Don't Cheddar Tear |
(3) (250/1 +0%)250/1(+0%) | (3) Don't Cheddar Tear 250/1, No impact in bumper/novice hurdles. Hood fitted. Has struggled to get competitive in a bumper and two novice hurdles this year; now hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (11) (11/8 +39%) Villainess |
11/8(+39%) | (11) Villainess 11/8, Runner-up on first of 2 outings in bumpers for Jamie Snowden and filled same spot in a brace of mares' novice hurdles, beaten only ½ length by Sweet Fantasy (won again next time) at Plumpton in January. Bit disappointing on handicap debut upped in trip but this is easier. Slightly disappointing on handicap debut but was second on first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 +29%) Hard As Nails |
5/2(+29%) | (5) Hard As Nails 5/2, Fairly useful dual-bumper winner who shaped encouragingly when third of 7 in novice at Cartmel (17.2f, good to soft, 10/3) on hurdles bow in July, Off 9 months but she's in excellent hands and is open to progress. Dual bumper winner; third in race won by a useful mare on hurdling debut; back from break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (15/2 -7%) Bellbird |
15/2(-7%) | (12) Bellbird 15/2, Fair maiden on Flat in France, stays 15f, placed both starts in 2024. Sold from N. Clement €32,000 in February and now goes hurdling. Fair on the Flat in France (albeit a maiden); with good yard for British hurdling career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (22/1 -83%) Tique |
22/1(-83%) | (10) Tique 22/1, Bumper winner at the fourth attempt at Bangor in May but has managed barely modest form in her 5 hurdles, tending to make mistakes. Won a bumper last spring but has made underwhelming start to hurdling career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (5/1 -11%) Value Added |
5/1(-11%) | (14) Value Added 5/1, Dam half-sister to fairly useful hurdler around 2m Shemdani. Fairly useful on Flat (stays 1¼m), won minor event in 2023, ran poorly final outing Richard for Hughes. Interesting on hurdles debut. Fairly useful over middle distances on the Flat; makes stable/hurdle debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (33/1 -65%) Allegro Forte |
33/1(-65%) | (1) Allegro Forte 33/1, Displayed promise on bumper debut but little to shout about in various company since and she's probably a handicap project. Never dangerous when fifth at Plumpton in January; not the most obvious answer here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (150/1 +0%) Shibuya Song |
150/1(+0%) | (8) Shibuya Song 150/1, Fair Flat winner at peak but only modest in that sphere lately and has failed to take to hurdling so far. Regressed on the Flat last year and failed to complete two novice hurdles in the winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (200/1 -203%) Extra Cover |
200/1(-203%) | (4) Extra Cover 200/1, Jack Hobbs mare who makes plenty of appeal on paper but no impact both starts and one for further down the line when her stamina is drawn out. In rear throughout when 125-1 for recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (300/1 -200%) Darcy's Glance |
300/1(-200%) | (2) Darcy's Glance 300/1, Well held in bumpers. A down-the-field outsider in three bumpers towards end of last year; hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (17/2 -70%) Silent Auction |
17/2(-70%) | (9) Silent Auction 17/2, Out of a bumper winner and steadily progressive form in that sphere, third of 12 at Newcastle in January. Hurdles debut at an ordinary level. Third in AW bumper in January, and form is working out well; considered on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (200/1 -300%) Lune Et Retour |
200/1(-300%) | (6) Lune Et Retour 200/1, From quite a good family but well held both starts in bumpers. With a good stable but showed no significant promise in two bumpers this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (250/1 -400%) Reely Delightful |
250/1(-400%) | (7) Reely Delightful 250/1, Last in bumper/mares maiden hurdle 11 months apart. Struggling from fairly early stage when last of four on hurdling debut at Haydock. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Villainess was pitched into handicap company last time and, even though she could only manage fifth of a mark of 104, she sets the standard back in maiden company. However, the vote goes to HARD AS NAILS, who is a dual bumper winner and showed enough ability when third on her hurdles debut at Cartmel last year to suggest a race of this nature would be within her compass. Hurdling newcomers Bellbird and Value Added would be interesting if the market vibes were positive.
