1st (7) (2/1 +27%) Nadim |
2/1(+27%) | (7) Nadim 2/1, Improved since switched to handicaps, close second at Southwell 5 weeks ago. Player. Runner-up in both handicaps; upped in trip with cheekpieces added today; may not want rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8.5/1 +53%) Zafar |
8.5/1(+53%) | (1) Zafar 8.5/1, Doesn't look the force of old and others make more appeal despite sliding mark. Won't mind what the weather does here but needs a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (4.5/1 -13%) Born To Please |
4.5/1(-13%) | (8) Born To Please 4.5/1, Just 1 win from 23 hurdles starts, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Respected. Went close over 2m here in April and also ran well over 2m4f at Uttoxeter last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (33/1 -175%) Dutch Admiral |
33/1(-175%) | (4) Dutch Admiral 33/1, Modest hurdler who made s respectable return to this sphere when fourth of 7 in handicap at Worcester (16f, good, 14/1) 31 days ago but bit to find. Ran okay when back over hurdles last month but overall profiles remains unconvincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (12/1 +14%) Rebel Royal |
12/1(+14%) | (10) Rebel Royal 12/1, Just the one win over hurdles, which was gained back in October 2019, and it's hard to draw any positives from what he's shown in 2 starts since returning from a break. Gained only win in 2019 but runs this track well; not ruled out off career-lo mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (3/1 +33%) Mickyh |
3/1(+33%) | (9) Mickyh 3/1, Going well when falling 2 out (looked likely winner) in handicap at Fontwell but let down by jumping again when only fifth there next time. Finished weakly on latest outing but earlier form makes him of significant interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (28/1 +15%) Jakamani |
28/1(+15%) | (3) Jakamani 28/1, Winner at Fontwell 2 years ago but little form in light campaign since. Made good start to handicap career in 2021 but lightly raced and very disappointing since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (6.5/1 -8%) Ayr Of Elegance |
6.5/1(-8%) | (2) Ayr Of Elegance 6.5/1, C&D winner who was back to form to win 4-runner handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (18.5f, good to firm, 10/1) 32 days ago, driven out. Needs considering up only 2 lb. Still well handicapped after last month's small-field win and this C&D suits her well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Nadim has hit the crossbar on each of his last two outings and he is likely to be in contention once more, but he didn't overly convince with his jumping at Southwell last time so the vote goes to AYR OF ELEGANCE. DJ Jeffreys' evergreen mare kept on strongly to strike in a class 4 event against her own sex at Newton Abbot and she could make all off only a 2lb higher rating. Dutch Admiral is also worth a second look after his fourth at Worcester.
NADIM has improved in handicaps and could open his account over hurdles for his in-form yard. Newton Abbot-winner Ayr of Elegance and Born To Please are feared.
She's the oldest runner in the field but C&D winner AYR OF ELEGANCE is still well handicapped after last month's Newton Abbot success.

1st (13) (33/1 +34%) Vitani |
33/1(+34%) | (13) Vitani 33/1, Poor maiden on the Flat. Achieved next to nothing when a distant second of 3 finishers on her Newton Abbot hurdle debut 19 days ago. Modest maiden on the Flat and didn't achieve much when remote second on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 -67%) Two Past Eight |
2/1(-67%) | (1) Two Past Eight 2/1, Fair maiden on Flat who struck at the first time of asking over hurdles in Aintree juvenile last month. Should be more to come from him. Kept on well for clearcut success at Aintree last month and sets the form standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4.5/1 +31%) Gifted Angel |
4.5/1(+31%) | (7) Gifted Angel 4.5/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. Should be up to making an impact in a race like this now hurdling. 0-13 on the Flat but was good second at Haydock (1m2f; fair form) last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (80/1 -220%) Angel's Voice |
80/1(-220%) | (2) Angel's Voice 80/1, Modest maiden on Flat who was tailed off behind Two Past Eight on his Aintree hurdle debut last month. Placed in AW nursery in October but tailed off behind Two Past Eight on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (1.62/1 +60%) Swiss Money |
1.62/1(+60%) | (10) Swiss Money 1.62/1, Fairly useful dual winner on the Flat for Yann Barberot in France, leaving that yard after winning a 1¼m Longchamp claimer a month. Likely type now hurdling for a stable with a good record in these events. Won on the Flat in France last month; no surprise if he features on stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (33/1 -136%) Maitre De Perles |
33/1(-136%) | (8) Maitre De Perles 33/1, Modest form on Flat (stays 1½m) for Roger Varian. Joined another good stable for hurdle debut. One to note in the betting. Made the frame in 1m4f AW handicap in February (modest form); stable/hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (6/1 +50%) Sunrise Boy |
6/1(+50%) | (9) Sunrise Boy 6/1, Modest on Flat last year. Hooded first time, showed a bit when 15½ lengths fourth of 8 to Two Past Eight in juvenile at Aintree (16.5f, good to firm, 16/1) on hurdle debut 30 days ago, finishing with running left. May do better. Kept on for fourth behind Two Past Eight on hurdling debut at Aintree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (12/1 +40%) Devil's Kingdom |
