2.75/1(-10%) | (3) Mereside Diva 2.75/1, Latest win at Nottingham in May. 4/1, good ½-length second of 6 to Sacred Falls in handicap at Ayr (6f, soft) 17 days ago, clear of rest. Shortlist material. Nottingham winner in May and ran well behind Sacred Falls latest; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3.33/1 -33%) Sacred Falls |
3.33/1(-33%) | (6) Sacred Falls 3.33/1, Career best when winning 6-runner handicap (4/1) at Ayr (6f, soft) 17 days ago by ½ length from Mereside Diva, always holding on. Readily saw off Mereside Diva at Ayr last time (6f, soft); likely there's more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (12/1 -140%) Hardy Angel |
12/1(-140%) | (9) Hardy Angel 12/1, 22/1, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Hamilton (5f, soft) 18 days ago. Remains fairly treated on old form. 2-3 since dropped to 5f; effective over 6f on slow ground so can't be discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/1 +0%) Crypto Quest |
11/1(+0%) | (1) Crypto Quest 11/1, Good third of 8 in handicap (7/1) at Newcastle (5f) 7 days ago. More effective on turf and merits respect. In good form for his new yard but something to prove on slower than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/2 +44%) Blazing Son |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Blazing Son 9/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in May. Below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good to soft, 9/2) 26 days ago. Likely to be back on his game and shouldn't be taken lightly. C&D winner; on last winning mark and last two runs probably not as bad as they look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (10/1 +17%) Happier |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Happier 10/1, C&D winner. Below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft, 17/2) 11 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Not discounted. C&D win in May and 2nd in 3 of her next 4 runs; below par the last twice & needs a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (5/1 +44%) Isle Of Dreams |
5/1(+44%) | (2) Isle Of Dreams 5/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 5 runs this year. Latest win at Thirsk in July. 15/2, fourth of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good to soft) 26 days ago. Prolific since handicapping, including two C&D wins; still not fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (18/1 +10%) Slingsbytoo |
18/1(+10%) | (7) Slingsbytoo 18/1, Winner at Catterick in July. 10/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (5.6f, good) 33 days ago. Something to find on form. Came from well back to win at Catterick in July (5f); still unexposed as a sprinter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Sacred Falls finally got her head in front over 6f at Ayr last time and another bold bid can be expected, but the nod goes to the reopposing MERESIDE DIVA. David and Nicola Barron's charge was only a half-length behind the winner on that occasion and she appears to have a good chance of reversing that form off 2lb better terms here. Fellow last-time-out winner Hardy Angel heads the remainder with this extra yardage likely to suit.
MERESIDE DIVA was unable to get past Sacred Falls at Ayr last time but she's on slightly better terms and fancied to turn the tables in a race that the pair may dominate. Hardy Angel returned to form to score marginally at Hamilton recently, so he's another one to consider.
Isle Of Dreams will be dangerous back at a sharper track but SACRED FALLS (nap) looks the type to carry on improving with experience

Impeller |
(1) (6/1 +45%)6/1(+45%) | (1) Impeller 6/1, Below form fifth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Pontefract (6f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Others more persuasive. Good spell in July/August but his form has dipped the last twice. |

Parisiac |
(2) (6/1 +63%)6/1(+63%) | (2) Parisiac 6/1, Ninth of 11 in handicap (14/1) at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft) 30 days ago. More is needed. On a fair mark and rain won't bother him; promising apprentice booked; considered. |

Burj Malinka |
(6) (10/3 +17%)10/3(+17%) | (6) Burj Malinka 10/3, Latest win at Hamilton in September. Possibly found race coming too soon when seventh of 8 in handicap there (6f, soft) 18 days ago. Remains one to be interested in. Flopped when a warm favourite latest; all wins at Hamilton; others stronger today. |

