1st (3) (1.5/1 +33%) Fame And Fun |
1.5/1(+33%) | (3) Fame And Fun 1.5/1, Made a winning handicap debut at Taunton (19f) after Christmas and solid placed efforts since, runner-up at Newbury on latest occasion. Back up in trip and makes plenty of appeal.
2nd (4) (3/1 +25%) Stanley Pincombe |
3/1(+25%) | (4) Stanley Pincombe 3/1, Failed to make an impact switched to fences this season but was right back on track when scoring at Taunton last time and looks set to go well again.
3rd (6) (5.5/1 +54%) Gaia Vallis |
5.5/1(+54%) | (6) Gaia Vallis 5.5/1, Scored a couple of times last season and was back to form when third at Stratford 15 days ago. One to consider.
4th (5) (6.5/1 +28%) Royal Sam |
6.5/1(+28%) | (5) Royal Sam 6.5/1, Point winner who was progressing steadily over hurdles prior to a sub-par fourth at Plumpton a month ago. No surprise if he gets back on track.
|U| (1) (5/1 -43%) Energy One |
5/1(-43%) | (1) Energy One 5/1, Improved to make a winning handicap debut at Ludlow last month but wasn't in the same form at Newbury next time. Back in a less-competitive environment, now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FAME AND FUN has been knocking on the door in recent starts, including when filling the runner-up spot at Newbury on his latest appearance, and the Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old could regain the winning thread down in class. Taunton scorer Stanley Pincombe merits the utmost respect, as does Energy One, who was far from disgraced in a Grade 2 mares' novices' handicap at Newbury.
FAME AND FUN has been in good order since scoring at Taunton just after Christmas and he could get back to winning ways now. Great Ocean is one to note dropping back in trip after a more encouraging effort and Stanley Pincombe should go well again.
Top of the list is FAME AND FUN, who has held his form well since his win in December and may yet have a bigger run in him.

1st (11) (4.5/1 +25%) Buckhorn Rocco |
4.5/1(+25%) | (11) Buckhorn Rocco 4.5/1, Bumper winner who has made the frame in 4 novice hurdles. Bit disappointing when only third at Exeter last time but looks the sort to benefit from first-time headgear now handicapping. Interesting.
2nd (6) (5/1 -11%) El Muchacho |
5/1(-11%) | (6) El Muchacho 5/1, Point winner who has progressed nicely over hurdles, winning a couple of 2m handicaps (latest at Catterick in January) before a near-miss in February. Quickly back to form at Bangor last time and should give another good account.
3rd (3) (14/1 +0%) Restitution |
14/1(+0%) | (3) Restitution 14/1, Well suited by the emphasis on speed when showing much improved form to land a third handicap hurdle success of his career at Doncaster (2m) over Christmas. Struggled since, though, and will probably find this too competitive again.
4th (8) (11/1 +56%) The Pink'n |
11/1(+56%) | (8) The Pink'n 11/1, Pretty useful form in this sphere a couple of seasons back but not firing of late. Others make more appeal.
5th (13) (18/1 +45%) Way Out |
18/1(+45%) | (13) Way Out 18/1, Off the mark in Irish points at the third attempt and displayed plenty of ability on first 2 starts in bumpers. More miss than hit so far over hurdles, though.
6th (2) (6/1 -71%) The Bomber Liston |
6/1(-71%) | (2) The Bomber Liston 6/1, Seemingly hard to train but ran well after 8 months off to hit the frame at Kempton on Boxing Day and returned to form over the same C&D last month. Respected.
7th (7) (8.5/1 -6%) Hermes Du Gouet |
8.5/1(-6%) | (7) Hermes Du Gouet 8.5/1, Well-regarded point winner who was much improved as he made all in 16.7f Exeter novice hurdle in January. Solid effort when third at Plumpton next time and could do better for a switch to handicaps.
