|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (1.62/1 -8%) Grand Job |
1.62/1(-8%) | (5) Grand Job 1.62/1, Twice-raced maiden. 8¾ lengths fifth of 7 to Matrika in Airlie Stud Stakes (9/2) at the Curragh (6f, good) 74 days ago, possibly not helped by racing far side. Debut effort contained considerable promise and the form has worked out so likely she has more to offer. Promising Curragh debut not backed up albeit in Group 2 company afterwards; upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (28/1 -180%) Expecting A Star |
28/1(-180%) | (3) Expecting A Star 28/1, Foaled January 27. €50,000 yearling, Zoustar filly. Dam useful French 7f-1m winner out of smart winner up to 7.5f (including at 2 yrs) Lady Wingshot. Zoustar filly a 50,000Euros yearling; interesting jockey booking for debutante. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5.5/1 +50%) Camelot Alexander |
5.5/1(+50%) | (2) Camelot Alexander 5.5/1, 16/1, showed plenty to work on when fourth of 11 in maiden at Tipperary (7.4f, soft) on debut 33 days ago, not knocked about. Sure to do better. Definite debut promise at Tipperary; expected to improve for that and one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (50/1 +24%) More Profit |
50/1(+24%) | (8) More Profit 50/1, Ninth of 11 in minor event at Naas (5.9f, good, 25/1) on debut 67 days ago. Well held when stiff enough task on debut in Naas winners race in July; upped in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (14/1 -87%) Balanda |
14/1(-87%) | (1) Balanda 14/1, Foaled March 20. Caravaggio filly. Half-sister to 6f/7f winner Baladiya and useful 7.4f winner Baraniya. Dam, 2-y-o 7f winner, half-sister to useful 8.6f-1½m winner Bashiyr. Newcomer for whom market likely best guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (5.5/1 -38%) Greenfinch |
5.5/1(-38%) | (6) Greenfinch 5.5/1, Foaled January 12. Justify filly. Half-sister to several winners, including high-class winner up to 7f U S Navy Flag (won July Cup and second in Irish 2000 Guineas). Lots to like on paper for top stable. Half-sister to top 2yo U S Navy Flag; superbly-bred although holds no fancy entries. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (200/1 -100%) Loveforce |
200/1(-100%) | (7) Loveforce 200/1, Twice-raced filly. 150/1, thirteenth of 16 in maiden at Naas (7f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Two moderate runs, easily passed over. |

20/1(+29%) | (4) Galel 20/1, 18/1, sixth of 11 in maiden at Naas (5.9f, good) on debut 17 days ago, not knocked about. Likely to improve. Late progress on Naas debut last month over 6f; longer trip to suit and improvement likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (25/1 -25%) Tiffany Twisted |
25/1(-25%) | (10) Tiffany Twisted 25/1, Foaled March 4. Inns of Court filly. Half-sister to 2 winners, including 6f-1m winner Darkdeserthighway. One to note on debut. Recent barrier trial second respected on rules debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
GRAND JOB ran a cracker on debut when runner-up to Matrika in a Curragh maiden that has worked out particularly well since. The Joseph O'Brien-trained filly disappointed subsequently behind the same rival, although she was also probably on the wrong side, in a messy Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes at the same venue on Irish Derby weekend. She's been given a break and hopefully can recapture that initial promise. Camelot Alexander should progress from her Tipperary debut while Greenfinch is certainly bred in the purple being by Justify out of the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Misty For Me who has already produced Group 1 winners U S Navy Flag and Roly Poly. Balanda and Rising Sign are other newcomers to note.
GRAND JOB drops in grade and she's worth another chance. Newcomers Greenfinch and Rising Sign are respected, while Camelot Alexander is open to improvement after a good start at Tipperary and could be on the premises.

