3.33/1(-48%) | (2) Victoriano 3.33/1, C&D winner. 9/2, won 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (16.2f) 34 days ago, slowly away. Can go well again. Up 2lb for Newcastle win; enters calculations but may need to pull out more to follow up.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/1 -83%) Mellow Mood |
11/1(-83%) | (6) Mellow Mood 11/1, 13/2, good second of 8 in minor event at Lingfield (13f, good) 17 days ago. Up in trip. Others more persuasive. Dam closely related to a 2m winner so she may be able to improve stepping up in trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 -45%) Papa Ricco |
16/1(-45%) | (5) Papa Ricco 16/1, Winner at Nottingham in April. 14/1, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f) 12 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Handicapper has been in charge since 1m2f win in April; steps up in trip; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (22/1 +33%) Little Tiger |
22/1(+33%) | (7) Little Tiger 22/1, Blinkered for 1st time, seventh of 9 in handicap (33/1) at Yarmouth (11.5f, good to firm) 22 days ago, very slowly away. Significantly up in trip. Showed minor promise last season but has gone backwards since; others preferred.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (3.33/1 +33%) Winklevi |
3.33/1(+33%) | (3) Winklevi 3.33/1, Course winner. 17/2, fifth of 8 in handicap at Catterick (15.9f, good) 24 days ago. Continues to slip in the weights at least. Has shown enough this year to suggest he can be competitive back here from this mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (1.38/1 +27%) Tradesman |
1.38/1(+27%) | (4) Tradesman 1.38/1, 28/1, career best when winning 12-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (14f) by wide margin 8 days ago. Can defy penalty. Carries penalty for 1m6f win but now looks well handicapped; could prove tough to beat.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 +25%) Mancini |
12/1(+25%) | (1) Mancini 12/1, Twenty two runs since last win in 2020. 66/1, last of 10 in handicap at Chester (14.4f, heavy) 48 days ago. Multiple winner at up to 16.5f but well below par in two starts for this trainer.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This is well within compass for VICTORIANO and, having won off 7lb higher at his best, the 2lb rise for his recent Newcastle success almost looks meagre in comparison. Tradesman is feared under a 5lb penalty for a surprise win at Chelmsford eight days ago but his record over 2m leaves something to be desired. Therefore, Mellow Mood could emerge as a bigger threat given her scope to improve over the trip.
TRADESMAN opened his account in clear-cut fashion at Chelmsford last week so looks up to defying a penalty. Fellow last-time-out winner Victoriano is next best ahead of Winklevi.
The four-year-old TRADESMAN (nap) took a big step forward on recent efforts last time and now looks well treated under his penalty.

