1st (4) (13/2 +68%) Quian |
13/2(+68%) | (4) Quian 13/2, Smart performer on Flat (stays 2m) at one time but seems only modest at best over hurdles. More is needed on his handicap hurdle debut. Showed first significant hurdling promise when fifth in recent Lingfield novice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (15/2 +46%) King's Castle |
15/2(+46%) | (7) King's Castle 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. 4/1, last of 5 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) in July. Switches to hurdles and others more persuasive. Fair fourth in C&D novice in February but absent since a very poor Flat run in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 +29%) Phoenix Aquilus |
5/1(+29%) | (3) Phoenix Aquilus 5/1, Fairly useful staying handicapper on Flat at best but just a modest maiden over hurdles. Showed an aptitude for chasing when placed at Ludlow and Hereford last two runs. Solid claims again back in this sphere. Placed in two chases last month and switches back to hurdling on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/2 +0%) Johnny Boom |
5/2(+0%) | (5) Johnny Boom 5/2, A fair winner at 12f on Flat for his current yard who also posted a very good second of 15 after 8 months off in handicap hurdle over C&D 28 days ago, travelling strongly long way. Form has been franked so he's a big player. Seven-time Flat winner; good second of 15 over C&D last month; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (6/1 -33%) Dancing Harry |
6/1(-33%) | (9) Dancing Harry 6/1, A fairly useful winner at 14f on Flat. Also showed some promise in four runs in this sphere last winter so he needs considering on only his second go in handicaps. Pretty useful on the Flat; fair fourth here on handicap hurdle debut but needs to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (9/2 -35%) Karloss |
9/2(-35%) | (10) Karloss 9/2, Gambled on and much imporoved on yard debut (formerly with Ian O'Connor) when landing 12-runner handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, good to soft) 64 days ago. Not taken lightly despite a 8 lb hike in the weights. Improved to win readily on stable debut at Sedgefield in October; could have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (10/1 +38%) Moonshine Spirit |
10/1(+38%) | (8) Moonshine Spirit 10/1, Maiden hurdler who came in only eleventh of 12 in handicap hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f, soft) 17 days ago, folding. Needs to bounce back. Placed off 5lb higher in June but out of sorts on recent outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (33/1 -267%) Chadlington Lad |
33/1(-267%) | (11) Chadlington Lad 33/1, Modest maiden hurdler who ended last term with a good second at Huntingdon (2m) in March for Ben Pauling. Since had a wind op and not ruled out for his new yard. 0-11 over hurdles for Ben Pauling and makes stable debut after 274-day absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (80/1 -220%) Zufal |
80/1(-220%) | (1) Zufal 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden hurdler. Only ninth of 10 in novice hurdle at Newton Abbot (16.8f, heavy) 54 days ago. Makes handicap debut with work to do. Fourth at massive odds in one qualifying race but pulled up in the other two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (66/1 +0%) Sous Surveillance |
66/1(+0%) | (12) Sous Surveillance 66/1, Poor maiden on the Flat and not enough encouragement over hurdles to make him of interest in this. Tailed off when 66-1 for handicap hurdle debut at Plumpton in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (50/1 +0%) No Mean Feat |
50/1(+0%) | (6) No Mean Feat 50/1, Pulled up sole start in points and just poor form to date under Rules, also pulled up on his handicap bow at Ffos Las last month. Hard to warm to. Pulled up on last month's handicap debut; drops back in trip with blinkers added here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having shown a liking for this particular venue, Dancing Harry looks likely to go well, with his match-fitness topped up after a spin around Kempton on the Flat last month. Sedgefield winner Karloss is also noteworthy, but a chance is taken on previous point-to-point winner OMAHA WISH being able to build on the promise shown in two respectable efforts over timber since returning after wind surgery in October.
JOHNNY BOOM shaped very well after a lay-off when a strong-travelling runner-up over C&D last time and looks very much the way to go with that form also proving strong. Karloss hit the ground running for his new yard when scoring at Sedgefield and rates the obvious threat with Phoenix Aquilus and Omaha Wish in the mix for minor honours.
The suggestion is KARLOSS, who has considerable scope to progress from his winning stable debut at Sedgefield.

