1st (1) (5/1 +50%) Desert Doctor |
5/1(+50%) | (1) Desert Doctor 5/1, Big price and beaten a fair way when fifth of 8 in handicap at Haydock (6f, good to soft) 42 days ago on return from 12 months off. Significantly up in trip and this will reveal more. Multiple winner; put a line through his belated return in a messy race at Haydock. |

2nd (4) (2.25/1 +36%) Luna Magic |
2.25/1(+36%) | (4) Luna Magic 2.25/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Chepstow in June. 5/1, fourth of 6 in handicap at Goodwood (9f, soft) 5 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Represents dangerous combination but has lost her spark since winning at Chepstow in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (8.5/1 +6%) Iconic Knight |
8.5/1(+6%) | (3) Iconic Knight 8.5/1, Successful twice at Chepstow last summer. Below par this year, seventh of 12 back at that venue on Monday. On a good mark but no better than seventh in two runs for this yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3.6/1 +10%) Havana Goldrush |
3.6/1(+10%) | (2) Havana Goldrush 3.6/1, Latest win at Windsor in June. Good third of 11 in handicap (15/2) at Bath (8f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Has to be taken seriously having been eased a further 1 lb since. Couldn't dominate as he likes when third behind in-form opposition at Bath. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 -140%) Fieldsman |
12/1(-140%) | (6) Fieldsman 12/1, Course winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 15/2, last of 5 in handicap at Brighton (8f, good) 22 days ago. Should strip fitter with that under his belt. Multiple winner who was running well until dropping his guard the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (3.33/1 -11%) Inclement Weather |
3.33/1(-11%) | (5) Inclement Weather 3.33/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Good second of 10 in handicap (9/1) at this C&D (good) 34 days ago, clear of rest. Unexposed on turf and one to consider. Having only her third run on turf when a game second at Sandown (clear of rest). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (28/1 -133%) Letter Of The Law |
28/1(-133%) | (7) Letter Of The Law 28/1, Hung left when twelfth of 13 in handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good to firm) 8 days ago. Others more persuasive. Has been running well for the most part this year and softening ground won't faze him. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LUNA MAGIC has won the last two renewals of this race and, off 2lb lower than last year's success, Archie Watson's mare has every chance of completing the hat-trick despite being well held on her last three starts. Inclement Weather is an obvious threat to the selection following her narrow defeat over course and distance in July, while Havana Goldrush is the pick of the remainder.
Back over his optimum trip, HAVANA GOLDRUSH returned to form at Bath last week and having been eased further in the weights, he looks the one to be with. Inclement Weather and Fieldsman are a couple of potential threats.
Inclement Weather and HAVANA GOLDRUSH are the ones coming here on the back of positive performances.

1st (1) (0.36/1 +0%) Lexington Belle |
0.36/1(+0%) | (1) Lexington Belle 0.36/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win at Wolverhampton in August. Very good second of 20 under a penalty in nursery at York (7f, good to firm, 20/1) 8 days ago, sticking to task. Hard to beat off 6 lb lower in weaker race (due to race off 10 lb higher). She's 10lb well-in after her near miss in a deep nursery at York last week; one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4.5/1 +50%) Quickfire |
4.5/1(+50%) | (2) Quickfire 4.5/1, Winner at Lingfield in June. Sixth of 9 in nursery (16/1) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Mark is easing at least. Maiden winner yet to shine in handicaps but this one should be easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 -9%) Royal Hussar |
6/1(-9%) | (4) Royal Hussar 6/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 11/4 and blinkered for 1st time, second of 6 in maiden at Chelmsford City (8f) 24 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Progressing well so not taken lightly. Couldn't make the most of a soft lead on the AW latest but ran well in the blinkers. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This might prove to be a straightforward task for LEXINGTON BELLE, who is 10lb well in here following her narrow defeat in a valuable 7f nursery at York last week. Quickfire is unexposed at this trip and appears to be the biggest threat to the selection on these terms, while Royal Hussar and Tasmanian Legend are both open to improvement on their nursery debuts.
An excellent opportunity for LEXINGTON BELLE, who only just failed to complete the hat-trick off 6 lb higher in a much better race than this at York last week. The progressive Royal Hussar can follow him home on his handicap debut.