1st (4) (1.38/1 -52%) Billiegee |
1.38/1(-52%) | (4) Billiegee 1.38/1, Promising type. 9/4, second of 11 in maiden at Kempton (7f) on debut 18 days ago, rapid progress final 1f and running on. Looks sure to improve and she's a big player here. 9-4 favourite at Kempton (7f) when a strong-finishing second; major player upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1.88/1 +25%) Really Darn Hot |
1.88/1(+25%) | (3) Really Darn Hot 1.88/1, Once-raced filly. 8/1, showed only greenness when eleventh of 13 in class 2 maiden at Goodwood (7f, soft) on debut 29 days ago. Up in trip now and this ought to reveal more. Attracted support at Goodwood (7f, soft) but she was always in rear after a slow start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (18/1 -64%) Middlesex |
18/1(-64%) | (2) Middlesex 18/1, Foaled January 29. 20,000 gns yearling, Territories filly. Half-sister to 1¼m-11f winner Mudaarab and 6f-1m winner Ex Cetera. Yard running at an impressive 6-18 with their juvenile runners on AW this year and she's well worthy of note on debut. Well-bred filly and she needs a close look on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (28/1 -180%) Dancing Eyes |
28/1(-180%) | (5) Dancing Eyes 28/1, Once-raced filly. 12/1, fourth of 11 in maiden at Kempton (7f) on debut 18 days ago, second 1f out and no extra last ½f. Up in trip. Showed ability at Kempton but was behind the strong-finishing Billiegee in that race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (50/1 +50%) Free Speech |
50/1(+50%) | (6) Free Speech 50/1, Once-raced filly. Tenth of 11 in minor event (50/1) at Leicester (7f, good to firm) on debut 9 days ago, slowly into stride and always behind. Up in trip. Has a good pedigree but she didn't show much at a big price on her debut last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (2.75/1 +66%) Inbetweenus |
2.75/1(+66%) | (1) Inbetweenus 2.75/1, €35,000 2-y-o, Inns of Court filly. 20/1, shaped with a little encouragement amid greenness when fifth of 13 in class 2 maiden at Goodwood (7f) 4 weeks ago. Rates a likely improver with that under her belt. Promising fifth at Goodwood on debut and she's open to progress on this step up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (200/1 -100%) Whitesocksnsandals |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Whitesocksnsandals 200/1, Foaled February 22. 3,500 gns yearling, Postponed filly. Sister to useful 1¼m-14.4f winner Soul Stopper and closely related to several winners, including smart winner up to 7f Perfect Tribute. Dam unraced. Likely best watched on debut. Has fair standard to aim at on debut and is best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BILLIEGEE was arguably given too much to do when she was a fast-finishing second on debut at Kempton last month, but, with a step up in trip looking likely to suit, she rates as a solid contender in her bid to get off the mark at the second time of asking. Dancing Eyes was a respectable fourth in that race and can feasibly give the selection the most to think about, while Inbetweenus is notable given her dam was a winning miler on the all-weather.
There was plenty to like about BILLIEGEE's debut second in a newcomers' maiden at Kempton 18 days ago and, with progress anticipated, she's fancied to go one place better. Inbetweenus showed ability when fifth on debut herself at Goodwood and is feared most. Middlesex is a newcomer to note in the betting.
This can go to BILLIEGEE, who sets the standard on her debut second at Kempton and is open to progress on this step up in trip.

1st (2) (3.33/1 +26%) Hedge Fund |
3.33/1(+26%) | (2) Hedge Fund 3.33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 15/2, matched previous best when fifth of 11 in novice event at Windsor (6f, good) 18 days ago. Makes handicap debut and worth noting if the market speaks in his favour. Promise in three runs and opening mark fair judged on Salisbury fourth; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 +40%) Mullins Beach |
3/1(+40%) | (6) Mullins Beach 3/1, Hit the frame on 3 of his 4 starts in novice/maiden company but proved disappointing on 2 of his 3 starts in nurseries to date, sixth in 7-runner event at Haydock (7f) latest. Back down in trip for tapeta debut. Inconsistent but his best efforts give him a fair chance off a reduced mark; AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4.5/1 -80%) Kandy House |
4.5/1(-80%) | (5) Kandy House 4.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Good second of 5 behind a thriving sort in nursery at Chelmsford (5f, 11/1) 24 days ago. Back up in trip. Makes tapeta debut. Has to be taken seriously. 2nd over 5f at Chelmsford last month but she'll need more to come out on top in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (1.88/1 +25%) Mariamne |
1.88/1(+25%) | (1) Mariamne 1.88/1, Winner of 5f maiden here in May and fitted with a tongue tie, she confirmed her effectiveness for 6f when runner-up at Kempton 23 days ago. Good claims with a repeat. 5f winner here in May; good 2nd in Kempton nursery latest; firmly in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (12/1 +33%) Harts Pocketrocket |
12/1(+33%) | (7) Harts Pocketrocket 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 10 in nursery at Ffos Las (6f, heavy, 16/1) 32 days ago, seemingly unsuited by testing conditions. Could get back on track making tapeta debut. Well beaten on his nursery debut in July (6f, soft) and he looks up against it once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (18/1 -80%) Unowho |
18/1(-80%) | (4) Unowho 18/1, Went close at Thirsk (5f, heavy) on debut but regressive since, seventh of 9 in Newcastle novice (6f) 29 days ago, disputing lead and dropping away final 1f. Blinkers need to have positive effect now handicapping. Not built on a promising debut as yet; best form at 5f; blinkers added for nursery debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MARIAMNE, who was thought good enough to be pitched at the Queen Mary three starts back, appeals strongly returning at the scene of her only previous success and, having gone close in a tongue-tie applied at Kempton last month, she looks worth another chance with the application retained. Kandy House also posted a better effort last time and commands respect, as does nursery debutant Hedge Fund, whose debut on synthetics displayed promise given his dam was placed on the all-weather.
KANDY HOUSE got firmly back on track making her AW debut when beaten only by a thriving sort at Chelmsford 24 days ago and, back up in trip, she earns the vote to build on that here. Mariamne, runner-up herself at Kempton recently is next best, whilst Mullins Beach could bounce back now returned to 6f.
The form of HEDGE FUND's Salisbury fourth is working out well and he can make light of his opening handicap mark.