Kauto Castillo |
(5) (6/1 +70%)6/1(+70%) | (5) Kauto Castillo 6/1, Castle Du Berlais gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler/chase winner Bal Kauto. Dam, maiden on Flat, closely related to top-class multiple Grade 1 chase winner (stayed 3¼m) Kauto Star. One to note on pedigree, for all that he may need more time. Out of a close relation to Kauto Star; the betting should help guide to expectations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Inside Man |
(4) (8/15 -47%)8/15(-47%) | (4) Inside Man 8/15, From a good family and made a really positive start when runner-up in a juvenile at Wincanton 46 days ago. That form has been boosted by the winner since and he's well fancied to go one better. Clear with a subsequent Listed winner on Wincanton debut; sets a good standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kingly Fighter |
(6) (11/2 +21%)11/2(+21%) | (6) Kingly Fighter 11/2, Lord of England gelding. Dam, placed on Flat in France, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 2¼m) Konig Hall. Respected on debut. From a respected stable but has a useful standard to aim at on debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Great Valley |
(3) (14/1 -115%)14/1(-115%) | (3) Great Valley 14/1, Related to numerous winners but little better than modest form is his 2 starts, beaten 23 lengths into second at Kempton (2m, soft) latterly. Beaten 23l when second at Kempton recently and will need more to trouble Inside Man. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Outside Half |
(8) (17/2 -6%)17/2(-6%) | (8) Outside Half 17/2, Mukhadram gelding. Dam (h113), 2m hurdle winner (stayed 2½m), half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 25f) Bally Beaufort. The first foal of a 2m hurdle winner from a decent family; yard can ready one.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bobacious |
(1) (40/1 -60%)40/1(-60%) | (1) Bobacious 40/1, Flat-bred gelding who showed only poor form in bumpers and doesn't make much appeal first time in this sphere. Comfortably held in two bumpers ahead of this switch to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Vinnie O'neil |
(10) (50/1 +50%)50/1(+50%) | (10) Vinnie O'neil 50/1, Farhh gelding. Dam ran twice on Flat. Best watched unless the betting suggests otherwise. Probably best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Catboy |
(2) (66/1 -32%)66/1(-32%) | (2) Catboy 66/1, Showed a bit of ability in an Exeter bumper but he's likely to be brought along gradually, so probably won't feature on hurdling debut. Showed a bit on bumper debut but not enough to fancy now hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pivotal Sky |
(9) (100/1 -52%)100/1(-52%) | (9) Pivotal Sky 100/1, Yet to achieve much over hurdles and hard to make a case for. Comfortably held both starts and new headgear needs to transform him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Speiriuil |
(11) (125/1 -279%)125/1(-279%) | (11) Speiriuil 125/1, Fracas filly. Half-sister to 2 winners on Flat, including useful 6f winner Sometimesadiamond. Dam 1¼m-11.7f winner. Related to winners on Flat and betting check needed with her yard among the winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lord Of All Saints |
(7) (150/1 -127%)150/1(-127%) | (7) Lord Of All Saints 150/1, Jeu St Eloi gelding. Dam ran twice over hurdles in France. Not an obvious sort on paper. No obvious paper appeal and would be a surprise winner on debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
INSIDE MAN found only subsequent Aintree winner Liari too good when denied by just less than a length at Wincanton in October. That form is head and shoulders above what the rest with previous experience have to offer and the Jane Williams-trained gelding is hard to oppose. Great Valley is feared most, with his second-placed finish at Kempton last month rated a respectable effort. Kingly Fighter appeals most of the newcomers.
INSIDE MAN pulled clear with a subsequent listed winner on debut and he should make no mistake at the second attempt. Kingly Fighter and Outside Half look the most appealing of the numerous newcomers in opposition.
Unless one of the newcomers turns out to be useful this looks a good chance for INSIDE MAN to build on his debut promising second.