8th (12) (9/1 +36%) The Street |
9/1(+36%) | (12) The Street 9/1, Fairly useful hurdles winner last term but things haven't gone to plan so far this season and he was pulled up at Plumpton last time. Hard to fancy.
9th (5) (20/1 -82%) Scarpia |
20/1(-82%) | (5) Scarpia 20/1, Won at Plumpton last year and back to form the last twice, again hitting the frame at Kempton last time. Ideally suited by further, though.
10th (10) (8/1 +11%) Hermes Boy |
8/1(+11%) | (10) Hermes Boy 8/1, Looked a horse to follow this time last year but added to patchy record when pulled up in Lanzarote at Kempton and wasn't really on song at Sandown last time. Tongue tie goes on.
11th (1) (33/1 -32%) Lock's Corner |
33/1(-32%) | (1) Lock's Corner 33/1, Ran out a decisive winner at Catterick and Ayr (both at around 2½m) at the end of last year. Appears to have gone off the boil for now, though.
12th (4) (40/1 -82%) Poseidon |
40/1(-82%) | (4) Poseidon 40/1, Useful chaser at his best who made a successful return to hurdling in a seller at Taunton in December. Only respectable effort since for new yard came when sixth at Newbury in a tongue tie 43 days ago and he doesn't make a great deal of appeal for win purposes.
|PU| (14) (11/1 +8%) Lifetime Legend |
11/1(+8%) | (14) Lifetime Legend 11/1, Built on early promise to get off the mark in female jockeys' event at Catterick (19f, good, 9/4) in February. Not in the same form when fifth at Fontwell the following week but he might have found the run coming too soon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Having struck the woodwork in a 0-145 contest at Kempton last time out, THE BOMBER LISTON can take full advantage of a drop in class to score from a 1lb higher mark. First-time cheekpieces could elicit further improvement within handicap debutant Buckhorn Rocco, while El Muchacho must also enter calculations having run well for third in a class 2 handicap at Bangor last month.
BUCKHORN ROCCO has already spurned a couple of good opportunities over hurdles but he's unexposed and well treated on bumper form, so he's worth a chance to make a winning handicap debut in first-time cheekpieces. The Bomber Liston and Hermes du Gouet are both feasible dangers.
The pick is EL MUCHACHO, who didn't seem to be favoured by the way the race panned out when third last time and may still be improving.

1st (3) (3/1 -33%) Double Click |
3/1(-33%) | (3) Double Click 3/1, Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler College Oak. Dam, bumper winner, half-sister to triple Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate. Unplaced all 3 starts in Irish points but prominent in the betting prior to finishing third of 6 at Fontwell (19.2f) on hurdles bow recently. Respected down in trip.
2nd (1) (5.5/1 +61%) Alkhattaaf |
5.5/1(+61%) | (1) Alkhattaaf 5.5/1, Modest on the Flat (stays 2m) and showed a bit on hurdling bow despite finishing well held in a Chepstow novice (2m) in October. Failed to improve having been held back by mistakes at Taunton a month later.
3rd (2) (3.33/1 -21%) Cumhacht |
3.33/1(-21%) | (2) Cumhacht 3.33/1, Just denied in bumper at Thurles for John Kiely last spring. Disappointing in that sphere for this yard but did at least show more when fourth on hurdles debut at Ludlow last month. Could be the way to go.
4th (4) (2.5/1 +79%) Prince Nino |
2.5/1(+79%) | (4) Prince Nino 2.5/1, Limited impact from a modest mark in handicaps of late but this isn't a deep race back in maiden company. Blinkers replace cheekpieces.
5th (7) (8/1 -45%) Delgany Dreamer |
8/1(-45%) | (7) Delgany Dreamer 8/1, Easy to back and shaped as though she'd come on for the experience when fifth in 6-runner Huntingdon bumper on debut last month. Turned out quickly and still didn't look the finished article when fifth of 9 switched to hurdling.
