17:20 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

CROSSBEAU wasn't disgraced on his return to action when fifth at Beverley last month and the extra couple of furlongs on this occasion appear likely to benefit the son of Dunaden. Steel Helmet scored over C&D on his penultimate start and the nine-year-old is capable of being in the mix, while King Charles and The Resdev Way are others worth noting.

FIGHTING POET reacted well to blinkers when second at Lingfield last time and might be capable of going one better now if the headgear works again. Chief Craftsman was never in it at Beverley last time but had shaped quite well at Carlisle prior to that and could be a threat if back to that form. The step back up in trip should suit the unexposed Crossbeau who completes the shortlist.

The suggestion is KING CHARLES, who won this race off a 3lb higher mark under Jessica Llewellyn a year ago.

LTO Selection:

17:55 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ZENO has performed with some promise on a couple of occasions, including when fourth here last month, and the use of cheekpieces now making his handicap bow may see him step forward on what he has achieved to date. All Dunn clearly wasn't at his best at Lingfield last time and is worth a chance to return to form. Zebadaay and Struck Gold complete the shortlist.

It's likely that ZENO will be seen in an altogether better light now pitched into a low-grade handicap off what looks a fair mark, and the hint should be taken if the market speaks in his favour. All Dunn is 3-8 on the all-weather and is likely to give a good account, while Glory Call and Alainn Tu both make each-way appeal.

This looks trappy but it might be worth siding with STRUCK GOLD. Alainn Tu is feared most ahead of the handicap newcomer Zeno.

LTO Selection:

18:25 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

UNLIMITED DATA finished second at Windsor a fortnight ago when attempting to make it a hat-trick of victories, having scored twice over C&D prior, and, now back on the all-weather, the son of Tasleet may prove a tough nut to crack. Cuban Grey went close on his most recent effort at Lingfield and is respected, while South Dakota Sioux and Sugar Hill Babe both have solid credentials.

CUBAN GREY has gained his sole win over this C&D and last week's excellent second at Lingfield suggests he's ready to double his tally from an unchanged mark. Unlimited Data and South Dakota Sioux are likely to give their running and are feared most.

This should be run at a good pace and it could set up for SOUTH DAKOTA SIOUX, who finished well to go close at Leicester last time.

19:00 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 4) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

There was a good word for KNICKS prior to his introduction at Ripon but after showing good speed, he faded into third as a short-priced favourite. With that run under his belt, though, he should be able to see his race out better and can improve past Mutasawi, who was a couple of lengths in front of him in second. Fifty Grand Slater has kept decent company so far, while Matloob is best judged on his debut fourth at Doncaster rather than his subsequent Leicester failure.

MUTASAWI produced a promising first effort when runner-up at Ripon 3 weeks ago despite not fully handling the undulations. and with that effort behind him, he will take some stopping. Knicks has 2 lengths to find with the selection but he was hampered so there's hope he will finish closer this time.

This can go to MUTASAWI, who sets a good standard on his debut second at Ripon 19 days ago and should be more streetwise this time.

19:30 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MARS MAGIC didn't taste competitive action until the September of his three-year-old season, but he immediately made up for lost time when scoring over C&D. He can't be all that straightforward because he has been off since, and has moved from the Charltons to James Ferguson in that time, but he looks quite a bright prospect. Poseidon Prince also has an absence to overcome, but was bought from Godolphin after a second at Yarmouth. There were excuses for Nigiri's Chelmsford no-show and she can't be written off just yet.

Godolphin cast-off POSEIDON PRINCE stepped up on his debut effort when chasing home a decent type in Tafreej when last seen at Yarmouth in October. If fully tuned-up for this debut for new connections, he could be the answer. There were excuses for Nigiri's low-key reappearance effort (reportedly bled) and she remains of interest in view of what was a fairly promising introduction in a backend Newmarket maiden. Mars Magic, a winner over C&D on debut last year, is best of the rest.

Nicely in command in the closing stages of a C&D novice in September, MARS MAGIC is taken to maintain his 100% record.

20:00 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GAME SET is a full-brother to a useful handicapper in Razeyna and he could be even better judging by his successful Doncaster debut. Owen Burrows' colt showed a pleasing attitude to fend off a subsequent scorer and he can take the next step up the ladder. Verona Star also defends an unblemished record, although his winning introduction came at Newcastle back in October 2021 and he has to concede weight all round. Sparkling Spirit is interesting on her first appearance for Adrian Keatley.

GAME SET had a bit up his sleeve when seeing off a next-time-out winner on debut at Doncaster 3 weeks ago and he looks capable of defying a penalty. Verona Star has a 20-month absence to overcome but is in excellent hands, with Sparkling Spirit one to monitor in the betting for her new yard.

Owen Burrows' GAME SET showed a good attitude when scoring at Doncaster on his recent debut and sets a useful standard under a penalty.

20:30 Wolverhampton Stakes (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

LOCKDOWN LASS ran well off a mark of 47 last time at Chepstow, despite failing to justify favouritism, and that was a very solid display in the context of this race. A live danger comes in the shape of last-time-out victor Magic Gem, who has an absence to overcome but was in good form at the start of last year. Spartakos tries first-time cheekpieces, which makes him of interest too.

MARTINEO has a much more solid recent record than most of these and gets the nod under Connor Beasley, who was on board for last month's Newcastle win. Lockdown Lass is a threat after 2 creditable runs on turf this spring, while it'll be interesting to see how much strength there is in the betting behind the returning Magic Gem, who was in good form at this level when last seen.

Top of the list is MARTINEO, who has been in good form on AW since March including a close third at Chelmsford last time.

21:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Hooflepuff was victorious in April at Wolverhampton when accounting for his rivals by a length in this grade, and he should go well again off only 2lb higher. However, he could be playing second fiddle to KENILWORTH KING, who filled the runner-up spot last time and was only touched off by half a length. The four-year-old competes off the same mark which gives him every chance of going one better. Barney's Angel could improve for a first-time hood and needs to be considered as well.

KENILWORTH KING left his opening effort for this yard well behind when second here last week, and from the same mark, he holds sound claims. Snooze Lane has gained both wins at this venue and is a big danger back on the AW, with Nikki's Girl another to consider upped in trip.

7yo HOOFLEPUFF (nap) recorded his ninth course win when scoring over C&D in April and he gets the vote ahead of Snooze Lane.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
