1st (15) (6/5 +31%) Cherie D'am |
6/5(+31%) | (15) Cherie D'am 6/5, Great Pretender mare. Beat only other finisher sole start in points and looked a good prospect when drawing clear to land a weakly-contested bumper at Uttoxeter in April. Type to do well over jumps for her top yard. Hard to weigh up after winning two poor races but she's well bred and in a top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (18/1 -29%) Wild Side Of Life |
18/1(-29%) | (12) Wild Side Of Life 18/1, €55,000 3-y-o, £60,000 5-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Dam (c126/h115), 17f-2¾m hurdle/chase winner, half-sister to useful hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stays 3¼m) Young Buck. Easily off mark in Irish points at third attempt in April and needs a market check on Rules debut. Easy winner of his third Irish point and changed hands soon after for £60,000. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (14/1 -56%) Dontyawantme |
14/1(-56%) | (16) Dontyawantme 14/1, Dead-heated in a point and improved to make second bumper start a winning one at Huntingdon in January before posting an excellent third in a listed event at Sandown. Disappointed at Cheltenham on final outing but a step up in trip and a return to softer ground look positives on hurdle/stable debut. Has left Fergal O'Brien but her achievements in bumpers command respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (8/1 +60%) Paddy O'Mahler |
8/1(+60%) | (8) Paddy O'Mahler 8/1, Mahler gelding who shaped like a stayer in bumpers and did so again sent hurdling when fourth in 10-runner C&D novice 17 days ago, finishing with running left. Beaten 22l on his switch to hurdling over C&D but the front two are useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (22/1 -57%) Letthedustsettle |
22/1(-57%) | (7) Letthedustsettle 22/1, €11,000 3-y-o, £32,000 5-y-o, Pour Moi gelding. Dam unraced. Won sole start in points in March so requires a close look in the betting starting out under Rules. Narrow winner of a British point, the form of which is nothing special. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (50/1 -100%) Treaty Boy |
50/1(-100%) | (11) Treaty Boy 50/1, Well Chosen gelding. Dam, lightly raced over jumps, half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 3m) Three Faces West. Placed both starts in Irish points, runner-up latest (Dec 2022). Wears hood. Beaten 14l and 10l in his two Irish points, posting RPRs in the 70s. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (200/1 -300%) Knacker Trapper |
200/1(-300%) | (5) Knacker Trapper 200/1, Modest in bumpers and ran as if in need of the experience sent hurdling when eighth of 10 in a novice at Hexham (16.2f, heavy) 21 days ago. Up in trip. Went off at 100-1 for hurdling debut at Hexham and was out the back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (66/1 -32%) Tune In A Box |
66/1(-32%) | (14) Tune In A Box 66/1, Looks one for low-grade handicaps after this. Beaten 15l+ in all three runs and was tailed off in the latest at Bangor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (11/1 +21%) Le Jeune Bresil |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Le Jeune Bresil 11/1, £36,000 6-y-o, Blue Bresil gelding. Half-brother to modest hurdler Vereina. Dam (c112/h98), 3m chase winner, half-sister to useful chaser (stayed 21f) Nadiya de La Vega. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt in April and Harry Cobden is a positive jockey booking for Rules debut. Irish point winner bought for £36,000; Harry Cobden a positive jockey booking. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (9/1 -13%) Hey Brother |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Hey Brother 9/1, £75,000 buy from the Irish pointing field and offered something to work on when reaching the frame both bumper outings last season. Step up in trip will suit now hurdling. Promise in a point and bumpers; longer trip likely to assist now sent over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (17) (100/1 -52%) Miss Controversia |
100/1(-52%) | (17) Miss Controversia 100/1, Milan mare. Closely related to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Burtons Well. Has shaped like the stayer she's bred to be in a brace of bumpers 6 months apart so longer trip an obvious plus now hurdling. Half-sister to high-class Burton Port; limited promise in bumpers at Southwell and Hexham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) (200/1 -203%) Brasingaman Bella |
