The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Magnetic North is the obvious starting point having rattled off a trio of claimers in June and July before an underwhelming return to hurdling in Sligo. He is swerved on this occasion, though, with soft ground on the agenda. The consistent KHAFAAQ appeals, particularly with Cian Horgan taking 7lb off his back. He has posted two victories, including one in a handicap over a similar trip at Cork, and three places from his last five outings. He has form on soft ground. Denis Hogan's Bal De Rio should be more than capable in this grade, especially if the ground is very testing. His stablemate Roderick landed a claimer at Killarney last month, which entitles him to respect. Comfort Line had a horror draw when unplaced in Galway, but could enjoy dropping into this class.
KHAFAAQ rates the pick of these weights so looks the way to go on the back of his good recent Galway third. Bal de Rio is feared most reverted to this sphere with Theresathought also one to consider in an open claimer.
Magnetic North and Comfort Line have strong claims but KHAFAAQ's consistency is a big selling point at this level.

4/1(+0%) | (5) Cambridge 4/1, Foaled April 13. Dubawi colt. Brother to 9f winner Black Sand and half-brother to useful 1m-1¼m winner Maqsad. Interesting newcomer. Smart pedigree; experience would be preferred but he's clearly of strong interest. |

18/1(+64%) | (6) Gibbs Island 18/1, Once-raced colt. Sixth of 9 in maiden at Fairyhouse (6f, good to firm, 22/1) on debut 74 days ago. Up in trip with more needed. 22-1 when beaten in the region of 10l in a 6f maiden at Fairyhouse. |

125/1(-25%) | (2) Aucusn 125/1, Twice-raced colt. 125/1, fourteenth of 16 in maiden at the Curragh (6f, good) 9 days ago. Back up in trip. Down the field in maidens at Galway (7f) and the Curragh (6f); one for handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BAD DESIRE, who holds three Group 2 entries, can build upon a promising runner-up berth on debut at Galway. He was collared in the closing stages by a short-priced favourite and testing ground will hold no fears for him after that performance. Cambridge is a half-brother to a Listed winner and holds a Group 2 entry at Newmarket next month. He is an obvious threat on his racecourse debut for Aidan O'Brien. The form of Star Hunter's third at Leopardstown in May has been very well franked. He doesn't have any notable entries but if handling this much slower ground, should be a danger to all. Thor's Hammer showed considerable improvement when filling the runner-up spot on his second start in Killarney. He was well backed that day and slow ground will suit him fine.
BAD DESIRE shaped well when a debut runner-up at Galway and is fancied to build on it and go one better now at the chief expense of form-pick Thor's Hammer. Aidan O'Brien's Dubawi newcomer Cambridge is much respected too, especially if the market speaks in her favour.
An interesting maiden. STAR HUNTER's third at Leopardstown was back in May but that now looks a really good effort.