The return to 2m will suit VILLAINESS and he's fancied to get back on track and open his account back at this level. Hard As Nails won't lack for fitness given the yard she represents so she has to be feared, with Flat-recruit Value Added another to note.
The pick is VILLAINESS, who was second on her first two hurdle starts and may find this easier than the recent handicap she contested.

1st (15) (7/2 +50%) R Bernard |
7/2(+50%) | (15) R Bernard 7/2, Poor maiden hurdler/chaser for Sam Allwood. Good effort on yard bow when third of 6 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (24.3f, heavy) 34 days ago so not ruled out with cheekpieces back on. Unable to justify heavy market support on recent stable debut but may yet come good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (33/1 -106%) Prince De Juilley |
33/1(-106%) | (3) Prince De Juilley 33/1, Maiden hurdler who was tried in cheekpieces when pulled up in handicap chase at Ludlow (20f, heavy) 137 days ago, beaten long way out. Back in this sphere with plenty to prove. Chasing has not gone to plan this season and he now reverts to hurdling after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (4/1 +11%) Mac's Legacy |
4/1(+11%) | (6) Mac's Legacy 4/1, 5/1 and blinkered for 1st time, good third of 6 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (20f, heavy) 21 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Cheekpieces back on and one to consider. Placed in two of his first three handicaps (3m1f/2m4f) and could still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 +50%) Hasty Parisian |
8/1(+50%) | (4) Hasty Parisian 8/1, On a long losing run and came in last of 4 in handicap hurdle at Plumpton (25f, soft, 3/1) 48 days ago on his final run for Anthony Charlton. Visored for new yard with lots more required. Not firing on all cylinders in recent months; headgear switched for stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/1 +18%) Fantomas |
9/1(+18%) | (8) Fantomas 9/1, Bagged his first win over hurdles at Hereford in March but turned in a laboured effort when below form third of 8 at Bangor (23.2f, heavy) 29 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Dug deep to open account last month but raced lazily when well-held third on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (100/1 -100%) Floating Rock |
100/1(-100%) | (2) Floating Rock 100/1, Course winner but off 11 months since posting a respectable fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f, soft, 33/1). Needs to hit the ground running. Out of form when last seen last spring and has stamina to prove today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 -100%) The Wise Traveller |
12/1(-100%) | (1) The Wise Traveller 12/1, Arrives on a hat-trick after handicap successes at Huntingdon and Fakenham (23.4f, good, 11/1) 9 days ago. Not taken lightly despite having a 5 lb higher mark to overcome. Well beaten in a chase on stable debut but 2-2 since reverting to hurdling; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (125/1 -400%) Pip Away |
125/1(-400%) | (13) Pip Away 125/1, Lightly-raced maiden who has offered little thus far, thirteenth of 15 in novice hurdle (250/1) at Kempton (16f, good to soft) 36 days ago. Significantly up in trip for his handicap debut. Well beaten in three maidens at around 2m; may fare better in staying handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (50/1 -100%) Karakoram |
50/1(-100%) | (11) Karakoram 50/1, Comes here out of sorts, only eighth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (23.9f, soft) 41 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Five hurdle wins; has slipped to a tempting mark but needs to better his recent efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (15/2 -7%) Diamond Twin |
15/2(-7%) | (5) Diamond Twin 15/2, Good second in 23f handicap hurdle at Market Rasen in November but off since being pulled up there following month. Still has few miles on the clock so is worth another chance. Pulled up last time (breathing issue) but went close on handicap debut two starts ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (7/2 +46%) Johns Dream |
7/2(+46%) | (12) Johns Dream 7/2, Lightly-raced maiden who was much improved on his handicap debut when neck second of 16 to Fantomas at Hereford (25.5f, soft, 18/1) 43 days ago, clear of rest. Merits consideration despite being upped 5 lb. Went down fighting when close/clear second to Fantomas on handicap debut at Hereford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (10/1 -54%) Uno Mas |
10/1(-54%) | (7) Uno Mas 10/1, Unreliable type who got back to winning ways in first-time cheekpieces in 7-runner handicap hurdle at Southwell (20.4f, heavy) 17 days ago. Needs to back it up now up 4 lb. Won off much reduced mark this month and today's trip/ground might well suit him better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (80/1 -220%) Alfie Sharp |
80/1(-220%) | (14) Alfie Sharp 80/1, Well held all 4 starts over hurdles. Tongue strap goes on for his handicap debut with significantly more needed. Struggled in four maiden/novice hurdles (1m7f-2n3f); hiked up in trip for handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The Wise Traveller returned from a 139-day break to successfully record a double by just under a length in this grade at Fakenham recently, and he holds an obvious chance off 5lb higher. However, TWP STORI is the one to side with after his triumph at Fontwell last month. The six-year-old is 7lb higher for that victory, which is unlikely to prevent him from going in again judged on the commanding nature of that performance. Of the remainder, Fantomas makes the most appeal.
