1st (5) (15/8 +16%) Juan Bermudez |
15/8(+16%) | (5) Juan Bermudez 15/8, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat for Andrew Balding, stays 2m. Yet to match that form over hurdles but ran his best race when second of 14 at Huntingdon (20.7f) 23 days ago and has to be considered a big player. 2m Flat winner and latest second was over 2m4f; shorter trip has to be a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (14/1 +30%) Call To Duty |
14/1(+30%) | (4) Call To Duty 14/1, Out of a winning hurdler and showed promise on the first of 2 starts in bumpers but dropped away tamely on second start over hurdles at Wincanton last time. Up in trip. Has regressed since finishing third to a good horse on bumper debut at Taunton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 +11%) Winterwatch |
2/1(+11%) | (1) Winterwatch 2/1, Three-time winner on the Flat who finally got off the mark over hurdles in first-time cheekpieces in 10-runner handicap at Newton Abbot (18.5f) 12 days ago, impressively. Could be up to defying a penalty. Comfortable winner of a 2m2f Newton Abbot handicap last week; strong form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (28/1 -100%) Moon Lady |
28/1(-100%) | (7) Moon Lady 28/1, Green in a trio of bumpers and made a discouraging start over hurdles at Market Rasen 10 months ago. Has left Nicky Henderson. 0-4 for Nicky Henderson; recent winner of a 3m point; sharper test is offputting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (80/1 -142%) Flighttothestars |
80/1(-142%) | (9) Flighttothestars 80/1, Showed something on debut but failed to back it up at Newbury was too free in a first-time tongue strap after 5 months off here 13 days ago. Hurdle bow. Not disgraced in two bumpers here on either side of a no-show at Newbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (20/1 -25%) Roseburg |
20/1(-25%) | (8) Roseburg 20/1, Successful on the second of 2 starts in points but comfortably held on only start in bumpers and went with no encouragement sent hurdling at Ludlow in February. Has left Tracey Barfoot-Saunt. 100-1 when pulled up at Ludlow but interesting that she's joined such a respected yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (80/1 -60%) Scalloway Castle |
80/1(-60%) | (6) Scalloway Castle 80/1, No promise in 2 bumpers but hinted at ability in a first-time tongue strap when down the field in a Southwell maiden 18 days ago, having hopeless task from position. No worthwhile form in four starts, the latest on stable debut following wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (4/1 -45%) Wales |
4/1(-45%) | (2) Wales 4/1, Useful on Flat (stays 1¾m), winner twice in Germany in 2023. Left Andreas Wohler €40,000 (privately) in November and made a winning start over hurdles in an 11-runner maiden at this course (16.3f) 23 days ago, bit in hand. That was a weak race but he's surely capable of better. Useful on the Flat in Germany and won here last month despite pulling hard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (10/1 +75%) Baskerville |
10/1(+75%) | (3) Baskerville 10/1, Fair form when runner-up on the first of 2 starts in bumpers but ran below that level sent hurdling at Taunton in December and off since. Front two came clear when second in a bumper here in August but hasn't shone since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (200/1 -700%) Habibi |
200/1(-700%) | (10) Habibi 200/1, Made a promising debut in a Newbury bumper in December but well below that level both outings since. Makes hurdles debut. First run for yard after leaving Nigel Twiston-Davies. Final run for Nigel Twiston-Davies was underwhelming and has moved yards. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Winterwatch proved a revelation when opening his hurdling account at the 12th attempt at Newton Abbot recently but he may now prove vulnerable under a penalty, a comment which could also be applied to the four-year-old Wales, who landed a weak maiden event on his first hurdling start over slightly shorter on this track. Preference is for Dan Skelton's JUAN BERMUDEZ, a former winner on the Flat for Andrew Balding who took a clear leap forward when runner-up at Huntingdon last time out.
It took a while for WINTERWATCH to open his hurdle account, but he did so in impressive fashion at Newton Abbot 12 days ago and could be up to defying a penalty on that evidence. Juan Bermudez and Wales are the obvious threats.
Winterwatch and Juan Bermudez are dangers but WALES was useful on the Flat and made a winning jumps debut here.

