(3) Spiritual 4/1, Made breakthrough at listed level under a fine ride at Sandown (1m) and dispelled a lesser run in France when fourth from the front in Group 3 Atalanta Stakes (1m) 4 weeks ago. Likely she can figure and further easing of the ground would play to her strengths.

Fairly useful handicapper; won at Glorious Goodwood; stiffer task upped in class.

13:50 Newmarket Listed (Class 1) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood to side with SPIRITUAL, but it may pay to do so. She was too keen for her own good when fading into fourth close home over a mile at Sandown most recently, but the form of her victory over the same C&D in July has a strong look to it. With that effort in mind, she gets the vote to stamp her authority on this trappy-looking contest from the front. Sirona got back on track with a solid second over a mile at Longchamp recently and looks the pick of the remainder, while the progressive Fair Point also catches the eye.

SIRONA gave best only to a similarly rejuvenated type when runner-up in listed company at Longchamp (1m) 26 days ago and the balance of this season's efforts give her sound claims kept to this level. Spiritual holds sound claims on these terms and she's feared, whilst another 3-y-o, Rolica, likely has a bigger effort in her locker.

The excellent record of 3yos in this race heightens interest in ROLICA, who has good Newmarket form, and the improving Fair Point.

14:25 Newmarket Group 3 (Class 1) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

MISTRAL STAR was far from disgraced when finishing fourth in a classy renewal of the Yorkshire Oaks over this trip last month and, with her sights lowered, the daughter of Frankel may be the one to side with. Time Lock gave best to two stronger stayers when finishing third in a Group 2 over 1m4f on the July course here last time and she looks the main danger to the selection, especially if the application of a first-time tongue-tie has the desired effect. The unexposed Place Of Safety is respected most out of the remainder.

The vote goes to TIME LOCK, who sets the standard judged on her impressive win in this race 12 months ago. Mistral Star has a progressive profile and warrants plenty of respect back at a more suitable level, with 3-y-o Place of Safety also of interest with further improvement on the cards.

Time Lock, Place Of Safety and Mistral Star are shortlisted but testing ground could swing it in favour of SEA OF ROSES.

15:00 Newmarket Group 2 (Class 1) 7f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

BUBBLING would have finished closer to the eventual winner if granted a clear passage when a never-nearer third in a Leopardstown Listed race recently and, provided the cards fall right for her here, this progressive daughter of No Nay Never looks well capable of plundering Group 2 honours. Formal has notched up two wins from as many career starts this season and she can give the selection most to think about, while this step up in trip may see Definitive in a better light.

Sir Michael Stoute's FORMAL has looked a fine prospect when impressively landng lesser events at Newbury and Leciester so is fancied to take this step up in class in her stride and retain her unbeaten record. Aidan O'Brien's duo Ecstatic and Bubbling have better days ahead of them too and can chase home the selection in that order.

Highly promising FORMAL is taken to give the soon-retiring Sir Michael Stoute a fourth Rockfel win. Duty First is second choice.

15:35 Newmarket Group 2 (Class 1) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Ice Max cosily took care of Poker Face (second) when securing the Celebration Mile at Goodwood last month and considering the manner of that victory, he is expected to confirm the form. However, they both might up against it with LEAD ARTIST, who was only denied by the smart Kinross in the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster earlier in the month and the step back up in distance should suit. The son of Dubawi continues to improve and he can record his third career victory.

LEAD ARTIST will be suited by the return to 1m and can go one better than in similar company at the Doncaster St Leger meeting. Prague shaped well tackling 1m for the first time at Haydock earlier this month and may provide the main threat. Celebration Mile winner Ice Max would also firmly enter the reckoning should the ground turn soft.

In a tight renewal a chance is taken on TASK FORCE who tends to finish his races out strongly and he could improve on softening ground.

16:10 Newmarket Maiden (Class 4) 7f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Seaplane has shown plenty of ability in both of his starts to date, with his latest effort when runner-up at Ascot possibly the strongest piece of form on offer. However, a chance can be taken on newcomer SECRET THEORY, who is the choice of William Buick from the Godolphin pair in this contest and he is related to plenty of Group winners. The son of Dubawi goes for the in-form Charlie Appleby stable and it would be no surprise to see him make an immediate impact. Archivist completes the shoirtlist.

An interesting race in which the market could prove informative, particularly regarding the Godolphin newcomers. SEAPLANE shaped well when second at Ascot recently and gets the nod with further progress likely. Frankini wasn't too far behind the selection at Ascot and is second choice ahead of Archivist before any betting clues are known.

With further progress on the cards, ARCHIVIST is preferred. Interesting newcomer Secret Theory is second choice.

16:45 Newmarket Listed (Class 1) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Unbeaten three-year-old MILITARY ACADEMY has shaped like a smart prospect in both victories to date and he looks ready to score at Listed level. The son of Fastnet Rock made all in ready fashion over 1m2f at Salisbury earlier in the month and this 1m4f distance should hold no fears. Having landed Haydock's Old Borough Cup over 1m6f, Epic Poet certainly won't be lacking for stamina down in trip and he's feared most, ahead of Aimeric.

Having been shaping up well, EPIC POET proved better than ever when battling well for success at Haydock last time, so he looks well worth his place back in this higher grade. He is taken to get the better of Military Academy, who is respected as he bids to maintain his unbeaten record, while Aimeric can also make his presence felt.

The solid option looks to be AIMERIC (nap), although Military Academy has to be feared and Epic Poet is also in calculations.

17:20 Newmarket Handicap (Class 3) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having found only a subsequent winner too strong on his handicap bow at Chester in July, MORE THUNDER could gain compensation today. Sir Michael Stoute's charge races off an unchanged mark and he likely has more to offer after only four starts. Shamran opened his account in a Salisbury novice contest in late August and a handicap mark of 82 looks workable. The son of Kingman is unlikely to be far away, while Siempre Arturo may have been freshened up by a 64-day break.

Chances can be given to plenty, but the suggestion is MAGNUM OPUS, who shaped as if still in good form when fifth at Doncaster just under a fortnight ago and Simon & Ed Crisford's 3-y-o likely has a bigger effort in his locker. More Thunder progressed another chunk when runner-up at Chester a couple of months ago, so he can provide most resistance to the selection, with Westridge and Gloucestershire another couple worth considering, too.

Judged on his latest effort, MORE THUNDER holds particularly strong claims. Westridge, a similar type, is feared most.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
