17:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

There can be little doubt that Hit Mac has the ability to win another race of this nature and his quick reappearance after a respectable fourth at Lingfield on Monday is taken as a hint that he can be expected to go well again. However, NELLIE FRENCH edges preference on these terms and, with regular partner Phil Dennis live to her quirks, the six-year-old is fancied to gain an overdue success. The Tron and Toptime are others to consider.

A few with chances so it could be worth siding with course-winner TOPTIME who has gone well fresh and returns from a lay-off on a handy-looking mark. In-form Hit Mac and C&D winner The Tron appeal as the duo to give Roy Bowring's 5-y-o most to do and can chase him home in that order.

Birkenhead is better than he showed on his return but so is SAAHEQ and he can win on his second run for his new stable.

18:00 Southwell Stakes (Class 5) 11f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

As a half-brother to Irish Derby and St Leger winner Hurricane Lane, it's likely that higher expectations are held of SWEET WILLIAM at some stage. He showed ability in both starts as a three-year-old and he looks to have been found an ideal starting point for his return. Al Asmakh has a fitness edge and is dangerous to underestimate, while Banderas and Saint George also appeal and are recommended as shortlist material.

BANDERAS shaped with abundant promise without being seen to anything like best effect when fifth in a Newcastle maiden late last year and with progress anticipated, he earns the vote to build on that and come out on top. Sweet William, twice a runner-up in novice events last year, can do better again this term and is feared along with Al Asmakh. Newcomer Allo Al Khawaneej demands a market check.

Sweet William ran well in both his runs last season but BANDERAS was a major eyecatcher on debut and may progress past him.

18:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Dubai Jeanius quietly racked up a five-timer over various trips here over the last few months and is respected back at his favourite course. However, he's also gone up 24lb in the handicap since January and arguably faces his stiffest test to date. With that in mind, it might be worth chancing that KAARANAH can find more now he's tried in a hood and dropped back to what might prove to be his optimum distance. Vaccine and Athmad are noted too.

Plenty arrive holding claims and it could just be worth siding with the returning KINGMANIA. She proved more miss than hit last term but ended the campaign with an eye-catching effort in a big-field Newmarket handicap and, starting out for her new yard (has gone well fresh), she could just be the answer from an appealing mark. Francesi, Dubai Jeanius and Athmad are others fancied to figure.

Athmad is at the top of his game but KINGMANIA could benefit from the hood and she can make a winning stable debut.

LTO Selection:

19:00 Southwell Stakes (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Placed on three of her four outings last year, MUBHIJAH looks just the type to improve at three and the step up to a mile is another plus. The daughter of Shamardal is narrowly preferred to Urban Decay, who showed plenty when runner-up on her debut at Kempton in November. Sea Me Dance is another to consider having placed on both starts last season.

URBAN DECAY produced a promising first effort when runner-up over this trip at Kempton in November, and with improvement likely, she can be expected to build on that now with her yard amongst the winners. Mubhijah promises to be suited by this step up to 1m on return and is feared, along with Sea Me Dance.

Mubhijah sets the standard but the once-raced URBAN DECAY may progress past her.

19:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Now that the penny has dropped for CREME DE CACAO after a convincing win at Chelmsford last month, Roger Varian's filly can follow up from feasible opening handicap mark of 71. An eye-catcher on her first run for new connections at Kempton, In The Giving should have plenty more improvement forthcoming, while Nuthatch and Tondeuse can also have a say in proceedings.

CREME DE CACAO looks to have got in lightly for her handicap bow so is fancied to follow up her cosy Chelmsford City success at the chief expense of In The Giving, who shaped well when runner-up at Kempton on her yard debut and is a major threat. Course-scorer Evolicatt is another who can have a say in a competitive handicap.

In The Giving is open to improvement over 7f but WINNARETTA looks the type to do well in handicaps this season.

Giselles Izzy was only narrowly denied over C&D on her most recent outing in February and must enter calculations off 1lb higher. However, AUTUMN FLIGHT was a game winner over this trip at Lingfield last month and narrowly shades the vote, despite having to shoulder a 4lb penalty. Shining Crystal reverts to handicapping and adds further spice to the race.

JENEVER backed up his C&D win with a good placed effort at Kempton last time and looks to have plenty going for him again here. Giselles Izzy has been in great form this winter and looks by far the most pertinent danger, with Autumn Flight perhaps the best of the rest.

Ustath and Gunnerside are high on the list but the progressive JENEVER may be able to record his second C&D success.

20:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A facile winner over C&D last month, it is hard to look past KISS MY FACE, especially given Harry Russell negates most of the gelding's 5lb penalty for that victory courtesy of his 3lb claim. He's taken to continue in a rich vein of form, but Huscari was a game winner over 2m at Lingfield on her latest outing and should not be taken lightly. Wannabe Brave completes the shortlist in first-time cheekpieces.

KISS MY FACE arrives on a roll and can make light of a 5 lb penalty for his emphatic C&D success to complete a four-timer. Low-mileage Huscari is feared most on the back of her Lingfield win, with Wannabe Brave weighted to have a say too if the fitting of cheekpieces have the desired effect.

It makes sense to stick with KISS MY FACE (nap) who comes here on a roll and faces plenty of rivals with questions to answer.
