus is worth a look, but it would be a surprise were ALL THE KING'S MEN (nap) not up to winning a decent prize off this mark.

LTO Selection:

19:15 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ON THE RIGHT TRACK was denied by two lengths over an extended 1m3f here earlier in the month and he was only raised 1lb for that display. With the booking of a 5lb claimer to ease the burden of top weight, the six-year-old attempts this trip for the first time and that could eke out the improvement needed to strike this evening. Doublethetrouble has been unlucky to fill the runner-up spot on each of his last three outings and he should go well once more, while Eagle's Realm returns to the Flat after three outings over hurdles and he is also respected.

LORD TORRANAGA is knocking firmly on the door and rates just the pick of the weights too so is taken to gain a deserved success and edge out in-form duo Doublethetrouble and Ezmerellda.

Some reliable handicappers on show but the unexposed EZMERELLDA may progress past them now faced with a stiffer test of stamina.

LTO Selection:

19:45 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

NAZCA clearly sets the standard based on his hat-trick in recent months and a 2lb rise for the most recent of those victories may not be enough to stop him here. Gatwick Kitten was only beaten a neck into third off this mark at Kempton recently and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Noteable and Jack Of Clubs are others to note.

CORINTHIA KNIGHT is handicapped to win and arrives on the back of a good run at Windsor so, if he can get across from a wide draw, he should be capable of ending a losing run. Last-time-out winner Noteable looks a threat and the four-timer seeking Nazca obviously merits respect.

The fast finish of GATWICK KITTEN at Kempton last week offered considerable encouragement that he would be breaking his AW duck soon.

LTO Selection:

20:15 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Phoenix Beach hit the crossbar in a similar event over C&D last time and he merits the utmost respect once again. However, a chance can be taken with DARK SIDE PRINCE, who is a dual winner over this track and trip. The six-year-old races off the same mark as his most recent victory at Southwell in February and his latest efforts on turf have been encouraging. Others to consider are Murbih and Secret Mistral.

PHOENIX BEACH shaped well when second over C&D recently and, fresh for the time of year, looks worth a chance to build on that. Dark Side Prince has had a good year and is feared most ahead of Murbih, who finished a place behind the selection here last time.

The vote goes to PAPA DON'T PREACH, who'll appreciate the return to the AW off a career-low mark. Phoenix Beach is next best.
