1st (1) (3/1 +45%) Blue Baloo |
3/1(+45%) | (1) Blue Baloo 3/1, Hails from a stable that is yet to fire this season, but she showed fairly useful form in bumpers and is bred to take to this sphere, so is worthy of interest returning from 8 months off. Won soft-ground course bumper on Boxing Day; enters calculations on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (22/1 -83%) Bishop Hill |
22/1(-83%) | (9) Bishop Hill 22/1, Showed only minor promise in bumpers but very much caught the eye when fifth of 10 on Ayr hurdling debut (2m) 19 days ago, finishing with running left. Sure to do better, especially now moving up in trip. Kept on steadily for respectable fifth on hurdling debut; needs a good step forward here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2/1 -6%) Chosen Hero |
2/1(-6%) | (4) Chosen Hero 2/1, Fair bumper winner who ran to a similar level sent hurdling when second of 13 in a novice at Hexham (16.2f, heavy) 13 days ago. Up in trip and has leading claims with improvement on the cards. Point/bumper winner; moves up in trip after clear second on recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (15/2 +25%) Carrigeen Kali |
15/2(+25%) | (3) Carrigeen Kali 15/2, Hit the frame in a couple of bumpers from 4 starts last season and shaped like a stayer sent hurdling after 6 months off when fourth of 10 at Hexham (16.2f, heavy) 40 days ago. Likely to do better now upped in trip. Promising fourth on last month's hurdling debut; contests a stronger race here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (5/2 +0%) Saunton Surf |
5/2(+0%) | (11) Saunton Surf 5/2, Easy winner of a point/Aintree bumper for Bradley Gibbs and did well in the circumstances when runner-up on Ludlow hurdling debut (21.3f) after 5 months off, having been badly hampered at the first. Sure to improve. Impressed in Aintree bumper on rules debut; good second over hurdles last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (80/1 -220%) Perfect Poli |
80/1(-220%) | (7) Perfect Poli 80/1, Poor form in bumpers. Looks one for later on. Not beaten far in two spring bumpers but others in this line-up look stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (80/1 -142%) Rory's Story |
80/1(-142%) | (10) Rory's Story 80/1, Modest in bumpers and finished a remote fourth on Hexham hurdle debut in September. Showed some ability in bumpers but lacked fluency when well-held fourth on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (250/1 -279%) Hollywood Harmon |
250/1(-279%) | (5) Hollywood Harmon 250/1, Unplaced completed starts in Irish points and showed nothing on her Rules debut at Worcester in August. Struggling from fairly early stage on stable/hurdle debut in August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (17/2 -55%) Vive De Charnie |
17/2(-55%) | (8) Vive De Charnie 17/2, Ran to a fair level in a brace of bumpers for Jamie Snowden 10 months apart. Goes hurdling now after 21 months off and the market should offer up some clues. Makes stable/hurdle debut after long layoff but her Fontwell bumper second worked out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (33/1 -230%) Take It Upstairs |
33/1(-230%) | (12) Take It Upstairs 33/1, Won a point bumper and built on her debut under Rules when second in a Hexham bumper in June. Upped in trip for hurdle debut and more required. Went close in Hexham bumper in June; further progress needed on this hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (100/1 +0%) Izzy Bell |
100/1(+0%) | (6) Izzy Bell 100/1, Has yet to better poor form so easily passed over. Claims if judged on huge-odds third in April but overall profile not persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (300/1 -200%) Born To Sparkle |
300/1(-200%) | (2) Born To Sparkle 300/1, Looked a hard ride when well held in course bumper on debut 11 months ago. Tailed off when 33-1 for soft-ground course bumper won by Blue Baloo on Boxing Day. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
There were plenty of positives to be taken from Saunton Surf's hurdles debut when runner-up at Ludlow last month and another bold bid from the Warren Greatrex-trained filly looks on the cards. However, CHOSEN HERO, who posted a second-placed finish on her opening outing over timber at Hexham recently, makes slightly more appeal. The 3m point winner should appreciate the step up from 2m to 2m4f here and conditions will be no issue. Take It Upstairs may fare best of the remainder.
SAUNTON SURF did notably well to finish second on her Ludlow hurdle debut 4 weeks ago, having been badly hampered at the first, so she's selected to go one better with improvement on the cards. Chosen Hero shouldn't be long in opening her account over hurdles, while Blue Baloo and Bishop Hill are others to note.
After chasing home a dual bumper winner on her hurdling debut at Hexham, CHOSEN HERO moves up in trip here and looks the one to beat.