Geezer Rockstar |
(5) (4/1 +11%)4/1(+11%) | (5) Geezer Rockstar 4/1, Getaway gelding who won 13-runner bumper here (16.5f, good to soft, 11/2) on NH debut in April. In good hands and commands respect on switch to hurdling. Stoutly bred so did well to win a bumper here and that was emphatic. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Avada Kedavra |
(2) (7/1 -155%)7/1(-155%) | (2) Avada Kedavra 7/1, Out of an unraced sister to yard's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth. Fourth in an Irish point and made a sound start to his hurdle career when third over 20.5f at Plumpton last month, staying on after mistake 4 out. Down in trip. Can be expected to improve. Shaped well at Plumpton but this drop in trip wouldn't be an obvious positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tregele |
(13) (7/1 +42%)7/1(+42%) | (13) Tregele 7/1, Showed ability in bumpers and ran to a similar level sent hurdling when third of 12 in novice at Worcester (16f, soft). Off 7 months. Third at Worcester in May; out of a smart jumper and should progress further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Beny Nahar Road |
(3) (7/2 +22%)7/2(+22%) | (3) Beny Nahar Road 7/2, Fairly useful maiden on Flat and runner-up both starts over hurdles. Open to further improvement if learning to settle. This fair Flat performer has chased home smart prospects in his two runs over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Fiercely Proud |
(1) (11/10 +51%)11/10(+51%) | (1) Fiercely Proud 11/10, Won first 2 bumpers, including a listed contest at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Down the field in Champion Bumper at Cheltenham and Grade 2 at Aintree subsequently but resumed winning ways switched to hurdling at Hereford on return, taking to it well. Obvious claims under a penalty. Dual bumper winner who won comfortably on hurdling debut at Hereford; penalised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Chauffeur Driven |
(4) (33/1 -106%)33/1(-106%) | (4) Chauffeur Driven 33/1, Won his only start in points and, while he didn't come up to expectations in a bumper at Ascot, he offered something to work on sent hurdling when third at Ffos Las. Bought for £65,000 after winning a point; beaten about 15l in both runs under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ryan's Rocket |
(10) (50/1 -669%)50/1(-669%) | (10) Ryan's Rocket 50/1, €48,000 3-y-o, £110,000 4-y-o, Jet Away gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Powerstown Park and bumper winner/fair hurdler Grageelagh Girl (stays 3¼m). Point winner a year ago. 13/2, only tenth of 13 in bumper at Newbury (soft). Makes hurdles debut. Point winner; tailed off in a Newbury bumper but should be capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
My Friend Sean |
(8) (100/1 -525%)100/1(-525%) | (8) My Friend Sean 100/1, 13/2, green when sixth of 13 in a Hereford bumper 51 days ago. Quickly switches to hurdles. Always towards the rear when beaten 21l in a good-ground bumper at Hereford (13-2). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Not Now Kanne |
(9) (100/1 -203%)100/1(-203%) | (9) Not Now Kanne 100/1, Twice raced on Flat in France, fairly useful form when winning 15f maiden on final start in 2022. Fair form when 1½ lengths fourth in juvenile at Strasbourg on hurdling debut but well held in minor event on same course next time. Has left Emmanuel Clayeux. 1m7f Flat winner on heavy in France; probably up against it in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Nomoreblackjack |
(14) (150/1 -50%)150/1(-50%) | (14) Nomoreblackjack 150/1, Third on first of 2 starts in points but well held all 3 starts under Rules so far. Tailed off in a bumper and two hurdle races, latterly 2m7f at Exeter; very opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Talap |
(11) (150/1 -355%)150/1(-355%) | (11) Talap 150/1, Fairly useful on Flat (stays 1½m), successful penultimate start, ran no sort of race last time. Subsequently left David Pipe. Flat winner; poor final run for David Pipe and looks best watched on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Thurley |
(12) (150/1 -127%)150/1(-127%) | (12) Thurley 150/1, Well held on bumper debut in March but hinted at promise when 18 lengths fourth of 15 in Wincanton maiden hurdle 7 months later. Went backwards at Exeter next time, however. Showed something second time out but Exeter last time was thoroughly underwhelming. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Huckleberry Sting |
(7) (200/1 -33%)200/1(-33%) | (7) Huckleberry Sting 200/1, Well held in bumper/hurdles debut. In top hands but hasn't offered a great deal, latterly sent off at 80-1 in Kempton novice.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Getuptheyard |
(6) (250/1 -25%)250/1(-25%) | (6) Getuptheyard 250/1, Getaway gelding who has been well held in a brace of bumpers 7 months apart and on hurdles debut at Taunton 2 weeks ago. Beaten a long way in two heavy-ground bumpers and in a novice here on good two weeks ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FIERCELY PROUD created a favourable impression when winning comfortably at Hereford last month and is a likely type to brush aside the mandatory 7lb penalty. Geezer Rockstar also impressed when landing a bumper here back in April and, given the second home in that race subsequently made a winning start over hurdles, Harry Fry's gelding enters calculations. Potential improvers Beny Nahar Road and Tregele are a couple of others to note.
