1st (2) (11/10 +27%) Sign Again |
11/10(+27%) | (2) Sign Again 11/10, £60,000 buy after Irish point win in April and left sole run in bumper behind when winning 4-runner novice hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, good) on hurdles bow 38 days ago. Likely to improve again. Irish point winner; won uncompetitive 2m4f event on hurdle debut but can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/6 -15%) Pigeon House |
5/6(-15%) | (1) Pigeon House 5/6, Won twice over hurdles (at up to 18.2f) for Jessica Harrington and positive start for new stable when runner-up in novice hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Sets a clear standard under a double penalty. Ran respectably on yard debut and has strong claims, despite conceding weight all round. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (18/1 +45%) Alltalknoaction |
18/1(+45%) | (3) Alltalknoaction 18/1, Third sole start in point bumpers/runner-up sole start in points in early-2024. However, well held both starts in maiden hurdles. Has shaped like a stayer and may find one or two of these too strong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (80/1 -60%) Fancy Nancy Pants |
80/1(-60%) | (6) Fancy Nancy Pants 80/1, Well held in 2 bumpers 6 months apart. Hasn't shown much in bumpers and plenty to prove for this hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (250/1 -25%) Dartie Bay |
250/1(-25%) | (4) Dartie Bay 250/1, Dartmouth gelding who offered little in bumpers 5 months apart and in maiden hurdle at Hexham. Hasn't shown much so far and needs to raise game by some way to figure. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (150/1 -50%) Dartmhor |
150/1(-50%) | (5) Dartmhor 150/1, Down the field in 2 bumpers. Low-grade bumper form and good deal to find on this first start over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SIGN AGAIN had plenty in hand when winning by 19 lengths at Plumpton last month and Charlie Longsdon's gelding is very hard to oppose on the back of that performance. The main threat is clearly Pigeon House, who hit the crossbar at Hereford a couple of weeks ago. The rest all have questions to answer, but Monteplex is the pick of them.
A potential match between penalised-winners PIGEON HOUSE and Sign Again, the former taken to resume winning ways.
This looks between Pigeon House and SIGN AGAIN, with preference for Charlie Longsdon's runner, who won well on hurdle debut

1st (5) (10/3 +33%) Paddys Policy |
10/3(+33%) | (5) Paddys Policy 10/3, £45,000 buy after finishing runner-up only outing in Irish points and better for Rules debut (in bumper) when third of 11 in novice hurdle at this C&D (good to soft) on hurdles bow 30 days ago. Likely to improve. Has shown ability and, although a stiffer stamina test may suit, he's a player in this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/4 +57%) Broderick |
6/4(+57%) | (1) Broderick 6/4, Has shaped well on both runs in this sphere, latterly a running-on ninth of 12 in novice hurdle at Carlisle (17.2f, good to soft) 37 days ago. Open to a fair bit of progress and likely player. Not disgraced on either start over hurdles and is the type to do better in this sphere.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/4 -209%) Blackwater Lilly |
9/4(-209%) | (8) Blackwater Lilly 9/4, Improved from bumper debut when runner-up at Uttoxeter/Kelso and would have made a winning hurdles debut but for conceding first run at Newcastle last month. Can make amends. Showed more than enough on hurdle debut at Newcastle to suggest she has strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (13/2 +13%) Red Cadillac |
13/2(+13%) | (6) Red Cadillac 13/2, Made the frame on both bumper outings last season but just modest form in a couple of maiden hurdles. Has shown ability; will be suited by handicaps but isn't without a chance in this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (22/1 -22%) Diamond Mix |
22/1(-22%) | (2) Diamond Mix 22/1, No real impact in bumpers 7 months apart and similar story both starts over hurdles. No more than a hint of ability so far and probably best watched again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (200/1 -33%) Stress Reaction |
200/1(-33%) | (7) Stress Reaction 200/1, Runner-up sole outing in point bumpers but has offered little in a Wetherby bumper and 2 maiden hurdles. Hasn't shown enough to suggest he's the one to be on this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (125/1 -25%) Didntgotwenty |
125/1(-25%) | (3) Didntgotwenty 125/1, Unplaced both starts in Irish points and well held both starts over hurdles this autumn. Hasn't shown enough over hurdles to suggest he's of much interest on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (33/1 +59%) Follow The Leader |
33/1(+59%) | (4) Follow The Leader 33/1, Sholokhov gelding. Brother to fairly useful 19f hurdle winner Stranger Danger. Dam, little promise over hurdles/sole start over fences, French 9f-1½m winner on Flat. Pulled up sole start in points (Mar 2024). Pulled up in point on debut in spring and off since; best watched in hood on yard debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BLACKWATER LILLY arrives here on the back of another second on her hurdling debut at Newcastle a month ago and Brian Ellison's filly appears to have been found an ideal opportunity to go one better. Paddys Policy was third to a useful rival over C&D last time and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Broderick completes the shortlist.