200/1(-203%) | (18) Brasingaman Bella 200/1, Hinted at ability in bumpers but has shown little all 3 starts over hurdles. Low-level form in two bumpers and three hurdles; couldn't make a case. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (2) (200/1 -203%) Empty Nest |
200/1(-203%) | (2) Empty Nest 200/1, Maiden Irish pointer who has shown little in a brace of novice hurdles. Tailed off here recently at odds of 200-1 and was well behind Paddy O'Mahler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (13) (25/1 -79%) Patrick's Wells |
25/1(-79%) | (13) Patrick's Wells 25/1, £30,000 4-y-o, Mount Nelson gelding. Half-brother to French 19f chase winner Elitburg. Dam third in French bumper. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Apr 30). The form of his Irish point win is nothing to shout about; bought for £30,000. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (28/1 -12%) Rolling River |
28/1(-12%) | (9) Rolling River 28/1, Fair bumper winner but hasn't got close to that level over hurdles so easily opposed in first-time cheekpieces. Competing off a lowly mark when beaten 15l in a 2m4f handicap at Fakenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (66/1 -230%) Time Theft |
66/1(-230%) | (10) Time Theft 66/1, €6,000 3-y-o, Valirann gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser Light N Strike. Runner-up sole start in points (Apr 2022). Has taken a bit of time to make it to the track but worth a market check nonetheless. Well-held second of four in sole point and that was in the spring of 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (200/1 -203%) Haut Berry |
200/1(-203%) | (3) Haut Berry 200/1, Looks decidedly limited and easily passed over. Has achieved little (including over hurdles) since making the frame on bumper debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A highly encouraging runner-up on his hurdling bow at Uttoxeter last month, BROOK BAY should be well suited by going up in distance as a point-to-point winner and he can get off the mark under Rules. That may be at the main expense of impressive Uttoxeter bumper scorer Cherie D'am, who is a key player on her timber debut. Dontyawantme is of interest on her first start for new connections, while Hey Brother and Wild Side Of Life cannot be ruled out either.
CHERIE D'AM probably didn't beat a great deal in a Uttoxeter bumper on her Rules debut back in April, but she had the others well strung out and appeals as the type to do well over jumps for her top stable. Dontyawantme, a bumper winner for Fergal O'Brien, will be suited by the step up in trip on this switch to hurdling, while Wild Side of Life requires a close look in the betting having opened his account in points in easy fashion in April.

1st (1) (9/2 +55%) The Edgar Wallace |
9/2(+55%) | (1) The Edgar Wallace 9/2, Fairly useful winning hurdler/chaser but he wasn't seen out after coming in only eighth of 11 in handicap chase at Kempton (20.5f, good to soft) in Februrary. Tongue strap goes back on for his return with more needed. Below best last season but returns on reduced mark and having had wind op; goes well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (6/1 +63%) William Cody |
6/1(+63%) | (11) William Cody 6/1, Already a much better chaser than hurdler, gaining his second win over 20f at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Would have finished a clear second but for falling 2 out at Ascot on his final start. Shortlisted on his return. Progressive when switched to fences last season & this 6yo could improve further this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (17/2 +6%) Happy And Fine |
17/2(+6%) | (3) Happy And Fine 17/2, Cheekpieces seemingly the making of him to end 2022, landing a brace of handicap hurdles at up to 20.6f. Has won when fresh so he's much respected going chasing on his return. Two handicap hurdle wins last term and this 6yo is open to improvement now tackling fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (12/1 -60%) Ladronne |
12/1(-60%) | (8) Ladronne 12/1, Took this contest 12 months ago and his form figures over fences at this course read 13124. H'es very much one to consider after a break off a competitive mark on the back of a wind op. First start since May but won this last year and is suited by this track; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (12/1 +0%) Gallic Geordie |
