1st (4) (25/1 +50%) Roger |
25/1(+50%) | (4) Roger 25/1, Had 3 outings on the Flat in Bratislava for Jaroslav Hanacek in 2023, best effort when fourth last time. Best watched on hurdle debut unless the betting suggests otherwise. 0-3 on the Flat in Slovakia; best watched on stable/hurdles debut after 169 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (40/1 -233%) Raise Your Glass |
40/1(-233%) | (8) Raise Your Glass 40/1, Well held in a Doncaster bumper and Ludlow hurdle for Lucinda Russell at the end of 2023 but offered a bit more for new yard after wind surgery when 16 lengths fifth of 10 over 2m at Hereford 15 days ago. A lot more will be needed to get heavily involved here, though. Showed a little more on stable debut last time, but may be one for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/5 -51%) Swift Hawk |
4/5(-51%) | (1) Swift Hawk 4/5, Fair form on the Flat for William Knight and, having changed hands for 85,000 gns, he made the perfect start for new connections on hurdle debut at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft) in December. Sure to improve and the one to beat. Convnincing winner on hurdles debut at Taunton, but testing ground would be a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (200/1 -60%) Alduni's Girl |
200/1(-60%) | (7) Alduni's Girl 200/1, Big prices and well beaten in a bumper and maiden hurdle this winter. Some ability on bumper debut; but since beaten a long way in another bumper and a hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 -17%) Dragonball Prince |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Dragonball Prince 14/1, Fair maiden handicapper on Flat (stays 17f) for Hugo Palmer but below par when last seen in November. Switches to hurdles for new yard. Betting should guide. 0-15 on the Flat; stays 2m+; worth a market check on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (15/8 +46%) Ragosina |
15/8(+46%) | (6) Ragosina 15/8, Flat winner who struck at the fourth time of asking over hurdles when seeing off 4 rivals in a 2½m Sedgefield mares' novice last month. Likely to go well again. Beat a hot favourite at Sedgefield last time; form not solid but proven on testing ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/1 +10%) Simiyann |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Simiyann 9/1, Fairly useful maiden at up to 2m on the Flat. Should have a future over hurdles. 0-9 on the Flat, but stays 2m well; market support would be interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (40/1 -186%) Djerbanni |
40/1(-186%) | (2) Djerbanni 40/1, Fairly useful form when winning a 15f Dieppe Flat maiden for Mikel Delzangles last summer. Shaped better than distant fourth of 5 suggests on recent Kelso hurdle debut. Tongue tie added now. Open to progress. Beaten a very long way on hurdles debut at Kelso nine days ago; needs to improve quickly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (200/1 -100%) Royal Toast |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Royal Toast 200/1, Fair form in pair of maidens on the Flat in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien but has offered little in 3 hurdles for current yard. Three outings over hurdles for this yard have been blowouts; look elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SWIFT HAWK was an impressive winner on his hurdling debut over 2m at Taunton in December and it would be no surprise to see him add another victory to his record here, despite having to carry a 6lb penalty. Ragosina also won on her most recent outing and could prove to be the main threat to the selection. Simiyann is a nine-race maiden on the Flat but he has shown enough to merit consideration on his first start over timber.
It's highly likely SWIFT HAWK has more to offer on the back of his Taunton hurdle debut success and he can make light of his penalty. The chief threat will probably come from fellow hurdle winner Ragosina unless the betting speaks in the favour of hurdle newcomer Simiyann, who has some fairly useful form to his name on the Flat.
The last four winners of this race had already won over hurdles which is in favour of SWIFT HAWK, successful at Taunton in December.

