1st (8) (7/1 -8%) Tourist |
7/1(-8%) | (8) Tourist 7/1, Winner at Doncaster in July. Failed to meet expectations when fifth of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good, 9/4) 11 days ago. Should get back on track. Prominent racer; below best at Nottingham latest but earlier Doncaster form is solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (13/2 +35%) Havana Pusey |
13/2(+35%) | (2) Havana Pusey 13/2, C&D winner in June. 9/1, wasn't seen to best effect when ninth of 11 in handicap at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) 25 days ago, short of room when carried right 1f out. Can get back on track. Impressive over C&D in June but she's come up short off her revised mark twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 +15%) Many A Star |
11/2(+15%) | (1) Many A Star 11/2, 20/1, ran creditably without needing any excuses when seventh of 16 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 12 days ago. Enters calculations back down in grade. Conditions to suit, on a handy mark and ran okay in a better race here 12 days ago; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/2 +0%) Indian Creak |
7/2(+0%) | (4) Indian Creak 7/2, 5-time C&D winner. 28/1, turned in his best effort of the season when fourth of 16 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 12 days ago. Looks up to taking advantage of a reduced mark back down in class. Multiple C&D winner; close fourth off this mark here 12 days ago; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (18/1 +10%) Danger Alert |
18/1(+10%) | (5) Danger Alert 18/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Fared no better when tenth of 12 in handicap (20/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 5 days ago. Bounce back needed. Low-key C&D run on Monday; needs to leave that well behind him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (5/1 -100%) Heartwarmer |
5/1(-100%) | (6) Heartwarmer 5/1, 5/2 and tongue strap on for 1st time, resumed progress back sprinting when winning 7-runner handicap at this C&D (firm) 3 weeks ago. Up 6 lb and fancied to be in the mix again. Strong at the finish over C&D three weeks ago; 6lb higher against male opposition here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (8/1 +43%) Lequinto |
8/1(+43%) | (3) Lequinto 8/1, Quirky sort. 3-time C&D winner. Possibly still needed the run when last of 8 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 18/1) 26 days ago. Jamie Spencer takes over from a 5 lb apprentice. Down the field in two runs this year but on good mark and Jamie Spencer a notable booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (25/1 +38%) Al Shabab |
25/1(+38%) | (9) Al Shabab 25/1, Ran respectably dropped back to this trip when tenth of 15 in handicap (66/1) at Haydock (6f, firm) just under 3 weeks ago. Mark eases a shade further but others more appealing. Yet to shine for new yard and may need some more help from the handicapper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (6/1 -71%) Pen Portrait |
6/1(-71%) | (7) Pen Portrait 6/1, Hooded for 1st time, got back on track when third of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good, 6/1) 11 days ago, running on. Task is now to build on that. Good third after a slow start at Nottingham 11 days ago; in the mix once again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
INDIAN CREAK was beaten just a length in a hot handicap over course and distance on his latest start. Jack Channon's sprinter looks set to take advantage of a potentially lenient mark having won off 8lb higher this time last year. Heartwarmer won here with plenty left in the tank and is not easily dismissed raised 6lb, while Nottingham third Pen Portrait is another three-year-old open to further improvement.
A trappy sprint in which the suggestion is INDIAN CREAK, who turned in his best effort of the season when fourth over C&D 12 days ago and Jack Channon's 7-y-o looks up to taking advantage of his reduced mark back down in class. Heartwarmer doubled his tally over this C&D 3 weeks ago so he heads up the dangers, with Many A Star and Tourist rounding off the shortlist.
The 7yos MANY A STAR, Indian Creak and Lequinto all like it here and can prove too strong for their younger rivals.

