1st (8) (6/1 -20%) Duke Of Luckley |
6/1(-20%) | (8) Duke Of Luckley 6/1, Prone to mistakes over fences but often there or thereabouts. Can go well fresh so frame claims. Conditions to suit and has C&D form; can go well fresh; cheekpieces replace visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 -157%) Great Samourai |
9/2(-157%) | (4) Great Samourai 9/2, Had been disputing the lead when falling 2 out in an Irish point and showed fair form in maiden hurdles last spring. Ran to a similar level when second at Huntingdon on handicap/chase debut return and positive start for this yard when filling same spot here (15.8f). Likely to stay and big shout. Ran right up to his best here (2m, soft) on stable debut last month; new trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (17/2 +87%) Top Of The Bay |
17/2(+87%) | (9) Top Of The Bay 17/2, No solid form under Rules so far, including on handicap/chase debut. Poor rules form but better ground/absence of a hood could help; risky all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (20/1 -150%) Begin The Luck |
20/1(-150%) | (3) Begin The Luck 20/1, Found wins hard to come by over hurdles but took well to chasing, winning 4 of his last 6 starts, improving again when wide-margin winner of 4-runner event at Stratford in June. Probably needed the run at Wincanton on first run since 4 weeks ago and better expected now. C&D winner; chance on 2023 best but pulled up on last month's stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (10/3 -11%) Borodale |
10/3(-11%) | (6) Borodale 10/3, Fortunate to open his account over hurdles at Chepstow last time, 6 lengths second when left in front last and just holding on. Still, it was a good run and remains unexposed in handicaps. Makes chase debut. Scrambled home in a Chepstow hurdle in January; goes chasing off the same mark; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (8/1 +27%) Maninsane |
8/1(+27%) | (2) Maninsane 8/1, Dual winner in first campaign over fences last term but mixed record this season, well held last 2 starts. Potentially on a good mark now but others more solid. Track/ground no problem; excuses the last twice and could go well in these calmer waters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (5/2 +69%) Couldbeaweapon |
5/2(+69%) | (7) Couldbeaweapon 5/2, Fair winner at 16f over hurdles but only modest form at best over fences, failing to fire at Lingfield last time. Not as good over fences as hurdles yet and needs to brush up his jumping; good mark though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (40/1 -300%) Man Again |
40/1(-300%) | (1) Man Again 40/1, Winning hurdler who displayed fairly useful form over fences in France but returned from an absence with a tame display at Sandown and Leicester for current yard. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Something to prove. Pulled up in two runs for yard after a break; had wind op & now tongue tied; could revive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (66/1 -230%) Luckofthedraw |
66/1(-230%) | (5) Luckofthedraw 66/1, Back to winning ways at Huntingdon (19.9f, 3 runners) over a year ago but ended the campaign out of sorts and could hardly have shown any less under a change of tactics after 11 months off at Plumpton 23 days ago. Chance on last season's best but it was an underwhelming return at Plumpton last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Borodale was somewhat of a fortuitous winner when being left in the lead at the final hurdle at Chepstow in January. The Flemensfirth gelding has the stamp of a chaser and he must warrant consideration now tackling fences. However, GREAT SAMOURAI has posted two solid efforts in defeat in this sphere, as evidenced at Huntingdon and at this venue last month, and the seven-year-old rates a more solid proposition. A wind procedure may have rejuvenated Man Again and any market support would be interesting.
GREAT SAMOURAI made an encouraging start to life with a new yard when second to a subsequent winner here 5 weeks ago and can go one better off the same mark. Chasing-newcomer Borodale may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Begin The Luck.
Duke Of Luckley can go well back from a break but GREAT SAMOURAI may be the answer on the back of a good stable debut.