1st (5) (2/1 +15%) Mortens Leam |
2/1(+15%) | (5) Mortens Leam 2/1, Healthy strike rate over fences and though lightly-raced (and generally below par) since landing a Kempton handicap chase in April 2021, he proved that ability remains when a clear second at Taunton (23f, heavy) recently. Remains on a potentially very handy mark up 3 lb. Lightly raced in recent years, but ran well to finish second at Taunton last time; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (17/2 +29%) Champagne Court |
17/2(+29%) | (3) Champagne Court 17/2, Successful in this sphere and over hurdles in autumn 2022. Ended last season with a respectable enough effort at Wincanton but he was beating a retreat when unseating 2 out back from a 13-month absence at Sandown. Opposable. On a favourable mark, but was already well beaten when unseating on last month's return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (6/4 -65%) Enjoy Your Life |
6/4(-65%) | (1) Enjoy Your Life 6/4, Fairly useful ex-French winning hurdler/chaser who bounced back from a couple of fairly heavy defeats when accounting for 3 rivals at Taunton (23f, soft) last month. 4 lb rise looks manageable and he's clearly a big player. Has won two of his last four starts over fences, but could be vulnerable on testing ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/4 +61%) Morning Spirit |
11/4(+61%) | (2) Morning Spirit 11/4, Has dipped to an attractive mark, now 6 lb below that off which he opened his chase account at Carlisle in November 2022. However, he hasn't really threatened since and well held both starts so far this season. Not the most prolific; record suggests this first start in four months may be needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ENJOY YOUR LIFE had plenty in hand when scoring over 2m7f at Taunton a few weeks ago and the seven-year-old is hard to oppose off just a 4lb higher mark here. Mortens Leam hit the crossbar over the same track and trip 11 days ago and is likely to be in the mix once again. The rest all have some questions to answer but Morning Spirit is just the pick of them.
MORTENS LEAM remains 12 lb below his last winning mark following a 3 lb nudge for his back-to-form second at Taunton where he pulled a long way clear of the third. The 12-y-o clearly retains a fair level of ability judged on that effort and he is an appealing alternative to Enjoy Your Life, who got back on track last month and is greatly respected. Morning Spirit's record stands at 1-14 over fences and he will need to return to his best in order to trouble the aforementioned rivals.
The veteran MORTENS LEAM showed that the ability remains when runner-up at Taunton 11 days ago. He could collect if able to repeat it.

1st (4) (11/4 +21%) Milldam |
11/4(+21%) | (4) Milldam 11/4, Winner of 2m handicaps in the mud at Ffos Las and Catterick this winter, overcoming a sloppy round of jumping at the latter track 4 weeks ago. A 3 lb nudge is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing. Has won two of his last three races, latest at Catterick; up 3lb in a better race; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/4 +44%) Playful Saint |
5/4(+44%) | (1) Playful Saint 5/4, Lightly-raced 9-y-o who won easily in the mud at Leicester last winter before good third of 16 In Imperial Cup at Sandown (2m, soft). Off for a further 12 months but goes well fresh and has been given a chance by the handicapper. Ran well on last three starts last term, including 3rd in Imperial Cup; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 -100%) Schmilsson |
11/2(-100%) | (5) Schmilsson 11/2, Fairly useful on Flat for Andrew Balding and going the right way over hurdles, winning a 17f Sedgefield maiden and second in 2m Ludlow novice (both heavy) last month. Looks on a competitive opening handicap mark in this sphere. Progressive novice who won maiden at Sedgefield last month; chance on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (7/1 -8%) Mac's Xpress |
7/1(-8%) | (6) Mac's Xpress 7/1, Remains a maiden after 18 NH runs. Below-form eighth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.5f, heavy) 70 days ago. Back down in trip. 2 lb out of the handicap. 0-16 over hurdles although second in a maiden in October; not at his best last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (8/1 +50%) Nayati |
8/1(+50%) | (2) Nayati 8/1, Won 3 times last season. Reappearance fifth at Huntingdon in November was creditable but he ran poorly at Musselburgh a month later. Off since. Won in January 2023, but not been quite at his best since; poor run latest; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Milldam has to be respected having won two of his last three starts, but marginal preference is for the returning PLAYFUL SAINT. Dan Skelton's gelding has been off the track since finishing third in the Imperial Cup in March last year and he catches the eye off a 4lb lower mark. Schmilsson remains unexposed over hurdles and is another with valid form claims.
PLAYFUL SAINT reappears off a mark 4 lb lower than when third in the very competitive Imperial Cup at Sandown a year ago and he'll take a bit of stopping if still capable of that level of form. Handicap hurdle newcomer Schmilsson is feared most ahead of Milldam.
Progressive novice SCHMILSSON, a winner at Sedgefield last month, is taken to beat the in-form Milldam and Playful Saint.