Dual-bumper winner FIERCELY PROUD made a promising start to his hurdles career when winning at Hereford on return and can defy a penalty. Geezer Rockstar made a winning debut in a bumper here in April so may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Avada Kedavra and Beny Nahar Road.
Ben Pauling's FIERCELY PROUD won a pretty good bumper at Cheltenham last season and he confirmed himself a nice prospect at Hereford.

Ballee |
(1) (Evens -25%)Evens(-25%) | (1) Ballee Evens, Showed fairly useful form in bumpers and built on his yard/hurdles debut effort when running out a good winner of a C&D novice 2 weeks ago, despite doing a fair bit wrong. Open to further progress and well worth considering under a penalty. Hood back on. Beat short-odds rival over C&D two weeks ago and sets fairly useful hurdling standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Coastal Rock |
(3) (8/1 +0%)8/1(+0%) | (3) Coastal Rock 8/1, Related to four winners and showed a bit to work on when fourth in a Wincanton bumper 8 months ago. Attentions are turned to hurdling with his yard amongst the winners. Fourth of six in Wincanton bumper in April; should improve now hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Time Interval |
(8) (11/1 +21%)11/1(+21%) | (8) Time Interval 11/1, Fairly useful 10f winner on Flat for John Flint. Hood/tongue strap on, ran below that level when fourth in 16-runner Ludlow maiden hurdle on yard debut 17 days ago, no extra between last 2. May be one for handicaps in this sphere. Fairly useful Flat-racer; made quite encouraging hurdle debut but needs to improve here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Larchmont Lass |
(13) (13/8 +54%)13/8(+54%) | (13) Larchmont Lass 13/8, Useful form when winning listed bumper at Sandown in March and she resumed with a good fifth in similar company at Cheltenham last month. Interesting hurdling debutante for leading stable. Listed bumper winner who ought to have a good future over jumps; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pride Of Paris |
(7) (16/1 +52%)16/1(+52%) | (7) Pride Of Paris 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden who posted a good fourth of 11 in novice hurdle (6/1) at Taunton (19f, good to soft) 22 days ago, outpaced between 4 and 3 out and keeping on. Likely type for handicaps back over further. Has some ability but will probably be of greater interest when qualified for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Baskerville |
(2) (40/1 -186%)40/1(-186%) | (2) Baskerville 40/1, Promising start when second of 10 in bumper at Stratford (16.3f) in August and subsequent Wincanton run best excused having slipped entering straight. Interesting what the market makes of him now hurdling. Close second on bumper debut in summer but his second bumper run was disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Jamaicaine |
(12) (40/1 -433%)40/1(-433%) | (12) Jamaicaine 40/1, Runner-up in a French bumper in May 2022. Not helped by a bad mistake 3 out when well-held third on Sedgefield hurdle debut in February. Down in trip on return. Open to improvement. Well held when third on hurdle debut at Sedgefield in February; much more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Jackpot Cash |
(5) (66/1 -32%)66/1(-32%) | (5) Jackpot Cash 66/1, €55,000 3-y-o, Cokoriko gelding. Offered something to work on when fifth of 7 in bumper at Ffos Las (15.8f, good to soft, 20/1) on NH debut 60 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Not beaten far when fifth of seven on bumper but that form is tricky to evaluate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Chatty Chich |
(10) (100/1 -525%)100/1(-525%) | (10) Chatty Chich 100/1, Presenting half-sister to yard's very smart chaser Le Milos. Promise when third on bumper debut at Ludlow (15.7f) in May. Disappointed back from 6 months off at that venue in November but not one to write off now hurdling. Placed in Ludlow bumper in May but back from break with lesser effort there last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Our Nobby |
(6) (200/1 -100%)200/1(-100%) | (6) Our Nobby 200/1, Native Ruler gelding. Didn't offer much in pair of bumpers for Tom George during early 2022. Best watched on this belated return now hurdling. Soundly beaten in two bumpers for Tom George in early 2022; now with new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Behind The Veil |
(9) (200/1 -100%)200/1(-100%) | (9) Behind The Veil 200/1, Kayf Tara mare who had a breathing operation prior to her debut and finished mid-field in a Warwick bumper just over 3 weeks ago. Easy to back, offered little when pulled up on hurdles debut at Lingfield 2 weeks ago. Pulled up when 40-1 for hurdling debut a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Walkinthecotswolds |
(14) (250/1 -150%)250/1(-150%) | (14) Walkinthecotswolds 250/1, Big prices and no promise in bumpers at Cheltenham/Ffos Las 7 months apart. Passed over now attentions switch to timber. Well beaten in both her bumpers; tongue-tie added for hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Darquesse |
(11) (250/1 -25%)250/1(-25%) | (11) Darquesse 250/1, Affinisea mare. Dam winning pointer. Well held on bumper debut at Ludlow last month. Tailed off when 200-1 for recent Ludlow bumper. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BALLEE was an emphatic winner over C&D a fortnight ago and he is expected to defy the penalty en route to further success. Larchmont Lass was far from disgraced in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham last month, having landed a similar event at Sandown in March, and she merits respect on the switch to hurdles. Others to note include Time Interval, Jackpot Cash and Baskerville.