12/1(+40%) | (5) Devil's Kingdom 12/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. 9/2, dropped away to finish remote sixth to the reopposing Two Past Eight on Aintree hurdle debut last month. Has subsequently undergone wind surgery. Placed on the Flat last summer but about 33l behind Two Past Eight on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (40/1 -150%) Favorite Boy |
40/1(-150%) | (6) Favorite Boy 40/1, First foal of a Flat and 4-time hurdle winner for these connections. One to note in the betting on debut. First foal; dam fair Flat/hurdle winner for these connections; makes his debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (150/1 -355%) Aussie Mystic |
150/1(-355%) | (3) Aussie Mystic 150/1, Poor form on the Flat so hardly strikes as an obvious one to make a winning start to his hurdle career. Has first-time cheekpieces added to the tongue tie he wore on the level. Last of ten in basement-grade Flat race on Monday; cheekpieces on for hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (200/1 -1150%) Constitution |
200/1(-1150%) | (4) Constitution 200/1, Modest on the balance of his Flat form. Outsider now hurdling for a new stable. Quickly became very disappointing on the Flat; makes stable/hurdle debut here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TWO PAST EIGHT had Sunrise Boy (fourth), Devil's Kingdom (sixth) and Angel's Voice (eighth) behind him when he made his first appearance over hurdles at Aintree, with Alan King's juvenile justifying favouritism to strike by just over two lengths. Considering the manner of that victory, he could be well up to defying his 7lb penalty. Any market support for the ex-French Swiss Money would be interesting, with Harry Cobden on top for his first start under NH rules.
Aintree winner TWO PAST EIGHT is the percentage call, although a strong market move for Milton Harris French Flat recruit Swiss Money would put a slightly different slant on things. Sasissante is another who achieved enough on the Flat in France to think she could make an impact in a race like this if taking to this new discipline.
Aintree winner Two Past Eight has obvious claims but the forecast rain makes French Flat winner SAISISSANTE of strong interest.

1st (5) (0.44/1 +23%) The Galahad Kid |
0.44/1(+23%) | (5) The Galahad Kid 0.44/1, Unbeaten in 2 bumpers last summer and shaped well on his hurdling debut after 10 months off when clear second at Southwell 20 days ago. Has more to offer and is very much the one to beat. Dual Irish point and dual bumper winner in 2022; second on hurdle debut; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (33/1 -32%) Climbing |
33/1(-32%) | (2) Climbing 33/1, Had a wind op and fitted with tongue strap/hood when only fifth of 6 in bumper at Southwell (15.8f, good) on NH debut 53 days ago. Makes hurdles debut with more rerquired. From good jumping family but made low-key bumper debut in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5.5/1 +8%) Trick Of The Tail |
5.5/1(+8%) | (6) Trick Of The Tail 5.5/1, Fair form shown in bumpers and since sent hurrdling, solid fourth of eight in C&D novice 12 days ago. Cheekpieces go on for first time. Good place prospects. Clear second at Bangor last month and ran well for a long way when fourth here recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (6.5/1 +54%) Isabella Bee |
6.5/1(+54%) | (9) Isabella Bee 6.5/1, Placed in points but only modest form shown thus far in a pair of 2m Uttoxeter novice hurdles. Needs to take a step forward if he's to trouble his stablemate The Galahad Kid. Placed in both Irish points but showed only minor promise on last year's two hurdle runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (40/1 +20%) Just A Mystery |
40/1(+20%) | (3) Just A Mystery 40/1, Well-held eighth of 15 in novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (18.3f, good to soft, 33/1) on NH debut 42 days ago for John Costello. Yard switch needs to spark improvement. Pulled up in both Irish points and also struggled on hurdle debut; now with new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (50/1 -257%) Churchman |
50/1(-257%) | (1) Churchman 50/1, Showed some encouragement when debut seventh in 2m Ludlow novice hurdle but failed to build on it when sixth in similar company at Bangor 36 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Made fairly encouraging hurdle debut but was a long way behind Trick Of The Tail last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (22/1 +12%) Hedera Park |
22/1(+12%) | (8) Hedera Park 22/1, Fair form shown in bumpers for Oliver Signy at the end of 2022 and not disgraced after 5 months off for his new stable when sixth at Ludlow 68 days ago. Respected now going hurdling. Showed enough promise in bumpers to give her each-way claims if she jumps soundly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (40/1 -186%) Petit Bijou |
40/1(-186%) | (10) Petit Bijou 40/1, Modest form when fourth in bumpers on all 3 outings in 2022. Goes hurdling after 8 months off with more required. Fourth in all three bumpers last year but needs improvement to feature on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (28/1 +0%) Wot You Wearing |
28/1(+0%) | (7) Wot You Wearing 28/1, Fair in bumpers but performed well below that level in novice hurdles at Hereford and Ludlow last October. Lots more is needed after 8 months off here. Made the frame in all four bumpers last year but made low-key start to hurdling career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (11) (28/1 -40%) Queen Of Hindsight |
