1st (3) (1.62/1 +46%) Gaelic Park |
1.62/1(+46%) | (3) Gaelic Park 1.62/1, Point/bumper winner who showed fairly useful form when runner-up in novice/maiden hurdles in mid-winter. Disappointing in Sandown handicaps the last twice but will be a threat if bouncing back under a 7-lb conditional.
2nd (6) (7.5/1 +38%) Kankin |
7.5/1(+38%) | (6) Kankin 7.5/1, Showed a fair level of ability when runner-up in a brace of bumpers 25 months apart and perhaps paid the price for racing prominently with superior horses on his Bangor hurdling debut. Up in trip. Should do better.
3rd (1) (1.5/1 -65%) Carrarea |
1.5/1(-65%) | (1) Carrarea 1.5/1, Fairly useful dual bumper winner who went very close to opening his hurdles account in 14-runner maiden at Kilbeggan (19f) on his final outing for Emmet Mullins in September. Fitted with a first-time tongue strap and sets the standard.
4th (9) (66/1 -32%) Wonder Of The Seas |
66/1(-32%) | (9) Wonder Of The Seas 66/1, Looks one for the longer term on early evidence.
5th (11) (125/1 -89%) Grumpy Rosie |
125/1(-89%) | (11) Grumpy Rosie 125/1, Didn't achieve a great deal despite finishing second in a bumper at Exeter in January and looked badly in need of the experience starting out over hurdles at Taunton 10 weeks later.
6th (2) (300/1 -200%) Dr Lockdown |
300/1(-200%) | (2) Dr Lockdown 300/1, Maiden pointer who shown nothing all 3 starts under Rules.
|PU| (7) (5/1 +23%) Morning Line |
5/1(+23%) | (7) Morning Line 5/1, Showed ability on his only start in bumpers and shaped as if better for the run when well held on last month's hurdling debut at Lingfield. Capable of better.
|PU| (8) (16/1 +20%) Table Thirty Four |
16/1(+20%) | (8) Table Thirty Four 16/1, Modest in bumpers and was held back by inexperience when fifth of 13 on his Ffos Las hurdling debut (20f). Should improve.
|PU| (5) (40/1 -300%) Intel Des Bruyeres |
40/1(-300%) | (5) Intel Des Bruyeres 40/1, Made some appeal on paper but was badly in need of the experience when well held in a novice hurdle on last month's debut at Bangor. Up in trip.
|PU| (4) (200/1 -100%) Garcon Dargent |
200/1(-100%) | (4) Garcon Dargent 200/1, Successful twice between the flags but has shown nothing in a pair of maiden hurdles under Rules. Significantly up in trip.
|PU| (10) (200/1 -100%) Cassowary |
200/1(-100%) | (10) Cassowary 200/1, Well held in a brace of bumpers/maiden hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Only narrowly denied over 2m3f at Kilbeggan on his latest outing, it is hard to oppose CARRAREA on his stable debut for Mark Walford. He can make his presence felt in a first-time tongue-tie and must enter calculations, although the grade-dropping Gaelic Park should not be taken lightly and may give the selection plenty to think about. Morning Line is another to bear in mind.
CARRAREA sets a clear standard on the form he showed in Ireland for Emmet Mullins, so there's no real urge to oppose him in a maiden lacking depth. Gaelic Park can provide the main threat if bouncing back from a couple of lesser efforts. Morning Line ought to prove capable of better and is the pick of the remainder.
Mark Walford's new recruit CARRAREA showed some useful form when trained in Ireland and is taken to make a winning stable debut.

1st (4) (2.75/1 +8%) Jack Doyen |
2.75/1(+8%) | (4) Jack Doyen 2.75/1, Placed in points/novice hurdles and left with a lot to do under an exaggerated waiting ride when third at Ludlow (23.8f, good to soft) 4 weeks ago. First-time cheekpieces applied and given a major chance by the handicapper, he's one to look out for.
