The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Violet Love sets a good standard but a double penalty for her previous wins puts her at a disadvantage in a race full of likely improvers and debutants. BRIGHT LILY and Little Lies appeal most from the rest with experience, with the former shading the vote after a highly-promising third over this trip on debut at Carlisle last month. Easy Peeler looks the pick of the newcomers.
The vote goes to newcomer MONTANA GIRL, who looks the part on paper and the hint should be taken if the market speaks in her favour. Fellow newcomer Flaine represents a yard that has saddled the winner of this race twice in recent years and she is second choice ahead of Bright Lily, who made an encouraging start to her career at Carlisle. Little Lies and Harvesting are both open to improvement, too, and need a second look.
Dual winner Violet Love has sound claims but she has a stiff task at the weights and the promising HARVESTING is just preferred.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having shown consistency across her three previous starts, ROGUE STATE offers strong appeal. With the promise of more to come now that she tries a mile, the daughter of Lope De Vega has every chance of getting off the mark on just her second appearance for Bryan Smart. Safio's Princess and Path To Glory are others to consider if they attract significant interest on their debuts.
One of the newcomers may well prove equal to this task, with SIEVIER marginally preferred to Path To Glory. Both represent yard's more than capable of readying one first time out and the betting will be informative. Rogue Estate is the clear pick of those with experience and, should the newcomers not rise to the occasion, she will probably emerge on top.
Although more exposed than most of these ROGUE STATE has shown enough to suggest she can win a race like this.

350/1(-961%) | (8) Penny Ghent 350/1, Bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap (50/1) at Beverley (7.4f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Plenty to prove at present. 0-6; better of two efforts since 585-day break when sixth last time but more needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
After a brace of course and distance wins, Havana Prince is a strong contender despite the imposition of another 3lb rise in the handicap. The recent Beverley winner Makalu, who is also a C&D winner, is another key player. However, this can go to GARDEN OASIS, who has held his form well and the topweight should appreciate returning to this grade after a second at Carlisle last month.
There was much to like about the way MAKALU went about his business when scoring at Beverley last month and he looks capable of following up off this 4 lb higher mark. The selection may have most to fear from the hat-trick seeking Havana Prince, who is 2-2 over this C&D and remains on a plausible mark. Garden Oasis is something of a course specialist and should be on the premises.
Veteran GARDEN OASIS is taken to win his sixth race over C&D by beating dual C&D winner Havana Prince and the in-form Makalu.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
High Opinion struck by just under a length to record a double at Catterick last time and he has a 5lb higher mark to contend with in a much tougher race. With that in mind, PADDY'S DAY looks the way to go after his second at Newcastle on his latest outing. The four-year-old looks well placed to get his head back in front. Albegone is another to note after his fifth at Thirsk.
HIGH OPINION was better than ever when scoring at Catterick last time and he's worth a chance to follow up at the possible expense of Paddy's Day, who also arrives in good order. Vadamiah could also feature if she's able to bounce back from a lesser effort.
In a tricky sprint handicap slight preference is for the well-drawn LEODIS DREAM, who was a good second over C&D two runs back.

7th (2) (200/1 -1150%) Normandy Vista |
200/1(-1150%) | (2) Normandy Vista 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 12/1 and visored for 1st time, last of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 8 days ago, slowly away. Blinkers on 1st time. Two serious defeats in 1m4f handicaps, at Newmarket and on AW; has a lot to find. |

8th (3) (300/1 -5900%) Barafundle Bay |
300/1(-5900%) | (3) Barafundle Bay 300/1, Career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm, 33/1) 9 days ago, cosily. Enters calculations. Major improvement to win handicap debut (1m3f) on good to firm; up 5lb; major contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BARAFUNDLE BAY beat Kinetic (third) by over four lengths on her handicap debut in this grade at Windsor last time. The daughter of Dartmouth could have any amount of improvement to come and is difficult to oppose. Sea La Venus has only shown fair form in her three starts to date, but she could prove a different proposition on her handicap debut with Tom Marquand booked. Rubio De Oro is also noted.
SEA LA VENUS has showed a bit to date and is bred to be much better than a mark of 62, so she's worth a chance to make a successful handicap debut at the possible expense of Barafundle Bay, who opened her account in ready fashion at Windsor recently. Godsend likely has a bigger effort in him, so he's feared, too.
Barafundle Bay was a revelation when winning her handicap debut but SEA LA VENUS is interesting at this level for the first time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Wichahpi continued her solid form when finishing second in this grade at Doncaster on her latest outing and she only has a 2lb higher mark to contend with. However, JESMOND DAWN looks the one to be on. The son of Dawn Approach appreciated the drop down in trip when beating a few of these at this level at Redcar last month. Grant Tuer's three-year-old looks to have lots going for him, while Socialise cannot be overlooked.
WICHAHPI did well to maintain her effort (made the running into a headwind) when second at Doncaster last time and she's unlikely to be seriously pressured for the lead here, so she's the one to side with. Jesmond Dawn was quite impressive on his first go at this trip last time, so he's the obvious threat, with Louella not ruled out.
Off the mark when dropped back to 6f at Redcar last time, JESMOND DAWN (nap) has a sound chance of following up despite a 6lb rise.
Ths is the racecard key.