28/1(-40%) | (11) Queen Of Hindsight 28/1, Fair form shown in a pair of bumpers, sixth of 9 at Bangor (16.7f, good) 57 days ago. No forlorn hope now starting out over hurdles for good yard. Showed some ability in her two bumpers but Trick Of The Tail is the stable's main hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (4) (50/1 -52%) Mop's A Legend |
50/1(-52%) | (4) Mop's A Legend 50/1, 150/1, hinted at promise when fourth of 7 in novice hurdle at Market Rasen (18.6f, good) on his hurdles bow 37 days ago. May do better so he's not totally discounted for minor honours. Beaten about 38l when 150-1 for last month's hurdle debut at Market Rasen. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
There were plenty of positives to be taken from THE GALAHAD KID's reappearance second on his hurdling debut at Southwell, and the Fergal O'Brien-trained gelding is fancied to go one place better here. Trick Of The Tail displayed signs of inexperience when fourth over C&D earlier in the month and isn't taken lightly with first-time cheekpieces fitted. Climbing boasts a good jumping pedigree and may fare better now tackling obstacles for the first time.
THE GALAHAD KID made a promising start in this sphere when runner-up at Southwell and looks to hold strong claims of adding to his two bumper successes with more to come. Donald McCain's duo Trick of The Tail and Queen of Hindsight appeal most of the remainder and can chase home Fergal O'Brien's son of Quest For Peace in that order.
The Galahad Kid certainly didn't run badly on his hurdling debut but may find TRICK OF THE TAIL too good.

1st (7) (4.5/1 +25%) Aliomaana |
4.5/1(+25%) | (7) Aliomaana 4.5/1, Got back on track in a refitted hood after 4 months off when landing C&D mares' handicap in October. Disappointed later that month but back on track returning from 6 months off when third at Newton Abbot (16.7f) last month. In the mix with a repeat. C&D winner in October and made quite pleasing reappearance last month; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (3.5/1 +0%) Enthused |
3.5/1(+0%) | (8) Enthused 3.5/1, Off the mark over hurdles at Huntingdon (19.6f) in May and continued in good heart subsequently, having no trouble with the drop back in trip when edged out close home at Newton Abbot (16.7f) 3 weeks ago. This a deeper affair but he's of interest nevertheless with Harry Cobden booked. In good form this season (including a win in May) and a likely contender again here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +23%) Hurricane Ali |
5/1(+23%) | (2) Hurricane Ali 5/1, All the better for his reappearance in the Swinton Hurdle when hitting the frame in handicaps at Warwick/Aintree. Early mistake did him no favours at Cartmel (17.2f) 2 weeks ago and no surprise to see him quickly back to form. Placed twice on good ground this spring but below form on good to soft recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (18/1 -100%) Byzantine Empire |
18/1(-100%) | (4) Byzantine Empire 18/1, Largely consistent hurdler who landed pair of small field handicap chase events (at around 2m) last summer. Progress stalled in that sphere thereafter but he's entitled to come forward from his reappearance run on the Flat 13 days ago. Dual chase winner last summer; probably on a workable mark for today's hurdling return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (11/1 -83%) Painless Potter |
11/1(-83%) | (9) Painless Potter 11/1, Flat winner last summer who arrives here in good heart, second in 9-runner Worcester maiden hurdle (2m) 18 days ago. Remains low-mileage in this sphere and he's not out of things with the return to handicaps rating a plus. Second in two run-of-the-mill maidens last month but has a lot more on his plate here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (8.5/1 -42%) Jamacho |
8.5/1(-42%) | (5) Jamacho 8.5/1, 4-time C&D winner who added to his tally over fences at Uttoxeter (2m) in October. Strictly operating below best in 2 starts over hurdles so far this season but return to this venue from an easing mark an obvious plus. Better showing anticipated. Tongue tie on 1st time. Well beaten on latest outing but is back on same mark as when winning this race in 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (5.5/1 -22%) Oakley |
5.5/1(-22%) | (1) Oakley 5.5/1, Off the mark for present stable over C&D in spring 2022. Seen only 3 times subsequently, running respectably granted the run of the race when third at Cheltenham (16.8f) in December. No forlorn hope back from 7 months off. C&D winner last year and creditable third at Cheltenham in December; could be big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (5/1 +23%) Finest View |
5/1(+23%) | (3) Finest View 5/1, Won 4 on the bounce for Alan King last spring and best effort for present yard when third at Taunton (16.5f) in February. Disappointed next 2 starts though and looked set for a minor role when falling late on at Warwick (2m) in May. Signalled return to form before late fall in May; still on good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (125/1 -468%) Still Standing |
