1st (2) (3/1 +25%) Phone Tag |
3/1(+25%) | (2) Phone Tag 3/1, Fair maiden. In good form until slowly away and only ninth of 11 in nursery at Thirsk (8f, good to soft, 4/1) 30 days ago. No surprise to see him bounce back. Consistent until form dipped last time; may bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/2 +33%) Bjorn Ironside |
5/2(+33%) | (6) Bjorn Ironside 5/2, Gelded and hooded before coming in a good seventh of 17 in maiden (33/1) at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Much respected on his handicap debut. 300,000gns purchase who may show improvement now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 -23%) Overlooked |
8/1(-23%) | (1) Overlooked 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable seventh of 12 in nursery (11/2) at Newbury (7f, good to firm) 41 days ago. In the mix. May improve for this new trip, being out of a 1m winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 +0%) Tactical Control |
9/2(+0%) | (4) Tactical Control 9/2, Back on song when second of 6 in nursery at Bath (8f, good, 9/1) 23 days ago. Can make his presence felt. Close second in similar event at Bath most recently; strong claims off 1lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/2 -38%) Continuance |
11/2(-38%) | (5) Continuance 11/2, Fair maiden who posted a good third of 10 in maiden at Bath (8f, good) 23 days ago. Weighted to go well on his handicap debut. Bred to do better still; possibilities on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (10/1 +17%) Mad Punter |
10/1(+17%) | (7) Mad Punter 10/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, fourteenth of 16 in minor event at Chelmsford City (7f) 39 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Not easy to make a case for. May do better now qualified for handicaps; receives weight all round. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (14/1 -65%) Zinchenko |
14/1(-65%) | (3) Zinchenko 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden and best run when fourth of 12 in minor event (200/1) at Kempton (7f) 17 days ago. Up in trip for his handicap debut and not taken lightly. Could go well, provided latest effort is backed up. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TACTICAL CONTROL seemed to appreciate a step up to this trip when runner-up at Bath last month and he makes plenty of appeal, especially given the fact he has been dropped 1lb by the handicapper for that effort. Zinchenko outran his 200/1 odds when fourth at Kempton and the extra furlong on his nursery bow promises to bring about improvement. Continuance and Bjorn Ironside can fight it out for minor money.
ZINCHENKO arrives on the back of a good Kempton fourth and with further improvement on the cards now upped in distance for his handicap bow he edges the vote. Phone Tag wasn't seen to best effect at Thirsk and is feared most for his in-form yard ahead of the handily weighted Continuance and handicap-debutant Bjorn Ironside.

1st (8) (9/2 -13%) Regal Jubilee |
9/2(-13%) | (8) Regal Jubilee 9/2, Very green when last of 9 in minor event at Newmarket (8f, good, 6/1) on debut 16 days ago. This Frankel filly can build on it now. Better than the bare result at Newmarket; ties in with Rainproof on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (1/2 +32%) Faayzah |
1/2(+32%) | (2) Faayzah 1/2, Twice-raced maiden, much better effort when second of 7 in minor event (4/1) at Thirsk (8f, good to soft) 38 days ago. May do better still. Leading form claims. Finished 1l second at Thirsk last month, improving on debut effort; leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (15/2 -7%) Rainproof |
15/2(-7%) | (7) Rainproof 15/2, Encouraging debut fifth of 9 in minor event (100/1) at Newmarket (8f, good) 16 days ago. Should have more to offer. In the mix. Showed promise at Newmarket, faring best of the debutantes; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (28/1 +30%) Breckenridge |
28/1(+30%) | (1) Breckenridge 28/1, Foaled February 27. 11,000 gns yearling, resold 30,000 gns yearling, Masar filly. Dam 1½m winner. Market can guide. Masar filly who is one of two newcomers in the field; market instructive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 +10%) Geliceaux |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Geliceaux 9/1, Foaled January 24. 21,000 gns foal, 42,000 gns yearling, Cracksman filly. Dam sprint maiden half-sister to smart winner up to 1¼m Juan Elcano. Noteworthy newcomer. 42,000gns yearling; by Cracksman; heed the market signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (25/1 +38%) Pink Ticket |
25/1(+38%) | (6) Pink Ticket 25/1, 12/1, fourth of 5 in minor event at Ascot (8f, good to firm) on debut 31 days ago. No forlorn hope if building on it here. Well-beaten fourth of five at Ascot, achieving little on the figures. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FAAYZAH had clearly benefited from her debut effort at Newmarket when filling the runner-up spot at Thirsk and a repeat of that display would make the daughter of Frankel hard to oppose. Geliceaux boasts a nice pedigree, coming from the family of Group 2-placed Juan Elcano, and she is of interest along with Regal Jubilee, who is expected to leave behind her Newmarket introduction.
FAAYZAH possesses much the best form on offer so is taken to go one better than his Thirsk second and get off the mark. Regal Jubilee proved very green when last at Newmarket on her recent debut and could emerge as the chief threat if, as expected, taking a sizeable step forward. Newmarket debut fifth Rainproof and newcomers Geliceaux and Breckenridge can't be ruled out either.

