Admiral Nelson |
(1) (4/1 -20%)4/1(-20%) | (1) Admiral Nelson 4/1, 10/1, bit below form eighth of 13 in handicap at Redcar (8f, good to firm) 2 days ago. Still, he would have a real chance in this company if he were to put his best foot forward. Has yet to win over this far and never threatened to put that right at Redcar on Saturday. |

1st (4) (11/2 +21%) Island Of Skye |
11/2(+21%) | (4) Island Of Skye 11/2, 9/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f). Off 170 days ahead of this debut for new yard and cheekpieces back on. Solid chance judged on pick of last season's form. Both wins on the AW but has comparable form on turf; same owners but a new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (25/1 -108%) Doomsday |
25/1(-108%) | (9) Doomsday 25/1, One win from 24 Flat runs. 40/1, respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.1f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Place possibilities. Not a bad run at Musselburgh 11 days ago having endured a wide trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/1 +55%) Chinese Spirit |
9/1(+55%) | (8) Chinese Spirit 9/1, Below form seventh of 13 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, good to firm, 33/1) 12 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. Given a chance by the handicapper but looks vulnerable all the same. Multiple winner but into the veteran stage now and hasn't really got going this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/1 -25%) Ivasecret |
5/1(-25%) | (3) Ivasecret 5/1, 11/1, bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 12 days ago. No worthwhile turf form to his name and it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Five-time AW winner whose turf figures don't read remotely as well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/1 +56%) Create |
11/1(+56%) | (5) Create 11/1, Blinkered for 1st time, eighth of 9 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, good, 28/1) 22 days ago. Hopes pinned on the first-time cheekpieces helping to spark a return to form. Plenty of initial promise so she's been disappointing in handicaps; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/2 +61%) Cloch Nua |
11/2(+61%) | (7) Cloch Nua 11/2, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 50/1, creditable seventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 20 days ago. Not without each-way hope. Twice placed on turf and his latest Wolverhampton run was eyecatching. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (10/3 +58%) Masterpainter |
10/3(+58%) | (6) Masterpainter 10/3, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Tenth of 12 in handicap (14/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 20 days ago. Blinkers back on. Others preferred for win purposes. A well-handicapped C&D winner and the return of blinkers might not be a bad thing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (7/1 -250%) Odd Socks Havana |
7/1(-250%) | (2) Odd Socks Havana 7/1, Latest win at Newcastle in April. Creditable second of 12 in handicap (22/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 20 days ago, running on. Clearly more of a force on synthetics but he has won on turf and has to enter calculations. Best form on the AW but has won on turf and he arrives here in good form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ODD SOCKS HAVANA may still be improving judged on his second-placed finish over the extended 1m at Wolverhampton earlier in the month, when only held by three-quarters of a length despite not getting a clear run when making his late challenge. With a victory on good ground on his CV, the Rebecca Menzies-trained gelding can gain swift compensation as he returns to turf off the same mark as last time. Ivasecret also switches back to grass and is well treated in relation to his all-weather rating, while Island Of Skye is beginning to look feasibly treated again.
ISLAND OF SKYE failed to fire at Southwell when last seen in January but he proved pretty consistent last year and is taken to make a winning start for new connections here. Next on the list is Odd Socks Havana, who has been in good heart of late. Though below par at Redcar on Saturday, Admiral Nelson could also have a part to play if turned out again quickly.
This could be slowly run. ODD SOCKS HAVANA seems tactically versatile and in better form than most.