1st (6) (1.25/1 +17%) Ocean Conquest |
1.25/1(+17%) | (6) Ocean Conquest 1.25/1, Promising type. Fifth of 12 in maiden (9/4) at the Curragh (8f, good) 18 days ago, finding less than looked likely. Still looks the one to beat. Didn't seem to stay 1m at the Curragh; easier track here could suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (5.5/1 +69%) Shamsuddin |
5.5/1(+69%) | (9) Shamsuddin 5.5/1, 16/1, seventh of 13 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, good to soft) on debut 25 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Sure to improve with that under his belt. Shaped okay on last month's Curragh debut; better for that experience and don't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (3.5/1 -5%) Rapid Mission |
3.5/1(-5%) | (7) Rapid Mission 3.5/1, Showed more than on debut when eighth of 12 in maiden at the Curragh (8f, good) 18 days ago. Showed a bit more at the Curragh last time; eligible for a mark after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (12/1 -20%) Rocking Tree |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Rocking Tree 12/1, Seventh of 13 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, good, 18/1) on debut 32 days ago. Should progress. Plenty keen when never involved on Curragh debut last month; needs to improve plenty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (25/1 -39%) Kaptain Bay |
25/1(-39%) | (4) Kaptain Bay 25/1, Foaled March 31. €14,000 foal, €30,000 yearling, New Bay colt. Dam maiden half-sister to useful 9f/1¼m winner (stayed 1½m) Casilda. Debutant appears the lesser likely of the Meade pair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (50/1 -400%) Navajo Scout |
50/1(-400%) | (5) Navajo Scout 50/1, 18/1, sixth of 9 in maiden at Dundalk (8f) on debut 29 days ago. Well held on last month's Dundalk debut; likely to need more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (66/1 -32%) Interestnpenalties |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Interestnpenalties 66/1, Twice-raced colt. 33/1, sixth of 8 in maiden at Roscommon (7.4f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Promise in both starts but looks a more likely type for nurseries. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (4/1 -33%) Fighter |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Fighter 4/1, Foaled January 18. Frankel colt. Closely related to very smart winner up to 1½m Trading Leather and useful 11f/1½m winner Wexford Town and half-brother to 7f winner Gleadhradh. Lot to like on paper for top yard. Frankel colt of obvious appeal from top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (200/1 -100%) I've Been Dreaming |
200/1(-100%) | (3) I've Been Dreaming 200/1, Last of 8 in maiden at Gowran (7f, good, 125/1) on debut 7 days ago, very slowly away. Lost all chance at the start on Gowran debut early this month; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (250/1 -150%) Edella |
250/1(-150%) | (10) Edella 250/1, Last of 11 in maiden at Naas (5.9f, good, 150/1) on debut 17 days ago, slowly away. Significantly up in trip. Blew the start when last of 11 on recent Naas debut; easily passed over. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
OCEAN CONQUEST has put in two solid efforts at the Curragh and can open his account at the third attempt. The son of Time Test cost 200,000 at the Newmarket Breeze Up Sale in May and made a bright start behind Henry Longfellow before only giving best inside the final furlong when fifth to Tamrat over this trip last month. He had Rapid Mission just over a length behind on the latter occasion. Fighter is certainly of interest being a newcomer from Ballydoyle and the Frankel colt out of a Sinndar mare is a three-parts brother to Irish Derby winner Trading Leather. Shamsuddin and Rocking Tree should both progress from debut runs at the Curragh.
OCEAN CONQUEST cost plenty at the breeze-ups and while he was a shade disappointing at the Curragh 3 weeks ago, he's well worth another chance given the promise of his debut. Fighter ticks plenty of boxes on debut, with Rapid Mission another to consider.