1st (9) (33/1 -65%) Goodoldbill |
33/1(-65%) | (9) Goodoldbill 33/1, Successful in Irish points but offered little over hurdles and, after 7 months off, pulled up on his chase debut at Kelso (17.1f) in October. Looks to be up against it as he goes significantly up in distance. Well held in his completed starts over hurdles and was pulled up on chase debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 +20%) Imperial Alex |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Imperial Alex 2/1, Progressive over hurdles, winning handicap at Warwick in February, and left his seasonal/chase debut well behind when runner-up in handicap at the same course (25.4f) 16 days ago. Open to further improvement and he can open his account over fences. Unexposed chaser who was a clear second of 18 at Warwick (3m1f) two weeks ago; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 +13%) Elleon |
7/2(+13%) | (6) Elleon 7/2, Yet to win over fences but runner-up on six of his last 7 starts, bumping into one who had dropped in the weights when last seen at Carlisle (24.5f) in March. Can be thereabouts once more as he makes his return from 8 months off. Runner-up over fences in his last five runs last season and he's respected on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 +6%) Coolmoyne |
15/2(+6%) | (7) Coolmoyne 15/2, Still looking for first win but has proved consistent over fences, reeled in close home at Sedgefield (19.3f) on return. Not beaten far when fifth of 6 at Carlisle next time, before placed again back at Sedgefield 2 weeks ago. Up in trip with blinkers applied. Consistent over fences but he's now 0-15 and has stamina to prove at this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (4/1 +67%) Benny Baloo |
4/1(+67%) | (8) Benny Baloo 4/1, Little impact in trio of novice/maiden hurdles and failed to improve when fifth in handicap at Sedgefield (27f) when last seen in February. However, he did win a point and yard have had success with the family, so he could yet do better sent chasing. Point winner but he struggled over hurdles and needs major improvement on his chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (14/1 -56%) Don Brocco |
14/1(-56%) | (4) Don Brocco 14/1, Back-to-back winner of staying handicap hurdles in February/March 2022 but struggled last season. Fared better following a wind op when sixth of 14 at Cartmel in May, before looking rusty after 6 months off at Kelso 12 day ago. More needed as he goes chasing. Has lost his way over hurdles and has quite a lot to prove on this chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (20/1 -186%) Augharue |
20/1(-186%) | (2) Augharue 20/1, Shaped best on his second chase start when runner-up in handicap at Hexham (15.6f) in October, looking in control until 13-month absence told near finish. Possibly found race coming too soon 2 weeks later, so he could bounce back as he goes up in trip. Disappointing at Kelso and has something to prove again on this big rethink in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (5/1 -43%) Pats Dream |
5/1(-43%) | (5) Pats Dream 5/1, Didn't offer much in 4 outings over hurdles last season. However, he had made the frame both starts in Irish points and shaped well sent chasing when third in Kelso handicap (23.4f) last month, jumping accurately. Should have more to offer over fences. Made an encouraging start over fences at Kelso and has claims if he can build on that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
IMPERIAL ALEX's stamina may have been stretched by the 3m1f distance when runner-up at Warwick earlier in the month and compensation could await on this ease in trip, despite the handicapper having his say with a 5lb rise in the ratings. Elleon posted a string of second-placed finishes last season and the eight-year-old may give the selection most to think about on his return to action, while Augharue is a potential improver now upped to an extended 2m7f.
IMPERIAL ALEX was much improved from his chase debut when runner-up at Warwick 16 days ago, pulling clear of the rest having met trouble on the run-in, and he can build on that to go one better. Pats Dream shaped encouragingly sent chasing last month and could be the main danger, while Elleon can give his running once again.
Preference is for Tom Lacey's unexposed chaser IMPERIAL ALEX, who was a clear second in a big-field handicap at Warwick two weeks ago.