2nd (6) (3.33/1 +45%) Liberty Mountain |
3.33/1(+45%) | (6) Liberty Mountain 3.33/1, 5/1, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, heavy) 27 days ago, no match for winner. Makes tapeta debut. Can give a good account again. 7f Polytrack winner; below par recently but not written off.. |

3rd (3) (3.33/1 -11%) Puntarelle |
3.33/1(-11%) | (3) Puntarelle 3.33/1, Winner at Chelmsford (7f) in April. 14/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 9 days ago, weakening final 1f. Cheekpieces on 1st time and not out of things judged on pick of form. Handy mark and cheekpieces now go on, so that may help with a more competitive effort.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 -9%) Destined |
6/1(-9%) | (2) Destined 6/1, Winner at Redcar in May. Bit below form fourth of 9 in handicap (4/1) at Haydock (7.2f, good) 20 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time and no surprise to see a better showing returned to AW. 6f turf winner; cheekpieces go on and she should be heavily involved from this mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (16/1 +0%) Dance Angel |
16/1(+0%) | (9) Dance Angel 16/1, Winner at Catterick in June. 9/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 18 days ago, held when short of room close home. Mark has eased a little more but others make greater appeal for win purposes. Below par since maiden win but took step back in the right direction latest; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (16/1 +0%) Aviary |
16/1(+0%) | (12) Aviary 16/1, One win from 21 Flat runs (gained over C&D 12 months ago). Offered little on seasonal bow at Bath (5.7f) early last month but shaped much better than bare result back at that venue (1m) 2 weeks ago, in contention when taking false step late on. Not underestimated. Interesting from this mark but she's been out of sorts in both starts this season.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (16/1 -60%) Plumette |
16/1(-60%) | (1) Plumette 16/1, Multiple course winner who has performed with credit all 3 starts for present yard, keeping on for fourth at Newmarket (6f) 28 days ago. Return to 7f rates a plus and she's on a handy mark on balance. Multiple course winner; back from turf in good form and should be thereabouts once again.. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (25/1 +0%) Marsh Lock |
25/1(+0%) | (8) Marsh Lock 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 28/1, first run since leaving J. A. Stack when last of 8 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 23 days ago. That was her first start for 12 weeks and this ought to reveal more with cheekpieces enlisted. Well below par since showing promise on her first two starts; cheekpieces need to work.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (6/1 +40%) Top Of The Class |
6/1(+40%) | (11) Top Of The Class 6/1, 15/2, creditable fifth of 11 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, good to firm) 78 days ago, fading final 1f. May need further respite from the handicapper before becoming of interest. Placed 1-7 and unless she can find some improvement, looks likely to be found wanting.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (100/1 -52%) Glory And Gold |
100/1(-52%) | (10) Glory And Gold 100/1, Fair winner at 7f for William Haggas at 3 yrs but yet to beat a rival in trio of starts for present yard this season. Plenty to prove at present. 7f (soft) winner; well beaten in all three starts for this trainer; others preferred.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Liberty Mountain posted one of her better efforts this season when runner-up on the turf at Lingfield last month and must enter calculations now reverting to all-weather. However, DESTINED has slightly more scope for improvement after a fourth-placed finish on her first try over 7f at Haydock in mid-August and shades the vote. Five-time course winner Plumette rarely runs a bad race at this venue and is another to note on the return to Tapeta.
Multiple course winner PLUMETTE has made a solid start for Steph Hollinshead, keeping on for fourth having a rare go at sprinting at Newmarket 4 weeks ago. On a handy mark judged on the pick of her AW form earlier in the year, she could be worth siding with back at this more suitable trip. 3-y-o's Destined and Liberty Mountain head up the dangers, with Puntarelle another not out of things on the pick of her form.
Of most interest is DESTINED, who looks worth another crack at this trip, has a good draw and headgear may also help.