1st (5) (13/2 +7%) Six And Out |
13/2(+7%) | (5) Six And Out 13/2, Fairly useful form shown in bumpers. Has yet to match that in this sphere, but ran his best race when fifth of 14 in a 19f Warwick maiden in April and holds solid each-way claims. Vulnerable to anything progressive but on best form he's unlikely to be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8/11 +64%) Stay If U Want To |
8/11(+64%) | (1) Stay If U Want To 8/11, Fairly useful bumper winner who opened his account over hurdles with something to spare in 10-runner maiden at Hereford (16.2f) 25 days ago. Penalised for his Hereford win but that was easy and it sets the standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (11/2 +21%) Value Added |
11/2(+21%) | (10) Value Added 11/2, Fairly useful performer at up to 1¼m on the Flat who showed some aptitude for hurdling when fifth of 12 in a 2m course maiden in April. Should improve. Flat winner; 5th here on hurdling debut and the form has worked out quite well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/1 -33%) Minella Miracle |
4/1(-33%) | (2) Minella Miracle 4/1, Modest in bumpers for Thomas Gallagher and ran to a similar level sent hurdling for new yard when third of 11 in a maiden at this course (16.3f, good, evens) 23 days ago. Should improve. Beaten fav here 23 days ago but today's extra 2f should be in his favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (125/1 -25%) Newton |
125/1(-25%) | (4) Newton 125/1, Well held in 2 bumpers for Olly Murphy and a course maiden hurdle for new yard. 200-1 for recent hurdle/stable debut and was beaten about 20l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (66/1 -65%) Ned Cash |
66/1(-65%) | (3) Ned Cash 66/1, Some promise in bumpers but had made a discouraging start to his career over hurdles. Too keen over hurdles (with and without headgear) and not shown much at all. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|R| (8) (25/1 -257%) Woolberry |
25/1(-257%) | (8) Woolberry 25/1, Out of a bumper winner and finished placed herself in that sphere in October. Found listed company all too much at Doncaster but this a more realistic assignment now hurdling. Final bumper run wasn't her best but plenty of promise prior to that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (66/1 -450%) Jazzmina Queen |
66/1(-450%) | (7) Jazzmina Queen 66/1, Looked one for later on when well held in a Fakenham bumper on debut 61 days ago. Weak in the market for a newcomer from this yard when last to finish in a Fakenham bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (100/1 -100%) Rocky Breese |
100/1(-100%) | (6) Rocky Breese 100/1, Saddler's Rock gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Thegaygardener, stayed 2½m, and modest hurdler Billy Blade. Unplaced both starts in points (latest Apr 20). Wears hood for Rules debut. Beaten 21l and 16l in two point bumpers since March; couldn't make a solid case. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (150/1 -127%) Charlotte Square |
150/1(-127%) | (9) Charlotte Square 150/1, Down the field in varied events on Flat. Tongue tied for hurdle debut and easily passed over. Poor form in four runs for Andrew Balding (1m1f-1m4f) and was sold on for £1,500. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Bumper winner STAY IF U WANT TO has taken well to hurdling and deservedly ran out a clear-cut winner on his third attempt at Hereford. There should be a fair bit more to come from the five-year-old and a penalty may not be enough to anchor him in this company, although Minella Miracle was sent off at even-money when third on his recent return here and should appreciate this slightly longer trip. Hurdling debutant Woolberry looks the most interesting of the remainder after some fair bumper efforts.
STAY IF U WANT TO opened his hurdling account with something to spare at Hereford last month and is selected to defy a penalty. Value Added and Minella Miracle both seem likely to improve on their opening efforts in this sphere and head the dangers.
Stay If U Want To could follow up from Hereford but he does have a penalty and preference is for MINELLA MIRACLE.