She may end up encountering contrasting conditions to York last week but LEXINGTON BELLE is 10lb well-in after that near miss.

1st (5) (14/1 +44%) Solar Aclaim |
14/1(+44%) | (5) Solar Aclaim 14/1, Foaled March 19. €37,000 yearling, 50,000 gns 2-y-o, Aclaim gelding. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1.1/1 +56%) Debora's Dream |
1.1/1(+56%) | (3) Debora's Dream 1.1/1, Held back by inexperience when fifth of 10 in novice event at Newbury (6f, good, 5/1) on debut 41 days ago. In top hands so sure to do better. Finished well for fourth over this far at Newbury (good) and that was a good race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (6.5/1 -86%) Pressure's On |
6.5/1(-86%) | (9) Pressure's On 6.5/1, Pretty expensive to follow so far, evens when just a creditable third of 8 in nursery at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 15 days ago. That does represent the best form on offer. Looked unlucky in a nursery last time but might be vulnerable back in a novice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (18/1 +28%) Dashing Harry |
18/1(+28%) | (6) Dashing Harry 18/1, Foaled February 22. £26,000 yearling, Harry Angel colt. Dam, runner-up at 7f, half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Make Time out of winning half-sister to high-class sprinter Overdose. Far too green to show anything on debut 3 weeks ago. Tongue tie on. Pulled hard and ran green when bringing up the rear over C&D (good) three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (28/1 -133%) Assembly Call |
28/1(-133%) | (1) Assembly Call 28/1, Foaled May 10. Soldier's Call colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 7f Capt Chaos and useful winner up to 1m Control Zone. Dam 2-y-o 1m winner. 14th foal; half-brother to five winners; has to rate an interesting newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (8.5/1 +29%) Darroch |
8.5/1(+29%) | (2) Darroch 8.5/1, Twice-raced maiden. 22/1, tenth of 13 in maiden at Goodwood (6f, good to soft) 31 days ago. Ran moderately at Goodwood but his initial run here was highly respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (2.5/1 -25%) Eighth Army |
2.5/1(-25%) | (4) Eighth Army 2.5/1, Foaled February 14. £45,000 yearling, Land Force colt. Half-brother to several winners, including useful winner up to 7f Trading Profit and 1m winner Killay. One to take seriously on debut for excellent yard. £45,000 yearling; 13th foal; half-brother to six winners; likely type on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (66/1 +34%) Newfangled |
66/1(+34%) | (8) Newfangled 66/1, Twice-raced maiden. Sixth of 9 in novice event (80/1) at this C&D (good) 22 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Beaten 25l at Sandown (7f) and 16l over C&D with both those runs on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (25/1 -213%) Le Geyt |
25/1(-213%) | (7) Le Geyt 25/1, Foaled March 18. 22,000 gns foal, £26,000 yearling, 20,000 gns 2-y-o, Acclamation colt. Dam, 2-y-o 5f winner, half-sister to useful 1m winner Halaqa out of useful/temperamental winner up to 1¼m (2-y-o 7f winner) Esloob. 20,000gns 2yo; second foal; dam 5f 2yo winner (RPR 81); respected newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (200/1 -100%) Glamorous Joy |
200/1(-100%) | (11) Glamorous Joy 200/1, Looks a long-term project, 125/1, tenth of 13 in novice event at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 46 days ago. Beaten nearly 10l or more in 6f novice contests at Newbury and Windsor in June and July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (200/1 -33%) Showpeace |
200/1(-33%) | (10) Showpeace 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, seventh of 9 in maiden at Bath (5.7f, good) 44 days ago. Bred to be a fast 2yo but beaten in the region of 20l in sprints at Windsor and Bath. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PRESSURE'S ON is developing nicely and reverting to 6f on turf could unlock further improvement from the Ed Dunlop-trained colt. The son of Land Force sets a reasonable standard with a mark of 77 and returning to novice company could be a profitable move. Eighth Army and Assembly Call are noteworthy debutants to monitor in the betting, while Debora's Dream is another who merits a place on the shortlist.