125/1(-468%) | (6) Still Standing 125/1, Useful Flat performer in his prime who opened account over hurdles in autumn 2021. However, it's all been rather low key since, including in 2 spins on the level for present connections. Safely held on both Flat starts for new stable; back hurdling with a lot to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Four-time C&D winner Jamacho is always dangerous to discount at this venue and he shouldn't be underestimated racing off the same mark as when tasting victory in last year's renewal. Preference, however, is for OAKLEY, who is only 1lb higher than for his success here in March last year and he has been sparingly raced since. Finest View was still in contention when falling at the last at Warwick and is another to consider if none the worse for that spill.
Multiple C&D winner JAMACHO needs to shrug off a couple of lesser efforts since returning this term but he's been afforded a chance by the assessor and he could just be worth siding with returned to this venue/equipped with a first-time tongue tie. Enthused is going through a good spell and can figure, with Hurricane Ali another live player under Brian Hughes.
Topweight OAKLEY (nap) has fitness to prove but the form of his Cheltenham third in December reads well and rain won't bother him.

1st (3) (4/1 +56%) Arcade Attraction |
4/1(+56%) | (3) Arcade Attraction 4/1, Poor initially last season but returned to form when scoring in first-time cheekpieces at Fontwell (19.5f) in February. That very much a standout last season, finishing well held in his follow-up bid 6 weeks later at Hereford and has since switched yards. Made all in first-time cheekpieces in February but quickly back in the doldrums next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 -67%) Atlantic Storm |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Atlantic Storm 10/1, Hit the target off a 15 lb higher mark at Southwell last June but more miss than hit since. Faced a stiff task from 3 lb out of the handicap at Stratford (17f, good to soft) recently and could well make a splash back in Class 5 company. Not the force of old but runs this track well and competes off career-low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3.33/1 -11%) If I Say |
3.33/1(-11%) | (6) If I Say 3.33/1, Off the mark in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f) in September and offered a good deal more than on her chasing debut when runner-up at back at Worcester last month, showing the benefit of her reappearance. Could well have more to offer, so may well go one better. Chase home a much improved rival at Worcester last month, her second start over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +44%) Moans Cross |
10/1(+44%) | (4) Moans Cross 10/1, Standout effort in 2021/22 when landing 4-runner Fontwell handicap (21.6f). Respectable third at Newton Abbot on reappearance in June last year but struggled to match that on all 4 outings since. Best watched with the equipment discarded after 9 months off the track. Not seen since three below-par runs last September/October; others are much less risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (9/1 +25%) Ocean's Of Money |
9/1(+25%) | (9) Ocean's Of Money 9/1, Showed some ability in a pair of maiden hurdles for Miss Elizabeth Doyle in March 2021. Didn't show much over hurdles for current yard, but some encouragement on chasing debut when third of 6 at Ffos Las in April. Not so good since at Worcester however but can bounce back. Made fairly encouraging chase debut in April but well held since; not the obvious answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (6.5/1 -18%) Gouet Des Bruyeres |
6.5/1(-18%) | (1) Gouet Des Bruyeres 6.5/1, Three-time winner over fences, the latest at Southwell (2m) in September. Has continued in good nick, and his latest effort is excused after enduring equipment problems. Should go well again off an easing mark. Back from break with two good efforts in May and had excuses when below form last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (20/1 +0%) Dont Be Robin |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Dont Be Robin 20/1, Scored off 5 lb higher at Plumpton last season but typically in-and-out after and well held on both outings so far in 2023. Makes return from over 5 months off and likely to need this. Off since two underwhelming runs at start of this year; others have much less to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (4/1 -78%) Jet Of Dreams |
4/1(-78%) | (2) Jet Of Dreams 4/1, Won his only start in points easily and has showed promise in 4 starts over hurdles. Offered something to work on sent chasing on handicap debut when runner-up at Southwell (15.8f, good to firm) just under 3 weeks ago and fancied to take a step forward. No match for winner when second on chase/handicap debut but remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (12/1 +45%) Mawlood |
12/1(+45%) | (10) Mawlood 12/1, Losing run stretches back over 2 years and beaten a fair way on all 4 outing this season after a breathing operation. More severe headgear enlisted and the tongue tie goes back on, but easy enough to look elsewhere once again. Well held when fourth at Southwell a fortnight ago and remains without a win since 2021. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
JET OF DREAMS shaped with promise on his fencing bow over 2m at Southwell last month. He kept on well enough to suggest a step up in trip could suit and, with improvement likely, Warren Greatrex's charge can go one better. If I Say showed some promise when a well-held second at Worcester last month and has scope for improvement after only two chase starts, while Atlantic Storm appeals most of the remainder.