2nd (1) (4/1 +27%) Walk In The Wild |
4/1(+27%) | (1) Walk In The Wild 4/1, Made the perfect start sent chasing for new yard, winning Lingfield handicaps at up to 20f in November. However, he's folded tamely on both subsequent starts 12 weeks apart so that leaves him with a bit to prove suddenly.
3rd (6) (1.88/1 +16%) Boys Of Wexford |
1.88/1(+16%) | (6) Boys Of Wexford 1.88/1, Runner-up sole start in Irish points and has upped his game since switched to chasing, scoring at Uttoxeter before a solid showing when runner-up at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Respectable third at Market Rasen earlier this month and should be in the mix again.
4th (2) (5/1 +9%) Blackcauseway |
5/1(+9%) | (2) Blackcauseway 5/1, Successful sole start between the flags and placed twice from 4 starts in maiden hurdles last term. Pulled up both starts switched to fences this season, though, so percentage call is probably to look elsewhere.
|R| (7) (22/1 +56%) Checkitsme |
22/1(+56%) | (7) Checkitsme 22/1, Won a Leicester claimer for Milton Harris last winter. Placed twice later in that campaign but has offered little in 4 outings this term (in first-time blinkers latest). Had a breathing op since and needs this switch to chasing to spark a revival.
|PU| (5) (8.5/1 +23%) Phil The Sock |
8.5/1(+23%) | (5) Phil The Sock 8.5/1, Well held in bumpers and little solid form over hurdles. Fared no better sent chasing after 10 weeks off earlier this month so has plenty to prove at present. Blinkers/tongue tie go on.
|PU| (9) (125/1 -89%) Dun Bay Creek |
125/1(-89%) | (9) Dun Bay Creek 125/1, Of little account nowadays and again easy enough to look elsewhere operating from out of the weights after 9 months off.
|PU| (8) (125/1 -25%) Nyoufsea |
125/1(-25%) | (8) Nyoufsea 125/1, Poor maiden who came in a remote last of 3 at Leicester last month and pulled up on both starts since. Easy to look elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In not the strongest of contests, marginal preference is for CONCEAL, who is now rated 3lb above his last winning mark which came over this trip at Uttoxeter in October. He was beaten by Boys Of Wexford on his penultimate start but is now 10lb better off with Henry Oliver's charge and can reverse that form here. The consistent Jack Doyen sports first-time cheekpieces following a distant third over 3m at Ludlow earlier this month and could also have a say in proceedings.
JACK DOYEN was unable to land a blow under exaggerated waiting tactics when third at Ludlow 4 weeks ago but, having been dropped 4 lb on the back of that effort and with first-time cheekpieces applied, Ben Case's 7-y-o gets the nod to open his account. Boys of Wexford has made a solid start to chasing so he's fancied to give the selection most to think about, ahead of Conceal.
Henry Oliver's BOYS OF WEXFORD has made a good start to his chasing career this season and has a good chance to double his tally here.

1st (9) (20/1 +50%) Mr Palmtree |
20/1(+50%) | (9) Mr Palmtree 20/1, Dual chase winner in 2020/21 campaign. No impact in 2 hurdles since returning from a 2-year absence, though.
2nd (7) (9/1 +36%) Dark Duomo |
9/1(+36%) | (7) Dark Duomo 9/1, Looks limited on early evidence, faring no better for first-time cheekpieces, a longer trip and a switch to a handicap at Exeter (21.6f) last time. Blinkers now tried over a still longer distance.
3rd (1) (6/1 -80%) Blade Runner |
6/1(-80%) | (1) Blade Runner 6/1, Made it 3 from 4 over fences when landing 4-runner handicap at Plumpton (28.5f, good to soft) in November, staying on well. Has the same mark to work with back over hurdles but needs to prove he's as good in this sphere.
4th (3) (2.5/1 +38%) Glance From Clover |
2.5/1(+38%) | (3) Glance From Clover 2.5/1, Improved in first-time cheekpieces when finally off the mark in 8-runner C&D handicap last week. Has to be respected under a penalty.