Sam Drinkwater's TWP STORI arrives on the up so is fancied to defy a 7 lb rise for his Fontwell victory at the chief expense of in-form maiden Johns Dream. Mel Rowley's new recruit R Bernard and hat-trick seeking The Wise Traveller can both have a say too in a competitive handicap.
12-time hurdle winner UNO MAS emerged from a slump in form at Southwell this month and remains very well handicapped.

1st (2) (5/2 +38%) Finest View |
5/2(+38%) | (2) Finest View 5/2, Won 4 on the bounce for this yard in spring 2022 but not at the same level for Andrew Martin last year. However, her mark has dropped as a result and, after 8 months off, she shaped as if better for the run when mid-field at Newbury last time. Not discounted. 231 days off when quite encouraging at Newbury (14-1) one month ago, having rejoined King. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 -33%) Mighty Moth |
10/3(-33%) | (4) Mighty Moth 10/3, Fair form when placed twice in bumpers and has at least matched that level in this sphere, getting off the mark at the third attempt in a Hereford maiden in February. Scored easily last time and she may do better still as she goes handicapping. More is needed on this handicap debut but she looked promising with Hereford win last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (6/1 +45%) Obsessedwithyou |
6/1(+45%) | (5) Obsessedwithyou 6/1, Won junior events at Wetherby and Hereford last term. However, below that level when a beaten favourite in handicaps on her first 2 starts this season and finished well held in listed company at Taunton on her latest outing. Others more persuasive. Won two juvenile hurdles; has not quite lived up to that, including in three handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 +43%) Greyval |
4/1(+43%) | (1) Greyval 4/1, Dual winner in juvenile hurdles last season, including a listed event at Doncaster. Shaped as if she'd come on for the run when mid-field on handicap debut at Ascot in November, but fared little better at Newbury 8 weeks later and has been off again since. Found it tough in this season's two handicaps but a move away from soft ground may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (10/1 -67%) Lady Gwen |
10/1(-67%) | (6) Lady Gwen 10/1, Three handicap hurdle wins this season, including back-to-back successes at Taunton and Market Rasen in November. Has continued in decent heart since, runner-up at Fakenham when last seen the following month (has had a wind op subsequently). Can give another good account. Respectable efforts in December and has had wind surgery in March; probably not far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (5/1 -166%) Easy Peasy |
5/1(-166%) | (3) Easy Peasy 5/1, Dual bumper winner and has made a bright start to her hurdling career, following up her Exeter success with a comfortable victory in a Ludlow novice. Leading contender with the potential of more still to offer as she makes her handicap debut. 2-3 in bumpers and 2-2 over hurdles; makes handicap debut and brings potential. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
EASY PEASY has only tasted defeat once in her career so far and she remains unbeaten over the smaller obstacles after her three-and-a-half-length success at Ludlow earlier in the month. Nicky Henderson's mare could still have plenty more to offer and she could prove hard to beat off an opening mark of 113. The main danger is Finest View, who finished sixth in a class 3 event on her first start for the Alan King yard at Newbury last time. Mighty Moth is another to note.
EASY PEASY has looked a nice prospect when winning her first 2 starts over hurdles, defying a penalty with a bit in hand at Ludlow 19 days ago, and she can add to her tally with further progress to come on her handicap debut. Mighty Moth opened her hurdles account in good style last time and is feared most, ahead of Finest View.