Probably not the strongest of maidens and Ballydoyle's newcomer FIGHTER, a son of Frankel, could be good enough

1st (11) (7.5/1 -200%) Perfect Poise |
7.5/1(-200%) | (11) Perfect Poise 7.5/1, 12/1, very good second of 17 in handicap at Navan (8f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Expected to be bang there. Just failed to get up in Navan handicap over this trip last month; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (10/1 -25%) Church Mountain |
10/1(-25%) | (1) Church Mountain 10/1, Latest win at Killarney in July. Creditable seventh of 19 in handicap (25/1) at the Curragh (10f, good to soft) 25 days ago. First run for yard after leaving M. D. O'Callaghan. Hasn't stayed 1m2f of late; back at optimum trip for new yard and not one to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) (8/1 +27%) Darkdeserthighway |
8/1(+27%) | (14) Darkdeserthighway 8/1, 28/1, respectable eighth of 20 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, good to soft). Off 110 days. Absent since two runs back in May when not beaten far; 5lb lower so can't be ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (5.5/1 +15%) Morning Approach |
5.5/1(+15%) | (12) Morning Approach 5.5/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 9/2, creditable second of 18 in handicap at Leopardstown (9f, good) 27 days ago, finishing well. Stable having good spell. Looks competitive on form. Hold-up performer probably not the easiest of rides but on a nice mark and could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (5.5/1 +39%) Mere Accountant |
5.5/1(+39%) | (8) Mere Accountant 5.5/1, 11/2, good third of 11 in handicap at Bellewstown (7.8f, good) 15 days ago. Trainer going well. Should go well again. Recent Bellewstown third was arguably a seasonal best; could go well from a low draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (14/1 +30%) Solar Breeze |
14/1(+30%) | (10) Solar Breeze 14/1, Respectable ninth of 17 in handicap at Navan (8f, good to soft, 14/1) 13 days ago. Plenty to find on two runs this summer despite reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (10/1 +17%) Akmaam |
10/1(+17%) | (5) Akmaam 10/1, 11/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 13 days ago. Recent Newcastle run modest, definite claims on previous close Curragh fourth at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (14/1 +30%) Kodiac Prince |
14/1(+30%) | (7) Kodiac Prince 14/1, 11/2, eleventh of 16 in handicap at Naas (10.5f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Back down in trip. Back at probably his best trip here so don't rule out; draw not great. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (50/1 -25%) Zahee |
50/1(-25%) | (4) Zahee 50/1, Unreliable type. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 50/1, bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap at Clonmel (9.6f, good) 6 days ago. Out of form although excuses at Clonmel last week so wouldn't be one to readily rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (4.5/1 +31%) One Boss |
4.5/1(+31%) | (9) One Boss 4.5/1, 6/1, good second of 11 in handicap at Bellewstown (7.8f, good) 15 days ago. Enters calculations. Bellewstown second a seasonal-best; sure to be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (14/1 -27%) Exquisite Acclaim |
14/1(-27%) | (6) Exquisite Acclaim 14/1, One win from 21 Flat runs. Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. Creditable eighth of 17 in handicap (18/1) at Navan (8f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Visor back on. AW winner is now 0-15 on turf and remains opposable off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (18/1 +45%) Dromantine |
18/1(+45%) | (13) Dromantine 18/1, 7/1, fourteenth of 15 in handicap at Leopardstown (7.2f, good) 27 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Better on AW: tame turf return at Leopardstown raises questions and tried in cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (16/1 -167%) Mulgrave |
16/1(-167%) | (3) Mulgrave 16/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this year. 66/1, thirteenth of 17 in handicap at Navan (8f, good to soft) 13 days ago, finishing with running left. Booking of Stone-Walsh a plus. Terrific AW form early this year not transferred to turf; down 11lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (2) (150/1 -127%) Wild Mountain |
150/1(-127%) | (2) Wild Mountain 150/1, Eleventh of 13 in handicap (125/1) at Dundalk (6f) 29 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Both runs this term modest; hard to fancy despite reduced mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PERFECT POISE caught the eye when keeping on behind Mashia in a 20-runner maiden at Naas back in May and the Ger Lyons-trained filly went close on her second handicap start again over this trip at Navan recently when just failing by a nose to Signora Bellissima. She remains on an attractive mark and has scope for further improvement. Morning Approach won over this trip at Leopardstown last summer and, having dropped down to a lower mark, comes here after a couple of solid placed efforts including when beating all bar Celebrating Ethel again at Leopardstown. Church Mountain won over a mile at Killarney in July while Akmaam also advertised his chance over this trip when beaten less than a length at the Curragh last month. One Boss has been a model of consistency this year and is another for the shortlist.
PERFECT POISE only just failed on her second go in a handicap at Navan 2 weeks ago and makes plenty of appeal off 1 lb lower. Morning Approach, Mere Accountant and One Boss make up the shortlist.