1st (7) (7/2 +13%) God's Own Getaway |
7/2(+13%) | (7) God's Own Getaway 7/2, Low-mileage 6-y-o who was back to form over hurdles when third at Market Rasen. Respected now going chasing for powerful yard. 0-5 over hurdles but was placed off today's mark last month; chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 +44%) Hall Lane |
9/2(+44%) | (2) Hall Lane 9/2, Fair winning hurdler last term and made an encouraging start over fences when runner-up at Market Rasen in November. Failed to build on that next 2 starts but not taken lightly eased in class. Eased in grade after last month's respectable Newbury fifth; still unexposed over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (17/2 -55%) Will Sting |
17/2(-55%) | (4) Will Sting 17/2, Mixed record this season though latest second under this rider at Market Rasen was one of his better efforts and now 2 lb below last winning mark. Respected. Inconsistent since his win in early 2023 but has fighting chance if on a going day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (50/1 -52%) Valence D'aumont |
50/1(-52%) | (5) Valence D'aumont 50/1, Enhanced good strike rate over fences when landing a Newcastle handicap in December 2021 but well held all 4 starts this season after nearly 2 years off. Out of form since returning from long absence this season; revival needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 +44%) Star Flyer |
9/2(+44%) | (6) Star Flyer 9/2, Impressed with his jumping when C&D winner in February. Not in same form next 2 starts but not one to write off back at this venue. C&D winner in first-time cheekpieces in February; return to this track an obvious plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (10/1 -233%) Foxey |
10/1(-233%) | (3) Foxey 10/1, Off the mark over hurdles in a selling handicap at Newton Abbot in October. Added to his tally when opening chase account at the second attempt in good style at Lingfield and quickly back to form when winning selling hurdle at Exeter last month. Of interest back in this sphere. Comfortable chase winner in the autumn; back over fences after selling hurdle win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (14/1 +58%) Pollyonesock |
14/1(+58%) | (9) Pollyonesock 14/1, Limited form in bumpers/hurdles and low-key start for this yard on handicap bow at Ludlow. Makes chase debut. Finished last over hurdles on stable/handicap debut; now switched to chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (16/5 -42%) Spago |
16/5(-42%) | (1) Spago 16/5, Placed on all 3 runs over hurdles and better form switched to fences both starts in the autumn, third at Leicester last time. Drop back in trip should suit and remains unexposed in this sphere. Made promising start to his chasing career in the autumn; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (25/1 -25%) Rossbeigh Strand |
25/1(-25%) | (8) Rossbeigh Strand 25/1, Showed fair form initially over hurdles but has lost his way so plenty to prove ahead of chase debut (winning Irish pointer). Pulled up on both hurdling starts this season and a risky option on this chasing debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FOXEY had little difficulty in regaining the winning thread at Exeter last month and stepping back up in trip could unlock further improvement. The return to fences may also benefit Olly Murphy's gelding and a fourth success of the season could be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge from the returning Spago, who posted a solid third at Leicester in November, while chasing debutant God's Own Getaway isn't taken lightly either.
SPAGO has made an encouraging start to his chasing career and looks to have been found a good opening back from a break. Foxey and Will Sting head the dangers.
This can go to STAR FLYER, who was one of two to pull a long way of the others when winning in pretty good style over C&D in February.