Competitive despite the numbers. FINEST VIEW edges preference given her reduced mark and the encouragement she gave last time.

1st (13) (150/1 -50%) Fast Deal |
150/1(-50%) | (13) Fast Deal 150/1, Poor maiden who makes no appeal from out of the handicap. Remote when third in selling handicap last month and now 0-45 under all codes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (9/4 +55%) Ballyrashane |
9/4(+55%) | (11) Ballyrashane 9/4, Points winner who landed 4-runner handicap chase (4/6) at Fakenham (29.1f, good to soft). Decent second at Ffos Las since and remains unexposed. Won over 3m5f at Fakenham last month and has run well in defeat since; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (8/1 -14%) Lightonthewing |
8/1(-14%) | (6) Lightonthewing 8/1, Returned to last season's form from out of the blue to take advantage of a much-reduced mark at Wincanton and backed that up when following up at Exeter. Similar form under a penalty when 14 lengths second of 4 to Uallrightharry at Fontwell (26f, heavy) since and 7 lb better off with winner here. No match for Uallrightharry when second last time but won twice beforehand; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/1 -27%) Felton Bellevue |
7/1(-27%) | (3) Felton Bellevue 7/1, Generally reliable and gained a deserved first win for over 2 years at Southwell last month. Expected to go well again. Consistent 9yo who went up only 3lb for last month's Southwell win; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (25/1 +38%) Lady Pacifico |
25/1(+38%) | (12) Lady Pacifico 25/1, Flat/hurdles winner who made a decent start for this stable when third at Leicester on chase bow in November. Ran badly back over hurdles next time, however, and never involved back over fences at Taunton. Headgear re-fitted. Placed over 2m6f on stable/chase debut but two lesser efforts have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (2/1 +43%) Hilltown |
2/1(+43%) | (9) Hilltown 2/1, Back to form to win at Plumpton by a wide margin 3 weeks ago and remains well treated on old form if backing that up. Looked in excellent nick when winning by 13l at Plumpton last month; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (11/1 +21%) Head On |
11/1(+21%) | (4) Head On 11/1, Won 3 times in early stages of the 2021-22 campaign and has shaped better than the result a couple of times over fences this term. Not discounted from an easing mark/change of headgear. Won three chases in 2021 but has mixed record since returning from long layoff this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (12/1 +14%) Largy Nights |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Largy Nights 12/1, Stepped up on comeback run when doubling chase tally at Sedgefield in November. Anchored by an 8 lb rise next 2 starts but has since been eased 2 lb. Won by 12l over 3m3f at Sedgefield in autumn; did not look straightforward there last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (16/1 -60%) Uallrightharry |
16/1(-60%) | (7) Uallrightharry 16/1, Took advantage of a big drop in the weights when back to form at Fontwell, beating Lightonthewing by 14 lengths. Far from certain to reproduce that but player if he does. Dominated four-runner race at Fontwell last month but is too inconsistent to rely upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (18/1 -29%) Lord Sparky |
18/1(-29%) | (1) Lord Sparky 18/1, Recorded sixth career win over fences when making all in an amateur rider's handicap at Fakenham on New Year's Day last year. Has a fair bit to prove following 3 poor efforts this season, though. A marathon trip on sharp left-handed track suits him well; out of form this season, though. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Hilltown made the most of a career-low mark when scoring in ready fashion at Plumpton earlier this month. However, a 9lb rise in the ratings may leave Seamus Mullins' charge vulnerable, with 3m5f winner BALLYRASHANE making most appeal. The seven-year-old would have found 3m on the sharp side when runner-up at Ffos Las latest and compensation could await now he's faced with a stiffer test of stamina. Felton Bellevue and Lightonthewing are also worth a second look.
BALLYRASHANE is steadily progressing so could be the answer up against exposed sorts. Hilltown was back to his best when scoring at Plumpton so must be respected, while the likeable Felton Bellevue can make his presence felt again.
Seamus Mullins' HILLTOWN (nap) has thrived in recent weeks and is taken to overcome a 9lb rise for last month's Plumpton romp.