BLACKWATER LILLY was unlucky not to make a winning debut in this sphere at Newcastle and is fancied to make amends. Broderick and Paddys Policy both have potential and can fill the places.
The one who makes most appeal is BLACKWATER LILLY, who showed enough on her hurdle debut at Newcastle to suggest she's the one to beat.

1st (5) (13/8 +64%) I'm Too Tired |
13/8(+64%) | (5) I'm Too Tired 13/8, Breakthrough success over hurdles came here in January. Decent third here on return and offered something to work on sent chasing at Musselburgh 4 weeks ago. Hurdle winner here and shaped with a degree of encouragement on chase debut last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (16/5 -16%) Fearless Action |
16/5(-16%) | (4) Fearless Action 16/5, Hails from a yard enjoying its best spell in a while and ran well after 10 months off when second at Carlisle, collared close home having quickened clear between last 2. However, folded tamely at Hexham 2 weeks ago when fancied to go one better so questions to answer now. Change of headgear. Not had much racing since sole win and latest run may have come too quickly; now visored. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (18/1 +28%) Omaha Wish |
18/1(+28%) | (2) Omaha Wish 18/1, Opened her account over fences at Fakenham (16.3f) in June. Fell next time and disappointing since, including both starts for this yard. Point winner who scored over regulation fences in summer; disappointing since, though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2/1 +50%) Hokelami |
2/1(+50%) | (3) Hokelami 2/1, Bagged handicap chases at Market Rasen and here last term and better for return when fourth at Lingfield. Ridden too aggressively in this headgear there last week. Dual chase winner early this year but has been below that level since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
FEARLESS ACTION failed to fire at Hexham last time but the eight-year-old could be hard to beat in this company if a first-time visor sparks a return to form. I'm Too Tired has made the frame on his last couple of starts and could make his presence felt once again, while Flash Du Pistolet is another with valid form claims in an open event.
I'M TOO TIRED offered something to work on when third on chase debut at Musselburgh so could be the answer in a weak race. Chase/handicap debutant Wild Grouse may emerge as the biggest threat.
This can go to I'M TOO TIRED, whose best hurdle form was at this venue and who shaped encouragingly on his chase debut last time.

1st (8) (6/1 -9%) Achnamara |
6/1(-9%) | (8) Achnamara 6/1, Fair handicapper on Flat who landed back-to-back 2m handicaps at Catterick/Musselburgh in July and posted best effort in this sphere when close second over C&D last month. Third quick run might have been too much for him since. Creditable effort over hurdles on penultimate run but well beaten latest; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (16/1 +0%) Prince Nino |
16/1(+0%) | (12) Prince Nino 16/1, Form only in last 12 months when third at Perth on penultimate start. Others much more solid. Dual hurdle winner in 2023 but form patchy since and pulled up when last seen; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/1 +65%) Powerofjet |
7/1(+65%) | (7) Powerofjet 7/1, 5-y-o who finished third only start in points and best effort over hurdles when fourth in 11-runner Carlisle maiden (17f). Well held on handicap bow here next time, however. Not done much under rules but should appreciate the step up in trip and one to note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/1 +31%) Mr Sundancer |
11/1(+31%) | (3) Mr Sundancer 11/1, Off the mark over hurdles at Downpatrick (17.7f) in August prior to a good fourth at Wexford later that month. However, below par since, including both starts for this yard. Below best for this yard; ground here should suit better than last time and can't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (18/1 -29%) Simply Red |