1st (7) (9/2 +0%) Tune In A Box |
9/2(+0%) | (7) Tune In A Box 9/2, Hinted at ability in a bumper and, while he's yet to make an impact over hurdles, there was more encouragement in a novice at Wetherby last time, finishing with running left. Open to improvement upped in trip for handicap debut. Yet to show anything more than minor promise; up in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (13/2 +28%) Just Jess |
13/2(+28%) | (6) Just Jess 13/2, More miss than hit since scoring at Catterick in January, pulled up at Hexham on reapppearance. Stable showing better signs recently, so worth a market check. Will handle today's ground but needs last month's reappearance run to have brought her on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/1 -10%) Velasco |
11/1(-10%) | (3) Velasco 11/1, Back on earlier this year, confirming previous encouragement when landing a 7-runner handicap at Hexham 5 months ago. Remains well treated on old form but is likely to need this. Made all on good ground at Hexham in June but not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/2 +0%) So Many Roads |
5/2(+0%) | (1) So Many Roads 5/2, Much improved when justifying support on handicap debut in 17-runner contest at Ayr (heavy) in January. Mid-race faller on final start of last season and just respectable return at Carlisle, but pomises to be well suited by this longer trip. Won on heavy ground in January and ran well on seasonal debut; new trip today; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (5/1 +0%) Solway Primrose |
5/1(+0%) | (10) Solway Primrose 5/1, Has upped her game since switched to staying handicaps and opened her account at Hexham 13 days ago, doing well to come from last and having a bit in hand. Deserves respect. Lightly raced 9yo who won on heavy ground this month, her first run after a wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (13/2 +54%) Perculator |
13/2(+54%) | (4) Perculator 13/2, Bumper winner but yet to really kick on over hurdles, only fourth over C&D 7 months ago. May do better this season. Ran quite well over C&D in March but needs to find something extra on this seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (15/2 +46%) My Strong Man |
15/2(+46%) | (9) My Strong Man 15/2, Poor maiden handicap hurdler who arrives fit from a spin on the Flat. Nothing in hand of current mark, though, son others are more persuasive. 0-15 over hurdles; struggled in heavy-ground Flat race last month; others preferred here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (14/1 -211%) Dequall |
14/1(-211%) | (5) Dequall 14/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. 12/1, third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (25.8f, heavy) 26 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Not without a chance. Made pleasing return from long layoff last month and well well handicapped on old form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (40/1 -233%) Largy Train |
40/1(-233%) | (2) Largy Train 40/1, Made a winning debut in bumper for Stuart Crawford in May 2021 but has gone the wrong way since. Pulled up in first three hurdles but last month's Carlisle third was much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (50/1 -100%) Swift Reply |
50/1(-100%) | (8) Swift Reply 50/1, Unseated in a point and limited encouragement so far over hurdles. Might show more switched to handicaps, however. Has made a low-key start to his hurdling career but improvement is possible in handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SOLWAY PRIMROSE reaped the rewards of last month's wind procedure when opening her account at Hexham recently and this lightly-raced mare must hold every chance of completing a double off only 4lb higher. Dequall offered something to work with when finishing a respectable third after a 556-day absence at Kelso last month. Stuart Coltherd's gelding is entitled to improve for that effort and he is one to consider, along with handicap debutant Tune In A Box, who may unlock some improvement now faced with a stiffer stamina test.
SO MANY ROADS is still unexposed and should come on for his reappearance, so he's worth a chance to resume progress up in trip. Tune In A Box is a notable handicap debutant and Solway Primrose deserves respect after scoring at Hexham with something to spare.
Heavy-ground winner SO MANY ROADS still has low mileage, and moves up in trip after a very encouraging seasonal debut over 2m4f.

