1st (1) (13/8 -8%) Looking As You Are |
13/8(-8%) | (1) Looking As You Are 13/8, Showed plenty when runner-up on first 3 outings in bumpers and improved on her hurdling debut form to get off the mark at Ludlow (21.2f, soft) 26 days ago, very much suited by the increase in trip. Carries a penalty and fancied to be bang there with better to come. Won at Ludlow last month on second hurdle start; solid contender under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (5/1 -11%) Walkinthecotswolds |
5/1(-11%) | (7) Walkinthecotswolds 5/1, Offered little in bumpers but left her hurdling debut form behind when fourth of 12 in a 2m Chepstow novice in January. Confirmed that improvement upped in trip when fourth back there 9 days ago and she can get involved once again. Encouraging fourth at Chepstow the last twice (2m/2m3f, heavy) and might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (15/8 +37%) Stuti |
15/8(+37%) | (6) Stuti 15/8, Southwell bumper winner who made an encouraging start in this sphere when third of 13 in novice at Market Rasen (20.6f, good to soft) in November. Went the wrong way when tailed off at Ludlow 5 weeks later (lost shoe) so can get back on track here now with a hood fitted. Disappointing last time but good 3rd previously and key player on that form; hood goes on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/1 -100%) Coin Basket |
7/1(-100%) | (3) Coin Basket 7/1, Runner-up completed start in Irish points and went one better starting out under Rules in a bumper at Fakenham (16f, good to soft) back in April 2022. Not seen since but she's worth keeping a close eye on in the market now hurdling for a new yard. Won on bumper debut in April 2022; absent since but leading player if retaining promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (25/1 -56%) No No Fizz |
25/1(-56%) | (5) No No Fizz 25/1, Pulled up on hurdling debut and fitted with cheekpieces, showed a bit more having been well positioned when sixth at Huntingdon (20.7f, soft) in January. Likely to need more time. Huntingdon sixth was a step in the right direction but she needs another today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (200/1 -100%) Westmill |
200/1(-100%) | (8) Westmill 200/1, Westerner mare who offered little in a bumper at Fontwell (17.7f, good to soft) 9 months ago. Big outsider on hurdling debut. 80-1, tailed off in Fontwell bumper (good) last May on sole start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (14/1 -17%) Butterflycollector |
14/1(-17%) | (2) Butterflycollector 14/1, Related to numerous winners but only sixth in a bumper at Wincanton. Probably needed the run after 12 months off back there (21.4f, soft) on hurdling debut last month and this should reveal plenty more about her. Hint of promise in bumper on debut and could improve for last month's first hurdle start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (200/1 -100%) El Capote |
200/1(-100%) | (4) El Capote 200/1, Little encouragement to glean from 3 starts over hurdles last season so can only be watched returning from 10 months off. Triple-figure odds on all three starts and has shown very little. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LOOKING AS YOU ARE sets the standard in this contest with a rating of 108 after getting off the mark at Ludlow last month. Alex Hales' five-year-old now has a 7lb penalty to carry, but brings the best form to the table and looks the one to beat. Coin Basket was victorious in her only bumper start at Fakenham in April 2022 and is an interesting contender on her return from a long absence and first start over timber. Of the remainder, Walkinthecotswolds makes the most appeal.
STUTI offered plenty to work on when third on hurdling debut, and with her subsequent effort at Ludlow easy to put a line through, Hughie Morrison's 7-y-o is fancied to come out on top fitted with a hood. Looking As You Are built on her hurdling debut to get off the mark at Ludlow last month, so she's put forward as the main danger under a penalty, with Walkinthecotswolds and Coin Basket taken to fight out third.
Three-time bumper runner-up LOOKING AS YOU ARE improved for the step up to 2m5f at Ludlow last month and is taken to defy a penalty.