4/1(+0%) | (1) High Point 4/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 9/4, fair fourth of 11 in minor event at Kempton (8f) 12 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Considered. May well start to progress now handicapping and upped to 1m2f; still of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (13/2 +46%) Spaceport |
13/2(+46%) | (2) Spaceport 13/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Ninth of 12 in maiden (10/1) at Yarmouth (7f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Needs more. Could well improve now upped in trip on handicap debut; similar type to High Point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 +13%) Monterosa |
7/2(+13%) | (4) Monterosa 7/2, Thrice-raced maiden who posted a creditable fourth of 9 in minor event at Newmarket (8f, good) 16 days ago. Up in trip. Hood on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Possibilities. Out of her connections' Oaks winner Anapurna; very interesting off an opening mark of 73. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (2/1 +11%) Phoenix Passion |
2/1(+11%) | (5) Phoenix Passion 2/1, Promising sort who posted a career best when winning 6-runner nursery at Yarmouth (8f, soft) 18 days ago. Showed a good attitude there and he's weighted to go in again. Yarmouth success came in a lower grade but he may improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 +29%) Beauty Generation |
5/1(+29%) | (3) Beauty Generation 5/1, 1 win from 3 runs this year. Won 6-runner maiden at Chelmsford City (8f, 3/1) 62 days ago. Up in trip for his handicap debut and firmly in the picture. Opened his account at Chelmsford two months ago and may progress again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (22/1 -340%) Makuri |
22/1(-340%) | (6) Makuri 22/1, Modest maiden. 125/1, sixth of 7 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) 86 days ago. Significantly up in trip with more required now going into handicaps. Holds weak claims on her Newmarket efforts; handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PHOENIX PASSION displayed a fine attitude to get off the mark on his nursery debut at Yarmouth and a 4lb rise is unlikely to stop Ed Walker's colt from taking another step forward. The extra couple of furlongs may also be in his favour. High Point has been competitive on all three starts to date and he is respected, while others for the shortlist include Beauty Generation and Monterosa.
PHOENIX PASSION took his form up a notch when going in at Yarmouth on his nursery debut last time and a 4 lb rise looks insufficient to prevent him from following up. Beauty Generation is feared most on the back of his Chelmsford City maiden succes with fellow handicap debutants High Point and Monterosa also in the mix.

