1st (6) (9/4 +0%) Honey Jack |
9/4(+0%) | (6) Honey Jack 9/4, Showed a bit more when fourth of 8 on recent handicap debut upped to 24.6f at Kempton. Possibilities here off 1 lb lower with that run under his belt. Fair fourth on this month's handicap debut at Kempton and he could have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/2 -22%) Native Moon |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Native Moon 11/2, Signs of promise on each of his last 2 starts in novice/maiden hurdles but never figured when pulled up on handicap debut at Uttoxeter (23.3f, soft) in May. Remains early days now starting out for new yard. Pulled up on h'cap debut but glimpses of promise previously; not written off; yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 +52%) Inchagoill Lady |
16/1(+52%) | (7) Inchagoill Lady 16/1, Appeared to take a step forward when third on chase debut/second start for this yard following a wind op at Exeter (3m. heavy) in March. However, it's been all downhill since and she's passed over. Dropping down the weights but pulled up on reappearance, so it's hard to be confident. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/1 +18%) Diamatiste |
7/1(+18%) | (2) Diamatiste 7/1, Fourth both starts in points. Hinted at ability in maiden/novices at the beginning of 2024 but pulled up on handicap debut in March and step forward needed now faced with a stiffer test. Pulled up on handicap debut here in March (2m) but dam won at up to 3m2f; no forlorn hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 -122%) Chauffeur Driven |
10/1(-122%) | (3) Chauffeur Driven 10/1, Point winner. Also third in maiden/novice hurdles around 2m last winter but has disappointed in both handicaps, latterly when 3/1 favourite at Ffos Las 18 days ago. First-time cheekpieces worn on that occasion are now replaced by blinkers and a tongue tie. Evidently thought capable of better. Pulled off/tailed off in his two handicaps but short odds each time; things may click soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/1 +25%) Outside Adesa |
6/1(+25%) | (5) Outside Adesa 6/1, Runner-up both outings in Irish points and some decent efforts for Mitchell Hunt over hurdles last season. Returns to this sphere following a low-key return tried over fences for new yard at Uttoxeter and he's not a forlorn hope. He may have needed his stable debut four weeks ago and a case can be made on March form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (14/1 +0%) Ca Plane Pour Moi |
14/1(+0%) | (4) Ca Plane Pour Moi 14/1, Had been shaping up quite well for Colm Murphy, but yet to offer much encouragement for current yard. Cheekpieces and tongue strap enlisted. His mark continues to fall but he's struggled; new headgear needs to have dramatic effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (25/1 0%) Till You Can't |
25/1(0%) | (10) Till You Can't 25/1, No show in 2 bumpers/3 starts over hurdles to date. Big step forward needed now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Makes handicap debut off lowly mark and over new trip, but he's shown little over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (7/1 +0%) Hi Riko |
7/1(+0%) | (8) Hi Riko 7/1, Wasn't disgraced back hurdling in a first-time hood (discarded here) on return/debut for new yard at Ffos Las (2½m, good to soft) earlier this month. Down another 2 lb and couldn't rule out back up in trip. 0-14 but ran okay when sixth on recent stable debut and he may be able to build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (40/1 -60%) Confused Again |
40/1(-60%) | (11) Confused Again 40/1, Little promise in trio of maiden/novice hurdles at around 2m at Exeter last season. Opposable on handicap debut following an 8-month absence. Tailed off on all 3 starts but the step up in trip is an interesting move on h'cap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Each of these have questions to answer, but better was clearly expected of CHAUFFEUR DRIVEN on his seasonal return at Ffos Las. Sent off the 3/1 favourite, David Pipe's charge was prominent for a long way before weakening approaching two from home. That will have blown the cobwebs away, though, and from 3lb lower with a tongue-tie and blinkers applied for the first time, he could step forward. Better is anticipated from Native Moon, who has changed stables since pulling up at Uttoxeter in May, while Honey Jack may be able to build on his recent Kempton performance.
A chance is taken on HI RIKO, who appears to retain ability judged on his recent reappearance spin at Ffos Las and he has slipped to a dangerous mark. Honey Jack merits respect on the back of an encouraging handicap debut effort at Kempton and he is next on the list ahead of Native Moon and Chauffeur Driven.
This may not take much winning and HONEY JACK, who was a fair fourth on his handicap debut at Kempton, is taken to come out on top.