BALLEE did plenty wrong but still managed to show improved form when opening his account in a C&D novice 2 weeks ago, marking himself down as a potentially useful prospect. He earns the vote to concede weight all round and make it 2-3 in this sphere. Larchmont Lass was useful in bumpers and she can emerge as the chief danger, with Jamaicaine, Coastal Rock and Baskerville others to note.
Listed bumper winner Larchmont Lass makes appeal but a useful stablemate of hers was beaten by BALLEE over C&D a fortnight ago.

Gingerbred |
(8) (6/1 +40%)6/1(+40%) | (8) Gingerbred 6/1, Confirmed previous promise when winning a handicap hurdle at Exeter (18.5f) in February but a mixed bag after and hasn't made an encouraging start to chasing career. Hasn't built on handicap hurdle win in February, including switched to fences this season. |

(9) (6/1 +8%)6/1(+8%) | (9) Morfee 6/1, Good second of 8 in handicap chase at Wincanton (20.2f, soft, 15/2) 21 days ago. Well treated based on hurdling form and looks a big player if he can build on latest effort. Only second outing back from long absence when runner-up in a chase at Wincanton; player. |

Hymac |
(1) (8/1 -100%)8/1(-100%) | (1) Hymac 8/1, Ex-pointer who has won a bumper and showed fairly useful form over hurdles. Hasn't reached the track much, however, and recent seasonal/chasing debut at Chepstow was a tame one. Not one to write off completely. Promise in points/bumper/hurdles; disappointed on chase debut, though; tongue-tie goes on. |

Hardy Boy |
(6) (9/2 -80%)9/2(-80%) | (6) Hardy Boy 9/2, In good form over fences this term and ran right up to best once more when runner-up over C&D a fortnight ago. Worth a chance to go one better in a first-time visor. Another good run when caught close home over C&D 14 days ago; visor on; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Game Winner |
(4) (9/4 +36%)9/4(+36%) | (4) Game Winner 9/4, Fair form when fourth at Hereford only start in bumpers for Paul Nicholls and he showed himself to be a fairly useful hurdler after, scoring at Kempton (2m5f) in February. Solid chasing/stable debut (third) at Sandown on return and should improve for the experience. Better than result behind smart Le Patron on chase debut; big player if stamina holds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bumpy Johnson |
(2) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (2) Bumpy Johnson 12/1, Won pair of 2½m Ffos Las handicap hurdles in a productive 2022/3 campaign and shaped as if in need of experience when sixth in a handicap at Exeter on chasing debut 18 days ago. Open to improvement. Dual hurdle winner; probably needed recent chase/seasonal debut; open to progress. |

Balko Saint |
(7) (12/1 +14%)12/1(+14%) | (7) Balko Saint 12/1, Dual winner over hurdles and runner-up 4 times over fences, including at Newton Abbot (21f, good) in June. Weakened quickly back over hurdles back from 5 months off and again ran poorly back in this sphere here 3 weeks ago. Runner-up four times over fences in spring/summer but below par last twice; up in trip. |

Riskintheground |
(5) (17/2 +6%)17/2(+6%) | (5) Riskintheground 17/2, Showed fair winning form over hurdles last season and shaped encouragingly when third of 7 in handicap chase at Kempton penultimate start. Found little at Market Rasen (23.9f) last time so this lesser test should suit. Good third in 3m Kempton chase in October but ran poorly at Market Rasen since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Old Town Garde |
(3) (66/1 -164%)66/1(-164%) | (3) Old Town Garde 66/1, Fairly useful chaser in Ireland for Gordon Elliott but down the field over hurdles on only start for Harry Fry and up against it returning from 9 months off on debut for another new yard. Maiden hurdle winner but 0-7 over fences; first run for new yard after 299 days off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Hardy Boy continues to run well in defeat and he is unlikely to be far away in the first-time visor, but a chance can be taken on GAME WINNER. A shuddering mistake put paid to his chances when sent over fences for the first time at Sandown, but he ought to have learnt plenty from that experience and should fare better dropped in class. Morfee heads the remainder.