1st (3) (10/1 +0%) Repertoire |
10/1(+0%) | (3) Repertoire 10/1, Latest win at Newmarket in May. 15/2, seventh of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, good) 52 days ago. Enters calculations if shrugging off latest effort. On a fair mark and it was rare for him to run so moderately as he did last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/3 +33%) Cabinet Of Clowns |
10/3(+33%) | (1) Cabinet Of Clowns 10/3, Latest win at Chepstow in August. Good second of 13 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 12/1) 26 days ago. Well in the mix. Better for blinkers and only went down narrowly last time on the AW off 1lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/2 +25%) King Of Scotia |
9/2(+25%) | (5) King Of Scotia 9/2, Creditable fourth of 12 in handicap (25/1) at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Needs considering. First run over 1m when fourth at Newmarket and racing wide wouldn't have helped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (4/1 +56%) My Ambition |
4/1(+56%) | (10) My Ambition 4/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win at Bath in June. Not disgraced when seventh of 11 in handicap at Bath (8f, good to firm, 17/2) 26 days ago. Possibilities. Below par latest but this summer's peak form makes him a player off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 -13%) Sea Eagle |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Sea Eagle 9/1, Lightly-raced winner. Eighth of 9 in handicap at Newbury (8f, good to firm, 13/2) 41 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Can give a good account if back on his A-game. Has the ability to make a mark should new headgear help in any way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/4 +45%) Azahara Palace |
11/4(+45%) | (7) Azahara Palace 11/4, 3 wins from 7 runs this year. Latest win at Chepstow in September. Respectable fifth of 10 in handicap (18/1) at Newmarket (8f, good) 16 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Holding her form well as Newmarket last time wasn't that bad a run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (80/1 -220%) Cash Out |
80/1(-220%) | (2) Cash Out 80/1, Lightly-raced winner. Thirteenth of 15 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good, 22/1). Off 135 days. First run for yard after leaving Joseph Patrick O'Brien. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Must improve. AW winner for Joseph O'Brien; quiet handicap debut and then sold on for 55,000gns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (11/1 -10%) Night Arc |
11/1(-10%) | (6) Night Arc 11/1, Latest win at Sandown in July. Fair seventh of 11 in handicap (40/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 32 days ago so not totally dismissed. Only 3lb higher than for his last win and a strong pace up front would aid his cause. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Blinkers have squeezed some extra improvement out of CABINET OF CLOWNS lately and the four-year-old is fancied to build on his close-up second at Southwell. Repertoire has dropped to his last winning mark and merits respect on the return to class 4 company. David Simcock's gelding may give the selection most to do, ahead of Dream Of Mischief, who won over C&D in July off a 2lb lower rating.
A few with chances but DREAM OF MISCHIEF scored over C&D in July and signalled he's ready to go in again when a promising Lingfield third last time out. Three-time 2023 scorer Azahara Palace appeals as the one to give Amanda Perrett's 3-y-o most to do, although in-form duo Cabinet of Clowns and King of Scotia warrant plenty of respect too.

