16:15 Newcastle Handicap (Class 2) 12f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

It's possible this trip will stretch a few of these and, with that in mind, the proven staying power of previous course winner LA PULGA could be a major asset if he is allowed to set the fractions on the front end. Marhaba The Champ is a possible improver to consider on the back of a respectable fourth over an inadequate 1m2f at Ayr last month. King Lear should also be noted with first-time blinkers added.

None of these look particularly solid but GET SHIRTY is lower in the weights than he's been for some time and has solid claims if returning in the same sort of form that saw him finish fourth in the Ascot Stakes in June. 3-y-o Dramatic Star has been gelded since his Melrose flop and could get back on track. King Lear is another to consider.

Marhaba The Champ ran his best race of a light campaign last time, but DRAMATIC STAR still has some potential having been gelded.

16:50 Newcastle Stakes (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MARAMA impressed with a seven-length victory in a similar race at Chester last month and is taken to brush aside the penalty. Although beaten by four and a half lengths at Southwell most recently, Sword was second to an upwardly mobile rival and must have a good chance being of thereabouts in this company. Krissy, King Of Lightning and Warm Response all need to improve, so perhaps Cadarn could be the pick of the rest.

MARAMA got off the mark in impressive fashion at Chester last month and is surely up to defying a penalty on that evidence, especially with further improvement on the cards. Sword is proving expensive to follow, so Warm Response, who showed plenty to work on his rather belated debut at Southwell recently, is feared most.

The sex allowance means MARAMA has to concede only 2lb to the enigmatic Sword and she's clearly the one to beat.

17:25 Newcastle Stakes (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

An easy winner on his racecourse bow at Wolverhampton last month, SAPPHIRE VALLEY sets the standard and can atone for fading into fourth when he possibly went off too quickly at Chelmsford subsequently. A third run in quick succession suggests all is well with this potentially progressive son of Blue Point and he is worth persevering with here. Fellow penalised runner Everyoneknowsadave is feared most, although Velvet Whisper is taken seriously after a promising introduction at Southwell.

VELVET WHISPER made a very promising start at Southwell when well backed and seems sure to improve. She looks the one to be on. Sapphire Valley and Shamador head up the dangers.

There was plenty to like about the debut second of VELVET WHISPER and she's preferred to Sapphire Valley.

17:55 Newcastle Handicap (Class 3) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

JENEVER may be suited by dropping back to the minimum trip, having shown up well when fourth in the Ayr Silver Cup last month. Jessica Macey's charge has won over C&D before, and he gets the vote ahead of the well-handicapped Badri and Lucky Man, who has strong claims on his success at Windsor in August. Completing the shortlist are Cover Point, Harvanna and Londoner.

JENEVER ran well despite never being a threat to the smart winner in the Ayr Silver Cup last month. He goes well here and can land the spoils. Londoner, Lucky Man and Harvanna are solid threats.

The pick is BADRI, who did not have the race run to suit when midfield in a good Ascot handicap this month and is well handicapped now.

18:25 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Turned out again quickly under a 5lb penalty after a comfortable success at Musselburgh last week, SIXCOR may not be the most consistent but he looks more than capable of following up at this level. The unexposed Northerner was a promising fourth over C&D last time out and is likely to be thereabouts, along with the veteran Stallone and Cuban Rock.

ELZAAL has fallen a long way in the weights ahead of his return to a track where he goes really well and is worth chancing. Northerner is feared most ahead of Musselburgh-winner Sixcor.

Sixcor should go well despite his penalty but NORTHERNER's latest C&D fourth offered hope of better and this is a weaker race.

18:55 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 8f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Fresh off a victory in the Champion Stakes on Saturday, Owen Burrows can continue that form with the unexposed PURSUIT OF TRUTH, who ran a career-best when second on handicap debut at Kempton last time out. A mere 1lb rise could prove lenient, and he may have too much for the recent narrow Ayr runner-up Alpine Sierra, as well as Sir Maxi, who looked to be finding his way for new connections when a promising third over 7f here last month.

OPERATION GIMCRACK has caught the eye on both his starts this term after an absence, leaving the impression there are races to be won with him off his current mark. Alpine Sierra is next best ahead of Pursuit of Truth.

This might go to PURSUIT OF TRUTH, who was running for only the second time this season when second on his recent handicap debut.

19:25 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Barnaby struck in convincing style over C&D last month and he is likely to have his supporters off only 5lb higher. However, a chance can be taken on NO SAINT, who produced a much better effort when beaten two lengths into second over track and trip last time. Sam England's four-year-old was possibly unsuited by the slowly run race on that occasion and might get more of a pace to aim at this time around. Mr Stanley is another to consider.

BARNABY had been crying out for 7f and duly found progress to get off the mark in comfortable fashion over this C&D 4 weeks ago. Still unexposed at this trip, he can defy a 5 lb rise at the main expense of No Saint and Jkr Cobbler.

Kevin Ryan's BARNABY (nap) took his form up a notch when a stylish C&D scorer latest and can defy a 5lb rise (form has been franked).

RETIREMENT BECKONS wasn't beaten far into fourth over a mile here on his penultimate start and he backed up effort up when filling the same position at Hamilton last time. Dash Power made the frame at Kempton in May and it would be no surprise to see him get involved off an unchanged mark. Space Ninja isn't ruled out either.

HAVANA SMOKE continues to knock on the door so remains of interest with headgear re-fitted. Kapparis Kid is worth a second look back on AW, with Space Ninja another to consider.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