1st (8) (9/1 -50%) Garitsa Bay |
9/1(-50%) | (8) Garitsa Bay 9/1, Didn't offer much in bumper/3 novice hurdle runs but showed a good deal more without being seen to best effect when fourth on handicap debut at Market Rasen (18.6f) 3 weeks ago, rallying 2 out and running on. Surely capable of better again on that evidence and worth considering. Looked likely to improve with racing when 4th on handicap debut (2m2f); in the shake-up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/1 -20%) Deerstalker |
9/1(-20%) | (2) Deerstalker 9/1, Qualified for handicaps with a pair of fourth-placed finishes, shaping better than distance beaten suggests at Plumpton latterly. May have found conditions against him when pulled up on handicap bow at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) in January and not one to write off. Tongue strap on 1st time. Promising 4th (good to soft) to subsequent winners; pulled up on heavy; capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/2 -57%) Largy Force |
11/2(-57%) | (3) Largy Force 11/2, Fetched £85,000 after winning sole point start in April 2022 and filled runners-up spot in bumper/pair of hurdle starts for current yard, latterly at Chepstow (2m, soft) 31 days ago. Feasible to think she can do better still now handicapping over this longer trip. Winning Irish pointer; three solid runs under rules; every chance on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (16/1 -78%) My Granny Lily |
16/1(-78%) | (11) My Granny Lily 16/1, Suited by more patient tactics when off the mark in 11-runner handicap hurdle (15/2) at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy) in February. Not disgraced by any means in 2 starts since, fifth of 9 in handicap at Chepstow (2m) 31 days ago. Each-way claims. Heavy-ground 2m winner; nearly always kept to testing surfaces; queried on drying ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/11 +67%) Avada Kedavra |
10/11(+67%) | (4) Avada Kedavra 10/11, Out of an unraced sister to yard's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth. Caught the eye when third on hurdles debut at Plumpton (20.5f) in November and best not judged too harshly on his subsequent runs at Taunton/Warwick. Very much the type to do better now handicapping/following a wind op. Definite promise on hurdle debut (2m4f, good to soft); likely type now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (7/1 +13%) Rhodia |
7/1(+13%) | (9) Rhodia 7/1, Runner-up on 2 of his 4 starts in bumpers and not disgraced on back of wind surgery over hurdles earlier this term, not looking ideally served by the return to 2m when fifth at Doncaster (16.6f) in January. This step back up in trip may help. Maiden; vulnerable in handicaps but not far away since wind op and return to 2m2f can suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (40/1 -150%) Secret Sauce |
40/1(-150%) | (7) Secret Sauce 40/1, Fair performer on the Flat in Ireland and best effort over hurdles when runner-up in a Hereford novice (2m) in January. Easy to back, looked booked for fourth on yard debut in a Plumpton maiden (15.9f) 3 weeks ago but this switch to handicaps rates a plus. Won 1m claimer in Ireland; hurdle promise but fell latest and needs more off opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (66/1 -313%) Camino Rocio |
66/1(-313%) | (5) Camino Rocio 66/1, Milan gelding who offered something to work on when fifth on hurdles debut at Ballinrobe (2m) last spring. Well held in pair of starts on these shores for Gary Brown thereafter and would need to see market support behind him to make him of interest now handicapping for new yard. Some hurdle promise in Ireland; worth considering on handicap debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (25/1 +0%) Gentle Victor |
25/1(+0%) | (6) Gentle Victor 25/1, Offered something to work on at huge odds on hurdles debut at Ludlow in October but hasn't kicked on subsequently, including in pair of handicaps in recent months. More needed despite easing mark. Encouraging hurdle debut on good to soft; struggled in the mud since; may do better now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (80/1 -471%) Nick The Greek |
80/1(-471%) | (1) Nick The Greek 80/1, Caused a surprise on first run since leaving Olly Murphy when landing a weak novice at Southwell (15.8f, heavy) in February, belying odds of 40/1 in the process. Not helped by bad mistake when fourth in novice seller since but may lack the potential of one or two now handicapping. Successful yard debut in 2m novice; outstayed in Exeter seller since; extra needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (50/1 -178%) Rebel Mc |
50/1(-178%) | (10) Rebel Mc 50/1, Black Sam Bellamy gelding who offered little in novice hurdles and only minor promise on second of his 3 starts in handicaps last spring. Starts out for new yard on back of wind surgery/equipped with a tongue tie but significant improvement needed. Fell short in 3 handicaps at 2m-2m5f for previous yard; had wind op and now tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (125/1 -150%) Den The Diva |
125/1(-150%) | (12) Den The Diva 125/1, Little form in mares' novice hurdles and fared no better in handicaps to date, pulled up at Huntingdon (19.6f) in February. Cheekpieces go on for 1st time but she looks up against it. Saddle slipped in January but minor handicap form either side; plenty to find; 4lb wrong. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Chepstow runner-up LARGY FORCE lost little in defeat when giving weight away to the now 112-rated Love Tree in a novice hurdle last month. An opening mark of 102 looks workable for the Warren Greatrex-trained mare and she's taken to open her account in this sphere. The move into handicap company and wind procedure may see an improved bid from Avada Kedavra. Any market support for the son of Milan would be interesting, while Deerstalker should appreciate this return to a sounder surface.
