Second in two C&D handicap hurdles in 2022-23 season and ran well on the Flat last week.

14:20 Plumpton Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

DAMEOFTHECOTSWOLDS continues to find a few too strong, but Nigel Twiston-Davies' filly will not get a better opportunity to get off the mark. It was one of her better efforts when second at Worcester earlier this month and while a few of these have a bit to prove, a similar level of performance might suffice. Zarhanya and Brave Jen are others to consider.

A reproduction of the form DAMEOFTHECOTSWOLDS showed when second at Worcester recently will probably be good enough to see her get off the mark. The chief threat may come from hurdle newcomer Zarhanya, who stayed on late for seventh in a big-field Cheltenham bumper in the spring and this longer trip should suit her now jumping.

Nigel Twiston-Davies' DAMEOFTHECOTSWOLDS was unable to justify favouritism at Worcester last week but can be given another chance.

14:50 Plumpton Handicap Chase (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BELGARUM could hardly have been more impressive when bolting up over an extended 2m5f at Fontwell last month. Joe Tizzard's gelding isn't fully exposed over the larger obstacles, so a 10lb hike looks manageable. Invictus De Brion finished well behind in third that day, but is 11lb better off now and first-time cheekpieces could spark some improvement. Almost Gotaway is also noted.

BELGARUM is an obvious selection in this field after his facile success at Fontwell last time. Invictus de Brion was third in that contest and can make the placings again with chase experience now under his belt, with Almost Gotaway a modest pick for third.

The pick is winning pointer LUNAR CONTACT, who might have needed his recent hurdle run and now makes his chase debut from a good mark.

15:20 Plumpton Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Character Testing was the highest rated of these on the Flat and finished a respectable third on his hurdles/stable bow at Fontwell last month. He can progress now, but it is ROGUE KING that shades preference. In decent form on the level, he filled the runner-up spot over timber at Stratford in July and is the one to beat on that evidence. Gary and Josh Moore often do well around here, so Our Papa Smurf warrants a market check.

ROGUE KING has been in good form since the application of a visor, showing promise when runner-up at Stratford on his hurdling debut in July, so he is taken to go one better this time around. Character Testing also has the benefit of hurdling experience and could be the biggest threat, ahead of Little Venice.

After running a big race in defeat on his hurdling debut, ROGUE KING appears to have been found a very good opportunity here.

15:50 Plumpton Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

KING'S CASTLE's sparkling run of form was halted possibly momentarily when taking the silver medal home at Perth on his latest outing. Prior to that display, he recorded four victories in a row and the seven-year-old may not have finished his progression just yet. Rewired failed to land a blow in a warmer event last time, but he could get closer off a 1lb lower mark. Of the remainder, Donnie Azoff makes the most appeal after his fifth at Worcester.

The thriving KING'S CASTLE has had the form of his latest Perth second boosted by the winner since and can gain a fifth success of the season. Junkanoo took well to hurdling last season and should be all the sharper for a recent spin on the Flat. Enthused is another likely to have a say.

A C&D novice winner last season, JUNKANOO gets the vote in this hope his recent Flat run has brought him on.

16:20 Plumpton Handicap Chase (Class 4) 17f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Stormin Crossgales was denied by two lengths into second in this grade at Market Rasen in June and he should go well off a 6lb higher rating. However, it may pay to side with ALIEN STORM, who has run well off higher marks over hurdles and the son of Getaway might prove a different proposition over fences. Last-time-out winner Kauto The King is another to consider.

STORMIN CROSSGALES can go well fresh and may get the run of things in this small field. The in-form Kauto The King is the obvious threat.

This return to Plumpton is a big plus for chasing debutant ALIEN STORM, who is selected to exploit a favourable mark.

16:50 Plumpton Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Greatness Awaits has filled the top two places on his last three outings and is expected to give a good account off 2lb higher than his most recent second at Market Rasen. However, the step up in trip might be a negative and, with that in mind, THE DARK EDGE gets the nod. The five-year-old took a step in the right direction to fill the runner-up spot on handicap debut at Huntingdon in April and he could be the one to beat off only a 1lb higher mark. Sami Bear completes the shortlist.

GREATNESS AWAITS continues in good form and can notch up another victory if his stamina holds out. R S Ambush and Sami Bear are a couple of the other likely players.

This looks good for GREATNESS AWAITS (nap), who has remained in good form since his 2m hurdle win in June and should be suited by 2m4f.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
