1st (8) (12/1 +52%) Showman |
12/1(+52%) | (8) Showman 12/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, fourth of 16 in novice hurdle at Listowel (16f, good to soft) on Saturday. Pleasing 50s seventh at Punchestown in January; probably best watched for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (5/1 +23%) Yeats Star |
5/1(+23%) | (12) Yeats Star 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Very good third of 10 in novice hurdle at Downpatrick (17.8f, soft, 4/1) 10 days ago. Pretty consistent but no chance of beating The Lovely Man on Wexford form; place chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (13/8 -62%) Jhentong Enki |
13/8(-62%) | (4) Jhentong Enki 13/8, €48,000 3-y-o, Buck's Boum gelding. Half-brother to fair French 17f hurdle winner Haiku Enki. Easy winner sole start in points in February so one to take seriously on Rules debut. Bolted up in point; runner-up bumper RPR sole start since (107) suggests this one exciting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (5/4 +38%) The Lovely Man |
5/4(+38%) | (9) The Lovely Man 5/4, Promising sort. Bit below form second of 11 in novice hurdle at Wexford (16.4f, soft, 11/8) 24 days ago, though had rather hopeless task from position. Sets a good standard on earlier form. In the money all hurdling starts, 11-8 last twice and might come on a little from Wexford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (33/1 -50%) Chicago Storm |
33/1(-50%) | (2) Chicago Storm 33/1, Fair maiden on the Flat, making jumps debut. 20/1, fifth of 13 in handicap at Listowel (14.2f, soft) 4 days ago. Maiden on Flat; has the stamina for hurdling; not progressive but solid and in good hands. |

125/1(-56%) | (1) Billy Lee Swagger 125/1, First foal, dam unraced. Made frame completed start in points, fell last time (Apr 22). No sign he's up to winning this in points; first foal out of unraced mare so canvass bare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (12/1 +14%) Upthereforthinking |
12/1(+14%) | (11) Upthereforthinking 12/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Sixth of 11 in novice hurdle at Bellewstown (20.4f, good, 12/1) on hurdles bow 26 days ago. Down in trip. Some promise in a bumper here before another nice hurdling effort at Bellewstown; noted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (250/1 +0%) Saynothinatall |
250/1(+0%) | (7) Saynothinatall 250/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. 66/1, twelfth of 15 in novice hurdle at Galway (16.6f, soft) on hurdles bow 14 days ago. Long odds, beaten about 52l both starts (Galway, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (15) (125/1 -56%) Leste |
125/1(-56%) | (15) Leste 125/1, Shirocco filly. Dam, unraced, closely related to temperamental but fair hurdle winner/fairly useful chaser (stayed 2½m) Avoca Promise. Good sire; unraced dam closely related to jumps winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (28/1 -27%) Juniper Hill |
28/1(-27%) | (14) Juniper Hill 28/1, 11/2, fourth of 12 in novice hurdle at Wexford (24f, soft) on hurdles bow 24 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Likely to improve. 11-2 on hurdling debut (3m) after fair bumper runs but beaten 22l; keen then and learning. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JHENTONG ENKI is from a classy French family and the son of Buck's Boum impressed when winning a point-to-point for Colin Bowe at Kirkistown in the spring. The runner-up on that occasion was a creditable fourth in a Galway festival bumper. Paul Nolan's new recruit can make a winning start under Rules. The Lovely Man had Yeats Star back in fourth when a remote second at Wexford. He should be all the better for that run after his summer break and went close in a big-field maiden at Naas in March. Upthereforthinking, fourth in a bumper at this venue on debut, ran a nice race on hurdling debut at Bellewstown and has place prospects.
THE LOVELY MAN had no chance with the well-ridden winner at Wexford on return to action at the beginning of the month and is fancied to run much closer to form in a conventional race this time. Jhentong Enki was an easy winner on his point debut so has to be feared, with Yeats Star another to consider.
The Lovely Man sets a good standard. He has nothing to fear on form from Yeats Star. JHENTONG ENKI looks potentially high-class