6th (5) (10/1 -11%) Smart Casual |
10/1(-11%) | (5) Smart Casual 10/1, Bumper run wasn't devoid of promise but looks a handicap project over hurdles. That said, this isn't a strong race so worth a look in the betting given connections.
7th (6) (66/1 -100%) Anne Bonny |
66/1(-100%) | (6) Anne Bonny 66/1, Underwent a breathing op after pulling up in a bumper and did at least hint at ability on last month's hurdles bow here.
8th (9) (20/1 -43%) Well Paid Soldier |
20/1(-43%) | (9) Well Paid Soldier 20/1, Soldier of Fortune mare. Closely related to fairly useful hurdler General Mahler, and half-sister to 2 winners, including fairly useful hurdle winner/chaser Roll The Dough. Given a considerate introduction over C&D 3 weeks ago and should come on for that.
9th (8) (150/1 +25%) Nowyouvebinandunit |
150/1(+25%) | (8) Nowyouvebinandunit 150/1, Well held completed start over hurdles.
|PU| (10) (66/1 -371%) D Day Hero |
66/1(-371%) | (10) D Day Hero 66/1, Little show in maiden/minor events on Flat for Mark Loughnane. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Double Click wasn't disgraced on his Rules/hurdling debut at Fontwell recently, finishing third, and he merits respect with improvement likely, but a chance is taken on PRINCE NINO. Harry Derham's charge drops back into maiden company having struggled on his last two handicap starts, and first-time blinkers could hold the key to him. Others to note include Cumhacht and Well Paid Soldier.
By no means a strong maiden hurdle so CUMHACHT, who stopped the slide for this yard switched to hurdling in a race that worked out well, could be the answer. Double Click and Prince Nino are possible threats.
This uncompetitive maiden might go to DOUBLE CLICK, who shaped with promise on his recent rules debut.

1st (5) (2.12/1 +6%) Odin's Quest |
2.12/1(+6%) | (5) Odin's Quest 2.12/1, Made successful start himself in 5-runner newcomers bumper at Huntingdon in January 2022 and far from disgraced under a penalty next 2 starts. Showed promise when fourth in a reasonable novice at Sandown on hurdles bow but shaped as if amiss next time. Worth another chance with yard going well.
2nd (4) (2.5/1 +55%) Jack Sprat |
2.5/1(+55%) | (4) Jack Sprat 2.5/1, Out of a winning hurdler and showed ability in bumpers. Much better for hurdles bow when third in novice at Huntingdon, not knocked about. Player on that form and has room for improvement in the jumping department.
3rd (10) (33/1 -83%) Energy Two |
33/1(-83%) | (10) Energy Two 33/1, Kayf Tara filly. Dam 2m hurdle winner, also 10.7f-1½m winner on Flat. Attracted some support at long odds but shaped as if amiss when pulled up in bumper at Warwick (16f, good to soft) on NH debut 51 days ago.
4th (6) (7/1 +18%) Ventara |
7/1(+18%) | (6) Ventara 7/1, Failed to complete on recent hurdles debut at Taunton and never likely to benefit from a drop in trip when a one-paced fifth in C&D maiden 3 weeks ago.
5th (3) (6/1 -50%) Hobb's Delight |
6/1(-50%) | (3) Hobb's Delight 6/1, Milan gelding. Dam 3m-27f hurdle/chase winner. 25/1, fourth of 10 in bumper at Worcester (16f, heavy) on NH debut, needing stronger gallop. Off 18 months. Makes hurdles debut.
6th (9) (6/1 -20%) Definite |
6/1(-20%) | (9) Definite 6/1, Fairly useful performer at best on Flat, stays 1¼m, step back in right direction last time. Makes hurdles debut in a weak event so worth considering.
7th (2) (33/1 +0%) Gun Runner Cash |
33/1(+0%) | (2) Gun Runner Cash 33/1, Perth bumper winner for Gordon Elliott a year ago but all downhill since, not taking to hurdling.