1st (7) (7/2 +42%) Goguenard |
7/2(+42%) | (7) Goguenard 7/2, Maiden Irish pointer who has upped his game since switched to handicaps over hurdles, battling well to make it back-to-back wins at Catterick (19.3f, soft) in February. Again ran well when second at Fontwell last time, so he enters calculations. In good form this year with two wins and a place in 2m3f handicaps; up in trip; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (17/2 +47%) Houston Calling |
17/2(+47%) | (5) Houston Calling 17/2, No better than mid-field in novice/maiden hurdles and hasn't fared any better in handicaps on her last 2 starts, in first-time cheekpieces when sixth of 10 at Uttoxeter (22.2f, heavy) in December. Improvement required having had a wind op. Ordinary form so far, including in two handicaps; may improve on first run after wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/10 +20%) Pipers Cross |
11/10(+20%) | (3) Pipers Cross 11/10, Runner-up first 3 starts for current trainer, before staying on well to open her hurdles account in handicap at Huntingdon (25f, heavy) 8 days ago. Penalty might not be enough to prevent her from following up. Has done well for present yard; off the mark eight days ago; sound chance with a penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (50/1 -100%) Feryl Beryl |
50/1(-100%) | (8) Feryl Beryl 50/1, Has made little impact in bumpers/over hurdles so far, always behind after 6 months off when fifth of 8 in mares maiden at Exeter (16.7f, heavy) 40 days ago. Needs to leave previous form behind upped in trip for her handicap debut. Well beaten in bumpers and over hurdles; needs to improve for longer trip on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 +21%) Rollo's Kingdom |
11/2(+21%) | (6) Rollo's Kingdom 11/2, Remains a maiden but, in first-time cheekpieces, he made more impact than previously when third in handicap at Fontwell (21.8f) in January. Again finished third at the same C&D (heavy) next time, so he can give another good account. 0-8 over hurdles; improved since going handicapping (fair 3rd last time); each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (13/2 -95%) Frankie Faulkner |
13/2(-95%) | (1) Frankie Faulkner 13/2, Maiden hurdle winner at Newton Abbot last summer who, in first-time cheekpieces, returned to form over fences when third in handicap at Musselburgh (23.6f, soft) 22 days ago. Can make his presence felt reverted to hurdling. Winning point/hurdler; fair form over fences (third last time); a possible back hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (150/1 -200%) Black Market |
150/1(-200%) | (10) Black Market 150/1, Fair ex-Irish hurdler but has shown little for current yard, pulled up handicap chase at Uttoxeter on his sole outing last season. Back over hurdles on his return from a further 17 months off. Well treated on his best form; hasn't been out for 514 days; not an obvious candidate.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Pipers Cross was an easy winner over 3m1f at Huntingdon eight days ago and is shortlisted under a 7lb penalty. Similar comments apply to Goguenard, who has won two of his last three starts in a determined manner. However, FRANKIE FAULKNER is 1-2 over timber and, with the trip and ground to suit, Evan Williams' gelding has a live chance of carrying top-weight to victory now back over hurdles.
PIPERS CROSS confirmed her previous promise for her current yard when gaining a first hurdles success at Huntingdon 8 days ago and she can score again in her current form. Frankie Faulkner won on his second start over hurdles last summer and could be the biggest threat back in this sphere, while Goguenard is also respected.
After her easy win eight days ago PIPERS CROSS should be hard to beat with a penalty. Goguenard looks her main danger.

