1st (5) (2/9 +56%) Shanagh Bob |
2/9(+56%) | (5) Shanagh Bob 2/9, €10,000 3-y-o, £200,000 4-y-o, Mahler gelding. Dam (h73), maiden hurdler, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/modest chaser (stayed 2¾m) Lahib The Fifth. Easily won sole start in Irish points. Has been found a weak-looking novice for hurdling debut. Bought for £200,000 soon after winning a 3m soft-ground Irish point last December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (15/2 -15%) All The Glory |
15/2(-15%) | (1) All The Glory 15/2, Showed improved form when winning novices at Hexham and Market Rasen on her first 2 starts this season. Hasn't managed to build on those efforts since, but had plenty on under a double penalty when fourth at Hereford 27 days ago. Respected in a thin race. Dual winner since May but penalised accordingly and looks vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (16/1 +20%) Kruger Park |
16/1(+20%) | (4) Kruger Park 16/1, From a good family and shaped with encouragement when third in a Hereford bumper on debut in December. Disappointing next 2 outings and well held on hurdling/seasonal debut at Warwick 13 days ago. Hard to fancy. Weak in the market (12-1) when tailed off on his switch to hurdling at Warwick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (10/1 +0%) Flidais |
10/1(+0%) | (6) Flidais 10/1, Landed a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle (18.3f, good to soft) in June. Has failed to build on that since, but made a bit more impact when second in a novice over 15.9f here last month. Runaway winner of an Irish maiden hurdle in June; hasn't got close to that form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (33/1 -65%) Jimmy Boy |
33/1(-65%) | (3) Jimmy Boy 33/1, Fair maiden hurdler who jumped poorly on debut for this stable in a novice at Huntingdon 41 days ago. Something to prove. Placed in Ireland; checked out quickly on UK debut and BHA mark of 110 looks flattering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (400/1 -100%) Honore |
400/1(-100%) | (2) Honore 400/1, Down the field in 2 bumpers and has failed to complete both starts over hurdles so far. Plenty to prove after a long absence. No worthwhile form as yet and has been absent for 12 months; no appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
All The Glory recorded a double in the summer and has match-fitness on his side, while Flidais ran well in second over 2m here last month, but they may be playing for second place behind SHANAGH BOB. The son of Mahler was purchased for 200,000 pounds following an impressive point-to-point success 11 months ago and Nicky Henderson will have his sights on much loftier targets later in the season for his five-year-old. He can begin to repay connections at the first opportunity by making a winning debut under Rules.
SHANAGH BOB has been picked up by top connections after readily winning an Irish point and this looks an excellent opportunity to make a successful Rules debut. All The Glory is the likeliest to capitalise if the selection fluffs his lines and Flidais isn't completely ruled out.
If SHANAGH BOB is as good as he looked in his Irish point then a race of this nature should be well within his reach.

1st (5) (5/6 +72%) Saligo Bay |
5/6(+72%) | (5) Saligo Bay 5/6, Won 2m Lingfield handicap hurdle last November and also scored on the Flat at Windsor in May. Creditable third in 2m Huntingdon claimer back hurdling 15 days ago. Should go well. Four wins divided between the Flat/hurdling; solid run in claiming company at Huntingdon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (20/1 +43%) Canford Light |
20/1(+43%) | (2) Canford Light 20/1, Won 21f Ludlow novice on debut for this yard in October 2021 but little to shout about since, albeit he might be sharper for his recent return from a long absence. Cheekpieces go on. Cheekpieces tried having lost his way badly; too much to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (66/1 +18%) Saved By The River |
66/1(+18%) | (6) Saved By The River 66/1, Not the easiest to catch right and ran poorly again at Hereford last time. 16-race maiden under rules and he's up against it on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (15/2 +6%) Laser Focus |
15/2(+6%) | (4) Laser Focus 15/2, A fair maiden hurdler for Henry De Bromhead but below that level in his 3 outings for Alexandra Dunn. Thereabouts if able to shrug off last week's disappointing run in a selling handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (7/4 -40%) Hiaou |
7/4(-40%) | (3) Hiaou 7/4, Fairly useful hurdler at best for Gordon Elliott in Ireland. Left that yard after disappointing on his chase debut in March. Could be a cut above dropped into a seller for new yard. Tongue tied first time. Became disappointing in Ireland but Chris Gordon could turn him around. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This represent a big drop in class for HIAOU on his debut for Chris Gordon after the six-year-old was well beaten in a competitive Leopardstown contest on his chasing bow for Gordon Elliott in the spring. He is well clear on official ratings as he reverts to hurdles and may prove too strong for Saligo Bay, who finished a long way clear of the third when runner-up in a selling handicap hurdle earlier in the month. Laser Focus is another to consider.
