17:05 Stratford Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

POLLING DAY shaped with more promise than the bare form suggests on his hurdling debut at Fakenham earlier this month, racing keenly up with the pace before coming to grief two from home. With that outing under his belt, he gets the vote to open his account. The unexposed Green Machine may prove a shrewd acquisition for the Fergal O'Brien team and he warrants respect on his hurdling bow, while Cusano is also considered.

CUSANO has been a little underwhelming so far over hurdles, but it shouldn't be assumed he's shown all he can based on his fairly useful Flat form, so he's worth another chance in a weak maiden. Polling Day exited just as things were taking shape on his hurdling bow at Fakenham and retains potential, with Calshot Spit and Green Machine others to consider.

Cusano should be involved but BALTIC VOYAGE has potential as he ran in a better race last time and has had wind surgery since.

17:40 Stratford Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

PADDYS ISLAND showed up well for a long way before fading into fourth late on over an extended 2m2f here recently but, stepping back in trip, Robbie Llewellyn's unexposed five-year-old gets the nod to show his rivals the way home. A Day To Dream was last seen finishing an excellent second over 2m at Fakenham, and a repeat of that effort should see him there or thereabouts once again. Reach For The Moon also enters calculations.

REACH FOR THE MOON shaped as if needing the run for both fitness and experience when fourth at Worcester last month and there's surely better still to come given his high achievements on the Flat, so he makes most appeal. A Day To Dream and Hot Fizzy Lizzy are feared most.

The pick is PADDYS ISLAND, who shaped with considerable promise when fourth over 2m2f here on his recent rules debut.

18:10 Stratford Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ELLERTON responded well to the application of a visor when finishing second behind an in-form rival over 2m1f at Newton Abbot latest, and a repeat of that effort might be enough to see him go one place better this time. Ned Cash made a promising start to life in handicaps when finishing third over shorter here last month, and another prominent showing is expected off an unchanged mark. Amalfi Bay is noted too.

A tightly-knit handicap in which ELLERTON is taken to build on his very good Newton Abbot second and get back to winning ways. Ned Cash heads the list of dangers on the back of his good recent third here with Bob O Rhino, Amalfi Bay and Fashionelle also in the picture.

Preference is for NED CASH (nap), who made up considerable ground on the final circuit when third over 2m here on his handicap debut.

18:40 Stratford Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A maiden hurdle winner last autumn, ON SE CALME returned to action with decent fourth at Uttoxeter on only her second start handicapping. Alan King's mare has plenty of scope for further progress and gets the vote on this occasion. Sarsen ran well for a long way when third at Fontwell in first-time blinkers and looks likely to be thereabouts at the finish, while the veteran Admiral's Sunset could also go well.

ON SE CALME was far from disgraced but ultimately shaped as if she'd come on for the run after 7 months off when fourth at Uttoxeter 26 days ago and Alan King's mare could well be the answer here. Sarsen, Coilrock, stepping back in trip, and Platenium are others to consider.

Alan King's mare ON SE CALME returned from a break with a good effort last month and is not yet fully exposed.

19:10 Stratford Handicap Chase (Class 3) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MATTERHORN has won both starts over the larger obstacles in good style, and Paul Nicholls' gelding is difficult to oppose raised only 4lb. He had Parc d'Amour back in third when successful at Worcester last time and finished well clear of the runner-up Gower Prince when scoring at Ludlow before that. The latter pair will do well to reverse the placings, despite the more favourable terms, with Kim Bailey's charge looking the most likely danger.

MATTERHORN might have beaten just 4 rivals in total to win both his starts over fences but he's looked a natural in this sphere and this looks another good opportunity. Parc d'Amour has also made a positive start over fences and is the obvious threat.

Parc d'Amour has more to offer over fences but is not straightforward and MATTERHORN may dominate from the front again.

(7) Art Approval 28/1, Fairly useful form over hurdles and fences for Fergal O'Brien and, though winless since November 2021, his latest third in a 9-runner Worcester (23f, good to soft) handicap hurdle was much his best since joining this yard. Trip/ground fine and needs considering off this career-low mark.
Not the force of old and has not won since 2021; each-way claims though..

Came good at the third time of asking in handicaps, upped to 3m; chance off the 6lb rise..

Unexposed at the trip but the 22lb rise for his recent novice second poses a big question..

19:40 Stratford Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 22f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

HICONIC wasn't beaten far in second when upped to 2m4f at Worcester on her latest start. This extra test of stamina should play to her strengths, and she can go one better. Westbrook Lad also found only one too good at Uttoxeter in novice company, but a hike in the weights makes life more difficult, while Ballyvaughan Bay has been raised 6lb for winning a lower grade contest at Southwell. Art Approval is preferred of the remainder.

ROYAL PRETENDER's losing run is admittedly mounting up but there were positives to glean from his latest effort at Uttoxeter and he could be worth chancing in this open-looking contest. If able to build on last month's breakthrough success at Southwell, Ballyvaughan Bay will be a serious threat, while Art Approval also offered signs of encouragement last time and Obsessedwithyou is interesting now faced with a stiffer test.

Last-time-out winner Ballyvaughan Bay is not passed over lightly but HICONIC ran a big race in defeat last time and gets the vote.

20:10 Stratford Handicap Chase (Class 4) 19f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

NIBRAS GOLD was returning from a break when a close runner-up on his chase debut at Ffos Las at the end of May and has a major chance of going one better, espcially over this suitable longer trip. Previous C&D winner Chess Player has a lot going for on these terms and may pick up the pieces if the selection underperforms, although support in the betting for chasing debutant Walkingoneggshells would also be noteworthy.

NIBRAS GOLD made an encouraging start over fences at Ffos Las in May and looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark in this sphere. Chess Player and Cheltenam de Vaige look the likeliest dangers.

The most solid option looks to be NIBRAS GOLD after his close second on chase debut when back from a seven-month absence.

20:40 Stratford NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Ronnies Rules, Kingston Bresil and Peace In The Park are interesting recruits from the point-to-point scene, while Shadowfax Of Rohan can improve after a fourth-placed finish in a Worcester bumper last month. However, it is very possible that the Flat-bred DESERT GUEST will be too speedy for his rivals and the son of Teofilo is suggested as the first to consider in race where the betting market will be a good source of clues.

RONNIES RULES has been picked up by a top yard since landing an Irish point and he makes most appeal bidding to follow up on bumper debut. Desert Guest's pedigree makes him one to note and Shadowfax of Rohan can probably step forward from his first effort.

The most interesting runner is arguably RONNIES RULES, who has joined Dan Skelton since his good-ground Irish point win in May.
