1st (4) (1.75/1 +42%) Libra Tiger |
1.75/1(+42%) | (4) Libra Tiger 1.75/1, Arrives in good nick, second of 11 in handicap at Newbury (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Can go well again nudged up 1 lb. Won over 6f on AW in January; vulnerable since but worth a go over a stiff 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (20/1 +20%) Cabeza De Llave |
20/1(+20%) | (3) Cabeza De Llave 20/1, Won 3 times at 5f in 2022 but off 5 months before coming in last of 11 in handicap at Ascot (5f, good) 85 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Handles a stiff track; looks to have more to come at 5f; could go well after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (3/1 +25%) Sera Dawn |
3/1(+25%) | (2) Sera Dawn 3/1, On the up this term and followed up Nottingham novice success with 5f handicap win at Catterick in April. Posted another solid effort when fourth of 8 at Haydock (5f, good to firm) 33 days ago. Shortlisted. Two 5f wins in April (soft/good to soft); held since; stiff 5f could suit; rain a help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5.5/1 -83%) Just Glamorous |
5.5/1(-83%) | (1) Just Glamorous 5.5/1, Back from 10 months off with win in 6-runner handicap at Salisbury (5f, good to firm) 29 days ago. This C&D scorer merits serious consideration despite a 3 lb rise. C&D winner; successful return; still fair mark off 4lb lower than close C&D 2nd last June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (14/1 +0%) Mary Of Modena |
14/1(+0%) | (6) Mary Of Modena 14/1, Resumed winning ways at Windsor in May but below-form third of 6 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 51 days ago. Sort to bounce back after a break. Often leads; C&D form as 2yo but best handicap form on sharp tracks; won on good and soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (5/1 +9%) Symbol Of Hope |
5/1(+9%) | (5) Symbol Of Hope 5/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. Respectable third of 11 in handicap at Newbury (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Can give another good account. All wins on stiff tracks, the latest two at Bath in May (good and good to soft); involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (8/1 +6%) Dalby Forest |
8/1(+6%) | (7) Dalby Forest 8/1, Got off the mark at Chelmsford City in February. Off 4 months and shaped as if the run was needed when fading fourth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, firm) 15 days ago. Can build on it now. Mostly races on AW, 5f winner in February; stamina to prove with this stiff test. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Just Glamorous returned from a long break to make all at Salisbury and the veteran is only asked to compete off a 3lb higher mark for that display, but he could give way to the younger legs of LIBRA TIGER. The son of Territories has shaped like his time is near when filling the runner-up spot on each of his last three starts, with the latest of those coming at Newbury when he had Symbol of Hope (third) just over a length behind him, so he may be ready to strike off just 1lb higher.
None of these can be ruled out but C&D scorer JUST GLAMOROUS returned from an absence in style at Salisbury and can defy a 3 lb rise in the weights. Libra Tiger is knocking on the door and seems sure to be in the mix once more, with Sera Dawn another who can have a say in her bid for a third success of 2023.
An open race but hardy veteran JUST GLAMOROUS may well follow up his Salisbury win on a track where he's won and gone well in the past.