1st (6) (11/8 +69%) Jackpot Des Bordes |
11/8(+69%) | (6) Jackpot Des Bordes 11/8, Made a winning bumper debut at Hereford a year ago and improved form when second at Wincanton 5 months later. In tongue strap for seasonal/hurdling bow, in need of experience when mid-field in Exeter maiden (18.5f, good to soft) last month. Capable of better. Probably needed the run at Exeter and his bumper form makes for good reading. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (3/1 +57%) Saint Anapolino |
3/1(+57%) | (10) Saint Anapolino 3/1, Successful on sole outing in point bumpers and has shown encouragement both starts under Rules, runner-up in bumper at Exeter (16.7f, heavy) when last seen in January. One to note on hurdling debut with yard going well. Shaped with plenty of promise under rules in races won by smart types. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +40%) Dance And Glance |
9/2(+40%) | (1) Dance And Glance 9/2, Built on debut promise when winning a Plumpton bumper and, after 6 months off, faced a simple task when making a successful start over hurdles in 4-runner maiden at Southwell (15.8f, good) 13 days ago. This is tougher but he's open to improvement. This is much stronger than the Southwell race he won and has a penalty to carry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (20/1 -25%) Jukebox Annie |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Jukebox Annie 20/1, Landed a 3-runner bumper at Newton Abbot on second start but was struggling when falling at this C&D on hurdles debut final outing last season. However, after a year off she caused a surprise when winning 4-runner novice back here (good) 2 weeks ago. More needed. Both wins have come in small fields for weak races; opposable in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (200/1 -400%) Dark Material |
200/1(-400%) | (4) Dark Material 200/1, Made appeal on paper but shaped as if amiss when tailed off in a Wincanton bumper on debut last December. However, finished well held at the same course 4 months later and off another 7 months ahead of going hurdling. Tailed off in two Wincanton bumpers (heavy/good) and one to watch for the time being. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (100/1 -355%) Brave Move |
100/1(-355%) | (2) Brave Move 100/1, Failed to meet market expectations in bumpers 10 months apart and in need of the experience when third of 6 in novice at Hereford (16.2f, good) on hurdling debut 16 days ago. However, he's entitled to do better with his latest run behind him. Beaten 18l+ in all his races, the latest on hurdling debut at Hereford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (150/1 0%) D'gesteevo |
150/1(0%) | (3) D'gesteevo 150/1, Went with little encouragement in a pair of bumpers and fared no better sent hurdling, tailed off when refused 3 out in maiden at Chepstow (16f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Refused three out at Chepstow when tailed off at the time (125-1); now goes in cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (18/1 -80%) Youdecide |
18/1(-80%) | (14) Youdecide 18/1, Irish point winner who was sent off favourite but found wanting for finishing speed when fifth of 10 in bumper at Sandown (16f, good) 18 days ago. Yard enjoying success with their hurdle debutants, but he's likely to be suited by further in time. Point winner; got outpaced in a Sandown bumper but did go off favourite; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (9/2 +63%) Siam Park |
9/2(+63%) | (11) Siam Park 9/2, Made the frame in maiden hurdles at Wincanton first 2 starts under Rules but hasn't progressed since. After 6 months off (had wind op), in process of running below form when falling in handicap at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) last time. Hood now reached for. Now 0-5 over hurdles and was beaten when falling in a Chepstow handicap; now hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (33/1 -18%) Les's Jersey Royal |
33/1(-18%) | (8) Les's Jersey Royal 33/1, Held back by inexperience in a Kempton bumper in February but, after 9 months off, he showed some promise sent hurdling when fifth of 12 in maiden at Leicester (20.5f, good to soft) 10 days ago. May be one for further down the line. Well held in a Kempton bumper and again on his switch to hurdling at Leicester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (150/1 -500%) Manhattan Valley |
150/1(-500%) | (9) Manhattan Valley 150/1, Castle Du Berlais gelding. Dam unraced sister to useful hurdler (stayed 19f) Bravissimo and half-sister to winning hurdler/fairly useful chaser (17f-23f winner) Dashing Rose. Off mark in Irish points at fourth attempt in May. Likely one for the longer term. Won his fourth start in Irish points but probably up against it in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (150/1 -50%) Dublin To Milan |
150/1(-50%) | (5) Dublin To Milan 150/1, Made the frame all 3 starts in points but has offered little in a trio of novice hurdles, beaten a long way when seventh of 12 at Ffos Las (15.8f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Looks to be up against it. Has hinted at ability but nothing like enough to recommend in a novice of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) (200/1 -150%) Staff Sergeant Len |
200/1(-150%) | (12) Staff Sergeant Len 200/1, Much improved from debut when narrowly denied in a Fontwell bumper (17.7f) in January. However, failed to repeat that effort next time and, after 8-month absence, tailed off on first start over hurdles at Wincanton (15.2f, good) 19 days ago. His near-miss in a Fontwell bumper (soft) is a complete standout in his form; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Dance And Glance landed a NH Flat race at Plumpton before justifying short odds at Southwell on his hurdling bow. He merits respect under the penalty, but the vote goes to JACKPOT DES BORDES. A bumper winner himself before finding the smart Celtic Dino too strong at Wincanton, he failed to fire on his jumping debut having lacked fluency. He should be sharper this time around, though, and it would come as no surprise were he to find considerable improvement. Saint Anapolino enters calculations, while Tripoli Flyer struck at Market Rasen on Wednesday and would be a significant player if turning up here too.
Having shown useful form in bumpers, TRIPOLI FLYER was beaten only by another decent prospect at Chepstow on his hurdling debut so he looks to the one to beat if taking up this engagement. Jackpot des Bordes was also a winner in bumpers and could be the main danger with his first run over hurdles behind him, ahead of Saint Anapolino.
Tripoli Flyer would be hard to beat if turned out quickly but perhaps YOUDECIDE can step up on his Sandown run.