18/1(-29%) | (1) Simply Red 18/1, All 4 career victories have come at Bangor, landing a brace in summer 2023 for Donald McCain. However, struggled on Flat/over hurdles for Mark Walford earlier this year and no promise starting out for this yard at Musselburgh last month when well backed. Yet to win away from Bangor and disapppointing in 2024; only of interest if market speaks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (9/2 +18%) Miss Applejack |
9/2(+18%) | (11) Miss Applejack 9/2, A fair bumper winner who responded well to first-time headgear/tongue strap when off the mark over hurdles at the tenth attempt at Southwell early this month and claims with a repeat. Won over similar trip in this headgear at Southwell last time; 8lb rise makes life tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (5/2 +29%) Knacker Trapper |
5/2(+29%) | (6) Knacker Trapper 5/2, Off the mark over 20.4f at Southwell in May and has returned from a break in good order, placed in handicaps at this C&D and Wetherby. In a higher grade than necessary here last time and can bounce back. Has conditions to suit and has run well over C&D from this mark; last run worked out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (22/1 -57%) Leader Wing |
22/1(-57%) | (9) Leader Wing 22/1, A fair bumper winner for Tom Weston but yet to match that form in this sphere, showing his first form over hurdles when fifth of 8 in novice at this C&D (soft) 20 days ago. Opening mark demands further improvement. Headgear applied. Good-ground bumper winner who turned in best hurdle run over C&D last time; headgear on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (12/1 +0%) Robin Goodfellow |
12/1(+0%) | (13) Robin Goodfellow 12/1, Poor maiden handicap hurdler who has made a respectable start for this yard but step forward needed if he's to bag that elusive first success. 3 lb out of handicap. Has run respectably at up to this trip; work to do to win this from 3lb out of handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (12/1 -20%) Mister Moodles |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Mister Moodles 12/1, Yet to hit top form this term, running poorly after 5 months off at Musselburgh 17 days ago. Visor on. Others are preferred. Good-ground hurdle winner over a year ago; below that level since and now tried in a visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (50/1 +24%) Foshan |
50/1(+24%) | (14) Foshan 50/1, Poor on Flat and no form over hurdles. 6 lb out of handicap. Low-grade maiden who makes no appeal from 6lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (20/1 +0%) Spantik |
20/1(+0%) | (2) Spantik 20/1, Mostly below par on the Flat this year and well held on his first hurdling start for almost 2 years at Musselburgh last month. Has won over C&D but infrequent winner these days and well beaten back hurdling last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (25/1 -56%) Bollin Neil |
25/1(-56%) | (4) Bollin Neil 25/1, Flat/hurdles winner but hasn't looked the force of old since returning from a long absence in September. 3m1f heavy-ground hurdle winner; beaten a long way last time; opposable back down in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Not the deepest contest despite a healthy field size, and preference is for MISS APPLEJACK. Charlie Longsdon's mare benefitted from a drop in trip and the application of first-time cheekpieces/tongue-tie (retained) when on target at Southwell earlier this month. She pulled well clear with the runner-up that day, so a subsequent 8lb rise might not be as harsh as it may seem. Market support for handicap debutant Hill Of Scarriff would be noteworthy, while others to consider include Mr Sundancer and Knacker Trapper.
KNACKER TRAPPER was in a higher grade than necessary when fifth here last time and remains of interest back in calmer waters. Hill of Scarriff looks the type who will improve now switched to handicaps so is feared most ahead of Miss Applejack and Achnamara.
The suggestion is POWEROFJET, who has only hinted at ability over hurdles but he should do better up in trip on second handicap run.