1st (3) (3/1 +63%) Rotten Row |
3/1(+63%) | (3) Rotten Row 3/1, Ex-Irish gelding showed a bit more encouragement than previously for this yard when fifth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Kempton. Not seen to best effect at Bangor since and not taken lightly off reduced mark back over fences. Respected on old Irish form but reservations for now after AW/hurdle runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (4/1 +71%) Begin The Luck |
4/1(+71%) | (7) Begin The Luck 4/1, Prolific chaser for Brian Barr, including when winning this race last year off 2 lb higher, but has shown nothing to date for current stable so plenty to prove. He's not in the same form as when taking this race 12 months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (16/1 -256%) Fazayte |
16/1(-256%) | (4) Fazayte 16/1, Made a winning return to jumping in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen in September and followed up in a chase at Sedgefield (19f, heavy) 7 weeks later. Unseated 4 out over fences at Southwell since (in trouble at the time) and arrives on the back of 2 poor efforts on the Flat. Bit to prove. Two tailed-off runs on the Flat since April cast some doubts over his wellbeing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (20/1 +0%) You Say Nothing |
20/1(+0%) | (6) You Say Nothing 20/1, Scored at Ffos Las (2m) over a year ago off 5 lb higher but arrives on the back of 4 poor runs, so leap of faith required. Hasn't fired on his last four starts and mistakes have crept into his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (4/1 -14%) Kankin |
4/1(-14%) | (8) Kankin 4/1, Scored on chase debut at Huntingdon (19.8f) in October and finally back to winning ways at Fakenham last month, albeit all out against a rival who was out of the handicap. Opposable up 2 lb in better race. Dug deep to prevail at Fakenham; obvious contender off 2lb higher if holding his form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (6/1 -80%) Voice Of Calm |
6/1(-80%) | (1) Voice Of Calm 6/1, In good form without winning but was a close third off this mark at Ludlow 3 weeks ago so she's a player. Has only won a match over fences but it was a very solid run in defeat at Ludlow latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (13/2 +19%) Fat Sam |
13/2(+19%) | (2) Fat Sam 13/2, Took a heavy fall over fences at Newton Abbot last summer and was perhaps still feeling those effects when down the field both starts in the autumn. Presumably had a pipe-opener after 7 months off in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, good) 23 days ago and better expected now off a tempting mark. Hasn't really got anything going since falling over fences last summer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (9/1 +36%) Nimbus Boy |
9/1(+36%) | (9) Nimbus Boy 9/1, Switch to handicap company/addition of a tongue tie did the trick at Hereford where he opened his hurdles account in January. However, has followed that with a series of lesser efforts, including when well held on chase bow. Out of form over hurdles before suffering another heavy defeat on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (50/1 -317%) Storm Of Light |
50/1(-317%) | (5) Storm Of Light 50/1, Uttoxeter novice hurdle winner in November 2011 and ran at least respectably in handicaps since. However, has been off for over 2 years (sold cheaply from Olly Murphy) so best watched on chase bow. Consistent, lightly raced hurdler; long absence to overcome for new yard on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Fazayte has won his last three completed chase starts and has to enter the equation despite a couple of lifeless recent Flat efforts, as does Kankin, who has only gone up 2lb for scrambling to victory at Fakenham. Preference, however, is for VOICE OF CALM, with the Emma Lavelle yard going well, and the eight-year-old came close to fending off some better rivals in a stronger contest at Ludlow three weeks ago.
FAT SAM has been a prolific winner at this time of year in the past and has been given a big chance by BHA handicapper here after a comeback spin over hurdles. Rotten Row is another who's potentially well treated back over fences, while Voice of Calm was a close third off this mark at Ludlow 3 weeks ago.
Although she's won only a match over fences, VOICE OF CALM has a lot going for her after running so well at Ludlow.