1st (4) (Evens +0%) Doyouknowwhatimean |
Evens(+0%) | (4) Doyouknowwhatimean Evens, Showed much improved form to get off the mark in 2m handicap chase at Lingfield 18 days ago, cruising clear. 10 lb rise seems justified and he's a big player. Cantered home to break his duck over fences last time; 10lb higher but the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 -27%) Force De Frap |
7/2(-27%) | (3) Force De Frap 7/2, Dual winner over hurdles last term and repeated the feat over fences with successes at Bangor and Ludlow this term. Up 4 lb but this fluent traveller can go very close again. Has won his last two races; up 14lb but his form is solid and he should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 +45%) Limetree Boy |
11/2(+45%) | (5) Limetree Boy 11/2, Winning hurdler and showed aptitude for chasing when third in handicap at Worcester on return in October 2022. Hasn't kicked on in 3 starts since, however, running poorly at Exeter in January. Headgear now added. Novice hurdle winner in 2022; well treated now but needs to improve for headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/1 +0%) One Fine Man |
7/1(+0%) | (1) One Fine Man 7/1, Landed back-to-back 2m handicaps at Carlisle/Ayr in February for James Moffatt. Yet to fire for his current yard though, flattered when third of 8 in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (20f, heavy) 44 days ago. Needs to step forward. Two wins last term; not at his best this season, but fair run latest and well treated now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (8/1 -33%) You Say Nothing |
8/1(-33%) | (2) You Say Nothing 8/1, Scored at Ffos Las (2m) in May but failed to back up a good Chepstow second over Christmas when a remote third of five at Sedgefield last time. Can bounce back. Conditions suit and has won two of last 6 but needs to bounce back from poor run last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (80/1 -142%) Boom Boom |
80/1(-142%) | (6) Boom Boom 80/1, Got off the mark in 2m maiden hurdle at Wincanton last April but he has shown little since, tried in blinkers when pulled up in Kempton handicap chase in November on his final run for Nicky Henderson. Lots to prove for his new handler after a break. Cost £7,000 in January after a maiden hurdle win for Nicky Henderson; chase/stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The progressive DOYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN posted a commanding performance at Lingfield 18 days ago and even a 10lb higher mark may not be able to prevent the Dan Skelton-trained gelding from following up. The hat-trick seeking Force De Frap is an obvious threat based on his consistent profile over fences, while One Fine Man and You Say Nothing are both better than what they mustered on their most recent starts.
This looks to rest between FORCE DE FRAP and Doyouknowwhatimean with preference for Emma-Jane Bishop's hat-trick seeking gelding who can edge out Dan Skelton's recent Lingfield scorer in what promises to be a close-run thing at the weights. You Say Nothing appeals as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
Having won in fine style at Lingfield last time DOYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN (nap) is taken to follow up by beating Force de Frap.

1st (3) (9/2 +0%) Forest Chimes |
9/2(+0%) | (3) Forest Chimes 9/2, Multiple point winner, last of 4 finishers latest start (Dec 3). Not a forlorn hope on hunter debut for stable with a good record in this sphere. Wears hood. Six wins from 16 runs in points; well beaten when last seen out (December); rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 -27%) Grand Roi |
7/2(-27%) | (5) Grand Roi 7/2, Fair chaser who posted a good second of 5 in hunter chase at Fakenham (24.2f, soft) 24 days ago. Not dismissed. Three wins over hurdles including a Grade 2; creditable second on hunter chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (13/2 +7%) Franigane |
13/2(+7%) | (4) Franigane 13/2, Looked a useful hurdling prospect when scoring at Wetherby in February 2021. Placed in 3 points for hfis new yard this winter though so needs considering. Fair hurdler/chaser last term; not fared as well pointing; drop to 2m4f will suit; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/4 +32%) Fil D'ariane |
9/4(+32%) | (2) Fil D'ariane 9/4, Fair performer for Tom Symonds. First start under Rules for current stable when solid third in Grand Military at Sandown. Running another good race when fell 2 out there (still close up) since. Big shout. Winning hurdler/pointer; has run two good races over 3m this term; contender down in trip.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (9/2 +72%) Missed Tee |
9/2(+72%) | (7) Missed Tee 9/2, Easily won sole start in Irish points and dual winner over hurdles last winter. Has failed to go on in three runs over fences though, pulled up at Ludlow last time on final run for Dan Skelton. Others are preferred. Dual hurdle winner; fair efforts chasing in the autumn; interesting but needs to settle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/1 -300%) Bawnmore |
11/1(-300%) | (1) Bawnmore 11/1, £6,000 5-y-o, Muhtathir gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/fair chaser Attawo and fair but temperamental hurdler/chaser Sawago. Multiple winning pointer, runner-up last time in February, so he's much respected. 5-21 in points; interesting contender (rules debut) but beaten at 2-5 in a point last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (66/1 -230%) Terrierman |
66/1(-230%) | (6) Terrierman 66/1, Fair handicap hurdler for Tom Lacey and has won a couple of points since. Only ninth in that sphere last time, however, and others appeal more. Winning hurdler/pointer who has been below par since a summer break and others appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A difficult race to unpick and what can only be described as a tentative vote goes to FIL D'ARIANE. Douglas White's nine-year-old was still thereabouts when coming to grief two from home in the Royal Artillery Gold Cup at Sandown. A drop in trip might suit the son of Gris De Gris and official ratings suggest he ought to hold every chance. Grand Roi finished second at Fakenham 24 days ago and he is the main danger, while Forest Chimes rates best of the rest.