1st (4) (1.25/1 +69%) Fleetfoot |
1.25/1(+69%) | (4) Fleetfoot 1.25/1, Winning reappearance in April. 5/2 and tongue strap on for 1st time, very good second of 5 in minor event at Roscommon (10f, good to soft) 9 days ago, sticking to task. Needs to improve again. Ran in good maidens last year, won on seasonal debut, good recent run at Roscommon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6.5/1 +35%) Migdam |
6.5/1(+35%) | (3) Migdam 6.5/1, Useful gelding. Twentieth of 22 in handicap (12/1) at the Curragh (10f, good to soft) 3 days ago, hampered. May yet come good for this yard. Three-time winner for Sir Michael Stoute, eased when beaten at the Curragh on Sunday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (6/1 -9%) Oriole |
6/1(-9%) | (6) Oriole 6/1, Fairly useful filly. 8/1 and cheekpieces on for first time, career best when winning 16-runner handicap at Naas (10.5f, good to soft) 17 days ago, responding well. Showed good attitude when winning a handicap at Naas, faces a tough task at these weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (10/1 -25%) Jungle Cove |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Jungle Cove 10/1, Useful gelding. Nineteenth of 22 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good to soft, 50/1) 3 days ago, missing break. Blinkers back on and tardy starts always a worry with him. Won big handicaps last year at Leopardstown and Ascot, well below best last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (2/1 -67%) Hannibal Barca |
2/1(-67%) | (1) Hannibal Barca 2/1, Useful gelding. 11 lengths last of 7 to Goldana in Gladness Stakes (5/1) at the Curragh (7f, heavy), inadequate test. Off 150 days and back over a more suitable trip. Major player. Group 3 winner last year on stable debut, nothing has gone right since, best at weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HANNIBAL BARCA has been campaigned at the highest level including behind Westover in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby last year and appears to have found a good opportunity to add to his tally. The son of Zoffany won as a juvenile for Brian Meehan before a creditable fourth to Luxembourg in the Group 1 Vertem Futurity Trophy at Doncaster and landed the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes for current connections over 1m2f at the Curragh last season. He's absent (and been gelded) since soundly beaten on testing ground in the Gladness Stakes at the same venue this spring. Fleetfoot has always been held in good regard by connections and shaped well on his reappearance at Roscommon last week. Jungle Cove won valuable handicaps at Leopardstown and Ascot last year but hasn't reached that level this season, while Migdam ran better than his finishing position would suggest at the Curragh on Sunday.
HANNIBAL BARCA is back over a much more suitable trip and on his peak form, his claims are fairly obvious on these terms. Migdam has yet to find his feet for this yard but it's still early days and he's feared most.
Joseph O'Brien's HANNIBAL BARCA is the best horse in the race but has something to prove after failing to live up to high expectations

1st (4) (33/1 -175%) Casheldale Lad |
33/1(-175%) | (4) Casheldale Lad 33/1, Raven's Pass gelding. Half-brother to 1¼m winner Liffeydale Dreamer. Dam lightly raced. Wears hood. Raven's Pass gelding hooded for debut and probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 +0%) Vera's Secret |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Vera's Secret 4/1, Epaulette filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including useful 1m winner Brains and 1m winner Pure Action. Market best guide on belated debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5.5/1 +39%) City Exile |
5.5/1(+39%) | (5) City Exile 5.5/1, Fairly useful gelding. 10/1 and blinkered for 1st time, creditable fourth of 10 on handicap debut at Leopardstown (8f, good) just less than 3 months ago. Promising handicap debut last time; trip could suit although draw a possible negative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (40/1 -21%) Rapid City |
40/1(-21%) | (1) Rapid City 40/1, Twice-raced colt. 50/1, showed more than first time up when fourth of 15 in maiden at Bellewstown (7.8f, good) 15 days ago. Bellewstown promise depite not handling track; likely has more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (5.5/1 -10%) Guided |
5.5/1(-10%) | (11) Guided 5.5/1, 12/1, matched previous form but left the impression she still has more to offer when fourth of 9 on handicap debut at Galway (8.3f, soft) 38 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Surprising if she played a major role unless cheekpieces bring about improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (33/1 +50%) Gentle Breath |