1st (8) (11/8 +15%) Midnight Thunder |
11/8(+15%) | (8) Midnight Thunder 11/8, Made a very promising start when second of 7 in maiden (15/8) at Pontefract (6f, good) on debut 17 days ago, taking the eye with how he swooped past the whole of the field after forfeiting plenty of ground (very slowly away and soon behind). Should progress. Would surely have won at Pontefract had he not conceded lengths at the start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (22/1 -38%) Double Rush |
22/1(-38%) | (4) Double Rush 22/1, Foaled April 1. Blue Point colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 11f winner Macra and 7.5f winner Mirage, both in France. Dam lightly-raced sister to smart 1¼m winner (stayed 1½m) Mighty and half-sister to smart winner up to 6f Danehurst. Half-brother to French winners Mirage (7.5f), Macra (1m3f) and La Grive (1m4f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/1 -29%) Elyam |
9/1(-29%) | (5) Elyam 9/1, 4/1, went backwards from debut when fifth of 10 in novice at Newmarket (6f, good) just over 3 weeks ago. Hood on 1st time. Debut effort reads well and raced too freely to give himself a chance at Newmarket. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (16/1 -100%) Siegen |
16/1(-100%) | (1) Siegen 16/1, Winner at Sandown in June but hasn't yet gone on in nurseries, only ninth of 12 at Newbury (6f, good to firm, 20/1) 8 days ago. More required back in novice company. Beaten in both his nurseries and faces no easy task here with his extra weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 -25%) Charmoula |
20/1(-25%) | (3) Charmoula 20/1, Foaled March 3. Pinatubo colt. Closely related to 1¼m winner Dunes King. Dam, 2-y-o 7f winner, sister to 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold. Market check advised. Closely related to 1m2f winner Dunes King (RPR 88); dam 7f 2yo winner (87). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (3/1 -33%) Milford |
3/1(-33%) | (2) Milford 3/1, Debut winner at Hamilton in May. Went backwards when 7¼ lengths eleventh of 13 to Shareholder in Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot (5f, firm, 14/1) 3 weeks later. Up in trip. Gelded and fancied to get back on track returned to calmer waters. This is easier than the Norfolk at Royal Ascot and retains potential having been gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (66/1 -100%) Hot Frank |
66/1(-100%) | (6) Hot Frank 66/1, 66/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, eleventh of 13 in novice at Kempton (7f) 17 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Nurseries after this should prove more suitable. Doesn't look ready to win races judged on his first two efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (40/1 +20%) Sultan Of Oj |
40/1(+20%) | (10) Sultan Of Oj 40/1, 100/1, showed more than first time up when seventh of 12 in novice at this C&D (good to firm) 40 days ago, not knocked about. His second seventh-placed finish was over C&D last month when midfield. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (100/1 -52%) Little Jumby |
100/1(-52%) | (7) Little Jumby 100/1, Went backwards from debut when tenth of 12 in novice at Salisbury (6f, good to firm, 150/1) 10 days ago, slowly away. Both runs at Salisbury; beat nothing home on debut and then only two rivals last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (150/1 -50%) Magna |
150/1(-50%) | (13) Magna 150/1, Too green to show anything when eleventh of 13 in novice (66/1) at this C&D (good to firm) on debut 33 days ago. Went off 66-1 for last month's C&D debut and was never sighted with a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (9/2 +10%) Tawasol |
9/2(+10%) | (11) Tawasol 9/2, Foaled January 17. 36,000 gns foal, 240,000 gns yearling, Havana Grey colt. Dam, 6f winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to smart 6f winner Tabdeed from family of Derby runner-up Walk In The Park. Interesting newcomer. Wears tongue strap. 240,000gns yearling; dam 6f winner closely related to useful 6f-8.7f winner Glengarra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (33/1 +18%) Spirit Lead Me |
33/1(+18%) | (9) Spirit Lead Me 33/1, 14/1, ran to just a similar level as on debut when eighth of 15 in maiden at Newmarket (6f, good) just over 2 weeks ago. 82,000gns breeze-up buy; from off the pace he's made no impression in 7f/6f maidens. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) (50/1 +0%) Wiesaam |
50/1(+0%) | (12) Wiesaam 50/1, Fared little better than on debut when ninth of 15 in maiden at Newmarket (6f, good, 25/1) just over 2 weeks ago. High-profile connections but has performed to a modest level in both his races (7f/6f). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MIDNIGHT THUNDER blew the start at Pontefract on his introduction and did well to finish second given the circumstances. Saeed bin Suroor's Kodiac colt will likely launch a serious challenge with that experience under his belt. Milford was outclassed in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot but looks a threat back at this level, while improvement is expected from Elyam now he's fitted with a hood.