If HIAOU still retains anything like the ability he showed at his best in Ireland he's the one beat on his first start for Chris Gordon. Saligo Bay is the one likely to capitalise should the selection fail to deliver.
Hiaou has the highest rating but lost his way badly in Ireland. SALIGO BAY rates the safer bet after his good run at Huntingdon.

1st (4) (11/4 +17%) Brave Kingdom |
11/4(+17%) | (4) Brave Kingdom 11/4, Useful hurdler who was always in control as he won 19f Taunton novice when last seen 23 months ago. Very much the type to make a better chaser for top yard, though does return from a very long absence here after another wind op. His only defeat over hurdles came in a Grade 2 and he's potentially on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 -67%) General Medrano |
5/2(-67%) | (1) General Medrano 5/2, Fairly useful hurdler who has done even better over fences this season, making it 2-2 in this sphere in 2m Huntingdon handicap 3 weeks ago. 9 lb rise to overcome and has stamina to prove but got to be respected as an improving sort. Up in the weights but he's jumped well in winning two small-field handicap chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/4 +50%) Martator |
11/4(+50%) | (5) Martator 11/4, Placed in Grade 1 hurdles at Auteuil in 2021 for Joel Boisnard but has found it a struggle for new yard, easy to back and looking very rusty reverted to this sphere after 6 months off at Aintree (jumped badly). Down another 5 lb and could fare better back up in trip here. His Aintree run was quite encouraging given the number of mistakes he made. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/2 -22%) Ree Okka |
11/2(-22%) | (3) Ree Okka 11/2, Irish point winner who landed 2 novice hurdles at up to 24.5f in 2021-22. Shaped up well without success over fences last season and that experience won't be lost on him. Can lack concentration at times but the ability is there to win off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (13/2 -8%) Hermino Aa |
13/2(-8%) | (2) Hermino Aa 13/2, Dual hurdles winner last term (including here), showing some quirks once in front but far too good for his rivals at Warwick (19f) final start in March. Easy to back on chase debut at Ascot a fortnight ago and made an inauspiscious start, unseating at the first. Retains potential. Dual hurdle winner; departed at the first when 15-2 for his chase debut at Ascot. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
GENERAL MEDRANO has relished the switch to larger obstacles and made it 2-2 over fences when taking a 7lb rise in his stride to win well at Huntingdon three weeks ago. Emma Lavelle's gelding has gone up another 9lb for that victory but remains on an upward curve and this step up in trip could unlock further improvement. Brave Kingdom has won two of his three starts over hurdles and is interesting on his handicap debut for Paul Nicholls, but it is nearly two years since we have seen him on a racecourse. The lack of a recent run also tempers enthusiasm for Ree Okka, but he mixed it in good company last season and must be respected.
MARTATOR lurks on a very tempting mark (23 lb lower than when starting out for the yard) and could be set for a big run if building on his Aintree comeback and jumping better. General Medrano is feared most in his hat-trick bid but fair cases can be made for the other trio.
All five have chances but the suggestion is REE OKKA, who ran well in three of his four chases last season.