3/10(+17%) | (4) Fayqa 3/10, Promising type. 11/4, second of 9 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, good) 34 days ago, clear of rest. Has good chance on form with promise of more to come. Beaten a neck at Nottingham last time; winner finished third in the Britannia; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (20/1 -186%) Star Of Kilfrush |
20/1(-186%) | (6) Star Of Kilfrush 20/1, Twice-raced filly. Sixth of 8 in maiden at Newcastle (7.1f, 7/2). Off 108 days. Sixth in both starts on the AW earlier in year; handicaps may offer better opportunities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (22/1 -38%) Celestial Wave |
22/1(-38%) | (2) Celestial Wave 22/1, In good hands but low-key start to the campaign when seventh of 8 in maiden at Beverley (7.4f, soft) on debut 26 days ago. Well held on last month's Beverley debut; improvement needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +0%) Eranthis |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Eranthis 4/1, Good third on debut at Haydock in September but unable to match that twice since, 25/1, seventh of 11 in novice event back there (7f, good) 18 days ago. Hasn't built on a promising debut in two subsequent starts; needs a resurgence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (500/1 -233%) Cherrytreeprincess |
500/1(-233%) | (1) Cherrytreeprincess 500/1, Last both starts. Tailed off in both starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Despite the winner not being all out at the finish, FAYQA's neck second to Native Warrior at Nottingham last month reads very well in the context of this race after the winner finished third in the Britannia at Royal Ascot. Kevin Philippart De Foy's filly could take another step forward and she is preferred to Eranthis, who showed promise on debut but has failed to back that up in two subsequent starts. Star Of Kilfrush could be better after a break.
FAYQA stands out on form having pulled clear of the rest when second at Nottingham last month, the winner that day advertising the form since. Eranthis looks the one for the forecast.
This looks good for FAYQA whose close second at Nottingham last time was boosted by the winner at Royal Ascot on Thursday.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (7) (6/1 +14%) Eternal Sunshine |
6/1(+14%) | (7) Eternal Sunshine 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fourth of 8 in handicap (18/1) at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm) 11 days ago. One to take seriously with step back up in trip sure to suit. Best effort yet in a 5f handicap last time and holds leading claims back up a furlong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (17) (25/1 -150%) Calafrio |
25/1(-150%) | (17) Calafrio 25/1, Modest filly. Fifth of 6 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, good to soft, 11/4) 25 days ago. Claims on her comeback Ripon effort; is one of the likelier candidates drawn low. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (50/1 -1150%) Ustath |
50/1(-1150%) | (1) Ustath 50/1, Modest gelding. C&D winner. Won 8-runner handicap (5/2) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 4 days ago. Rare run on turf and that asks a question. Previous C&D winner and has a fair chance of following up under a 4lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (12/1 +52%) Variety Island |
12/1(+52%) | (16) Variety Island 12/1, Respectable fifth of 11 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good to firm, 9/1) 16 days ago. Can give a good account. Has done most recent racing over 7f and not been as good since a win in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (33/1 +0%) Birdie Bowers |
33/1(+0%) | (4) Birdie Bowers 33/1, Modest gelding. Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. Blinkered for first time, tenth of 11 in handicap (22/1) at Newcastle (5f). Off 6 months so he may just need this. Rarely goes beyond 5f these days and is entitled to need this after six months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (12/1 -140%) Ben Dikduk |
12/1(-140%) | (2) Ben Dikduk 12/1, Down in the weights and easily best effort for this yard when winning 14-runner handicap at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Has to be taken seriously on the back of that. Popped up from nowhere last time; it wouldn't be a shock were he to go in again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (33/1 -136%) Delagate The Lady |
33/1(-136%) | (6) Delagate The Lady 33/1, 14/1, seventh of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW), left poorly placed. Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Robyn Brisland. Has often gone well fresh in the past; is one of the likelier sorts drawn low. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (33/1 -313%) Flavius Titus |
33/1(-313%) | (8) Flavius Titus 33/1, C&D winner. 28/1, respectable third of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 52 days ago. Enters calculations. Habitual slow starter who won a similar race over C&D last August; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (20/1 -186%) Gidwa |
20/1(-186%) | (9) Gidwa 20/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in April. 12/1, respectable third of 11 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, good to soft) 6 days ago. Patchy profile on turf but won't mind the return to sprinting for a yard among the winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (16/1 +0%) Kitbag |
16/1(+0%) | (12) Kitbag 16/1, Bit below form fifth of 14 in handicap at Redcar (6f, soft, 16/1) 27 days ago. Blinkers replace usual visor. Rather struggled since joining from Jack Channon; wins both came on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (14/1 +44%) Bernie The Bear |
14/1(+44%) | (3) Bernie The Bear 14/1, Modest gelding. 12/1, 10½ lengths thirteenth of 14 to Ben Dikduk in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and he needs to bounce back. String of defeats at short prices on the AW this year; stable form could be better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) (80/1 -300%) Just Typical |
80/1(-300%) | (18) Just Typical 80/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 125/1 and hooded for first time, eleventh of 12 in minor event at Nottingham (6.1f, good to firm) 44 days ago. Slowly away and/or inclined to pull hard in three runs to date; watch the market. |