1st (7) (8/1 +20%) Taste The Fear |
8/1(+20%) | (7) Taste The Fear 8/1, Fairly useful winning chaser last season and stepped up on his reappearance when third at Hereford (20.9f, good to soft) in January. Poor twice since, though. Stronger headgear reached for. Not firing on all cylinders this season; headgear switched in bid to perk him up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/4 +21%) Post Chaise |
11/4(+21%) | (5) Post Chaise 11/4, Resumed winning ways in a change of headgear in 3m amateurs' handicap chase at Market Rasen last month, quickening clear after 2 out and well on top finish. Looks an improved model and can figure again. Won fairly comfortably in first-time blinkers last month and is now 4-9 over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (13/2 +0%) Tom Creen |
13/2(+0%) | (12) Tom Creen 13/2, Good record at Sedgefield (successful twice there in the autumn) and decent placed efforts all 3 starts since, including over C&D latest. Should be in the mix after a 3-month break (boasts an excellent record when fresh). Ran well in defeat over C&D in January and remains on a workable mark; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (50/1 +0%) Stony Man |
50/1(+0%) | (11) Stony Man 50/1, Bangor maiden hurdle winner over extended 2m in May 2022. Hasn't completed again in 2 runs this season. Tricky to fancy on switch to fences. Has failed to complete all five hurdle races since winning Bangor maiden in May 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (8/1 +20%) Annie Express |
8/1(+20%) | (10) Annie Express 8/1, £35,000 Irish point winner. Some promise over hurdles although disappointing on handicap debut at Exeter 4 weeks ago. Type to make a better chaser. Pulled up on handicap hurdle debut but may fare better over fences (point winner). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (22/1 -120%) Oscar Robertson |
22/1(-120%) | (3) Oscar Robertson 22/1, Scored at Wetherby in 2021 for Tom George but has become disappointing and fared no better in first-time cheekpieces behind Port Chaise at Market Rasen latest. Visor now tried. Well handicapped on old form but has not really clicked for new stable this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (25/1 -108%) Tim Pat |
25/1(-108%) | (2) Tim Pat 25/1, Completed a hat-trick in early-2022 but without a win since and he's been struggling for form over both sets of obstacles. Very well handicapped if reviving after wind op. Useful chaser at his best but has regressed this season; had wind op since latest run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (9/1 -50%) Shiroccosmagicbaby |
9/1(-50%) | (14) Shiroccosmagicbaby 9/1, Winning Irish pointer very lightly raced under Rules and shaped with plenty of encouragement tried tongue tied for her debut over fences after 4 months off at Ffos Las recently, the lack of an outing seeming to tell only late on. Can do better up in trip now. Lightly raced 7yo mare; moves up in trip after last month's quite promising chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) (16/1 +36%) Daranova |
16/1(+36%) | (15) Daranova 16/1, Gained two 3m chase wins at Bangor in May 2022 but largely struggled since. Has plummeted down the weights. Generally very disappointing since his quick double at Bangor in May 2022; revival needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (6/1 +50%) Roger Rarebit |
6/1(+50%) | (9) Roger Rarebit 6/1, Made a winning seasonal/chase debut at Uttoxeter (20f, heavy) in November and back to form after 4 months off when third in gruelling conditions at Exeter. Remains unexposed over fences and one to note back on better ground. Comfortable winner on chasing debut and has excuses for both subsequent defeats. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (8/1 -33%) Shot Boii |
8/1(-33%) | (6) Shot Boii 8/1, Four-time winner over hurdles and scored at the third attempt in handicap chases at Hereford (25.2f) in January. Quickly bounced back from a lesser effort when runner-up at Chepstow (30.6f) last time and he could be thereabouts once more. Ran well in Chepstow marathon last month and has each-way claims here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (14/1 -40%) Lermoos Legend |
14/1(-40%) | (4) Lermoos Legend 14/1, Won 23f handicap chase at Worcester in July. Little impact back from 5 months off at Chepstow 5 weeks ago but could do better with that under his belt. Pulled up on heavy ground, after a layoff, but conditions will be more to his liking here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (50/1 -150%) Presenting Jeremy |
50/1(-150%) | (8) Presenting Jeremy 50/1, Made winning Rules debut in a Worcester novice hurdle in spring 2021. Better for chase debut when third over C&D final outing last term but well held both starts for new yard this season having been sold out of Dan Skelton's yard for only £5,500 in May. Headgear on. 0-4 over fences but placed over C&D; getting back on decent ground might aid his cause. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The application of first-time blinkers saw a career-best performance from POST CHAISE, who jumped his rivals into the ground when landing the spoils at Market Rasen in March. The seven-year-old is taken to make light work of a 6lb rise in the handicap. Shiroccosmagicbaby made a respectable chase debut when finishing third at Ffos Las and Christian Williams' inmate is feared most now upped in distance, ahead of Tom Creen.