Ex S'Elance |
(6) (13/2 -8%)13/2(-8%) | (6) Ex S'Elance 13/2, Looked temperamental over hurdles but strung several decent efforts together sent chasing in the spring, including when winning at Hexham and this course (both 20.1f). Pleasing return when good fourth of 12 in handicap chase at Ayr (20.5f, good) 19 days ago and he enters calculations. Dual heavy-ground winner last season and ran well this month, after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (4/1 +71%) Aire Valley Lad |
4/1(+71%) | (4) Aire Valley Lad 4/1, Belatedly opened chase account at Wetherby (24.2f) in December. Has finished down the field over hurdles all 3 outings this campaign and looks tricky to fancy back over fences. Back from break with two down-the-field hurdle runs this autumn; needs to raise game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 -27%) Tom Cody |
7/2(-27%) | (2) Tom Cody 7/2, Multiple point winner was below expectations back under Rules when fourth in a Carlisle novice hurdle last month. Only start in hunter chases was encouraging, though, and he's an interesting handicap chase newcomer. Ex-pointer; ran okay in novice hurdle on seasonal/stable debut; handicap chase debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (13/2 +35%) Eveque |
13/2(+35%) | (7) Eveque 13/2, More encouragement from a sliding mark when fourth in a 15-runner Hexham handicap on final outing last season but ran poorly on his return and others are more persuasive. Ran well at Hexham at end of last season but dropped out tamely there last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/1 -27%) Event Of Sivola |
7/1(-27%) | (5) Event Of Sivola 7/1, Won at Hexham (31.9f) this time last year and largely held form well in defeat subsequently. Likely to better for a recent spin over hurdles at that same course and he's not dismissed back over fences. Has conditions to suit but was pulled up last month, after a break; hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/2 -80%) En Meme Temps |
9/2(-80%) | (1) En Meme Temps 9/2, Belatedly hit the target over fences when landing a heavy-ground 2½m Hexham handicap in March. Reappearance second over the same C&D was a solid effort, so respected despite being comparatively exposed. Not the force of old but posted a sound effort at Hexham last month and has won on heavy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (7/2 +50%) Morozov Cocktail |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Morozov Cocktail 7/2, Not at his best in a winless 2022/23 season and has tended to come on from his comeback run, so others make more appeal on return from 7 months off. Thorough stayer; not seen since poor run in April but resumes on career-low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (12/1 +0%) Ballintogher Boy |
12/1(+0%) | (8) Ballintogher Boy 12/1, Yet to add to his C&D win back in March 2022 and was beaten a long way out after 12-month absence at Sedgefield a fortnight ago. Hard to fancy. C&D winner in March 2022 but has run to form on only one of four appearances since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (150/1 -200%) Diamond Road |
150/1(-200%) | (9) Diamond Road 150/1, Yet to show any worthwhile form, his third here in March still decidedly poor stuff, and he looks set for another struggle on return. 12-race maiden who makes very limited appeal from 4lb out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
EN MEME TEMPS finished second on his return from a break at Hexham last month and the nine-year-old, who remains on the same mark, gets the vote to go one better. Ex S'elance ran with plenty of credit when fourth at Ayr earlier in the month and the step back up in trip may yield further improvement. Others to note include Tom Cody and Eveque.
EX S'ELANCE has taken to chasing better than may have been expected and can build on a good comeback run at Ayr to gain a third win in this sphere. Prolific point winner Tom Cody is somewhat of an unknown quantity on his handicap chase bow and has to respected, with Event of Sivola also interesting on last year's form.
Five-time point winner TOM CODY hasn't been with Rebecca Menzies long and is taken to make a winning handicap chase debut.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 +25%) Imaginary Dragon |
9/2(+25%) | (3) Imaginary Dragon 9/2, Best run when third of 11 in novice hurdle (33/1) at Southwell (20.4f, good) 9 months ago. First run for yard after leaving William Muir & Chris Grassick with more needed on his handicap hurdle debut. Placed in 2m4f maiden in January; should have more to offer in handicaps this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (17/2 +29%) Ravenscar |
17/2(+29%) | (2) Ravenscar 17/2, Course winner. Off 6 months before fading seventh of 15 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (16.2f, heavy, 40/1) 26 days ago. Can take a step forward. Made low-key seasonal debut last month but current mark ought to be workable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/1 -38%) Grand Soufle |
11/1(-38%) | (1) Grand Soufle 11/1, Won 9-runner novice hurdle at Cartmel (17.2f, good, 4/1). Off 15 months ahead of his handicap hurdle debut with his fitness to prove. Clearcut winner of good-ground maiden in summer 2022; handicap debut after long layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 -29%) Vocal Duke |
9/2(-29%) | (6) Vocal Duke 9/2, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, back on song when second of 12 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at Carlisle (17.2f, soft) 35 days ago. Weighted to go well nudged up 1 lb with headgear retained. Ran well in defeat on heavy ground in first-time cheekpieces last month; considered. |

