100/1(-203%) | (12) Water Music 100/1, 66/1, tenth of 11 in maiden at Kempton (6f) on debut 14 days ago. Fine pedigree but offered just minor encouragement at Kempton two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (66/1 +0%) The Magic Turtle |
66/1(+0%) | (11) The Magic Turtle 66/1, 50/1, seventh of 9 in maiden at Brighton (6f, good to soft, 50/1) on debut 22 days ago, slowly away. 50-1 and green when down the field on last month's Brighton debut; needs plenty more. |

100/1(-2122%) | (1) Al Waseela 100/1, Foaled April 29. 50,000 gns Siyouni filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 6f winners Revisit and Sayidh Kingman. Dam, useful French 7f winner, closely related to high-class 1m-1¼m winner Capponi. Respected newcomer from top stable. 50,000gns half-sis to two 6f winners out of Listed-placed mare; yard's 2yos quiet in 2024. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
With hardly any form to go on, a tentative vote goes to the William Haggas-trained AL WASEELA. The daughter of Siyouni changed hands for 50,000gns and is related to a few Group winners, so she could make an impression on her debut. Renewal also makes plenty of appeal on paper for the in-form Ralph Beckett stable and she will be sure to improve as she steps up in trip, while Hackney Diamonds brings the best known form to the table after her fifth at Windsor.
Those with experience don't set the bar high so this will likely go to a newcomer. RENEWAL cost 210,000 gns as a yearling and gets the vote before any betting clues are known. Al Waseela, Cristalino and Standput are others who make plenty of paper appeal.
This looks at the mercy of a newcomer and CRISTALINO is tentatively preferred to Nad Alshiba Rain.

Want Want |
(8) (40/1 -60%)40/1(-60%) | (8) Want Want 40/1, Last of 12 in handicap (20/1) at Newmarket (6f, good) 33 days ago. Others make more appeal. Not progressed from a close 2nd on handicap debut in April (6f, AW); gelded since last run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (3/1 -9%) Dark Dreamer |
3/1(-9%) | (2) Dark Dreamer 3/1, Winner at Kempton in April. 11/8, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 42 days ago. Worthy of consideration in a thin race. Well-backed winner at Kempton on h'cap debut in April; beaten twice since; early days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/2 -120%) Ten Commitments |
11/2(-120%) | (6) Ten Commitments 11/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1, very good second of 10 in handicap at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 8 days ago, running on. Seems capable of going one better. Promising second on last week's handicap debut where he had to wait for a gap; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (17/2 +15%) Let's Get Em |
17/2(+15%) | (1) Let's Get Em 17/2, Seventh of 9 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, good to firm, 8/1) 25 days ago. Back down in trip. Needs to bounce back and he's not the most reliable. Disappointed twice over 1m at Windsor last month; return to 6f may help; ground a query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (7/1 +30%) Bonaventure |
7/1(+30%) | (7) Bonaventure 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Haydock (7f, good) 13 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Others more persuasive. Has threatened better in his five starts thus far; tongue-tie added today; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (7/2 +0%) Persian Blue |
7/2(+0%) | (5) Persian Blue 7/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Kempton (6f), slowly away. Off 168 days. Looked quirky last year but remains with the potential for better. Ran well here as a 2yo but she's looked a difficult customer since; no headgear for return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (15/2 +25%) Chiedozie |
15/2(+25%) | (4) Chiedozie 15/2, Bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, good to firm, 12/1) 11 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Not taken lightly. Not at best at Lingfield 11 days ago and cheekpieces are now reached for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (11/1 -10%) Kapparis Kid |
11/1(-10%) | (9) Kapparis Kid 11/1, Temperamental sort. 15/2, bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Brighton (7f, good to soft) 22 days ago. First run for yard after leaving John Ryan. Others have achieved more. Of interest on his best form for J Ryan; sold 4,2000gns this month; check betting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TEN COMMITMENTS outran his odds when flying home late to finish second on his handicap debut at Salisbury recently. The son of Due Diligence goes off the same mark and he could prove very tough to beat. The main danger might be Persian Blue, who finished fourth in a class 4 event at Kempton last time and may appreciate this return to turf. Of the remainder, Chiedozie makes the most appeal in first-time cheekpieces.
TEN COMMITMENTS found improvement when second at Salisbury last time and this doesn't appear to be as good a race, so he's preferred to Dark Dreamer, the only other one with a reasonable last effort to his name. Persian Blue has run well on her only previous visit to the course, so she's of interest on reappearance.
Ten Commitments is the obvious starting point but BONAVENTURE has threatened better and may be the answer with a tongue-tie added.