JET OF DREAMS offered plenty to work on sent chasing when finishing runner-up at Southwell just less than 3 weeks ago and with improvement on the cards, Warren Greatrex's 5-y-o is fancied to go one better with a fully-fledged rider taking over. If I Say showed the benefit of her reappearance at Worcester recently so she's put forward as the main threat, with Atlantic Storm and Gouet des Bruyeres others fancied to go well.
Preference is for GOUET DES BRUYERES, who was placed twice off a 2lb higher mark in May and can be forgiven last month's lesser effort.

1st (5) (4/1 -20%) Steel Wave |
4/1(-20%) | (5) Steel Wave 4/1, Unreliable type. C&D winner in May and ran creditably when third in 5-runner C&D event (good to soft) 26 days ago. Can give another good account. 13yo who runs this track well, including two of last three starts; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3.33/1 -48%) Hunting Percival |
3.33/1(-48%) | (1) Hunting Percival 3.33/1, Seemed to relish the step up in trip when winning 7-runner handicap hurdle at this course (22f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Little show on chase debut for this yard in May but certainly appeals as worth another chance. 2nd and Stratford winner on two of last three starts, as a hurdler; pulled up in a chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (5.5/1 +61%) Conceal |
5.5/1(+61%) | (7) Conceal 5.5/1, Sent off 50/1 when scoring over fences on second start for this yard at Uttoxeter in October. Pulled up in handicap chase at this course (19.4f, soft) 84 days ago, though, so bounce back is required. No worthwhile form on last three starts, failing to show much here in April on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (3.5/1 +0%) Rostello |
3.5/1(+0%) | (4) Rostello 3.5/1, Won over C&D last summer before gaining her second win of the season at Southwell in March. Regular jumping problems temper enthusiasm though, again clumsy over hurdles at Uttoxeter last time. Inconsistent but won this last year and scored easily again at Southwell this March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (6.5/1 -30%) Ecossais |
6.5/1(-30%) | (2) Ecossais 6.5/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. Patchy recent record, below form when fourth of 8 in handicap chase at Worcester (23f, good, 17/2) 31 days ago. Slipped back to reasonable mark and has since undergone another breathing operation. No win since March 2021; the odd place in that period and wind surgery since latest start. |

7/1(+22%) | (3) Dan's Chosen 7/1, Held form well for a couple of starts after winning at Fakenham in October but now has a bit to prove after a pair of very poor efforts. Fell three starts back and looked badly out of sorts on both since;. |

|PU| (6) (12/1 -20%) Hitthekettle |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Hitthekettle 12/1, Took 7 tries to win an Irish point and has shown very little in 4 starts to date over hurdles. Tricky to fancy on chase debut. 1-7 in Irish points; four runs over hurdles since, last of 11 on handicap debut last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A winner over course and distance off this mark in May, prior to a couple of third-place finishes, it might be worth siding with the largely consistent veteran STEEL WAVE. Hunting Percival was pulled up in that same contest, but he could fare better following a confidence-boosting success over timber. Last year's winner Rostello must enter the reckoning, while Ecossais is noted on his first start post-wind surgery.
HUNTING PERCIVAL showed very little on chase debut earlier in the year but there was no fluke about his success over hurdles here last week and he's given another chance over fences in a race which shouldn't take much winning. Steel Wave has a positive recent C&D record and looks the main danger, with Conceal just about the pick of the rest.
The two most appealing propositions are last year's winner ROSTELLO and the veteran Steel Wave.
Ths is the racecard key.