Tommie Beau |
(1) (3/1 -20%)3/1(-20%) | (1) Tommie Beau 3/1, Multiple winner over fences last term who capitalised on drop in grade over fences at Cartmel (25.5f) 7 days ago and made light of a 2-day turnaround from lower mark over hurdles there on Monday. Respected again in hat-trick bid under a penalty. Back-to-back wins at Cartmel last week; tougher task at these weights but likeable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (7) (13/8 +46%) Porter In The Park |
13/8(+46%) | (7) Porter In The Park 13/8, Edged ahead late on to double hurdles tally at Ludlow (23.8f) in April and did well to finish as close as she did following a late blunder when runner-up at Market Rasen (23f) 3 weeks ago. Nudged up 2 lb but very much of interest again in this form. Has done well since back over hurdles but watch the weather as good ground is key. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (16/5 +29%) Secret Trix |
16/5(+29%) | (3) Secret Trix 16/5, Thrived with cheekpieces fitted, gaining his fourth success of the campaign (with tongue tie added) in class 2 Haydock handicap in March. Solid fourth from career-high mark at Perth 37 days ago and he should continue in form. Hard to knock, other than that the handicapper may now have his number. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (14/1 -115%) Wbee |
14/1(-115%) | (2) Wbee 14/1, Thrived in 2021 and 2022, picking up 6 wins (3 over C&D) but has since been absent for 21 months. Would be of interest if fully tuned up, so well worth noting if market vibes are positive. Has won six of his last nine races but he's been a long time absent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/2 +75%) Judicial Law |
5/2(+75%) | (4) Judicial Law 5/2, Added to his tally in first-time cheekpieces at Kelso in September before finishing runner-up in a deeper handicap at Cheltenham. Below best in pair of handicaps at Haydock (24.2f) in recent months, albeit a serious early error not helping his cause latest. Below par of late but last season's peaks (3m2f/3m) bring him right into it off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/1 +56%) Lunar Power |
11/1(+56%) | (5) Lunar Power 11/1, Won a handicap hurdle for Noel Meade last May but struggled to make an impact in handful of starts for present yard over hurdles thereafter. Never figured back on the Flat 5 weeks ago and others arrive with much more pressing claims. Interesting on Irish form but hasn't achieved much at all since crossing the water. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (18/1 -177%) Butler's Brief |
18/1(-177%) | (6) Butler's Brief 18/1, Got back on the scoreboard at Kelso in November, finding plenty under pressure. Not in same form at Bangor/Doncaster the following month and possible this first start for 155 days will bring him on. Rain would aid his chance but even then he comes with an element of risk. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Tommie Beau supplemented his easy success over fences at Cartmel last week when following up over hurdles at the same venue just two days later. However, Seamus Mullins' charge is effectively 9lb higher in the ratings, which could be enough to thwart his hat-trick bid. SECRET TRIX wasn't beaten far into fourth on soft ground at Perth in April and a return to a sounder surface here could help the seven-year-old back into the winner's enclosure. Porter In The Park is also noted.
Having resumed winning ways at Ludlow on her penultimate start, PORTER IN THE PARK again ran well when second at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago, doing well to finish as close as she did following a late blunder. She earns the vote to prove her mark still workable. Secret Trix and the thriving Tommie Beau head the dangers with Wbee demanding a market check on his belated return to action (former 3-time C&D winner).
The admirable TOMMIE BEAU faces no easy task at these weights but he'll give it his best shot. He can make it three wins within a week.

1st (1) (7/2 +30%) Hidden Heroics |
7/2(+30%) | (1) Hidden Heroics 7/2, Resumed winning ways in staying handicap chase at Ludlow in December but has struggled since, well held at Cheltenham latest. Easing back down the handicap at least. Beneath his best of late but he's on a good mark if getting back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/1 +7%) Broken Quest |
7/1(+7%) | (2) Broken Quest 7/1, Won 3 on the bounce during spring 2022 but failed to fire in 2 runs last season after 13 months off. However, step back in the right direction when third at Aintree 2 weeks ago so not taken lightly down in class. Showed he was no back number with an 11l third at Aintree two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (5/1 +33%) Bbold |
5/1(+33%) | (10) Bbold 5/1, Dual course winner who is a fair chaser nowadays and his latest Southwell third confirms he still has something to offer. However, likely to find a few too good in this class of handicap. Not as good as he was but doesn't arrive here in bad form and has each-way hopes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (11/2 -83%) Trincomalee |