POST CHAISE looks an improved model and is taken to defy a career-high mark for his in-form stable. Shiroccosmagicbaby is interesting up in trip after an encouraging start over fences at Ffos Las. Tom Creen and Shot Boii are also considered.
Another chance is given to ROGER RAREBIT, who found 3m on heavy ground too taxing on his latest outing but still has potential.

4/6(+67%) | (10) Captain Wallace 4/6, Showed improved form to get off the mark in 11-runner handicap hurdle (6/1) at Exeter (18.5f, good) 4 days ago, readily. Most likely more to come and much respected under a penalty. Won readily by 10l at Exeter on Friday; commands respect under 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (22/1 -57%) Dixie Cowboy |
22/1(-57%) | (14) Dixie Cowboy 22/1, Maiden Irish pointer who has made little impact in a trio of starts over hurdles. Worth market check now switched to a handicap. Moves up in trip for this handicap debut and market support will make him of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (20/1 -344%) Saint Bibiana |
20/1(-344%) | (1) Saint Bibiana 20/1, Fair bumper winner for Kim Bailey who showed herself to be on a fair opening mark when second in 7-runner C&D handicap 19 days ago. Must enter calculations from only 1 lb higher. Came from off the pace for clear second over C&D on recent handicap debut; shortlisted. |

First run for yard after leaving Matt Sheppard. Claimed after finishing third in a seller last month; Harry Cobden booked for stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (9/1 +25%) Ginger Jonny |
9/1(+25%) | (12) Ginger Jonny 9/1, Point winner who ran to only a poor level again when fifth of 15 in novice hurdle (10/1) at Huntingdon (19.6f, heavy) 37 days ago, needing stiffer test. May make more impact now switched to a handicap. Showed only glimmers of promise in maiden hurdles but improvement possible in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (12/1 +14%) Nimbus Boy |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (11/1 -10%) Tigger |
11/1(-10%) | (7) Tigger 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden who shaped better than the distance beaten suggests when fifth of 8 in a novice hurdle at Taunton (19f, heavy, 28/1) 54 days ago. Into handicaps now and remains capable of better. Shaped with promise in two novice hurdles at start of this year; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (16/1 -78%) Blazing Court |
16/1(-78%) | (4) Blazing Court 16/1, Not disgraced when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, good to soft) in November, plugging on. Needs to find a bit more for win purposes returning from a break. Made the frame in two of first three handicaps; each-way claims if tuned up after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (33/1 -200%) Mountain Pass |
33/1(-200%) | (3) Mountain Pass 33/1, Shaped with some encouragement on his Doncaster hurdling debut back in November but has gone the wrong way since and has plenty to prove in first-time cheekpieces. Well beaten in first two handicaps; cheekpieces now added; has a lot to prove. |

Second in Hexham maiden on stable debut but a well-beaten outsider in two handicaps since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having run out a ready winner at Exeter on Friday, CAPTAIN WALLACE proved a different proposition on faster ground conditions. The gelded son of Milan looks more than capable of defying a 7lb penalty and a quick turnaround may be the only thing that stands in his way. Mermaids Cave is an intriguing contender on her stable bow for James Owen and an improved bid wouldn't be a surprise, while first-time cheekpieces could get Mountain Pass travelling with more verve.
CAPTAIN WALLACE opened his account in ready fashion at Exeter last week and, with more to come, he's the percentage call to follow up under a penalty. Tigger remains capable of better now switched to a handicap, with Saint Bibiana completing the shortlist following a good second over C&D recently.