HARDY BOY arrives at the top of his game and he's avoided mistakes on the whole the last twice, so he's worth chancing to get his head in front with a visor fitted. Game Winner is a threat on the back of a positive chasing debut and Morfee is likely to be on the premises.
Harry Derham's GAME WINNER ran well for a long way behind Le Patron on his chase/seasonal debut and can build on that promise now.

Individualiste |
(8) (4/1 +27%)4/1(+27%) | (8) Individualiste 4/1, Fair on the Flat in France and he got off the mark for current yard at Taunton (19f) in March 2022. First outing since when an encouraging fourth at Newton Abbot and possibly found the run coming too quickly when fifth at Sandown since. Well worth another chance off a lenient mark. C&D winner in 2022; return was encouraging and perhaps his next race came too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Just Loose Change |
(9) (4/1 +71%)4/1(+71%) | (9) Just Loose Change 4/1, C&D winner in April but he came in only ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (21f, heavy) 37 days ago. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. C&D winner last season but he'll need to leave his last two runs behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Amelia's Dance |
(6) (9/2 +0%)9/2(+0%) | (6) Amelia's Dance 9/2, Added to an excellent record at Taunton when winning last December. Lost her way in the spring but back on song of late, runner-up at Kempton (2m) 17 days ago. Enters calculations. Goes well here and effectively off the same mark as when going close at Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
American Sniper |
(2) (10/3 +17%)10/3(+17%) | (2) American Sniper 10/3, Course scorer who got back to winning ways in first-time tongue strap in 20-runner handicap hurdle at Cheltenham (21f, soft) 27 days ago, finding extra. In the mix despite taking a 6 lb rise. Not the easiest to catch right but won well at Cheltenham latest, with the front two clear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Inferno Sacree |
(4) (11/1 -10%)11/1(-10%) | (4) Inferno Sacree 11/1, Resumed with success in 2m2f handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot but he beat only two in handicap hurdle at Cartmel (17.2f, good to soft) in July. Sort to bounce back after a break. Effective front-runner; went off too fast for his own good when tailed off at Cartmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Samuel Spade |
(5) (11/1 -57%)11/1(-57%) | (5) Samuel Spade 11/1, A fair winning juvenile hurdler last season who took a step back in the right direction when fourth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (16f, soft) 17 days ago. One to consider off an easing mark. Latest Kempton race wasn't run to suit and he might well strip fitter for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Swaffham Bulbeck |
(1) (16/1 -88%)16/1(-88%) | (1) Swaffham Bulbeck 16/1, Returned to hurdles to land a Southwell handicap in September and even better form when second of 12 at Chepstow. Found Greatwood too competitive at Cheltenham since so needs considering in these calmer waters. Outclassed last time but does look on a tough mark and might be vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Iorens |
(11) (18/1 -140%)18/1(-140%) | (11) Iorens 18/1, Twice runner-up in novice company last winter but well below par both runs since. Off 9 months and needs to get back on track. Poor in two handicaps but she won a point and showed promise in novice company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Samtara |
(10) (20/1 -67%)20/1(-67%) | (10) Samtara 20/1, Belatedly off the mark at Hereford in March and backed that up with a fine second at Cheltenham (17f) in April. His run of good form came to an abrupt halt at Worcester in May, though, and off since (has had wind surgery). Pulled up on final run and had wind surgery since; player on last season's peak efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Bashful Boy |
(3) (25/1 -233%)25/1(-233%) | (3) Bashful Boy 25/1, Scored at Newton Abbot in July and not discredited when fourth of 6 in handicap hurdle over C&D (good to soft) 14 days ago. Shortlisted. Had no excuses when only fourth of six runners over C&D two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Santana Plessis |
(7) (125/1 -400%)125/1(-400%) | (7) Santana Plessis 125/1, Fairly useful ex-Irish hurdles winner in 2020 but very lightly raced since and well below par both runs for his current yard this term. Others appeal more. Winner in Ireland; quiet so far for this yard but likely to come good again at some point. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
AMERICAN SNIPER mowed down his rivals in an open heat at Cheltenham last month, with David Pipe noting that his charge had benefitted from the application of a first-time tongue-tie (retained). The five-year-old is 6lb higher, but he'll be a tough nut to crack if arriving in a similar mood. Amelia's Dance appeals as a leading candidate following a brace of runner-up efforts, while Individualiste could also have a say.