5.5/1(+31%) | (9) Connected 5.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 9 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, good to soft, 150/1) 17 days ago. Blinkers go on for handicap debut and he's another to note in the betting for positive vibes. Equipped with blinkers for his handicap debut and he's one to note for market confidence. |

2nd (6) (1.62/1 +35%) Harry The Haggler |
1.62/1(+35%) | (6) Harry The Haggler 1.62/1, Evens, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Leicester (8.2f, good) 64 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Expected to be bang there. Expensive to follow since handicapping but usually runs well & more appealing than many. |

3rd (11) (8.5/1 -31%) Lynwood Lad |
8.5/1(-31%) | (11) Lynwood Lad 8.5/1, 9/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at this course (6.1f) 14 days ago, keeping on having been left poorly placed. Needs to pull out a little more in any case returned to 7f. Couldn't reward market support here last month (6f) but ran a bit better; 7f looks a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (25/1 -56%) Elusive Tiger |
25/1(-56%) | (7) Elusive Tiger 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, last of 8 in maiden at Lingfield (5f, AW) in February. Goes handicapping now on the back of 6 months off/gelding op but only market confidence would make him of interest. Possible improver now upped in trip for his handicap debut; gelded since last seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (7.5/1 +38%) Jimmy Lifestyle |
7.5/1(+38%) | (8) Jimmy Lifestyle 7.5/1, Maiden. Equipped with first-time cheekpieces on for 1st time, took step back in right direction when fifth of 8 in handicap (18/1) at Salisbury (8f, good) 16 days ago. Further ease in weights can only help now returning to 7f. Dropping down the weights but he didn't look straightforward at Salisbury last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (8.5/1 -31%) Fayasel |
8.5/1(-31%) | (2) Fayasel 8.5/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 7 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good, 17/2) 31 days ago, weakening 2f out. Return to an artificial surface could spark a revival but widest draw of all makes things tricky. On a good mark and removal of headgear could help; stall 12 makes life tricky though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (10/1 -11%) Cloud Queen |
10/1(-11%) | (10) Cloud Queen 10/1, 14/1, respectable third of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 24 days ago, coming wide entering straight and running on. Hood/cheekpieces now the headgear of choice. Respected. Eight-race maiden but placed for the first time at Chelmsford last month; new headgear. |

66/1(-164%) | (12) Mayz 66/1, Eighth of 9 in handicap at Epsom (7f, good to firm, 20/1) 14 days ago. Must improve. No improvement for the switch to handicaps this year and others bring more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (7.5/1 -114%) Glory Call |
7.5/1(-114%) | (3) Glory Call 7.5/1, Improved a little for switch back to AW of late, gaining second win from last 3 starts in 11-runner C&D handicap 18 days ago, just holding on by head from Bishop's Glory. Remains lightly raced at this trip and not out of things from 3 lb higher mark. Two course wins, including a narrow defeat of Bishop's Glory latest; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (25/1 +0%) Macho Mania |
25/1(+0%) | (1) Macho Mania 25/1, 28/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 2 days ago. Visor back on. Uphill task. A quiet start for this yard continued at Lingfield on Wednesday.. |

