1st (9) (15/2 -15%) Titainium |
15/2(-15%) | (9) Titainium 15/2, Winner at Newcastle in June and quickly back on track when second of 11 in handicap (8/1) at Ayr (10f, good) 14 days ago. Needs considering. 3yo who was a good second at Ayr (1m2f) latest and he still has potential; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (16/1 -113%) Young Fire |
16/1(-113%) | (4) Young Fire 16/1, Latest win at Haydock in July and shaped as if still in good form when fourth of 8 in handicap (5/2) at Pontefract (8f, good) 27 days ago, left poorly placed. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (4/1 +20%) Order Of Malta |
4/1(+20%) | (2) Order Of Malta 4/1, Returned to form back down in trip when fifth of 10 in handicap at Chester (10.3f, good to soft, 11/2) 20 days ago. Close fifth in Class 4 at Chester and has possibilities dropped back in grade; hood off. |

10/1(-82%) | (7) Volto Di Medusa 10/1, Winner at Bath in April and put a tame run behind him when third of 7 in handicap at Newmarket (10f, good) 15 days ago. Won at Bath in April but he's found it tough going in handicaps since; needs to raise game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (17/2 -6%) Shifter |
17/2(-6%) | (3) Shifter 17/2, C&D winner who shaped as if still in good form when sixth of 11 in handicap at Ayr (10f, good, 7/2) 14 days ago, left poorly placed. One to consider. C&D winner in May but has mixed record since and others are more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(-23%) | (11) Infinite Honour 8/1, Winner at Catterick in June and wasn't disgraced from a 4 lb higher mark when fourth of 7 at Chester (12.3f, good, 9/2) 28 days ago. Hit with 8lb rise for his Catterick win and was held at Chester last time; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/1(+73%) | (10) Langton Wold 9/1, 14/1, sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (16.6f, good to firm) 35 days ago. Fair on the Flat, not seen to best effect on last Flat run, racing freely with no cover. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Had wind op in June and he's struggled over hurdles since; something to prove back on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (13/2 +7%) Bearwith |
13/2(+7%) | (1) Bearwith 13/2, C&D winner who shaped as if back in form in a race not run to suit when fifth of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (9f, good to soft, 4/1) 19 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Must enter calculations. Dual course winner but he's been well held last twice and needs to get back near best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (18/1 +10%) Star Delta |
18/1(+10%) | (12) Star Delta 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden who showed a bit more than previously when third of 7 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Lot more required, however. 3yo who is unexposed but he needs improvement in his second handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A chance can be taken on ORDER OF MALTA, who was running on well late over an extended 1m2f at Chester earlier this month. Hugo Palmer's charge has better draw here and a 2lb drop in the ratings looks exploitable after that near two-length defeat. Bearaway looks the biggest danger after being narrowly beaten at Ayr last time and a 1lb rise doesn't appear out of his reach, while Jewel Maker heads the remainder.
A wide-open apprentice handicap and a chance is taken on top weight BEARWITH, who shaped as if back in form in a race not run to suit at Carlisle earlier in the month. Last year's winner Jewel Maker has been shaping up well of late and heads up the opposition, along with Shifter, who was left poorly placed on his most recent outing.
The vote goes to last year's winner JEWEL MAKER, who looked unlucky when a close fourth in a Racing League event last week.