1st (5) (12/1 +14%) Faustus |
12/1(+14%) | (5) Faustus 12/1, Last of 7 in handicap (4/1) at Lingfield (5f, good to firm) 34 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Something to prove. Well treated on last year's best and handles most ground; yet to fire in 2024 though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (16/1 +0%) Four Adaay |
16/1(+0%) | (10) Four Adaay 16/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Seventh of 8 in handicap (14/1) at Bath (5f, good) 12 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Not ruled out. C&D winner; 9lb lower than for latest success; caught wide the last twice; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (16/1 -113%) Miss Brazen |
16/1(-113%) | (2) Miss Brazen 16/1, Strong in the betting but below form in handicap at Thirsk (5f, good to firm, 4/1) 32 days ago. On a handy mark and down in grade now, so not one to fully dismiss. Well handicapped and shaped well on her return; poor run at Thirsk last time though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (18/1 -80%) Abolish |
18/1(-80%) | (8) Abolish 18/1, One win from 30 Flat runs. Twenty one runs since last win in 2022. Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap at Windsor (5.1f, heavy, 9/1) 44 days ago. Respected despite his poor strike rate. Tricky to win with but went desperately close at Kempton in March (6f); others are safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (100/1 -2757%) Strong Johnson |
100/1(-2757%) | (1) Strong Johnson 100/1, Respectable fourth of 9 in handicap (11/2) at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Should be on the premises. Three wins last year; looked on the way back at Ripon latest; yard won this in 2022 & 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/1 -69%) Dandy Dinmont |
11/1(-69%) | (3) Dandy Dinmont 11/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Pontefract (5f, good, 11/2) 9 days ago. Two solid runs in defeat this season; should go well again provided the ground isn't soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (100/1 -1900%) Little Muddy |
100/1(-1900%) | (6) Little Muddy 100/1, Respectable seventh of 21 in handicap (18/1) at York (6f, good) 25 days ago. Holding her form and could make a bigger impact in this less-competitive scenario. Good chance on last year's best and she's run well this year too; 6f perhaps best though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (33/1 -1000%) Angle Land |
33/1(-1000%) | (7) Angle Land 33/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. 3/1, respectable third of 9 in handicap at Wetherby (5.5f, good to soft) 8 days ago, slowly away. Return to this bare 5f is in her favour, so she's worthy of interest. Good placed efforts the last twice; return to a bare 5f in her favour; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (66/1 -164%) Glendown |
66/1(-164%) | (4) Glendown 66/1, Tenth of 13 in handicap (33/1) at this course (6.1f, good) 14 days ago. Could strip fitter for that, so not completely discounted. Three 6f wins last year; sharper for last week's 6f return; better expected today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (100/1 -1150%) Beauld As Brass |
100/1(-1150%) | (9) Beauld As Brass 100/1, 15/2, good third of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 22 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Not dismissed. Usually seen at a lower level but his two runs this year have both been creditable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BEAULD AS BRASS finished a close-up third at Lingfield last month and he is only 3lb higher for that effort. Adam West's four-year-old now sports a first-time hood and, with a 5lb claimer in the plate, he could be the one to beat. Angle Land has hit the frame the last twice and she could closer off the same mark as her most recent third at Wetherby, while Dandy Dinmont is another to keep an eye on.
STRONG JOHNSON has been building up to something and, now back down in trip/grade, he could be ready to capitalise on an appealing mark. Angle Land should also benefit from the return to the minimum trip, so she's feared most ahead of Dandy Dinmont.
Paul Midgley can win this race for the third year in a row courtesy of the class-dropping STRONG JOHNSON (nap).