14th (10) (100/1 -525%) Glorious Rio |
100/1(-525%) | (10) Glorious Rio 100/1, Twenty six runs since last win in 2022. Ninth of 11 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good, 6/1) 38 days ago. Hasn't won in almost two years and has suffered plenty of costly defeats in the interim. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (19) (250/1 -658%) Thea Bell |
250/1(-658%) | (19) Thea Bell 250/1, 80/1, last of 10 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Cheekpieces on for first time. Had issues at the start and looked very limited thus far; headgear goes on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (15) (100/1 -400%) See My Baby Jive |
100/1(-400%) | (15) See My Baby Jive 100/1, Modest mare. Ninth of 10 in handicap (28/1) at Carlisle (5.8f, good) 14 days ago, very slowly away. Risky proposition given issues at the stalls. Hasn't been in any form this season, including back in the blinkers latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (11) (28/1 -250%) Irish Dancer |
28/1(-250%) | (11) Irish Dancer 28/1, Last of 7 in handicap at Catterick (5f, soft, 5/2) 32 days ago. Blinkers on and better could be forthcoming on drying ground. Unsuited by soft when well beaten at a short price last time; the return to 6f won't hurt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (13) (200/1 -506%) Metal Beau |
200/1(-506%) | (13) Metal Beau 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 20 days ago. Makes turf debut and others more convincing kept to 6f. Yet to go close to finishing placed; among the lowest rated and doesn't make much appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Ben Dikduk sprang a 33/1 surprise when landing a 6f Hamilton handicap 12 days ago but he needs to prove that was no fluke and the safer option may be USTATH. The eight-year-old confirmed his well-being with a 5f victory at Wolverhampton last week and, with a C&D victory to his name, he can go well back on turf under the in-form Billy Loughnane. Fellow track-and-trip winner Flavius Titus is another to consider.
Quantity over quality here with a chance taken on ETERNAL SUNSHINE back up in trip with a high draw usually no bad thing over 6f. Ben Dikduk and Ustath can call upon recent winning form so have more going for them than most.
A sister to four winners for the yard who did better last time, ETERNAL SUNSHINE is preferred to Irish Dancer.

40/1(-100%) | (12) Sixcor 40/1, Last of 8 in handicap at Musselburgh (5f, good to firm, 5/1) 11 days ago, though not given a hard time once chance had gone. In good form until last at Musselburgh 11 days ago; he's the sort to bounce back though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (40/1 -567%) Sir Benedict |
40/1(-567%) | (6) Sir Benedict 40/1, Three wins from 12 runs this year. 8/1, won 11-runner handicap at Nottingham (5f, good) 11 days ago. 2 lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid. Bagged a third win of the season in 5f Nottingham handicap 11 days ago; can go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (12/1 +40%) Latin Five |
12/1(+40%) | (3) Latin Five 12/1, Latest win at Newcastle in March. 9/1, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, good) 22 days ago. Represents yard among the winners. In good nick, fifth at Nottingham 22 days ago; ought to be in shake-up off an easing mark. |

13th (1) (100/1 -525%) Whiskey Priest |
100/1(-525%) | (1) Whiskey Priest 100/1, 15/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Musselburgh (5f, good to soft), doing better under change of tactics. Off 9 months so he may just need this. Landed 5f Musselburgh handicap in September; enter calculations despite his absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Jack Of Clubs bounced back to occupy the runner-up spot in this grade at Musselburgh earlier in the month and he holds an obvious chance off an unchanged rating. However, preference is for GOLDEN RAINBOW, who struck over this track and trip on his penultimate start before finishing third at Musselburgh, and he looks well placed to make it two wins out of his last three starts. Rainbow Rain and Latin Five are two others to consider.
Quite a few to consider here with JACK OF CLUBS given the nod on the back of an excellent second at Musselburgh with a double-figure draw in his favour. Rainbow Rain has been knocking on the door and seems sure to give it a good go, with Cuban Rock also of interest from his lowly mark.
Preference is for Tracy Waggott's course scorer RAINBOW RAIN who signalled he is ready to strike when a good Carlisle third last time

100/1(-1011%) | (11) Miss Willows 100/1, Failed to build on promise of reappearance run when 7 lengths last of 12 to Without Delay in handicap at Catterick (7f, good to firm, 7/2) 16 days ago. Cheekpieces now reached for. Beaten a head on her reappearance at Catterick; last of 12 last time. |

9th (4) (100/1 -614%) Mutanaaseq |
100/1(-614%) | (4) Mutanaaseq 100/1, Course winner. Had excuses on his penultimate outing, but below form when 5¾ lengths eleventh of 12 to Without Delay in handicap (17/2) at Catterick (7f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Now 3 lb below his last winning mark. Not at his best at present and one to keep an eye on when he returns to Catterick. |