A case can be made for a few of these but it is worth siding with Paul Nicholls' low-mileage 5-y-o INDIVIDUALISTE to capitalise on a handy-looking mark. Recent Cheltenham scorer American Sniper rates a massive threat though, while Swaffham Bulbeck can also have a say now his sights are lowered.
Iorens is one of several dangers but the in-form AMELIA'S DANCE looks to have solid claims on a course she runs so well.

Can You Call |
(1) (4/1 -14%)4/1(-14%) | (1) Can You Call 4/1, Off the mark in this sphere at Catterick on final start of 2021/22 and bagged first success over hurdles in a Uttoxeter handicap on New Year's Eve. Little impact next 2 starts but back to form returned to fences when excellent second at Chepstow on comeback, clear of rest. Needs considering. Went close back chasing on 2m3f Chepstow reappearance; respected despite a 5lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Raffle Ticket |
(2) (8/1 +11%)8/1(+11%) | (2) Raffle Ticket 8/1, Point/hurdles winner and positive start over fences, winning at Huntingdon and Worcester. Still in contention when falling 3 out at Uttoxeter next time but well held at Newbury since after 6 months off, possibly needing it. Won back-to-back handicap chases at start of year but well beaten back from break latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Guy |
(4) (9/2 +10%)9/2(+10%) | (4) Guy 9/2, Winning return at Fontwell in October and backed it up when fifth at Cheltenham next 2 starts. Others look better treated, though. Chase winner in October but the handicapper looked in charge on both outings since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tokay Dokey |
(3) (11/1 -100%)11/1(-100%) | (3) Tokay Dokey 11/1, Successful on first 3 starts back in 2018/19 but had a lengthy absence following that season. Opened his chase account at the third attempt in handicap at Market Rasen on Boxing Day 2021 but disappointed next time. Off again since (22 months). Promising in 2021-22; very interesting to see what betting makes of him after long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Heros |
(7) (11/10 +33%)11/10(+33%) | (7) Heros 11/10, Bumper/hurdles winner in France in 2021. Bit disappointing over hurdles last season, but firmly back on track when making a successful return/chase debut over C&D (good to soft) and he's open to improvement as a chaser. Did it nicely on C&D chase debut last month and the third has won since; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Jacamar |
(5) (18/1 -50%)18/1(-50%) | (5) Jacamar 18/1, Capitalised on drop in grade in 9-runner handicap chase at Leicester in February but below par since. Won at Leicester in February but largely below par last term; others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Skinflint |
(6) (33/1 -136%)33/1(-136%) | (6) Skinflint 33/1, Consistent sort who finally got off the mark under Rules at Chepstow in February and defied a 10 lb rise over same C&D following month. Too keen in pursuit of the hat-trick final start but high enough in weights now on return. Two Chepstow wins early in 2023 but off since a remote fourth there in April. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
HEROS won a shade cosily on his chase bow over C&D last month and the six-year-old is fancied to shrug off a 6lb rise in the ratings. Can You Call lost little in defeat when runner-up on his reappearance in a competitive handicap chase at Chepstow in October and may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Guy, who should appreciate the return to his last winning distance.
HEROS improved on his hurdles form at the first attempt when making a winning chase debut over this C&D on return and can defy a 6 lb rise with further progress on the cards. Can You Call was a good second at Chepstow on his comeback and is a clear next best.