9/1(-38%) | (9) Atlantic Dancer 9/1, Ended last term wtih a win in 9-runner handicap hurdle (9/2) at Kelso (18.1f, good), responding well. Off 7 months but not ruled out. Ended last season in good form and is still quite lightly raced for her age. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (11/1 -10%) Lincoln Burrows |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (33/1 -65%) Liberty Flame |
33/1(-65%) | (10) Liberty Flame 33/1, First run since leaving Peter Flood when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Carlisle (17.2f, soft) 35 days ago. Has work to do. Third in good-ground Irish maiden in August; pulled up in heavy-ground handicap last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
IT'S A LOVE THING got off the mark at the third time of asking in this sphere at Sedgefield before following up when switched back to the all-weather at Kempton earlier in the month. The five-year-old now makes his handicap debut over hurdles and is expected to take another step forward. Imaginary Dragon commands respect on his first start for Sandy Thomson, while Coral Blue and Grand Soufle are others for the shortlist.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and VOCAL DUKE is fancied to capitalise on a handy-looking mark and go one better than his recent Carlisle second. Very Excellent is feared most on the back of his good Cartmel second ahead of course-scorer Ravenscar and the returning Atlantic Dancer.
After a good run on heavy ground last month, VOCAL DUKE gets the nod in the hope the cheekpieces continue to have a positive effect.

1st (1) (5/4 +50%) Cruz Control |
5/4(+50%) | (1) Cruz Control 5/4, Fairly useful bumper/hurdles winner who made a promising return/chase debut behind a smart prospect at Ffos Las (2m) in October. Failed to build on that back up in trip when fifth at Ascot (18.8f) latest but he's certainly not out of things here. Very respectable fifth at Ascot this month; today's race is easier; likely contender. |

2nd (2) (8/1 -129%) Glory And Honour |
8/1(-129%) | (2) Glory And Honour 8/1, Made a winning start for his new yard in 2m1f handicap chase at Cartmel in August and has held form well in defeat since, good second of 7 in handicap chase at Carlisle (2m) 5 weeks ago. 15/8(+25%) | (5) Hello Judge 15/8, Successful hurdler who has got back on track following a wind op, building on his reappearance third at Hexham when running out a good winner at Carlisle (20f, soft) 4 weeks ago, displaying a determined attitude. Possibilities again from 4 lb higher mark. Battled well for hard-fought Carlisle win last month; 4lb rise ought to be manageable. |

4th (3) (25/1 -233%) Shadows In The Sky |
25/1(-233%) | (3) Shadows In The Sky 25/1, Point winner. Went close in 3m Musselburgh maiden on hurdle debut in January but not in anything like the same form in 3 subsequent outings. Had wind op ahead of return/chase debut and the betting may well prove a useful guide. Not seen since pulled up on handicap hurdle debut in April; others have much less to prove. |

