Classy Boy |
(3) (0.91/1 +48%)0.91/1(+48%) | (3) Classy Boy 0.91/1, Promising individual. 17/2, third of 12 in maiden at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) on debut 20 days ago. Stable's 2yos are thriving and he's open to improvement, so worth chancing. Finished his Doncaster race on the front foot and he should build on that. |

Ambushed |
(1) (5.5/1 -83%)5.5/1(-83%) | (1) Ambushed 5.5/1, 15/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, won 8-runner minor event at Newcastle (6f) 34 days ago, battling well. May do better still and merits plenty of respect. Dug deep to beat a subsequent winner at Newcastle; has the penalty. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ANGEL OF ENGLAND offered much more encouragement when denied by a neck at Thirsk last month and a similar level of performance may be enough for Edward Bethell's colt to shed his maiden tag here. Classy Boy wasn't disgraced on his debut when third at Doncaster and, with improvement forthcoming, he also makes some appeal. Last-time-out novice winner Ambushed can't be overlooked despite carrying a penalty.
CLASSY BOY shaped well on debut and should be able to find enough improvement to become the latest juvenile winner for a stable that's flying. Angel of England also has potential and looks the main danger, while Ambushed is worthy of respect as the only previous winner in the field.
If Ambushed is vulnerable under a penalty then it's CLASSY BOY or Angel Of England who are likely to take advantage.

Land Lover arguably sets the standard on the pick of his efforts this campaign, although the colt was somewhat underwhelming when finishing fourth at Ayr last month. SALAMANCA LAD may well need to progress in order to capitalise in this contest, but Richard Fahey's gelding made eye-catching progress in the second half of his York debut, suggesting that a race of this nature could be within his grasp. Bay Of Australia and Sweet Soul Music complete the shortlist.
SWEET SOUL MUSIC caught the eye with his finishing effort when fourth at Beverley on debut 9 days ago and, if the race doesn't come too soon, he could improve enough to open his account. Land Lover has the best form on show but is more exposed than the selection.
Preference is for SALAMANCA LAD who has been gelded since showing plenty of promise at York in May.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A competitive novice in which several warrant consideration, with NIBRAS ANGEL getting the nod. The Ismail Mohammed-trained filly ran out an impressive winner on her Lingfield debut last month and the third that day won a handicap off 77 next time. The selection may be able to defy a 7lb penalty here, while Gotta Show Me and last-time-out winners Mother Mary, Angel From Above and Moonspirit all enter calculations too.
NIBRAS ANGEL won in the style of a potentially useful filly on debut and can make it 2-2. Fellow previous winners Moonspirit and Mother Mary head the dangers along with Maremma and Vixey in an open race of its type.
Nibras Angel impressed on her debut but the likelihood of rain tips the scales in favour of soft-ground winner MOTHER MARY.

It can be a dangerous policy taking on one of Sir Mark Prescott's three-year-olds when they find their stride in handicaps and the progressive TIFFANY is well fancied in her quest for a four-timer. The daughter of Farhh has shown versatility regarding surface and switching back to turf isn't expected to pose any issues on the back of Saturday's cosy Newcastle success. The hat-trick seeking Freak Out is an obvious danger, while the class-dropping Highwaygrey is also noted.
TIFFANY is an archetypal Sir Mark Prescott 3-y-o, improving again to complete the hat-trick at Newcastle on Saturday. and she'll take an awful lot of stopping off the same mark. Highwaygrey can place again along with the hat-trick seeking Freak Out.
The forecast rain is an imponderable for TIFFANY but she escapes a penalty for her fairly comfortable AW win on Saturday.