1st (6) (7/2 -5%) Park Of Kings |
7/2(-5%) | (6) Park Of Kings 7/2, Eleventh of 14 in handicap hurdle (8/1) at Tipperary (16f, good) 130 days ago. Tongue strap on and likely he has a bigger performance in him. Striking bumper RPR of 112 final start before hurdling suggests he's flop but early days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/1 -33%) Pidoyne |
6/1(-33%) | (2) Pidoyne 6/1, Winner in hurdle at Tramore in April. Ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle (4/1) at Tipperary (16f, good) 130 days ago. Better expected back from a break. Apparently blew her chance at second-last at Tipperary when last seen; obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (17) (10/1 +29%) Serpolette |
10/1(+29%) | (17) Serpolette 10/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Bit below form seventh of 15 in handicap hurdle (15/2) at Bellewstown (20.4f, good) 26 days ago. Back down in trip. RESERVE. First reserve; pretty reliable and place chance; one win since August 2020. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (16) (12/1 +76%) Verbal Sparring |
12/1(+76%) | (16) Verbal Sparring 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 80/1, bit below form sixth of 18 in novice hurdle at Navan (15.6f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Youngster making handicap debut; mark is fair but may need more experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (16/1 +43%) Malbas |
16/1(+43%) | (5) Malbas 16/1, Twelfth of 15 in handicap hurdle at this course (15.5f, good to soft, 18/1) 77 days ago. Booking of Harvey a plus. Struggled in handicaps last year; need to progress markedly from course return here, July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (15) (12/1 +25%) Go Gill Go |
12/1(+25%) | (15) Go Gill Go 12/1, One win from 21 NH runs. Seventeen runs since last win in 2021. Below form ninth of 15 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at Clonmel (19.1f, soft) 137 days ago. Did not get 2m3f at Clonmel; modest but place chance on form; sole win was maiden in 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (28/1 -40%) Ishan |
28/1(-40%) | (8) Ishan 28/1, Last of 15 in handicap hurdle (10/1) at Navan (15.6f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Others more persuasive. Won over 3m in January; this trip looked too short back hurdling at Navan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (10/1 -25%) Chapel Street |
10/1(-25%) | (10) Chapel Street 10/1, 7/1, respectable sixth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Bellewstown (20f, good) 79 days ago. Down in trip. Others more persuasive. Wexford winner in June rain well there before lesser Bellewstown effort; trip-versatile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (7/1 +42%) Star Official |
7/1(+42%) | (3) Star Official 7/1, 11/2, below form seventh of 12 in handicap hurdle at Wexford (20.4f, soft) 45 days ago. Back down in trip. Shortlist material. Yard continues in fine form; hurdling maiden looked stretched latest but each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (10/1 -25%) Spick And Span |
10/1(-25%) | (1) Spick And Span 10/1, 7/1, creditable fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Navan (15.8f, good). Off 12 months. Others more persuasive. Better in fifth in handicaps two Septembers ago when beaten 2l at Navan back at 2m; risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (33/1 +34%) Paula's Prayer |
33/1(+34%) | (7) Paula's Prayer 33/1, 40/1, tenth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Wexford (20.4f, soft) 24 days ago. Down in trip. Struggled in tenth since Fairyhouse win, off for two years until quiet Wexford return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PIDOYNE was in good form on soft ground in the spring when two seconds preceded a victory at Tramore. A blunder two out harmed his chance when last seen at Tipperary in May and he may be able to resume progress despite an absence since then. Mr Mac Phisto was second at Cork in July before going one better at Navan earlier this month. A 5lb hike looks fair but testing ground would be a concern if the predicted rain arrives before this meeting. Chapel Street made the breakthrough over 2m4f at Wexford in June and was placed at the same venue next time when dropping back in trip. There could be a bit more to come from the Scorpion gelding.
STAR OFFICIAL is well handicapped on his runner-up at Limerick in July and given it's easy to excuse a lesser effort at Wexford since, he looks the way to go. Mr Macphisto was better than ever when winning last week so has to be feared, with Pidoyne another to consider.
Mr Macphisto looks a rock-solid each-way player now. A chance is taken on PARK OF KINGS, who could be far better than this mark

9/4(+59%) | (6) Iriskana 9/4, Fair hurdler. 11/1, good second of 15 in novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (19f, good) 17 days ago, closing all way to line. That form entitles her to repsect. Narrow defeats over this sort of trip either side of poor run in headgear over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (9/2 +0%) Lucky Viv |
9/2(+0%) | (8) Lucky Viv 9/2, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Very good second of 15 in novice hurdle (7/2) at Tramore (21.1f, good) 115 days ago. Progressive form and just about the one to beat, Best run over hurdles when second to 109-rated mare at Tramore (2m5f); back from a break. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
IRISKANA, who finished runner-up either side of a below par effort at Wexford, should be good enough to win a race of this nature. The Sam Curling-trained mare was only just denied on her most recent start and should appreciate the extra furlong here. It would be no surprise to see the daughter of No Risk At All gain a first career success. Lucky Viv is another coming into this race in good form having also occupied the runner-up spot last time out. Michael Barry's five-year-old is certainly capable of making her presence felt. Idol, a bumper winner at this track on her only appearance to date, is interesting on her first start since leaving Willie Mullins. Something has clearly been amiss as she hasn't been seen since August 2022 but the ability is certainly there.
LUCKY VIV is going the right way over hurdles and a repeat of the level she displayed when a close second ar Tramore last time may well suffice. Iriskana is the main threat on form, though Champersinthepark may well have won a point had she stood up back in February.
Preference is for IRISKANA who went close behind a useful gelding at Kilbeggan earlier this month; Champersinthepark is one to note