12/1(+0%) | (7) Gallic Geordie 12/1, Reliable chaser who signed off last season in excellent form, scoring at Wetherby and runner-up in 2m Newcastle handicap. Goes well fresh so he's firmly in the picture on his reappearance. C&D win in March; goes well fresh and he's firmly in calculations on this reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (33/1 +0%) Duo D'enfer |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Duo D'enfer 33/1, A fairly usful winning handicap chaser in 2022/23 in France. Claimed for €13,001 in April and he can't be discounted on his yard debut/reappearance. Four-time French winner who could be on a lenient mark for this British debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 +21%) Thor De Cerisy |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Thor De Cerisy 11/1, Ended a long losing run in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las in January but below form on both of his starts over fences since, making mistakes when well held at Newcastle in March. Cheekpieces back on as he makes first run for yard after leaving Michael Scudamore. Showed promise on chase debut last November but not on his next two starts over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (9/2 +36%) Mount Tempest |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Mount Tempest 9/2, Promising winning hurdler who shaped well on his chase debut after six months off/breathing suregery when second of 3 in handicap chase at Newton Abbot (16.3f, soft) 33 days ago. Can take a step forward. No match for the winner on chase debut but still showed promise and is open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (12) (11/1 +8%) Heaven Smart |
11/1(+8%) | (12) Heaven Smart 11/1, Low-mileage hurdler who was pulled up in 3m Plumpton handicap in April. Still needs considering now going over fences for his good yard though. On a competitive mark on best hurdle form & this former pointer could improve now chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (15/2 -15%) Eaton Collina |
15/2(-15%) | (5) Eaton Collina 15/2, Ended last spring in fine form over fences, winning back-to-back handicaps at Chepstow and Ascot before runner-up at Ffos Las (21f, good to soft). Remains handily weighted so he's a player on his return. Things clicked early this year; can make a bold bid if at the top of his game on comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (16/1 -33%) The Paddy Pie |
16/1(-33%) | (13) The Paddy Pie 16/1, C&D winner who hinted at a revival when fourth of 6 in handicap chase at Warwick (20f, good) 30 days ago. Not ruled out off a falling mark. Step back in right direction last month and this C&D winner may be able to build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (28/1 -75%) Trac |
28/1(-75%) | (14) Trac 28/1, Enjoyed an excellent season over fences last term, scoring three times, including over C&D. Off 7 months but he's one to consider. Did very well last season in first British chase campaign and he retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 -106%) Fricotin |
33/1(-106%) | (9) Fricotin 33/1, A fairly useful hurdles/chase winner for Francois Nicolle in 2022. Wears tongue tie. Commands respect off a handy-looking mark starting out for new connections. Ex-French 4yo who benefits from 9lb age allowance on British debut; market check advised. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A progressive sort towards the end of last season, with two victories in his last three, EATON COLLINA has run well fresh before and this looks like a good opportunity on his return. C&D winner Gallic Geordie arrives with solid claims, while Cruz Control is a key player if coming here instead of his preferred engagement at Ascot. Last year's winner Ladronne is another to note, despite a 6lb higher mark this time around.
Plenty are in with a shout. EATON COLLINA made a bright start to life over fences last term and returns on a still lenient-looking mark so he can rifle in another success at the chief expense of ex-French winner Fricotin, who could have more to offer now starting out for new connections. Gallic Geordie, Mount Tempest and Cruz Control also have much to recommend them and need factoring into this competitive handicap chase.