1st (7) (7/1 -17%) Tom Creen |
7/1(-17%) | (7) Tom Creen 7/1, Back-to-back winner here last season and good efforts in defeat back at this course this term. Should be in the mix again. Seems to like it at this venue but may find one or two too good back in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/8 +35%) Yealand |
13/8(+35%) | (1) Yealand 13/8, Won 2 of his 7 starts (at up to 20.3f) last season and all the better for return when making a winning chase bow at Doncaster 2 weeks ago with a bit in hand. Can defy a 4 lb rise. Stepped up on hurdle form when making a winnig chase debut at Doncaster; claims up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (7/2 +30%) The Paddy Pie |
7/2(+30%) | (8) The Paddy Pie 7/2, Strong in the betting when belatedly taking advantage of his much-reduced mark here 3 weeks ago and 5 lb rise not insurmountable. Back to winning ways over 2m5f here last time; down in trip and back up 5lb but a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (20/1 -233%) Fete Champetre |
20/1(-233%) | (4) Fete Champetre 20/1, Hasn't stood much racing in recent seasons but he won at Musselburgh around this time last year. Not in same form at Doncaster in February on only run since (final start for Rose Dobbin). Off since February and may be one to watch on first start for this trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (15/2 -15%) Heritier |
15/2(-15%) | (3) Heritier 15/2, Back to winning ways in 19f Carlisle handicap and not disgraced when fourth off the same mark there 10 days later. Respected back in this sphere. Better chaser than hurdler; 6lb higher than when second in this last year; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (22/1 -175%) Kaproyale |
22/1(-175%) | (2) Kaproyale 22/1, Dual winner in hunters last season and resumed winning ways in similar event at Stratford when last seen in May. Looks on a nice mark back in a handicap for new trainer. Fine strike-rate in points/hunter chases; interesting runner after break on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (17/2 +39%) Gandhi Maker |
17/2(+39%) | (5) Gandhi Maker 17/2, C&D winner in January (final start for Stuart Coltherd). Just as good when second at Hexham for Phil Kirby in April but ran poorly back here in May and tailed off when unseated rider 2 out on yard debut/return at Newcastle last month. Dual chase winner at this venue but failed to complete on last two starts and best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (9/1 -13%) Le Jeune Bresil |
9/1(-13%) | (6) Le Jeune Bresil 9/1, Imposing sort who got off the mark in Irish points at the second attempt. Shaped with plenty of encouragement on his second hurdles start at Wetherby. Well held since but type to make a better chaser. Off 7 months. Makes handicap/chase debut. Point winner with modest completion record over hurdles; may do better in this sphere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
YEALAND made the perfect start to life over fences when winning at Doncaster recently and with plenty of scope for improvement, he can defy a 4lb rise en route to further success. The Paddy Pie was a comfortable winner over 2m5f here last time out and the veteran ought to be a real threat from a 5lb raised mark. Kaproyale heads the remainder.
YEALAND stepped up on his hurdles form at the first attempt when making a winning debut in this sphere with a bit in hand at Doncaster 2 weeks ago and looks capable of defying a 4 lb rise with further improvement forthcoming, Kaproyale looks on a handy mark back in a handicap so is next best ahead of the veteran The Paddy Pie.
A chance is taken with LE JEUNE BRESIL, who pulled up when last seen but he's a point winner who may do better now he goes chasing

1st (1) (9/2 -13%) Salsada |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Salsada 9/2, Useful Flat winner who went close in a handicap hurdle at Hexham (16.2f, good) in October. Has an in-and-out profile and ran no sort of a race at Wetherby next time, but then followed that up with victory over C&D in this grade (won easy and second has won since). Capable if on another going day. Beat Punxsutawney Phil (winner since) over C&D last time and should confirm those placings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 +9%) Foster's Fortune |
5/2(+9%) | (4) Foster's Fortune 5/2, Improved greatly for the switch into handicaps, opening his account at this venue in May (has made the frame in all four starts here) and scoring 20 days ago (17f, soft) decisively. That was a career-best performance and it's unlikely to be the ceiling of his ability now up in trip. Turned in best effort to win over 2m here last time and may be more to come over this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 -50%) Harper Valley |
9/2(-50%) | (3) Harper Valley 9/2, Three hurdles victories (one at this course) and nearly added fourth in a first-time visor at Kelso last month. Up 3 lb for that (visor retained) and gave his running when third to Salsada here 30 days ago (took keen hold, stumbled on home bend, one pace late on). Third in this last year. C&D winner; fair run behind Salsada and Punxsutawney Phil here last time; can get closer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/1 -69%) Matchless |
11/1(-69%) | (2) Matchless 11/1, Fairly useful hurdler who didn't need to be anywhere near that level to land the odds in 4-runner seller at Plumpton (15.9f, good) last month. Faced tougher assignment back in handicap company under penalty when fourth of 6 at Wetherby (19.5f, soft) 29 days ago and bit to find in new headgear. Dual hurdle winner who ran respectably back in a handicap last time; 5lb lower here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 -20%) Romeo Brown |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Romeo Brown 12/1, Long time without a win and hasn't fired yet this season (last seen with seventh of 8 at Doncaster 26 days ago), so others are more persuasive, although does have headgear re-fitted and talented conditional jockey taking over. On a losing run but tumbled in the weights; likely to come good at some point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (12/1 -140%) Punxsutawney Phil |
12/1(-140%) | (5) Punxsutawney Phil 12/1, Sole hurdle success was gained in a maiden over 3 years ago but followed up second behind Salsada by making all (having got first run) in a 0-105 handicap at Musselburgh (24f). Clearly in good heart but this is a tougher race. Back to winning ways over 3m last time; down in trip from 5lb higher mark here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SALSADA put a Wetherby no-show behind her when comfortably accounting for Punxsutawney Phil over C&D and can confirm that superiority on only 2lb worse terms. The runner-up has since gone one better at Musselburgh, although the biggest threat here could come in the shape of Foster's Fortune, who has been progressing really well over shorter. Harper Valley had to settle for third as favourite behind the selection last time, but it would come as no surprise if he at least closed the gap.