5th (4) (9/2 -29%) Present Fair |
9/2(-29%) | (4) Present Fair 9/2, Dual point winner who showed ability over hurdles last term and improved on that when third of 6 in handicap at Sedgefield on chase debut 32 days ago. Of interest with progress anticipated. Moves up in grade after promising chase debut at Sedgefield but should have more to offer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A small but fairly open contest, in which a chance can be taken on PRESENT FAIR. Having undergone wind surgery in March, Donald McCain's charge made a pleasing chasing debut at Sedgefield last month, finishing third. He remains on the same mark and looks set to take a step forward, but recent Carlisle winner Hello Judge, Cruz Control and the ultra-consistent Glory And Honour are unlikely to be far away. Shadows In The Sky is worth a market check ahead of his seasonal return.
HELLO JUDGE has showed the benefit of a wind op upon returning this term, building on his Hexham third and showing a determined attitude to boot when landing a 15-runner handicap chase at Carlisle 4 weeks ago. He can go well again from a 4 lb higher mark, with Cruz Control and Present Fair others to consider.
Tom Lacey's CRUZ CONTROL (nap) was just a respectable fifth at Ascot this month but he's sure to appreciate today's ease in grade.

2nd (2) (2/1 -174%) Hill Spirit |
2/1(-174%) | (2) Hill Spirit 2/1, £18,000 3-y-o, Teofilo gelding. Closely related to 7f winner Fall of Rome. Dam 2-y-o 7f/1m winner. Did the better of the pair responsible for setting the pace when third of 14 in bumper (3/1) at Huntingdon (13.7f, good to firm) on NH debut 44 days ago. Form pick. Out of a Listed Flat winner; third of 14 on debut at Huntingdon; obvious contender. |

3rd (5) (3/1 +75%) Ravanelli |
3/1(+75%) | (5) Ravanelli 3/1, Dark Angel gelding. Half-brother to 1¼m winner Anotherfortheroad. Dam 2-y-o 5f/6f winner. Out of a Listed sprint winner; rare bumper winner for stable in recent years. |

4th (1) (5/1 +69%) Aire Spray |
5/1(+69%) | (1) Aire Spray 5/1, £12,000 3-y-o, Berkshire gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart but temperamental hurdler (stays 3m) Commander of Fleet. First foal from unraced half-sister to smart hurdler Commander Of Fleet; cost £12,000. |

5th (3) (22/1 +33%) Just Oot |
22/1(+33%) | (3) Just Oot 22/1, £5,000 3-y-o, Elusive Pimpernel gelding. Half-brother to modest chaser Belle Jour. Dam unraced. Half-brother to a low-grade 3m2f chase winner; probably one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (16/5 +9%) Suleiman Artist |
16/5(+9%) | (7) Suleiman Artist 16/5, Zoffany gelding. Half-brother to 4 winners, including fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser For Everyone and Speed Merchant. Failed to justify support when seventh of 14 in bumper (10/3) at Huntingdon (13.7f, good to firm) on NH debut 44 days ago, dropped away well inside final 1f. Over 5l behind Hill Spirit at Huntingdon, but that was still a promising debut. |

7th (6) (100/1 -300%) Simba's Roar |
100/1(-300%) | (6) Simba's Roar 100/1, Oasis Dream gelding. Half-brother to 6f/7f winner Akamu. Dam 11f winner. Well held in bumper (12/1) at Aintree (17f, heavy) on NH debut 12 days ago. Tongue strap on. Well beaten when 12-1 for recent Aintree debut; tongue-tie now added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HILL SPIRIT (third) was pressed for the lead by Suleiman Artist (seventh) when the pair met on their respective debuts last month. Both will have learnt plenty from that experience but the former, who is related to some useful Flat types, can confirm that form en route to victory. The betting is likely to prove instructive regarding the newcomers, with She's Notjoeking making most appeal on paper.
HILL SPIRIT showed plenty to work on when third at Huntingdon and looks the one to beat in a weak bumper. Suleiman Artist and Mapogo both failed to meet expectations first-time out but are clearly thought capable of better.
It's hard to tell how well HILL SPIRIT will handle these conditions but he made a pleasing debut when third on good ground last month.
Ths is the racecard key.