1st (1) (2/1 +33%) You Wear It Well |
2/1(+33%) | (1) You Wear It Well 2/1, Bumper winner who won 4 of her first 5 starts over hurdles, the highlight being the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham. That big effort may have taken the edge off her given she was brushed aside at Aintree but she's a big player on her return to action back at 2m. Fine novice campaign including win at Cheltenham Festival; loves the mud; major contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/8 +27%) Luccia |
11/8(+27%) | (2) Luccia 11/8, Looked an excellent prospect in bumpers and made it 2-2 over hurdles in impressive fashion in 6-runner listed event at Exeter (16.7f). Probably a little too keen for her own good when only fourth to You Wear It Well in the Dawn Run at Cheltenham and similar form against the males ar Aintree. Made frame in top novices at Cheltenham and Aintree in the spring; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/4 -10%) Kateira |
11/4(-10%) | (4) Kateira 11/4, Fairly useful in bumpers and improved a chunk in all 4 hurdles outings last term, completing the hat-trick with the minimum of fuss at Market Rasen before running a cracker when second in the Grade 1 Mersey over 20f in April. Back at 2m for return and just about the one to beat on these terms. Improved with every run over hurdles last season, second at Aintree final start; big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (50/1 +0%) Game On For Glory |
50/1(+0%) | (3) Game On For Glory 50/1, Bumper winner who made a successful start over hurdles at Lingfield prior to excellent second to Rainyday Woman in Taunton listed event. Laboured display at former track when last seen in January 2021 and this a very stiff return to action. Consistent when last seen in 2021-22 but faces stiff task at these weights after a layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (11/1 -57%) Stainsby Girl |
11/1(-57%) | (7) Stainsby Girl 11/1, Excellent start for this yard last season, winning 3 handicaps at up to 18.9f. Very capable fresh so shouldn't be underestimated despite this being a rise in class. Doughty 9yo with excellent strike-rate; up in grade but has optimum conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (125/1 -89%) Lone Star |
125/1(-89%) | (5) Lone Star 125/1, Had a productive 2022-23 season, scoring 5 times (at up to 23.7f) and ending campaign with respectable sixth of 17 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at Cheltenham (20.2f, good) in April. Likely needed the run on reappearance over C&D but that was a handicap and she's not up to this grade. Only sixth of seven in handicap on return and faces an uphill task in this higher grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
A high-class Listed affair in which slight preference is for KATEIRA, who ended last season with an excellent second in the Mersey Novices' Hurdle. Dan Skelton's progressive mare could be well suited by dropping back in trip, but it's the fact she is proven over further that may see her outstay the classy Luccia, who also made the frame in an Aintree Grade 1 when last seen. A taking winner of the Mares Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham, with Luccia back in fourth, You Wear It Well is a key player, but must give weight all round.
An open renewal despite the field size. LUCCIA didn't quite live up to expectations at the spring Festivals but, as a 5-y-o, time is very much on her side. She's fancied to hit the ground running and reverse Dawn Run form with You Wear It Well, with the Dan Skelton trained mare Kateira feared most in receipt of weight from that pair.
Kateira and Luccia are feared but preference is for YOU WEAR IT WELL, so impressive at the Cheltenham Festival in the spring.

1st (2) (15/2 -50%) Botox Has |
15/2(-50%) | (2) Botox Has 15/2, Took his form up a notch last season, landing valuable big-field 3m Haydock handicap hurdle under this rider. Good record fresh and 3m on heavy ground is right up his street. Could go well. Didn't shine in Grade 2s in January but in the picture on best form and he goes well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 +36%) Red Risk |
9/1(+36%) | (5) Red Risk 9/1, Very useful chaser who won twice back hurdling in 2022 and also went close in the Lanzarote in January. Has gone well fresh and in the mud but has stamina for 3m to prove. Vulnerable form-wise but goes well fresh at this time of year, which could count for a lot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/4 +22%) Dashel Drasher |
7/4(+22%) | (3) Dashel Drasher 7/4, Tough and likeable sort who resumed with victory at Aintree last season and ran stormers in second in the Relkeel, Cleeve and Stayers' Hurdles at Cheltenham subsequently. Conditions fine, has gone well first time up, and he's the one to beat on form here. Runner-up in the Stayers' Hurdle in March; leading claims if close to his best on comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (7/4 +0%) Thyme Hill |