1st (7) (5/2 +50%) Fill The Tank |
5/2(+50%) | (7) Fill The Tank 5/2, Course winner. Creditable 1½ lengths second of 13 to Hand Over Fist in handicap hurdle at this course (23.6f, good to soft, 12/1) 48 days ago. Enters calculations. C&D winner; two shockers this season before 18s Limerick win; backed that up here latest. |

2nd (9) (11/8 +50%) Read To Return |
11/8(+50%) | (9) Read To Return 11/8, Excellent second of 14 in novice chase (5/2) at Tramore (21.7f, good to soft) 161 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Tongue strap back on for this handicap hurdle debut. Remarkably well-backed and duly improved when second in Tramore maiden chase in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (8/1 +84%) Benkei |
8/1(+84%) | (8) Benkei 8/1, Course winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2018. 33/1, eighth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Navan (15.6f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Old boy a course winner; noted on C&D third over a year ago; some interest at the prices. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 +52%) Ideal Du Tabert |
10/3(+52%) | (1) Ideal Du Tabert 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. Up in trip for this handicap hurdle debut and while improvement is needed, this 5-y-o still has time on his side. Went remarkably short in-running on stable debut at Kilbeggan, running another solid race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (25/1 +80%) Military Hill |
25/1(+80%) | (11) Military Hill 25/1, 18/1, tenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Downpatrick (21.3f, good to soft) 100 days ago. Readily passed over. No apparent chance; 7lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (16/1 +68%) Rockon Henry |
16/1(+68%) | (10) Rockon Henry 16/1, Ninth of 13 in novice hurdle (40/1) at Punchestown (20.4f, heavy). Off 19 months ahead of this handicap hurdle debut. Not an obvious sort off huge layoff for trainer 0-19 but nearly one a bumper in 2021. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
READ TO RETURN had caught the eye on a few occasions under both codes prior to finishing second over fences at Tramore in April. The Tony Martin-trained gelding has not been seen since but has won off a break in the past so fitness is unlikely to be an issue. He is coming into this a fresh horse so has to be a contender. Hand Over Fist, a winner at this track last time, deserves plenty of respect in his hat-trick bid. The Henry De Bromhead-trained gelding is a lightly raced individual who could still be ahead of the handicapper. Fill The Tank was runner-up to the aforementioned horse here last time so should be competitive at these revised weights. Trainer Aengus King had a winner at Listowel in mid week so his string couldn't be in better order at present.
This step up in trip could be just the ticket for READ TO RETURN, who was runner-up in a maiden chase at Tramore in April and is on a fair-looking mark now making his handicap debut back over hurdles. Hand Over Fist and Fill The Tank, first and second respectively here last month, should both be involved in the finish once again, while Good World is also shortlisted.
A trappy staying race. FILL THE TANK is back in form and likes Roscommon, as does the thriving Hand Over Fist. Benkei is noted

1st (1) (2/5 +40%) Hercule Du Seuil |
2/5(+40%) | (1) Hercule Du Seuil 2/5, Promising sort. Completed his hat-trick over fences in 8-runner novice chase at Galway (18.2f, good to soft) 53 days ago by 6½ lengths from Solness, travelling strongly. Leading claims with more to come. Some ground concerns but smart front-runner can again take the measure of Solness. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/1 -8%) Calico |
7/1(-8%) | (6) Calico 7/1, Useful winner at 17f over hurdles. 10/11, career best when winning 9-runner novice chase at Galway (18.5f, soft) on debut over fences 14 days ago, easily. Sure to improve. In the picture. 4yo was kept busy over hurdles and winning chase start at Galway; minor honours at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (18/1 +10%) The Banger Doyle |
18/1(+10%) | (4) The Banger Doyle 18/1, Useful chaser. 7/2, below form seventh of 12 in maiden at Gowran (14f, good) 19 days ago. Switches from Flat to chase. Back down in trip. Useful chaser, so he's no forlorn hope. Likeable sort rated 128 and has nice bit of experience but unlikely winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/2 +22%) Path D'oroux |
7/2(+22%) | (3) Path D'oroux 7/2, Useful hurdler. Latest win in hurdle at Navan in January. 16/1, good third of 20 in handicap hurdle at Galway (16f, good) 52 days ago. Makes chase debut and needs considering. Smart hurdler fit from good run at Galway; won a point but stiff task on chase debut. |

5th (5) (66/1 +34%) Hazelhatch Lady |
66/1(+34%) | (5) Hazelhatch Lady 66/1, Fair chaser. 2 wins from 4 runs this season. Encouraging third of 7 in novice chase at Ballinrobe (23f, good to soft, 5/2) on debut over fences 10 days ago. Down in trip. Can do better. Fair hurdler was third on recent chase debut in mares' beginners; looks outclassed. |