1st (1) (0.57/1 +37%) Arabian Crown |
0.57/1(+37%) | (1) Arabian Crown 0.57/1, €600,000 yearling, Dubawi colt. Brother to useful winner up to 1m Everest Rose and half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 1½m The Juliet Rose. Failed to justify short-price favouritism but it was still an encouraging debut when third over C&D 3 weeks ago. Lots more to come. 600,000euros yearling; 5-4 favourite for C&D novice (good) and grabbed 3rd of ten late on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (18/1 +0%) Navy Jack |

6/1(-20%) | (6) Juantorena 6/1, Promising individual. Stepped up on debut run when third of 8 in novice event at Haydock (7f, good to firm) 21 days ago. Likely to improve again. Stuck to his task well last time (7f, good) and still open to improvement; leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (100/1 -100%) Dr Foster |
100/1(-100%) | (4) Dr Foster 100/1, Foaled April 10. 14,000 gns yearling, 18,000 gns 2-y-o, Advertise colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart 6f winner Projection and useful 1m/8.3f winner Up In Lights. Dam winner up to 9f (2-y-o 7f/1m winner) 18,000gns 2yo; the yard's two 2yo runners this term have made a splash. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (40/1 -21%) Never Sell |
40/1(-21%) | (10) Never Sell 40/1, Breeze-Up acquisition who showed ability when fourth at Goodwood a month ago despite being very slowly away. More professional at Ascot last time upped to 7f but he didn't really advance his form. Some improvement at Ascot (7f, good to soft) but this race should demand plenty more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Arabian Crown was a massive eye-catcher over C&D on his debut when narrowly failing to justify favouritism and, with normal progression, he is likely to be bang there. However, a chance can be taken on newcomer CITY BURGLAR, who is bred to get better over time but she could have enough class to score over this distance first time out. She has a fantastic pedigree as a daughter of Cracksman and a full-sister to Arabian Queen. Reliant warrants a market check as a half-brother to Mishriff.
ARABIAN CROWN's superb pedigree is an ongoing recommendation and, sure to have derived plenty from his opening third over C&D 3 weeks ago, he could be the way to go. Juantorena is an obvious danger of form while there's a plethora of interesting newcomers to consider, notably Reliant and Highland Spring.
The late gains made by ARABIAN CROWN over C&D earn the vote. Juantorena has a similar RPR. Reliant is half-brother to Mishriff.

1st (8) (2.25/1 +36%) Shuwari |
2.25/1(+36%) | (8) Shuwari 2.25/1, 80,000 gns yearling, New Bay filly. Half-sister to useful 1¼m winner True Scarlet and 2-y-o 7f winner Elusive Artist. Dam winner up to 1¼m. Looked a good prospect when making a winning start in 5-runner novice at Newbury, well on top finish. Sure to progress and win more races. 11-2, overcame slow start and debut inexperience to win Newbury novice (7f, good to firm). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (4/1 +20%) Fallen Angel |
4/1(+20%) | (4) Fallen Angel 4/1, Too Darn Hot filly. Half-sister to useful 1½m winner Divine Jewel. Dam useful 2-y-o 7f/1m (May Hill Stakes) winner. Looked every inch the useful prospect that she's bred to be when winning 7-runner novice at Haydock on debut 62 days ago, impressing with a sharp turn of foot. Needs considering. Favourite, won novice at Haydock (7f, good to firm) two months ago, stretching out nicely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (1.38/1 -53%) Soprano |
1.38/1(-53%) | (9) Soprano 1.38/1, Justified market confidence when making a winning debut at Newmarket and showed useful form when 2 lengths third of 17 to Porta Fortuna in Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot (6f, good to firm) 34 days ago. The one to beat. Looks ready for 7f and very much the one to beat after Newmarket win and Royal Ascot third. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +25%) Gray's Inn |
12/1(+25%) | (5) Gray's Inn 12/1, Getting better with each run, adding to her tally when landing the odds on nursery bow at Chester 2 weeks ago. Much more needed here, however. Seller and nursery winner; moving the right way but this poses much more of a challenge. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 -40%) Expensive Queen |
14/1(-40%) | (3) Expensive Queen 14/1, €260,000 yearling, Lope De Vega filly. Sister to 3 winners, including smart winner up to 1½m Antonia de Vega and useful 2-y-o 1m winner Luckin Brew. Had a bit in hand when making a winning debut at Haydock 3 weeks ago. Bare form looks ordinary but this well-bred filly is sure to improve. Gradually got on top from over 1f out in novice at Haydock (7f, good) three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (22/1 +12%) Eminny |
22/1(+12%) | (2) Eminny 22/1, Confirmed debut promise when winning novice at Beverley (7.4f, good) and didn't have to improve much when following up on nursery bow at Leicester last week. This represents a big step up in class, however. Won 7.4f novice at Beverley and 7f nursery at Leicester but this race demands a lot more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (80/1 -14%) Romanova |