1st (5) (13/2 +54%) Birdman Bob |
13/2(+54%) | (5) Birdman Bob 13/2, Offered something to work on when fourth on his Lingfield hurdling debut in November but it's been a struggled since, albeit his latest effort in a handicap at this course was a step back in the right direction. Has a 7-month absence to overcome. Lightly raced 6yo and was only 6l away here in April; there are races in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (8/1 -60%) Ede'iffs Rock |
8/1(-60%) | (4) Ede'iffs Rock 8/1, Just poor form in two hurdling outings to date and, while bumper form gives her some scope for improvement, the handicapper has taken no chances with opening mark. Second to good types the last twice; goes handicapping off what should be a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (Evens +75%) Duhallow Tommy |
Evens(+75%) | (3) Duhallow Tommy Evens, Runner-up in a point and made it third time lucky in bumpers at Fontwell in January. Yet to match that form over hurdles but type to do better now handicapping, so worth chancing. Too free in his latest maiden but that was after a break and could be more settled here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/1 +67%) Onnaroll |
11/1(+67%) | (8) Onnaroll 11/1, Just poor form over hurdles, making an impact on only one occasion, and hard to make a case for from out of the weights. Second from out of the weights at Fontwell but below that level since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (33/1 +34%) Qeyaady |
33/1(+34%) | (9) Qeyaady 33/1, Fairly useful at best on the Flat but has shown precious little to date over hurdles. Fit from a run on the level and might do better now switched to handicaps. Tailed off in non-handicap hurdles and was again well beaten in two Flat starts last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (25/1 +38%) Call Me Sainte |
25/1(+38%) | (10) Call Me Sainte 25/1, Little form in a bumper/over hurdles to date and looks up against it again from out of the weights. Ran poorly in latest handicap at Exeter and hard to fancy from 12lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (11/4 -10%) Afta Party |
11/4(-10%) | (1) Afta Party 11/4, Fairly useful Flat winner for Alice Haynes and, having left Syd Hosie, left previous hurdling efforts behind when landing a novice at Newton Abbot 49 days ago. Can do better still, so worth a chance to follow up. Appeared to have a lot to find in a Newton Abbot novice last time but he beat a good horse. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EDE'IFFS ROCK has finished second on both starts over hurdles so far at Warwick and Newton Abbot. The five-year-old now switches her attention to handicap company where it wouldn't be a surprise to see her take a step forward. Duhallow Tommy is likely to improve from his latest effort at Fontwell, while Afta Party and Birdman Bob appear best of the remainder.
DUHALLOW TOMMY should be spot on having seemed in need of his reappearance and he's potentially well-in based on bumper efforts, so he's worth a chance to make a successful handicap debut. Afta Party looks the main danger on the back of a successful debut for this yard and Atreides would warrant respect if taking his chance.
Afta Party is respected after his improved win last time but DUHALLOW TOMMY has shown enough to believe he might be well treated.

1st (2) (15/8 -7%) Stanley Pincombe |
15/8(-7%) | (2) Stanley Pincombe 15/8, In good form back hurdling with a win at Taunton and a second at Wincanton in the spring. Good return from a break when second of 18 at Exeter under Molly Landau 4 weeks ago and taken to go one better now. He came clear of the rest when second at Exeter (2m2f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 +69%) No Rematch |
5/1(+69%) | (4) No Rematch 5/1, Has struggled since winning a claiming hurdle at Leicester in February, including 2 outings back with this yard in recent weeks. Potentially well treated but it's been a quiet start back with Evan Williams. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (6/1 +25%) Maroochi |
6/1(+25%) | (6) Maroochi 6/1, Deservedly shed maiden tag when dead heating at Newton Abbot (21.5f) last summer and back in form last twice. Place claims here. Only 1-19 over hurdles and his recent respectable efforts have been over further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 +25%) Bert Wilson |
9/1(+25%) | (3) Bert Wilson 9/1, Reacted well to a visor last season, winning over C&D and at Chepstow. Pulled up back at Chepstow on his reappearance, though. He dropped out and was pulled up at Chepstow only 20 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (17/2 -13%) Punches Cross |