AVADA KEDAVRA showed distinct signs of promise on his first of 3 novice/maiden hurdles earlier this term and, very much appealing as the type to do better now handicapping, Nicky Henderson's well-bred sort is of definite interest here. Garitsa Bay, who very much caught the eye at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago, is another to consider, along with Warren Greatrex's mare Largy Force.
A handful of these are worth a second look, including AVADA KEDAVRA on his handicap debut. Largy Force could be the main danger.

Trevor's Lad |
(4) (40/1 +0%)40/1(+0%) | (4) Trevor's Lad 40/1, Milan gelding who displayed definite promise on first of his 2 starts in novice hurdles during 2022/23 season. However, pulled up on his belated return/handicap debut at Fontwell (17.7f) on Friday. Passed over if taking up this engagement. Pulled up on handicap debut at Fontwell on Friday, having bled from the nose.. |

1st (10) (14/1 +30%) Telefenney |
14/1(+30%) | (10) Telefenney 14/1, Well held all 3 starts in maiden/novice company and fared no better when well held fourth on handicap debut at Sedgefield (16.8f) in February. Needs to step up a good deal on that if she's to feature here. Beaten about 25l when fourth on handicap debut; needs to learn to settle better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/8 +51%) Finn Lough |
13/8(+51%) | (3) Finn Lough 13/8, Successful sole start between the flags and looked a work-in-progress over hurdles so far this term. In good hands and type to do better now handicapping. Engaged 4.00 Bangor Saturday. Irish point winner; shaped with promise in three 2m hurdles; considered on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/2 +17%) A Tickatickatiming |
5/2(+17%) | (1) A Tickatickatiming 5/2, Fair bumper winner and matched that level over hurdles when holding on gamely for success in 2m mares' maiden at Plumpton (15.9f) in November. Similar form back from 5 months off when second on handicap debut there (20.5f) 3 weeks ago and she's another holding claims. Bumped into a big improver when second on last month's handicap debut; same mark here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/2 -120%) Churchman |
11/2(-120%) | (6) Churchman 11/2, More encouraging signs in handicaps when fourth at Ludlow in November and went agonisingly close to shedding the maiden tag back there in February, losing out on the nod. This step back up in trip rates a plus and he's very much one to consider. 0-6 over hurdles but went very close over 2m last time; moves back up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (25/1 +24%) Over Milk Wood |
25/1(+24%) | (8) Over Milk Wood 25/1, Modest form over hurdles in Ireland for Olivia Hegarty in 2021. Missed all of 2022 and 2023 and low-key efforts upon returning to action in recent months. Needs to show more before becoming of interest. Returned from mammoth absence with two very disappointing runs for new stable this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (100/1 -150%) Hitthekettle |
100/1(-150%) | (5) Hitthekettle 100/1, Took 7 tries to win an Irish point and has shown very little under Rules to date, including when pulled up on his chase debut here (22.5f) in July. Best watched returned to timber following 9 months off. Well beaten in first two handicaps (hurdle/chase); back from layoff with lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (4/1 +38%) Raise Your Glass |
4/1(+38%) | (9) Raise Your Glass 4/1, Jack Hobbs filly who has improved with each outing to date, suited by the increase in trip when second in a C&D juvenile hurdle 6 weeks ago. Goes handicapping now from low opening mark and she could well be up to playing a part. No match for winner when second in C&D juvenile hurdle in March; may progress in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (40/1 -300%) Harrys Game |
40/1(-300%) | (7) Harrys Game 40/1, Promise in a couple of starts for Jeremy Scott last spring and likely he'll be sharper for his yard/qualifying hurdle run on back of 10 months off at Plumpton (20.5f) 3 weeks ago. Very much the type to do better now handicapping and market support behind him would look significant. Promise when third in Ffos Las novice for another yard last spring; handicap debut today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Denied by just a nose under Jay Tidball in a conditional riders' race at Ludlow in February, CHURCHMAN has a major chance off just 1lb higher, especially as Tidball can utilise his full 5lb claim this time. This longer trip is a further boost for the selection, who has a solid chance of gaining a breakthrough success. Victory Club holds C&D experience and looks the pick of the opposition, although similar comments apply to Raise Your Glass, who posted a personal best over track and trip last month.