1st (2) (0.83/1 +49%) Nemonte |
0.83/1(+49%) | (2) Nemonte 0.83/1, Debut Curragh winner. 7 lengths fourth of 6 to Ylang Ylang in Silver Flash Stakes (14/1) at Leopardstown (7.2f, good to soft) 26 days ago, hampered. Sure to go well. Beaten 7l in a Group 3 last time but that form was franked in a big way on Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (3/1 -9%) My Mate Alfie |
3/1(-9%) | (1) My Mate Alfie 3/1, Thrice-raced winner. 1 win from 3 runs this year. Won 7-runner maiden at Down Royal (7f, good to soft, 8/13) 25 days ago, cosily. Well in the mix despite conceding weight all round. Others in here have achieved that bit more but he's coming along nicely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/1 +50%) Pomeriggio |
10/1(+50%) | (4) Pomeriggio 10/1, Twice-raced maiden. 8/1, seventh of 14 in maiden at Gowran (7f, soft) 24 days ago. More is required. Down the pecking order in this company after two fairly comprehensive defeats. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (40/1 +20%) Wonderwalk |
40/1(+20%) | (5) Wonderwalk 40/1, Foaled February 3. €32,000 yearling, Footstepsinthesand filly. Half-sister to 6f-7.3f winner Lord Dudley and useful 5f winner Dun Na Sead. Dam 7f/1m winner. Respected newcomer. 32,000euros yearling; only runner lacking experience and probably up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (250/1 -25%) Finsceal Annie |
250/1(-25%) | (7) Finsceal Annie 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. Eighth of 9 in maiden at Dundalk (8f, 125/1) 7 days ago. Beaten about 15l in 7f/1m maidens and outclassed against the best of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (3.33/1 -122%) Ribchestina |
3.33/1(-122%) | (3) Ribchestina 3.33/1, Debut 6f Naas winner before fair fourth there on sole run for P.Twomey. Back after 93 days off and needs considering having rejoined former yard. Debut winner who ran well in a strong Group 3 at Naas; will enjoy the ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (250/1 -25%) A Daughtersdelight |
250/1(-25%) | (6) A Daughtersdelight 250/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 300/1, sixteenth of 18 in maiden at Leopardstown (7f, good to soft) 33 days ago. Beaten more than 20l in a trio of maidens and makes no appeal at this level. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
RIBCHESTINA won her maiden over a sprint trip on testing ground at Navan and, afterwards, jockey Robbie Colgan was quoted saying that she is more a seven-furlong horse. This step up in trip should suit her. She was beaten into fourth on better ground at Naas, but the winner went on to be successful in the Albany at Royal Ascot, so her run has merit. Nemonte has plenty of ability, but ideally would want the ground to dry out to see her at her best. She does go to work off a light weight, though, with Conor Stone-Walsh's 7lb claim factored in. My Mate Alfie was placed on his first two starts and was produced close home by Colin Keane to win in Down Royal. There is plenty more to come from him, but he does have to give plenty of weight away and may not want the conditions too testing.
NEMONTE didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fourth in the Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown so gets the verdict at the chief expense of Down Royal scorer My Mate Alfie. Ribchestina must also enter calculations after her break.
My Mate Alfie faces no easy task conceding weight to two smart fillies, with RIBCHESTINA narrowly preferred to Nemonte.

1st (1) (1.38/1 +75%) Hazalaya |
1.38/1(+75%) | (1) Hazalaya 1.38/1, Lightly-raced filly. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fifth of 14 in maiden (15/2) at Killarney (8.1f, good to soft) 35 days ago. Respected. Beaten five times at 1m+ and, from the family of Harzand, surprising to see her back at 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1/1 +80%) Muhaarar's Girl |
1/1(+80%) | (3) Muhaarar's Girl 1/1, Lightly-raced filly. Excellent second of 10 in maiden (5/1) at Gowran (8f, soft) 24 days ago. One of likelier contenders. No match for a comfortable winner at Gowran; further place money may await. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (4.5/1 +18%) Rebecca's Girl |
4.5/1(+18%) | (6) Rebecca's Girl 4.5/1, Thrice-raced filly. 5/1, first run since leaving John Patrick Murtagh when third of 8 in maiden at Navan (5.8f, good to soft) 38 days ago. Step back up in trip will suit and enters calculations. The form of her third over Navan's 5.5f is nothing to write home about. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (150/1 +0%) Shall I Walk |
150/1(+0%) | (8) Shall I Walk 150/1, Once-raced filly. 125/1, last of 10 in maiden at Down Royal (10.3f, good to soft) on debut 25 days ago. Down in trip. Was 125-1 when bringing up the rear at Down Royal (1m2f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (125/1 +17%) Saoirses Lulaby |
125/1(+17%) | (7) Saoirses Lulaby 125/1, Twice-raced filly. 150/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, tenth of 11 in maiden at Galway (7f, soft) 21 days ago. Has no right to be troubling Nelda on the evidence of their recent clash at Galway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (25/1 +38%) Mimosa Park |
25/1(+38%) | (2) Mimosa Park 25/1, Thrice-raced filly. Seventh of 10 in maiden at Fairyhouse (6f, good, 10/1) 82 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Back up in trip. Others preferred. Best run was her 8l third in a 7f maiden on deep ground at Leopardstown; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (150/1 +0%) Needsomeluck |
150/1(+0%) | (4) Needsomeluck 150/1, Twice-raced filly. Last of 10 in maiden (125/1) at Leopardstown (6.5f, good to soft) 33 days ago, missing break. Big prices and down the field in maidens at Fairyhouse and Leopardstown. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This looks like a nice opportunity for NELDA to open her account. The 88-rated filly sets a good standard in this and is over a stone clear of the next highest according to the handicapper. She just failed by a neck to peg back Livio Milo in Galway last time and a similar effort should be enough to get her head in front now. There isn't a lot between a few of these on ratings and Hazalaya could be the one to give the selection most to do. The Siyouni filly ran okay last time at Killarney but had some stronger form previously and it's interesting that the cheekpieces are dispensed with now. Rebecca's Girl improved when finishing third at Navan last month and Colin Keane takes the ride again. She should get involved for the places.
This can go to NELDA, who has the best form on offer and only narrowly failed to open her account at Galway earlier this month. Muhaarar's Girl and Rebecca's Girl rate the principal dangers.
Unless the dogs are barking about newcomer Uncanny this looks best left to NELDA, whose only blip to date came in a Group race.