80/1(-14%) | (7) Romanova 80/1, Foaled February 7. 45,000 gns yearling, Golden Horn filly. Half-sister to winner up to 6f Shanghai Rock. Dam, 5f/6f winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to smart winner up to 10.4f Lateen Sails. Stiff task on debut. Golden Horn filly who is hooded on debut, from a yard also responsible for Shuwari. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (66/1 -65%) Lava Stream |
66/1(-65%) | (6) Lava Stream 66/1, Too Darn Hot filly. Dam, winner up to 1¼m (2-y-o 1m winner), half-sister to very smart 1¼m winner Journey out of smart winner up to 15.5f (2-y-o 1¼m winner) Montare. 12/1, 3¼ lengths fourth of 7 to Expensive Queen in novice at Haydock (7f, firm) on debut 20 days ago, slowly away. Plenty to find. 4th in Haydock novice (7f, good) was promising but fellow newcomer Expensive Queen won it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (80/1 -264%) The African Queen |
80/1(-264%) | (10) The African Queen 80/1, The Last Lion filly. Dam 1¼m-1½m winner. Overcame inexperience to justify strong support in 4-runner maiden (11/8) at Brighton (7f, good) on debut 16 days ago, comfortably. That looked a weak event, however, and plenty more on her plate here. 11-8 favourite for 4-runner maiden at Brighton (7f, good to firm) and comfortably made all. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
SOPRANO sets a pretty lofty standard in this contest after her third in the Albany at Royal Ascot and that race is working out extremely well, with the second and fourth subsequently winning Group 2 contests. The daughter of Starspangledbanner could also improve for the step up in distance and she is very hard to oppose. Fallen Angel scored on debut at Haydock and is likely to progress to fight it out for the places, along with Expensive Queen.
SOPRANO backed up her impressive winning debut at Newmarket with a useful third in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and sets a high standard down in class. Shuwari and Fallen Angel both looked good prospects when scoring first-time out at Newbury and Haydock respectively so are feared most.
The standard set by SOPRANO is high thanks to her Group 3 third at Royal Ascot and that performance also suggests she will stay 7f.

1st (1) (2/1 -23%) Nothing To Sea |
2/1(-23%) | (1) Nothing To Sea 2/1, Shaped well only start at 2yrs and all the better for reappearance run when opening his account under an enterprising ride in a Newbury maiden (10f) in May. Upped further in trip for handicap debut and highly likely he can do better again for his very good yard. Comfortably made all in maiden at Newbury (1m2f, good; clear lead long way) ten weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 +60%) Brave Knight |
2/1(+60%) | (5) Brave Knight 2/1, As expected, he stepped up 2-y-o exploits when making a winning return/handicap debut upped to 11.4f at Windsor. Never figured at Leicester next time but better effort when fifth in 12-runner Newbury handicap (12f) 6 days ago. Likely he'll stay 1¾m provided he settles better. Creditable, rallying 5th of 12 at Newbury (1m4f, good) last Saturday; extra 2f could suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 +11%) Cool Party |
16/1(+11%) | (3) Cool Party 16/1, Progressive dual winner at around 1m as a juvenile but not yet kicked on in trio of starts so far this term, disappointing down in class when fourth in 5-runner Beverley handicap (12f) 47 days ago. Has been gelded since however, and cheekpieces now go on. One to note if strong in betting. Heading the wrong way this term; gelded, headgear and a new trip; stamina in his pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 -17%) Another Run |
7/1(-17%) | (4) Another Run 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden who was progressive in 3 starts on AW and returned to pick of that form when just touched off in handicap at Doncaster (11.9f) 2 starts back, despite hanging badly right. Shade underwhelming back in maiden company at Goodwood since, however. Fair maiden; not so good trying 1m6f latest; trainer won last three runnings of this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (3/1 -50%) Hidden Story |
3/1(-50%) | (2) Hidden Story 3/1, Dubawi gelding who confirmed debut promise when opening his account at the third attempt in a Newcastle novice (10.2f) in June. Similar form when close-up fourth on handicap debut at Newmarket (12f) earlier this month Respected on latest form (1m4f at Newmarket) and he shaped as if he'd stay 1m6f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
NOTHING TO SEA has a likeable, progressive profile and he had a subsequent easy winner toiling back in third when winning his maiden over 1m2f at Newbury in May. The See The Moon gelding could improve again now upped half a mile in trip and an opening handicap mark of 91 looks workable. He can see off the likes of Hidden Story, who was a shade disappointing when sent off favourite at Newmarket recently, and Sir Mark Prescott's Brave Knight.