1st (11) (2/1 +20%) Midream |
2/1(+20%) | (11) Midream 2/1, Promising type. 11/2, second of 6 in minor event at Thirsk (6f, soft) on debut 21 days ago, clear of rest. Will be more street-wise this time and should make her presence felt. Promising debut in soft-ground maiden at Thirsk; major player if backing up that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (4/6 +33%) Silvretta |
4/6(+33%) | (12) Silvretta 4/6, Promising individual. Second of 9 in minor event (10/3) at Kempton (6f) 21 days ago. There's substance to her form and she probably wouldn't need to improve on that in order to go one better here. Strong piece of form last October; ran creditably on belated reappearance; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 -100%) Pride Of Spain |
16/1(-100%) | (7) Pride Of Spain 16/1, Promising sort. 10/1, third of 8 in minor event at Newcastle (6f) 10 days ago. Likely capable of better but he appeals as the type to come into his own in handicaps in due course. Placed at Newcastle on latest AW start; nicely bred filly who should improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (50/1 -178%) Sixties Chic |
50/1(-178%) | (13) Sixties Chic 50/1, Thrice-raced winner. Seventh of 8 in minor event at Nottingham (5f, good to soft, 8/1). Off 15 months and sizeable step forward now upped in trip. Market can guide on return from 16-month absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (200/1 -100%) Indie Skies |
200/1(-100%) | (4) Indie Skies 200/1, Twice-raced gelding. 300/1, last of 5 in minor event at Beverley (5f, heavy) 13 days ago. Back up in trip and he's hard to make a case for. Drops back in class but his bare form isn't compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (15/2 +17%) Invincible Pass |
15/2(+17%) | (5) Invincible Pass 15/2, Invincible Spirit colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 7f Dubawi Legend and useful 1¼m-1½m winner Golden Pass. Wears tongue strap. Likely type on paper and needs a close look in the betting. Half-brother to four winners for his connections, notably a Group 3 scorer; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (25/1 -108%) Advantage |
25/1(-108%) | (2) Advantage 25/1, £60,000 yearling, Profitable gelding. Half-brother to useful winner up to 6f Sunsprite. Dam 6f/7f winner. Interesting to see what the market has to say. £60,000 yearling; by Profitable; one of three newcomers in the field; market helpful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (50/1 -127%) Hallrose |
50/1(-127%) | (9) Hallrose 50/1, Twice-raced filly. Fourth of 8 in minor event at this course (5.1f, good, 100/1) 56 days ago, nearest finish. Another who will be of greater interest when going down the handicap route. Ran well over 5f here last time while shaping as if this extra furlong will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (150/1 -200%) Chico Dulce |
150/1(-200%) | (3) Chico Dulce 150/1, Twice-raced gelding. 22/1, last of 5 in maiden at Musselburgh (7.2f, good) 76 days ago, slowly away. First run for yard after leaving Phillip Makin and needs to raise his game. Needs to improve on the form he showed in two outings over 7f for Phillip Makin. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (150/1 -50%) Jesse Luc |
150/1(-50%) | (6) Jesse Luc 150/1, Once-raced gelding. 28/1, fifth of 7 in maiden at Brighton (8f, heavy) on debut 21 days ago. Down in trip and it's probably best to look elsewhere. Drop to sprinting may help but has a poor chance on Brighton debut form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (300/1 -200%) Hedenham |
300/1(-200%) | (10) Hedenham 300/1, Once-raced filly. Last of 7 in maiden at Brighton (8f, heavy, 66/1) on debut 21 days ago, very slowly away. Down in trip. Like stablemate Jesse Luc, she is hard to warm to. Inauspicious debut at Brighton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (66/1 -32%) Wee Geordie |
66/1(-32%) | (8) Wee Geordie 66/1, 48,000 gns yearling, Muhaarar gelding. Half-brother to 5f winner Love Love. Dam, 6f winner, half-sister to useful 1m/9f winner Polygreen. One to note in the betting. 48,000gns yearling; by Muhaarar out of 6f winner; follow the market signals. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SILVRETTA sets a strong standard on her comeback second at Kempton, having given the classy Sumo Sam a fright last year, and this looks a suitable opportunity for the daughter of Invincible Spirit to shed her maiden tag. Midream is the only conceivable threat of those who have raced and shouldn't be far away if building on her debut second at Kempton. Invincible Pass and Advantage are two interesting newcomers and any market support is worth noting.
SILVRETTA was just touched off by dual subsequent Group 2 winner Sumo Sam on the second of her two starts as a 2-y-o, and she shaped well dropped to this trip on her belated seasonal reappearance at Kempton 3 weeks ago. She is bred to be useful and is presented with a golden opportunity to open her account here. Midream's recent debut at Thirsk was encouraging and she gets the nod ahead of newcomers Invincible Pass and Advantage (in that order of preference) for forecast purposes.

11/2(-38%) | (1) Western Stars 11/2, 9/2, won 5-runner handicap at Haydock (10.2f, soft) 10 days ago. Nudged up just 2 lb and going back back up in trip won't be a problem, so he has to enter calculations. Good-ground winner; checked in run but led close home latest (1m2f, soft); well treated. |

2nd (8) (9/4 +55%) Stage Show |
9/4(+55%) | (8) Stage Show 9/4, 5/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable third of 11 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 26 days ago and should be in the mix off the same mark here. Maiden; consistent rather than progressive, including over this trip; extra needed. |

3rd (6) (15/2 +6%) Mrembo |
15/2(+6%) | (6) Mrembo 15/2, C&D winner. 3 wins from 10 runs this year, the latest here in September. 9/2, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Epsom (10.1f, good to firm) 25 days ago. Place possibilities. Won latest 3 attempts at about 1m3f; current mark shouldn't be beyond her. |