1st (4) (5/4 +44%) Duhallow Tommy |
5/4(+44%) | (4) Duhallow Tommy 5/4, Modest hurdler who has proven a different proposition over fences here this year, albeit fortunate to land his second 17f novice handicap 5 weeks ago (making no impression when left clear last). This is tougher but he retains potential over the longer trip. Leading claims. 2-2 over fences (both wins here); fortunate on latter occasion but still a big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +44%) Godot |
9/4(+44%) | (3) Godot 9/4, Dual hurdles winner who showed the benefit of his chase debut spin when narrowly outpointing the in-form Morfee (winner since) in C&D handicap at the turn of the year. Well beaten upped to 3m at Kempton since (jumped left as the race wore on) but could do better back here in re-fitted headgear. Beat next-time-out winner over C&D in January and wasn't discredited at Kempton last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (7/2 -154%) Chance A Tune |
7/2(-154%) | (2) Chance A Tune 7/2, Found the step back up in distance in his favour and matched the pick of his recent hurdles form at the second attempt in this sphere as he struck at Hereford (19f) 8 days ago, well on top under his young rider. Respected under a penalty. Kept on strongly to win readily at Hereford last week; commands respect under 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (10/1 -100%) Old Painless |
10/1(-100%) | (1) Old Painless 10/1, Ran no sort of race on his first outing since leaving Harry Whittington after 8 months off at Chepstow in December but dropped 3 lb and now back at the scene of his emphatic C&D-success at the end of 2022. C&D winner last season but his stable debut in December was very disappointing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DUHALLOW TOMMY has the perfect record over fences in two starts, with both victories coming at this track and a combined winning distance of 32 lengths. Toby Lawes' gelding only has a 10lb higher rating in comparison with his mark before those successes and he looks difficult to oppose. Chance A Tune won very nicely at Hereford and could go close again under a 7lb penalty. Godot seems like a stronger contender than Old Painless in the fight for third.
CHANCE A TUNE got the hang of things as the race wore on and was well on top at the finish when scoring at Hereford under James Turner 8 days ago. He's fancied to defy a penalty at the main expense of the course hat-trick seeking Duhallow Tommy.
Godot is respected but CHANCE A TUNE kept on strongly to assert at Hereford last week and can follow up under his penalty.

1st (4) (5/1 +29%) I'm A Starman |
5/1(+29%) | (4) I'm A Starman 5/1, Ended long losing run when digging deep for success at this C&D in January. However, he wasn't in the same form when mid-field at Ascot (23.5f) 16 days ago, so he may just be vulnerable to his younger rivals in this contest. Battled on well for C&D win two starts ago but has become hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/8 +39%) Artistic Endeavour |
11/8(+39%) | (1) Artistic Endeavour 11/8, Yet to win but has shown plenty of promise, finishing runner-up 3 times at 2m and bouncing back to his best when third at Sandown (19.8f) in January. Shaped as if he should benefit from this longer distance last time and he could be ready to open his account. Only beaten by two necks when third at Sandown (2m4f) last time; tries new trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (10/3 -48%) Letthedustsettle |
10/3(-48%) | (2) Letthedustsettle 10/3, Came good over hurdles at the fifth attempt at Catterick (2m) in January and easily defied a penalty at the same C&D 9 days later. Found an improving type too strong in his hat-trick bid at Newcastle 18 days ago, but this winning pointer is respected as he goes up in trip. Dual 1m7f winner this year and open to further improvement if this hike up in trip suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (3/1 +14%) Hasty Parisian |
3/1(+14%) | (5) Hasty Parisian 3/1, Seventeen runs since his sole victory back in 2022 but hasn't been discredited at this C&D on his last 2 starts, second of 5 in handicap here 3 weeks ago. Has been eased a further 2 lb in the weights since, so he can give his running once more. Only third best on merit when second over C&D last month and needs to up his game. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Letthedustsettle completed a Catterick brace prior to occupying the runner-up berth at Newcastle, and he has a very solid chance off a 1lb higher mark. However, the vote goes to HASTY PARISIAN, who found only one too strong when having his sights lowered over C&D last month and has been dropped 2lb. He runs off a career-low mark and could get his head back in front. Artistic Endeavour has put in solid efforts in all his starts this season and is another to note.