It's very easy to see the appeal of CAPTAIN WALLACE, who posted a much improved performance to win by 10l at Exeter on Friday.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (200/1 -203%) Kilberry |
200/1(-203%) | (14) Kilberry 200/1, Looks one for the longer term. Struggled when 100-1 for last month's hurdle debut at Taunton (2m); moves up in trip here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Lord Maid was quite taking when opening her account in a Clonmel maiden hurdle in February and she looks the type who could progress now under the tutelage of Tom Lacey. However, RIALANNAH, who finishing a close-up second at Market Rasen last month, receives 7lb from the six-year-old, and that weight difference could prove key. Floating Line is entitled to build on her hurdles bow fourth at Kempton in November and she completes the shortlist.
THE LORD MAID created a good impression when winning easily on her hurdling debut at Clonmel in February and, with more to come back up in trip for her new yard, she's fancied to defy a penalty. Floating Line and Rialannah head the dangers in that order.
Preference is for RIALANNAH, who stuck to her task well when second at Market Rasen last month and probably still has more to offer.

4/1(+60%) | (5) High Treason 4/1, Placed in 2 bumpers last spring and returned from wind surgery to make it third time lucky over hurdles in 19f Fontwell novice in February. Highly tried on handicap debut at Sandown and while this represents a drop in class, others make more appeal on balance. Merely midfield on handicap debut at Sandown but in hot race; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (17/2 +15%) Nothin To Ask |
17/2(+15%) | (7) Nothin To Ask 17/2, Hit the ground running over fences last term, bagging handicaps at Chepstow and Doncaster. No show 3 starts so far this season but has undergone wind op and resumes in this sphere on a potentially handy mark, so there is cause for optimism. Has struggled over fences this season but a wind op may prompt a revival; attractive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (33/1 +34%) Elham Valley |
33/1(+34%) | (9) Elham Valley 33/1, Landed Stratford seller in September for Fergal O'Brien but well held all 3 subsequent starts for John Cornwall. Opposable back up in trip on first run for another new yard. Unable to threaten last October/November; may be best watched on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (16/1 +20%) Rare Clouds |
16/1(+20%) | (11) Rare Clouds 16/1, Was knocking on the door prior to deservedly winning a 7-runner Wincanton handicap (21.4f, heavy) in January. Poor both starts since, though, and now finds himself with a bit to prove. 2m5f win in January and the drop back in trip could help, but pulled up the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (66/1 -65%) Rathmacknee |
66/1(-65%) | (10) Rathmacknee 66/1, Mixed record for Nicky Henderson last season, winning twice but also pulled up on 3 occasions. No real impact in a handful of appearances for new connections this time round and he's readily passed over. Didn't run badly on last September's stable debut but well beaten on both starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (18/1 -13%) Seignor Gringo |
18/1(-13%) | (13) Seignor Gringo 18/1, Off the mark over hurdles in claimer at Argentan in November 2022 and showed more than he did on debut for this yard when third at Fakenham (2m, heavy) on latest start in December. This step back up in trip should help but others make more appeal all the same. Under pressure very early when 23l third at Fakenham; not ruled out now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (7/2 +46%) Awaythelad |
7/2(+46%) | (2) Awaythelad 7/2, Runner-up in a decent Lingfield handicap before landing maiden/novice events around 21f at Ludlow and Leicester in January. Pulled up in a valuable Grade 3 handicap at Sandown last time but this is a more realistic assignment. Pulled up in Sandown handicap last time but that was a hot race; improved form previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (5/1 +50%) Elogio |
5/1(+50%) | (4) Elogio 5/1, Wide-margin winner of Aintree bumper on debut/sole start for Richard Bandey in November 2022. Fair form over hurdles for current yard, off the mark in this sphere at Wetherby on Boxing Day, but he was well held in a first-time visor (retained here) at Lingfield next time. Disappointing in visor at Lingfield in January but this 5yo won at Wetherby previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (7/2 +42%) Tommy Time |