7/4(+0%) | (6) Thyme Hill 7/4, Dual Grade 1 winning hurdler who scored twice over fences last term, including in the Grade 1 Kauto Star at Kempton on Boxing Day. Runner-up in the 2022 Stayers' Hurdle and returns with yard in fine form. Good record fresh and bold bid on the cards. Dual Grade 1 hurdle winner; reappearance record provides hope he'll be close to his peak. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (14/1 +0%) Ambitious Fellow |
14/1(+0%) | (1) Ambitious Fellow 14/1, Found some improvement to get off the mark for the season in listed handicap hurdle at the Galway Festival 3 months ago. Lot more needed up in grade but he's going the right way. Won Galway handicap in August; something to find today but he has an improving profile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -50%) Ga Law |
12/1(-50%) | (4) Ga Law 12/1, Winning hurdler who has raced solely over fences in this country, taking last season's Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Little impact in Grade 1s in the spring and tricky to weigh up on a rare go in this sphere on his return, while he also has to prove his stamina for 3m. 5th in Grade 1 Ryanair Chase in March; possible player if transferring form to this sphere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
THYME HILL had a mixed campaign over fences last season but still managed to make his mark at Grade 1 level at Kempton on Boxing Day. The nine-year-old is a proven high-class performer over hurdles and he could be hard to beat on his return to action here. Dashel Drasher only found one too good in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham in March and is an obvious threat to the selection, while Ga Law is next best.
DASHEL DRASHER can make a successful return. He was nailed only late in the Stayers' Hurdle in March and his good record fresh suggests he'll be ready to roll. Thyme Hill, a former Stayers' Hurdle runner-up himself, boasts a similar profile and looks the danger first time back for an in-form stable.
Dual Grade 1 hurdle winner THYME HILL (nap) added a Grade 1 novice chase last December and has a generally solid reappearance record.

1st (4) (7/2 +13%) Gentlemansgame |
7/2(+13%) | (4) Gentlemansgame 7/2, Lowered the colours of subsequent Irish Grand National winner I Am Maximus at Fairyhouse on his chasing debut last winter and shaped well after 9 months off when runner-up to Easy Game in PWC Champion Chase at Gowran (20f, heavy) 5 weeks ago. Interesting contender with race fitness on his side.
2nd (2) (10/11 -25%) Bravemansgame |
10/11(-25%) | (2) Bravemansgame 10/11, Commanding winner of this corresponding event and the King George last year. Lost no caste in defeat when bumping into Galopin Des Champs in Cheltenham Gold Cup next time and that effort presumably left a mark when only third in Punchestown Gold Cup. Looks set for another fruitful campaign.
3rd (3) (10/1 +29%) Midnight River |
10/1(+29%) | (3) Midnight River 10/1, Useful novice hurdler who gained third chase success gamely at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Failed to meet expectations in Magners Plate at the Festival next time but took his form up another notch when scoring at Aintree 6 months ago. Has gone well fresh but more needed at this level.
|PU| (1) (3/1 +25%) Ahoy Senor |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Ahoy Senor 3/1, Landed the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham in January before falling in the Gold Cup next time. Enhanced his fine record at Grand National Festival when runner-up in the Aintree Bowl 6 months ago and while he's prone to the odd error, this front runner looks a major player on reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
BRAVEMANSGAME won this race before an impressive victory in the King George last season and there is every chance he will repeat that success here. Paul Nicholls' eight-year-old was second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup later in the campaign and he sets a very high standard. When at his best, Ahoy Senor is capable of giving the selection plenty to think about and should not be discounted. Midnight River and Gentlemansgame are talented performers but they have plenty to find according to official ratings.
An intriguing renewal despite the small field with BRAVEMANSGAME and Ahoy Senor locking horns for a sixth time over the larger obstacles. Preference is for the former, who gave his yard a fifth success in this contest 12 months ago and Paul Nicholls' 8-y-o is strongly fancied to repeat the feat. Gentlemansgame has race fitness on his side and could profit should either of the top pair fluff their lines.
Last season's King George winner BRAVEMANSGAME made a winning reappearance in this race 12 months ago and is again the one to beat.