11th (5) (50/1 -150%) Queens Resolve |
50/1(-150%) | (5) Queens Resolve 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, last of 9 in handicap at Epsom (7f, good to firm) 14 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Comes here with a bit to prove making tapeta debut. No improvement for handicapping at Epsom two weeks ago; bred to do better at some point. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GLORY CALL found further improvement when regaining the winning thread on his 7f bow here last month and the Cotai Glory gelding may have more to offer over this distance, so a 3lb rise looks more than fair. The in-form Harry The Haggler expected to pose the the biggest threat after knocking on the door of late and Stuart Williams' three-year-old shouldn't be inconvenienced by the drop in trip. Cloud Queen was third at Chelmsford last month and another 1lb drop in the weights will help Ed Dunlop's filly.
HARRY THE HAGGLER was knocking firmly on the door in handicaps on AW/turf earlier this summer and with the return to 7f holding no fears, he's fancied to get off the mark at the ninth attempt. Glory Call, who has landed 2 of his last 3 starts, and Cloud Queen head up the dangers.
Harry The Haggler should be up to winning a race of this nature but GLORY CALL is taken to gain a third win here.

3.5/1(-40%) | (2) Dalby Forest 3.5/1, 9/2, good second of 11 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 12 days ago. That was his best effort of the season returned to AW and the winner has scored again since so he has obvious claims off 3 lb lower. 5f AW winner; inconsistent but, as he showed last week, capable of being very competitive.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
DALBY FOREST was well held in second over 5f at Southwell last time but he has been given a golden chance to go one better by the handicapper. David Simcock's runner has been dropped 3lb for that two-and-a-half-length defeat and he looks primed to mount another bold bid today. C&D winner Munificent is feared most having been raised just 1lb for being beaten by a three-quarters of a length in second over 5f at Yarmouth, while Lancashire Life can also hit the frame.
DALBY FOREST ran well behind a subsequent winner at Southwell a fortnight ago and has obvious claims down 3 lb. Speed Dial Baileys and Munificent are feared.
Preference is for MUNIFICENT, in the hope that he can settle sufficiently to be able to carry his effort through to the line.

7/1(+0%) | (12) Zakram 7/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/2, fared a little better than of late when fifth of 11 in handicap at this course (9.5f) 18 days ago. Up in trip. 7f AW winner last year; struggling this season and stamina for this new trip looks a worry. |

9th (4) (80/1 -142%) Princess Nieve |
80/1(-142%) | (4) Princess Nieve 80/1, Last of 8 in handicap at Chester (12.3f, heavy, 50/1) 48 days ago. Visored for 1st time. Chance on this winter's form but well beaten in two runs for new yard; visor tried now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GHOSTLY arrives here seeking a hat-trick and he is fancied to add to his winning sequence today. Stella Barclay's charge has been raised a further 2lb for a nose success over 1m4f at Thirsk but that may not be enough to stop the in-form five-year-old as he continues on an upward trajectory. The consistent Hot Team is likely to run his race again, while Jenny Ren also deserves closer inspection.
A decidedly trappy finale and with that in mind a chance is taken on SKI JUMP. A winner at Beverley in June, he hasn't been disgraced on either start since and, still low-mileage at this trip, it would come as no surprise to see him go well. Ghostly is enjoying a good spell and rates a big threat in search of the hat-trick, with Jenny Ren and Hot Team also in the mix.
A few of these like to race prominently and this could set up nicely for JENNY REN to gain her fourth C&D success.
Ths is the racecard key.