33/1(+50%) | (10) Gentle Breath 33/1, 66/1, twelfth of 16 in minor event at Naas (5.9f, good to soft) on debut, slowly away. Off 12 months. Significantly up in trip. Never counted on Naas debut a year ago; best watched on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (4/1 -14%) Ultra Fine |
4/1(-14%) | (9) Ultra Fine 4/1, Promising individual. 10/3, wasn't seen to best effect and still looked very rough around the edges when fifth of 15 in maiden at the Curragh (10f, good) 31 days ago. Visor on 1st time. One to consider. Touched off at Killarney but Curragh run a backward step; visor fitted and dropped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (5/1 -43%) Nakassama |
5/1(-43%) | (7) Nakassama 5/1, Promising individual. 14/1, first run since leaving J. F. Levins when second of 10 in maiden at Down Royal (10.3f, good to soft) 47 days ago, just failing. Open to further improvement, so holds leading claims. Runner-up both starts at 1m2f; drop in trip may not be ideal but major contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (150/1 -127%) Keilah |
150/1(-127%) | (12) Keilah 150/1, Harzand filly. Half-sister to winner abroad by No Nay Never. Dam runner-up at 10.5f in France. Unlikely type to make an immediate impact. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (12/1 +52%) Time To Soar |
12/1(+52%) | (14) Time To Soar 12/1, Lightly-raced filly. Wasn't in the same form as previously when seventh of 8 in maiden (9/2) at Clonmel (9.6f, good) 6 days ago, slowly away. Disappointed at Clonmel last week but previous Gowran run would put her in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (5/1 -43%) Jack Red Cloud |
5/1(-43%) | (6) Jack Red Cloud 5/1, Showed plenty to work on amidst obvious signs of greenness when fourth of 11 in maiden (16/1) at Leopardstown (8f, good) on debut 20 days ago, nearest finish. Should improve. Definite debut promise last month; more expected of and could improve enough to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (28/1 +44%) Party Dress |
28/1(+44%) | (13) Party Dress 28/1, €18,000 yearling, Mastercraftsman filly. Half-sister to several winners, including useful German/Italian winner up to 1m Exclusive Potion and 1m-9.4f winner You Owe Me Money. Mastercraftsman filly cost 18,000Euros as a yearling; newcomer worth a market watch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (150/1 +0%) Proleek Prince |
150/1(+0%) | (8) Proleek Prince 150/1, Palavicini gelding. Dam unraced out of 1¼m-1½m winner (stayed 2m) The Last Alzao. Newcomer of little appeal on breeding. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (2) (200/1 -203%) Sweet Liberty |
200/1(-203%) | (2) Sweet Liberty 200/1, No show in a pair of bumpers, pulled up at Bellewstown (17.2f, good, 66/1) 2 weeks ago. Cheekpieces on for this Flat debut and can only be watched. Couple of poor runs in Bellewstown bumpers; cheekpieces fitted for flat debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JACK RED CLOUD made a promising debut over a mile at Leopardstown last month and perhaps can improve enough to open his account here. The selection is by Sioux Nation but there is plenty of stamina on the dam side of the pedigree and he came home well into fourth behind Pivotal Revive. Ultra Fine went close over 1m3f at Killarney and didn't enjoy the clearest of passages at the Curragh last time, while Nakassama was claimed after going close on debut and was again just denied over 1m2f in a Down Royal maiden. Guided also looks well capable of success judged on four outings and is now fitted with cheek pieces, while City Exile and Time To Soar are others to consider in what looks a competitive maiden.
NAKASSAMA has filled the runner-up spot by narrow margins on both outings so far and with further improvement on the cards, James McAuley's 3-y-o is fancied to go a place better at the expense of Ultra Fine, who still looked very rough around the edges at the Curragh last month and remains capable of better. 1st (6) (4.5/1 +44%) Star Galaxy |
4.5/1(+44%) | (6) Star Galaxy 4.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 11/10 and hooded for 1st time, third of 9 in maiden at the Curragh (10f, good). Off 108 days. Interesting handicap debutant for top stable and she's open to improvement. Lightly raced unexposed filly making handicap debut; trip to suit and potential improver. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7.5/1 -50%) Angelic Appeal |
7.5/1(-50%) | (3) Angelic Appeal 7.5/1, Career best when winning 14-runner handicap (8/1) at the Curragh (10f, good) 31 days ago. Can go well again. Curragh handicap debut win working out well; up 7lb but quite likely has more to offer. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (22/1 -10%) New Hill |