17/2(-13%) | (8) Punches Cross 17/2, Placed twice over hurdles at Fontwell this summer and bounced back from a lesser run at Uttoxeter when third at Wincanton last month. When backed at Wincanton (3m, good) a month ago he was found wanting when it mattered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (7/1 +30%) Gaia Vallis |
7/1(+30%) | (7) Gaia Vallis 7/1, Went close in a handicap at Taunton in April. Might have needed her latest Stratford outing after 6 months off and could fare better now. Three-time winner with a big run in her if all the better for her comeback effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (13/2 -44%) Ragamuffin |
13/2(-44%) | (1) Ragamuffin 13/2, Three-time chase winner in 2022 and placed twice over hurdles this season, including third over C&D 14 days ago. Thereabouts if in similar form. Last three wins have been over fences but it was over C&D when beaten 3l two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (80/1 -100%) Auld Sod |
80/1(-100%) | (9) Auld Sod 80/1, Dual chaser a few years back but little to shout about of late and remains to be seen whether a return to hurdles help him. Fair run over fences last time but 2-49 overall and he's out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (40/1 -100%) Jukebox D'eddy |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Jukebox D'eddy 40/1, Took a step forward over hurdles when going close at Wetherby on handicap debut in March but has disappointingly failed to build on that. Quickly reverts to hurdles after all but coming down at the first and pulled up on recent chase debut. Pulled up after a mistake over fences last week; has threatened before over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
RAGAMUFFIN displayed signs of a return to form when third over C&D earlier in the month and Neil Mulholland's gelding could take advantage of what doesn't appear to be a particularly strong contest, especially with the handicapper leaving him on the same mark. Stanley Pincombe filled the runner-up spot on his return from a break at Exeter and is open to improvement. Others to consider are Punches Cross and Maroochi.
If STANLEY PINCOMBE is in the same form as when second in a big field at Exeter last month he'll stand a good chance of going one better. Ragamuffin was third over C&D last time and is second choice ahead of Maroochi.
It's hard to be overly positive about any of these but STANLEY PINCOMBE was a clear second at Exeter and he appeals most.

1st (4) (6/4 +63%) Kotmask |
6/4(+63%) | (4) Kotmask 6/4, In the frame all 4 starts over hurdles last year and caught the eye under considerate handling when third at Kempton (18f, good, 6/1) on debut over fences 29 days ago. Type to improve further as a chaser and he's entitled to plenty of respect. Ran a pleasing first race over fences at Kempton and this looks no harder. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (15/2 +17%) Red Windsor |
15/2(+17%) | (2) Red Windsor 15/2, Fairly useful winner over hurdles shaped as if needing the run when last of 4 in handicap chase at Fontwell (19.5f, good) on debut over fences 44 days ago. Jumped better as the year wore on there and he should do better. Tailed off on chase debut but better than that and not badly handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/2 -11%) No Risk With Lou |
5/2(-11%) | (1) No Risk With Lou 5/2, Winning pointer who bettered his hurdles form when making winning chase debut (7/1) at Huntingdon (16.5f, good) 34 days ago, jumping boldly and drawing clear between last 2. Expected to be bang there with even better to come over fences. Impressed on chase debut when he jumped well; up 8lb; seems best on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (3/1 +40%) Gitche Gumee |
3/1(+40%) | (3) Gitche Gumee 3/1, Won sole start in bumpers and made winning hurdles debut at Stratford last year. In frame all 4 completed outings subsequently, though his jumping proved an issue on more than one occasion. Remains with some potential from this mark if his jumping holds up on chase debut. Bred for fences and should be well handicapped on the pick of his hurdle form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (28/1 -75%) Bonarc |
28/1(-75%) | (5) Bonarc 28/1, Winless since scoring over hurdles at Kilbeggan in May 2022 and she showed nothing when last of 4 in handicap chase at Sligo (17.6f, heavy) 54 days ago. Opposable. 0-5 chasing but has run well in this discipline and drying ground would aid his cause. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NO RISK WITH LOU jumped with great fluency when winning on his chasing debut last month and an 8lb rise might not be enough to stop Alex Hales' charge from following up. The chief threat might come in the form of Gitche Gumee, who showed a consistent level of form over hurdles last season and he is likely to appreciate the switch to fences. Kotmask is unlikely to go down without a fight, while Aviles should not be underestimated either.