11/2(-83%) | (7) Trincomalee 11/2, Useful hurdler/chaser at his best but off 21 months and failed to match that form last term. However, benefited by the step up in trip when scoring off a reduced mark at Fakenham (29f) last month and respected up 6 lb. Convincing winner of the Norfolk National but he's effectively 13lb higher for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 +43%) Musical Slave |
8/1(+43%) | (5) Musical Slave 8/1, Decent second at Wincanton on return last season but has failed to build on that since and others appeal more. Veteran who has seen better days and he now struggles to find some consistency. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (5/1 +0%) Court Master |
5/1(+0%) | (3) Court Master 5/1, One-time useful chaser for Michael Scudamore and best effort for present yard when fifth of 19 in handicap chase at Cheltenham in October (25f, good to soft). Respectable sixth there on first run since 6 weeks ago and should strip fitter for that. Needs considering back down in class. Strong stayer on a handy mark but he does need the ground to remain good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (33/1 -32%) Judge Earle |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Judge Earle 33/1, Back in the groove when landing handicap chases at Uttoxeter and Worcester (both over 2½m) in July. Ended 2023 in pretty tame fashion fitted in headgear, however, and little encouragement after 7 months off at Hereford 3 weeks ago. Has performed poorly on either side of a break and he's knocking on now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (11/1 +0%) Organdi |
11/1(+0%) | (4) Organdi 11/1, Veteran mare who took advantage of a good opportunity at Fontwell in September. Decent effort after 4 months off when fourth of 16 in handicap chase (66/1) at Cheltenham (28.1f, good) but let down by jumping at Fakenham since. Good fourth at Cheltenham before an excusable defeat at Fakenham; possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (16/1 -14%) Jony Max |
16/1(-14%) | (9) Jony Max 16/1, Put a couple of poor efforts behind him when landing a 6-runner contest from the front at Fakenham (24.2f, soft) in November. Not so good next 2 starts, though off 5 months prior to last run. Capable stayer but hard to predict and has become a bit too risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (28/1 -27%) Magna Sam |
28/1(-27%) | (6) Magna Sam 28/1, Better than ever when making a winning start for this yard at Musselburgh (31.5f) in February 2023 and good fifth in Scottish National at Ayr next time. However, little to shout about both starts last season and well held back from another break at Kempton last month. Current wellbeing an issue but well handicapped on his fine efforts of 2023. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A 2lb drop in the ratings for BROKEN QUEST's third-placed effort at Aintree last month could prove lenient. The veteran only weakened in the closing stages that day and he looks ready to capitalise on a declining mark. Trincomalee is sure to prove popular after his Fakenham victory and Lucy Wadham's charge may serve the most resistance to the selection, although Hidden Heroics is dangerous to discount at this level.
COURT MASTER ran well for a long way after 6 months off when sixth in a better race than this at Cheltenham 6 weeks ago so could be the answer. Fellow veteran Broken Quest is also down in class and is another to consider, while recent Fakenham winner Trincomalee remains unexposed over this sort of trip.
A chance is taken on HIDDEN HEROICS who won off 2lb higher the last time he contested a Class 3 chase just before Christmas.

My Virtue |
(8) (3/1 +10%)3/1(+10%) | (8) My Virtue 3/1, Did offer more encouragement on second handicap start and took a marked step forward back from 5 months off when opening her account under this rider at Southwell (15.8f) in May, value for plenty extra. In good hands and capable of following up. Up 6lb for winning cosily at Southwell (2m, good) but no surprise if there's more to come.. |

Hot Fizzy Lizzy |
(3) (6/1 +0%)6/1(+0%) | (3) Hot Fizzy Lizzy 6/1, Fair bumper winner who has offered definite signs of promise over hurdles and best not judged too harshly on her latest fourth on qualifying run at Warwick (2m) 26 days ago. In excellent hands and she promises to do better now handicapping. One to note. Bumper winner who has run well over C&D; should be better for recent run; likely player.. |

1st (5) (7/2 +75%) Getmetothemoon |
7/2(+75%) | (5) Getmetothemoon 7/2, Has hinted at promise, taking step back in right direction when midfield in 14-runner Taunton handicap (19f, soft) in March. Could have more to offer switched to a sounder surface/back down in trip. Made an encouraging hurdles debut but has been unable to kick on from that.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (11/2 +50%) Northern Rose |