JUNGLE DRUMS ran well when second in Listed company over 6f at Newbury last time and dropped back into these calmer waters, he should take all the beating. Karl Burke does well with his two-years-olds and this appears to be an ideal stepping stone before some bigger targets later on in the campaign. Debutant Sweet Cicely is fancied to pose the biggest threat to the selection, while Mister Sky Blue should benefit for this extra yardage.
JUNGLE DRUMS sets a clear standard having finished second in a listed race at Newbury and can resume winning ways under a penalty. Mister Sky Blue made good late inroads at Beverley on debut and can follow the selection home.
Back down in class, JUNGLE DRUMS sets a clear form standard. Interesting newcomer On Key is feared most.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/1 +20%) Leadenhall |
6/1(+20%) | (5) Leadenhall 6/1, Bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good to soft, 9/1) 16 days ago, left poorly placed. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Dangerous mark if the new headgear works; strong C&D form from May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (9/1 -29%) Carnival Zain |
9/1(-29%) | (6) Carnival Zain 9/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 13/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, good fourth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 14 days ago. Has good chance on form. More promise tried in cheekpieces over C&D two weeks ago; chance if building on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (33/1 -106%) Harlem Nights |
33/1(-106%) | (2) Harlem Nights 33/1, 9/4, respectable third of 6 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, good to firm), needing stronger gallop. Off 12 months. First run for yard after leaving James Horton. Two handicap wins (7f/1m) for J Horton last year; sold 42,000gns in May; betting useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (40/1 +20%) Sound Pressure |
40/1(+20%) | (3) Sound Pressure 40/1, Lightly-raced winner. Course winner. 20/1 and visored for 1st time, respectable seventh of 12 in nursery at York (7.9f, good to soft). Off 22 months. First run for yard after leaving James Horton. Won two novice events as a 2yo; absent for 686 days; risky on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The hat-trick seeking ZOZIMUS makes most appeal following two wins at Pontefract and he should be difficult to stop. David O'Meara's charge won in decisive fashion on his latest outing and a 5lb penalty doesn't appear likely to halt his progression. Carnival Zain arrives here 13lb below his last winning mark and he should not be discounted, while Empire Of Light could also be thereabouts.
EMPIRE OF LIGHT continues to shape well so remains of interest back against his elders. Hat-trick seeking Zozimus is the obvious threat under a penalty with Carnival Zain another to consider.
Zozimus isn't opposed lightly in his hat-trick bid but LEADENHALL's C&D third in May is strong form and headgear could help him.

1st (3) (9/4 +0%) Knights Affair |
9/4(+0%) | (3) Knights Affair 9/4, Deservedly off the mark at Musselburgh in July. Matched that form from revised mark when fourth of 5 in handicap at Catterick (12.1f, good to firm, 2/1) 31 days ago and slight step back up in trip will help his cause. Won over 2m at Catterick last month; fair 1m4f run since; one to consider back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +33%) Gastronomy |
10/3(+33%) | (4) Gastronomy 10/3, Doubled career tally over this C&D in July. Unpenalised for that so was disappointing when sixth of 7 in handicap (7/2) at Newcastle (16.2f) 22 days ago. Disappointing on AW three weeks ago but won over C&D previously and could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +23%) Animato |
5/1(+23%) | (2) Animato 5/1, Course winner who won back-to-back handicaps in May. 10/1, last of 8 in handicap at Thirsk (12f, good) 21 days ago, failing to impress with his attitude back in distance. Up and down this summer and well beaten last time, but good second previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/4 -29%) Marbuzet |
9/4(-29%) | (5) Marbuzet 9/4, Latest win at Doncaster in July. Consistent sort and did best of those off the pace when fourth of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (17.2f, good to soft, 13/2) 19 days ago, slowly away. Expected to be bang there from the same mark. Won at Doncaster last month; has continued in good heart; every chance he'll be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (50/1 -25%) Galahad Threepwood |
50/1(-25%) | (1) Galahad Threepwood 50/1, Hurdles winner in March 2023. Yet to find his feet for this yard, though latest run at Ayr can be overlooked given he was badly hampered. Significantly up in trip. Has struggled to get competitive in either code since winning over hurdles in March 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (8/1 -7%) Achnamara |
8/1(-7%) | (6) Achnamara 8/1, Unreliable individual. Latest win at Musselburgh in July. 12/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (17.2f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Others more persuasive. Won two in a row last month; down the field at Carlisle since but not written off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A comfortable winner over 2m at Musselburgh on his penultimate start, KNIGHTS AFFAIR wasn't suited by dropping back in trip on his latest outing at Catterick, although he did well not to be beaten far into fourth. Going back up in distance is a big plus, with Achnamara looking best placed to chase him home, having scored on two of his last three starts. A capable sort on his day, Marbuzet can also have a say in proceedings.
MARBUZET is pretty consistent at this sort of level and having stuck to his task in a race not run to suit at Carlisle last time, he needs treating as though still in form. He gets the vote in favour of Knights Affair and Red Force One.
Lightly raced 4yo KNIGHTS AFFAIR (nap) has enjoyed a progressive campaign and is taken to add to his win at Musselburgh two starts ago.