The Newbury novice DEBORA'S DREAM finished fifth in on debut in July worked out pretty well and given he looked short on know-how that day, a much-improved display looks on the cards. He's therefore preferred in favour of the standard-setting colt Pressure's On, with Eighth Army a newcomer of some interest.
Roger Varian's DEBORA'S DREAM shaped like a horse with plenty more to offer when a closing fifth behind respected opposition at Newbury

1st (6) (4.5/1 -35%) Imperiousity |
4.5/1(-35%) | (6) Imperiousity 4.5/1, 9/1, good second of 7 in handicap at Goodwood (5f, good) 7 days ago, just failing. Same mark here, so he warrants respect. Wouldn't want soft ground but last week's Goodwood second brings him into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (1.5/1 +8%) The Thames Boatman |
1.5/1(+8%) | (1) The Thames Boatman 1.5/1, Respectable sixth of 11 in handicap (3/1) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 14 days ago. This represents a slight drop in grade and headgear is off. Hard puller; gained his wins on the AW but can handle downhill tracks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3.5/1 +50%) Connie's Rose |
3.5/1(+50%) | (4) Connie's Rose 3.5/1, Three wins from 11 runs this year. Latest win at Bath in June. 8/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Can be a factor from this mark. Beneath his winning form at Bath in June on final three starts but capable of going well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5.5/1 +45%) Thismydream |
5.5/1(+45%) | (5) Thismydream 5.5/1, One win from 32 Flat runs. Fifth of 6 in handicap (7/1) at Yarmouth (5.2f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Clearly needs everything to fall right. Raced too freely last time but had previously gone agonisingly close at Yarmouth.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (6/1 +25%) The Defiant |
6/1(+25%) | (2) The Defiant 6/1, AW winner in June but suffered a brace of heavy defeats since, eighth of 9 in handicap at Brighton (5.3f, good) 23 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Daniel Steele and one to monitor in the betting eased in class. Better on AW and he weakened right out of it on his latest turf start at Brighton. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
IMPERIOUSITY finished with a wet sail when just denied over 5f at Goodwood and this looks like a good opportunity to go one better. Amanda Perrett's charge was only beaten a nose on that occasion and is arguably the one to beat off the same mark. The Thames Boatman should be on the scene off a dangerous mark, while Thismydream and Jax Edge are also worthy of consideration.
THE THAMES BOATMAN represents a yard in excellent form and has a career-low mark to work with, so he receives the vote in what looks a trappy sprint. Imperiousity and Jax Edge are a couple of potential threats.
The filly CONNIE'S ROSE goes on any ground and here's hoping she can return to her winning form at Bath not all that long ago.

1st (5) (10/1 +0%) Mudskipper |
10/1(+0%) | (5) Mudskipper 10/1, 14/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 24 days ago. Need more respite from the handicapper. Shaped well on soft ground last autumn and it's still early days since being gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4.5/1 +25%) Golspie |
4.5/1(+25%) | (2) Golspie 4.5/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Newbury in April. 17/2 and blinkered for 1st time, creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at Sandown (7f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Won his only start at 1m on debut at Newbury; 7f perhaps too sharp at Sandown latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4/1 -45%) Playupskyblues |
4/1(-45%) | (7) Playupskyblues 4/1, 5/1, career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Kempton (8f) 18 days ago. Can go well again after 3 lb rise. Appeared to have a bit in hand at Kempton and only 3lb higher for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 +11%) Dumfries |
4/1(+11%) | (1) Dumfries 4/1, Winner at Southwell in March. Respectable third of 6 in handicap at Epsom (8.5f, good to soft, 11/2) 29 days ago. AW maiden winner over this far; no closer than 5l in his three handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5.5/1 -10%) Dream Of Mischief |
5.5/1(-10%) | (3) Dream Of Mischief 5.5/1, Latest win at Windsor in July. Thirteenth of 17 in handicap at Goodwood (8f, soft, 22/1) 29 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Not taken lightly back on faster ground. 3lb higher than for his 1m Windsor win in July but his profile is very up and down. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 -120%) Get Stuck In |
22/1(-120%) | (4) Get Stuck In 22/1, Lightly-raced winner. 1 win from 2 runs this year. Winner at Chelmsford City in March. 11/1, ran no sort of race after 5 months off when last of 9 in handicap at Haydock (8.2f, good) 20 days ago. AW winner but reservations after finishing last at Haydock after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (14/1 +0%) Natzor |
14/1(+0%) | (6) Natzor 14/1, Blinkered for 1st time, tenth of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Chelmsford City (10f) 24 days ago. May show more back at 1m but softening ground would ask questions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (3.5/1 +36%) I'm Too Tired |
3.5/1(+36%) | (8) I'm Too Tired 3.5/1, Fourth of 7 in handicap at Ffos Las (8f, soft, 3/1) 16 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Better ground may help. Has performed okay in his three handicaps without looking ahead of his mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A competitive event but a chance is taken on DREAM OF MISCHIEF, who was a winner over 1m at Windsor on his penultimate start. He then struggled in a deep race at Goodwood, but the gelding can return to form in these slightly calmer waters. Last-time-out winner Playupskyblues should also offer a bold bid raised just 3lb after that success over 1m at Kempton, while Golspie and Get Stuck In head the remainder.
