Ripple Effect arrives on the back of two creditable efforts in defeat and she's likely to be in the mix with a similar bid. However, she could prove to be vulnerable, with GHOST RUN topping the bill. There was plenty of encouragement to be taken from her fifth-placed debut at Goodwood last month and that experience should enable a more polished performance. Ripon runner-up Beronia is also sure to prove popular.

GHOST RUN caught the eye on debut when fifth in what is traditionally a decent maiden at Goodwood 3 weeks ago so could be the answer. Alice Fairfax and Beronia also showed something to work on first time up, while Shining Pearl is a newcomer to note.

Shining Pearl is a newcomer of note but Final Angel and GHOST RUN can leave their debut runs well behind them.

Having landed the spoils in taking fashion at both Redcar and Carlisle last month, PABORUS has a bright future ahead of him. Ed Bethell's gelding enters handicaps off what looks to be a workable mark and a hat-trick could be on the horizon. The biggest threat may emerge from fellow last-time-out winner Diligent Resdev, who surprised at big odds when leading in the dying strides at York last month. Cargin Bhui and Piz Nair also have the form to feature.

BURDETT improved to score impressively in a big field at York last time and is worth a chance to follow up at the possible expense of Paborus, who is improving rapidly and makes plenty of appeal on handicap debut. Cargin Bhui and Piz Nair are in good order and expected to be on the premises, too.

The in form PABORUS looks well treated and is taken to complete a hat-trick on his handicap debut.

The Iain Jardine-trained Catherine Chroi has already racked up six victories in 2024 and she warrants respect having displayed a willing attitude to triumph at Hamilton on her most recent outing. However, the returning MEZZO SOPRANO capped off last year's campaign with a cosy victory at Kempton and a 6lb rise is unlikely to prove to be the ceiling of her ability. The Exceed And Excel filly could take all the beating, while Mereside Diva and Fiver Friday are unlikely to go down without a fight either.

MEZZO SOPRANO rewarded the patient approach of connections in spades during the second half of 2023, winning all 3 starts, and this well-bred filly rather stands out on profile ahead of this reappearance. Mereside Diva is more exposed but seems sure to give it a good go, as should the thriving Catherine Chroi.

Unbeaten MEZZO SOPRANO is taken to show further progress and make a successful reappearance. Mereside Diva is second choice.

ALIGN THE STARS (third) and Victory Shout (second) were not disgraced in a tactical race at Hamilton a fortnight ago, but the former was doing his best work in the closing stages and is taken to reverse the form over this slightly longer trip. Dunstan has proven stamina and is also a key player on his debut for Tom Dascombe, while stepping up in distance can also be a source of improvement for Castle In The Sand, who appeals as best of the rest.

TOO BOSSY FOR US continued his theme of race-by-race progress when opening his account at Ascot (10f) 5 weeks ago, the steady gallop probably masking his superiority to a degree. He shades the vote to continue on his upward curve tackling this longer trip. Align The Stars remains the type to do better again and is also of interest, with Extra Beat and Fox Legacy completing the shortlist.

A tough heat but the most unexposed horse here is FOX LEGACY who shaped well on his return. Too Bossy For Us can chase him home.

A draw on the stands-side rail can be beneficial for LOOKING FOR LYNDA, who has been threatening to land one of these big-field sprints for a while and a bold showing is expected from the Karl Burke-trained four-year-old. Tees Spirit can also figure strongly if gets a solo on the far side, although Catterick winner Tatterstall is another live-wire when he gets the fractions right. Burning Cash is an each-way contender with first-time cheekpieces added.

An ultra-competitive feature in which the suggestion is TATTERSTALL, who proved better than ever with a dominant display from the front at Catterick last Saturday and a 7 lb rise may not be enough to stop Michael Dods's 4-y-o from going in again. Fair Wind notched his third career success from just a handful of starts at Goodwood last month, so he heads up the dangers, with American Affair, Looking For Lynda and Jer Batt all having plenty going for them, too.

Bergerac should make a bold bid but FAIR WIND (nap) created a big impression at Goodwood and he can go in again.

Dark Moon Rising produced a bit of a shock when scoring by just over a length at Hamilton earlier in the month and he has to be taken seriously off 4lb higher. However, preference is for RATHGAR, who hit the frame in a slightly stronger contest than this at Salisbury last time. With David Probert taking over the reins, he could be the one to beat, while Banderas is also noted.

LETSBEFRANK appeals as one who should have more to offer on the back of his convincing Hamilton success and can make light of a 6 lb rise with the step up to 1¾m likely to suit him on breeding. Valley of Flowers made good progress in 2023 and an encouraging reappearance at Nottingham suggests she's set for another productive campaign so she's feared most. Churchella and Marbuzet also make the shortlist.

Although up in grade, LETSBEFRANK won going away last time and could still be well treated, with this step up looking positive.

Lettuce Leaf finished five lengths clear of the fourth when she hit the frame at this level on her latest outing at Redcar and she should remain competitive off the same rating. That said, she could come out second best to CUBAN STORM, who had Glory Hyde (second), Pinpoint (third) and Dandy Fitz (fifth) behind when successful at Redcar last month. The son of Havana Grey can confirm that form to record a double, while Willolarupi is another to consider after his third at Catterick.

Tom Tate's low-mileage filly LETTUCE LEAF made a promising return when a sweet-travelling Redcar third and is fancied to build on it here and open her account. Secret Command is feared most on the back of his recent Catterick success, with Redcar-winner Cuban Storm another who commands plenty of respect. In-form trio It's Showtime, Alfa Moonstone and Pinpoint all need factoring into this competitive handicap too.

Fiendish fare but Barnaby could benefit from wind surgery and LETTUCE LEAF looked ahead of her mark at Redcar.