MIDNIGHT THUNDER made a very promising start amidst greenness when runner-up in a Pontefract maiden earlier this month and with improvement on the cards, Saeed bin Suroor's colt is fancied to go a place better at the expense of Milford, who made a winning debut at Hamilton back in May and wasn't disgraced pitched into Group 2 company at the Royal Meeting next time. Tawasol and Charmoula both look interesting newcomers on paper so complete the shortlist.
Milford and Elyam are respected but MIDNIGHT THUNDER would have won at Pontefract had he got away on terms.

1st (3) (6/1 +20%) Sea Of Roses |
6/1(+20%) | (3) Sea Of Roses 6/1, Twelve runs since her sole success in 2022. However, has placed on her last 2 starts, despite having been shuffled back after 4f when 2 lengths third of 8 to High Spirited in listed race at Salisbury (9.9f, good to firm, 7/2) 10 days ago. More needed. Has only won a maiden from 14 starts but she's a solid Listed/Group performer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/10 +0%) Deira Mile |
11/10(+0%) | (5) Deira Mile 11/10, Off the mark at this course (10f) in April, before running a cracker in first-time cheekpieces when 7½ lengths fourth of 16 to City of Troy in Derby at Epsom (12f, good to soft, 25/1) 84 days ago. Not taken lightly, but would want the forecast rain to materialise. The Derby fourth who won't be inconvenienced by the forecast rain; the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/4 +0%) Aimeric |
9/4(+0%) | (1) Aimeric 9/4, Won handicap at Lingfield on return before runner-up in listed races next 2 starts. Only fourth of 5 in Glorious Stakes at Goodwood (12f, good to firm, 5/2) 3 weeks ago, but he's a major player back down in grade. First run for yard after leaving Roger Varian. Progressive profile in these colours for Roger Varian; solid chance but rain not welcomed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 +8%) Cash |
6/1(+8%) | (2) Cash 6/1, Lightly raced for his age, making the frame in listed/Group 3 races on first 2 starts last year. Below form in Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot (8f, good, 28/1) when last seen 14 months ago, but he's capable of getting involved if ready to go on return. Proven at Listed level but absent since contesting a Group 1 at Royal Ascot last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
DEIRA MILE has his first outing since finishing a respectable fourth in the Derby. The St Leger entrant has every chance on these terms and can resume winning ways having landed a novice race here back in April. Aimeric was slightly disappointing at Goodwood latest having gone close in Listed company at Newmarket before that, but he's still preferred to Salisbury third Sea Of Roses. Cash makes a belated seasonal debut and is capable of going well on the pick of his form.
AIMERIC has shown improved form this year, successful in a Lingfield handicap before running well in a pair of listed races, so he could be able to bounce back to winning ways returned to this level. Deira Mile is feared most after his fourth in the Derby, though any rain would help his chances, with Cash also one to note on his reappearance.
Three-year-olds hold their own in this and DEIRA MILE is hard to oppose after posting a clear career best when fourth in the Derby.