11/2(+50%) | (14) Northern Rose 11/2, 4-y-o filly who kept mistakes to a minimum when third at Southwell (15.8f) on penultimate start. Longer trip may not have suited ideally when ninth at Uttoxeter (20f) 14 days ago and she's not without each-way hope. Never involved over 2m4f latest but 4lb drop and return to 2m should see her competitive.. |

3rd (10) (10/3 +52%) Queen Of Steel |
10/3(+52%) | (10) Queen Of Steel 10/3, Maiden on the Flat and whilst also winless in this sphere, she posted her best effort when second at Exeter (16.7f) in March. Ran well when fourth back on the Flat at Bath (11.6f) 17 days ago and she holds each-way claims back over timber. Best effort latest at Exeter; up 2lb; probable player if acting on less testing ground.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (28/1 -12%) Konigin Isabella |
28/1(-12%) | (4) Konigin Isabella 28/1, Still looking for first success and hard to warm to following a couple of poor efforts in handicaps upon returning this year. Yard also saddle Getmetothemoon. Placed in bumpers; showed ability but plenty to prove based on last two starts.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (17/2 +6%) Cellar Club |
17/2(+6%) | (9) Cellar Club 17/2, Little to shout about in novice/maiden company but did offer hope following a break/wind op when third on handicap debut at Market Rasen (16.5f) 3 weeks ago. untidy 3 out before running on. Remains lightly raced and she may well build on that. Third on handicap debut (2m, good) and if backing that up she's an each-way player.. |

80/1(-21%) | (13) Gladys Eva Jane 80/1, Fair form in bumpers for Peter Bowen (sold £5,000) but little promise over hurdles, struggling when falling late on at Southwell (15.8f) 25 days ago. Tongue strap goes on. Placed in two bumpers but well below that level in all four starts for this trainer.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (16/1 -33%) Sister Julienne |
16/1(-33%) | (7) Sister Julienne 16/1, Displayed ability in bumpers and similar story when second on return/hurdles debut at Hereford (16.2f) in October. Not got near that level either start since but does now get her first crack at handicaps. Betting should guide. Placed in bumpers and over hurdles; below par recently but handy mark for handicap debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (11/2 +39%) Lady Caro |
11/2(+39%) | (2) Lady Caro 11/2, Fair form in bumpers and posted best effort in this sphere when second of 8 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (17.7f) in April. Seemed stretched by longer trip when midfield over 19f there since and this less demanding test promises to suit. Best effort came on penultimate start (2m1f, good); below par latest; each-way player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (15/2 +46%) Energy Two |
15/2(+46%) | (12) Energy Two 15/2, Maiden who ran with credit on occasions last summer, including when fourth at Worcester (2m) 12 months ago. Down the field at that venue in September though, and percentage call to look elsewhere on return from 8 months off. Third in two maiden hurdles; consistent but needs to pull out more to break her duck.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (25/1 -14%) Mrs Kinsella |
25/1(-14%) | (11) Mrs Kinsella 25/1, Long-standing maiden. Made frame a couple of times over hurdles for present yard last summer. Didn't take to chasing thereafter and has fallen to a career-low mark ahead of her return to action. No great surprise to see a better showing. Placed in 3-11 hurdle starts at around 2m4f but not as effective over this trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (28/1 -40%) Luckie Money |
28/1(-40%) | (6) Luckie Money 28/1, Just poor form in 4 starts over hurdles for Donald McCain, pulled up on her handicap bow at Doncaster when last seen 6 months ago. Starts out for a yard amongst the winners but she does need to step up a good deal if she's to feature. Bit to prove on stable debut; unraced on ground slower than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (40/1 -150%) Three Macks |
40/1(-150%) | (1) Three Macks 40/1, Fair maiden on the Flat up to 7f for Andrew Oliver. Runner-up 3 times over hurdles for Charlie Longsdon but absent since being pulled up on yard debut at Newton Abbot (16.7f) last August, losing action. Betting may prove a useful guide on first start for 9 months. Competitive mark for her first start since August and could be involved if she's ready.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A 6lb higher mark for last month's Southwell triumph should leave My Virtue competitive. Mel Rowley's charge isn't taken lightly in her follow-up bid, but handicap debutant HOT FIZZY LIZZY could prove a fly in the ointment. The five-year-old enters this sphere off what looks a fair opening mark, especially when considering her bumper ability, and she edges the vote. Cellar Club and Queen Of Steel also warrant a second look in what appears an open contest.