ARTISTIC ENDEAVOUR soon left behind a lesser effort when staying on well for third at Sandown on his latest outing and, with this longer trip likely to suit, he can get off the mark this time around. Letthedustsettle won his only start in points and could be the main danger upped markedly in distance, while Overabottleofred is one to note now handicapping.
Today's hike up in trip is an interesting move for LETTHEDUSTSETTLE, who has made very good progress in handicaps at around 2m lately.

1st (1) (3/1 +33%) Mr Freedom |
3/1(+33%) | (1) Mr Freedom 3/1, Most consistent sort produced another sound effort when second of 12 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at Taunton (19f, good to soft) 56 days ago. Nudged back 2 lb but he's proven under testing conditions and another good account seems likely. Placed on all four completed hurdling starts this season and versatile regarding ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/1 -33%) Mr Mackay |
4/1(-33%) | (5) Mr Mackay 4/1, Off the marks over hurdles at the second time of asking debut when landing 6-runner Huntingdon maiden (19.5f) in October. Brushed off a rare poor effort with a creditable second of 8 in handicap hurdle at Hereford (16.2f, good to soft) 35 days ago and he's shortlisted with 7 lb claimer back aboard. Chased home improving rival at Hereford last time and is not yet fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (13/2 -117%) Saligo Bay |
13/2(-117%) | (6) Saligo Bay 13/2, Capitalised on another drop in grade when winning a C&D seller in December. Well backed when falling early here the following month and he's respected from a fair-looking mark. Easily won C&D seller in November but overall profile not entirely convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (7/1 -133%) Holly |
7/1(-133%) | (2) Holly 7/1, Hasn't stood much racing but had been given a chance by the handicapper and, back under less testing conditions, ran out an impressive winner in a 6-runner handicap at Market Rasen (16.6f, good to soft, 16/1) 55 days ago. Ground here is an unknown but she's hard to dismiss after that effort. Back in form with eased-down win in January; back up 9lb but could still be well treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (9/2 +55%) Highway One O Five |
9/2(+55%) | (7) Highway One O Five 9/2, Fair form first 2 runs in bumpers and showed ability initially over hurdles. However, latest effort at Kempton represented a step in the wrong direction and more is required now pitched into a handicap. Placed in two bumpers and has also shown promise over hurdles; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (10/3 +52%) Classic Lord |
10/3(+52%) | (3) Classic Lord 10/3, Useful on Flat and came good over hurdles for his new yard when landing a brace of novices at Fontwell (2¼m) and Bangor (2m) before Christmas. Back to form when runner-up at Sandown last month and he's respected. Dual novice winner in the autumn; clear second to progressive rival in handicap last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A 2lb rise for Mr Freedom's close-up second to a progressive rival at Taunton looks more than fair and he should give another good account of himself now dropped into 0-125 company. However, he may have to play second fiddle once more, with CLASSIC LORD edging the vote. Tim Vaughan's charge offered more when runner-up at Sandown and that form could be a touch stronger. Holly, Saligo Bay and Mr Mackay are sure to have their supporters as well.
MR FREEDOM has barely put a foot wrong since landing a hat-trick on the Flat in the summer, and given his proven suitability for testing ground, gets the verdict over Mr Mackay, who arrives after a largely positive campaign in his first season over hurdles. Saligo Bay attracted strong support on the back of winning in selling company last year and isn't ruled out of making amends for his early fall on that occasion.
Mr Mackay is tempting but HOLLY (nap) won very comfortably on her latest outing and is taken to overcome a 9lb rise.