With the form boosted, a 6lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent HEROS (nap) adding to last month's C&D chase debut success.

Mactavish |
(6) (5/1 -25%)5/1(-25%) | (6) Mactavish 5/1, Opened his account at Hereford in October and followed up from a 5 lb higher mark with an even better performance back there (21.7f) the following month. Much respected in his hat-trick bid. Comes here after two good-ground wins at Hereford; may need drying conditions here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Wot You Wearing |
(7) (5/1 +0%)5/1(+0%) | (7) Wot You Wearing 5/1, Showed an excellent attitude when making it 3 wins from his last 5 starts in 9-runner handicap hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, soft) 20 days ago, holding on gamely. Step back up in trip could unlock more and remains of interest. Progressive 6yo who is 3-5 since switched to handicaps; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gyllen |
(5) (7/2 -27%)7/2(-27%) | (5) Gyllen 7/2, Took a big step forward on his second run for new yard when landing 19f handicap hurdle (9/2) at this course 14 days ago, unchallenged. Hit with a 13 lb rise, however, and has stamina to prove over this longer trip. Displayed big jolt of improvement to win easily by 13l here (2m3f) two weeks ago; up 13lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Let's Go Amigo |
(4) (8/1 +20%)8/1(+20%) | (4) Let's Go Amigo 8/1, Looked unlucky not to win 10-runner handicap at Ludlow (23.8f) in May, rallying after not clear run before straight. Possibly needed the run more than the market suggested when 27 lengths sixth of 7 to Top Cloud in C&D handicap 14 days ago. Visor on for 1st time. Made low-key reappearance over C&D last month and David Bass rides the stable's other one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Joe Cotton |
(9) (9/2 +72%)9/2(+72%) | (9) Joe Cotton 9/2, Lightly-raced maiden under Rules who failed to improve switched to a handicap when fifth of 15 at Exeter (21.6f) 18 days ago. Still early days but needs more. Dual point winner; unexposed under rules but made just a respectable handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Karakoram |
(10) (10/1 +17%)10/1(+17%) | (10) Karakoram 10/1, C&D winner who confirmed his return to form when sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at this course (19f, good to soft, 5/1) 14 days ago. Player back up in trip. C&D winner off 2lb higher in March but tends to hit a flat spot in his races nowadays. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Grass's Jet |
(1) (12/1 +0%)12/1(+0%) | (1) Grass's Jet 12/1, Runner-up sole start in Irish points and some promise in novice/maiden hurdles but opening mark could have been kinder. Displayed promise in all three qualifying races; upped in trip for today's handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Samatian |
(11) (17/2 -6%)17/2(-6%) | (11) Samatian 17/2, Put a disappointing reappearance behind him when third of 10 in handicap hurdle at Ludlow (23.8f, soft) 17 days ago. Unexposed at this trip and seems likely to go well again. Just 1-15 over hurdles but ran well at Ludlow last month and is still unexposed over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Oscarsman |
(3) (33/1 -32%)33/1(-32%) | (3) Oscarsman 33/1, Plumpton winner in 2019 but he ended last term with a couple of poor efforts and has something to prove on his seasonal return. Ended last season with two poor runs but resumes on a tempting mark; can't be ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Be My Sea |
(8) (125/1 -213%)125/1(-213%) | (8) Be My Sea 125/1, Modest handicap hurdler who returned from a long absence with an effort of little promise at Chepstow on debut for current stable. Plenty to prove up in trip. Pulled up on last month's stable debut after a long layoff; current ability hard to gauge. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GYLLEN was most impressive when romping home over 2m3f here last month and Kayley Woollacott's gelding may be able to find enough improvement on the step up to 3m to defy a 13lb rise in the handicap. Dangers are aplenty, headed by the hat-trick seeking Mactavish, who should also improve for this extra yardage. Fellow last-time-out winners Wot You Wearing and Top Cloud are likely to make their presence felt too.
A competitive handicap with plenty arriving in form. KARAKORAM has dipped below his last winning mark and confirmed his return to form here a couple of weeks ago, so he's the tentative selection. Hat-trick seekers Wot You Wearing and Mactavish head up the opposition.
Kayley Woollacott's GYLLEN cruised clear to win very stylishly over 2m3f here a fortnight ago and is taken to overcome a 13lb rise.
Ths is the racecard key.