Foster'sisland |
(2) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (2) Foster'sisland 12/1, Likeable type who found a bit more improvement to land a Bangor handicap when last seen 7 months ago. Might strip fitter for this return, however. In excellent form when last seen in March and subsequent 5lb rise does not look excessive. |

1st (7) (4/1 +27%) Windtothelightning |
4/1(+27%) | (7) Windtothelightning 4/1, £35,000 purchase out of the pointing field who has made a bright start over hurdles, completing a hat-trick (straightforward task) in novice at Ayr in March. Good third in a competitive event at Cheltenham 6 months ago and still looks ahead of her mark on return. 3-5 during first season over hurdles; good third in series final in the spring; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (12/1 -50%) Haafapiece |
12/1(-50%) | (6) Haafapiece 12/1, Not at best when last seen but reliable in the main and goes well at this track, so not a forlorn hope back from 7 months off. Dual C&D winner; not the force of old but makes seasonal debut from a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/1 -20%) Albert's Back |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Albert's Back 6/1, 4-time course winner. Latest win in hurdle here in March. Below form sixth of 20 in handicap hurdle (40/1) at Aintree (16.5f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Claims if he's tuned up, so worthy of a market check. Four-time course winner; suited by slow ground but may find others better handicapped. |

4th (5) (100/1 -150%) Informateur |
100/1(-150%) | (5) Informateur 100/1, Good effort over fences when last seen but that was 20 months ago, so he's liable to be using this as a prep' run. Close second over fences in February 2022 but not seen since; probably best watched. |

5th (3) (11/2 +31%) Rafferty's Return |
11/2(+31%) | (3) Rafferty's Return 11/2, Scored over C&D on Boxing Day last year and shaped well on occasions subsequently, going off too hard at Perth last time. One to consider. Dual course winner; not at his best when last seen in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (11/2 -38%) Alvaniy |
11/2(-38%) | (4) Alvaniy 11/2, Placed on both starts in bumpers for Paul Gammell and built on his hurdling debut promise when readily off the mark in 15-runner maiden at Galway in September. Disappointing next time but remains with potential. Beaten at short odds last time but won Galway maiden two starts ago and remains unexposed. |

7th (11) (14/1 -27%) Grasse D'Oliverie |
14/1(-27%) | (11) Grasse D'Oliverie 14/1, Bounced back to capitalise on a handy mark at Market Rasen 6 months ago and not handicapped out of things if she's tuned up on return. Off the mark in Britain with clearcut success in April; moves up from Class 5 today. |

|PU| (8) (3/1 +45%) Decorated |
3/1(+45%) | (8) Decorated 3/1, Bumper winner who progressed well over hurdles last term, making all (over 19f) in Sedgefield novice and Taunton handicap (tongue tied). This longer trip should suit too so he rates a big player on his seasonal return on the back of a wind op. Made all on handicap debut at Taunton in March and has scope for further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (9/1 +44%) Tiger Jet |
9/1(+44%) | (9) Tiger Jet 9/1, Career best when winning 15-runner 3m Haydock handicap in April but he's appeared to be in the grip of the handicapper since and might need this first run in 5 months. Collected a good prize at Haydock (3m) in April but two lesser runs followed in May. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Windtothelightning enjoyed a profitable campaign last term, culminating in a good third at Cheltenham in April. She is likely to offer another bold bid, but raised 3lb in the ratings, she could be vulnerable to a better-treated rival such as ALVANIY. A rare runner for Willie Mullins at Wetherby, and off this opening handicap mark of 126, he will be difficult to hold out. Albert's Back is also worthy of respect.
WINDTOTHELIGHTNING was progressive last season and ran with credit when last seen at Cheltenham. That form has a solid look to it and she's worth chancing to make a successful return for all that Decorated looks open to further improvement. Alvaniy is also worthy of consideration.
Preference is for DECORATED, who returned from a break to make a winning handicap debut on heavy ground in March and can improve again.