10th (8) (100/1 -900%) Rusheen Boy |
100/1(-900%) | (8) Rusheen Boy 100/1, Ended last year with 2 wins at Southwell in December. After 3 months off, possibly needed the run when fifth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f, 12/1) 47 days ago. Not discounted having his first try at 7f. Won twice at Southwell in January over 6f; may have more to offer on turf over 7f. |

11th (5) (33/1 -136%) Agnes Grey |
33/1(-136%) | (5) Agnes Grey 33/1, Has been struggling for form this year, eighth of 9 in handicap (6/1) at Wetherby (7f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago. Falling in the weights but others preferred at present. Still a maiden and below par in three races this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (80/1 -567%) First Dynasty |
80/1(-567%) | (6) First Dynasty 80/1, Produced his best effort of the season when fifth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, good to soft, 10/1) 24 days ago. Lurks on a dangerous mark having been eased a further 2 lb. Sole win came at Chelmsford in January 2023; no improvement on switch to turf this year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
REIDH produced a respectable effort when he finished third on his return from a break after being gelded, and he was kindly dropped 1lb for that display. Richard Fahey's four-year-old remains fairly unexposed for his age and he looks the one to beat, with his main threat possibly being the hat-trick seeking Without Delay. The daughter of Decorated Knight goes off a 2lb higher mark than her most recent victory at Catterick and she is likely to be on the premises again. Danzart can pick up any pieces.
REIDH shaped well on his reappearance when third at Wetherby 13 days ago, faring best of those who stuck to the far side, so he could be ready to take advantage of his reduced mark. Without Delay has been thriving of late and is feared most as she bids for the hat-trick, ahead of Danzart.
A strong pace would suit Danzart, but preference is for WITHOUT DELAY (nap) who can complete a three-timer.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Despite being slowly away, BESTIE managed to fly home late to grab third over 6f at Carlisle last week, so he may appreciate this step back up in distance. The son of Advertise goes off an unchanged mark and he could prove the one to beat. Liberty Breeze was far from disgraced when she finished fourth at Catterick on her return to the fray and she should remain competitive off the same rating, while Profiteer is another to note after his third at Carlisle last month.
LIBERTY BREEZE ran well on her return from 6 months off at Catterick earlier in the month and tops the shortlist from an unchanged mark. Langholm is a consistent sort who should give his running once more, whilst Beechwood Star is well drawn in stall 12 and produced a pleasing effort at Wetherby last time, so they are taken to complete the placings.
The bottom weight Profiteer looks dangerous and has scope, but preference is for PREFER THE SISTER who has been going close.

4th (3) (40/1 -567%) Noble Anthem |
40/1(-567%) | (3) Noble Anthem 40/1, Course winner. 11/2, eighth of 9 in handicap at Ripon (8f, heavy) 67 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive, Held in last two starts and has stamina to prove over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (7/2 -5%) Gastronomy |
7/2(-5%) | (6) Gastronomy 7/2, Winner at Newcastle in April who got back on track when good third of 11 in handicap (13/2) at Catterick (13.9f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Claims off same mark here. Record of 1-17 leaves him with a bit to prove and he may find this level a bit warm. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It will be interesting to see what the market makes of Boldly on his return from a 236-day absence, as he's unexposed for a top yard and now sports a first-time tongue-tie. You can also make cases for Kitsune Power and Noble Anthem, but GASTRONOMY edges the vote on the basis that he has improved markedly this year with his only poor run coming at York last month.
KITSUNE POWER has been cut plenty of slack by the handicapper and ran well here last week. He gets the nod. Boldly is still low mileage and is feared most.
This could prove tactical which may be in favour of LA PULGA, whose last two wins have come under positive rides.

A competitive sprint to close the card and the eye is immediately drawn to EMERALDS PRIDE. She was in the form of her life towards the back end of last season, racking up three wins on the spin in August and September, and she picked up from where she left off at Beverley on her seasonal bow last month. She can be marked up for that effort too, given she dwelt leaving the stalls and was towards the rear - which leaves horses with a mountain to climb over that 5f trip on the Westwood. Albegone is another in-form sprinter to note coming in here on the back of two encouraging efforts at Catterick, while Herakles isn't without a squeak.
EMERALDS PRIDE extended her winning run at Beverley last month and remains fairly treated. She can go in again. Le Beau Garcon and Law of Average head the list of dangers.
Michael Dods' mare EMERALDS PRIDE continues to thrive and she can rack up a five-timer after her stylish Beverley reappearance victory
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