1st (5) (3.33/1 +56%) Yermanthere |
3.33/1(+56%) | (5) Yermanthere 3.33/1, 11/2, first run since leaving Patrick Foley when below form eighth of 15 in handicap at Naas (5.9f, soft) on reappearance 27 days ago. Back up in trip. May come on for the outing. Could do better returned to 7f and he's on a dangerous mark. |

2nd (1) (7/1 -27%) Loingseoir |
7/1(-27%) | (1) Loingseoir 7/1, Course winner. 20/1, good second of 12 in handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good) 12 days ago. On the shortlist after that. Had no luck at Galway before finishing runner-up in a Racing League handicap at Chepstow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (11/1 -10%) Rerkha |
11/1(-10%) | (10) Rerkha 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (8f, 14/1) 41 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Unexposed and worth a betting check. Could have some potential lurking for her top yard now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (8/1 +27%) Eloquent Arthur |
8/1(+27%) | (7) Eloquent Arthur 8/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 28/1, respectable third of 16 in handicap at Galway (7f, soft) 21 days ago. Has good chance on form. Perhaps better at 1m but he was third of 16 over this trip at Galway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3.33/1 -11%) Dragon Of Malta |
3.33/1(-11%) | (4) Dragon Of Malta 3.33/1, 4/1, career best when winning 16-runner handicap at Galway (7f, soft) 17 days ago. Raised 9 lb for that cosy success but he has gone close off similar marks before. Up 9lb for convincing Galway win but historically well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (80/1 -264%) Inablink |
80/1(-264%) | (9) Inablink 80/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Ninth of 17 in maiden at Gowran (9.4f, good to soft, 80/1) 65 days ago. Back down in trip. Makes handicap debut. Her penultimate fifth was encouraging with a view to competing off this sort of mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (11/1 -38%) First Gentleman |
11/1(-38%) | (8) First Gentleman 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/4, respectable third of 9 in maiden at Tipperary (7.4f, soft) 11 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Blinkers might spark something on handicap debut and this mark should be okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (7.5/1 -25%) Emorcee |
7.5/1(-25%) | (11) Emorcee 7.5/1, Fair maiden. Visored for 1st time, good second of 9 in handicap (12/1) at Galway (8.3f, soft) 16 days ago. Bumped into one well handicapped at Galway; drop in trip looks a positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (7.5/1 +38%) Pinar Del Rio |
7.5/1(+38%) | (6) Pinar Del Rio 7.5/1, 33/1 and visored for 1st time, creditable sixth of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (6f, good) 2 days ago. Back up in trip. Sixth at the Curragh on Sunday (6f) and needs to find a bit from somewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (28/1 -56%) Brains |
28/1(-56%) | (2) Brains 28/1, 16/1 and tongue strap on first time, first run since leaving John Butler when bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Killarney (8.1f, good to soft) 36 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. All bar one of his 11 British wins came on the AW; well held on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (12/1 -9%) Coins Cross |
12/1(-9%) | (3) Coins Cross 12/1, Below form eleventh of 18 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, good, 14/1) 10 days ago. Dropped his guard at the Curragh ten days ago; a player if putting best foot forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EMORCEE deserves to get his head in front and may prove the answer here. The Elzaam gelding ran really well at Galway last time when losing out late on to Malbay Madness over a mile. He may benefit for dropping back to 7f on this ground and has C&D form having just failed to get up here early last month. First Gentleman has been knocking on the door in maiden company and could be a danger here with blinkers fitted for the first time. Dragon Of Malta won well at Galway last time and has to be on the shortlist, despite a 9lb hike for that victory.
ELOQUENT ARTHUR's latest Galway third represents solid form so he gets the nod off the same mark. Colin Keane has got a good tune out of Dragon of Malta recently and even a 9 lb rise for his Galway win is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing. Longseoir and Emorcee are others to consider.
It was never in much doubt when DRAGON OF MALTA (nap) won comfortably at Galway and he can deal with this 9lb higher mark.