NO RISK WITH LOU looked a natural chaser when making a winning debut over fences at Huntingdon and he should take plenty of beating again from an 8 lb higher mark. Kotmask was a consistent type over hurdles and still appeals as another who should do better in this sphere with a run now under his belt, whilst Aviles looks worth noting in the betting on chase debut.
Gitche Gumee should be well treated for his first run over fences but KOTMASK gets the nod after his third at Kempton.

1st (7) (4/1 +71%) Abbeyhill |
4/1(+71%) | (7) Abbeyhill 4/1, Winning pointer but well beaten in novice/maiden hurdles last season. Some encouragement sent handicapping when fourth at Fontwell (21.7f) in May, though he was always behind on his return 45 days ago. Improvement required as he goes up in trip. Still lightly raced but he was barely sighted on his recent return at Fontwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 +14%) Dear Ralphy |
3/1(+14%) | (3) Dear Ralphy 3/1, Fair bumper performer who was in control when falling 2 out on handicap hurdle debut at this C&D in April. Pulled up at Uttoxeter next time, but it still remains early days in handicaps so no surprise to see him get back on track having had a wind op. Unlucky not to win over C&D in April; had a wind op since disappointing next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/4 +36%) San Pedro |
9/4(+36%) | (2) San Pedro 9/4, With cheekpieces applied, opened his account over hurdles at Lingfield (23f) in February and he scored again at Fontwell (25.7f) in May. After 5 months off, only fifth back at Fontwell on his stable debut last month, but he's major player with his recent run behind him. Should be on a good mark and capable of bouncing back from his quiet stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 -64%) Baby Sham |
9/1(-64%) | (4) Baby Sham 9/1, Off the mark over hurdles at Fakenham (20f) in May and also successful at Fontwell (25.7f) in June. After 4 months off (had a wind op), probably needed the run when fourth at this C&D last month, so she could fare better this time around. Capable in races of this nature and ran as though latest race would bring her on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 -200%) Cochise |
12/1(-200%) | (5) Cochise 12/1, Fairly useful on the Flat but yet to match that level in 4 starts over hurdles. Made a successful start for this yard back on the Flat in February last year, but well held after 20 months off at Goodwood in October. On a workable mark returned to hurdling. Heavy Flat defeat last time was after a long absence; has the form to feature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/1 +21%) Betty's Belle |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Betty's Belle 11/1, It's now sixteen runs since her debut success but she wasn't discredited when third of 6 in handicap at this C&D in October. However, she failed to back up that effort when pulled up at Fakenham last time. Bounce back called for. Ran well here last month and it could be that Fakenham didn't suit last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (7/1 +42%) Pilbara |
7/1(+42%) | (1) Pilbara 7/1, Won twice over hurdles in Ireland in summer 2020 when trained by Emmet Mullins. Sole win for this yard was gained off a significantly higher mark over fences at Fontwell in October 2021, but it's been a struggle since and offered little on his return 2 weeks ago. Last season never got off the ground and he was laboured here two weeks ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
With little pace on offer in this field, SAN PEDRO could repeat the tactics that saw him make all at Fontwell in May. The market suggested better was expected on last month's return, but he can take a step forward with that run under his belt. Baby Sham was far from disgraced over track and trip last time and Seamus Mullins' mare could fare better on her second start following wind surgery. Dear Ralphy is also noted.
Having resumed winning ways at Fontwell in May, SAN PEDRO is entitled to have needed the run on his stable/seasonal debut last month, so he can take a step forward to gain a third success since the application of cheekpieces. Baby Sham could also improve from her recent run and is respected, with Dear Ralphy completing the shortlist.
The interesting one is DEAR RALPHY (nap) who would surely have won here in April had he not fallen two out.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