7/2(+42%) | (8) Tommy Time 7/2, Useful bumper winner in Ireland who didn't need to run to that level to make a successful hurdling debut at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) in October. Not disgraced in 3 subsequent starts and he needs considering on this handicap debut. Lightly raced bumper and maiden hurdle winner who could have potential off opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 +38%) Clear The Runway |
10/1(+38%) | (6) Clear The Runway 10/1, Highly progressive hurdler/chaser in 2022 but efforts last year lacked spark and he's probably best watched here following an 8-month absence. Has tumbled down the weights but he struggled last year; returns from some time off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (25/1 -56%) Fenna's Loss |
25/1(-56%) | (12) Fenna's Loss 25/1, Fair hurdler who scored at Hexham last summer. Good second back at that course in September but pulled up both subsequent starts and he needs to bounce back. Of interest on good-ground form; goes well fresh; could be a player if conditions suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (40/1 -233%) Finisk River |
40/1(-233%) | (3) Finisk River 40/1, :Scored 4 times around 2½m in 2022. Back to form from reduced mark when second of 7 in handicap at Bangor in September but wasn't in the same form at Musselburgh 2 months later and absent since. 11yo who returns from some time off; claims will be boosted if he's on good ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MR BRAMLEY has looked a decent prospect in his two hurdle victories to date and an opening mark of 121 looks workable enough for him to complete a hat-trick. High Treason will find this much more suitable than the ultra-competitive EBF Final at Sandown last time out, while handicap debutant Tommy Time also looks capable of playing a prominent role.
With the promise of more to come from the unexposed MR BRAMLEY now that he ventures down the handicap route, the 6-y-o is taken to maintain his 100% record over hurdles. Fellow handicap debutant Tommy Time could be the one to follow him home, while Awaythelad, who will find this easier than the race he contested at Sandown last time, and Nothin To Ask (resumes over hurdles on an attractive mark) are best of the rest.
Topweight MR BRAMLEY (nap) makes his handicap debut having won his first two hurdle starts, and he can land the hat-trick

Captain's Pick |
(13) (14/1 -17%)14/1(-17%) | (13) Captain's Pick 14/1, Runner-up in a bumper in Ireland last summer but hasn't achieved a great deal in a bumper and 3 starts over hurdles. Hopes rest on switch to handicaps. Fair fourth in Plumpton maiden this month; opening handicap mark demands improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (8) (7/2 +36%) Nordic Tiger |
7/2(+36%) | (8) Nordic Tiger 7/2, French import who is firmly on the up, winning back-to-back handicaps within a week in February and losing little in defeat when second of 5 over 20.5f a month later. Another bold bid firmly on the cards. Dual winner in February; no match for winner when second in March but remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 +9%) Kaleb |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Kaleb 5/1, Held in strong handicaps around the turn of the year but fitted with blinkers eased in class, he was probably going to finish second but for a late fall at Plumpton. Big player from the same mark. Has developed a tendency to race lazily but is on a good mark and enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (20/1 -25%) Pozo Emery |
20/1(-25%) | (12) Pozo Emery 20/1, Promising novice hurdler for Paul Nicholls in 2021. Pulled up in 2 chase starts for new yard since returning from a long absence and dropping in the weights without looking ready to take advantage over timber. Largely disappointing since returning this season from mammoth absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (13/2 +59%) Allbetsoff |
13/2(+59%) | (11) Allbetsoff 13/2, Bagged his third win of 2023 in 6-runner Huntingdon claimer (15.8f) in November prior to a lesser effort returned to handicaps back at that venue later that month. Off since and back over a new trip. Won three 2m hurdles in 2023 but absent since below-par run in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/4 +63%) Klitschko |
9/4(+63%) | (4) Klitschko 9/4, Debut bumper winner and looked to be going the right way over hurdles, successful at Plumpton in February 2023. Backward step at Doncaster last month but heavy ground may have been against him. Struggled on heavy ground last time but a big player if judged on earlier Warwick second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (15/2 +25%) Letthedustsettle |