The Willie Mullins-trained HERCULE DU SEUIL stands out in this company. A winner of a similar race at the Galway festival last month, the six-year-old looks a cut above your typical novice chaser at this stage of the season. It would be a major surprise if the JP McManus-owned gelding doesn't complete a four-timer. Solness, who has twice finished runner-up to Hercule Du Seuil this term could be set to do so for a third successive time. The Joseph O'Brien-trained five-year-old is clearly a decent horse but has been unfortunate to bump into an above average performer in the son of Saddler Maker. Calico, who made a winning debut over fences at Galway earlier this month, has to be a contender given his four-year-old weight allowance.
HERCULE DU SEUIL hasn't looked back since sent over fences and can rattle off his four-timer here at the chief expense of Galway-scorer Calico, who also has better days ahead of her. Solness also has the form to play a part in this intriguing Grade 3 chase.
Really testing ground would be a worry for HERCULE DU SEUIL but he's hard to oppose and can once again prove too strong for Solness

18/1(+28%) | (5) Lizrona 18/1, Latest win in chase at Clonmel in April. 14/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Tramore (21.6f, soft) 162 days ago. Has a bit to prove. Won over further on heavy ground at Clonmel in April; back from lay-off but not ruled out. |

7/2(-100%) | (2) Downtown Queen 7/2, 7/1, career best when winning 12-runner handicap chase at Wexford (19.6f, soft) 24 days ago. Stable in good form so she has to be taken seriously despite taking a 7 lb rise. Jumped well when winning over a little shorter at Wexford and now 7lb higher. |

|U| (7) (9/2 +10%) Bonnie Kellie |
9/2(+10%) | (7) Bonnie Kellie 9/2, 11/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, every chance when fell last in handicap chase at Punchestown (21.2f, good to soft) 151 days ago. Can bounce back. Lots of solid form on winter ground last season; best over shorter trips than this. |

|PU| (1) (5/2 +38%) Norwigi |
5/2(+38%) | (1) Norwigi 5/2, C&D winner. 2 wins from 6 runs this season. Latest win in chase at Killarney in August. 10/3, fair fifth of 8 in handicap chase at Galway (22.5f, soft) 14 days ago so needs considering. Won on testing ground over C&D and at Killarney last month; held latest but can come back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Course and distance winner NORWIGI should appreciate this easier task having finished second in a higher grade at Galway last time. Prior to that run, the JP McManus owned mare had won her previous two starts. Downtown Queen went close at Wexford on her penultimate start before making the breakthrough at that same venue last time. The Henry De Bromhead stable have been in excellent form in recent days, so a big run from the six-year-old looks in the offing. Menindee who won either side of a bad run is harder to quantify but if the David Christie-trained mare is on a going day then she is certainly good enough to add to her four career wins to date. Darragh O'Keeffe, who has been in the saddle for the last two of those, retains the partnership here.
DOWNTOWN QUEEN showed herself to be better than ever when going in at Wexford and a 7 lb weight rise doesn't look sufficient to prevent her from following up. Bonnie Kellie is feared most if, as expected, bouncing back from her final-fence exit at Punchestown, with C&D winner Norwigi also firmly in the picture.
This race was probably one that LIZRONA's connections had in mind and the ground has come right; she can defy an absence

8th (10) (25/1 +38%) Stellar Jury |
25/1(+38%) | (10) Stellar Jury 25/1, €12,000 3-y-o, Jukebox Jury filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including useful chaser Stones And Roses, stays 29f, and bumper winner/fairly useful 2¾m chase winner Golazo. Half-sister to pair of bumper winners; dam 2m hurdle winner; cost E12,000 at three. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
GLENS LULLABY, a half-sister to a bumper winner for Jonjo O'Neill, catches the eye on her racecourse debut. Out of Grade 1 winning mare, Glens Melody, she could hardly have a better pedigree. John Gleeson is a positive jockey booking for the Peter Fahey-trained filly. D'jo Dela Barriere shaped with some promise on his initial outing when fifth at Killarney in May. Trainer Sam Curling does well with his bumper horses so the gelding should be noted in the market. Fleur In The Park, a half-brother to a black type horse in France, is an interesting contender for Andrew Slattery. The Tipperary man does exceptionally well with the few horses he runs in this category.
GLENS LULLABY is related to a bumper winner and hails from a shrewd operation, so she's worth chancing to make a winning start if the market speaks in her favour. Fellow newcomer Fleur In The Park is a danger and Prove Yourself is the clear pick of those with experience.
The Killarney fifth of D'JO DELA BARRIERE (nap) is arguably stronger form than the more recent Ballinrobe third of Prove Yourself
Ths is the racecard key.