1st (7) (15/2 -88%) Not Sure |
15/2(-88%) | (7) Not Sure 15/2, Found improvement when off the mark in this sphere in first-time blinkers at Hereford (21f) in January and landed chase win number 2 at Uttoxeter (2½m, soft) in March. Respectable third over C&D final start though this trip possibly just stretched him. Off 7 months. Progressive in blinkers last term; could have more to offer but goes in cheekpieces today. |

2nd (1) (16/1 -100%) Bali Body |
16/1(-100%) | (1) Bali Body 16/1, Displayed progressive form over hurdles and built on chase bow/return when scoring at Sandown in December 2021. Not seen since, however. Returns from long absence but won off this mark when last seen; market could guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (10/3 -11%) Snowy Evening |
10/3(-11%) | (8) Snowy Evening 10/3, Runner-up in sole bumper. Showed initial promise over hurdles but pulled up in 2 handicaps in the spring. However, had always looked likely to make a better chaser than hurdler and wasted no time proving so when runner-up at Chepstow on return 3 weeks ago. Entitled to progress and can go one better. Second on chase debut despite making mistakes and has obvious scope for improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (7/1 +30%) Camp Belan |
7/1(+30%) | (9) Camp Belan 7/1, Thorough stayer who got off the mark at Kelso a year ago. Proved inconsistent subsequently, though shaped as if needing return. Inconsistent & well beaten on return but may have needed it; not ruled out off handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (6/1 +14%) Some Scope |
6/1(+14%) | (5) Some Scope 6/1, Irish point winner who showed ability in a trio of maiden hurdles before readily accounting for 9 rivals on handicap debut upped to 24.3f at Haydock (good to firm). Might have found next run coming too soon and type to make better chaser (worth market check on return). Tongue strap on for 1st time. Very lightly raced point and handicap hurdle winner who could relish the switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (18/1 -29%) Conquredalofeurope |
18/1(-29%) | (6) Conquredalofeurope 18/1, Fairly useful chaser who shaped well on first 3 outings for current stable but failed to complete last 2 starts, so bit to prove on return. Below par on final two runs last season but a break may have helped; on a competitive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (7/2 +50%) Ernest Gray |
7/2(+50%) | (4) Ernest Gray 7/2, Useful dual bumper winner who appeared to improve for the step up to 24.4f/switch to handicap company when landing a 4-runner contest at Doncaster (24.4f) in March. Back on track when third at Huntingdon (25f, good to soft, 9/2) final start. Off 6 months. Makes chase debut. Improvement needed on chase debut but his smart dam was a better chaser than hurdler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (18/1 +10%) Rath An Iuir |
18/1(+10%) | (2) Rath An Iuir 18/1, Useful chaser at his best who capitalised on a much-reduced mark to land 3¼m Kelso handicap in December. Not in same form since, however, so bit to prove on return. Patchy campaign last season but he's just 1lb higher than when winning last December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (11) (13/2 +41%) O'connell |
13/2(+41%) | (11) O'connell 13/2, Winning Irish pointer who showed promise on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles last season. Let down by jumping switched to fences at Haydock but much better when third at Hexham on return, albeit looking awkward off the bridle. Stayed on for 3rd over 2m4f at Hexham recently and this longer trip could be a major plus. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Bali Body won comfortably off this mark at Sandown and should he return to the track in similar form, he would be tough to beat. That run was more than 700 days ago, though, whereas SNOWY EVENING ran arguably his best race to date when second on his fencing bow at Chepstow just last month and a 2lb rise in the ratings may not be enough to halt his progression. Not Sure heads the remainder.
SNOWY EVENING made a promising start to his chase career when second at Chepstow on his return 3 weeks ago and can go one place better with progress likely. Some Scope and Ernest Gray are a couple of interesting chasing debutants so are feared most.
Point winner SOME SCOPE is a very lightly raced 5yo who is open to improvement now chasing and earns the vote ahead of O'Connell.
Ths is the racecard key.