(8) (11/1 -10%)11/1(-10%) | (8) Purple Martini 11/1, C&D winner. 2 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win at Musselburgh in May. Ninth of 10 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, soft, 5/2) 80 days ago so needs to get back on track. C&D winner on soft in April; also won over 7f in May; mixed since but needs consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Havana Rum |
(7) (13/2 -18%)13/2(-18%) | (7) Havana Rum 13/2, Latest win at Catterick in September. Last of 10 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, heavy, 11/2) 24 days ago. Not taken lightly at these weights if shrugging off latest effort. Flopped last time but earlier Catterick win (6f, soft) brings him into the reckoning. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Catch Cunningham |
(3) (13/2 +13%)13/2(+13%) | (3) Catch Cunningham 13/2, 9/1, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Shortlisted. Dropping down the weights and perhaps went for home too soon latest; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Glendown |
(4) (16/1 -167%)16/1(-167%) | (4) Glendown 16/1, Latest win at Chester in September. 10/3, fair fourth of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Possibilities. Impressive at Chester on penultimate start; less good last time; significant rain a query. |

Brother Sebastian |
(9) (33/1 +18%)33/1(+18%) | (9) Brother Sebastian 33/1, 25/1, last of 13 in handicap at Pontefract (5f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time with work to do. Struggled badly in handicaps this year; new cheekpieces not enough to tempt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BURJ MALINKA was a comfortable winner over 6f at Hamilton on his penultimate start before disappointing on his follow up bid, but he is fancied to return to form here. Kats Bob is feared most after scoring over 6f at Newcastle last time and he is capable of defying a 5lb rise for that win, while Glendown heads the remainder.
BURJ MALINKA beat only one at Hamilton last time but is worth forgiving that run which possibly came too quickly so he edges the vote in this tight-knit handicap. Recent Newcastle scorer Kats Bob is next on the list ahead of in-form pair Catch Cunningham and Glendown.
Kats Bob is high on the list but CATCH CUNNINGHAM is eased in grade and ran with more promise at Pontefract 11 days ago.

(11) (66/1 -65%)66/1(-65%) | (11) After Time 66/1, Modest maiden. Seventh of 11 in maiden (50/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 11 days ago. Form suggests she'll find easier opportunities when switched to handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EYE OF DUBAI made a promising start to his career when beaten just a neck over 6f at Chester on his racecourse debut and this looks like a good opportunity to go one better. It took a while for the penny to drop for John Quinn's charge on that occasion and he is likely to be more polished for that experience. Westend Avenue is the biggest danger to the selection, while Beale Street can build on his first appearance.
A weak novice so a good opportunity for EYE OF DUBAI, who went close on his debut at Chester 3 weeks ago. The Bobster and Beale Street both offered something to work on first-time out so are feared most.
The form choice is EYE OF DUBAI, who came home well at Chester once the penny finally dropped. Beale Street is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EMERALDS PRIDE is seeking a four-timer after scoring by a nose over C&D last time and she is only 3lb higher for that display, so the four-year-old could prove very hard to beat once again. So Grateful filled the runner-up spot over this trip at Ayr on his latest outing and has to be considered off only 1lb higher. Of the remainder, Woobay and Zuffolo make the most appeal.
EMERALDS PRIDE has been a revelation since the cheekpieces went back on, completing the hat-trick by the narrowest of margins but pulling clear with the runner-up over this C&D last month, and she should make a bold bid for the 4-timer. Woobay will be suited by conditions so is next best ahead of the consistent So Grateful.
Woobay is respected back on turf but soft-ground winner CUBANISTA looks persevering with over 5f and is preferred.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
RIBBLE RIVER shaped with plenty of promise when third on debut at Newcastle and the son of Ribchester should have plenty more to come, so he can shed his maiden tag at the second time of asking. Johnny Ringo sports a first-time tongue-tie after his encouraging first outing when runner-up at Musselburgh and also has to be respected, while any market support for newcomer Molten Rock would be of interest.
Kevin Ryan has his string in excellent form at present and RIBBLE RIVER seems sure to have learnt plenty from his debut, so he gets the nod with the step up to 1m in his favour. Puella Law was still green at Chelmsford and remains with potential, with Molten Rock a noteworthy newcomer in a race of this nature.
Back on turf, PUELLA LAW is well worth another chance. Ribble River and Molten Rock are also shortlisted.

