15:55 Sandown Handicap (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WINDCRACK returned to the turf with a convincing C&D triumph last month and the unexposed daughter of Cracksman is fancied to go in again, despite a 5lb rise. First-time cheekpieces could elicit some improvement from Own Accord, who finished a creditable second at Hamilton on her latest start. She looks the main threat, while others to note include Dreamrocker and Crystal Casque.

Having shown fairly useful form at 3 yrs, FLEURIR left her first start of the current campaign behind when runner-up at Ffos Las 19 days ago and she can build on that effort to resume winning ways. Roger Varian's filly is preferred to Own Accord, who returned to form when second at Hamilton last month, with Windcrack also considered.

The return to 1m suited WINDCRACK when she found plenty over C&D last time and she should still have some potential at the trip.

This race looks pretty tricky but MIASWELL showed enough last time to suggest that he stays this trip and may add to his 1m wins.

(5) Questionable 15/2, Remains a maiden but arrives in good form, showing up well once more when second of 5 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Keen-going nature slightly tempers enthusiasm stepping up in trip but isn't fully discounted.
Maiden; solid profile in handicaps but she's going beyond a mile for the first time.

Nothing to shout about in three novices and again when beaten about 10l on handicap debut.

(3) Umbria 1/1, Progressed from debut when landing a 13-runner novice at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 9/1) on her second start and took another step forward when third on her handicap debut at Kempton (11f) 37 days ago, nearest at the finish in steadily-run contest. That race is working out well and she's highly respected.