9/2(-29%) | (1) Archduke Ferdinand 9/2, Improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner handicap at Newmarket (6f, good to firm, 10/1) 7 days ago in re-fitted cheekpieces. Player up 3 lb if the headgear works as well again. Game front-running win at Newmarket last week; major player despite a 3lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (7/2 -56%) Novello Lad |
7/2(-56%) | (9) Novello Lad 7/2, Winner at Doncaster in June. 3/1, better than the result when third of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 15 days ago, clear of rest having been forced to switch. Has to be taken seriously. Improving this summer; latest Thirsk run can be upgraded; still capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8/1 +50%) Golden Duke |
8/1(+50%) | (5) Golden Duke 8/1, Creditable fifth of 11 in handicap (11/1) at Leicester (6f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Below last winning mark and should be at peak fitness now. Down to a handy mark and latest Leicester fifth was more encouraging; each-way shout. |

22/1(+45%) | (12) Alfa Whiteburd 22/1, 8/1, eighth of 12 in nursery at Newcastle (6f). Off 8 months. Difficult ask. 0-10 as a 2yo; had a wind op since last seen but looks best watched on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (5/1 +44%) Kitaab |
5/1(+44%) | (11) Kitaab 5/1, Unreliable sort. Respectable seventh of 21 in handicap at York (6f, good to firm, 28/1) 29 days ago, finishing well. Two seriously eyecatching efforts for new stable; good mark; one to note in the betting. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 +21%) Showhound |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Showhound 11/1, Seventh of 11 in handicap at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm, 80/1) 9 days ago. Lot to prove at present. 2nd in the novice on this card last year; quiet in handicaps this year but drops in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (33/1 -65%) Hail Sezer |
33/1(-65%) | (2) Hail Sezer 33/1, C&D winner who made a winning reappearance at Catterick in May. Tenth of 14 in handicap (6/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 26 days ago. Others more persuasive. Won this race off 6lb lower in 2022; good win at Catterick in May; below par on AW latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (28/1 -300%) Heroism |
28/1(-300%) | (3) Heroism 28/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Fourth of 8 in handicap at Doncaster (6f, good to firm, 17/2) 21 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (5/1 +64%) Stormy Pearl |
5/1(+64%) | (8) Stormy Pearl 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in July. Fourteenth of 15 in handicap (7/1) at Ayr (6f, good) 14 days ago, though that run easily excused from a bad draw in her quest from a hat-trick. Likely to bounce back. Two 6f wins in Class 6 events last month; disappointing latest; back up in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (33/1 0%) Marie's Secret |
33/1(0%) | (14) Marie's Secret 33/1, Fifth of 7 in handicap (10/3) at Catterick (6f, soft). Off 93 days. Something to find on form. Not solid but her best RPR came on good to firm, a surface she's not faced in last 7 runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (7) (18/1 +10%) Gentle Ellen |
18/1(+10%) | (7) Gentle Ellen 18/1, Eleventh of 15 in handicap (8/1) at Hamilton (6f, good) 11 days ago. Not out of this on placed efforts at Haydock prior to that. Consistent enough but 6f on faster than good might not place enough emphasis on stamina. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (13) (18/1 -125%) Soul Singer |
18/1(-125%) | (13) Soul Singer 18/1, Good second of 12 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 5/1) 63 days ago. Improving all the time recently. Ran as well as he ever has when 2nd over C&D nine weeks ago; up 2lb in a better race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Turned out again quickly after a game performance to land the Grey Horse Handicap at Newmarket last week, ARCHDUKE FERDINAND looks more than capable of following up off a 3lb higher mark. Only worn down late on when second over C&D last month, Soul Singer looks to be the main danger, along with Novello Lad, who was short of room at a crucial stage when attempting to land the double at Thirsk recently. Others to note include Heroism, Kitaab and Marie's Secret.
Having opened his account at Doncaster, NOVELLO LAD was unlucky not to finish closer at Thirsk a fortnight ago given his troubled passage. He needs treating as though still in top form so he shades the vote in favour of Archduke Ferdinand and Soul Singer.
Money for Kitaab would change the complexion of the race but NOVELLO LAD is improving and can gain his second win.