22/1(-10%) | (10) New Hill 22/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fifth of 9 in handicap (10/1) at Ballinrobe (9.4f, good to soft) 51 days ago. Not discounted. Some appeal of decling mark but wants it softer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (20/1 -186%) You Owe Me Money |
20/1(-186%) | (4) You Owe Me Money 20/1, 10/3, career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Gowran (9.4f, soft), keeping on well. Off 4 months since and needs to be better than ever again. Absent since Gowran wins in May; ground on the quick side here so would welcome rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (8/1 +43%) Machnamh |
8/1(+43%) | (13) Machnamh 8/1, Winner at the Curragh in July. 10/1, respectable fifth of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, good) 31 days ago. Not ruled out. Best form is on softer ground over shorter; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (4.5/1 +25%) Celebrating Ethel |
4.5/1(+25%) | (7) Celebrating Ethel 4.5/1, Career best when winning 18-runner handicap (10/1) at Leopardstown (9f, good) 27 days ago. Going the right way and seems likely to feature again. Leopardstown winner 6lb higher so will need to step up again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (14/1 +50%) Independent Expert |
14/1(+50%) | (5) Independent Expert 14/1, Latest win at Limerick in June. 8/1, creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at Leopardstown (8f, good) 20 days ago. Vulnerable to less-exposed types. Consistent sort respected although this trip could stretch her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (4/1 -20%) Everylittlestep |
4/1(-20%) | (9) Everylittlestep 4/1, 3 wins from 7 runs this year. Latest win at Gowran in August. Creditable second of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, good to soft, 6/4) 24 days ago. Thriving at present and worth a chance to resume winning ways. Much improved mare denied four-timer at the Curragh; Keane back on, has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (11/1 -38%) Encosta |
11/1(-38%) | (11) Encosta 11/1, 5/1, creditable third of 6 in handicap at Leopardstown (9f, good to soft) 48 days ago. Holding her form but others look better treated. Solid Leopardstown form of late; return to better ground should suit and one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (12/1 +40%) Hasten Slowly |
12/1(+40%) | (12) Hasten Slowly 12/1, Bit below form 4½ lengths seventh of 14 to Angelic Appeal in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good, 8/1) 31 days ago. Drop back in trip should benefit her. Didn't appear to stay 1m2f last time; intermediate trip okay and ground in her favour. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (20/1 -100%) Bambeano |
20/1(-100%) | (8) Bambeano 20/1, 2 wins from 5 runs this year. 28/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Gowran (8f, soft) 46 days ago by 1¾ lengths from Independent Expert, slowly away. Could do better still, so merits respect. Gowran soft-ground winner; 8lb higher and quicker ground to contend with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (16/1 +0%) Getawiggleon |
16/1(+0%) | (1) Getawiggleon 16/1, Latest win at Gowran in June. 80/1, 7½ lengths twelfth of 14 to Unless in listed race at the Curragh (10f, good) 31 days ago. Others have achieved more. Out of depth in Listed contests lately; 14lb higher on return to handicap company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ANGELIC APPEAL scored on her first handicap start at the Curragh last month and the form of that 1m2f event has been well advertised since with the second and the fourth both winning handicaps next time out. The well-bred daughter of Siyouni can follow up off a 6lb higher mark. Everylittlestep completed a hat-trick this summer and, despite a combined 21lb hike for that run of success, went close last time in a 19-runner handicap at the Curragh. She's now reunited with champion jockey Colin Keane and is well suited by this trip. Bambeano provided Orla McKenna with her first winner when beating Independent Expert and Machnamh at Gowran Park while Star Galaxy has shown promise in three maiden starts and is an interesting contender on her handicap debut.
EVERYLITTLESTEP is thriving at the moment and, having travelled like the best horse at the weights when second at the Curragh last time, she's worth a chance to add a fourth success of the campaign. Angelic Appeal is an obvious danger on the back of a successful handicap bow at the Curragh and Star Galaxy is open to improvement.