Off the mark in novice company at Newcastle 2 starts back, HIDDEN STORY ran to a similar level when finishing a close-up fourth on handicap debut at Newmarket (12f) earlier this month and, with this even longer trip expected to be within range, he shades the vote to come out on top. Nothing To Sea, on handicap bow, and Brave Knight head the dangers.
Hidden Story looks a solid option but it's also possible to be swayed by NOTHING TO SEA's front-running win in May.

1st (10) (4/1 +60%) Sayf Al Dawla |
4/1(+60%) | (10) Sayf Al Dawla 4/1, Progressive in 2021, winning 1 of his 5 starts and ending year with creditable third of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f, 4/1). Not seen for 21 months, however, and market may prove best guide to claims on return. Unraced since 2021 but has a competitive mark if returning on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (10/1 +50%) Wind Your Neck In |
10/1(+50%) | (6) Wind Your Neck In 10/1, Struggled in all 3 starts last year and while his reappearance second at Bath represented a step back in the right direction, he hasn't threatened in either start since. Won twice on soft as 2yo; only once (2023 return) in the shake-up from six starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (25/1 -79%) Stately Home |
25/1(-79%) | (12) Stately Home 25/1, Made a winning reappearance at Kempton (8f) in March but hasn't really kicked on from that and arrives on back of below-par effort at Chester. Close fifth of 15 in May came over 1m2f; failed to back that up when next seen 12 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 -20%) Croeso Cymraeg |
6/1(-20%) | (5) Croeso Cymraeg 6/1, C&D winner who got back on the scoreboard when taking 7-runner handicap at Salisbury (12f, soft, 13/2) 12 days ago, kept up to work. Remains fairly treated and must enter calculations. Last three wins were over 1m4f (latest 12 days ago) but he's in each-way calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (14) (22/1 -57%) Solanna |
22/1(-57%) | (14) Solanna 22/1, Likeable type who scored at Yarmouth and Lingfield over this trip before running a cracker in far deeper race at Newbury in May. Found run of good form coming to a halt at York latest but could well bounce back here. Failed to fire on latest outing but perhaps good to firm ground played a part. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (4.5/1 +25%) Tuxedo Junction |
4.5/1(+25%) | (3) Tuxedo Junction 4.5/1, Yet to score outside maiden company but has largely acquitted himself in defeat this term, latest when third of 5 in handicap at Ffos Las (10f, good, 8/1) 23 days ago, hampered. Cheekpieces now added and likely to give another good account. Ran creditably at 1m2f for minor honours in three of four starts this term; first headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (6/1 -71%) Sweet Reward |
6/1(-71%) | (1) Sweet Reward 6/1, C&D winner who returned to form when taking 7-runner handicap at Epsom (10.1f, good) 22 days ago, having run of race. 3 lb rise fair and is a likely contender. Good course record has been dented, including penultimate start; 2nd and 1st either side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (33/1 -65%) Cap Francais |
33/1(-65%) | (2) Cap Francais 33/1, Scored on the Rowley Mile on return last season but ended campaign poorly and hasn't fared any better in a trio of outings this term. Hard to fancy. Out of form this season; wore first headgear (cheekpieces) last time, now sports a visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (7.5/1 +0%) Botas |
7.5/1(+0%) | (11) Botas 7.5/1, Multiple winner in France who had made an encouraging start for current yard, latest when second of 12 in handicap at Ascot (8f, good, 20/1) 13 days ago. Worth a crack at this longer trip and merits consideration. Solid start to British career with two places at 1m; needs to prove himself over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (6/1 +57%) Prophet's Dream |
6/1(+57%) | (7) Prophet's Dream 6/1, Lightly-raced 4-y-o but progressive in handicaps, displaying a very willing attitude when supplementing his Bath success at Leicester (10f) in May. However, found things tougher in deeper contest at Pontefract since and this doesn't look any easier. Won twice from the front over 1m2f in May; disappointing show last month; now tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (9/1 -80%) Paris Lights |