4th (2) (16/1 -78%) Mrs Meader |
16/1(-78%) | (2) Mrs Meader 16/1, Creditable second of 8 in handicap (20/1) at Newcastle (12.4f) 28 days ago, no match for winner. 1 lb lower now and she's not without each-way hope. Progressive at 1m2f-1m4f in 2022; signalled revival in July; below par only turf run since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 -71%) Feyha |
12/1(-71%) | (9) Feyha 12/1, 5/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Epsom (12f, good to firm) 25 days ago, suited by way race developed. 4 lb rise could leave her vulnerable. Middling form for new yard until finding plenty over 1m4f at Epsom; could go on from that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/2 +50%) Greased Lightning |
11/2(+50%) | (7) Greased Lightning 11/2, C&D winner in July. 5/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at Bath (14f, good) 23 days ago. Good run of form came to a halt at Bath last time but wouldn't be without a chance if able to bounce back. Raced over further since C&D win in July; down the field latest; needs revival. |

7th (10) (16/1 -33%) Charlie Arthur |
16/1(-33%) | (10) Charlie Arthur 16/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, bit below form 7¼ lengths sixth of 12 to Mrembo in handicap (9/2) at this C&D (good to firm) 35 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Placed in 3 of his last 4 starts but below 2022 best; has in-form rivals to worry about. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (33/1 +18%) Pride Of Hawridge |
33/1(+18%) | (5) Pride Of Hawridge 33/1, 10/1 and blinkered for 1st time, seventh of 8 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (16f, good to soft) 161 days ago. Off 161 days and he's entitled to come on for the run. Flat winner at 1m/1m2f; hurdle career took a dark turn in the spring; off since May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (8/1 -45%) Decisive Call |
8/1(-45%) | (12) Decisive Call 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving Roger Teal when very good second of 11 in handicap (10/1) at Brighton (9.9f, heavy) 21 days ago. Just 4 runs under his belt and this stiffer test may help unlock a bit more. Quite promising handicap/yard debut upped to 1m2f; unexposed; worth a go over further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (9/1 +25%) Hurtle |
9/1(+25%) | (4) Hurtle 9/1, Respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (11f, 5/1) 54 days ago. Placed over this C&D twice prior to that and could have a part to play if on-song back here following a wind op. Capable of a good show on C&D form in early summer; wind op since AW defeat in August. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WESTERN STARS came good at the third time of asking for current connections when triumphing at Haydock. A 2lb rise looks more than manageable for the four-year-old and a quick double could be in the offing. Stage Show may have gone for home too soon when weakening into third at Kempton and is a viable alternative now reverting to turf, while last month's C&D winner Mrembo cannot be ruled out either.
It wasn't a particularly strong race that WESTERN STARS landed at Haydock recently, but he remains on a competitive mark up just 2 lb and is taken to strike again. Though still a maiden following nine attempts, Stage Show has shown enough to suggest that he has a race in him off this sort of mark and he is feared most. Decisive Call took a step forward at Brighton and is also accorded respect, along with C&D winner Greased Lightning.

GEELONG has been in consistent form of late and dropping back in trip can see him at his best, having gone well for a long way over further at Newcastle last month. The four-year-old remains on a workable mark and he gets the vote ahead of C&D winner Major Major and Arenas Del Tiempo, who has strong claims on her penultimate effort at Epsom. Others to note include Between The Covers, Change Of Fortune and Showy.
A tight-knit handicap but GEELONG arrives at the top of his game so edges the vote off a still handy-looking mark following his good Newcastle second. In-form pair On The Right Track and Change of Fortune bring solid credentials to the table too and can chase home Paul & Oliver Cole's 4-y-o in that oder. Major Major completes the shortlist.

PHOENIX GLOW wasn't beaten far at Bath last month and the small step back up in trip looks a good move as she aims to make it two wins from her last four starts. The form of her stable is another plus and she is preferred to the hat-trick-seeking On Edge, as well as Lahina Bay, who did it well at Salisbury last time out. Corinthia Knight and Sparked are capable of being in the shake-up also.
The vote goes to BIG BARD, who was just touched off in this race last year and the first of his three wins this season was gained over C&D in April (sole previous occasion that he has been partnered by Alec Voikhansky). The 5-y-o wasn't seen to best effect at Bath when last seen in August, so shouldn't be judged too harshly on that display. Porterinthejungle can also be forgiven for a below par effort last time and she is next on the list ahead of Corinthia Knight and hat-trick seeker On Edge.
Ths is the racecard key.