YAMALIA STAR came on nicely from her debut to chase home Beechwood at Killarney last month and ran another solid race when third to a smart-looking newcomer at the Galway festival. Jack Davison fits a visor for the first time and the daughter of Sea The Stars, a sister to Group 2 winner Endless Time, may be able to get her head in front on her fourth start. Fisherman's Beach kept on steadily to be third on debut at Limerick and is also tried in headgear. He has a little bit to find with the selection on a line through Limerick second Beechwood but is open to plenty of improvement. Jessica Harrington starts off Hardpoint, a half-brother to a pair of Listed winners over 1m4f and upwards, and the Camelot colt may be more of a contender than Dundalk fourth Great Cat Mau.
FISHERMAN'S BEACH has had his debut third franked by the runner-up winning since and can strike at the second time of asking. Jack Davison's Yamaila Star is next best on form, although if the market speaks for him it could be that the chief threat comes from the well-bred Jessie Harrington newcomer Hardpoint.
Not many to seriously consider. FISHERMAN'S BEACH shaped with a deal of promise at Limerick two months ago.

NOSTRA CASA overcame a two-year absence when beating good yardstick Grappa Nonino on stable debut at Sligo in April. Raised 10lb for that ready success, Paul Flynn's charge has run two solid races since including when third of 21 at the Curragh behind the aforementioned Grappa Nonino last time. The well-bred Dubawi gelding can win the race run in memory of his jockey's brother despite dropping back to a trip which may be shorter than ideal. The lightly-raced Narlita stayed on well when just failing to win over an extended nine furlongs at Gowran two runs back and may be suited by stepping up to this trip. Both Action Motion and Secret Sea won maiden hurdles earlier in the year and the latter has had a four-month break since finishing third on the Flat at Limerick when sent off a short-priced favourite. Action Motion came back from three months off to finish fifth over 1m3f at Killarney in July and may well strip fitter here.
HUMTAZA appeared to run out of petrol upped to 13f on her handicap debut at Down Royal last month and, back down in trip slightly here off a 3 lb lower mark, this lightly-raced filly could be the answer. Secret Rock is next on the list but he's certainly not the only potential threat, with the likes of Action Motion, Nostra Casa and L'Un Deux Trois all accorded respect, too.
After two fine runs in defeat on lively ground, NOSTRA CASA can get back on the scoresheet returning to soft ground
Ths is the racecard key.