1st (3) (2/1 +11%) My Prospero |
2/1(+11%) | (3) My Prospero 2/1, Listed winner at Goodwood last year. After 10 months off, not discredited when third of 7 in conditions stakes at Goodwood (9f, firm, 6/4) 22 days ago. Leading contender back up in trip with his recent run behind him. Profile includes quality snippets of Group 1 form; can improve on his comback run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/1 +7%) Certain Lad |
7/1(+7%) | (2) Certain Lad 7/1, Successful in listed race at Compiegne in June and again ran well when neck second of 5 to Anmaat in Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock (10.4f, good to firm, 7/1) 2 weeks ago. Can give another good account. Beaten by a former Group 1 winner last time; has been running up to his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (5/2 +9%) Persica |
5/2(+9%) | (9) Persica 5/2, Quickly resumed his progress when making it 2 wins from his last 3 starts in 10-runner handicap at Sandown (10f, soft, 5/2) 49 days ago, the front pair coming a long way clear. Respected as he moves up in grade. Impressed in a 1m2f Sandown handicap last time (soft) with the front two miles clear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (20/1 +39%) Novus |
20/1(+39%) | (7) Novus 20/1, Three-time winner last year who was runner-up in listed race at Goodwood in May. However, below form last 2 starts, 12¼ lengths fifth of 8 to Queen of The Pride in Lancashire Oaks at Haydock (11.8f, good, 33/1) 49 days ago. Has won a Group 3 on soft ground and significant rain would give her a squeak. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/2 +10%) Bracken's Laugh |
9/2(+10%) | (8) Bracken's Laugh 9/2, Made a winning return at Chelmsford before good second in listed race at Chester in May. Respectable 4¾ lengths fifth of 12 to Jayarebe in Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot (10f, firm, 17/2) 65 days ago. Has had a wind op since. Needs to find some improvement to collect on these terms but the potential is there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (18/1 +0%) Savvy Victory |
18/1(+0%) | (5) Savvy Victory 18/1, Landed a listed race at Sandown last summer. Runner-up in latest renewal of the same event, but 4¼ lengths last of 5 to Phantom Flight in listed race at Newbury (10f, good to firm, 13/2) 35 days ago. Bounce back called for. Well behind My Prospero when they last clashed 11 months ago; up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (25/1 -79%) Cairo |
25/1(-79%) | (1) Cairo 25/1, Runner-up on 2 of 3 starts since leaving Aidan O'Brien, in first-time cheekpieces when second of 7 in conditions stakes at Goodwood (9f, firm, 16/1) 22 days ago. Faces a tougher ask back up in grade. Upside My Prospero last time at Goodwood but was receiving 5lb from that rival. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
The classy My Prospero made a pleasing belated seasonal reappearance when finishing third at Glorious Goodwood despite not enjoying the clearest of passages, and he must be respected in a bid to go two places better. That said, BRACKEN'S LAUGH edges preference. The form of his fifth in the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot has a strong look to it and, on his first start since undergoing wind surgery, this looks a good opportunity for him. Progressive handicapper Persica is well worth his place at this level and completes the shortlist.
MY PROSPERO was beaten only ½ length when third at Goodwood on his reappearance conceding weight all round, so he can build on that effort to resume winning ways as he goes back up in trip. The main danger could be Persica, who has been going the right way in handicaps and is well worth his place upped in grade, ahead of Sean.
An on-song My Prospero would take some beating but BRACKEN'S LAUGH (nap) remains unexposed and he's had a wind op since last time.

1st (7) (3/1 -9%) Arkhalia Flynn |
3/1(-9%) | (7) Arkhalia Flynn 3/1, Going the right way, making it 2-3 in handicaps when comfortably seeing off 4 rivals at Ffos Las (1m, soft) 18 days ago. A 5 lb rise shouldn't prevent another prominent showing from him. Looked happy on soft at Ffos Las and has a big shout should conditions ease. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (7/1 +50%) Law Supreme |
7/1(+50%) | (8) Law Supreme 7/1, Winner at Bath in April. 25/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Sandown (1m, good) 16 days ago. Competitive mark and good chance if conditions go his way (likes give underfoot). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 +59%) Repertoire |
9/2(+59%) | (3) Repertoire 9/2, C&D winner. Seventh of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (1m, good to soft, 12/1) 44 days ago. Had been in good form prior to that and capable of bouncing back under Spencer. Wouldn't want the ground to turn too soft and an infrequent winner at the best of times. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 +33%) Pitney |
5/1(+33%) | (5) Pitney 5/1, AW winner at 2. 11/2, creditable seventh of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 23 days ago, nearest finish. Visor on first time. Not seen to best effect the last twice on either side of being gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (9/1 +64%) Achillea |
9/1(+64%) | (9) Achillea 9/1, Ninth of 12 in handicap (66/1) at Kempton (1m) 10 days ago, left poorly placed. 3lb beneath the mark of her two wins but this season's disappointments need forgiving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/2 +56%) Intercessor |
7/2(+56%) | (4) Intercessor 7/2, Latest win at Brighton in April. Creditable second of 13 in handicap over this C&D (good to firm) 82 days ago. Enters the reckoning again. No luck two runs ago but in good form otherwise and went down narrowly over C&D last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (33/1 +0%) Green Power |
33/1(+0%) | (11) Green Power 33/1, In good form on AW at the start of the year but has struggled on turf more recently. Should be on a good mark but hasn't been firing as he can of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (14/1 +44%) Dembe |
14/1(+44%) | (10) Dembe 14/1, Twenty one runs since last win in 2022. Tenth of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Chester (7.5f, good) 28 days ago. Unlikely that he took to Chester last time and wasn't running badly before then. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ARKHALIA FLYNN appeared to relish the step up to 1m when scoring with the minimum of fuss at Ffos Las earlier this month and, upped 5lb, it would be no surprise if he were able to complete a double with the possibility of further improvement not out of the question. This step back up in trip can help Lyndon B and he can emerge as the main danger to the selection off what looks a workable mark. A 1lb rise for a recent C&D second doesn't discount Intercessor.