This can go to SALSADA who travelled powerfully when scoring over C&D in similar conditions 30 days ago, and judging by the manner of her victory, a 7 lb rise may not be enough to stop her. Foster's Fortune is a standout danger. He loves it here and should relish the step up in trip, although his latest win did come on ground much slower than he will encounter today. It would not be a surprise to see C&D winner Harper Valley run well either.
The one who appeals most is FOSTER'S FORTUNE (nap) who turned in his best effort here last time and this longer trip can suit.

1st (7) (8/15 +57%) Kingston Queen |
8/15(+57%) | (7) Kingston Queen 8/15, Filly by Kingston Hill who cost £80,000 as 4-y-o. Dam unraced sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 21f) Competitive Edge. Won an Irish point and ran third in a Chepstow bumper on stable debut. Backed it up with second at Plumpton 24 days ago, shaping like a stayer. Big player. Point winner who has run well on both bumper starts; should give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/4 +39%) La Zoubida |
11/4(+39%) | (8) La Zoubida 11/4, Cost €70,000 as 3-y-o and is half-sister to French listed hurdler (15f-19f winner) Mister Emily. Yard in great form and is one to monitor for any market support on debut. Half-sister to three winning hurdlers from 2m1f-3m; makes plenty of appeal on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (28/1 -75%) Dotinthedistance |
28/1(-75%) | (5) Dotinthedistance 28/1, First foal: dam, dual winning pointer, sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 25f) Cool Mission (who was third in a bumper on debut), and half-sister to several winners, including fair 2m hurdler Sea Mark. Second foal of a point winner; may find this an insufficient test of stamina on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (25/1 -25%) Blakeley Rise |
25/1(-25%) | (3) Blakeley Rise 25/1, Second foal: dam, placed in points, half-sister to fair hurdle winner/smart chaser (stayed 29f) Soll. Tough ask on debut. Yard's newcomers usually improve for a run; may find this too much of a speed test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (8/1 +50%) Chica Princesa |
8/1(+50%) | (4) Chica Princesa 8/1, Wings of Eagles filly. Half-sister to bumper winner Northern Belle. Should have enough speed, so worth a market check. Half-sister to a bumper winner; interesting to see what the market makes of her on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (25/1 -14%) Hannigan's Power |
25/1(-14%) | (6) Hannigan's Power 25/1, Milan mare. Dam, poor maiden hurdler, sister to fairly useful hurdler (2m-2¾m winner) Leave At Dawn out of hurdle/chase winner up to 2½m Hannigan's Lodger. Unlikely to trouble market principals on first outing. Has several jump winners in pedigree but may find a few too strong on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Lady Kluck cost 75,000 pounds after winning between the flags and built on a satisfactory Ludlow third to break through over C&D. She has obvious claims but will do well to successfully concede weight to KINGSTON QUEEN, who also struck on her sole appearance between the flags and has shaped like an imminent winner when making the frame at Chepstow and Plumpton. Nicky Richards' team is flying so 70,000-euro Authorized filly La Zoubida is worth keeping a close eye on.
KINGSTON QUEEN can make it third time lucky under Rules, following two encouraging efforts since joining this yard. Both Lady Kluck and Arctic Duchess have made the running and could set this race up for the selection, the former is respected having already scored over C&D, while the latter can build on a pleasing debut.