CHURCHMAN went agonisingly close to breaking his duck when beaten on the nod at Ludlow in February and with this step back up in trip rating a plus, he looks to hold sound claims of gaining compensation here. 4-y-o Raise Your Glass and A Tickatickatiming are others to consider, whilst the market may be prove useful in assessing the chances of handicap-debutants Harrys Game and Finn Lough.
Topweight A TICKATICKATIMING was second off today's mark on her handicap debut and the form has worked out very well this week.

1st (1) (6/4 -36%) Deise Aba |
6/4(-36%) | (1) Deise Aba 6/4, Useful but unpredictable chaser for Philip Hobbs. Has won all 3 starts in points for this yard, however, and he stands out on form, so boasts obvious claims. Useful handicapper in his prime and a triple point winner since December; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/2 -13%) What A Glance |
9/2(-13%) | (6) What A Glance 9/2, Below form when last seen in this sphere and, while he ran well in a point last time, he was behind Deise Aba and is unlikely to turn the tables. Well beaten in both hunter chases last year but ran well behind Deise Aba in recent point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5/2 +25%) Solomon Grey |
5/2(+25%) | (5) Solomon Grey 5/2, Fairly useful chaser who was a bit below form when last seen in this sphere over C&D 10 months ago. Has shown his wellbeing in points of late and can't be ruled out. Drew a blank last year but ran some good races in defeat; can make his presence felt here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/2 -22%) Precious Bounty |
11/2(-22%) | (4) Precious Bounty 11/2, Multiple point winner (including last time) who has a solid record in hunters but will need to improve quite significantly if a couple of these rivals are on form. Good third in John Corbet Cup last June and returns here after easy point win in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (40/1 -122%) Orion D'aubrelle |
40/1(-122%) | (3) Orion D'aubrelle 40/1, Lost his way for John Joseph Hanlon and not seen under Rules for 2 years. Hard to fancy for all that he's scored between the flags since. Won a minor point last month but has a lot more on his plate here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (11/1 +83%) Dreaming Diamond |
11/1(+83%) | (7) Dreaming Diamond 11/1, Fair form in bumpers back in 2022 but showed nothing on hurdling debut and has failed to win a point since. Others preferred. Safely held in two restricted points this year and looks up against it here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DEISE ABA, who reportedly bled from the nose when last seen under Rules in the 2023 Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham, has won all his completed starts in point-to-points since and is hard to oppose back over regulation fences. Rated 145 when at his peak, the veteran has a glaringly obvious chance on these terms and should have too much for the likes of Precious Bounty and What A Glance.
DEISE ABA has made a terrific start in points for this stable and he's the class act in this field, so he's preferred to Solomon Grey, who wasn't disgraced between the flags last time. What A Glance is the pick of the remainder, albeit with quite a bit to find.
The answer might be SOLOMON GREY, who was third in a good C&D hunter chase on his latest rules start last spring.
Ths is the racecard key.