MY VIRTUE showed much improved form and marked herself down as one to keep onside when opening her account at Southwell 25 days ago and she makes plenty of appeal in her follow-up bid from 6 lb higher. Hot Fizzy Lizzy has all the hallmarks of an improver now handicapping and she's well worth a second a look also. Cellar Club and Mrs Kinsella are a couple of others fancied to be thereabouts.
The suggestion is SISTER JULIENNE, who has shown some aptitude for this discipline and may be well treated on her handicap debut.

1st (6) (13/2 -63%) Isholo Du Vivien |
13/2(-63%) | (6) Isholo Du Vivien 13/2, Point winner who showed promise on 3 of his 4 starts over hurdles and showed aptitude for this job when fourth of 5 in handicap chase at Warwick (16.2f) 26 days ago, that despite losing his place at a vital stage. Promises to do better with that under his belt. Fourth of five on chase debut but in a warm little race and drops back in grade today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (13/2 +59%) Henry Box Brown |
13/2(+59%) | (7) Henry Box Brown 13/2, Opened his account over hurdles in December 2022 but hasn't replicated that level of form since, in the process of running poorly back over fences after 6 months off when falling heavily at Ffos Las 25 days ago. Percentage call is to look elsewhere. His form went the wrong way over hurdles and he's struggled on his two chase starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/1 -175%) Langton Wold |
11/1(-175%) | (3) Langton Wold 11/1, Fair Flat winner who didn't need to improve much to open his account over hurdles at the third attempt in maiden at Sedgefield (16.8f) on Boxing Day. Only fourth on handicap debut at Musselburgh next time. Had a recent spin on the Flat so shouldn't be lacking for fitness on chase bow. Won maiden hurdle at Sedgefield last December and could be involved if taking to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (16/1 -129%) Nevendon |
16/1(-129%) | (5) Nevendon 16/1, A fair 2m hurdle winner who arrives in the back of a good second at Bath on the Flat. Not taken lightly switched to fences for the first time. Poor strike-rate but sole win came over hurdles here; might not be far away on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (5/1 +0%) Jeudidee |
5/1(+0%) | (1) Jeudidee 5/1, Bumper/hurdles winner who wasn't seen to best effect at Warwick on return last month. Worth a second look on chase bow. Bumper and two-time novice hurdle winner who could improve for the switch to chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (Evens +56%) Forget The Way |
Evens(+56%) | (2) Forget The Way Evens, Won a 2m Worcester handicap for Alan King last summer. Back on track when third at Huntingdon on debut for this stable and may find more back over fences and in a first-time tongue strap. Has shown promise over fences and he was a good third over hurdles on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (18/1 -13%) Call Me Rocky |
18/1(-13%) | (4) Call Me Rocky 18/1, Pair of wins for Milton Harris last summer but well held both starts for this yard and not an obvious chasing type. Struggled on final two hurdle runs last year and a revival is required on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FORGET THE WAY made a pleasing start to life with this stable when finishing a creditable third over hurdles at Huntingdon. Fitted with a first-time tongue tie now back over the larger obstacles, it would be no surprise if he was up to the task for the in-form James Owen team. Langton Wold is a fascinating contender on his first start over fences and having shown useful form over hurdles, he is entitled to the utmost respect. Nevendon completes the shortlist running off the same mark as when runner-up over timber at Fakenham recently.
FORGET THE WAY made a positive start for this yard when third back over hurdles at Huntingdon on return and can build on his promising chase bow at the second attempt. He's preferred to Isholo du Vivien, who showed an aptitude for chasing when fourth at Warwick last month. Jeudidee makes most appeal of the chase debutants.
This could go to FORGET THE WAY, who was a good third over hurdles on his stable debut and showed promise over fences last November.