15/2(+25%) | (10) Letthedustsettle 15/2, Came good over hurdles at the fifth attempt at Catterick (2m) in January and easily defied a penalty at the same C&D 9 days later. Gave something like his running once again when third at Plumpton (25f, soft) but he pulled up at Exeter latest. Has shown big improvement this year but needs to bounce back from a poor performance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (9/1 +0%) Basford |
9/1(+0%) | (6) Basford 9/1, Bumper winner who scored 4 times over hurdles last summer, producing a dominant display in handicap company at Southwell (3m). Good run of form came to a halt at Perth in August and he's been off the track since. Usual headgear left off. Triple hurdle winner in early part of season but absent since poor performance last August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (16/1 -78%) Yes Indeed |
16/1(-78%) | (3) Yes Indeed 16/1, Fairly useful winning chaser in France and some decent placed efforts for this yard. Jumped poorly at Haydock in March and this his first hurdles outing for 3 years. On tempting mark for this return to hurdling but has been out of form over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (50/1 -25%) Kerosine Light |
50/1(-25%) | (5) Kerosine Light 50/1, Three wins for this yard in summer 2022 but off for 9 months prior to finishing a remote fifth at Uttoxeter last May and also pulled up on March's return to action. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Triple hurdle winner in 2022 but seems to have lost his way; headgear switched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (80/1 -100%) Nelson River |
80/1(-100%) | (7) Nelson River 80/1, Caused a surprise when taking 4-runner novice at Leicester on debut over fences in February 2022. Went the wrong way over fences later that year and recent AW efforts hardly brimming with promise. In poor form in low-grade AW handicaps this year; has too much to prove on hurdle return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Nordic Tiger was somewhat underwhelming when a well-beaten second at Plumpton last month and the five-year-old may be in the grip of the handicapper at present. With that in mind, it may pay to go for last-time-out Hereford scorer INTIMATE. Venetia Williams' gelding ran out a decisive winner on that occasion and not even a 10lb hike in the ratings may be enough to prevent him from following up. Kaleb looks to have a bigger performance in him and the son of Sir Percy is a viable alternative to the selection.
KALEB was set to show improved form (booked for second) until a late unseat at Plumpton when last seen in February and from the same mark, he can confirm himself to be well handicapped. Billy Boi Blue is a likely improver now allotted a mark, with Nordic Tiger expected to be on the premises again.
The suggestion is KLITSCHKO, who disappointed on heavy ground last month but was a very creditable second over 2m two starts ago.

Freethinker |
(9) (40/1 -100%)40/1(-100%) | (9) Freethinker 40/1, Dual winner at Newcastle in early-2022 but well below par all 5 outings since, including over fences on last 3 occasions, falling latest. Seems badly to have lost his way over hurdles and fences during the last year or so. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (16/1 -45%) Urban Soldier |
16/1(-45%) | (3) Urban Soldier 16/1, Modest form at best for Paul Nicholls but, having attracted support, shaped quite well when third in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster in December. Stopped too quickly for comfort at Huntingdon since and cheekpieces now on. Flopped last time but of interest if judged on promising seasonal/stable/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/4 +86%) Jeteye |
9/4(+86%) | (6) Jeteye 9/4, Hints of promise in his qualifying runs and a tongue tie is now fitted up in trip for this handicap debut. Pulled up on handicap debut but remains unexposed; watch the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (11/1 -100%) Rumble B |
11/1(-100%) | (10) Rumble B 11/1, Arrives on the back of small-field wins at Sedgefield and Hexham in recent months and a subsequent 4 lb rise leaves him competitive with stamina assured. Was a longstanding maiden until winning his last two races (3m3f/2m7f); more needed again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -9%) Nickelforce |