First run for yard after leaving Michael Wigham. Respected. Bolted up on soft ground on final run for M Wigham 53 days ago; up 11lb on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mc'ted |
(11) (28/1 -12%)28/1(-12%) | (11) Mc'ted 28/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win at Chelmsford City in April. Creditable eighth of 14 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW, 20/1) 18 days ago. Won twice on AW in April for today's rider; less good twice since; others more appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Pug |
(4) (33/1 -32%)33/1(-32%) | (4) The Pug 33/1, Unreliable type. 40/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Bath (14f, good) 12 days ago. Down in trip. Blinkers back on. Needs to bounce back. Won twice at Southwell last August (1m3f, AW); yet to show comparable turf form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (8) (13/2 -30%) Sisterandbrother |
13/2(-30%) | (8) Sisterandbrother 13/2, First run since leaving Harriet Dickin and career best when winning 12-runner handicap at Haydock (11.6f, firm, 5/2) 12 days ago. Could do better for this yard and demands respect. Made a winning stable debut at Haydock 12 days ago; should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/4 +14%) Laser Focus |
6/4(+14%) | (3) Laser Focus 6/4, Latest win at Lingfield in May. Very good second of 8 in handicap at Wetherby (10f, good to soft, 11/4) 8 days ago, conceding first run. Expected to be bang there. Fast improver since handicapping on turf; last week's 2nd another step forward; big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 +14%) Showy |
12/1(+14%) | (6) Showy 12/1, 11/2, eleventh of 13 in handicap at Bath (10.2f, good) 35 days ago. Should strip fitter for that and she was reliable last year. Chance on her best efforts last summer; should be sharper with her reappearance behind her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (50/1 -525%) Abu Royal |
50/1(-525%) | (1) Abu Royal 50/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 5/2, sixth of 7 in handicap at Windsor (10f, good to firm) 37 days ago. Not one to rule out. AW form this year gives him claims but less good since returned to turf; drops in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (80/1 -220%) Princess Niyla |
80/1(-220%) | (7) Princess Niyla 80/1, 14/1, bit below form sixth of 11 in handicap at Ripon (8f, good to firm) 14 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Back up in trip. Not one to write off. Unplaced in four runs for new yard this year; down in class but stamina not assured. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (50/1 -317%) Carey Street |
50/1(-317%) | (12) Carey Street 50/1, First run since leaving Linda Stubbs when creditable fifth of 13 in handicap (22/1) at Bath (10.2f, good) 26 days ago. Can get involved if able to build on that stable debut. Solid effort on stable debut (rare turf run) last month; could well build on that here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (80/1 -967%) Sonning |
80/1(-967%) | (2) Sonning 80/1, Fifth of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, good to soft, 11/4) 20 days ago, finding test too much. Return to this trip is in his favour. Two promising 1m2f runs this spring; less good over 1m3f last time but this more suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (100/1 -900%) Fillyfudge |
100/1(-900%) | (10) Fillyfudge 100/1, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (10f, 28/1), getting first run. Off 118 days. Claims if she's tuned up. Sprung a surprise at Chelmsford when last seen in February (1m2f); vulnerable up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (100/1 -900%) Baile Locha Riach |
100/1(-900%) | (9) Baile Locha Riach 100/1, First run since leaving John Patrick Murtagh when creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (12f, 13/2) 28 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. One to consider. Ran okay on last month's stable debut (1m4f, AW); needs more for new cheekpieces though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (100/1 -52%) Lillistar |
100/1(-52%) | (13) Lillistar 100/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap (50/1) at Pontefract (10f, good to soft) 26 days ago. Has work to do. Struggled on Flat and over hurdles for new yard; hard to recommend at present. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BLETCHLEY STORM has switched yards since returning an easy winner at Leicester in April. She's been raised 11lb for that but the likely soft ground will suit and another bold bid is expected. Laser Focus just missed out on a hat-trick when beaten a neck at Wetherby and is not out of this, but Chelmsford winner Fillyfudge would have preferred a faster surface. Sisterandbrother won an amateur riders' race at Haydock last time and is another to note.
LASER FOCUS was only denied by another one that's going the right way when second at Wetherby 8 days ago and he's fancied to get back to winning ways. Last-time-out winners Sisterandbrother and Bletchley Storm look the main dangers.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and it looks a golden opportunity for LASER FOCUS to get back in the winners' enclosure.