8th (7) (14/1 -56%) Joyful Kit |
14/1(-56%) | (7) Joyful Kit 14/1, Modest maiden hurdler who has failed to complete last 2 starts.
9th (1) (40/1 +0%) Exmoor Lad |
40/1(+0%) | (1) Exmoor Lad 40/1, Arvico gelding. Only hinted at ability in Chepstow bumper/Taunton novice hurdle.
|PU| (8) (66/1 -65%) Miss Curiosity |
66/1(-65%) | (8) Miss Curiosity 66/1, Modest form at best in bumpers/maiden hurdles. Well held on handicap bow at Chepstow in October. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having offered encouragement in his first three starts over hurdles, bumper winner ODIN'S QUEST appeared to run too badly to be true when pulled up at Huntingdon. Given the stunning subsequent form of the Gary Moore yard, he's probably worth another chance in a race which might not take too much winning. Alternatives include Hobb's Delight who, despite being stoutly-bred, showed up well in a Worcester bumper first time out and Milton Harris' hurdling newcomer Definite, who scored on the Flat for Ralph Beckett last summer.
A weak maiden so bumper-winner ODIN'S QUEST is worth another chance to confirm hurdles debut promise with his yard in red-hot form. Definite took a step back in the right direction on the Flat 6 weeks ago and can go close if taking to this sphere at the first attempt, so is feared most ahead of Jack Sprat, who stepped up on his hurdles bow when third at Huntingdon.
The Flat-race speed of DEFINITE means he should have a big part to play if he doesn't turn his nose up at hurdling.

1st (2) (7.5/1 -36%) Duc De Beauchene |
7.5/1(-36%) | (2) Duc De Beauchene 7.5/1, Scored over fences at Newbury (22.5f) last spring. Not so good this season but his reduced mark reflects that and he's been placed the last 3 starts (C&D second occasion). Thereabouts.
2nd (8) (7.5/1 +38%) I'm A Starman |
7.5/1(+38%) | (8) I'm A Starman 7.5/1, Dual hurdles winner who bettered his previous chase efforts by some way when third of 12 in first-time blinkers at Carlisle (2½m) but ran poorly in same headgear at Kempton since. Tongue strap on 1st time.
3rd (3) (8.5/1 +15%) Faustinovick |
8.5/1(+15%) | (3) Faustinovick 8.5/1, Finally got the job done when opening his account on return at Chepstow (3m, good to soft) in November. Creditable efforts in defeat last 3 starts but others here look better treated. Different headgear.
4th (6) (8.5/1 +29%) Premiumaccess |
8.5/1(+29%) | (6) Premiumaccess 8.5/1, Doesn't win often and produced a dismal display at Taunton last time. Others preferred.
5th (1) (7/1 -17%) Jaytee |
7/1(-17%) | (1) Jaytee 7/1, Won 23f Taunton handicap chase in the mud over a year ago and some good runs since, shaping as if the extreme distance stretched him at Warwick latest. Shorter trip here will suit and considered in first-time headgear.
6th (7) (10/1 +0%) Paseo |
10/1(+0%) | (7) Paseo 10/1, Back with a bang when making all on return at Ludlow (23.8f, soft) in November but well held 2 of next 3 starts. Others preferred.
7th (11) (22/1 +67%) Celma Des Bois |

|PU| (4) (3.33/1 -11%) Wick Green |
3.33/1(-11%) | (4) Wick Green 3.33/1, Back to best since joining this yard, winning 8-runner handicap chase at Ffos Las before good second at Taunton. Should go well again.
|PU| (10) (6/1 +25%) O'faolains Lad |
6/1(+25%) | (10) O'faolains Lad 6/1, Only raced 6 times under Rules, winning back-to-back handicap chases (at up to 26f) in autumn of 2021. Got no further than the third on first run since at Taunton on Thursday so no surprise to see him turned out quickly. Remains open to improvement as a chaser.