PLAYUPSKYBLUES recorded a good timefigure when making all at Kempton so he's taken to defy a 3 lb higher mark. Dream of Mischief pulled too hard on soft ground at Goodwood so can bounce back, while I'm Too Tired is another who could appreciate faster conditions.
The signs were more encouraging from GOLSPIE (nap) last time at Sandown and he belatedly returns to the distance of his debut win.

1st (4) (4/1 +11%) Lady Percival |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Lady Percival 4/1, Excellent return from 8 months off when third of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f, 13/2) 14 days ago, running on. Has to be of serious interest. Encouraging run on AW return; good third on final turf start last September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (1.62/1 +41%) Capone |
1.62/1(+41%) | (5) Capone 1.62/1, Winner at Chester in June. 40/1, good second of 13 in handicap at Nottingham (16f, good to soft) 17 days ago, finding only a 3-y-o too good. 3 lb rise won't prevent a very bold bid. Consistent gelding who beat all bar a Beckett improver over 2m at Nottingham the last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 -7%) Captain Kane |
8/1(-7%) | (1) Captain Kane 8/1, Eight wins from 24 Flat runs. Latest win at Lingfield in July. 13/2, below form third of 8 in handicap at Ffos Las (14f, heavy) 24 days ago, though may have found the test too much. Cheekpieces on first time. Highly reliable on good or quicker (and the AW) and this mark is manageable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/1 +10%) Highland Frolic |
9/1(+10%) | (7) Highland Frolic 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Fair winner at 16f over hurdles. Good second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (20.4f, good to firm, 4/1) 67 days ago. First Flat run for this yard. Usually on the premises over hurdles this year, including a soft-ground win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (3.5/1 +13%) Charles St |
3.5/1(+13%) | (3) Charles St 3.5/1, Seriously expensive to follow over hurdles for this stable and has just a maiden win to his name on the level. Fitness no concern given yard he represents but others more persuasive. Hard to win with but returns to the Flat on a decent mark and will give his running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (7.5/1 -7%) Tashi |
7.5/1(-7%) | (2) Tashi 7.5/1, One win from 25 Flat runs. Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. Second of 5 in handicap at Newmarket (12f, soft, 20/1) 27 days ago, no match for winner. That was a step back in the right direction. Rain won't harm her chance and she has the form to feature if it all comes together. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The consistent Capone has been knocking on the door of late and is likely to be in the mix once again. That said, he has been raised a further 3lb for his second over 2m at Nottingham last time and may be susceptible to some better treated rivals, such as CHARLES ST. Fergal O'Brien's charge has been running over timber of late and he returns to the Flat on a mark which can be exploited. Captain Kane completes the shortlist.
CAPONE found only an improving 3-y-o too good in a deeper handicap than this at Nottingham 17 days ago and with that performance confirming he's in top form, he could be the answer. Lady Percival's belated reappearance was a very good one so she demands respect, along with Spritzin' at the foot of the weights.
She did not return until two weeks ago but LADY PERCIVAL made a nice reappearance in that AW race and her last turf run was a good one.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