1st (1) (13/8 +53%) Fortnum |
13/8(+53%) | (1) Fortnum 13/8, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, last of 8 in minor event at Brighton (8f, good to soft) 29 days ago, slowly away. Stable's handicap debutants have a tendency to improve significantly, so he's very much one to be interested in upped in distance. Not obviously well treated but stable's h'cap debutants can leave earlier form well behind. |

7th (11) (100/1 -400%) Adaay With Michael |
100/1(-400%) | (11) Adaay With Michael 100/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 11 in minor event (200/1) at Carlisle (6.9f, good to firm) 30 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Worth monitoring in the betting. Poor form in three runs at up to 7f; not easily recommended now handicapping over further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (66/1 -230%) Misty Time |
66/1(-230%) | (5) Misty Time 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 6 in minor event (150/1) at Beverley (9.9f, good to soft) 55 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Not obviously well treated on the form she's shown in three novice runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
PATRONAGE won a shade cosily over C&D last month with the reopposing Emerald City back in fourth. A 5lb rise may not be enough to anchor Nigel Tinkler's charge with further progress likely. Serendipitous Lady will relish any cut in the ground and a better effort when fourth at Carlisle latest suggests she can figure, while Standbackandlook finished runner-up at Leicester without troubling the winner and could go well again.
STANDBACKANDLOOK posted his best effort to date in handicaps when runner-up at Leicester 15 days ago and, with the extra emphasis on stamina here in his favour, he's fancied to go one better. Patronage looks an obvious threat after scoring comfortably over C&D last time and Serendipitous Lady isn't without hope.
Standbackandlook can build on his Leicester promise but SERENDIPITOUS LADY is improving run by run for her new stable.

15/2(+70%) | (11) Astronomica 15/2, 25/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) 31 days ago, not ideally placed. Dual soft-ground winner for whom good to firm was no good to her last time at Newmarket. |

3rd (8) (12/1 -85%) Adelabella |
12/1(-85%) | (8) Adelabella 12/1, Creditable fifth of 13 in handicap (12/1) at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) 31 days ago. Wasn't beaten far in a Class 5 at Newmarket; chance if handling this softer ground. |

16/1(-78%) | (10) Believe You Me 16/1, 4/1, respectable second of 8 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, heavy) 36 days ago. Gave it a good shot when runner-up under a positive ride at Chepstow (1m, soft) last month. |

22/1(-10%) | (4) Cariad 22/1, 16/1, last of 7 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 21 days ago. Blinkers back on. Others more persuasive. Four-time AW winner who is 0-10 on turf but has placed form and handles cut underfoot. |

100/1(-1329%) | (1) Al Baahy 100/1, One win from 27 Flat runs. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 14/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Goodwood (9f, good) 12 days ago, unable to sustain effort. He's got a poor strike-rate and on this sort of ground 7f probably suits him best. |

7th (3) (28/1 -522%) Dougies Dream |
28/1(-522%) | (3) Dougies Dream 28/1, Good second of 11 in handicap (7/1) at Redcar (8f, soft) 22 days ago, running on. Not taken lightly. Turn looks near after placed efforts at Beverley (good to soft) and Redcar (soft). |