2nd (2) (3.33/1 +33%) Alfalfa |
3.33/1(+33%) | (2) Alfalfa 3.33/1, 10/1, very good second of 17 in handicap at Navan (10f, good to soft) 11 days ago, faring best of those held up. Stable having good spell. Stepping back in the right direction. Player. Stable is in good form, leading contender on the basis of recent second of 17 at Navan. |

6.5/1(-8%) | (8) Slieve Bearnagh 6.5/1, Landed 18-runner handicap (11/2) at Navan (10f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Can go well again despite a 4 lb rise. Narrow winner of 1m2f apprentice handicap at Navan 11 days ago, fair chance off 4lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (28/1 -12%) Deuteronomy |
28/1(-12%) | (13) Deuteronomy 28/1, Blinkered for 1st time, creditable sixth of 15 in handicap at Killarney (8.1f, good, 25/1) 20 days ago, slowly away. One for the shortlist. No success in 14 outings, mild encouragement from sixth placing at Killarney last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (33/1 -65%) Leabaland |
33/1(-65%) | (5) Leabaland 33/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Ninth of 13 in handicap at Tipperary (9f, good to soft, 14/1), downed tools. Off 146 days. Needs a couple of these to falter. Went close over 1m at Dundalk in March, soundly beaten in two turf starts in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (16/1 +11%) Queen Mab |
16/1(+11%) | (10) Queen Mab 16/1, 9/1, eleventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (8f) 29 days ago. Enters calculations if shrugging off latest effort. Third over 1m at Bellewstown in July, each-way chance if forgiven below-par Dundalk run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (18/1 -80%) Feature This |
18/1(-80%) | (7) Feature This 18/1, Latest win at Dundalk in April. Tenth of 13 in handicap at Leopardstown (9f, good, 7/1) 27 days ago so more is needed. Dual AW winner, limited experience on turf and needs to step up on recent performances. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (18/1 -13%) Shawaf |
18/1(-13%) | (14) Shawaf 18/1, One win from 33 Flat runs. Twenty runs since last win in 2020. Tenth of 15 in handicap (8/1) at Bellewstown (7.8f, good) 15 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Overall record (1-36) is a significant negative, creditable fourth on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (7.5/1 +38%) Barretstown |
7.5/1(+38%) | (6) Barretstown 7.5/1, Respectable eighth of 17 in handicap at Navan (10f, good to soft, 25/1) 11 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Merits consideration. Dual AW winner yet to score on turf, runner-up three times last term, held by Alfalfa. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (50/1 -52%) Atlas |
50/1(-52%) | (12) Atlas 50/1, Thirty three runs since last win in 2020. Eleventh of 16 in handicap at Gowran (9.5f, soft, 8/1) 46 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Retains some ability but three years and a few months now since the last of his four wins. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (10/1 -67%) Super Cub |
10/1(-67%) | (1) Super Cub 10/1, Respectable fifth of 18 in handicap at Cork (7f, good to soft, 13/2) 14 days ago. Up in trip and merits serious consideration with blinkers back on. Seldom runs a bad race but a record of one win from 29 starts is a source of major concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (33/1 -230%) Together Aclaim |
33/1(-230%) | (9) Together Aclaim 33/1, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. 16/1, last of 15 in handicap at Killarney (8.1f, good) 20 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Signs of winning potential on occasions but now a 23-race maiden, last of 15 on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (4) (28/1 +15%) Brave Thought |
28/1(+15%) | (4) Brave Thought 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Tongue strap on for 1st time, below form fifth of 14 in maiden (16/1) at Dundalk (7f) 29 days ago. Back up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Needs to bounce back. Four runs of similar standard, probably needs to raise her game in order to win a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) (18/1 +55%) Angel On Fire |
18/1(+55%) | (11) Angel On Fire 18/1, 25/1, eleventh of 15 in handicap at Gowran (9.4f, good) 28 days ago. Cheekpieces on for the 1st time with more required. Managed one good run at Down Royal last season, otherwise nothing of merit in his form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
FINAL CHECK appreciated the step up to a mile when scoring at Killarney in July and the John O'Donoghue-trained filly continues to progress with each outing. She beat all bar Kampala Beach over this trip at Leopardstown last time and Wesley Joyce now claims a valuable 7lb. She has more scope for improvement than Slieve Bearnagh who dropped down to a basement mark to record a third career win over 1m2f at Navan recently. Jack Kearney's 7lb claim more than compensates the rise incurred for that victory. Alfalfa hails from a yard in good form and went close in the other division of that aforementioned 1m2f Navan handicap. The lightly raced gelding obviously comes here in good form and can progress further.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and ALFALFA looks the way to go on the back of his very good recent Navan second. Super Cub rates a big threat now stepping up in trip, with Final Check and Slieve Bearnagh also firmly in the picture.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (18/1 -50%) Qaabil |