No More No |
(8) (5/1 +9%)5/1(+9%) | (8) No More No 5/1, Left previous form well behind when making a winning handicap debut in a first-time visor over C&D last time and that may not be his limit. Up in trip with a visor on when winning from 12lb out of the weights here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Methusalar |
(11) (10/1 +0%)10/1(+0%) | (11) Methusalar 10/1, Winner at Bangor for Alan King back in 2022 but struggled for present connections over both sets of obstacles in recent months. Becoming well treated. Somebody fancied him at Cartmel on Wednesday to go off favourite but was beaten 15l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (11/8 +69%) Supreme Yeats |
11/8(+69%) | (3) Supreme Yeats 11/8, Has slipped in the weights and shaped with mild encouragement when fifth in a handicap at Wetherby 4 months ago. Potentially well handicapped now and interesting runner on debut for powerful new yard (formerly with L. J. Morgan). Best run for a good while last time and since transferred to Dan Skelton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +44%) Express Surprise |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Express Surprise 9/2, Lightly-raced maiden who posted a respectable seventh of 13 in handicap hurdle (9/2) at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) 49 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Shortlisted. Lightly raced and could be an improver now raised in trip and now tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (16/1 +52%) Floating Rock |
16/1(+52%) | (4) Floating Rock 16/1, Regular winner over the years but yet to fire for current yard. Insufficient promise in two runs following an absence to make the shortlist here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (17/2 -70%) Lost In The Mist |
17/2(-70%) | (1) Lost In The Mist 17/2, 9/2, creditable third of 10 in handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (18.5f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Still lightly raced in this sphere and may do better still. Longer trip is worth a go but he looks vulnerable to something better handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (20/1 -100%) Malina Ocarina |
20/1(-100%) | (6) Malina Ocarina 20/1, Landed a gamble over hurdles at Southwell (20.4f) a year ago but mixed bag since, pulled up on debut over fences here recently. Return to this sphere should help. Three-time hurdle winner; shaped well at Southwell before flopping on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (28/1 -40%) Just Call Me Al |
28/1(-40%) | (12) Just Call Me Al 28/1, Veteran who won 3 times in 2021/22 season. Drawn blank since and was pulled up at Hexham 11 days ago. Plenty to prove. An 11yo who has fallen back into modest mode since his second at Musselburgh in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (5/1 +29%) My Girl Katie |
5/1(+29%) | (7) My Girl Katie 5/1, Remains winless but arrives in reasonable form, fifth at Market Rasen 9 days ago, pressing on a bit sooner than ideal. One to keep in mind. 0-16 under rules but not a million miles away in her last two handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (12/1 -33%) Hollow Ron |
12/1(-33%) | (9) Hollow Ron 12/1, Justified market support in 6-runner handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23f) a year ago. Proved a disappointment subsequently and returns to smaller obstacles back from 7 months off. Worth monitoring in the betting. Tailed off the last twice but well handicapped if a wind operation helps matters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (25/1 -25%) Karakoram |
25/1(-25%) | (10) Karakoram 25/1, Fourteen runs since his last win in 2023 and wasn't at his best when only sixth at Southwell 10 days ago. Others are more persuasive. Well handicapped but has had a lot of racing and become a law unto himself. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (28/1 -133%) Bobalot |
28/1(-133%) | (2) Bobalot 28/1, Resumed winning ways back hurdling in 2¾m course handicap in January. Little to shout about since but is edging back down the weights as a result. On last winning mark (Jan) but out of form since and needs the ground to soften. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
NO MORE NO was sporting a visor for the first time (retained) when scoring comfortably over C&D on his handicap debut and he can defy a 5lb rise to bring up the double. Lost In The Mist finished a creditable third on his handicap bow over an extended 2m2f at Newton Abbot and, stepping up in trip now eased 1lb, a bold bid to go two places better is expected. A return to form for Hollow Ron shouldn't be discounted now making his first start since wind surgery.
SUPREME YEATS is chucked in on his best form and is worth a chance to make a successful start for a top yard after a break. Recent C&D winner No More No is a definite player if the visor has a positive effect again, while Lost In The Mist can't be ruled out on the back of a solid showing at Newton Abbot.
A few are open to a return to form but EXPRESS SURPRISE (nap) looks very interesting now raised in trip for just his second handicap.
Ths is the racecard key.