5th (6) (7.5/1 +46%) Doireann |
7.5/1(+46%) | (6) Doireann 7.5/1, Runner-up in 2 handicap hurdles at Fakenham this winter but faded out of it at Carlisle and ran no sort of race on chasing debut there last time. Tongue strap back on but has enough to prove at present.
6th (4) (4.5/1 +44%) Cafe Pushkin |
4.5/1(+44%) | (4) Cafe Pushkin 4.5/1, Fair maiden hurdler who hasn't been at his best all 3 outings this term. More needed.
7th (2) (3.33/1 -48%) Stellar Stream |
3.33/1(-48%) | (2) Stellar Stream 3.33/1, Successful pointer who confirmed hurdling debut promise when readily landing 4-runner novice at Hereford (25.5f, good) 43 days ago. Looks to have got in lightly for his handicap debut. Big chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Blade Runner reverts to timber following a series of very respectable performances over fences, including a success over 3m4f on his latest outing at Plumpton last November. He certainly warrants a market check here, but GLANCE FROM CLOVER bolted up over C&D last week and shades the vote. He has to shoulder a 7lb penalty for that success but he must command respect and can be expected to be thereabouts once more. Braganza Bay adds further spice to the mix.
It was a weak race STELLAR STREAM won at Hereford but he had it wrapped up from some way out and looks to have been allotted a potentially lenient opening mark, so the follow up beckons. Glance From Clover merits respect under a penalty for his recent breakthrough win here, while Blade Runner will be dangerous too if transferring his chasing form back to hurdles.
There is no doubting his stamina after BLADE RUNNER's three chase wins and he's also well handicapped on his best chase form.

1st (3) (3/1 +33%) Red Rookie |
3/1(+33%) | (3) Red Rookie 3/1, Off the mark over fences in 2m novice at Hereford last season. Mixed bag since but stepped up on return when 7 lengths third to Third Time Lucki at Sandown a couple of months ago and entitled to come on for that again.
2nd (4) (16/1 -33%) Hasankey |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Hasankey 16/1, Made excellent strides over fences last season, winning 3 on the bounce prior to finishing sixth in Grand Annual at the Festival. Cracking second at Ayr on return in October and back from 2 lesser efforts when third at Wetherby (15.2f, good) 6 weeks ago.
3rd (6) (16/1 -60%) Bun Doran |
16/1(-60%) | (6) Bun Doran 16/1, Likeable veteran who was easily excused his penultimate run at Warwick and came in for good ride to defy career-low mark at Sandown (15.4f) 6 weeks ago. Defied this mark at Doncaster 12 months ago and no forlorn hope.
4th (2) (1.75/1 +7%) Saint Segal |
1.75/1(+7%) | (2) Saint Segal 1.75/1, Has made an encouraging start to his chasing career, winning first 2 starts, and likely to have maintained his unbeaten record in this sphere but for conceding first run to the winner at Doncaster (16.4f, good) a couple of months ago. More to come and considered.
5th (7) (3.33/1 +17%) Grandeur D'Ame |
3.33/1(+17%) | (7) Grandeur D'Ame 3.33/1, Winning hurdler who dug deep to open his account in this sphere at Huntington in January and followed up by a much wider margin at Stratford (17f, soft) earlier this month, jumping straighter going back left-handed. This tougher but heading in the right direction.
6th (1) (5.5/1 +8%) Lac De Constance |
5.5/1(+8%) | (1) Lac De Constance 5.5/1, Unbeaten over hurdles last season and easily made a winning start over fences in a Kempton novice (2¼m) in November. However, he hasn't gone on as expected since (has failed to convince in the jumping department) and hopes now pinned on a first-time tongue tie. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Bun Doran proved that he retains plenty of ability when winning at Sandown last month and Tom George's veteran, a Grade 2 winner at his peak, doesn't look overburdened by a 3lb rise in the handicap. However, he could be vulnerable to some less-exposed rivals and preference is for SAINT SEGAL. Jane Williams' gelding lost little in defeat when going down by half a length at Doncaster in January and he remains open to further progress. Others to note are Lac De Constance and Grandeur D'ame.