6/1(-9%) | (4) Nickelforce 6/1, Built on previous promise to get off the mark in 12-runner handicap hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, soft) in January. Raised 6 lb and posted a fair effort in his follow-up bid when third upped to 23.5f at Ascot. Placed off today's mark at Ascot since breakthrough win at Plumpton in January; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 +0%) Golden Ambition |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Golden Ambition 16/1, Promise on 2 of his 3 starts in novice/maiden hurdles but failed to improve for switch to handicap company at Kempton and has followed that with a couple of very tame efforts. Blinkers on trying 3m for the first time. Respectable fifth on handicap debut in February but well beaten twice since; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/2 +31%) Faded Fantasy |
11/2(+31%) | (5) Faded Fantasy 11/2, Opened his account in a 20.4f maiden here last summer. Unable to match that form since, albeit a runner-up effort over C&D (30 lengths behind the winner) was more like it. Stamina for a well-run 3m isn't set in stone but he needs considering. Remote when second over C&D this month but today's quicker ground ought to suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (18/1 +10%) Unspeakable |
18/1(+10%) | (11) Unspeakable 18/1, Much improved to win 3m Taunton handicap hurdle in March 2023 but nowhere near that level in his 4 outings since. Narrow winner at Taunton last season but out of form this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (50/1 -150%) Mizuma |
50/1(-150%) | (12) Mizuma 50/1, Just bits and pieces of form in Ireland and comfortably held in 3 chases for new yard. Back up in trip with headgear on. Safely held in three 2m3f chases for new stable this season; back hurdling today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (14/1 -56%) Just Call Me Al |
14/1(-56%) | (13) Just Call Me Al 14/1, Won 3 times in 2021/22 season. Drawn blank since but signs he can do something from his reduced mark when second over 3m at Musselburgh in December. Bit disappointing at Sedgefield since. Regressive veteran; runner-up on penultimate outing but not the percentage call here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (4/1 -60%) Mahler Moon |
4/1(-60%) | (1) Mahler Moon 4/1, In top hands and starting to get his act together over hurdles, placed in handicaps at Doncaster and Newbury in 2024. Nudged up 2 lb but he enters calculations. 0-7 over hurdles but placed twice since upped to 3m and fitted with cheekpieces; a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (20/1 -150%) Royal Defender |
20/1(-150%) | (2) Royal Defender 20/1, Point winner who left his hurdling debut form behind refitted with a tongue strap when third in 8-runner novice at Lingfield (2m) in November. Tailed off in much stronger company at Cheltenham and having been allotted a stiff mark, he was well held at Exeter. Up in trip. Struggled to cope with heavy ground on handicap debut; might fare better here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (22/1 -83%) I'm Too Tired |
22/1(-83%) | (8) I'm Too Tired 22/1, Breakthrough success in this sphere came at Sedgefield in January but trailed in last of 8 on the Flat a month later and similarly poor back hurdling at Warwick recently. Hiked up markedly in trip with cheekpieces back on. Off the mark at Sedgefield in January but form has dipped since; up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (125/1 -150%) Clarehill |
125/1(-150%) | (14) Clarehill 125/1, Maiden Irish pointer who hasn't shaped with much encouragement over hurdles as yet. 11 lb out of the weights. Struggled over C&D on handicap debut; effectively 8lb higher today, from out of handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having been hampered by a faller at the first flight, NICKELFORCE didn't enjoy the smoothest of passages on his third-placed finish at Ascot last month. Ben Case's inmate still performed with credit that day and a return to class 5 company may prove fruitful. The hat-trick seeking Rumble B is also sure to prove popular and the veteran may give the selection most to think about, ahead of the in-form Mahler Moon.
Quite a few of these have to prove stamina for 3m but that's no issue for MAHLER MOON, who is now going the right way over hurdles for his leading yard. He's preferred in favour of Rumble B and Nickelforce.
The drying ground will suit FADED FANTASY and he is selected in the hope he can recapture the form of last summer's easy course win.
Ths is the racecard key.