9/1(-80%) | (4) Paris Lights 9/1, Sole success to date came on AW last winter but has only had 4 starts for current yard and posted solid second over this trip at Lingfield last time. Running well at 1m2f on Lingfield AW, with a lesser show on turf (1m4f) penultimate start. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Some fairly in-and-out performers, including last-time-out winners Sweet Reward and Croeso Cymraeg, make this a tricky puzzle to try and solve. BOTAS has hit the frame on both of his starts since joining the Jim Boyle yard, each over 1m. The Footstepsinthesand gelding kept on well at Ascot last time, taking second late on, so this longer trip could unlock some improvement. Others to note include Paris Lights and Tuxedo Junction, who sports cheekpieces for the first time.
FLYAWAYDREAM is a consistent performer and looks worth siding with now upped in trip. Sweet Reward and Croeso Cymraeg head the list of dangers.
This looks a tough puzzle but SWEET REWARD's two big runs at other tracks among his last three starts require plenty of respect.

1st (2) (4/1 +33%) Prosecco |
4/1(+33%) | (2) Prosecco 4/1, Signs of ability prior to a rather underwhelming handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month. In good hands and can't be written off. Handicap debut (1m4f, AW) last time was her best show since debut, but in only 6th of 9. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (6.5/1 +28%) Loughville |
6.5/1(+28%) | (5) Loughville 6.5/1, Brought along gradually last year but showed clear signs of ability on second/third outings. Stable's runners often do better in handicaps, so worth a market check back from 7 months off. Shaped on AW as 2yo as if 1m2f can help and her dam was a 1m2f winner; holds some appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (2.75/1 +0%) Surrey Belle |
2.75/1(+0%) | (9) Surrey Belle 2.75/1, Settled better and produced comfortably her best effort to date when runner-up in a handicap at Ffos Las earlier this month, staying on after conceding first run. More to come and looks the one to beat. Didn't get the best of runs over 1f out when second of six at Ffos Las (1m2f, good) latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (2/1 +27%) Kamanika |
2/1(+27%) | (8) Kamanika 2/1, Has held her form well so far this term and gained another deserved success at Leicester 28 days ago. Should give another good account. More exposed than the rest but has also shown she can win, including last time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5.5/1 +31%) Showy |
5.5/1(+31%) | (4) Showy 5.5/1, Best effort to date when fourth in a maiden at Windsor 3 weeks ago and didn't have a hard time. Enters handicaps with potential and can't be ruled out. Fourth in 1m2f maiden at Windsor; handicap debut and could be open to further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (28/1 -12%) Lowick |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Lowick 28/1, Has only hinted at ability to date and opening mark demands a lot more. Promise on debut; something amiss both runs since, the bit slipping on first occasion. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KAMANIKA edged out a subsequent dual winner at Leicester four weeks ago and a 2lb rise for that effort looks lenient. With plenty of question marks surrounding the others, this experienced, and in-form, filly looks the most solid option. Cutting back in distance looks set to suit Prosecco, who interestingly has William Buick aboard, while Showy and Loughville are both interesting handicap newcomers.
SURREY BELLE looked ahead of her opening mark when runner-up at Ffos Las 23 days ago and she's taken to prove the point. Kamanika is an obvious danger on the back of her success at Leicester and both Loughville and Showy appeal as interesting handicap debutantes.
Seasonal and handicap debutante LOUGHVILLE (nap) gets the vote. Surrey Belle and Kamanika look most solid among the rest.
Ths is the racecard key.