Cases can be made for most of these but youngster SAINT SEGAL has made a fine start to his chasing career, winning his first couple of outings and likely to have maintained his unbeaten record but for conceding first run at Doncaster a couple of months ago. With better still to come, he's fancied to regain the winning thread at the expense of the hat-trick-seeking Grandeur d'Ame. Bun Doran can fill out third spot.
Grandeur D'Ame could go very well in his hat-trick bid but he's second choice behind the promising 5yo SAINT SEGAL (nap).

1st (5) (3.33/1 -11%) Lipa K |
3.33/1(-11%) | (5) Lipa K 3.33/1, Bumper winner in Ireland last May. Best run over hurdles for new stable when sixth of 13 in 2m Leicester novice just after Christmas but proved something of a let-down on handicap debut at Market Rasen 51 days ago. Too soon to write off.
2nd (1) (4.5/1 -50%) Ideal Pal |
4.5/1(-50%) | (1) Ideal Pal 4.5/1, Fairly useful hurdler. First run since leaving Michael Mulvany when third of 16 in novice chase at Fairyhouse and was still going well when falling 3 out in similar event at Clonmel since. One to consider back over hurdles.
3rd (2) (1.25/1 +44%) Midnight Ginger |
1.25/1(+44%) | (2) Midnight Ginger 1.25/1, Likeable mare who added to her tally in 2m Newbury handicap on New Year's Eve. Good fifth in Ffos Las handicap since and seems likely to go well in this lesser race.
4th (4) (3.5/1 -40%) Krypton Gold |
3.5/1(-40%) | (4) Krypton Gold 3.5/1, Ended last season with ready win at Ascot in March and has held his form admirably this term, third at Fontwell last time. Merits respect again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MIDNIGHT GINGER is only 2lb higher than when successful at Newbury on New Year's Eve and having managed only fifth over 2m4f at Ffos Las subsequently, a drop in trip and grade could help Andrew Martin's mare regain the winning thread. Lipa K was very disappointing when sent off favourite on his handicap debut, but he retains potential and could take a step forward. The consistent Krypton Gold rates best of the remainder.
MIDNIGHT GINGER added to her tally at Newbury on New Year's Eve and dropping in grade here, Andrew Martin's charge gets the verdict to score again. Lipa K proved a let-down on handicap debut last month, but it's too soon to be writing him off, so he may pose as the main threat, while a case could be made for the remaining duo, also.
Not seen to best effect in a tactical race three weeks ago, KRYPTON GOLD can take this prize if able to replicate his autumn form.

1st (3) (1/1 +50%) Firak |
1/1(+50%) | (3) Firak 1/1, Well held all 3 starts over regulation fences for Dan Skelton but was successful in a maiden hurdle a couple of years ago and registered second success in points recently. One to consider.
2nd (8) (3.33/1 +45%) Zee Man |
3.33/1(+45%) | (8) Zee Man 3.33/1, Error-prone chaser who bettered his hunter debut when third at Southwell earlier this month. However, jumping was again his downfall at Fakenham recently and he's not particularly convincing.
3rd (7) (9/1 +64%) What A Glance |
9/1(+64%) | (7) What A Glance 9/1, Fair hurdler at best but was pulled up on debut in this sphere last month and subsequent effort between the flags hardly inspires confidence.
4th (5) (50/1 -25%) Sending Love |
50/1(-25%) | (5) Sending Love 50/1, Fairly useful hurdler for Paul Nicholls but disappointed in 3 chase starts for that yard last season. Since pulled up in a couple of points and offered little on recent hunter debut at Stratford.