(11) (20/1 +60%)20/1(+60%) | (11) Hoots Toots 20/1, Latest win at Thirsk in April. 12/1, bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap at Ayr (7., good to soft) 29 days ago. Tongue strap back on. Started this season with a Thirsk win (soft) but he's not come close to that form since. |

Caribbean Sunset |
(8) (20/1 -150%)20/1(-150%) | (8) Caribbean Sunset 20/1, Latest win at Newcastle in August. 5/2, unlucky not to finish closer when fourth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 14 days ago, meeting trouble several times. Big player. Generally reliable type who acts on soft and is still unexposed at this trip; shortlisted. |

Sezaam |
(6) (25/1 +0%)25/1(+0%) | (6) Sezaam 25/1, Course winner. Has a wide trip as a possible excuse for a poor run at Pontefract last time and he'd been a fair third at Carlisle prior to that. 0-9 since his 2yo win here two years ago and he has a patchy record; others preferred. |

Cassy O |
(7) (25/1 +24%)25/1(+24%) | (7) Cassy O 25/1, Course winner. Eighteen runs since last win in 2022. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Ayr (7.2f, good to soft, 9/2) 29 days ago. Others more persuasive. On a dangerous mark but losing run is up to 18 and he's finished eighth in last two runs. |

Cawthornes Gem |
(16) (100/1 -100%)100/1(-100%) | (16) Cawthornes Gem 100/1, 25/1 and blinkered first time, last of 7 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good to firm). Off 100 days. Less exposed than most of these but has something to prove at present. Has generally struggled in his six runs and can only be watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BAY OF HOPE returned from a 58-day break to hit the frame at Ripon last month and he was subsequently dropped 1lb by the handicapper, which could help him to get his head back in front. Last-time-out winner Gentle Ellen has to be considered off a 2lb higher mark, while Sassoon and Ratafia are others to respect in an open contest.
CARIBBEAN SUNSET caught the eye at Newcastle last time and is taken to build on that promise and land a first turf win. Asmund and Sassoon are both former winners of this race and might give Grant Tuer's charge most to think about ahead of Jkr Cobbler.
This looks wide open but JKR COBBLER gets the vote ahead of last year's winner Asmund and Bay Of Hope.

Should progress and rates a big palyer with that form proving strong. 15-2 at Leicester (1m2f, good to soft) last month and showed plenty to be third of seven. |

Shout To The Top |
(10) (150/1 -127%)150/1(-127%) | (10) Shout To The Top 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in minor event (50/1) at Newcastle (6f) 21 days ago, slowly away. Significantly up in trip with work to do. Her heavy defeats at Thirsk (6f, soft) and Newcastle (6f, AW) represented low-level form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This can go the way of RUN ZARAK RUN, who showed plenty of promise on her debut over 1m2f at Leicester last month and that form has worked out well. The booking of Hayley Turner is another plus and she is preferred to the Wolverhampton winner Verbier as well as the eight-race maiden Supreme King, who must be of interest on his first start for the David Evans yard.
RUN ZARAK RUN made a positive start when third in a Leicester maiden and looks the way to go with progress very much on the cards from this daughter of Zarak. Verbier and Shiva Shakti both have six-month absences to overcome but still merits plenty of respect and need factoring in.
Run Zarak Run shaped well on last month's debut. However, VERBIER may turn out to be good enough to defy the penalty.

Capable of bouncing back from a workable mark. Generally little impact in handicaps but close 3rd at Beverley (1m2f, soft) three runs ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Due to go up 8lb in the future, FOURSOME is very well treated on the back of an easy success at Nottingham last week. The four-year-old shouldn't have an issue returning to better ground and she gets the vote ahead of Shifter, who got up late to score over C&D last time out. The consistent Bay Of Naples must enter calculations, along with Broctune Red and Stockbridge Tap.
With rain in the forecast FOURSOME might get similar ground to when bolting up at Nottingham last week, in which case she could take a bit of stopping off effectively only 1 lb higher. Lucinda Russell pair Stockbridge Tap and Cuban Cigar head the dangers along with recent C&D winner Shifter.
Her previous 22 races, all defeats, are not forgotten but FOURSOME had her first run on heavy ground last Wednesday and won well.
Ths is the racecard key.