18/1(-50%) | (10) Qaabil 18/1, One win from 26 Flat runs. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 25/1, eleventh of 15 in handicap at Killarney (8.1f, good) 20 days ago. Others have achieved more. Has won only once from 31 starts, best run this year when going close at Wolverhampton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (10/1 +0%) Numidia |
10/1(+0%) | (8) Numidia 10/1, One win from 23 Flat runs. 14/1, eleventh of 17 in handicap at Navan (10f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Visor back on. Has a bit to prove. AW winner over 1m, yet to win on turf, unlucky fourth over 1m1f at Leopardstown in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5.5/1 +21%) Mads Black Eights |
5.5/1(+21%) | (1) Mads Black Eights 5.5/1, 28/1, good eighth of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Holding form well of late, so can't be discounted. Enjoyed a good spell of form at Dundalk in 2022, not at best since second there in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (3.5/1 +0%) Pollanassa |
3.5/1(+0%) | (9) Pollanassa 3.5/1, 17/2, first run since leaving Kevin Thomas Coleman when fifth of 18 in handicap at Navan (10f, good to soft) 11 days ago, running on. Well treated if he can build on that, so worth chancing. Made a bright start for this yard when fifth of 18 at Navan, capable of getting involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (6/1 +45%) Snowdonia Song |
6/1(+45%) | (14) Snowdonia Song 6/1, 12/1, bit below form fifteenth of 23 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good) 31 days ago. Up in trip. Not firing at the moment. Managed three respectable runs earlier in the season, needs to step up on more recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (14/1 +0%) Zero Fighter |
14/1(+0%) | (4) Zero Fighter 14/1, Winner at Roscommon in May. 12/1, eleventh of 12 in claimer at Leopardstown (7.2f, good) 27 days ago. Back up in trip. Not firing at present, so others make more appeal. Won a claimer at Roscommon in May, questions to answer after his two most recent starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (66/1 -230%) Samantha Maguire |
66/1(-230%) | (5) Samantha Maguire 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Bit below form sixth of 16 in nursery (14/1) at Galway (7f, heavy). Off 10 months. Up in trip. First run for yard after leaving W. McCreery. Not a bad run on her only nursery start last year, off for ten months, has changed stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (33/1 -32%) Sagittarius Rising |
33/1(-32%) | (11) Sagittarius Rising 33/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2020. 20/1, eleventh of 15 in handicap at Bellewstown (7.8f, good) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive. Most recent of his three wins was in November 2020, in rear on belated seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (20/1 +39%) Fascinating Secret |
20/1(+39%) | (7) Fascinating Secret 20/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 14 in handicap (22/1) at Roscommon (7.2f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Back up in trip. Has done little enough racing for a mare of her age, has failed to reach the first six. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (18/1 -100%) Nyota |
18/1(-100%) | (2) Nyota 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, sixteenth of 23 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good) 31 days ago. Up in trip. Might strip fitter for that return and cheekpieces go on for the first time. Found 7f too sharp on her seasonal debut, fair chance on last season's best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (20/1 -25%) Believe Me Now |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Believe Me Now 20/1, Bit below form seventh of 14 in handicap at Tipperary (9f, good to soft, 12/1) 10 days ago. Struggling for form at present. Modest form so far, has a bit to find with Miss Langmore on recent Tipperary running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (25/1 -108%) Miss Langmore |
25/1(-108%) | (13) Miss Langmore 25/1, Good fourth of 14 in handicap at Tipperary (9f, good to soft, 33/1) 10 days ago, never nearer. On a handy mark and could get involved if things drop right. Second in a claimer in May, best handicap run so far when fourth at Tipperary ten days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
POLLANASSA made a promising start for Kevin Coleman last year including over this C&D but struggled after getting an initial handicap mark of 72. That rating has now dropped below 50 and he showed definite spark on a first start for Ray Cody. He didn't enjoy the clearest of passages but was still only beaten about two lengths behind Slieve Bearnagh at Navan and Jack Kearney claims a valuable 7lb. Wrist Art appeared to find this trip a shade too far at Leopardstown but did finish well after meeting some trouble in running when third to Asisaid over a mile at Naas last time and also has a capable 7lb claimer booked. Miss Langmore merits respect following her third over this trip at Tipperary while Nyota should progress from her reappearance at the Curragh last month.
POLLANASSA is on an appealing mark and made a positive start for his new yard when fifth at Navan 11 days ago, so he's worth taking a chance on in a race where the majority are struggling for form. Wrist Art shaped quite well when third at Naas last time, so he's considered a threat along with Miss Langmore.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