5th (6) (50/1 +38%) Urbanist |
50/1(+38%) | (6) Urbanist 50/1, Hasn't shown much in hunter chases at Wetherby and Ludlow for this yard. Sports a first-time visor here.
|U| (4) (3.5/1 +50%) Gaboriot |
3.5/1(+50%) | (4) Gaboriot 3.5/1, Useful hurdler in France (not quite as good over fences). Shaped with some encouragement on hunter debut at Hereford in January but no show in 2 subsequent starts and now tried in blinkers.
|PU| (2) (18/1 -112%) Ballotin |
18/1(-112%) | (2) Ballotin 18/1, Dual hunter winner for Philip Hobbs back in 2019. Very lightly-raced under Rules since and he was put in his place in a match between the flags when returning from a lengthy absence 12 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ZAMPARELLI was probably in need of the run when pulled up in a Larkhill point-to-point last month and the 11-year-old, a dual winner in this sphere, should fare much better with that run under his belt. Firak struck between the flags 11 days ago and he ought to be more than capable of mounting a stern challenge here, while Gaboriot could sharpen up for the addition of first-time blinkers and shouldn't be underestimated.
This isn't a particularly strong race and FIRAK, who confirmed his well-being with an easy win between the flags 11 days ago, is taken to make a successful debut in this sphere. Zee Man's jumping is certainly no less of a concern following his recent fall at Fakenham and Zamparelli is the clear main danger.
Fred Hutsby's ZEE MAN has a mixed record this season but he gave a very good account of himself when third at Southwell this month.

2nd (1) (7/1 -40%) Monbari |
7/1(-40%) | (1) Monbari 7/1, £36,500 3-y-o, Zanzibari gelding. Dam, 17f-2¼m winner over hurdles in France, half-sister to useful hurdler/top-class chaser (stays 21f) Saint Calvados.
3rd (2) (40/1 -21%) Ede'iffs Rock |
40/1(-21%) | (2) Ede'iffs Rock 40/1, Saddler's Rock mare. Sister to fair hurdler Shutupshirley, and closely related to a winner, and half-sister to 2 winners, including fairly useful chaser Ede'iffs Elton.

3.5/1(+75%) | (8) Viscount Vinyl 3.5/1, €60,000 3-y-o, Jukebox Jury gelding. Dam, lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 3m) Calipto.
7th (6) (3/1 +60%) Solar System |
3/1(+60%) | (6) Solar System 3/1, Pastorius gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 17f hurdle winners Solar Night and Solar Flash. Top owner and worth a look. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Monbari is out of a half-sister to the high-class chaser Saint Calvados, while Viscount Vinyl and Elle Est Beau are expensive purchases that certainly warrant a market inspection. That said, marginal preference is for SOLAR SYSTEM, who is a half-brother to three winners in France and he would be dangerous to let slip under the radar on his racecourse debut.
The betting may help point the way but it's hard to get away from ELLE EST BEAU and Coastal Rock on paper and they are the two against the field before market clues.
The pick is COASTAL ROCK, who is from a fairly good French Flat family and represents a stable with a very good bumper strike-rate.

6.5/1(+68%) | (8) Sinnaraja 6.5/1, £4,000 3-y-o, Cima De Triomphe gelding. Dam ran once on Flat. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This looks the weaker of the two divisions but potentially presents DIAMOND RI with an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. An 82,000-euro purchase, the gelding is respected as he bids to emulate his half-brother Pencilfulloflead by winning a bumper on his racecourse bow. Geezer Rockstar and Pearl Island are others to closely monitor in the betting, with the former offering stronger appeal on his introduction for an in-form yard.
Once again the betting could help sort these out. DIAMOND RI has appealing claims on paper and is preferred over Geezer Rockstar and Tout Sur Moi at this stage.
It might be worth chancing TOUCH OF THUNDER, who has an interesting mix of Flat and jumps winner in his pedigree.
Ths is the racecard key.