|PU| (9) (14/1 -17%) Minella Voucher |
14/1(-17%) | (9) Minella Voucher 14/1, Veteran who completed a hat-trick in September and back on track when third over C&D 2 months ago. Frame claims.
|PU| (5) (25/1 -56%) Longshanks |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Longshanks 25/1, Off the mark over fences in handicap at Exeter in March of last year but not gone on from that, including back over hurdles of late. Blinkered for 1st time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Despite their advancing years, Duc De Beauchene and Wick Green remain a pair of doughty campaigners and both are capable of again getting into the argument here after recent second-place finishes. For all that, it may pay to give another chance to O'FAOLAINS LAD, who bagged successive wins in the autumn of 2021, including over C&D, before unshipping Gavin Sheehan early on his comeback at Taunton on Thursday.
WICK GREEN has bounced back to his best since joining Ben Pauling and looks the solid option with most arriving with something to prove. O'Faolains Lad got no further than the third in his belated comeback at Taunton on Thursday so is worth another chance to see what he can do, while Duc de Beauchene should be on the premises again.
Preference is for WICK GREEN who made a winning debut for his new yard at Ffos Las and ran well in defeat next time.

1st (7) (2.25/1 +25%) Flash Gorcombe |
2.25/1(+25%) | (7) Flash Gorcombe 2.25/1, Confirmed the promise of his chase debut at the second attempt when winning 6-runner Taunton handicap (2m, heavy) 17 days ago. That was a weak race but this one may not be much stronger.
2nd (2) (7/1 -133%) Dime Store Cowgirl |
7/1(-133%) | (2) Dime Store Cowgirl 7/1, Built on earlier promise when making a winning handicap hurdle debut at Catterick (2m) in January. Mixed record since but she's less exposed than the rest of these now switching to fences (point winner). Player.
3rd (6) (1.88/1 +58%) Urabamba |
1.88/1(+58%) | (6) Urabamba 1.88/1, Winner of 2m Wexford maiden hurdle for Henry de Bromhead in summer 2021. Only modest form since joining this yard but his latest Taunton handicap chase third shows he's down to a mark he can be competitive from. Has first-time cheekpieces added to his regular tongue tie.
4th (3) (10/1 +0%) En Coeur |
10/1(+0%) | (3) En Coeur 10/1, Landed another Plumpton win in January but has found life tougher since, running poorly when a remote last of 4 back at Plumpton last month. Bounce back needed.
5th (4) (11/1 +45%) Robin Des Mana |
11/1(+45%) | (4) Robin Des Mana 11/1, Caused a 40/1 surprise when scoring over fences at Worcester (2m) in July 2021. More miss than hit in his 4 outings since but last month's Southwell fourth wasn't too bad and he's starting to look well handicapped.
6th (5) (8.5/1 +29%) Forget You Not |
8.5/1(+29%) | (5) Forget You Not 8.5/1, Course winner who got back on scoreboard in 7-runner handicap chase at Exeter (19f, good) in October. Not so good here next time and folded tamely when pulled up back hurdling at Exeter last time.
7th (1) (11/1 -175%) Obey The Rules |
11/1(-175%) | (1) Obey The Rules 11/1, Gained fourth success over fences (in refitted with cheekpieces) at Leicester (2m, good) in December. Consistent sort who should give a good account if ready to roll after 136 days off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Flash Gorcombe got off the mark at Taunton but it looked a weak race, and last-start Leicester scorer OBEY THE RULES might prove a safer proposition given the better accuracy of his jumping. Donald McCain's charge looks to have further wins in him at this sort of level, though En Coeur would be a danger if returning to the form he showed when hacking up at Plumpton in January.
DIME STORE COWGIRL might have simply been in too deep at Class 2 level last time and this former point winner is taken to bounce straight back now switching to fences. Obey The Rules is largely reliable and may provide the chief threat ahead of recent Taunton scorer Flash Gorcombe.