1st (4) (9/2 +0%) Born At Midnight |
9/2(+0%) | (4) Born At Midnight 9/2, Dual chase winner last term but he went backwards from a reappearance Plumpton third when only fourth at Wincanton 16 days ago. Something to prove. Third in stronger C&D race than this in January; heavy ground the excuse last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 +33%) River Tyne |
6/1(+33%) | (3) River Tyne 6/1, Maiden hurdler/chaser who has been pulled up in handicap chases at Fakenham and Huntingdon this winter. Needs a couple of these to falter. Went close in this race a year ago but pulled up on both appearances this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (7/2 -40%) Puddlesinthepark |
7/2(-40%) | (1) Puddlesinthepark 7/2, Fair hurdles winner who has shown similar form in this sphere this term, third of 10 in handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f, soft) 31 days ago. One to consider. Sound effort when third at Southwell last month and 2lb lower here; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (5/4 +50%) Kap Chidley |
5/4(+50%) | (2) Kap Chidley 5/4, Made a promising return when runner-up at Uttoxeter (3m) in October and again ran well when fifth at Musselburgh the following month. Disappointing back at Uttoxeter last time, but he could fare better having had a wind op and with tongue strap added. Player. Began season with two good runs; has form on soft; had wind op since latest run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 -191%) Committee Of One |
8/1(-191%) | (5) Committee Of One 8/1, Low-mileage 9-y-o who had cheekpieces fitted when posting a good second of 8 in handicap at Leicester (22.7f, soft) 33 days ago, going with enthusiasm. In the mix if headgear works the oracle again. Engaged Huntingdon 1.55 Saturday. Second in new cheekpieces at Leicester in January; value of that form open to question. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PUDDLESINTHEPARK wasn't disgraced when third behind a subsequent winner at Southwell last month. A 2lb drop in the handicap can only help Evan Williams' gelding and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to open his account over fences. Kap Chidley is a potential fly in the ointment if a wind procedure unlocks some potential, with his runner-up effort at Uttoxeter in October reading well. Born At Midnight may fare best of the remainder.
KAP CHIDLEY had been shaping up well until fluffing his lines at Uttoxeter last time out so Tim Vaughan's 6-y-o is well worth another chance on the back of a wind op to register a breakthrough victory. Puddlesinthepark arrives in good nick and could emerge as the chief threat, with Committee of One another to consider.
The pick is BORN AT MIDNIGHT, who ran well over C&D on his seasonal debut and will appreciate the ground drying out.

1st (3) (9/4 -13%) Mi Sueno |
9/4(-13%) | (3) Mi Sueno 9/4, Belatedly opened his account when making all in Fakenham selling handicap (2m soft) 17 days ago. Hard to argue he looks well treated off 8 lb higher but it is possible he'll be able to dominate again in this small field. Easily made all in Fakenham selling handicap last month; could take some catching here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/6 +17%) Birdman Bob |
5/6(+17%) | (2) Birdman Bob 5/6, C&D winner in November and twice runner-up back here in January. Looked to be in the process of running well again when unseating 3 out over 20.5f here 3 weeks ago. Should give another good account for yard seeking a second successive win in this race. Runner-up twice here since his C&D win in November and a major player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 +0%) Criquette |
7/2(+0%) | (4) Criquette 7/2, Irish point winner. Yet to better modest form over hurdles but her mark has come down a long way and there were better signs when third over C&D (soft) in a first-time visor (retained) 3 weeks ago. Took big step in right direction when third over C&D last month; more needed today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (50/1 -150%) Tying The Knot |
50/1(-150%) | (1) Tying The Knot 50/1, Much improved when winning a juvenile hurdle at Hereford (2m) for Alan King last winter but largely struggled since, including tailed off in 2 handicap hurdles this winter. Cheekpieces go on for the first time over hurdles. Has struggled on both hurdling starts for current stable; needs to turn a corner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Mi Sueno warrants respect judged on his wide-margin romp at Fakenham, although he may not have beaten much in selling handicap company. An 8lb rise in the ratings could prove his undoing, and preference is for BIRDMAN BOB. Andy Irvine's inmate appeared to have plenty in the tank here in February, but for making a mistake at the third-last and unseating his rider. Compensation could await, with Criquette completing the shortlist.
Andy Irvine won this race last year and his BIRDMAN BOB is the most solid option in a trappy finale. Criquette showed better signs with a visor added here last time and might be the one to follow the selection home.
Mi Sueno won last time but BIRDMAN BOB has been in good form at this track this season and his overall profile is more persuasive.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