100/1(-525%) | (6) Ceilidh 100/1, Seventh of 8 in handicap (17/2) at Chepstow (8.1f, heavy) 36 days ago. Something to find on form. Engaged 19.30 Brighton Tuesday. Below par in both runs this season; entered at Brighton yesterday evening (7.30). |

Tongue strap on 1st time. Winner for Hannon yard; only 7th on stable debut and having first run on the grass. |

100/1(-525%) | (12) Ice Shadow 100/1, Course winner. 15/2, seventh of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f). Off 175 days. Course winner on soft but could well need this on his first sighting since Christmas. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Mick Appleby has won this three times in the last seven renewals, each time with the favourite, and ANDROMEDAS KINGDOM may add to that tally. Two wins at Bath were followed by a second at the same track last time and, although she needs a career best off this mark to win, she is the in-form option. Astronomica may do better after her first start of the season and will appreciate the return to this grade, with Believe You Me another to take seriously.
BALLSBRIDGE went like the best horse at the weights but was sent for home a bit too soon at Pontefract 9 days ago and can make amends off the same mark back down in trip. The thriving Andromedas Kingdom is the obvious threat, with Dougies Dream best of the others.
Fast ground was no good to ASTRONOMICA last time and she's got a solid record in turf handicaps.

50/1(-52%) | (9) Sea Master 50/1, Sixth of 9 in handicap at Pontefract (12f, good to soft, 40/1) 26 days ago. 0-6 for the Johnstons and well-beaten outsider on both starts for new yard; up from 1m4f. |

100/1(-2400%) | (1) Russian Rumour 100/1, C&D winner. 1 win from 2 runs this year. Latest win here in May. 15/2, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Bath (14f, good) 12 days ago, slowly away. Looks competitive on form. C&D win under Olivia Tubb on return last month was followed by a fair fourth at Bath. |

80/1(-1900%) | (10) Tigerten 80/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. 11/8, respectable fourth of 13 in handicap at Pontefract (17.1f, good) 9 days ago. Should be on the premises. 0-13 for current yard; showed on last three starts that significant ability remains. |

8th (7) (100/1 -525%) Mrs Meader |
100/1(-525%) | (7) Mrs Meader 100/1, Eleventh of 12 in handicap at Doncaster (10.2f, heavy, 9/1) 88 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Has a tempting mark but stamina is an issue and she's unraced beyond 1m4f on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (100/1 -1438%) Douglas Dc |
100/1(-1438%) | (2) Douglas Dc 100/1, Fourth of 6 in handicap at Brighton (9.9f, good to firm, 9/1) 16 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. 0-9 on Flat but this trip should suit him much better than the 1m2f of recent Brighton run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (50/1 -1329%) Ney |
50/1(-1329%) | (4) Ney 50/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this year. Latest win at Ripon in May. Found run of good form coming to a halt when fourth of 8 in handicap at Carlisle (17.2f, good to soft, 13/8) 19 days ago. Type to bounce back. 3-6 since the blinkers went on; hat-trick bid came badly unstuck but he's considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (40/1 -100%) Grain Of Hope |
40/1(-100%) | (8) Grain Of Hope 40/1, 8/1, ninth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (21f, good to soft) 44 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Fair on the Flat, poor on last Flat outing. Short-headed at Thirsk (1m6f, good to firm) off 1lb lower last July; headgear first time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Ney was not at his best last time out over further, but won his only previous start over this trip at Catterick and could go well. Douglas Dc is another of interest despite being a maiden on the Flat and he can get involved back up in trip, but YOUNG MERLIN could be the one. He won't mind any cut in the ground and wasn't beaten far off 1lb lower when second at Salisbury last month.
YOUNG MERLIN has done well for this yard and the form of his latest second at Salisbury has worked out well, so he gets the vote off a similar mark. Russian Rumour goes well for this rider and remains on a handy mark, so is next best ahead of Tigerten.
The most likely win contenders appear to be YOUNG MERLIN, Russian Rumour and Ney.
Ths is the racecard key.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses.