Obey The Rules has a solid chance but FLASH GORCOMBE looked to have some potential at this level when winning at Taunton.

1st (3) (2/1 -45%) Meatloaf |
2/1(-45%) | (3) Meatloaf 2/1, Made winning start over C&D in December and improved on that form when ½-length second of 14 in listed contest at Cheltenham (14f, good to soft, 3/1). Latest run at Newbury was disappointing but he sets a good standard.
2nd (1) (8.5/1 -89%) Classic King |
8.5/1(-89%) | (1) Classic King 8.5/1, Shaped well when third at Hereford on debut and not disgraced at Kempton since. Has had a break and remains with potential.
3rd (5) (2.25/1 +50%) The Two Harrys |
2.25/1(+50%) | (5) The Two Harrys 2.25/1, €75,000 3-y-o, Flemensfirth gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 2¼m) Publican. Highly respected on debut.

2.25/1(+32%) | (4) Coastal Rock 2.25/1, €85,000 3-y-o, Coastal Path gelding. Half-brother to 4 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Naturelle. Dam 8.2f winner. Cost plenty and yard having another good run with bumper performers.
5th (2) (22/1 +12%) Mad Mike |
22/1(+12%) | (2) Mad Mike 22/1, £16,000 3-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler/smart chaser Us And Them, stays 2¾m and modest hurdler Veshenskaya, stays 3¼m.
6th (6) (33/1 -65%) Pearl Beauty |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Pearl Beauty 33/1, Pearl Secret filly. Dam, maiden on Flat, no show in 2 starts over hurdles. Worth a market check first time out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MEATLOAF is the only previous winner in this field after making a successful debut over C&D in December and although beaten twice since, they have come in Listed company and he has acquitted himself well on both occasions. He is the clear form choice and with Olive Nicholls claiming 7lb from the saddle, he is hard to oppose. Newcomer Coastal Rock cost 85,000 euros and could be dangerous, while Classic King has the experience and is another to consider.
MEATLOAF was a bit underwhelming at Newbury last time but he's good enough to defy a penalty and now returns to the scene of his debut win, so he's preferred to newcomers Coastal Rock and The Two Harrys, who both make plenty of appeal on paper.
It could pay to take a chance on THE TWO HARRYS, with Meatloaf the second choice.

4th (5) (5.5/1 +50%) Selkirk Grace |
5.5/1(+50%) | (5) Selkirk Grace 5.5/1, Cityscape filly. Sister to 7f-1¼m winner Escape The City and half-sister to 2 winners. Dam 1½m-1¾m winner. In contrast to her pedigree, she shaped like a stayer at Ludlow in January. Tongue tie on.
5th (2) (18/1 +10%) Kicks And Ale |
18/1(+10%) | (2) Kicks And Ale 18/1, 23,000 gns 4-y-o, Pour Moi gelding. Half-brother to useful chaser Enjoy Responsibly, stayed 3m, and fair 2m hurdle winner Wilde Sapphire. Dam lightly-raced 2¾m chase winner. Successful on second of 2 starts in Irish points, though that was back in May 2021. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Kicks And Ale did win a three-mile point-to-point in Ireland by a couple of lengths in May 2021, but he hasn't been seen since and may not have the pace to cope with the reduced distance here. It should pay to concentrate on the unraced Kintail, who represents Nicky Henderson, and SOIR DE GALA. Paul Nicholls' son of Joshua Tree looks to have a bit more speed in his pedigree and is related to winners over two miles.
A small field but KINTAIL, Soir de Gala and Horaces Pearl are a trio of interesting newcomers representing top stables, preferred in that order without the benefit of market clues.
Nicky Henderson's KINTAIL is bred to win bumpers and gets the nod ahead of Soir De Gala and Horaces Pearl.
Ths is the racecard key.