The improving ARKHALIA FLYNN can take the next up the step the ladder in his stride. Fellow 3-y-o Midnight Drive is an obvious danger assuming she's ready to roll after a break. Lyndon B caught the eye at Newbury recently and looks best of the older brigade.
A few with chances and they include PITNEY, for whom the cards haven't fallen too favourably the last twice.

1st (2) (5/2 +25%) Elforleather |
5/2(+25%) | (2) Elforleather 5/2, 9/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Ffos Las (12f, heavy) 10 days ago. Ought to be thereabouts despite a 4 lb rise in the weights. Two near-misses this summer prior to recent Ffos Las win; could give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/4 +0%) Red Cloud |
11/4(+0%) | (6) Red Cloud 11/4, Got off the mark at Chepstow in June and backed it up with a good second of 10 in minor event (11/10) at Lingfield (12f, AW) 25 days ago. Weighted to go well back in handicap company. Improved form upped to 1m2f then 1m4f the last twice and might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (18/1 +28%) Innisfree Pearl |
18/1(+28%) | (7) Innisfree Pearl 18/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 10 in novice at Newbury (10f, good to firm) 35 days ago, slowly away. Tongue strap on for her handicap bow. Needs a major step forward. Market check advised on handicap debut but she's shown very little thus far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (3/1 +70%) Little Venice |
3/1(+70%) | (3) Little Venice 3/1, Winner at Beverley in June. Only seventh of 9 in handicap (10/3) at Chepstow (10f, good to firm) 37 days ago on her final run for Nigel Tinkler but no surprise to see her bounce back for her new yard here. Some good form this summer but below par last month on final run for Nigel Tinkler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (7/2 +46%) Lady Birdie |
7/2(+46%) | (8) Lady Birdie 7/2, 11/2, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Yarmouth (11.5f, good) 16 days ago. In the mix once more. 0-7 but she's been a promising third the last twice and may well be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 -22%) Daidalos |
22/1(-22%) | (4) Daidalos 22/1, Thrice-raced maiden, gelded/off 4 months before coming in last of 7 in maiden at Catterick (12.1f, soft) 93 days ago. Tongue strap on for his handicap debut with lots more required. Hasn't shown much but now goes handicapping off a lowly mark; market check advised. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Elforleather arrives on the back of a comfortable victory over 1m4f at Ffos Las and it would be no surprise if he had a part to play once again off a 4lb higher mark. That said, the hat-trick seeking KINETIC looks a more solid proposition for win purposes. James Owen's charge scored with plenty in hand over 1m4f at Wolverhampton on Tuesday and she looks capable of successfully shouldering a 6lb penalty in this company. Red Cloud is respected most of the remainder.
KINETIC is thriving under the expert tutelage of James Owen and fancied to defy a 6 lb penalty and rattle off a quick hat-trick. Handily-weighted Red Cloud rates the chief danger now back in handicap company with Ffos Las victor Elforleather and Neil Mulholland's new recruit Little Venice not discounted either.
Topweight KINETIC has thrived since joining James Owen and can complete a hat-trick. Elforleather could be best of the rest.
Ths is the racecard key.