FIL D'ARIANE has made a positive start to life with Douglas White and can get off the mark for his new yard at the chief expense of Franigane who also arrives in good order for a new stable. Grand Roi and Bawnmore need considering too in this open hunter.
The vote goes to FRANIGANE who was a fair chaser at up to 2m4f so will be well suited by this trip. Grand Roi is next best.

9/1(-13%) | (8) Hollygrove Cha Cha 9/1, Affinisea filly. Half-sister to bumper winner/modest hurdler Sheila Nash, stays 3¼m. Makes appeal on paper. Out of a close relative of smart bumper winner Captain Cutter; yard does well in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/5 +78%) As Legends Have It |
11/5(+78%) | (1) As Legends Have It 11/5, Jack Hobbs gelding. Dam (c140/h137), 19f-2¾m hurdle/chase winner, sister to smart chaser (stayed 21f) Easter Meteor. Third both starts in Irish points in spring 2023 and notable Rules newcomer for in-form yard. Third in both Irish points last year; no surprise if he features on this rules debut. |

3rd (5) (7/2 +22%) Tambo's Troops |
7/2(+22%) | (5) Tambo's Troops 7/2, €40,000 3-y-o, £95,000 4-y-o, Network gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners, including bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Enki Flacke. Dam French 10.5f-15f winner. Runner-up sole start in Irish points (Nov 2023). One to note. Bought for £95,000 soon after promising Irish point debut in November; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (40/1 -150%) Alexandra Larose |
40/1(-150%) | (7) Alexandra Larose 40/1, Walk In The Park filly. Sister to bumper winner/useful 2¾m hurdle winner Shannon Royale, and half-sister to numerous winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Minella Foru. Out of a bumper winner who has produced some useful jumpers; can't be ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 +0%) Staff Sergeant Len |
4/1(+0%) | (6) Staff Sergeant Len 4/1, Nutan gelding. Brother to fair hurdler Sergeant. Left debut well behind when just at Fontwell 6 weeks ago. Sets a reasonable standard and boasts solid claims. Pulled up on debut but fared much better and went close at Fontwell in January; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (4/1 -220%) Saint Kristobal |
4/1(-220%) | (4) Saint Kristobal 4/1, £21,000 3-y-o, £155,000 4-y-o, Jeu St Eloi gelding. Dam, French hurdler/chaser (15f-2¼m winner), half-sister to French chaser (21f winner) Kermeline. Successful on second of 2 starts in Irish points (Oct 2023) and worth a chance to add to that tally on first go under Rules. Bought for £155,000 after Irish point win in October; with top stable for rules career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (14/1 +44%) Ol' Man Brando |
14/1(+44%) | (3) Ol' Man Brando 14/1, Half-brother to useful hurdler/smart chaser Lucid Dreams but looked in need of the experience when sixth at Huntingdon on debut. More to come. Yard does well in bumpers but this fellow was never dangerous when sixth on recent debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Saint Kristobal and Ballywite both represent powerful yards and will undoubtedly have their supporters, but STAFF SERGEANT LEN shades preference. Anthony Charlton's gelding struggled when pitched in at Listed level on his racecourse bow, but it was a different story at Fontwell last time when he was just touched off. With further improvement likely and given he lines up in receipt of weight from his elders, he is taken to go one better.
SAINT KRISTOBAL has been picked up by a top yard after winning a point and he's capable of supplementing that on his first go under Rules. Ballywite makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and Staff Sergeant is unlikely to be far away with a repeat of the form he showed when second at Fontwell last time.
The most interesting one is Paul Nicholls' new recruit SAINT KRISTOBAL, who was bought for a six-figure sum after his Irish point win.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