Liberty Lane |
(4) (1.88/1 +44%)1.88/1(+44%) | (4) Liberty Lane 1.88/1, Impressive winner of sole start at 2. Useful efforts in defeat this year, proving suited by the drop back to 1m when fourth of 12 in Newmarket handicap 11 days ago. Tends to race freely but there could still be a bigger performance in him. Good fourth at Newmarket last month, his second handicap, and may still have potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pisanello |
(5) (4.5/1 -13%)4.5/1(-13%) | (5) Pisanello 4.5/1, Second Hamilton win of the year when edging ahead in the dying strides on soft ground 18 days ago. A 3 lb nudge is unlikely to prevent another prominent showing. Up to career-high mark after recent Hamilton win but the forecast rain is in his favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Titian |
(7) (5/1 +9%)5/1(+9%) | (7) Titian 5/1, Creditable third of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (1m, good to firm, 9/1) 20 days ago. Consistent and likely to be competitive again. Well suited by a straight mile and versatile regarding ground; can make his presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Positive Impact |
(1) (6/1 +8%)6/1(+8%) | (1) Positive Impact 6/1, Smart performance when a comfortable winner of a 1m Kempton handicap on his final 3-y-o start. Failed to fire in 2 outings in Dubai at the beginning of 2023 but contender if bouncing back to form after a break. Useful claimer takes a handy 5 lb off. Not seen since two underwhelming runs in UAE at start of year; others have less to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Another Batt |
(8) (7/1 +0%)7/1(+0%) | (8) Another Batt 7/1, Left his previous efforts this year behind when successful in a Class 4 at Ripon (1m, soft) 11 days ago. 4 lb rise isn't too severe but this is a better race. Won off reduced mark at Ripon recently but probably vulnerable to younger rivals here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Koy Koy |
(3) (9/1 -13%)9/1(-13%) | (3) Koy Koy 9/1, Useful and consistent last year. Easy to ignore his reappearance run in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot (raced on unfavoured part of the track) and he merits respect back in calmer waters now. Well beaten at Royal Ascot on only start this year but current mark is workable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Azano |
(2) (28/1 -180%)28/1(-180%) | (2) Azano 28/1, This usual front-runner won a 7f listed race here in 2021 and also bagged a C&D handicap last year. Still useful on his day but he does need to shrug off a lesser run here last time. C&D winner off 2lb higher last summer but too inconsistent to rely upon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
POSITIVE IMPACT has been given plenty of time to acclimatise after his short stint in Dubai earlier in the year, and is interesting introduced back into the fray at this time of year. He seems ideally suited by a mile and, with Connor Planas claiming 5lb, he has a live chance of making a winning return. Hamilton winner Pisanello is high on the shortlist off just 3lb higher, while Liberty Lane also enters calculations.
A useful handicap. LIBERTY LANE could do with learning to race more efficiently but there's still a feeling he could have a bigger performance in him and he's taken to see off his older rivals. Positive Impact struggled in Dubai at the start of the year but did well in Britain in 2022 and is second choice with Connor Planas taking 5 lb off his back. The likeable Pisanello should give it another good shot, while Koy Koy is fresh for this time of year and should find this easier than the Hunt Cup.
The one with most potential is the 3yo, LIBERTY LANE (nap), who kept on well for a creditable fourth at Newmarket recently.

Having struck the woodwork at Nottingham on his penultimate outing, MUTANAASEQ made no mistake when winning at Catterick five days later. Ruth Carr's eight-year-old remains feasibly treated judged on past exploits, too, and he appeals as the one to beat under a penalty. Recent Thirsk scorer Rainbow Rain looks set to go well, while Point Of Woods, who landed this contest two years ago, should not be underestimated.
RAINBOW RAIN was better than ever when doubling his career tally at Thirsk a month ago and in a race featuring mainly out-of-form rivals he looks to have plenty in his favour. Mutanaaseq is the other recent winner but the drop back in trip isn't bound to suit, with Lancashire Life another to consider.
Tim Easterby's WADE'S MAGIC is running well enough to believe his turn is near, and rain will aid his chance.

(9) (28/1 +15%)28/1(+15%) | (9) Galton 28/1, 12/1, last of 10 in handicap at Beverley (8.4f, soft) 43 days ago. Plenty to prove at present. Had been running well in 1m handicaps until finishing tailed off the last twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
EY UP ITS JAZZ has been steadily progressive this season, winning at Leicester in April before striking at Thirsk the following month. He still looks capable off this mark having finished a creditable second at Beverley nine days ago, and Tony Coyle's gelding shades preference. War Defender appeals as a likely player eased 1lb after his recent Doncaster third, with Motarajel expected to go well too.
EY UP ITS JAZZ has already won twice this year and got back on the up when runner-up at Beverley 9 days ago. so he's worth a chance to resume winning ways against more exposed types. War Defender and Makalu also arrive in good order and could well be involved in the finish.
Tim Easterby looks to have a strong hand with WAR DEFENDER and Motarajel. The selection has dropped to a very good mark.
Ths is the racecard key.