1st (3) (10/3 +5%) Hurstwood |
10/3(+5%) | (3) Hurstwood 10/3, C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2023. Bit below form fourth of 9 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm, 3/1) 13 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Has fallen 1 lb below last winning mark and he's one to consider. Won a division of this in 2022 and has shown promise this season; on the shortlist. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/1 +0%) Barnaby |
7/1(+0%) | (4) Barnaby 7/1, 66/1, got back on track when fourth of 12 in handicap at Catterick (6f, firm) 5 days ago, running on to be nearest at the finish. Remains lightly raced if he can build on that but 7f may well be worth exploring on that evidence. 3yo who was fair fourth at Catterick on Monday and may be able to build on that. |

16/1(-100%) | (6) Sydney Bay 16/1, Dual winner on AW upon joining present yard back in the autumn. 10th (10) (33/1 -65%) Delagate The Lady |
33/1(-65%) | (10) Delagate The Lady 33/1, Fourth of 11 in minor event (14/1) at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 15 days ago. 12/1(-140%) | (7) Arlington 12/1, Gained a second victory on all-weather when dead-heating at Newcastle (6f) 3 weeks ago and confirmed his return to form when second of 11 in minor event (6/1) at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Not out of things returned to handicaps. In good form in classified events the last twice and this 3yo can go well once more. |

150/1(-200%) | (8) Brazen Belle 150/1, Has offered little both starts since returning from a lengthy absence this summer, last of 10 in handicap at Catterick (5f, good to firm, 100/1) 18 days ago, very slowly away. The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ATOMISE finished five lengths clear of the third when hitting the crossbar at Ayr earlier in the month and is only 3lb higher for that performance. Michael Dods' five-year-old sports a first-time visor and may only need to reproduce that effort in order to go one better. Wrath Of Hector struck in commanding fashion at Yarmouth on his latest outing and holds an obvious chance off 4lb higher, while Barnaby can pick up any pieces.
Having caught the eye on occasions already this term, HURSTWOOD appeals as being on a workable mark and, with the return to 6f in his favour, he gets the nod to prove the point and come out on top. Atomise is knocking on the door and feared along with Yarmouth-scorer Wrath of Hector and Gunnerside.
A 4lb rise for WRATH OF HECTOR's convincing win at Yarmouth could prove lenient. He earns the vote ahead of Hurstwood.

Bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap (20/1) at Musselburgh (7.1f, good) 52 days ago, possibly in need of the run after 3 months off. Not one to give up on. Dual AW winner but he's 0-7 on turf and needs to raise his game back at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (66/1 -267%) Pink Stripes |
66/1(-267%) | (8) Pink Stripes 66/1, Remains a maiden after 26 Flat runs. 40/1, third of 10 in minor event at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 32 days ago, left poorly placed after meeting with trouble early. Not sure to be in same form here. 26-race maiden but was placed at Wolverhampton last time and has each-way claims again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (5/1 +23%) Dollarindex |
5/1(+23%) | (6) Dollarindex 5/1, Placed on 2 of last 3 starts and best not judged too harshly on latest eighth of 14 in handicap at Beverley (5f) 39 days ago, short of room soon after start. One to consider stepping back up in trip. 0-11 but she's on workable mark and could be dangerous back up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Pink Stripes produced a better effort to make the frame in a classified event at Wolverhampton last time and is an interesting contender back on turf in handicap company. However, the vote goes to KYBER CRYSTAL, who wasn't disgraced in third over 5f at Hamilton last month and has since undergone wind surgery. Hard Solution and Mrs Trump are others to note.
A dual winner already this term, MRS TRUMP has essentially held her form well in defeat subsequently and, with the return to this longer trip worth exploring, she could be the answer. Athollblair Boy and Kyber Crystal are others to consider, as is Urban Dandy in a trappy finale.
5yo KYBER CRYSTAL caught the eye with her late headway over 5f at Hamilton last time and she gets the vote ahead of Mrs Trump.
Ths is the racecard key.
